Abstract: Syntax analysis forms the second phase of a compiler. Syntax Analyzer basically takes the input of tokens from the lexical analyzer and parses the source code according to the production rules to detect errors in the code. The syntax analyzer gives an output in the form of a parse tree. The syntax analysis techniques can be classified as top-down parsing and bottom-up parsing. These categories can be further subdivided into recursive descent, LL (1), operator precedence, LR (0), SLR (1), CLR (1) and LALR (1) respectively. Various parser generators can generate parsers of these types which have been studied and analyzed in this paper such as Beaver, Tatoo, APG etc. This paper provides an overview of all these tools with respective to their working, advantages and features. These syntax analyzer tools can be used for different purposes according to the user.

AbstractWe have discovered maser emission from SiO and H2O molecules toward a number of evolved stars within the central parsec of our Galaxy. The maser positions can be registered with milliarcsecond precision relative to the radio continuum emission of the nonthermal Galactic center source Sgr A*. Since the masing stars are prominent infrared sources, our data can be used to locate the position of Sgr A* on infrared images of the Galactic center region. Using VLBA observations it will be possible to measure proper motions of the maser stars, which can be used to put constraints on the mass distribution in the central parsec.

AbstractRecent observations have revealed various structures within the gravitational influence of Sgr A* – the massive black hole in the Galactic center. These structures apparently defy the fundamental principles of star formation and stellar dynamics. On one hand, the red giants display a flat density profile, contrary to the cuspy one predicted by conventional stellar relaxation. On the other, Wolf-Rayet and OB stars are observed where in-situ star formation should have been prohibited by the strong tidal force from Sgr A*, and their spatial and phase-space distributions also contradict our understanding of stellar dynamics. To explain each of these inconsistencies, many scenarios have been proposed, which render the model increasingly complicated. Here, we suggest that the sub-parsec stellar disk surrounding Sgr A*, which was recently discovered, can reconcile all the above inconsistencies. We show that during the fragmenting past of this disk, the star-forming clumps could efficiently deplete red giants by repeatedly colliding with them. We also show that because of the torque exerted by the disk, stars within the central arcsec from Sgr A* would quickly mix in the angular-momentum space, which naturally explains the observed distributions of Wolf-Rayet and OB stars. Our results imply that Sgr A* was fueled by gas and stars several millions years ago and could have been an energetic AGN. We discuss future observations that can further testify our model.

AbstractWe present a mid-infrared 3D view of the central parsec using ISAAC spectrograph (ESO/VLT) with its spectroscopic mode. We mapped the central parsec in L- and M-bands by using 27 and 21 slit positions, respectively, that allowed us to build two data cubes of the region in these spectral domains. We also use an original method to distinguish the contribution of the foreground extinction to the absorbed spectra from that of the local extinction in both wavelength ranges. We find that there are residual water and CO ices in the central parsec as well as hydrocarbons and gaseous CO implying very low temperatures of the order of tens of Kelvin in the local environment of Sgr A*.

Sign linguists routinely parse ASL sentences using the category ‘topic’, by which is meant a constituent on the left edge of the main clause, structurally separate from it, and marked by a discrete formal symbolic event, more fully brow raise + backward head tilt + pause, although brow raise is sometimes considered sufficient. This paper provides evidence confirming suspicions that these left-detached constituents need not be marked by brow raise, and suggests that brow raise is better regarded as signaling a type of momentary focus — thus explaining why sign languages tend to employ it as they do — and that it belongs to a larger set of ‘topic-marking’ devices whose iconicity remains active in day-to-day signing.

Founding documents are parsed, revered and preserved but they can also be misread, mythologised and overlooked. This article examines the entangled fates of the Scots Declaration of Arbroath (1320) and the US Declaration of Independence (1776) at a moment between the seven-hundredth anniversary of the one in 2020 and the two-hundred-and-fiftieth anniversary of the other in 2026. It shows that the two ‘declarations’ were both diplomatic texts, rhetorically shaped, and part of sequences of similar documents that have otherwise been largely overlooked. Some recent commentators have suggested that Arbroath influenced the US Declaration; on the contrary, the article argues that the Declaration influenced Arbroath, at least in its reception and its construction as an alleged charter or ‘declaration’ of Scottish ‘independence’. I conclude by presenting fresh evidence for the presence of Arbroath in Philadelphia in 1776, to reflect on the sometimes surprising ways in which documents become, or do not become, foundational.

At the center of the Milky Way lurks a unique compact nonthermal radio source, Sgr A*. It is thought to be powered by a 2.6 × 106 solar mass black hole that is accreting the stellar winds from the numerous early-type stars that exist in the central parsec. However, until recent high resolution Chandra observations, Sgr A* had never been unequivocably detected at wavelengths shorter than the sub-millimeter. We present a spherical accretion model which is consistent with both the flux and steep spectral shape of the X-ray emission from Sgr A*.

The work reported in this study is based on research that has been carried out while developing a sign synthesis system for Greek Sign Language (GSL): theoretical linguistic analysis as well as lexicon and grammar resources derived from this analysis. We focus on the organisation of linguistic knowledge that initiates the multi-functional processing required to achieve sign generation performed by a virtual signer. In this context, structure rules and lexical coding support sign synthesis of GSL utterances, by exploitation of avatar technologies for the representation of the linguistic message. Sign generation involves two subsystems: a Greek-to-GSL conversion subsystem and a sign performance subsystem. The conversion subsystem matches input strings of written Greek-to-GSL structure patterns, exploiting Natural Language Processing (NLP) mechanisms. The sign performance subsystem uses parsed output of GSL structure patterns, enriched with sign-specific information, to activate a virtual signer for the performance of properly coded linguistic messages. Both the conversion and the synthesis procedure are based on adequately constructed electronic linguistic resources. Applicability of sign synthesis is demonstrated with the example of a Web-based prototype environment for GSL grammar teaching.

AbstractIn the context of the life and missionary career of Peter Parker, M.D., a graduate of Yale who went to China in 1834, this article looks first at three issues: Who was the first medical missionary? Who was the first medical missionary in China? Who first introduced Western medicine in China?It also considers the tensions in the emerging understanding of the role of a medical missionary in the mid-nineteenth century, and the problems this caused for Parker, which led to his dismissal by the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions.It then assesses the role of Parker as an American diplomat, when he became involved, first as a part-time secretary and interpreter, and confidential advisor, for the U.S. Commissioner to China, and helped to negotiate the first treaty between China and the United States in 1844. And later when Parker himself was appointed as the US Commissioner, and proposed aggressive military action against China, which led to his recall by the US State Department.Finally, in retirement for 30 years in Washington, DC, Parker received numerous honors and recognition, including appointment as a corporate member of the American Board, which earlier had terminated him as a missionary. We analyze an energetic proton event associated with a stream interaction region (SIR) that was observed at Parker Solar Probe on day 320 of 2018 when the spacecraft was just 0.34 AU from the Sun. Using the Integrated Science Investigation of the Sun instrument suite, we perform a spectral analysis of the event and show how the observed spectra evolve over the course of the event. We find that the spectra from the first day of the event are much more consistent with local acceleration at a weak compression, while spectra from later on are more typical of SIR-related events in which particles accelerated at distant shocks dominate. After the first day, the spectra remain approximately constant, which indicates that the modulation of energetic particles during transit from the presumed source region is weaker than previously thought. We argue that these observations can be explained by a sub-Parker spiral magnetic field structure connecting the spacecraft to a source region in the SIR that is relatively close to the Sun. We further propose that acceleration at weak, pre-shock compressions likely plays an important role in observations of SIR-related events in the inner heliosphere and that future modelling of such events should consider acceleration all along the compression region, not just at the distant shock region.

AbstractThe question of the origin of the gas supplying the accretion process is pertinent especially in the context of enhanced activity of Galactic Center during the past few hundred years, seen now as echo from the surrounding molecular clouds, and the currently observed new cloud approaching Sgr A*. We discuss the so-called Galactic Center mini-spiral as a possible source of material feeding the supermassive black hole on a 0.1 parsec scale. The collisions between individual clumps reduce their angular momentum. and set some of the clumps on a plunging trajectory.We conclude that the amount of material contained in the mini-spiral is sufficient to sustain the luminosity of Sgr A* at the required level. The accretion episodes of relatively dense gas from the mini-spiral passing through a transient ring mode at ~ 104 Rg provide a viable scenario for the bright phase of Galactic Center.

Resumo Neste ensaio são examinados os conceitos de bioética empírica e moral craft segundo Michael Parker. A bioética fundamentada em princípios puramente teóricos mostra-se incapaz de resolver adequadamente conflitos de cunho ético, e a moral só pode ser compreendida no contexto real em que as pessoas vivem. Ambos os axiomas motivam, entre outros, o surgimento da bioética empírica, fundamentada em dados etnográficos, demográficos, de ciências sociais e empíricos. Trata-se de aprender e de resolver conflitos por meio do exercício diário, dos êxitos e erros, de soluções que foram adquiridas e validadas na prática. Moral craft é o conjunto de princípios e valores morais elaborado de forma individual ou coletiva, imprescindíveis para a análise, o estudo e a pesquisa de um caso ou problema. O moral craft como apresentado por Parker revela o caráter que aperfeiçoa a ética empirista.

AbstractWe compute the thermal X-ray emission from hydrodynamic simulations of the 30 Wolf-Rayet (WR) stars orbiting within a parsec of Sgr A*, with the aim of interpreting the Chandra X-ray observations of this region. The model well reproduces the spectral shape of the observations, indicating that the shocked WR winds are the dominant source of this thermal emission. The model X-ray flux is tied to the strength of the Sgr A* outflow, which clears out hot gas from the vicinity of Sgr A*. A moderate outflow best fits the present-day observations, even though this supermassive black hole (SMBH) outflow ended ~100 yr ago.

This feature resembles a stellar bow shock with a symmetry axis pointing to the center. We discuss the possible nature of the feature and the implications of its alignment with other dusty comet-like objects inside the central parsec.

AbstractThe first scholars interested in Anglo-Saxon had to learn it by direct contact with original sources. Work on a dictionary preceded that on a grammar, notably through the efforts of John Joscelyn, Archbishop Parker's Latin Secretary. Like Parker, Sir Henry Spelman (1563/4–1641) found that many of his sources for early English history were in Anglo-Saxon. Consequently he encouraged the study of Old English by establishing a Lectureship in Anglo-Saxon at Cambridge University and worked closely with its first (and only) holder, Abraham Wheelock. Together with Wheelock's pupil, William Retchford, and possibly drawing on some earlier work by Joscelyn (since lost), these scholars attempted to formulate the rudiments of Anglo-Saxon grammar. This pioneering work, basically a parts-of-speech grammar, survives in three versions, two of them incomplete. In this article I discuss the contents and methodology used and present for the first time an edited text of the first modern Old English grammar. It was a remarkable achievement.

AbstractWe report serendipitous detections of line emission with ALMA in band 3, 6, and 7 in the central parsec of the Galactic center at an up to now highest resolution (<0.7″). Among the highlights are the very first and highly resolved images of sub-mm molecular emission of CS, H13CO+, HC3N, SiO, SO, C2H, and CH3OH in the immediate vicinity (~1″ in projection) of Sgr A* and in the circumnuclear disk (CND). The central association (CA) of molecular clouds shows three times higher CS/X (X: any other observed molecule) luminosity ratios than the CND suggesting a combination of higher excitation - by a temperature gradient and/or IR-pumping - and abundance enhancement due to UV- and/or X-ray emission. We conclude that the CA is closer to the center than the CND is and could be an infalling clump consisting of denser cloud cores embedded in diffuse gas. Moreover, we identified further regions in and outside the CND that are ideally suited for future studies in the scope of hot/cold core and extreme PDR/XDR chemistry and consequent star formation in the central few parsecs.

AbstractCosmic rays represent a unique crossing point of high-energy astrophysics and astrochemistry. The cosmic ray ionization rate of molecular hydrogen (ζ2) measured by H3+ spectroscopy in the central parsec of the Galaxy is 2 orders of magnitude higher than that in the dense clouds outside the Galactic center. However, it is still too short, by the factor of 10,000, to agree with an extremely high ζ2 that accommodates the new γ-ray observations of Sgr A* and its environment.

We present deep 1.6 and 2.2 μm images of the central parsec of the Galaxy at a resolution of 0.15″. Most of the flux in earlier seeing limited images comes from about 340 unresolved stellar sources with K≤14. The IRS 16 and 13 complexes are resolved into about two dozen and half a dozen sources, a number of which are probably luminous hot stars. We confirm the presence of a blue near infrared object (K≈13) at the position of the compact radio source Sgr A∗. The spatial centroid of the source number distribution is consistent with the position of Sgr A∗ but not with a position in the IRS 16 complex. The stellar surface density in the central 10″ is very well fitted by an isothermal cluster model with a well defined core radius. The derived core radius of all 340 sources is 0.15±0.05 pc. The central stellar density is a few times 107 M⊙ pc−3. Buildup of massive stars by merging of lower mass stars and collisional disruption of giant atmospheres are very probable processes in the central 0.2 pc.

AbstractThis paper uses original documentary evidence held in the archives of the Wiltshire Archaeological and Natural History Society in Devizes to reassess the work of William Cunnington, FSA, carried out on behalf of Sir Richard Colt Hoare, and the contribution of his two principal excavators, Stephen and John Parker, of Heytesbury, in Wiltshire. Previously the Parkers have been regarded as little more than regular labourers on Cunnington’s pioneering excavations; the evidence now suggests that they (and in particular John) were, in fact, key to the success of Cunnington’s work. By the time of Cunnington’s death in 1810, John Parker was identifying new sites on the Wiltshire Downs and, on occasion, taking sole responsibility for excavating and interpreting them. After 1810 Hoare sponsored few further excavations and, though John was employed on at least one occasion, in 1814, the Parkers dropped back into obscurity and poverty without the regular employment, and perhaps protection, provided by Cunnington. Although John’s obituary in 1867 described him as Cunnington’s ‘principal pioneer’, no research has previously been undertaken that specifically considers the contribution of the Parkers in those early British excavations. This paper seeks to redress that oversight.

Many characteristics of galactic nuclei may be associated with the accretion of ambient gas by a central concentration of mass. Using a 3D hydrodynamical code, we have been simulating this accretion process for Sgr A∗, the compact nonthermal source at the center of the Milky Way, in order to realistically model the gaseous flows in the inner parsec of our Galaxy. In the most recent simulations, we have taken into account the multi-point-like distribution of wind sources and we find that the structure of the flow can be significantly different from that due to a uniform medium. We here present our results concerning the mass and angular momentum accretion rates and discuss how these may be used to set constraints on our Galaxy's central engine.

Trata-se de estudo com abordagem qualitativa, cujo objetivo é refletir com mulheres portadoras de transtornos psíquicos, o vivenciar de seu cotidiano, identificando os significados e co-construindo possibilidades de "vir-a-ser mais" como cidadãs. O estudo foi desenvolvido com moradoras de uma Residência Terapêutica, vinculada ao Instituto de Psiquiatria de Santa Catarina, em São José/SC. A coleta dos dados efetivou-se concomitante à implementação do processo de cuidado, segundo a teoria de Parse. Na análise dos dados foram identificados os seguintes significados: convivendo com o transtorno psíquico; co-constituindo padrões de inter-relação com outros; convivendo com as dificuldades de enfrentamento e superação de limites; co-criando possibilidades de vir-a-ser em saúde, cidadania e qualidade de vida; e co-construindo a Residência Terapêutica como espaço de reabilitação psicossocial. Concluiu-se que vivenciar este processo propiciou mudanças de perspectivas destas mulheres, contribuindo para a mobilização de transcendências, no sentido de "vir-a-ser mais" como ser humano.

AbstractSeveral examples of thin, Keplerian, sub-parsec megamaser disks have been discovered in the nuclei of active galaxies and used to precisely determine the mass of their host black holes. We show that there is an empirical linear correlation between the disk radius and black hole mass and that such disks are naturally formed as molecular clouds pass through the galactic nucleus and temporarily engulf the central supermassive black hole. For initial cloud column densities below about 1023.5 cm−2 the disk is non-self gravitating, but for higher cloud columns the disk would fragment and produce a compact stellar disk similar to that observed around Sgr A* at the galactic centre.

AbstractThe innermost parsec around Sgr A* has been found to play host to two disks or streamers of O and W-R stars. They are misaligned by an angle approaching 90°. That the stars are approximately coeval indicates that they formed in the same event rather than independently. We have performed smoothed particle hydrodynamic simulations of the infall of a single prolate cloud towards a massive black hole. As the cloud is disrupted, the large spread in angular momentum can, if conditions allow, lead to the creation of misaligned gas disks. In turn, stars may form within those disks. We are now investigating the origins of these clouds in the Galactic center (GC) region.

Accurate, timely, and reliable farmland mapping is a prerequisite for agricultural management and environmental assessment in mountainous areas. However, in these areas, high spatial heterogeneity and diversified planting structures together generate various small farmland parcels with irregular shapes that are difficult to accurately delineate. In addition, the absence of optical data caused by the cloudy and rainy climate impedes the use of time-series optical data to distinguish farmland from other land use types. Automatic delineation of farmland parcels in mountain areas is still a very difficult task. This paper proposes an innovative precise farmland parcel extraction approach supported by very high resolution(VHR) optical image and time series synthetic aperture radar(SAR) data. Firstly, Google satellite imagery with a spatial resolution of 0.55 m was used for delineating the boundaries of ground parcel objects in mountainous areas by a hierarchical extraction scheme. This scheme divides farmland into four types based on the morphological features presented in optical imagery, and designs different extraction models to produce each farmland type, respectively. The potential farmland parcel distribution map is then obtained by the layered recombination of these four farmland types. Subsequently, the time profile of each parcel in this map was constructed by five radar variables from the Sentinel-1A dataset, and the time-series classification method was used to distinguish farmland parcels from other types. An experiment was carried out in the north of Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, Southwest China. The result shows that, the producer’s accuracy of farmland parcels obtained by the hierarchical scheme is increased by 7.39% to 96.38% compared with that without this scheme, and the time-series classification method produces an accuracy of 80.83% to further obtain the final overall accuracy of 96.05% for the farmland parcel maps, showing a good performance. In addition, through visual inspection, this method has a better suppression effect on background noise in mountainous areas, and the extracted farmland parcels are closer to the actual distribution of the ground farmland.

Abstract Using the JVLA, we explored the Galactic center (GC) with a resolution of 0.″05 at 33.0 and 44.6 GHz. We detected 64 hypercompact radio sources (HCRs) in the central parsec. The dense group of HCRs can be divided into three spectral types: 38 steep-spectrum (α ≤ −0.5) sources, 10 flat-spectrum (−0.5 < α ≤ 0.2) sources, and 17 inverted-spectrum sources having α > 0.2, assuming S ∝ ν α . The steep-spectrum HCRs are likely to represent a population of massive stellar remnants associated with nonthermal compact radio sources powered by neutron stars and stellar black holes. The surface-density distribution of the HCRs as a function of radial distance (R) from Sgr A* can be described as a steep power law Σ(R) ∝ R −Γ, with Γ = 1.6 ± 0.2, along with the presence of a localized order-of-magnitude enhancement in the range 0.1–0.3 pc. The steeper profile of the HCRs relative to that of the central cluster might result from the concentration of massive stellar remnants by mass segregation at the GC. The GC magnetar SGR J1745−2900 belongs to the inverted-spectrum subsample. We find two spectral components present in the averaged radio spectrum of SGR J1745−2900, separated at ν ∼ 30 GHz. The centimeter component is fitted to a power law with α cm = −1.5 ± 0.6. The enhanced millimeter component shows a rising spectrum α mm = 1.1 ± 0.2. Based on the ALMA observations at 225 GHz, we find that the GC magnetar is highly variable on a day-to-day timescale, showing variations up to a factor of 6. Further JVLA and ALMA observations of the variability, spectrum, and polarization of the HCRs are critical for determining whether they are associated with stellar remnants.

We studied the spectroscopic properties of the low redshift (z = 0.0130) interacting dwarf galaxy SDSS J114818.18-013823.7. It is a compact galaxy of half-light radius 521 parsec. It’s r-band absolute magnitude is -16.71 mag. Using a publicly available optical spectrum from the Sloan Sky Survey data archive, we calculated star-formation rate, emission line metallicity, and dust extinction of the galaxy. Star formation rate (SFR) due to Hα is found to be 0.118 Mʘ year-1 after extinction correction. The emission-line metallicity, 12+log(O/H), is 8.13 dex. Placing these values in the scaling relation of normal galaxies, we find that SDSS J114818.18-013823.7 is a significant outlier from both size-magnitude relation and SFR-B-band absolute relation. Анотація:
Os desafios colocados no presente à psicologia, e nomeadamente à psicologia social, podem ser considerados como fazendo parte dos debates iniciados pelo pós-modernismo como corrente geral, mas que na psicologia social se organizam em torno da escola do “construcionismo social” (Gergen, 1994a; 1994b; Shotter, 1993, 1995), ou mesmo da “psicologia discursiva” (Harré, 1995; Harré & Gillett, 1994; Parker, 1992; Potter & Wetherell, 1987). Depois de sistematizados os pressupostos destas perspectivas e apresentada a emergência de novas realidades e recursos de acção, analisar-se-á como o género pode ser concebido nestas novas abordagens, no quadro de uma breve reflexão sobre a problemática do relativismo nestas perspectivas. Terminamos apresentando as alternativas e estratégicas necessárias a uma psicologia feminista, que tem pela frente um conjunto de questões que representam desafios estimulantes para o debate que urge continuar, sem esquecer a acção política, sempre necessária à construção da igualdade entre homens e mulheres.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.17575/rpsicol.v15i1.490
