In this portfolio the author presents a span of work published over nearly fifteen years, describing her work as a child and adolescent psychotherapist and the contribution this has made to thinking both within and beyond her profession. After addressing questions which concern the epistemological framework and methodology of psychoanalysis, within which she works, she discusses under three main headings the areas of interest which have been her research focus: triangularity, creativity, and links with other disciplines. She emphasises that the evolution of thinking is an ongoing process, from the initial growth of the individual through his engagement in first relationships, on to his wider connections in the world and what he (and we all) make of it, from first affective exchanges to their later elaboration.

The present work focuses on the mathematical and philosophical works of Hermann Weyl (1885-1955). Weyl was a leading mathematician at the beginning of the twentieth century and his major contributions have concerned several fields of research, both within pure mathematics and theoretical physics. Many of them were pioneering works at that time and, most of all, they were carried out in the light of his peculiar philosophical view. As few mathematicians of his time, Weyl was able to manage both scientific and philosophical issues with an impressive competence. For this reason he represented a very peculiar figure among scientists and mathematicians of his time. This dissertation aims to clarify these works both from a philosophical and a mathematical perspective. Specifically, I will focus on those works developed through the years 1917-1927. The first chapter aims to shed some light on the philosophical reasons that underlie Weyl's foundational studies during this period. I will explore these works especially with respect his attempt to establish a connection between a descriptive analysis of phenomena and their exact determination. I will focus both on his mathematical formulation of Euclidean space and on his analysis of phenomenal continuum pointing out the main features of these studies. Weyl's investigations on the relations between what is intuitively given and the mathematical concepts through which we seek to construct the given in geometry and physics do not seem to be carried out by chance. These investigations indeed could be better understood within the phenomenological framework of Husserl's philosophy. Husserl's distinction between descriptive and exact concepts delineates the difference between a descriptive analysis of a field of inquiry and its exact determination. Clarifying how they are related is not an easy task. Nevertheless, Husserl points out that a connection might be possible if we were able to establish a connection by means of some idealizing procedure intuitively ascertained. Within this phenomenological framework we should interpret Weyl's investigations on the relation between phenomenal knowledge and theoretical construction. In the second chapter I will focus on Weyl's mathematical account of the continuum within the framework of his pure infinitesimal geometry developed mainly in \emph{Raum-Zeit-Materie}. It deserves a special attention. Weyl indeed seems to make use of infinitesimal quantities and this fact appears to be rather odd at that time. The literature on this issue is rather poor. For this reason I've tried to clarify Weyl's use of infinitesimal quantities considering also Weyl's historical context. I will show that Weyl's approach has not to be understood in the light of modern differential geometry. It has instead to be understood as a sort of algebraic reasoning with infinitesimal quantities. This approach was not so unusual at that time. Many mathematicians, well-known to Weyl, were dealing with kind of mathematics although many of these studies were works in progress. In agreement with that, Weyl's analysis of the continuum has to be understood as a work in progress as well. In the following Weyl's studies in combinatorial topology are proposed. I will then suggest that both these approaches should be understood within the phenomenological framework outlined in the first chapter. The latter, however, attempts to establish a more faithful connection between a descriptive analysis of the continuum and its exact determination and for this reason it can be regarded as an improvement with respect to the former from a phenomenological point of view. Finally, in the third chapter I will attempt a phenomenological clarification of Weyl's view. In the first and second chapter Weyl's studies are clarified showing how they are related with the phenomenological framework of Husserl's philosophy. Despite this, the theoretical proposal revealed by them is not so easy to understand. That issue seems to be shared by many other contemporary studies. The relevant literature on this author dealing with a phenomenological interpretation seems often to be hardly understandable. I'm going to outline the main problems involved in this field of research and how they are related with the peculiarity of Husserl's framework. I will then suggest a way to improve these studies. Specifically, I will attempt a phenomenological clarification of Weyl's writings. To this aim, I will argue for an approach that makes use of Husserl's writings as a sort of ``analytic tools'' so that a sort of phenomenologically-informed reconstruction of Weyl's thought can be achieved. I will finally consider Weyl's notion of surface as a case study to show a concrete example of this kind of reconstruction.

Undertaken at a time when sweeping changes to state funding for higher education in general and the incorporation of art schools into larger higher education institutions in particular, has radically changed the role of the art school in the UK, this thesis engages a range of artistic research practices to explore, contextualize and debate the role of the built environment of the art school (and related cultural spaces) as a dynamic site of social interaction out of which artistic research practices have developed as strategies for producing both knowledge of a space and knowledge of how to understand the formation of that space, the seeing of it, listening to it and the processes through which we as students, lecturers, administrators , facilities staff, librarians, artists and researchers contribute to how such built spaces are produced and experienced over time. I make connections between local developments in the cultural politics of artist education in north London and concepts of authorship, experience and history in the context of a built space. By critically reflecting on a series of collectively produced artistic research works produced out of a specific art school site, the thesis reflects on the implications - intellectual, political, social - of placing historical, critical and theoretical studies in the art school and on the contemporaneous design of flexible multi - purposed and adaptive spaces such as the Phase II building in which much of this study is located. The art school is proposed as an active engine, an environment within which many participate in different ways at different times in a shared community of aesthetic, cultural and intellectual debate in and around which they negotiate their developing practices. Through a series of artistic research works, I argue that the experience of these spaces is comprehensible only at the point of encounter between artist, listener and work . The encounters presented here necessitate new and evolving social relations within the artistic research work and propose forms of resistance to dominant forms of subject formation within art school culture.

Cette thèse propose une analyse de la production et de la diffusion des séries de dessins animés en France entre 1975 et 1997 à travers le prisme des représentations de l'histoire, des sciences et de la conquête spatiale. Les bornes chronologiques de notre étude partent de l'éclatement de l'ORTF jusqu'à l'année de la consolidation de l'utilisation de l'ordinateur comme outil de production effectif dans l'animation. Pour l'analyse des séries, nous mettons en parallèle les contextes sociaux, politiques, économiques et technoscientifiques de l'époque. Les enjeux et les politiques sont multiples. D'abord, le contexte de guerre froide et de conquête spatiale mène à une politique mondiale de valorisation des sciences et des techniques. Puis, en France, les changements politiques issus de l'arrivée de la gauche au pouvoir conduisent à des modifications à la fois techniques et économiques qui influencent l'évolution de la télévision française. La culture française de la mise en valeur des connaissances à la télévision à travers les missions d'informer, d'éduquer et de distraire est centrale dans ce contexte. Finalement, les partenariats avec les Japonais (diffusion de séries japonaises sur les chaînes françaises et les contrats de coproduction et de sous-traitance) influencent l'esthétique et les récits des productions françaises. Pour une question de coûts de production, l'esthétique du dessin animé sur celluloïd s'impose. Tout cela influence la façon dont les séries d'animation télévisées françaises sont réalisées et la façon dont elles mettent en scène les mythes scientifiques. La télévision étant un des vecteurs de diffusion grand public, les récits d'anticipation sont des moyens privilégiés pour présenter un futur lié aux technosciences. De surcroît, quand ils sont alliés à la technique du dessin animé, ces récits attirent davantage l'attention du jeune public. Dans le cadre de cette recherche, nous nous concentrons en particulier sur les séries réalisées par la maison de production Procidis – Il était une fois... l'Homme (1978), Il était une fois… l'Espace (1981), Il était une fois... la Vie (1986), Il était une fois... les Amériques (1991), Il était une fois... les Découvreurs (1994) et Il était une fois... les Explorateurs (1996) – ; et celles réalisées par la maison de production DIC – Ulysse 31 (1981) et Les Mystérieuses cités d'or (1982). The study of the production and distribution of cartoon series in France between 1975 and 1997 is the issue of this PhD. The chronological limits of our study start from the break-up of the ORTF until the year of the consolidation of the use of the computer as an effective production tool in animation. For the analysis of the series, we put in parallel the social, political, economic and technoscientific contexts of the time. The issues and policies arising from this context are very diverse. First, the context of the cold war and the conquest of space lead to a global policy of promoting sciences and technologies. Then, in France, the political changes resulting from the election of François Mitterand lead to technical and economic changes which influence the evolution of French television. The French culture of promoting knowledge on television through the missions of informing, educating and entertaining cannot be ignored. Finally, partnerships with the Japanese (broadcasting of Japanese series on French channels and co-production and subcontracting contracts) have a great influence on the aesthetics and narratives of French productions. To lay down the production costs, the aesthetics of celluloid cartoon is essential. All of these issues influence the way French television animated series are made and the way they portray scientific myths. We are therefore trying to understand the influences of social, political, economic and technological contexts on the stories and aesthetics in the series "made in France". Furthermore, TV is one of the vectors of sciences dissemination to the general public ; Sci-Fi stories are a privileged way of presenting this technoscientific future. In addition, these stories mixed with the cartoon techniques attract more attention from young audiences. As part of this research, we are focusing in particular on the series produced by the Procidis studios - Il était une fois... l'Homme (1978), Il était une fois… l'Espace (1981), Il était une fois... la Vie (1986), Il était une fois... les Amériques (1991), Il était une fois... les Découvreurs (1994) et Il était une fois... les Explorateurs (1996) ; and those produced by the DIC studios - Ulysse 31 (1981) and Les Mystérieuses cités d’or (1982). This thesis developed and evaluated strategies for social and ubiquitous computing designs that can enhance connected learning and networking opportunities for users in coworking spaces. Based on a social and a technical design intervention deployed at the State Library of Queensland, the research findings illustrate the potential of combining social, spatial and digital affordances in order to nourish peer-to-peer learning, creativity, inspiration, and innovation. The study proposes a hybrid notion of placemaking as a new way of thinking about the design of coworking and interactive learning spaces.

Planners of military air and space operations in a battlefield environment seek to allocate resources against targets in a way that best achieves the objectives of the commander. In future conflicts, the presence of new types of assets, such as tactical space-based sensors and Operationally Responsive Spacelift (ORS) assets, will add complexity to air and space operations decisions. In order to best achieve objectives, planners of different types of assets will likely need to work collaboratively when formulating tasking for their resources. The purpose of this research is to investigate the challenges of air and space collaboration and to quantify its potential benefit. We model a future threat scenario involving a rogue nation with Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) capability and a significant air defense force. We consider three separately-controlled resource groups - aircraft, satellites, and ORS assets - to combat the target threat. In addition, we formulate a top-level coordination controller, whose job it is to effect collaborative decision-making among resource groups. Using a combination of pre-existing software and new algorithms, we develop the Coordinated Dynamic Air and Space Operations Control System (CDASOCS), which simulates controller-generated plans in a battlefield environment recurring over multiple planning periods. New algorithms are presented for both the top-level coordination controller and the ORS controller. The benefits of resource coordination in CDASOCS are demonstrated in three main experiments along with several parameter variation tests.

The increasing of space explorations requires space communication protocols to provide more capabilities, such as dynamic routing, adaptive data transformation and automatic resource allocation. Accordingly, a universal space communication protocol stack should be provided instead of specially designing protocol for given space mission. Considering the requirements and characters of space mission, potential protocols of all layers were compared and analyzed. Simulations were made based on OPNET. And a suggestion for space communication protocol stacks is proposed.

This thesis considers (inter)disciplinary spaces and research objects associated with geomorphology. Employing an ethnographic methodology, established Actor-Network Theory (ANT) themes are examined; the study considers the displacement of research objects amid the spaces of scientific inquiry and the role played by a range of actors in enabling this displacement. However, these well-known themes are given new impetus; the thesis seeks to address deficiencies in ANT accounts of space and it offers an alternative approach to conceptualising scientific research objects. Building on this analysis it considers how the spaces of geomorphological inquiry are reworked to accommodate interdisciplinary research objects. In this way, the study provides a strong theoretical contribution to the literature. However, this theoretical contribution is complemented by an important empirical base. The study is one of only a few Science and Technology Studies (STS) analyses to consider the geosciences. Focusing on late twentieth and early twenty-first century geomorphology, it provides an insight into an interdisciplinary field of research found in both geography and geology departments. In this way it offers an important contribution to the histories of geography literature and the literature on interdisciplinarity. Relatedly, through its attention to the interdisciplinary field of biogeomorphology, the study provides a bridge between existing STS literatures on the biosciences and nascent explorations of the geosciences.

This dissertation focuses on the key role that big data can play in minimizing the perceived disconnect between social theory and quantitative methods in the discipline of geography. It takes as its starting point the geographic concept of space, which is conceptualized very differently in social theory versus quantitative methodology. Contrary to this disparity, an examination of the disciplinary history reveals a number of historic precedents and potential pathways for a rapprochement, especially when combined with some of the new possibilities of big data. This dissertation also proposes solutions to two common barriers to the adoption of big data in the social sciences: accessing and collecting such data and, subsequently, meaningful analysis. These methods and the theoretical foundation are combined in three case studies that show the successful integration of a quantitative research methodology with social theories on space. The case studies demonstrate how such an approach can create new and alternative understandings of urban space. In doing so it answers three specific research questions: (1) How can big data facilitate the integration of social theory on space with quantitative research methodology? (2) What are the practical challenges and solutions to moving “beyond the geotag” when utilizing big data in geographical research? (3) How can the quantitative analysis of big data provide new and useful insight in the complex character of social space? More specifically, what insights does such an analysis of relational social space provide about urban mobility and cognitive neighborhoods?

The problem of developing a generalized impulse as a function of a set of parameters is investigated. The proposed generalized impulse alters an existing orbit by producing, over some period of time, a change in velocity, ΔV, as well as a change in position, Δr. The generalized impulse is described by parameters associated with an instantaneous change in velocity as well as parameters associated with an atmospheric skip trajectory. Closed form solutions are obtained through several changes of independent variable, the use of modified Chapman variables and the consequent analytical integration of the uncoupled equations. The closed form solutions contain between two and six parameters depending on the complexity of the desired skip trajectory. Fuel optimal transfer orbits are obtained using the generalized impulse along with Keplerian arcs and instantaneous changes in velocity. Families of coplanar and noncoplanar transfers for circular orbit to circular orbit are numerically generated. The generated transfer trajectories involve the rendezvous of two vehicles. The orbits are not globally optimal but rather optimal for the specified number and type of velocity impulses specified. The optimal solution to the nonlinear problem is determined via sequential quadratic programming which satisfies the Kuhn-Tucker optimality conditions for constrained minimization. It is found that for transfer between coplanar and noncoplanar orbits, solutions using the generalized impulse compare favorably with solutions obtained by optimal control theory. Numerical solution to complex problems involving transfer from general orbit to general orbit were not obtained.

One of the major problems in computer vision involves dealing with uncertain information. Occlusion, dissimilar views, insufficient illumination, insufficient resolution, and degradation give rise to imprecise data. At the same time, incomplete or local knowledge of the scene gives rise to imprecise interpretation rules. Uncertainty arises at different processing levels of computer vision either because of the imprecise data or because of the imprecise interpretation rules. It is natural to build computer vision systems that incorporate uncertainty reasoning. The Dempster-Shafer (D-S) theory of evidence is appealing for coping with uncertainty hierarchically. However, very little work has been done to apply D-S theory to practical vision systems because some important problems are yet to be resolved.

The thesis is primarily a proposal for a research methodology. Its concern is with the analysis of southern African domestic architecture, which, it is argued, has become separated from the study of social systems and human behaviour. It is suggested that architectural research needs to be grounded in a coherent theoretical framework of a sociological nature if the meaning of buildings in society is to be adequately understood. By combing Bill Hillier et al.' s theory of ' space syntax' with Anthony Giddens ' theory of ' structuration' , a set of concepts and techniques for the study of domestic architecture is formulated. This model is demonstrated using two dwellings in the Cape Town metropolitan area. The emphasis throughout is with understanding systematically how spatial design is integrated with the wider aspects of domestic social life. To reach this understanding, a major theme in southern African architectural studies is examined. This relates to a persistent categorisation, based on formal and functional criteria, of African architecture as 'traditional' , against which is counterposed the more modern or 'designed' architecture of western cultures. As such, two approaches to the study of African architecture on the sub-continent are identified. On the one hand there are those writings that study aspects of built form by focusing on stylistic and technological details. On the other, the emphasis is on the function of buildings, focusing mostly on the non-physical principles of social organisation. Both approaches have as their objective the explication of the social meaning of built form, and each generally excludes the subject and approach of the other. The view adopted in this investigation is that each form of analysis on its own is inadequate. Theories of form and theories of function must, it is argued, necessarily incorporate each other if a rounded and systematic analysis of meaning is to take place. The problem for research is thus one of establishing an adequate methodological basis for understanding in theory that which is materially realised in built form already, namely the integration of society and space. The concern ill this dissertation is consequently with an attempt to answer two seemingly simple questions: How do buildings affect behaviour and activity patterns? and, how do interactions among people affect the form of buildings? By integrating the methodological and descriptive procedures in space syntax with the interpretive framework for social system analysis in structuration theory, an attempt is made to provide sane answers to these questions and thereby to contribute towards a non-functionalist theory of architecture. The conclusions are firstly that the pervasive distinction between 'traditional' and 'modern' architecture is unnecessary and misleading. Secondly, theoretical aspects of both syntax and structuration are identified that may be useful to the development of both.

This case study examined the potential of creating collaborative co-working spaces at the University of Arizona. Through qualitative research on the effectiveness of co-working spaces already in place at three different universities across the nation, this study identified key features that could successfully be implemented at the University of Arizona. These features were a co-working space built around a student organization centered on collaboration and innovation. The latest in technological resources to aid in project execution and learning. Lastly, a partnership with a local makerspace providing students of all backgrounds and interests to collaboratively work on building physical items in a space they might not have had previous access to. While research was limited to university affiliated websites and articles on co-working spaces, scholarly articles on this specific subject where not found to further back conclusive findings and recommendations.

In recent years, Fine Art practice has become assimilated into the framework and culture of academic research. 1bis move has not been an easy process and practice itself hovers uneasily (as it should), around the edges of acceptability as research per se. Debates continue around the wording of descriptors to qualify this type of research: 'practice-based', 'practice-led', 'contextualised practice'. Practice, within this search for sufficient terms to define and contain it within a research culture with strictly defined parameters, becomes a secondary endeavour. My thesis questions whether the work of the artist is primary in terms of research, in the sense not only of the production of objects, or events in time, but also taking into account the processes through which the artwork is conceived, processes of thinking and intuition, which often remain beyond description. The role of creative practice in research has the potential, through questioning different types of 'knowledge', to include experiential knowledge within research. My text, somewhere between artwork and academic text is one of fragmentation and dissembling, reflecting the 'attempt' or 'essay', which ultimately remains more concerned with the openness of process than any definitive answer.

"The Preschools Integration", one of the important issues of early childhood care and education system reform of Taiwan, was proposed by the Executive Yuan in 1997.After that, many transitive issues were proposed still. The draft law of "Early Childhood Education and Care" was proposed by Ministry of Education in the middle of 2005. And the title of the draft law was modified further to "Children's Education and Care" by Executive Yuan in 2006. Finally, under 31 lawmakers’ proposal, the draft law was changed the title to "Early Childhood Education and Care" in 2010, that law specified for the children aged from 2 to 6. The law was read through first on March 1 of 2011 and was completed on June 10 of the same year after the third reading agreement, and came into force on New Year's Day of 2012. So called "Integration of the preschools", in simple terms, is to integrate the current "Early Childhood Education" and "childcare services" system, and to solve the problems arising from the overlapping part of the "Preschool Early Childhood Education" and "Child Care". Before the integration, the kindergarten is dedicated institution for the preschool education purpose, and the children of 4-year-old enough are welcomed to enter the institutions before entering primary school; Whereas, nursery Babysitting is a kind of dedicated agency for the purpose of child caring, child welfare and childcare services. It can be divided into two parts, the children of, from 2-month–old to 2-year-old, are welcomed to enter the Babysitting part. And the children of, from 2-year–old to 6-year-old, are welcomed to enter the child care part. In the physical situation, there are many service overlaps and function similarities between these two parts. However, in terms of organization system, kindergartens and nurseries belong to administrative department and social welfare department respectively. Thus, kindergartens are regulated in accordance with the laws and regulations of education-related, whereas, nurseries are regulated in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations of the Child Welfare. With the social changes in Taiwan, especially, the big changes in family structure and low birth rate, the two authorities, kindergarten and nursery systems, are regulated by different departments. It reveals the unreasonable phenomenon that the children of the same age will accept different quality education and care. Therefore, the "preschools integration" is an urgent topic in response to the needs of the time planning trends and current status. However, in response to the integration of preschools, public kindergartens will recruit much younger children than before and also a large adjustment will make in spatial planning in order to meet the ergonomic needs of young children.

Consider an open subset O of the complex plane and a function f : O ÝÑ C. We understand the concept of holomorphicity of a complex-valued function. Suppose a function f defined on O takes values in a locally convex topological vector space (the complex plane is one particular example of a locally convex topological vector space). We want to study the notion of holomorphicity for f in this general setting. In the paper “Sur certains espaces de fonctions holomorphes I” [1], Alexandre Grothendieck deals with the concept of holomorphicity of vector-valued functions and duality. We read, understand, reproduce and at times fill in necessary details of the content of section 2 and a portion of section 4 of the paper. We understand the extension of Lebesgue integral to vector-valued functions on a measure space, named after I.M. Gelfand and B.J. Pettis as Gelfand-Pettis integral or Pettis integral (page 77 in [2]). Using the definition of Pettis integral and some results from complex analysis we introduce three notions of holomorphicity for the function f: holomorphicity of f on the open set O, weak derivability of f at a point zo P O and strong differentiability of f at a point zo P O. In Chapter 2 (section 2 in [1]) of this thesis, we study the conditions under which the first two notions of holomorphicity, i.e., f is holomorphic on the open set O and f is weakly derivable at every point of O coincide. Further the same conditions will imply the strong differentiability of f at each point of O. Also, we study Cauchy’s integral formula and Taylor’s expansion for vector valued holomorphic functions in Chapter 2. In section 4 of the paper “Sur certains espaces de fonctions holomorphes I” [1], for a subset of the Riemann sphere, Grothendieck introduces the space Pp ,Eq as the space of all locally holomorphic functions on vanishing at 8 if 8 P . He further considers two locally convex topological vector spaces E and F in separate duality and proves that the spaces Pp 1,Eq and Pp 2, Fq, where 1 and 2 are complementary subsets of the Riemann sphere, are in separate duality under some general conditions. In Chapter 3 of this thesis, which constitute the main portion of the thesis, we study the space Pp ,Eq and further present the argument of Grothendieck for separating duality with all details

Abstract Campus space is not only a place where students learn and live, but also the main place they develop their character. In term of its function, it does not simply reflect its “usability value” only. Campus space systems are living space where students accept traditional and localized education. Meanwhile, they are the results and accumulation of all the alumni, their parents in the community and the school staffs. In addition to the formal curriculum, it also provides the students with “situational education”. By making the best of its educability and symbolism, the imaging expression and interpretation would have potential and profound effect on “situational education”. That is to say, campus space that may lead to the image is destined to have close contact with the learning experiences and the students’ lives. Campus space image can be divided into six groups: they are learning and living image, historic and humane image, innovatory and modern image, natural and ever-lasting image, community and localized image, and religious and totemic image. The school operators should really realize the fact that the user is the subject of the campus space. They should understand that campus space image is not only the medium of hidden curriculum, but also a medium that consolidates all the participants. The campus space the school operators deliberately arrange and construct would let the learning figure-students sense it , move it , and educate with it. This would definitely broaden students’ learning and bring about the linkage with their experiencing memory. A school operator should ponder over the form and meaning of the campus space, make good use of the ways of “putting into”, “implanting”, “and “integrating”, combine all kinds of learning theories with cultural value, and set up a mechanism that the students and their parents, teachers and enthusiastic people in the community can participate in. Thus, a well-established educable and meaningful campus space may exist, and it can help the participants increase the ability to perceive the surrounding environment, urge the identity of campus space and localization, and even mold the educational quality of the campus space and launch unlimited possibilities.

Abstract The expression of each roof of the building is different, while at the same time having exclusively for its own spaces or activities. Away from the hustle of daily life, the independent roof spaces appeared to be the second layer of urban landscape floating in the air, which has named “Roof-Scape” in this research. The realm expansion depending on individual needs presents an informal construction system of annex, neglecting either the regularity of the city or legal rules. Therefore, the exploration of reason and space type of the architectural roof space construction in Taiwan framed the intention of this research. Field study on regional roof type, structure, materials and functions has recorded with photographs and models. Observation database classification suggested some basic elements of the existing buildings. The keynote of the design operation in this research is to develop a new space plan according to these basic elements. The attempt of breaking rules and trying to implant a new type of space plan in the framework of existing roof space program has operated in three stages. Stage one, remodeling the roof spaces in respect of the use of parametric design tools discussing the possibility of different spatial scales and forms. Stage two, discussing space within living behavior, using three different residential scales with parametric design tools to explore the possibility of different types of roof residential space. Stage three, developing the new form of roof space under the view of urban landscape with four actual sites of four different scales. The anticipation of this study is in an attempt to establish the possibility of another kind of urban renewal strategy under the framework of the existing urban roof space. There is an expectation to provide new attitudes and ideas for urban renewal, and keep the public interest to continue to study for the future.

This research is the case study of Furniture Library. It is a research of inner space planning of the Furniture Bibliotheca HDG. Besides doing research on subject related documentations, this paper also designs questionnaires in regards of the readers demographic, library space allocation and business management of Furniture Bibliotheca HDG. Based on the analysis and result of the questionnaires, the paper will provide suggestions and serve as a reference for Furniture Bibliotheca HDG to enhance their service quality. This research mainly focuses on the space design with the questionnaires and the literature analysis as subsidiaryThe questionnaires were given in the Furniture Bibliotheca HDG for the readers to fill it. The survey period lasted for 110 days, starting from December 12th, 2004 to March 31st, 2005 with ninety-seven effective questionnaires collected. Besides, telephone interview has been done to collect related literature information. The result of the survey reflects: (1) Readers are mainly aged 26-45, undergraduate; live in the Northern Taiwan. (2) Until now most of the readers are visitors The library has not been fully utilized by professional readers. (3) Most of the visitors are satisfied, or at least satisfy with the spacing and contains of the library. (4) Most of the visitors agree that Furniture Bibliotheca HDG is a home library. (5) Most of the visitors agree that the library obviously can fulfill the need of furniture professional readers. (6) Most of the readers concur the concept of specialized library can be promoted in Taiwan. (7) More than 90% of the readers are willing to sponsor the running of the library. Suggestions on the arrangement of books, transportation problem, furniture library network, and fund raising to continue business are provided by the end of the research conclusion.

There is a real continuous distance between people, we call personal space. In this study, we will explore the human body as the center, measured from each position and direction of the individual space which required interpersonal distance. When the subjects were standing at three positions, six circumstances, strangers in three aspects, five directions gradually approaching, how much interpersonal distance to maintain between the two so the subjects would not feel that his or hers personal space was being violated. This experiment will be conducted with the stop-distance method. The subjects of the experiment are 15males, 15females, and total of 30. We conclude that: standing in three positions and under six circumstances, strangers gradually approach from three aspects, five directions, location, situation in the center, the left arm against the wall, back against the wall, facing the wall, and personal space under these four different circumstances is affected in different ways, that shows if strangers gradually approach from different directions the interpersonal distance would be affected. Position, the situation are in the corner, left side of the back against the wall, and both left and right sides of the back against the wall, the strangers approach from different directions and the subject''s personal space is no affected, that means strangers gradually approach from different directions interpersonal distance is not affected. When the subjects’ personal space was in a different location or circumstances, the personal space is maximum in the center, second to that the wall, personal space in the corner of the wall is minimal. Also the interpersonal distance will be affected differently from different directions, positions and under different circumstances. Interpersonal distance between the two situations will vary. The height would not pose a threat and oppression on the stranger who is gradually approaching in any position nor under any circumstances.

With the change of time and the environment, the impacts of low-birth rate become more and more obvious to the environment , and especially more serious in school systems. Except for the books、classmates and any other activities,the space is also the emphasis in students' memories. The emotions and the life experiences of doing kinds of things with people will be deferent in deferent kinds of space,and the structures of space will also affect peoples' feeling at the same time. Students must have the experience of reforming the campus surroundings. With the progress of time,the education diversify gradually,and to respond the deferent demands of teaching courses,the space in campus changes gradually too. This phenomenon reflects that there are interactions between space and human behavior. Environment changes a lot in terms of social development and economic growth in decades,not only the communications in business and politicization but also in society and livelihood are getting more frequent. At vigorous developing of the internet,we can recognize foreign information、culture、custom and tradition more easily,therefor,our cogitations are deferent with the past. The pressure of raising children changes to owing to any of all living problems,and it turns the way of social development to low-birth rate. That will be a huge change of the schools that target students to service. We can understand that there are interactions between time、the distributions of spaces and the users' behavior via literature reviews. The investigations of the situation of space usings help us understand the users' demands on using spaces. This research takes Chinese Culture University for example to study how are the situations of the students' extracurricular use of campus spaces,and adopts questionnaire to investigate among students to understand the interactions between deferent lenth of time、environment scale and the property of activities. After quantitative analysis and generalizing the lows of effects,we can understand the demands of students on using spaces. Hopes that we can propose valid suggestions on the planning of campus space in the future.

In this study, case analysis and implementation scenarios to explore the evolution of the style of the bathroom space and functionality changes to interior materials, colors, lighting, equipment, and other design factors to study the style set, and make recommendations to better design future bathroom space can be a basis to become a reference to follow.
