Повний текст джерелаScientific and technological development in the XXI century changed a lot of industries. Innovations have not spared the aviation sphere as well, brought air transportation to one of the most demanded, fast, and widespread kinds of transport. Air carriers reacted immediately that demand had increased and began to gain the volume of transportation. However, the better part of significant airports was built in the previous century, and their infrastructure has not been designed for volumes of nowadays traffic. The rapid growth of air transportations led to a shortage of available aircraft parking places, runways, and ground handling resources. Air traffic continued to outstrip available infrastructure, therefore the number of delays grew very fast. Diversions of aircraft to alternate aerodromes have also become more frequent due to the impossibility of staying in the holding areas near the destination airports. The very high amount of ground and air delays coupled with diversions were leading to great losses for both air carriers and airports. Such situation would lead to the opposite effect, decreasing air transportation and slowdown in the development of the whole aviation industry. To avoid traffic congestions due to exceeding of airport capacity were invented airport SLOTs. They have specified allotted time for an aircraft to land or take off at an airport as well as a time limit for aircraft ground handling. Through SLOTs, airport authorities managed traffic volume, dividing it into portions. Uniform continuous traffic has allowed to serve air transportations without extension of airport infrastructure and to avoid constant delays. Usage of airport SLOTs also helped to deal with irregular distribution of frequencies of passenger flights in the big hub airports. Airlines that use the hub and spoke transportation concept have priority SLOTs in their own hub airports for useful transfer flights. At the same time, airlines, which use the point-to-point model, and have a desire to fly to the hub airports, have to revise their schedule to operate flights between rush hours of basic airport carriers. Equal distributions of frequencies give advantages for both airports and passengers. There is no downtime at airports, and passengers can choose more suitable time for a flight. Nowadays, if carriers want to operate any type of flight in a conventional airport, besides permission to land, they would need to obtain airport SLOTs. Airport SLOTs obtaining procedure is not hard but may be very long. There are a lot of factors that can influence it, for example, type of aircraft, kind of operations, operator certificates, etc. All mentioned factors in busy airports make SLOT obtaining procedure unbearably difficult, and it leads to decrease in the attractiveness of the airport for operations.

Авіаперевізники негайно відреагували, що попит зріс і почали нарощувати обсяги перевезень. Однак більша частина значних аеропортів була побудована в попередньому столітті, і їх інфраструктура не була розроблена для обсягів сучасних перевезень. Швидке зростання авіаперевезень призвело до нестачі вільних місць для стоянок літаків, злітно-посадкових смуг та ресурсів наземного обслуговування. Повітряний рух продовжував випереджати наявну інфраструктуру, тому кількість затримок зростала дуже швидко. Перенаправлення літаків на альтернативні аеродроми також почастішало через неможливість перебування в зонах тримання поблизу аеропортів призначення. Дуже висока кількість наземних та повітряних затримок у поєднанні з диверсіями призвела до великих втрат як для авіаперевізників, так і для аеропортів. Така ситуація призвела б до зворотного ефекту, зменшивши авіаперевезення та уповільнення розвитку всієї авіаційної галузі. Щоб уникнути заторів на дорогах через перевищення пропускної здатності аеропорту були винайдені SLOT для аеропорту. Вони вказали відведений час для посадки або зльоту літака в аеропорту, а також обмеження часу на наземне обслуговування. За допомогою SLOT органи аеропорту керували обсягом перевезень, розподіляючи його на частини. Рівномірний безперервний рух дозволив обслуговувати повітряні перевезення без розширення інфраструктури аеропорту та уникати постійних затримок. Використання аеропортних терміналів також допомогло впоратися з нерегулярним розподілом частоти пасажирських рейсів у великих аеропортах. Авіакомпанії, які використовують концепцію перевезення хабів та спиць, мають пріоритетні SLOT у власних аеропортах-хабах для корисних трансферних рейсів. У той же час авіакомпаніям, які використовують модель "точка-точка" і мають бажання літати до аеропортів-хабів, доводиться переглядати свій графік, щоб виконувати рейси між годинами пік основних перевізників аеропортів. Рівний розподіл частот дає переваги як аеропортам, так і пасажирам. В аеропортах немає простоїв, і пасажири можуть вибрати більш підходящий час для польоту. В даний час, якщо перевізники хочуть виконувати будь-який тип польоту в звичайному аеропорту, крім дозволу на посадку, їм потрібно буде отримати SLOT для аеропорту. Процедура отримання слотів в аеропорту не складна, але може бути дуже тривалою. Є багато факторів, які можуть вплинути на це, наприклад, тип літального апарату, вид експлуатації, сертифікати експлуатанта тощо. During the equivalent circuit modeling of an H-shaped slot fed by a microstrip line, an approach based on the reciprocity theorem is utilized. The method was originally proposed for rectangular shaped slots, in this thesis it is generalized for arbitrarily shaped slots. Software codes are developed in MATLAB to calculate the equivalent impedance of the slot.

The Spoken Language Learning System (SLLS) is intended to be an engaging, educational, and extensible spoken language learning system showcasing the multilingual capabilities of the Spoken Language Systems Group's (SLS) systems. The motivation behind SLLS is to satisfy both the demand for spoken language learning in an increasingly multi-cultural society and the desire for continued development of the multilingual systems at SLS. SLLS is an integration of an Internet presence with augmentations to SLS's Mandarin systems built within the Galaxy architecture, focusing on the situation of an English speaker learning Mandarin. We offer language learners the ability to listen to spoken phrases and simulated conversations online, engage in interactive dynamic conversations over the telephone, and review audio and visual feedback of their conversations. We also provide a wide array of administration and maintenance features online for teachers and administrators to facilitate continued system development and user interaction, such as lesson plan creation, vocabulary management, and a requests forum. User studies have shown that there is an appreciation for the potential of the system and that the core operation is intuitive and entertaining. The studies have also helped to illuminate the vast array of future work necessary to further polish the language learning experience and reduce the administrative burden. The focus of this thesis is the creation of the first iteration of SLLS; we believe we have taken the first step down the long but hopeful path towards helping people speak a foreign language.

Повний текст джерелаCurrently in Sweden the predominant regulation used for blasting induced vibrations for underground constructions is AB Storstockholms Lokaltrafiks (SL). The regulations are based on the Swedish standard 460 48 66 which is developed for blasting induced vibrations on aboveground constructions. The regulations were adapted to underground constructions through the research project in Hjulsta, where tests with blasting took place adjacent to a subway depot during the late 1990:s. Decisions based on flawed assumptions could lead to a non-optimized result. The aim of the project is to analyse the blasting induced vibrations registered during the train tunnel project Citybanan and attempt to give recommendations for updating of the existing SL regulations. A literature study has been conducted of current regulations in Sweden and compare them to regulations in Norway, Finland, Germany and Switzerland. This in order to investigate the differences between the regulations and identify potential improvement which can be applied to the Swedish regulations. Wave theory in elastic materials and in rock is presented to give the background to vibration measuring. The method used to monitor the vibration levels in the subway during the construction of Citybanan is investigated including a description of methods for reducing the impact of blasting adjacent to existing tunnels. A study of the blasting operations at Citybanan and its effects on SL tunnels at T-centralen and Odenplan has been conducted. Through investigation of the inspection protocols from the blasting operations and analysis of the corresponding vibration levels and damages identified including the cause has been studied. Included in the investigation is the peak particle velocity, the dominating frequency, the highest energy with corresponding frequency and the violation of established limitations and the correlating damages. In conclusion to the study a new factor regarding the frequency has been recommended to be introduced into SL regulations for calculating an increased limit for blasting induced vibrations. An example is presented to show how such a factor could be implemented, although further study is needed to ensure that the established frequency intervals are correct.

Повний текст джерелаThe growing concern about the life quality in urban centers coupled with increasing population density in near airports areas has drawn the attention of civil aviation authorities for aircraft noise pollution. In this context, external noise limits for approval of aircraft have become very restrictive in recent years, with the clear objective to confine aircraft noise inside airports. With the technological evolution of aircraft engines, reducing noise generated by aerodynamic landing gear and highlift devices have become a core competency to keep the aircraft competitive regarding noise requirements. This work studies the generation mechanism of aerodynamic noise by slats through numerical simulations in the following wind tunnel conditions: Mach number 0.1, Reynolds number \'Approximately\' 10\'POT.6\' and angles of attack 4°, 6° and 8°. The noise estimates were compared with experimental measurements based on beamforming technique, and it was observed the maximum difference of 2:5 dB in the overall noise level. The noise variation with angle of attack was over-estimated at 0.8 dB by the simulations. The reattachment of the shear layer was identified by the contours of pressure fluctuation on the surface of the slat as the key noise generation mechanism. To explain the noise reduction when the angle of attack is increased it has been proposed that fluctuations in the shear layer would be enhanced through feedback of energy captured by the vortex recirculation zone in the slat cove. The existence of this mechanism was tested by comparing the vorticity profiles at both the cusp and trailing edge, as well as velocity fluctuation spectra along the trajectory of the shear layer for angles of attack 4° and 8 degree. Although the initial profile of the shear layer is the same in both conditions, the wake at the trailing edge indicates that a higher percentage of the vortices is trapped in the recirculation for the condition 4°. Consequently, fluctuations in the shear layer near the reattachment are greater in this condition, which is consistent with the higher noise levels.

Повний текст джерелаZymoseptoria tritici is one of the ten more important fungal plant pathogens. Its economic impact on wheat production and its biological characteristics (yeast-fungal dimorphism, hemi-biotrophy, sexual and highly diverse populations) make Z. tritici unique among fungal plant pathogens. It has therefore drawn attention of the scientific community during the last ten years, leading to the development of genomic and genetic tools. These efforts have improved our understanding of its pathogenicity and evolution. We have focused our study on the three Z. tritici Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase (MAPK) signalling pathways (ZtFUS3, ZtHOG1, and ZtSLT2) which are required for pathogenicity. We provided novel insights in the role of ZtSlt2 MAPK signalling pathway using a detailed phenotypic characterization of SLT2 deletion mutant during wheat infection and in vitro development. We showed that SLT2 is non-pathogenic on wheat leaves, even when stomatal penetration is bypassed by spore injection, suggesting a defect in leaf colonisation. During in vitro growth, SLT2 is required for melanisation, aerial hyphae emergence, biofilm formation and colony hydrophobicity which are markers of a developmental switch occurring during Z. tritici colony aging (development of melanised and hydrophobic colonies supporting abundant white aerial hyphae). This developmental switch occurs at different times depending on media and temperatures, quickest being on poor plant-derived Potato Dextrose (PD) medium at 25°C (4 days) and slowest on rich complex Yeast Extract Peptone Dextrose (YPD) medium 18°C (18 days). We provided evidence that genes encoding enzymes involved in both melanin and α-1,3-glucan biosynthesis, and hydrophobins are up-regulated during this developmental switch in wild type, in particular at 3 days on PD at 25°C compared to other conditions. This up-regulation clearly requires a functional ZtSLT2 pathway. Transcriptomic analysis (RNAseq) of these differential conditions is ongoing to identify the network of genes requiring SLT2 for their expression. These SLT2 target genes are putative pathogenicity factors. We also provide a new molecular tool for Z. tritici. We showed that pMoNIA1 and pZtNIA1 promoters from nitrate reductases encoding genes of Magnaporthe oryzae, and Z. tritici, respectively, are nitrogen-responsive in Z. tritici to a similar extent. They are fully expressed in presence of nitrate as sole nitrogen source and down-regulated in presence of glutamate, showing they are suitable for conditional gene expression and promoter replacement in Z. tritici. These promoters will be useful to control the expression of constitutively active alleles of MAP Kinase kinases in order to activate MAPK pathways in a conditional manner

Повний текст джерелаThis thesis aims to highlight how LCC analyses currently are used in the planning of maintenance work in the rock tunnels of the Stockholm Metro. SL is a company owned by Stockholm County Council and is responsible for land-based public transport in Stockholm County, which includes the metro. The Stockholm Metro opened in 1950 and has since been expanded in stages. More than half of the route goes through tunnels. Maintenance of the tunnels is necessary to ensure a good function. Sometimes bigger maintenance actions are required, which at times also affects the surrounding world. How the maintenance is planned and organized is of great economic importance and is also directly connected with the facility's standard. LCC analyses results in a measure of an investment's total economic impact over its lifetime, including investment, operation, and maintenance costs. As this measure is obtained for a number of options, a comparison of these can be made and form a basis for decisions in which the total economically most profitable solution can be selected, instead of basing the decision solely on the initial investment cost. Two case studies have been done to elucidate how LCC is used by SL at different types of maintenance work today. In the first case, an LCC analysis has been used to create a basis for decision making, and in the other case LCC has not been considered at all. The starting point for this thesis has been that there may be much to gain by using LCC analyses not only for new constructions but also in the planning of maintenance work. Today LCC analysis is not consistently used in the planning of maintenance and repair work of SL's rock tunnels. There are no demands on this externally and SL has no own guidelines regarding LCC. This could be one of the reasons that LCC analyses are not practiced in a greater extent. Others may be lack of knowledge of methodology, lack of time and shared financial responsibility between departments. In order to consistently introduce LCC analyses for rock maintenance work it would have to be required externally or internally by an LCC policy or through regulatory documents. The new procedures would have to be implemented in a way so that everyone involved understands the benefits, thus information / education of the methodology would be necessary. It is important to define which projects should be covered by, and in which stages of the projects LCC should be used. As a suggestion LCC analysis could be used to define needs and requirements of LCC-analyses can be set in tender documents.

I dessa nätverkssamhällen är ökat resande och ökad digitalisering centralt med individer och organisationer som sammanstrålar i ett ständigt och omedelbart trådlöst och mobiltekniskt flöde. Ett exempel på detta är Stockholm och Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (SL). Även om dem flesta deltar i det mesta i detta nätverkssamhälle, brottas SL med en målgrupp som reser sällan med dem: barnfamiljer. Vi ämnade att ta reda på hur kommunikationen på SL:s digitala plattformar kunde få barnfamiljer att resa mer kollektivt. Metoden för detta var en enkätundersökning via e-post där drygt barnfamiljer fick svara på hur dem upplever SL på hemsida, i mobiltelefon och på sociala medier. Undersökningen belystes med teorier och koncept om nätverkssamhället, e-förvaltning, konvergens och interaktion. Resultaten visar att barnfamiljer är nöjda med huvudsakligt innehåll, i synnerhet realtids- och mobila funktioner på SL:s digitala plattformar, men det förekommer en bristande interaktion på sociala medier. Men närdet gäller undersökningens syfte om hur SL:s kommunikation på digitala plattformar kan få barnfamiljer att resa mer kollektivt, är svaret att det är svårt. Slutsatsen är att SL ska fortsätta med och förbättra befintliga och utveckla nya populära funktioner samt synliggöra och ”anstränga” sig mer på hemsida och mobil plattform beträffande sociala medier, för att behålla nu kollektivt resande barnfamiljer och vinna fler på sikt.

Повний текст джерелаA tomada de decisão colaborativa (CDM) é um paradigma importante no processo de gerenciamento de tráfego aéreo (ATM). De acordo com a sua filosofia, a troca de informações entre os diversos intervenientes resultam em melhores decisões para o ATM. A construção dos algoritmos de alocação de slots utilizados nos programas de espera em solo (GDP) com CDM não contempla os principais stakeholders atuais no processo de tomada de decisão. Somando-se a esse fato, algumas deficiências no GDP têm sido relatadas em diversas pesquisas ao longo dos anos. Um desses problemas é que o algoritmo Compression nem sempre calcula resultados estáveis na alocação de recursos aeroportuários. Esta situação limita o desempenho do ATM e pode gerar insatisfação entre os stakeholders que são afetados. Para resolver os problemas citados, o presente trabalho propõe uma nova solução para o problema de alocação de slots tratado pelo algoritmo Compression. Esse modelo, denominado DA-SLOT, possibilita o tratamento dos stakeholders já existentes na CDM, bem como, a inclusão de um novo participante, o gestor do aeroporto. O modelo proposto utiliza a teoria de matching para criar um mercado de slots, onde as companhias aéreas e o gestor do aeroporto são jogadores que possuem preferências estratégicas no processo de alocação. O novo algoritmo utilizado nesse processo é baseado no mecanismo Deferred Acceptance (DA) para mercados de matching de dois lados. Os estudos de caso utilizados na validação do modelo empregaram movimentos aéreos do Aeroporto Internacional Tancredo Neves (SBCF) do ano de 2014, extraídos do site on-line da Empresa Brasileira de Infraestrutura Aeroportuária (INFRAERO). A análise realizada sobre cenários hipotéticos e reais indica que o modelo DA-SLOT permite adequado tratamento das preferências de todos os jogadores do mercado através de uma alocação ótima. Além disso, características desejáveis inerentes ao mecanismo DA, como estabilidade nas alocações e controle de manipulação dos resultados, podem levar os jogadores a buscarem resultados ótimos globais no sistema. Estes resultados podem ser considerados como as principais contribuições científicas e sociais da pesquisa.
Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) is an important paradigm in the process of Air Traffic Management (ATM). According to this paradigm, the exchange of information among the different entities result in the improved decisions for ATM. However, the construction of the slot allocation algorithms used in the Ground Delay Program (GDP) with CDM, does not address the current major stakeholders in the decision-making process. At the same time, some shortcomings in GDP have been reported in several studies over the last years. One of these problems is that the Compression algorithm in CDM not always calculates the stable results in the allocation of resources related to airport. These limits of the ATM performance can generate the dissatisfaction among the stakeholders. To solve these problems, this PhD thesis proposes a new solution for the slot allocation problem addressed in the Compression algorithm. This model, called DA-SLOT enables the treatment of existing stakeholders in the CDM, as well as the inclusion of a new participant, the airport management services. The proposed model uses the matching theory to create a market slots where the airlines and the airport managers are the players. These stakeholders in CDM have their strategic preferences in the allocation process. The new algorithm has been developed based on the Deferred Acceptance (DA) mechanism for two-sided matching markets. The case studies are conducted for evaluation the developed model with the real data from Tancredo Neves International Airport (SBCF) of 2014. All the scenarios and data have taken from the official website of the Brazilian Airport Infrastructure Company (INFRAERO). The analysis on hypothetical and actual scenarios indicates that DA-SLOT model allows the correct treatment of the preferences of all players in the market through a stable allocation. In addition, desirable characteristics inherited from the DA mechanism, such as stability in the allocation and control manipulation of the results, may lead stakeholders to get overall performances in the system. These results can be considered as the main scientificand social contributions of this research.

Повний текст джерелаInduction machines convert more than 55% of electrical energy into various other forms in industrial and domestic environments. Improved performance, especially by reduction of losses in induction machines hence can significantly reduce consumption of electricity. Many design and control methods are adopted to make induction machines work more efficiently, however certain design compromises are inevitable, such as skewing the rotor to improve the magnetic noise and torque characteristics increase the cross current losses considerably in a cage rotor, degrading the efficiency of the motor. Crosscurrent losses are the dominating stray losses which are dependent on several factors among them are percentage skew and the contact resistance between the rotor bars and laminations. It is shown in this thesis that implementing a design change which has non-skewed asymmetrical distribution of rotor slots can serve the same purpose as skewing i.e., reduction of the magnetic noise, thereby avoiding the negative effects of skewing the rotor slots especially by reducing the cross-current losses.
Two design ethodologies to introduce asymmetry in rotor slots are proposed and the key performance characteristics like torque ripple, radial air gap forces are computed both numerically and analytically. Radial forces obtained from the finite element method are coupled to the analytical tool forcalculating the magnetic noise. A spectral method to calculate and separate the radial forces into vibration modes and their respective frequencies is proposed and validated for a standard 4-pole induction motor. The influence of rotor slot number, eccentricity and skew on radial forces and magnetic noise are studied using finite element method in order to understand the vibrational and acoustic behavior of the machine, especially for identifying their sources. The validated methods on standard motors are applied for investigating the asymmetrical rotor slot machines.
Radial air gap forces and magnetic noise spectra are computed for the novel dual and sinusoidal symmetrical rotors and compared with the standard symmetrical rotor. The results obtained showed reduced radial forces and magnetic noise in asymmetrical rotors, both for the eccentric and noneccentric cases. Based on the results obtained some guide lines for designing asymmetrical rotor slots are established. Magnitudes of the harmful modes of vibration observed in the eccentric rotors, which usually occur in reality, are considerably reduced in asymmetrical rotors showing lower sound intensity levels produced by asymmetrical rotors. The noise level from mode-2 vibration in a 4-pole standard 15 kW motor running with 25% static eccentricity is decreased by about 6 dB, compared to the standard rotors. Hence improved performance can be achieved by removing skew which reduces cross current losses and by employing asymmetrical rotor slots same noise level can be maintained or can be even lowered.

The goal of the Range Standardization and Automation (RSA) Program is to meet the requirements of range users and range safety in a more cost effective manner than is currently possible. One approach that will be considered in best achieving these goals is the further application of GPS technology to both the Eastern and Western Spacelift Ranges. Such an application can have a profound impact on the instrumentation segment of each range. Included within the instrumentation segment and clearly impacted, are both the metric tracking and telemetry subsystems. This paper considers the SLRS requirements that can be supported with GPS technology; the advantages and shortcomings of both GPS technology and alternative techniques; and provides suggestions as to an appropriate application of GPS technology to the SLRS.
