Smart Devices have been widely used by health care and cosmetics professionals. Indeed, they helpin many aspects of clinical practice by providing an efficient way for medical diagnosis, supportingbetter clinical decision-making and improving patient outcomes. In this thesis, we have beeninterested in three applications. The first one is related to the wettability measurement, especially forthe human skin. So we propose, a held-hand device that is based on the contact angle measurementto determine skin wettability. Besides, the device allows the visualization of the liquid dropletspreading in both dynamic and static modes. Moreover, it can measure the top and the left views ofthe droplet and provides the 3D droplet and the skin explored area profiles. The second applicationpermits the skin radiance measurement. For this purpose, we propose a miniaturized device havingan original method for the BRDF measurement associated with 3D profile measurement of the areastudied. As regards the third application, it is a non-invasive method for breath measurement that usesa stereovision system and a pseudo-periodic pattern. This system allows a high-resolution threedimensionaldisplacement measurement for the recording of the thoracoabdominal wall respiratorymovement. The devices developed during this research gives us a high accuracy, a good resolutionand repeatability of measurements

In recent years, blockchain technology has received more and more attention. It has shown special advantages in digital currency, because it is distributed and its data cannot be altered. With more countries put forward the idea of the power system innovation, a large number of distributed power sources have emerged. The grid connection of these distributed power sources will lead to unstable grid operation and greatly increase the difficulty of management. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a solution that can realize direct transaction of distributed power supply. This article makes an in-depth analysis of the blockchain technology, including hash algorithm, consensus mechanism, Merkle tree, smart contract, etc. And then the Ethereum and smart grids are studied. This article realizes automation and intelligence of the electricity transaction measurement through the smart contract technology provided by Ethereum. A blockchain private chain is created and then the smart contract is deployed into the private chain. With the advantages of blockchain technology aforementioned, the storage of power data and the power transactions will be more credible and more transparent. All in all, this paper designs and builds a smart grid system based on the smart contract technology of blockchain. The system can be used not only for smart grid systems but also for other energy trading systems. This article provides a reference for the application of blockchain technology.

The lack of correlation between selected contract characteristics related to requirements and investment ratings indicates that service contract requirements definition is a significant problem for federal agencies. That conclusion was confirmed by interviews with senior subject matter experts who consistently stated that accurately defining and managing information technology service contract requirements is a genuine challenge facing the federal government today.
Although empirical evidence failed to reject the null hypothesis, subsequent interviews revealed other factors that may have greater bearing on requirements and acquisition program outcomes than the five selected service contract characteristics. They present promising topics that merit further research.

Повний текст джерелаFastigheter betraktas ofta som illikvida på grund av kapital- och transaktionsbarriärer.

Повний текст джерелаBlockchains adresserar tillit genom kryptografi och konsensus.

Smart buildings is a common application for both Internet of Things (IoT) devices andcloud services. Recently cloud service providers such as Amazon, Google and Microsofthave started to offer IoT cloud platforms which consist of a class of services that providea base for cloud applications utilized by IoT devices. However, there are many differentproviders of IoT cloud platforms and selecting one for an IoT solution for a smart buildingis difficult. In this thesis two IoT cloud platforms are evaluated in the context of smartbuildings as part of an assignment given by Sigma Lundinova. To evaluate the IoT cloudplatforms a common smart building scenario is realized by implementing a prototype usingtwo different IoT cloud platforms. The development process makes it possible to evaluatehow well the platforms support the development of the system that the scenario describes. The evaluation is based on information and experience from the process of developing thesystem using the IoT cloud platforms. The evaluation can be used as a guidance whenselecting IoT cloud platform for an IoT solution intended for a smart building.

The study will investigate and create an understanding of the opportunities and challenges that blockchain technology entails in the audit process, thereby contributing with increased empirical knowledge to the research gap identified in the scientific literature. Qualitative documentstudy comparing scientific articles and documents. The opportunities that can be identified with blockchaintechnology are trippleaccounting, smart contracts, reduced time, reduced cost, reduced risk, coded creditworthiness models, reduced number of litigations, simplifies the auditprocess, blockchaintechnology is unmanipulable, increased reliability to the auditor, back-up, auditor’s new role. The challenges that can be identified are increased openness, less transparency, checking the authenticity of transfers, if the blockchain can be manipulated, dangerous to trust 100% on technology, backup, overestimated security, real-time taxation, scalability, costs increase in the beginning, financial education needs to be adapted , the auditor's new role, the auditor's new duties, new skills are required, ethics are needed, laws and regulations need to be adapted, laws need to be applied more quickly. It is clear that many of the opportunities also pose challenges; there is rarely an opportunity mentioned without challenges being addressed. What is also clearly seen is that the challenges with blockchain technology in the current situation are many more than the possibilities, which was an unexpected result.

This paper reports a thin-film supercapacitor as an energy storage component for smart contact lens applications. Using flexible and biocompatible Parylene-C as the substrate and packaging material, graphene as the nano porous electrode material and solid-state polymer electrolyte (PVA-H3PO4) as electrolyte of the supercapacitor. The proposed thin-film supercapacitor is 37 μm thick and packaged in soft contact lens. Furthermore, the fabrication is compatible with the smart contact lens system which we have developed so there is almost no increase in cost. Then based on experiments, the proposed thin-film supercapacitor is packaged in a contact lens and can work in saline solution. Obtained the specific capacitance of 22.97 F/cm3 to 12.80 F/cm3. Finally, we integrate the thin-film supercapacitor, antenna, chip and load into contact lens. Complete a soft and high water-containing smart contact lens system with energy storage component. The results of this paper show the potential for future vision correction or eye disease related applications and proposed a new solution of energy source for future smart contact lens systems. In addition, the RFID based smart contact lens can be changed from passive system to semi-passive system, which can reduce the intensity and duration of exposing eye tissues to electromagnetic wave when using. Solved the problems in safety or clinical experiments that may encounter in future.

Due to the invention and rapid development of multimedia devices such as smart mobile phone and tablet, people’s habits of using eyes have dramatically changed. Therefore, long-term monitoring of eye healthcare information attracts many research focuses in the past few years. Two major eye diseases, glaucoma and dry eye syndrome (DES), were used as illustrations for smart contact lens (SCL) developments in this research. This research proposed a wirelessly powered smart contact lens sensor system for long-term monitoring of eye healthcare conditions. The SCL sensor system consists of SCL readout system and a smart contact lens. SCL readout system uses commercial radio frequency identification (RFID) reader to transmit energy to smart contact lens and communicates with it through ultra-high frequency (UHF) EPCGlobal C1G2 protocol. The smart contact lens consists of capacitive or resistive sensors, receiving antenna and sensor chip. The on-lens biosensors are fabricated with Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) technology to implement sensor devices for impedance variations following eye conditions. The receiving antenna is used for energy transmission and data communication. The sensor chip is a RFID based sensor chip with embedded impedance-to-digital converter (IDC) for sensor data conversion. The eye healthcare information such as intraocular pressure (IOP) and tear evaporation rate was detected by capacitance change of on-lens capacitive or resistive sensors. The digital value after conversion by IDC will be transmitted back to external RFID reader through load modulation. The chip, receiving antenna and biosensor were integrated on a soft contact lens with commercially available biocompatible HEMA hydrogel by using a general cast molding method. With standard 200-μm thickness and commercial manufacturing process, discomfort of proposed SCL is reduced and compliance is increased. The proposed smart contact lens system enabled the detection of capacitive variation caused by pressure changes within the range of 2.25 to 30 mmHg and hydration level variation from a distance of 1 cm using 26.5 dBm incident power from commercial Gen2 RFID-compatible equipment. To sum up, the proposed SCL system can achieve wireless recording and long-term monitoring. The application of this system can be future extend by design and integration of different on-lens sensors for different biomarkers in the future.

Breathing is an essential function of the human health, as the human body gets old, the function of the respiratory system will gradually decline and affects the respiratory efficiency especially older adults. Taiwan has more than 14% of the elderly population in May 2018, which increases the demand for related rehabilitation and life care. In this study, we develop a cotton based smart clothing with a new method of measuring respiratory rate for the elderly population. The cotton-based smart clothing is a home monitoring system which can provide alternative services for medical services. Compared with the traditional contact measurement that the sensor needs to be closely attached to the human body. Results in poor user comfort which is not subject to non-contact measurement, and can only be measured under certain circumstances. In this study, an optical sensor was used to design a non-contact measurement method. The infrared light was used to illuminate the surface of the chest and abdomen of the human body. The reflectance changes according to the breathing action of the human body. This method can have proper detection of respiratory action characteristics. By processing the hardware-based algorithm the respiratory rate can be calculated.

With the advent of Bitcoin in 2008, blockchain technology has been paid much attention to society every year and has inspired the development of many other blockchain technology. The idea smart contract, which was proposed in 1994, was successfully merged into Ethereum. It brings the development of blockchain technology into the next era. Smart contract is one of the most important features in blockchain technology nowadays, which allows users to trade money, property of anything valuable without a middleman. Compared to traditional contracts, it can save a lot of manpower, time, and resources, but can bring more stable and more secure results. After the advent of Ethereum, the development of blockchain-based smart contract flourished. There are many unique and valuable blockchain come out. However, every blockhain is parallel. It make the demand of cross-chain rising. This thesis proposes a cross-chain smart contract architecture that could connect most cryptocurrency and try to reach balance between difficulty, low-cost and trusty.

A smart contract deployed on the blockchain is meant to be immutable; however, in practice, the consensus and operations among parties may change as time goes by, e.g., to fix security frauds, leading to the need of flexibility on contract modification. We propose a state-based smart contract framework that facilitates contract modification, where a deployed smart contract can be altered partially with update operations or control logic while keeping previous transactions (blocks) consistent. Specifically, we divide an ordinary contract into four functional contracts that are linked by the framework to work together. The control contract manages the control logic with a finite state machine where transactions are guarded with version control to distinguish different versions of the contract; the storage contract that accesses global variables synchronizes the view of state variables; the main contract implements the main part of application logic, and the update contract implements codes that are designed in a state-based fashion to allow to be swapped with update operations. We have implemented a proof-of-concept insurance smart contract to demonstrate how to develop, deploy, execute and alter a modifiable smart contract under the proposed framework.

This study aims to explore the characteristics of smart contracts in the blockchain: users can't deny that all changes can be tracked and recorded, it is difficult to tamper with credibility, confidentiality, to achieve the convenience of planning for the Pre Need funeral contract. Because of the rapid transformation of modern society, people have become gradually enlightened for the concept of endowment and end of life, and it is a task that everyone has to face the arrangement funeral. However, in the face of the end of life, people are still powerless for their own arrangements funeral, and in today’s society, the majority of people are degraded. People are still unable to arrange their own affairs behind the scenes, so the Pre Need funeral contract has become a way for people to confess things behind. However, the domestic contractual contractors only introduced stereotyped Pre-Need contracts, and most of the pre-Need contracts cannot meet individual needs. In the end, they returned to the origin to allow the burial industry to ask for permission so that future generations would be overwhelmed. The blockchain is a technology has started to develop for several years. It has become more mature in the development of smart contracts. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to explore the possibility of applying the content of a lifetime contract through the application of smart contracts in order to reach the individual’s wishes. The autonomy and convenience of the contract. Blockchain technology is open and transparent, and it cannot be faked. A program executed on a blockchain platform through smart contracts can ensure that the program will not be tampered with, and that all execution records can be completely preserved so that the lifetime contract can be achieved through this technology to facilitate the process of transparency and popularity. Help consumers to plan Pre-need faster, easier, safer, more professional and more transparent.

The government, by employing the smart contracts, can change the way they deliver services and business processes to reduce the administrative cost. The government, in order to protect the interests of farmers, implements plural subsidy policies. The subsidy amount exceeds over half of the annual agricultural budget and the subsidy given to organic agriculture hikes year by year. Without being certified by organic agriculture certification companies, it is not allowed to make any organic claim. When farmers consider converting to organic, the costs may hinder their willingness, so the government grants subsidies to farmers in need of organic certification. The study employed the ethereum smart contract based on the blockchain technology to develop a prototype of the organic farming subsidy payment system. Compare the system with the current subsidy process, it shows that the system has the following advantages: 1. All applications must be submitted through the online application system, and farmers can apply for subsidies online at any time. 2. Integrate farmers' information flow into government's. E-procedures can reduce the working hours of review. 3. Using smart contracts to store data on the blockchain. With subsidies granted by cryptocurrency to ensure timely releases of funds.

Since the advent of Bitcoin in 2008, the decentralized ledger system, based on blockchain technology, has flourished. Initially, in the world of Bitcoin, users are free to transfer their assets (Bitcoin) without a centralized organization. Bitcoin built the most reliable financial system in the virtual world. In the network, that the users are not trust in each other, asset transfer can still be performed based on such the system. In 2013, Vitalik Buterin proposed a new generation of decentralized ledger system, Ethereum. Ethereum added a complete programming language based on the core concept of blockchain to enable people to develop applications on it. Users can develop their own application and let it run in a decentralized environment, such a program is also known as a smart contract. Today''s Ethereum as a smart contract implementation platform is very mature, a variety of Decentralized applications are operating very well in Ethereum, but still face the bottleneck of all current decentralized ledger system, that is scalability. The scalability of the decentralized ledger system is mainly to describe the ability of the system to process transaction requests. It can be regarded as the performance or throughput of the system intuitively. The scalability is also one of the most important topics of blockchain technology today. The main goal of this thesis is to enhance the efficiency of Ethereum''s smart contracts through parallelization without changing current Ethereum architecture (The block and transaction format remain the same). By this way, we can enhance the scalability of the Ethereum system.

Information-Centric Networking (ICN) is a new networking concept devised to cope with the challenges faced by the current design of Internet communications, such as the rising number of users and the mobility of the devices. Although this concept already has some features that are relevant for current Internet usage, such as in-network caching capabilities and content replication, there are still some relevant improvements to be developed. One of the key aspects of ICN is the ability to deal with node mobility, since there are no persistent connections, making it stand out from the current Internet design. However, although ICN supports mobility, there are still no optimizations to better serve users on the move. By tracking the contents’ popularity at the users’ sources, it is possible to pre-cache related contents to the ones accessed by the users at their destination. This pre-caching allows to better serve those users when they arrive, providing reduced delays while obtaining the pre-cached contents. Content-Centric Networking (CCN) is one of the existent ICN architectures and here we propose an improvement to CCN mobility capabilities: smart relocation of contents, based on users’ movement. In this work, we design, implement and validate smart content relocation mechanisms able to integrate with the core system of CCNx to anonymously monitor data requests and relocate relevant data according to the users’ upcoming destination prior to their arrival. This will allow an improvement on the users’ service experience, namely regarding delay, when using CCN with content relocation.

Smart contract deployed on Blockchain has the advantage of decentralization. However, with the increasing popularity and surging market cap of Blockchain tech- nology such as Ethereum, it has become much more expensive and difficult to deploy and execute a smart contract on Blockchain. We propose a semi-centralized smart contract architecture to move the smart contract execution and verification away from the Ethereum blockchain. We hope applications can improve efficiency and save execution cost of their smart contract by balancing the trade-off between centralization and decentralization while retain computation verifiability and tamper-proof data. We didn’t propose a new consensus algorithm or sharding scheme to increase transaction-per-second or compuation-per-second on Blockchain. What we proposed is a different approach to execute smart contract. User gets to decide between different property he desires such as centralization, decentralization, efficiency and computation-per-second and choose the best way to execute his smart contract.

The main goal of this internship was to develop a mobile application for Android and iOS that used concepts and technologies that still have not had its full potential explored in the context of touristic activities. These technologies included the use of Beacons and the concept of context-awareness. Throughout the internship period, the development of the mobile application focused on mapping points of interest from Porto, but one of the main concerns was to develop a system with a modular architecture, that would allow the app to be expanded and adapted to other cities and technologies. Through location services and the usage of Beacons, this mobile application intended to satisfy its user’s needs by widening the scope of touristic activities. This included giving the user information about Points of Interest or data from sensors at the time this information could become the most relevant, by knowing where they are, the available time they had to visit a certain location and what environment surrounded them. To develop this mobile application, not only it was necessary to perform a market study to understand what these types of apps are already offering to tourists, but also a study of concepts like beacons and context-awareness, to understand what advantages these types of mobile applications can take from using these technologies. After this analysis, it was defined a set of requirements that were developed throughout the internship. For this, it was designed an architecture with the necessary quality attributes that could fit these requirements. Another main concern of this internship was to guarantee that the final prototype of the mobile application was intuitive, prioritizing the development of a simple but attractive interface design.

Digital rights management (DRM) is widely used to control users’ access to digital content by limiting their rights to use, view, copy, and modify their purchased content. By preventing users from disseminating content without authorization, DRM protects the rights of digital content creators. DRM is mostly centrally managed. Sellers can unilaterally revoke the rights to access sold digital content, which hurts buyers’ interests. In this paper, smart contract technology and blockchain technology are leveraged to achieve decentralized digital content management. Digital content is sold only if buyers and sellers agree to decentrally managed smart contracts, meaning that established transactions could not be unilaterally withdrawn by the seller or buyer. Since digital content is managed in a distributed manner with our method, the smart contracts guarantee that the authors are paid for their effort when their work is used. Hence, our approach not only protects the rights of buyers and sellers but also helps to restrict piracy and enhances the feasibility of digital content being legally distributed under the DRM architecture. By replacing complicated piracy-curbing methods, our approach can encourage creation, raise revenue for the digital content industry, and create a win-win situation for creators and customers.

Ethereum implements the first blockchain-based smart contract platform and successfully brings lots of decentralized applications. For Bitcoin and its derivatives, however, there are currently no mature implementations with smart contracts. Moreover, the Ethereum blockchain adopts the account model instead of the UTXO model as in Bitcoin to achieve account tracking, which is necessary for smart contracts but compromises some user privacy. In this thesis, we present OurContract, an alternative solution to smart contract platform built on the Bitcoin blockchain. We construct an additional account layer on top of the UTXO model to achieve account tracking while preserving the privacy property of the UTXO model. To make OurContract more practical, we design mechanisms to enable coin transfer among contract accounts and users, and we allow transaction fee to be determined according to the cost for miners to execute contracts. For users to develop OurContract applications, we provide a limited version of C, called C-, as the programming language, and an associated library, called libourcontract, for C- programmers to interact with the blockchain. Our work can be applied to not only Bitcoin, but any blockchains based on the UTXO model.

We develop a blockchain-based mobile ticketing system which utilizes smart contracts and multi-signature to enforce and authorize the executions of transactions. The transactions of buying and using mobile tickets are verified by the blockchain, and the immutable ledger and multi-signature on the blockchain ensures the authenticity and security of the tickets. The experimental results show that the proposed system is very efficient and requires only a nominal cost.

Blockchain has become the most topical term due to the emergence of Bitcoin, and Bitcoin has made blockchain a technology that many experts and scholars are actively studying. The area in which blockchain can be used is not just a specific industry. Blockchains can be used in smart contracts, securities trading, e-commerce, the Internet of Things, social communications, file storage, identity verification, and the financial world. There are many revolutionized reforms in many industries driven by the Blockchain technology. In addition, the concept of decentralization also makes the information not easy to be tampered with and arbitrarily disclosed, so that the data is guaranteed. Decentralization is also a major axis of smart contracts, and the Ethereum in Ethereum must be used. Smart contracts can also be used in supply chain management, saving the company a lot of time and cost. This study uses Solidity to conduct smart contract deployment of supply management through the Rinkeby test network in the Remix environment. First, take a simple single-sales smart contract as an example to carry out the decentralized shopping smart contract deployment to the implementation process. Secondly, it is deployed and tested for the more complicated trading contract with two transit transport industries. In addition, through the Rinkeby test network, an interface platform that can interface with other platforms. The results show that smart contracts can indeed enforce contractual transactions that protect buyers and sellers under decentralized conditions.
