In recent years, the combination of novel context-aware systems with the Internet of Things (IoT) has received great attention with the advances in network and context-awareness technologies. Various context-aware consumer electronics based on IoT for intelligent and personalized user-centric services have been introduced. However, although the paradigm of the IoT has evolved from smart objects into social objects, the existing context-aware systems have not reflected the changes in these paradigms well. Therefore, this paper proposes a social enabler (S-Enabler) in order to overcome this limitation. The S-Enabler plays an important role in converting the existing objects into social objects. This paper presents the middleware architecture and cooperation processes for a social IoT-based smart system. In this paper, the S-Enabler is designed to be applied to a vehicle and an energy saving service is introduced by using the S-Enabler. The proposed energy saving service can reduce energy consumption and fuel consumption based on social behaviors such as sharing or competition. The performance of the S-Enabler is discussed through a simple vehicle service scenario. The experimental results show that the S-Enabler reduced fuel consumption by up to 31.7%.

In this article, we address the problem of prolonging the battery life of Internet of Things (IoT) nodes by introducing a smart energy harvesting framework for IoT networks supported by femtocell access points (FAPs) based on the principles of Contract Theory and Reinforcement Learning. Initially, the IoT nodes’ social and physical characteristics are identified and captured through the concept of IoT node types. Then, Contract Theory is adopted to capture the interactions among the FAPs, who provide personalized rewards, i.e., charging power, to the IoT nodes to incentivize them to invest their effort, i.e., transmission power, to report their data to the FAPs. The IoT nodes’ and FAPs’ contract-theoretic utility functions are formulated, following the network economic concept of the involved entities’ personalized profit. A contract-theoretic optimization problem is introduced to determine the optimal personalized contracts among each IoT node connected to a FAP, i.e., a pair of transmission and charging power, aiming to jointly guarantee the optimal satisfaction of all the involved entities in the examined IoT system. An artificial intelligent framework based on reinforcement learning is introduced to support the IoT nodes’ autonomous association to the most beneficial FAP in terms of long-term gained rewards. Finally, a detailed simulation and comparative results are presented to show the pure operation performance of the proposed framework, as well as its drawbacks and benefits, compared to other approaches. Our findings show that the personalized contracts offered to the IoT nodes outperform by a factor of four compared to an agnostic type approach in terms of the achieved IoT system’s social welfare.

Community Energy Internet (CEI) integrates electric network and thermal network based on combined heat and power (CHP) to improve the economy of energy system in Smart Community. In the CEI, an energy sharing framework for prosumers equipped with photovoltaic-thermal (PVT) system and heat pump (HP) is introduced. Supporting by the PVT and HP, the prosumer has four role attributes with either heat or electricity producer/consumer. A social welfare maximization model is built for the CEI, including PVT-HP prosumers, CHP system, and utility grid. Considering there are multiply participants in the local market of CEI, the social welfare maximization problem is decoupled by using Lagrange multiplier method. Moreover, a consensus-based fully distributed algorithm is designed to solve the problem. Finally, six residential buildings are selected as the case study to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

The Internet of Things (IoT) has become one of the most widely research paradigms, having received much attention from the research community in the last few years. IoT is the paradigm that creates an internet-connected world, where all the everyday objects capture data from our environment and adapt it to our needs. However, the implementation of IoT is a challenging task and all the implementation scenarios require the use of different technologies and the emergence of new ones, such as Edge Computing (EC). EC allows for more secure and efficient data processing in real time, achieving better performance and results. Energy efficiency is one of the most interesting IoT scenarios. In this scenario sensors, actuators and smart devices interact to generate a large volume of data associated with energy consumption. This work proposes the use of an Edge-IoT platform and a Social Computing framework to build a system aimed to smart energy efficiency in a public building scenario. The system has been evaluated in a public building and the results make evident the notable benefits that come from applying Edge Computing to both energy efficiency scenarios and the framework itself. Those benefits included reduced data transfer from the IoT-Edge to the Cloud and reduced Cloud, computing and network resource costs.

Contrary to the rapid evolution experienced in the last decade of Information and Communication Technologies and particularly the Internet of Things, electric power distribution systems have remained exceptionally steady for a long time. Energy users are no longer passive actors; the prosumer is expected to be the primary agent in the Future Grid. Demand Side Management refers to the management of energy production and consumption at the demand side, and there seems to be an increasing concern about the scalability of Demand Side Management services. The creation of prosumer communities leveraging the Smart Grid to improve energy production and consumption patterns has been proposed in the literature, and several works concerned with scalability of Demand Side Management services group prosumers to improve Demand Side Management services scalability. In our previous work, we coin the term Social Internet of Energy to refer to the integration between devices, prosumers and groups of prosumers via social relationships. In this work, we develop an algorithm to coordinate the different clusters we create using the clustering method by load profile compatibility (instead of similarity). Our objective is to explore the possibilities of the cluster-by-compatibility heuristic we proposed in our previous work. We perform experiments using synthetic and real datasets. Results show that we can obtain a global reduction in Peak-to-Average Ratio with datasets containing up to 200 rosumers and creating up to 6 Prosumer Community Groups, and imply that those Prosumer Community Groups can perform load rescheduling semi-autonomously and in parallel with each other.

The Social Internet of Things (SIoT) can be seen as integrating the social networking concept into the Internet of Things (IoT). Such networks enable different devices to form social relationships among themselves depending on pre-programmed rules and the preferences of their owners. When SIoT devices encounter one another on the spur of the moment, they seek out each other’s assistance. The connectivity of such smart objects reveals new horizons for innovative applications empowering objects with cognizance. This enables smart objects to socialize with each other based on mutual interests and social aspects. Trust building in social networks has provided a new perspective for providing services to providers based on relationships like human ones. However, the connected IoT nodes in the community may show a lack of interest in forwarding packets in the network communication to save their resources, such as battery, energy, bandwidth, and memory. This act of selfishness can highly degrade the performance of the network. To enhance the cooperation among nodes in the network a novel technique is needed to improve the performance of the network. In this article, we address the issue of the selfishness of the nodes through the formation of a credible community based on honesty. A social process is used to form communities and select heads in these communities. The selected community heads having social attributes prove effective in determining the social behavior of the nodes as honest or selfish. Unlike other schemes, the dishonest nodes are isolated in a separate domain, and they are given several chances to rejoin the community after increasing their honesty levels. The proposed social technique was simulated using MATLAB and compared with existing schemes to show its effectiveness. Our proposed technique outperforms the existing techniques in terms of throughput, overhead, packet delivery ratio (PDR), and packet-delivery latency.

The increased use of the Internet and cell phones has made it possible for most people to communicate, surf the web, or transfer data anywhere in the world. Social engineering only requires a computer with Internet access or a working smartphone/iPhone. With online forums, the Dark Web, a thousand hacker books on Amazon, these social engineering techniques are being tweaked and modified into techniques that rival the deadliest cookie monster virus or malware. The FBI has found that criminals can use low-tech mediums, like Motorola cell phones, use a historically winning script (Microsoft software fix, or an endangered child) and people will give up personal information, money, or even use deadly force. Finally, this paper describes these new techniques and how they are evolving more effectively in this post-covid and Internetfocused world.

The internet penetration on young villagers gives rise to question about its effects on the social interaction and behavior patterns as it accelerates the interaction with the wider network. However, the internet could possibly decrease both the social interaction with local people at the village and the dependency toward native villagers as internet utilization allows the users to be more selective in terms of interactions according to their interests. This research aims to examine the impacts of the Internet through a dystopian view by comparing the degrees of senses of place, participation in local activities, and social capital among internet and non-internet users using a statistical approach. The analysis of variance and linear regression were employed in the present study. The results revealed that the internet did strengthen both broad and local social capital. It also supported young villager’s participation in local activities. Nevertheless, the internet was observed to decline the villager’s sense of place, especially the desire to remain a resident in the native village. Better access to information and network gained by the users elevated their chances to move outside the village when better opportunities were observed elsewhere.

Blockchain technology provides a comprehensive solution to user access and energy trading for distributed energy Internet. Achieving market-based pricing, increasing the earnings of energy suppliers, attracting foreign capital and facilitating the upgrade of solar and wind energy are pressing issues. Drawing on the practices of centralised exchanges and blockchain cryptocurrency, the author designed the Cryptocurrency Energy Trading Platform (CETP), dividing the permissioned blockchain into the Energy Blockchain Platform (EBP) and the Energy Cryptocurrency Exchange (ECE). The frequently used real-time bidding scenario and the seldom-used power-using scenario are separated from each other. A market welfare model for real-time bidding is established and verified. With Energy Blockchain Cryptocurrency (EBC) as the trading medium, the platform allows external bidders to get involved in the bidding and transactions, which not only attracts the social capital to be used in the development of energy Internet but also helps stabilise the energy market prices, thus, advancing the energy Internet.

Many policies and strategies have been developed for the pursuit of environmental sustainability and the guidance to a green society. Many enterprises have taken meaningful steps to improve their own environmental performance through corporate sustainability and environmental management. Environmental management contributes to significant improvements to environmental performance of the enterprises. This paper aims to evaluate the Renewable Energy Enterprises performance in the Internet in Thessaloniki Prefecture regarding the characteristics of sustainability using Multi-criteria Decision Analysis. TOPSIS method was used to provide a ranking of the Renewable Energy Enterprises according to their sustainability and finally conclude to a benchmark. According to the results of the research, the Renewable Energy Enterprises achieve a good level of sustainability but not the optimum. However, the entrepreneurs should adopt modern environmental policy, sustainable marketing, green network framework and certified environmental management system in order to consider their enterprise sustainable.

The article deals with the problem of studying social mobility and classifying “social lifts” in the political sphere. The high relevance of this topic today is due to the growing politicisation of young people, as the result of this the social exclusion of young people is formed. Young people have a strong opinion that “social lifts” don’t exist or work. So young people sublimate their political energy in a protest activity unable to express their positions and interests legally.This article analysed both the political values of contemporary youth based on in-depth interviews (collective and individual) with 164 members of the young generation between the ages of 18 and 30, and the vertical mobility channels known from biographies of successful politicians at federal, regional and municipal levels. By this approach the typical positions from which a political career starts, the “entry points” into politics for newcomers have been identified, the valid mechanisms and institutions for upward mobility have been classified, and links with other career aspects have been revealed.The biographies of 800 officials and deputies throughout Russia (in eight federal districts) have been used and the career trajectories of representatives of government and local authorities have been analysed in the study. The classification of “social lifts” has been presented, their effectiveness and prevalence has been revealed, and links between education, profession, work experience and socio-demographic characteristics have been established.

The digital transformation era is in full motion, steadily making its way into common households, triggering changes in behavior as well as consumption patterns. While some changes can occur only within the context of the household mean income, such as the upgrade of appliances or devices, correlated with a personal preference in adopting such tools and technologies, there is one area that must keep with the pace of change, regardless of the household’s subjective criteria: energy consumption. The objective of this paper is to analyze the impact of digitalization on the household energy consumption, with the intent to understand trends, anticipate future changes as well as impact energy consumption efficiency. The results of the panel regressions based on the quantity of consumed energy and the popularity of several internet activities have revealed an inverse relation. The increased number of consumers doing certain internet activities such as: internet calling, reading online newspapers, activities on social media networks and uploading content online determine a lower energy consumption for that economy. There was no significant evidence for the relation between the energy consumption and internet activities such as: reading e-mails, searching for, doing internet banking and online purchases.

In order to promote the value circulation of energy resources and improve energy efficiency, credible energy sharing between Internet of Things Devices (IoTDs) came into being. However, sometimes IoTDs do not obtain the required energy in the required time period, resulting in less active participation in energy sharing. To address these challenges, this paper first proposes a credible energy transaction model based on the distributed ledger blockchain at the Edge of the Internet of Things, where the Edge Cloud Server (ECS) can collect a large number of surplus energy resources of IoTDs in a secure and credible energy sharing environment and share them with other IoTDs in urgent need of charging. Meanwhile, in order to attract IoTDs to participate in energy sharing for a long time and meet the energy demand of ECS to the maximum extent, a smart contract-based Expected Social Welfare Maximized double auction incentive mechanism of Single ECS to Multi-IoTDs (ESWM-StM) is proposed to enable dynamic and adaptive energy sharing from multiple IoTDs to a single ECS. In addition, this paper compares the proposed algorithm with the benchmark method in terms of energy-sharing cost and long-term utility. The simulation results show that the proposed incentive mechanism can enable IoTDs to provide more surplus energy per unit cost to meet the energy demand of ECSs, and can sustainably attract more energy trading participants to enhance the expected social welfare in the long term.

This smart city application supports the vision of the future of cities, which aims to exploit ICTs, namely the internet of things technologies (IoT), for the provision of value-added services. Furthermore, this paper presents technical solutions for energy control and comfort at home for proof of the concept of smart city infrastructure applications. The demonstration described here is about how smart applications can manage energy and comfort control in a room that has a number of people and electrical equipment, with each being a source of heat.

Abstract In the wave of China’s new energy revolution and digital revolution, advanced information technologies such as big data, cloud computing, Internet of Things, mobile Internet, and artificial intelligence have been deeply integrated with the energy industry, and energy big data has emerged as the times require. Energy big data promotes new models and new formats in the energy sector. The vigorous rise of energy big data has injected new impetus into the energy transition. With the explosive growth of energy data and the continuous improvement of data processing capabilities, energy big data has become a new element of social production, and different social entities have corresponding business needs. Therefore, this article is based on the three basic business promotion theories of growth cycle, growth framework and growth strategy with growth hacking theory as the core, and considers the different characteristics of government, enterprises and residents in terms of customer acquisition cost and life value. Finally, this article puts forward energy big data service business promotion models for governments, enterprises and residents which are based on the five stages of the user life cycle.

In order to implement the green transformation strategy that follows the sustainable development concept as the guiding ideology, this paper combines the Internet of Things technology to construct green energy economic efficiency and enterprise environmental cost control system. Moreover, according to the current situation of economic, social, and environmental development, this paper establishes a scientific, complete, and systematic comprehensive evaluation index system. When choosing system assessment indicators, make sure they represent the coupling connection between the three. Furthermore, this article employs Internet of Things technologies to gather and monitor data on company energy usage and emissions, as well as to construct an intelligent model. According to the results of the simulation experiment, it can be seen that the green energy economic efficiency and enterprise environmental cost control system based on the Internet of Things proposed in this paper has good green economic efficiency.

From the perspective of social network behavior, our paper discusses the relationship between agricultural entrepreneurial social network behavior and entrepreneurial financing performance in an Internet crowdfunding setting, and investigates the moderating role of entrepreneurial team size. In this paper, the data-mining method is used to capture and collate data regarding 7585 venture projects on an Internet crowdfunding platform between 2014 and 2017. Ordinary least squares (OLS) and Probit models are applied to the empirical test. The results show that first, compared with other industries, the effect of agricultural entrepreneurs’ quality information disclosure on entrepreneurship financing performance is lower, whereas the effect of their social network interaction is higher. Second, the entrepreneurial team size has a positive moderating role on the former and a negative moderating role on the latter. Our research is of significance for agricultural enterprises to raise their financial performance in Internet crowdfunding, especially for Chinese agricultural micro-enterprises.

Recent years have seen an increase in the role of social media in the communication of energy sector companies (ESCs) with consumers. Currently, consumers look for information, create it themselves, and share it with other Internet users. eWOM communication means that energy companies, firstly, must be present in social media so that consumers can get to know them better, and secondly, they must consciously shape their image according to the expectations of their customers. One-way communication, such as customer satisfaction measurements, is no longer enough to know their preferences. Market trends indicate that for current buyers—both consumer and non-consumer products—the image of a “green product” or a “green company” is expected. Only a few companies report that they are harmful for environment. All companies report that they are generally community friendly. The consumer would like to know, in particular, about the harmfulness to the environment. Thus, there is a knowledge gap that the companies are not filling. In addition to the advertised satisfaction indicators, you can also test customers’ perceptions of environmental responsibility. That is, the research and results in the area of social responsibility must also be accompanied by environmental responsibility. Therefore, the article aims to indicate whether the level of consumer engagement in social media affects the perception of the green energy business model and how the attitude and pro-environmental behavior of social media users affects this perception. The paper also identifies factors related to social media that influence the perception of ESCs.

Purpose – Research described in this paper focuses on a need to consult inhabitants about a new technical solution introduced in a country-wide scale like it is in the case of a smart metering system – finally, all energy consumers will become its users. Its social acceptance is required. So it is a good example of an ethical approach to introduce an innovative solution in the society. The conducted research was intended to help developing strategy to build appropriate relationships with energy consumers during the planned exchange of energy meters and to prepare energy consumers to make use of all functionality of the installed meters. The course of the conducted research and its results are presented. The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach – The described forms of cooperation with people are direct interviews in focus groups and a questionnaire survey involving representative social sample (surveys have been conducted during direct meetings and via internet). They are described as a case study. An agenda of each interview and also a content of a questionnaire cover topics within the area of natural environment protection, a need to save energy, individual activities leading to energy saving, smart metering, its benefits and potential threats including risk of intrusion privacy. Selected results are included. Findings – Consultations (with energy consumers) based on focus groups and questionnaire surveys have been well accepted by the participants. Respondents feel a need to express their opinions on a given subject. Citizens' attention concerns mostly the economic aspects of a new system. Energy consumers are able to formulate and declare strong and weak points of smart meters. Some threats concerning intrusion of privacy have been expressed by respondents and included in the paper. Practical implications – General conclusion is the following – each large system is not only a set of technical devices and software routines but it is also a system built by humans and for humans. Wide consultations on a smart metering bring benefits and help ensuring social acceptance. The raising social awareness of the need to save energy is one more benefit from the undertaken activities. An importance of consulting people about new solution involving all inhabitants is emphasized. Direct and structured interviews are the preferred form of social consultations. it is highlighted by some of the pollsters involved in the survey that respondents tell the truth rather in a direct conversation than in a remote mode via internet (involved pollsters have had an opportunity to check if respondents' statements are true). Originality/value – The described research took place in November 2012. Earlier only technical experts and academia were involved in discussions concerning smart metering. Selected data are included to show results of the research. The presented approach may help interested parties to introduce new solution and to avoid social opposition, rejection of the idea and misunderstandings.

The usage of social media applications such as Youtube, Facebook, and other applications is rapidly increasing with each passing day. These applications are used for uploading informational content such as images, videos, and voices, which results in exponential traffic overhead. Due to these overheads (high bandwidth consumption), the service providers fail to provide high-speed and low latency internet to users around the globe. The current internet cannot cope with such high data traffic due to its fixed infrastructure (host centric-network) degrading the network performance. A new internet paradigm known as Information Centric Networks (ICN) was introduced based on content-oriented addressing. The concept of ICN is to entertain the request locally by neighbor nodes without accessing the source, which will help offload the network’s data traffic. ICN can mitigate traffic overhead and meet future Internet requirements. In this work, we propose a novel decentralized placement scheme named self-organized cooperative caching (SOCC) for mobile ICN to improve the overall network performance through efficient bandwidth utilization and less traffic overhead. The proposed scheme outperforms the state-of-the-art schemes in terms of energy consumption by 55%, average latency, and cache hit rate by a minimum of 35%.

With the development of the Energy Internet and the Internet of Things, diversified social production activities are making the interactions between energy, business, and information flow among physical, social, and information systems increasingly complex. As the carrier of information and the hub between physical and social systems, the effective management of energy big data has attracted the attention of scholars. This work indicates that China’s energy companies have carried out a series of activities that are centered on energy big data collection, as well as development and exchange, and that the energy big data ecosystem has begun to take shape. However, the research on and the application of energy big data are mainly limited to micro-level fields, and the development of energy big data in China remains disordered because the corresponding macro-level instructive governance frameworks are lacking. In this work, to facilitate the sustainable development of the energy big data ecosystem and to solve existing problems, such as the difficult-to-determine governance boundaries and the difficult-to-coordinate interests, and to analyze the structure and mechanism of the energy big data ecosystem, data curation is introduced into energy big data governance, and a paradigm is constructed for sustainable energy big data curation that encompasses its full life cycle, including the planning, integration, application, and maintenance stages. Key paradigmatic issues are analyzed in-depth, including data rights, fusion, security, and transactions.

Purpose Limitations of producing energy and the increasing demands in the electricity market in Iran have not only drawn the attention of authorities in the energy industry toward optimization of energy consumption, but also created marketing approaches toward these objectives. In this respect, it is important and even necessary to modify energy consumption behaviors. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of the criteria of an effective Internet advertisement for modification of energy consumption. Design/methodology/approach To provide a detailed understanding of customers’ perceptions of energy consumption advertising, a survey study was conducted. The research model is first validated and the formulated hypotheses are tested using the structural equation model (SEM). Findings The results showed that the audience’s attention, interest and desire for a piece of advertisement can predict their consumption behavior. Originality/value This study is one of the pioneer studies that highlights the importance of advertising toward modification of energy consumption. It seems that, the identification of the causal relations among attention, interest, desire and action, has not yet been clearly validated in the previous literature. This research contributes to the literature by developing and testing a comprehensive research model using SEM. So, the current paper offers vital guidelines to social marketers who are planning to modify energy consumption.

The ability to respond to complex demands in a hypermediated society such as the current one, in young people who navigate the digital world, demands a combination of practical skills, knowledge, values, and social components mobilized together to influence the ways of communicating, acquiring values, and training. Taking this context into account, the following research aims to discover if there is a relationship between the use of the Internet and the social values perceived by university students highlighting the variables of gender, age, and academic year. Regarding the methodology, the type of study is non-experimental with a correlational design, with a sample of 305 university students from the faculties of human and social sciences, as well as education in the Spanish and Chilean context. To collect data on the variable presence of social values, the “Social Values Questionnaire” was developed, and to collect data on variable Internet use, the “Internet Use Questionnaire” was constructed, considering reliability criteria. The results revealed that most university students that use the Internet can identify social values and use them when they communicate with classmates, friends, and family, although with certain differences when looking at the variables analyzed. In conclusion, it is important to promote the ethical and responsible use of the Internet and social networks among young university students because it promotes the development of personal skills and social values.

The Internet is bound to profoundly impact public social trust. This study empirically investigated the impact of rural residents’ access to information on social trust based on the tracking survey data of Chinese households, which covered a sample size of 12,042 rural residents from 25 provinces and cities. We found that: (1) The modes of access to information had a significant positive impact on rural residents’ social trust. Specifically, as the time spent using the Internet or television for news increased, rural residents’ trust in others also increased, which is known as the “media propaganda and mobilization effect.” The use of the Internet had a higher impact coefficient than the use of TV. (2) A substitution effect was detected between the ways rural residents accessed news via the Internet and television. (3) Rural residents used the Internet less frequently than urban residents to obtain news but were more influenced by the Internet regarding social trust. (4) The information-disadvantaged groups among rural residents were mainly women, old people, and people with low education. The government should attach great importance to the influence of media on social trust and needs to actively improve the digital literacy of disadvantaged groups of rural residents and combat and eliminate the “digital divide” to enhance rural residents’ social trust.

The phenomenon of internet and social media addiction has attracted the attention of many people. We have conducted a research to examine whether or not the phenomenon of addiction to the internet and social media is a scientific reality. Then, we follow up this research. About 2014 respondents have been surveyed. Pearson’s Product Moment and Cronbach's Alpha tests were conducted to find out whether or not all the questions on this survey questionnaire were valid and reliable. The Chi Square hypothesis test was put forward Helmert’s theory around 1960; Helmert was a German Mathematical Physicist who mainly studied the field of Geodesy, even though Ernst Abbe and Irenne Jules Bienayme had already discovered this Chi Square distribution. The results of the internet addiction survey showed that 74.68% of respondents were not addicted and the rest were addicted mildly, moderately and severely. For the social media addiction survey, 79.94% of respondents were not addicted and the rest were addicted. Variables affecting addiction are age, occupation, and education. Internet and social media addiction is mostly experienced by Generation Y and Z, while Generation X has less addiction. The results of the measurement of Internet and social media addiction include scientific reality and attention should be paid to it and steps should be taken in the context of prevention and recovery for those who are addicted. Prevention and recovery for those who are addicted can be done by involving three major components: family, community, and state.

Many nodes in social networks and frequent interactions between nodes create great difficulties for privacy protection, and some of the existing studies also have problems such as cumbersome computational steps and low efficiency. In this paper, we take the complex environment of social networks as the research background and focus on the key issues of mobile wireless sensor network reliability from the mobile wireless sensor networks that apply to large-scale, simpler information, and delay tolerance. By introducing intelligent learning methods and swarm intelligence bionic optimization algorithms, we address reliability issues such as mobile wireless sensor network fault prediction methods and topology reliability assessment methods in industrial application environments, the impact of mobile path optimization of mobile wireless sensor networks on data collection efficiency and network reliability, reliable data transmission based on data fusion methods, and intelligent fault tolerance strategies for multipath routing to ensure mobile wireless sensor networks operate energy-efficiently and reliably in complex industrial application environments.

Communication these days has taken a huge turn to depend extremely on the internet. Software such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and the general social media receive about a billion active users. This demonstrates how most communication has relied on the internet. However, this approach does not serve well under some conditions. Firstly, places without internet access suffer greatly from multimedia messaging. They are either unable to initiate a conversation at all or suffer a relatively slower user experience even when they message people in close proximity. Furthermore, the cost incurred in messaging people over these platforms with people nearby could be avoided should the communication be over a local area network rather than depending on the services of an Internet Service Provider. This project investigates the design and implementation of an efficient communication system for devices near each other that relies on any local area network that a particular device is connected to. Such targeted networks include mobile Wi-Fi and cable connections. This work designed and implemented a Local Area Network based Messaging Platform, capable of working on all local networks regardless of being cable or wireless. The system is extensible, allowing for a node to re-broadcast the network onto other networks it might be connected to and works without internet access, allowing the sending and sharing of text and media files.

There have been several different efforts to estimate the carbon footprint of the internet, but there is no proven exact method for it. Therefore, the goals of this paper are, first—to critically review the carbon emission calculation methods and compare the results, and second—to publicize the environmental impact of our daily simple habit of internet usage. We calculated the carbon footprint of the most popular four online services (TikTok, Facebook, Netflix, and YouTube) by using top-cited methods such those from Obringer, the Shift Project, Andrae, and Hintemann and Hinterholze. When comparing the emitted carbon dioxide, the weighted average of online video streaming usage per day is 51 times more than 14 h of an airplane ride. Netflix generates the highest CO2 emissions among the four applications due to its high-resolution video delivery and its number of users.

Background Although the COVID-19 pandemic will have a negative effect on China’s economy in the short term, it also represents a major opportunity for internet-based medical treatment in the medium and long term. Compared with normal times, internet-based medical platforms including the Haodf website were visited by 1.11 billion people, the number of new registered users of all platforms increased by 10, and the number of new users’ daily consultations increased by 9 during the pandemic. The continuous participation of physicians is a major factor in the success of the platform, and economic return is an important reason for physicians to provide internet-based services. However, no study has provided the effectiveness of interactive tools in online health care communities to influence physicians’ returns. Objective The effect of internet-based effort on the benefits and effectiveness of interactive effort tools in internet-based health care areas remains unclear. Thus, the goals of this study are to examine the effect of doctors’ internet-based service quality on their economic returns during COVID-19 social restrictions, to examine the effect of mutual help groups on doctors’ economic returns during COVID-19 social restrictions, and to explore the moderating effect of disease privacy on doctors’ efforts and economic returns during COVID-19 social restrictions. Methods On the basis of the social exchange theory, this study establishes an internet-based effort exchange model for doctors. We used a crawler to download information automatically from Haodf website. From March 5 to 7, 2020, which occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic in China, cross-sectional information of 2530 doctors were collected. Results Hierarchical linear regression showed that disease privacy (β=.481; P<.001), reputation (β=.584; P<.001), and service quality (β=.560; P<.001) had a significant positive effect on the economic returns of the physicians. The influence of mutual help groups on earnings increases with an increase in the degree of disease privacy (β=.189; P<.001), indicating that mutual help groups have a stronger effect on earnings when patients ask questions about diseases regarding which they desire privacy. Conclusions For platform operators, the results of this study can help the platform understand how to improve doctors’ economic returns, especially regarding helping a specific doctor group improve its income to retain good doctors. For physicians on the platform, this study will help doctors spend their limited energy and time on tools that can improve internet-based consultation incomes. Patients who receive internet-based health care services extract information about a doctor based on the doctor’s internet-based efforts to understand the doctor’s level of professionalism and personality to choose the doctor they like the most. The data used in this study may be biased or not representative of all medical platforms, as they were collected from a single website.

This study describes a line cloud architecture and IDM-based energy metering system to replace existing meter reading methods. They can regularly monitor meter readings without sending someone to each residence, and the bill is automatically sent to each user via IDM. If the consumer fails to pay the bill, the service provider can cut off the supply; this technology will prevent the illicit use of electricity, often known as power detection, and locate line faults rapidly and precisely without the need for human intervention. Because of the increased deployment of energy meters, much data on electric energy is used. Developing cloud architecture technologies could utilize this data better to prevent power detection. In this paper, an intelligent detection method of electric energy meter overload functioning state based on cloud architecture (IDM EEMOF-CA) is provided in detail and utilized to identify electric energy detection. There are currently no studies involving the use of IDM EEM-CA to detect power exposure to the authors' knowledge.

Abstract: From the day internet came into existence, the era of social networking sprouted. In the beginning, no one may have thought the internet would be a host of numerous amazing services the social networking. Today we can say that online applications and social networking websites have become a non-separable part of one’s life. Many people from diverse age groups spend hours daily on such websites. Despite thoughtlet is emotionally connected through media, these facilities bring along big threats with them such as cyber-attacks, which includes include lying. As social networking sites are increasing, cyberbullying is increasing day by day. To identify word similarities in the tweets made by bullies and make use of machine learning and can develop an ML model that automatically detects social media bullying actions. However, many social media bullying detection techniques have been implemented, but many of them were textual based. Under this background and motivation, it can help to prevent the happen of cyberbullying if we can develop relevant techniques to discover cyberbullying in social media. A machine learning model is proposed to detect and prevent bullying on Twitter. Naïve Bayes is used for training and testing social media bullying content.

This paper aims to analyze the influence that certain social factors (education and area of residence) have on the most likely scenarios people encounter in their online activities. Among the possible scenarios of using the internet, based on everyday individuals’ activities, we selected seeking information about health, goods, and services, taking online courses, internet banking, and participating in social networks. Using data acquired from international databases over the 2002–2020 period, we proposed five hypotheses and applied a multilinear regression model to the data collected for four European countries, namely, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, and Slovenia. We have analyzed the degree of confirmation for all five hypotheses. The results provided a better understanding of the influence of the above-mentioned factors on the considered scenarios, allowing stakeholders to define and propose specific development policies.

As compared to the economic losses, social and psychological losses are of equal importance in discussing the losses when encountering fraud. Taking advantage of a perspective paper form (i.e., free writing style with a mix of description, analysis, and comments) with in-depth discussions and well-developed propositions, we combine considerations from the knowledge gap, platform quality, and risk management to discuss the comparative seriousness of different fraud-caused losses. The conceptual model mainly articulates on a series of relationships among different degrees of knowledge gap, platform quality, and risk management in predicting the various combinative losses in the economic, social, and psychological aspects. Propositions follow. First, when the knowledge gap is higher, the economic losses of being cheated on the internet will be higher, while lower in social and psychological losses. Second, when perceived platform quality is higher, the economic losses of being cheated on the internet will be lower, while higher in social and psychological losses. Third, when platform risk management is better, all aspects of being cheated on the internet will be lower. Based on the assumption of network externality, we also argue that the multiple dimensions of fraud-caused losses may damage e-auction sustainability. Theoretical and practical implications will be discussed.
