Motivated by two issues related to tokamak plasmas, this thesis proposes two numerical approximation methods for two mathematical problems associated with them. On the one hand, in order to study the turbulent transport of particles, a numerical method based on subdivision schemes is presented for the simulation of particle trajectories in a strongly varying velocity field. On the other hand, in the context of modeling the plasma-wall interaction, a penalization method is proposed to take into account Neumann or Robin boundary conditions. Analyzed on model problems of increasing complexity, these methods are finally applied in more realistic situations of practical interest in the study of the edge plasma
Manchec, Karine. "Jugements sous influences : l'information catégorielle dans les situations judiciaires complexes." Rennes 2, 2000. http://www.theses.fr/2000REN20049.
This thesis comes deliberately within the scape of the judiciary and especially within the field of French law. Its objective is to tick of the complex judicial occurrences which make it necessary for people to resort to categorical information in order to pass sentence. Four experimentations (see chapters 3 and 4) allow us to put to the test the hypothesis according to which the complexity, bearing on a sentence is all about the burden of information, typified from both quantitative and qualitative angles. Within French penal proceedings, judges can consider that a crim is in fact a criminal offence, and then the choice to pass sentence upon a crime is motiveted by the fact that jurors may not easily understand the penal reading of what actually happened. The hypothesis according to which the complexity in line with the serious character of the facts and the judicial situations actually make people use categorial information for sentencing purposes is thus put to the test all along five experimentations (see chapter 5). These demonstrate that individuals, when faced with a complex judicial situation, back up their assessment for the person charged according to the category he or she belongs to. This is proof of the emergenceof a bias in their judgment. The concluding chapter too gives us the opportunity to put forward a new grading scale for judicial sentences ; worked out with a particular regard for ecological needs. The outcome of these studies provide answers to the interrogations raised by crime sentencing proceedings as freely implemented by magistrates

Valitova, Aysylu. "Gestion des conflits au travail : les systèmes relationnels complexes dans trois situations en France, Canada et Russie." Thesis, Lille 1, 2017. http://www.theses.fr/2017LIL12014.
We develop an approach based on articulation of four main dimensions: the analysis of conflicts in terms of process of escalation; the psychosociological phenomena of interpersonal communication and positioning in the relation (Palo-Alto School); the cultural dimensions; and the individual trajectories in particular in terms of habitus in the meaning of Bourdieu and as developed by Lahire. Our global theoretical model is applied to three case studies of conflicts in a community center in France, a Canadian university and a cultural institution in Russia. The conflict begins within interpersonal relations with relational incongruent positioning in the meaning of the Palo-Alto school (Relational disjunctions). Numerous "classic" psychosociological processes are also combined: construction of intergroups social identity, social facilitation, polarization, group thinking. This analysis shows how the individual and interpersonal aspects, due to the interacting positionings of people, eventually result in conflict escalation. These cases illustrate how relational interlinks and psychosociological processes at the individual as well at the interpersonal levels turn to be out of control of implied people. An analysis in terms of actors' strategies then appears insufficient to understand the conflict dynamics. All these processes, constructing a "complex of situation", results in a social conflict in which finally all protagonists are losers. The cases analysis underline that contextual factors (Habitus, fields, cultures, including national cultures, and so on) are not determinant; they are "acting" through their internalization in people’s behavior in the present situation

Our research deals with the possibilities offered by PES for transforming the student's relationship to the written word, moving him or her from thinking in action to explicit thinking. Its implementation calls upon the didactics of the disciplines of PES and French in relation to the production of writings from experience, as well as professional didactics in relation to student activity and teaching devices. Our approach is thus one of cross-fertilization between didactics. The devices we have designed place our work within an exploratory research framework that borders on action research. The activity deployed by students in PES serves as an anchor point for the study of the texts they produce, which are subjected to a comprehensive analysis coupled with an explanatory analysis that anchors our research in a multi-referential perspective. Our aim is to get all students to write, and to measure the impact of this writing on the formation of their knowledge. Our results show that our approach encourages thinking in action, which is part of a collective experience and expresses itself singularly in a new form of writing that integrates an individual/collective dialectic

Journé, Benoit. "Les organisations complexes à risques : gérer la sûreté par les ressources, étude de situations de conduite de centrales nucléaires." Palaiseau, Ecole polytechnique, 1999. http://www.theses.fr/1999EPXX0003.
Nuclear power plants are part of + high reliability organizations ;. Nonetheless, once a certain stage has been reached, how can higher level of safety be enhanced ? the thesis attempts to anwer this question by means of case study based on observations of normal operations in control rooms. The concepts of sensemakmg (k. Weick, 1995) and agencement organisationnel (j. Girin, 1995) have been used and mixed to analyze our field work. Safety depends on the capacity to anticipate any incident or accident that might arise. But safety also means being able to deal with unexpected situations potentially dangerous. The strategy developped up to now relies on the first approach. It replaces human initiative by instructions and technical devices. The thesis suggests completing the present strategy by an other, based on the second approach. Safety must be ensured by the way human factors and other resources in the control room make sense of unexpected situations. Such a strategy supposes to modify the traditional representation of human beings in complex and risky organizations

The study conducted in French Polynesia focuses on how primary school principals deal with situations they consider complex. We focus on what they say about these situations through interview surveys. The situation considered complex is studied through the constraint convened by the action of an Other (teacher, parent, mayor, etc.) which opposes the constraint induced by one of the attributions defining the role of the primary school principal. This double constraint establishes the logical levels of the situation (the system) and constitutes infra-systems that maintain fusion-separation relations (Barel, 1989). Then, the constraints in opposition deliver a contrary meaning and, the primary school principal perceives the paradox of the situation. To master it, he implements one or more double strategies (Barel, 1989) through the triangulation of relationships that allows us to grasp the process of producing meaning. Indeed, the third party (subject/object) is not random. Taken in context, it is the fruit of an unconscious choice by the primary school principal according to the figure of criticism analysed through common superior principles (Boltanski and Thévenot, 1991). The combinations between actors engaged by the third party proceed by actualization/potentiation of relations and form the double strategy of compartmentalisation, compromise or double bind. Thus, this research makes it possible to understand the way in which the primary school principals master the situations judged complex by a game of visibilization/invisibilization of the relations to make "as if" the paradox did not exist

Thesis, Université Grenoble Alpes (ComUE), 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016GREAM049/document.
The aim of this work is to study the means necessary to allow students to accede to the raison d'être of the knowledge involved in the building of notions of Calculus and Analysis. The thesis deals with this question and develops a theoretical frame for the conception of engineering which aims this sense and this necessity. This theoretical frame, designed in TDS theory, stands on a model of rationalities and some adaptations of TDS mainly on heuristic levels. We deploy the scientific debate construct to design lessons based on this frame. A didactic engineering aiming at the notion of limit and its formal definition is developed and experimented. Productions resulting from this work suggest a best appropriation of the definition of a limit, as well as a better link between the mathematical objects handled in situations (sequences, functions…) and the formal definition

In 2050, the elderly population over 65-years-old, will represent about 20% of the world's population. Getting older is an opportunity, but unfortunately it also makes people dependent. This dependence requires help, sometimes permanent, from relatives, health professionals and in the worst case may cause a placement of the elderly in a nursing home. Unfortunately, this kind of help is not, and will not be, sufficient to allow every elderly person to live the rest of their life in the respect of human dignity. A potential technological support can be found with automatic detection systems which help detect critical situations. Of course, this kind of system will not replace human help, but only support them. The goal of this thesis is to develop an integrated systemwhich can meet these expectations. After a review of the critical situations of the elderly living independently at home, a bibliography of the existing systems of detection is done. This analysis will help to design a multi sensor analysis and classification system of critical situations detection. The latter is based on different kinds of non invasive sensors located in the homes of the elderly. Experimental data allows to classifying the activity of the elderly thanks to a data fusion algorithm. In case of a critical situation, the alarmsystem will automatically alert the emergency platform. This system was also tested thanks to functional and laboratory experiments

This thesis studies the situations of inclusion of young children with ASD enrolled in preschool. More precisely, this thesis has three objectives. First, this study aims to study the dynamics of the interaction between adults and pupils with ASD included in a nursery school, according to the proposed activity (free play and teacher-led activities). Then, the evolution of this dynamic was analyzed during a school year. Finally, the last objective was to better understand the evolution of teachers' professional representations of situations of inclusion. In this perspective, eight kindergarten classes welcoming a child with ASD were first observed. Then, the observation continued in (ou with?) two classes during a school year. In parallel to these observations, semi-directive interviews were conducted with teachers at three different times of the year in order to address their professional representations. The analysis of observational data from State Space Grids indicates that there is no difference between the activities for either the social participation of children or adult guidance. Moreover, the observations made during the year reveal that the situations of inclusion evolve in a singular way from one type of activity to another, and from one situation of inclusion to another. At the same time, the interview’s results show that professional representations change differently over time depending on the teacher and the inclusion situation in which they find themselves. These results show a diversity of situations of inclusion in preschool and question the training systems within the framework of inclusive schools. The conclusions of the various studies lead us to propose a three-dimensional analysis model of the situations of inclusion of young children with ASD in preschool

This work examines the advantages of training in speed swimming complex situations for 8th grade pupils and there are many theoretical bases attached to it. The competencies-based approach (APC in French) at school, according to the pedagogy of integration, invites to conceive complex situations leading pupils to integrate their resources to solve problems. This teaching approach is also based on the development and acquisition social psychology putting forward training devices, social interactions and verbal exchanges. More precisely, this work is built according to the socioconstructivist principles of the co-operative learning. During a sequence of twelve PE sessions, two groups of pupils in two different teaching conditions, were tested in complex situations. This work pursues three goals. Initially, we compared pupils according to the condition (individual/interactive), their acquisitions on the physical, social and methodological levels. The results reveal more important progress on the level of chronometric performances for the pupils of the interactive condition. Then, we examined the resources, induced by the complex situation in the process of “setting in synergy”. To be prepared to integrate his complex situation resources optimizes the development of physical, cognitive and social skills. Lastly, our observations reveal the effects of competition on the pupils’ co-operation. The training by complex situation optimizes the coordination of individual skills to succeed in the collective performance

This thesis concerns development projects of complex interactive systems and particularly the collaboration between project partners. In complex work situation (where safety issues, risk of organisational changes are important), interactive system design or re-engineering projects involve the participation of different stakeholders from different domains, using different methods, models and vocabularies. This diversity engenders communication problems, particularly for the information transmitted between the stakeholders. When information is not complete and/or not relevant, they can be the cause of interactive applications not corresponding to the future users’ needs. An approach based on the use of Software Engineering and Human-Computer Interaction modeling techniques as common modeling solutions to create work supports between stakeholders is proposed. A modeling solution to support the representation of complex ergonomic problems and recommendations issued from ergonomic inspection is also proposed; this method, called ErgoPNets, combines Petri Nets and ergonomic criteria

This research is a contribution to the identification of guidance procedures and teaching styles implemented in teaching by complex situation in physical education (PE). Our aim is to clarify the way used by experts to implement and regulate the students’ activity in this type of education, taking in account different factors (characteristics of the teacher, nature of the motor skill sought in the APSA, and the nature of the pedagogical situation) that may influence this teaching practice. Our work is positioned on a mixed scientific framework, which original construction logic aims to develop and support teaching practices through the help of science of education and social psychology applied to education. Our empirical approach is based on ordinary observations of PSE teaching sessions. In all of the deduced results, the three studies highlight some unchanged characteristics in the guiding methods of teachers in a complex situation. Despite the noticed differences (guiding modes) in the three studies according to the different factors previously defined, in one way or another, the observed teachers preserves students' autonomy in a solution-seeking activities. On the other hand, teachers’ behavior in targeted situations was characterized by directive guidance focused on the technical aspect (didactic situations). Thus, from a disciplinary point of view, (in-depth experience in the practice and teaching of APSA), our results show that professional experience (as a teacher of PSE) does not seem to compensate for the lack of experience in the APSA taught

Digital epigraphy invite to re-think the discipline itself. We advocate a methodology in this thesis: the act of digitization. We believe that digitization is an act that depends on a well posed questioning, an explicit and assumed definition of the object to be digitized, which means. It implies to think about the concept of “inscription” to which we prefer the concept of epigraphic device and epigraphic situation that expose individuals to the operability of writing. We think that epigraphy studies situations possible thanks to a deliberate device that exposes the individual to writings, whatever is her or his will. With this reformulation of epigraphic study, we believe that digital publishing scientific primary source of this type, instead of reproducing paper that disintegrate the epigraphic device should be based on multimedia information system. We propose, through experiments and prototypes, to review the scientific publishing process of epigraphic knowledge, thanks to digital tools

The concept of competence and the approach by competence constitute a genuine preoccupation of different educatifs systems. The introduction of process teaching and learning based on competences is the core of reforming projects required by the schools to adapt to the contemporary needs. The approach by competence accentuate the skills of student to practice whatever he learned at the school in his everyday life. The essential objectif of this study is to analyze the effect of the introduction of the approach by competence on the Lebanese educatif system and the possibility to adapt this approach in the Lebanese public schools. Thus, to achieve our goal, a Curriculum based on the approach by competence compatible with the Lebanese conditions of teaching been established

Thesis, Paris 5, 2012. http://www.theses.fr/2012PA05H119.
This dissertation seeks to contribute to improving the practice of psychological assessment in a transcultural setting, in a context where psychologists see ever increasing numbers of patients of diverse cultural origins. We first frame our investigation by linking it to such broad issues as the universality of psychic structures, the definition of culture, the challenges related to calibrated tests and the research around adapting clinical tools and practices. We then discuss the complemetarist methodology as well as the psychic dimension of migration. The second part is made up of two studies. We first deal with the issue of cultural biases in nonverbal tests, with a comparative study of samples of the Rey and Osterrieth figures collected electronically. We compare productions by children in France (N=914), Burkina Faso (N=76) and Iran (N=45) but also by children of various cultural origins within the French sample. Results reveal an impact of culture on the perceptive structure, which also holds across migrants of various origins living in a same area. A second part presentsAvicenne’s ELAL, a language test specially created for children immersed in a bilingual environment by theCentre du Langaged’Avicenne (APHP), which is undergoing a validation process by our multidisciplinary team.We explain why this test is necessary in a transcultural setting before describing the steps leading to creating and validating it. After administering it 18 times including 4 times in Arabic, 8 in Tamil and 6 in Soninke, we offer initial field remarks. Finally, a general discussion draws lessons from those different pieces of research and suggests possible improvements for assessments, both on the adaptation of clinical practices and on necessary avenues for further research. This leads us to emphasize the need for multidisciplinary works bringing together research and clinic and for a nuanced and pragmatic approach of these matters

This thesis is devoted to the study of the dynamics of complex systems. We consider coupled networks built with multiple instances of deterministicdynamical systems, defined by ordinary differential equations or partial differential equations of parabolic type, which describe an evolution problem. We study the link between the internal dynamics of each node in the network, its topology, and its global dynamics. We analyze the coupling conditions which favor a particular dynamics at the network's scale, and study the impact of the interactions on the bifurcations identified on each node. In particular, we consider coupled networks of reaction-diffusion systems; we analyze their asymptotic behavior by searching positively invariant regions, and proving the existence of exponential attractors of finite fractal dimension, derived from energy estimates which suggest the dissipative nature of those networks of reaction-diffusion systems. Our framework includes the study of multiple applications. Among them, we consider a mathematical model for the geographical analysis of behavioral reactions of individuals facing a catastrophic event. We present the modeling choices that led to the study of this evolution problem, and its mathematical study, with a stability and bifurcation analysis of the equilibria. We highlight the decisive role of evacuation paths in coupled networks built from this model, in order to reach the expected equilibrium corresponding to a global return of all individuals to the daily behavior, avoiding a propagation of panic. Furthermore, the research of emergent periodic solutions in complex networks of oscillators brings us to consider coupled networks of hamiltonian systems, for which we construct polynomial perturbationswhich provoke the emergence of limit cycles, question which is related to the sixteenth Hilbert's problem

The main purpose of this research is based on identifying and analysing the usages diversity of complex technical systems, Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV), carried out by heterogeneous professional users so as to contribute to a typology of usages. The aim of the typology is to serve as an informational resource for the actors of the design process. This work revolves around two directions. ■ The first direction focuses on the analysis of the usages diversity so as to be able to put to the fore the structuring criteria. To this end, we propose a transversal analysis unit to all the activities: “the situated usages of a multi instrumented system (MIS)”. We define them as all the user’s actions directed towards a specific goal that performs a general and situated activity, and involves all or part of the MIS as a mediator or object of the activity. The MIS represents the sub-instrumental system built from a complex technical system by the user. The analyses are based on two sets of observations (exploratory and systematic ones) among a variety of users. The results show that there are wider dimensions to the several poles of the instrumented activity influencing the realization of the usages. Indeed, the user is having complex interrelations with the resources of his action and with the characteristics of the global activity allowed by the usages and the characteristics of the situation under which they are produced. Therefore there are different types of usages depending on the SMI position within the usage and the object of the usage.■ The second direction aims at a reduction of the usages diversity purpose so as to achieve of categorization. Creating a categorization implies the need to define an analysis unit that underlies the construction of categories and variables allowing their discrimination. To this end, we propose to highlight a second analysis unit, “the usages situations’ classes of a SMI”, to enable further generalization through variables that structure the usages. But the sole conception of a categorization is not sufficient enough compared to the company’s design characteristics and to the various informative needs of its actors. As a consequence we propose a first task to apprehend the understanding of the processes involved as well as the different agents’ assignments which contribute to this understanding and to the informational needs in terms of final users’ usages they may require. In order to do so, a series of semi structured interviews were held with those involved in design: 1) some tasks imply the necessity to take into account LCV usages; 2) the performing of distinct activities at various set times and/or design processes. The results offer guidelines to contribute to the evolution of the typology of usages. These various works conducted enable us to propose different ways of developing the existing typology of usages in the company. They cover two dimensions: 1) the data provided by typology itself and one’s way to present it; 2) the methodology used to update the data

Abstract Much of cancer patients treated in Sweden feel that they receive inadequate information in connection with disease notification and treatment. Previous research has shown that a majority of these patients feel that they received too little information and they do not understand the information they received. The purpose of this project is to investigate whether information technology, in the form of an application, can obtain personalized context-based quality information whenever the need arises. The application should also make it possible for the patient to be able to come in contact with the caregiver, via email, telephone or voice and video calls. To get a cancer diagnosis usually leads to a traumatic crisis which, in varying degrees, limit the ability to assimilate information. This, together with a very demanding treatment, both physically and mentally, places the patient in a very vulnerable situation. Being well-informed about the disease and treatment may help patients to more easily manage their situation and to improve mental well-being. In this work, pre-treated cancer patients were interviewed to determine what they feel is important for cancer patients to feel well informed, and the way in which an application could contribute to this. All the interviews showed that participants experienced that there was inadequate information in connection with their disease and treatment. The interviewees were aware that they had received information during their illness but their experience was that it was incomplete and performed at a time when they could not assimilate it. The interviews revealed proposals on the content of an imaginary application, all in one way or another related to information. The proposals were sorted under six headings which then became the inputs on the intended application's home page. A mockup was designed to demonstrate a proposal on the home page.

The main interrogation of this thesis is: “What are the cognitive processes involved in judgments of potential conflict given by air traffic controllers? “. To answer this question we investigated the risk judgments about conflict between two aircraft given by expert and novice air traffic controllers following the approach of the lens of Brunswik (1952) and the model of integrating information of Anderson (1996). The application of these two models to the risk judgments allow us to identify particular components that have a major role in shaping judgments and specify the rules governing integration. This application is developed across three empirical studies: the first relates to risk judgments issued by air traffic controllers' experts and students. In this study we propose a model of risk judgments based on three variables. The second study is a test of the proposed model and an analysis of the rules of integrating information. And the last study incorporates several elements in shaping judgments. We demonstrate that it is crucial to adopt an individual differences approach to study judgments by air traffic controllers. Also, these findings should have implications for developing user-friendly interfaces with conflict detection devices and for devising ATC training programs

Maintaining a healthy state relies on many interactions between neural structures largely distributed in the organism and operating at different timescales. This structural complexity participates in the adaptiveness of physiological systems through a multi-level integration providing the control system with critical properties of flexibility, robustness and adaptability. This complexity in neurophysiological control systems can be evaluated through the analysis of their output signals: a complex signal is associated with a complex physiological network, and hence with an efficient control. Nonlinear analyses of physiological signals have proven their ability to characterize such complexity by introducing quantitative markers. These analyses bring new perspectives to the understanding of control strategies participating in health and performance in humans. Particularly, neurophysiological control distribution can be explored under different constraints to reveal adaptation strategies to numerous daily challenges. This way, studying the time course of heart rate, locomotor rhythms and postural sway is a way to explore control strategies contributing to health and performance in humans, in various contexts and under different constraints. In the present work, the frequency content, fractal fluctuations and entropy levels in time series generated by these systems are studied under different conditions. In a context of applied research, the experimental work has been conducted not only in the laboratory but also in ecological situations using connected devices (smartphone). For each situation, a methodological reflection is led to identify the most appropriate complexity analysis method for the control system studied, in line with the measurement devices used (connected devices or laboratory sensors)

This thesis based on previous publications retraces clinical interventions and brings together written materials (15 articles, monographs and a book) spanning a period of 20 years on a form of intrafamilial abuse exploiting the medical field: the Munchausen Syndrome by proxy.Since our first encounter with a case of MSbP in 1996, we have learned to think about early childhood trauma using different psychopathological models and distinct clinical approaches (psychodynamic, EMDR, Lifespan Integration) in search of a fertile dialectisation and, over time, have committed to a trans- and inter-disciplinary perspective based on psychodynamic, cognitive and neurophysiological hypotheses to understand traumatic phenomena. From there interest in studying the line of thought involving epistemological fields assumed at first glance to be opposites reflects an evolution of clinical practice in describing how patients – authors or victims of MSbP have benefited from this dynamic. Composed of three parts, the first part of this thesis is devoted to a general presentation of the psychopathology of trauma and early distress taking into consideration the conceptual developments treated throughout our writings. The second part, centered on MSbP focuses on its semiology and etiology, medical and psychopathological terminology as well as the multidimensional interventions necessary for its treatment. The third part is dedicated to different psychotherapeutic approaches that we have used in treating patients, adults or children involved with MSbP. This last part gives rise to an understanding of how the concepts of splitting and dissociation can be revisited and integrated into a neuropsychological developmental perspective. Characterized by an epistemological framework based on a theoretic and therapeutic pluralism, this experience is shared with the desire of encouraging a psychopathological approach including complementarity, intersubjectivity and phenomenology

Complex socio-technical systems, like command and control work in military operations and rescue operations, are becoming more and more common in the society, and there is a growing urge for more useful and effective systems. Qualitative data from complex socio-technical systems can be challenging to analyse. This thesis probes one way of enhancing existing analysis methods to better suit this task.
Our case study is carried out at FOI (the Swedish Defence Research Agency). One of FOI’s tasks is to analyse complex situations, for example military operations, and they have developed an approach called the Reconstruction – exploration approach (R&E) for analysing distributed tactical operations (DTOs). The R&E approach has a rich contextual approach, but lacks a systematic analytic methodology.
The assignment of this thesis is to investigate how the R&E approach could be enhanced and possibly merged with other existing cognitive analysis methods to better suit the analysis of DTOs. We identified that the R&E approach’s main weaknesses were the lack of structure and insufficient way of handling subjective data, which contributed to difficulties when performing a deeper analysis. The approach also needed a well-defined analysis method for increasing the validity of the identified results.
One way of improvement was to integrate the R&E approach with several cognitive analysis methods based on their respective individual strengths. We started by analysing the R&E approach and then identified qualities in other methods that complemented the weaknesses in the R&E approach. Finally we developed an integrated method.
The Critical Decision Method (CDM) appeared to be the most suitable method for integration with the R&E approach. Nevertheless, the CDM did not have all the qualities asked for so we chose to use functions from other methods included in our initial analysis as well; ETA and Grounded theory.
The integration resulted in a method with a well-defined method for analysis and the possibility to handle subjective data. This can contribute to a deeper analysis of DTOs.

Deriving from the observation of an accentuated lack of learning of French as a Foreign Language in a secondary school in Greece, this research attempts to question the relation between the notions of “learner” in the official curriculum and the “real student”. Disciplinary discourse claiming modernisation of the educational system through a communicative doctrine construes the “learner” in generic terms as supposedly bearing a functional relationship with language, being an active participant and an actor in every communication situation. On the other hand, the “real student” can be comprehended through the observation of his acting and interacting with the institution and by listening to his words, those of a simulacrum of a student faltering in the margins of learning. In such a context, the process of teaching and learning French acquires particular significations. Due to its “foreignness”, the French language potentially constitutes a symbolic space for someone being a student, a student participating in the learning process through the emergence of his subjectivity in speech. On the condition that the teacher considers the student beyond the curriculum and by being involved himself as a subject in forming relations between the disciplinary discourse and classroom activities. To accept and to express the passage between the negativity of the student's learning and the emergence of a real learner marks the student’s consideration as being a subject in the process of teaching

Many institutions have developed new ways to improve the teaching-learning process, trying to adequate the classes to the emerging new technologies based on Web 2.0, as in the case of social media. In this re-inventing process teachers must have the leadership skills both in classrooms and virtual learning environments, allowing the students to overcome their expectations of the learning process. This dissertation is focused on a case study that seeks to identify what is the ideal leadership profile into hybrid environments, using a group satisfaction index, graphical analysis and student speeching skills. The teaching methodology used by the teacher was the PBL (Problem-Based Learning) that emphasizes the critical mindset. The research was carried out during the disciplines into the Manufacturing Engineering graduation and post-graduation program of Universidade de São Paulo (USP) EESC department. The students were challenged by the PBL methodology to think about the best way to build their own know how. The data obtained with the application of questionaries in the 2011 and 2012 semesters showed that the \"Laissez-Faire\" leadership is not recommended during the PBL methodology implementation, requiring more interferences and attention from the teacher to break the paradigm of the traditional teaching models. The conclusion is that the connection between the traditional and the new teaching-learning processes can be built using situational leadership, alternating between transformational leadership and transactional models, contextually, excluding the Laissez-faire.
