Parmi les services de distribution de contenu multimédia vers des récepteurs portatifs, la télévision mobile est un service populaire. Les réseaux de diffusion vidéo numérique (DVB) offrent à la fois une grande capacité et une bonne couverture pour effectuer une distribution massive de contenus multimédias. Les réseaux DVB conventionnels sont conçus pour couvrir des récepteurs fixes avec une antenne sur le toit. Les récepteurs portatifs ont des configurations différentes qui présentent un moins bon bilan de liaison. En règle générale, un système de diffusion est unidirectionnel et il n'a pas une voie de retour pour assurer la réception des données sur le côté du récepteur. D'autre part, les réseaux cellulaires ont des liens bidirectionnels plus fiables avec les récepteurs portatifs. Lorsqu'on effectue une transmission d'un contenu populaire en propre vers chaque récepteur portable, cela génère une énorme charge dans les réseaux cellulaires. Dans l'exemple spécifique de la télévision mobile, il n'est pas efficace de régénérer la même charge de transmission pour chaque récepteur portable. Dans notre travail de thèse, nous considérons une coopération entre les systèmes de diffusion et les réseaux cellulaires pour une réception multimédia efficace et de qualité au niveau des récepteurs portatifs. Nous utilisons la liaison réseau cellulaire pour la retransmission des paquets perdus dans un flux de données de diffusion multimédia. Dans ce travail, nous analysons la couverture pour les récepteurs portatifs dans un réseau isofréquence de diffusion. Nous considérons spécifiquement plusieurs scénarios intérieurs et extérieurs dans un réseau DVB-T2. Nous analysons comment un flux de données est traité en DVB-T2 et de proposer un système pour l'identification des paquets dans la transmission DVB. La contribution de base de notre travail de thèse est la proposition de réparation d'un flux en temps réel (RFR) service basé sur le réseau cellulaire, qui répare les flux de données multimédia pour les récepteurs portatifs en temps réel. Le service RFR proposé est basé sur un protocole client-serveur, i. E. Contraint Application Protocol (CoAP). La proposition RFR est également étayée par l'analyse de la charge générée dans le réseau d'accès radio LTE a cause de service RFR
Among the multimedia content distribution services to the handheld receivers, mobile TV is a popular service. Digital Video Broadcast (DVB) networks have high capacity and coverage to perform a mass multimedia content distribution. The conventional DVB networks are designed to cover fixed receivers, which have a roof antenna. The handheld receivers have different configurations which cause weaker link budgets. Generally, a broadcast system is unidirectional and it does not have a feedback channel to ensure the reception of the data at the receiver side. On the other hand, cellular networks have more reliable bidirectional links with the handheld receivers. Individual multimedia transmission to each handheld receiver generates a huge load in the cellular networks. In the specific example of mobile TV, it is not efficient to regenerate the same transmission load for each handheld receiver. In our thesis work, we consider a cooperation between the broadcast systems and the cellular networks for an efficient multimedia reception at the handheld receivers. We use the cellular network link for the retransmission of the lost packets from a multimedia broadcast data-flow reception. In this work we analyze the coverage for handheld receivers in a single frequency broadcast network. We specifically consider several outdoor and indoor scenarios in a DVB-T2 network. We analyze how a data flow is processed in DVB-T2 and propose a scheme for the identification of packets in the DVB transmission. The core contribution of our thesis work is the proposition of a Real-time Flow Repair (RFR) Service based on cellular network, which repairs any multimedia data-flow to the handheld receivers in real-time. The proposed RFR service is based on a light client-server application protocol, namely Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP). The RFR proposal is also supported by the analysis of the load generated in LTE Radio access network due to RFR service.

Despite the huge success and adoption of computer networks in the recent decades, traditional network architecture falls short of some requirements by many applications. One particular shortcoming is the lack of convenient methods for providing quality of service (QoS) guarantee to various network applications. In this dissertation, we explore new Software-Defined Networking (SDN) mechanisms to provision QoS to targeted network flows. Our study contributes to providing QoS support to applications in three aspects. First, we explore using alternative routing paths for selected flows that have QoS requirements. Instead of using the default shortest path used by the current network routing protocols, we investigate using the SDN controller to install forwarding rules in switches that can achieve higher bandwidth. Second, we develop new mechanisms for guaranteeing the latency requirement by those applications depending on timely delivery of sensor data and control signals. The new mechanism pre-allocates higher priority queues in routers/switches and reserves these queues for control/sensor traffic. Third, we explore how to make the applications take advantage of the opportunity provided by SDN. In particular, we study new transmission mechanisms for big data transfer in the cloud computing environment. Instead of using a single TCP path to transfer data, we investigate how to let the application set up multiple TCP paths for the same application to achieve higher throughput. We evaluate these new mechanisms with experiments and compare them with existing approaches.

The Service Path Attribution Network (SPAN) framework provides a novel, user-centric, connectivity-based approach to ecosystem service assessment and valuation (ESAV). Ecosystem services are delivered to users through the simulated flow of some service medium (i.e., matter, energy, or information) from the ecosystems in which it originates (sources) to the people or assets which it affects (users). Along the way, the service medium may be absorbed by intervening landscape features (sinks) or captured by rival users. Crucially, the service medium is not itself an ecosystem service or benefit but rather an agnostic transport mechanism which establishes connectivity between sources, sinks, rival users, and nonrival users within a delimited study region. Each user then receives benefits or harm from the encountered service medium depending on their specific relationship with it. For example, if surface water is the simulated service medium, it may increase productivity at a hydropower plant but damage farmers in floodplains by drowning their crops. In the SPAN terminology, sources provide provisioning ecosystem services to users with a beneficial relationship with the service medium. Similarly, sinks provide preventive ecosystem services to users with a detrimental relationship with the service medium by reducing the amount flowing to their locations. Notably, within a single SPAN analysis, both sources and sinks may provide ecosystem services given a sufficiently heterogeneous pool of users. The results of a SPAN ESAV analysis are myriad, totalling up to 30 output maps for some services. Taken together, these maps tell the story of which sources provide services to which users, which sinks protect users from harm, which users compete for the same resources (and who wins), and how all of the sources, sinks, rival users, and nonrival users affect one another. Additionally, a SPAN simulation produces maps of the flow paths taken by the service medium from sources to users as well as where and by how much the flow strength is reduced by sinks. Studying these flow paths can help decision makers identify those locations at which management actions would be maximized or minimized depending on their specific development goals. A crowning achievement of this work is that for most ecosystem services the SPAN algorithm's complexity is guaranteed to be linear O(n) in both time and space with respect to the number of discrete locations analyzed. This makes it a viable option for high resolution landscape level ESAV studies using no more than commodity hardware. This dissertation explores the SPAN framework in depth, from its novel conceptual terminology and computational algorithms through to the intended interpretation of its results. In addition to describing the conceptual and mathematical components of this system in detail, this work also provides a complete Literate Program demonstrating the application of the SPAN framework to an assessment of the scenic beauty ecosystem service in Chittenden County, Vermont.

La thèse s'intéresse à la réalisation d'une architecture de Qualité de Service en rupture avec les approches classiques, permettant d'offrir des garanties de bout en bout pour le trafic. L'approche Flow-Aware Networking considère le trafic au niveau des flux applicatifs, pour lesquels des modèles de trafic simples mais robustes conduisent à une relation fondamentale entre ressources offertes par le réseau, la demande générée, et la performance obtenue. En particulier, l'architecture de routeur Cross-Protect propose la combinaison d'un ordonnancement fair queueing et d'un contrôle d'admission afin d'assurer de manière implicite la performance des flots streaming et élastique, sans nécessiter ni marquage ni procotole de signalisation. Dans un tel contexte, nous considérons le dimensionnement des buffers au sein des routeurs, l'introduction d'un ordonnancement de type fair queueing dans le réseau et son impact sur la performance des protocoles TCP, ainsi que la réalisation d'un algorithme de contrôle d'admission approprié. Pour terminer, une déclinaison de cette architecture pour le réseau d'accès est proposée
The thesis deals with the realization of a Quality of Service architecture that breaks with traditional approaches, and allows end-to-end performance guarantees for the traffic. The Flow-Aware Networking approach considers the traffic at the flow level, for which simple but robust traffic models lead to a fundamental relationship between the resources offered by the network, the demand and the obtained performance. In particular, the Cross-Protect router architecture proposes the combination of a fair queueing scheduler, and an admission control so as to implicitly ensure the performance of both streaming and elastic flows, without the need for any marking nor signalization protocol. In such a context, we consider the sizing of router buffers, the introduction of fair queueing scheduling inside the network and its impact on the performance of TCP protocols, as well as the realization of a suitable admission control algorithm. Finally, a declination of this architecture for the access network is proposed

The focus of this thesis is to study what and how information flows can be used to improve Demand responsive transport (DRT) systems by understanding potential users and how they could be willing to participate in DRT to a higher degree. The viewpoint of this thesis tends to lean towards a DRT service of a public transport type. This thesis studies users in relation to what interaction and information they perceive to be needed in dealing with a DRT service and the different pros and cons with various approaches. The study gathers information by performing adapted qualitative interviews with a select number of users between the ages of 20-35. The participants give their views on three DRT scenarios and reflect on DRT in general as a concept presented to them through a tangible mocked-up interactive prototype.  The thesis makes several distinct findings. The importance of pricing a DRT service correctly is vital to the users, as several participants in the study relied on pricing for decision-making. It also finds that the usage of zones as nomenclature is confusing to many users. The services must be dependable and punctual to both attract users, keep users, and build trust among the general populace. This study shows that DRT services could be a difficult concept to introduce to users. DRT could be introduced as a complement or as an alternative to conventional public transport. An important factor is a well-designed flow of information in the application to keep the user engaged and involved. It is shown that the usability of the application is a cornerstone for a theoretical DRT service to excel. Context is important where DRT and ridesharing would have a higher success rate. Nighttime in urban areas could be a niche market, due to the irregularity, delay, or interruption of regular public transport services at these hours.

Cервісні потоки (поряд з матеріальними) – оосновні потоки логістичного контуру підприємств готельно-ресторанного бізнесу. Сервісні потоки – потоки послуг (нематеріальної діяльності), які генеруються логістичної системою. Потік – динамічний процес; як об'єкт логістики він характеризується наступними основними параметрами: величиною, часом, траєкторією. З огляду на особливості готельно-ресторанного бізнесу, сервісний потік в цій сфері вважаємо за доцільне деталізувати на зв'язаний з: 1) власне послугами; 2) товарами-послугами; 3) сервісним відкликом. Таке розмежування дуже важливо з точки зору логістичного управління. Основними традиційними послугами готельно-ресторанного бізнесу є: 1) розміщення (проживання); 2) організація харчування. Також можуть надаватися інші традиційні послуги (які входять або не входять в базову вартість обслуговування. Товар-послуга – інноваційна технологія, сенс якої полягає в тому, що покупець (споживач, клієнт) одержує фізичний товар в супроводі послуги, пов'язаної з самим процесом продажу. Таким чином, суб'єктивне сприйняття послуги, пов'язаної з процесом продажу товару, саме по собі викликає попит, потребу клієнта в товарі-послузі. Для готельно-ресторанного бізнесу як для сфери дозвілля роль товарів-послуг в підвищенні конкурентоспроможності дуже значна. Логістичні потоки, пов'язані з виробництвом продуктів-послуг, характеризуються дуже тісною взаємодією між їх сервісної та матеріальної складової. Тому виділення таких потоків в логістичному контурі представляється нам цілком закономірним і обґрунтованим. Сервісний відгук – технологія реагування на індивідуальні запити клієнтів як перед продажем продукції (товарів, послуг), так і під час післяпродажного обслуговування. Складність, комплексність, розтягнутість сервісного відгуку в часі також вимагає виділення даного виду сервісних логістичних потоків в окрему категорію.

The specificity of the hotel and restaurant business is the combination of material production and the provision of services as the main activity of companies in this industry. The logistic’s circuit of the hotel and restaurant business is designed taking into account industry specifics and includes the main flows: material and service, as well as auxiliary flows: financial and informational. At the same time, unlike the traditional approach, we consider it expedient to regard the logistic circuit’s service flows of the hotel and restaurant business as the main flows, not auxiliary ones. Financial logistics is an innovative tool for managing cash flows that are directly related to the main flows of the logistics chain (in the case of the hotel and restaurant business, to material and service flows). The success and profitability of the company is largely due to the success of financial logistics management. External stakeholders (investors, lenders, etc.) should be able to take into account financial logistics efficiency when making financial decisions. The financial statements of the UNAS makes it possible to track only the moment values of the financial flows. At the same time, the main indicators by which conclusions can be drawn about the quality of financial logistics management are indicators of accounts receivables and accounts payables (and only such accounts receivables and accounts payables, which are directly related to material and service flows). Profitability of accounts receivable is one of the indicators of the «return on assets» group. This indicator is used much less frequently than the accounts receivable turnover indicators, but it can be very useful in analyzing the effectiveness of logistic financial management. In the framework of the financial logistics of the hotel and restaurant business, we consider only those receivables, that are directly related to material and service flows. In the case of the indicators of profitability and turnover of accounts receivable for products (goods, works, services), the acceleration of turnover is not always accompanied by an increase in the profitability of receivables, and vice versa. In addition, even in the case of coincidence of the trend of these values, the growth rates of the indicators may differ significantly. Both indicators – profitability and turnover of accounts receivables, associated with material and service flows – are indicators of the effectiveness of financial logistics in the field of receivables management. But, their isolated application can’t provide comprehensive information for making management decisions. A comparative analysis of the two considered indicators of the effectiveness of financial logistics – profitability and turnover of accounts receivable for products (goods, works, services) – allows us to empirically form an optimal policy of accounts receivable, which is characteristic of this particular sector of the economy.
Специфікою готельно-ресторанного бізнесу є поєднання матеріального виробництва і надання послуг в якості основної діяльності підприємств даної галузі. Логістичний контур підприємств готельно-ресторанного бізнесу конструюється з урахуванням вищеописаної галузевої специфіки і включає в себе основні потоки: матеріальні та сервісні, а також допоміжні потоки: фінансові та інформаційні. При цьому, на відміну від традиційного підходу, вважаємо за доцільне сервісні потоки логістичного контуру підприємств готельно-ресторанного бізнесу відносити саме до числа основних потоків, а не допоміжних. Фінансова логістика – інноваційний інструмент управління грошовими потоками, безпосередньо пов'язаними з основними потоками логістичного контуру (в разі готельно-ресторанного бізнесу – з матеріальними і сервісними потоками). Успішність і прибутковість компанії багато в чому пов'язана з успішністю управління фінансовою логістикою. Зовнішні зацікавлені особи (інвестори, кредитори і т. д.) повинні мати можливість при прийнятті фінансових рішень керуватися в тому числі і міркуваннями, пов'язаними з ефективністю фінансової логістики. Фінансова звітність НП(С)БО України дає можливість відстежити тільки моментні значення фінансових потоків. При цьому головними показниками, за якими можна зробити висновки про якість управління фінансовою логістикою, є показники дебіторської та кредиторської заборгованості (причому тільки такої дебіторської та кредиторської заборгованості, яка безпосередньо пов'язана з матеріальними і сервісними потоками). Рентабельність дебіторської заборгованості – один з показників групи "рентабельність активів". Даний показник використовується значно рідше показників оборотності дебіторської заборгованості, але він може бути вельми корисним при аналізі ефективності логістичного фінансового управління. В рамках фінансової логістики готельно-ресторанного бізнесу розглядаємо тільки ту дебіторську заборгованість, яка безпосередньо пов'язана з матеріальними і сервісними потоками. У разі аналізованих нами показників рентабельності та оборотності дебіторської заборгованості, далеко не завжди прискорення оборотності супроводжується зростанням рентабельності дебіторської заборгованості, і навпаки. Крім того, навіть у разі збігу тренда цих величин темпи зростання показників можуть істотно відрізнятися. Обидва показники – і рентабельність, і оборотність дебіторської заборгованості, пов'язаної з матеріальними і сервісними потоками – є показниками ефективності фінансової логістики в сфері управління дебіторською заборгованістю. Однак їх ізольоване застосування не може надати вичерпну інформацію для прийняття управлінських рішень. Порівняльний аналіз двох розглянутих індикаторів ефективності фінансової логістики – рентабельності і оборотності дебіторської заборгованості за продукцію (товари, роботи, послуги) – дозволяє емпіричним шляхом сформувати оптимальну політику дебіторської заборгованості, характерну саме для даної галузі економіки.

This thesis aims to study whether cash flow ratios can predict corporate financial distress in Sweden by employing multiple discriminant analysis. It was inspired by the Altman Z-score, which was adjusted for this aim. This study adopted a positivist epistemology and objectivist ontology. The research approach taken was a deductive one which employed quantitative methods in testing the hypotheses developed. The hypotheses were tested through means of accuracy and the Independent Samples Test. In order to identify financial distress a proxyratio was adopted. This proxy was the operating cash flow ratio. The sample consisted of 227 firms in total within the retail- and service industries. The time period covered 2000-2013. It was found that the proxy was unable to separate firms into distressed and nondistressedgroups, but rather classified all firms as distressed. Furthermore, the other ratios also failed to do any classification. Therefore, what the question that this study set out to answer came to the conclusion; cash flow ratios cannot predict corporate financial distress for retail and service companies in Sweden.

Si l'on en croit les tendances actuelles de la croissance du trafic Internet, la demande en bande passante dépassera la capacité du système dans quelques années. Cela pose un certain nombre de problèmes, parmi lesquels la possibilité d'apporter de la qualité de service (QdS) au trafic utilisateur, la méthode traditionnelle de sur-approvisionnement n'étant plus envisageable. Dans ce contexte, l'approche flow-aware networking (FAN), proposée comme alternative aux architectures habituelles IntServ et DiffServ, emploie une différentiation de service implicite en utilisant des mécanismes tels que le contrôle d'admission, l'ordonnancement, le routage, etc. , au niveau des flux, un flux étant un ensemble de paquets possédant le même groupe d'identifiants et localisés dans le temps. Par définition, l'approche flow-aware networking est bloquante en ce qui concerne les flux. La politique de contrôle d'admission rejette les nouveaux flux selon les conditions du réseau. On définit un réseau basé flux (flow-based networking) comme une version généralisée de l'approche FAN, non restreinte à un des mécanismes de QdS y étant défini, et surtout sans blocage de flux. Le but est d'être flexible en combinant différents mécanismes basés sur les flux, proposés indépendamment, pour l'ordonnancement, la gestion des tampons, le contrôle de la congestion, le routage, la comptabilité, l'échantillonage, etc. Dans un tel réseau, la performance peut être basée sur des métriques du niveau des flux. Following the current trends of the Internet traffic growth, the traffic demand is predicted to cross the system capacity in a few years. This poses a number of challenges, one of them being the ability to provide quality-of-service (QoS) to user traffic, as the conventional way of providing QoS by over-provisioning will not be feasible. In this context, the `flow-aware networking' (FAN) approach, proposed as an alternative to the well-known IntServ and DiffServ architectures, employs implicit service differentiation using mechanisms such as admission control, scheduling, routing, etc. , at the level of flows, where a flow is a flight of packets with the same set of identifiers localized in time. As per definition, the flow-aware networking approach is `blocking' in design, with respect to flows. The admission control policy rejects new flows depending on the network conditions. We define `flow-based networking' as a generalized version of the FAN approach, without restricting to any particular QoS-providing mechanism defined there, but more importantly with no blocking of flows. The idea is to have the flexibility in combining different flow-based mechanisms, proposed independently, for scheduling, buffer management, congestion control, routing, accounting, sampling, etc. The performance in such a network can be be based on flow-level metrics. This is in line with the utility of end-users where, say, the delay of small flows, throughput of large flows, instantaneous rate of streaming traffic, etc. , are most often more important than packet-level QoS metrics

Volvo Construction Equipment is considering applying modular design to their organisation in order to constrain the growing intangible information and parts assortment within the company, and as well to enable a rearrangement of production, sales and logistics in the near future of organisational growth and industrial footprint. Hence the purpose of this thesis is to investigate the opportunities and threats of implementing modular design to Volvo Construction Equipment. The analysis is scoped on the generic aspects of modularity and the organisational weaknesses within Volvo CE towards implementing a new organisational structure, product design and production with modular design. Modularity enables the company to move towards decupling the constraints of tangible sales and provides an opportunity to offer Product Service Systems as a Total Solution for each individual customer. By implementing the authors common knowledge and education within engineering revolving tangible and intangible products and services alongside with innovation, together with informal interviews of stakeholders, the results of the thesis was reached. The analysis of the results was reached by implementing Design Research Methodology to the structure of the thesis, research method and interviews made. There is a distinct opportunity for Volvo CE to implement modular design since the informational flows, innovation, research and development is enhanced by a correct modular design. Although there is a distinct risk in changing a well-established product design, development process and organisational structure, the opportunities to create a product service system strategy and to re harvest and recycle value within the company with modularity outweigh the risk. Incomprehension of how to optimize a modular design may amplify the reasons why Volvo CE is considering revising their products and organisation with modularity, thus the authors recommend implementing a generic and specific education in modularity within Volvo CE to ensure a shared language of modularity and enhance traceability of the development within the company. In order to enhance the organisational velocity around development, the authors also recommend a new computer environment which enables the different disciplines of engineering and marketing to modularise the product, services and processes while keeping the comprehension of the subject close to hand. This enables the organisational structure to change and improve towards modular deployment and to further accelerate Volvo CE’s growth, market share and revenue.

Resumo: O presente trabalho propõe um esquema de controle adaptativo de ?uxos baseado no modelo fuzzy TSK. Neste esquema de controle, o modelo fuzzy TSK é utilizado para prever adaptativamente o tamanho da ?la no buffer em um enlace. Com o objetivo de ajustar dinamicamente os parâmetros do modelo fuzzy TSK, propomos um algoritmo de treinamento adaptativo. Na primeira etapa do algoritmo de treinamento proposto, os parâmetros das partes premissas e das partes conseqüentes do modelo são obtidos. A segunda etapa consiste de um algoritmo de re?namento dos parâmetros do modelo baseado em gradiente descendente. A e?ciência do preditor proposto é avaliada através da comparação com outros preditores adaptativos fazendo uso de traços de tráfego reais. A partir dos parâmetros do modelo fuzzy TSK, derivamos uma expressão para a taxa da fonte controlável a qual minimiza a variância do tamanho de ?la no buffer. O controle de congestionamento proposto é então aplicado em diferentes cenários de rede com vários nós. Comparações realizadas com outros métodos de controle de congestionamento demonstram que o controle de congestionamento proposto obtém menores taxas de perdas e consegue de fato manter o tamanho da ?la no buffer abaixo do valor desejado
Abstract: The present work proposes a adaptive control of traf?c ?ows based in the TSK fuzzy model. In this control, the TSK fuzzy model is used to predict in a manner adaptive the buffer length in one output link. With the objective of dynamically adjust the parameters of the TSK fuzzy model, we proposed a adaptive training algorithm. In the ?rst stage of the proposed training algorithm, the parameters of the premise and consequent parts of the model are obtained. The second stage consists of a re?ning algorithm of the parameters based in descent gradient. The effectiveness of the proposed predictor is evaluated through comparison with other adaptive predictors by using real network traf?c traces. With the parameters of the TSK model, we derive an expression for the controllable source rate which minimizes the variance of the buffer length. The proposed congestion control is applied in different network sceneries with several nodes. Comparison made with others congestion control methods demonstrates that the proposed congestion control obtain lesser loss rate and gets in fact to keep the buffer length below of the reference level

Les travaux présentés dans cette thèse concernent la qualité de service dans les réseaux à commutation de paquets de grande dimension et plus spécifiquement la garantie de débit pour les flots TCP. L'architecture à différenciation de services, définie par l'IETF, dite DiffServ s'articule autour de trois services : le service garanti, le service assuré et le service par défaut dit "au mieux". Le service assuré a été élaboré pour servir les flots à caractère élastique comme les flots TCP. Cependant, des problèmes subsistent en ce qui concerne cette garantie de débit pour ce type de flots dans ce service. Ces dernières années, un effort important a été fait pour améliorer les mécanismes d'ordonnancement, de classification et de rejet au sein des routeurs afin qu'ils répondent au mieux à la spécification du service assuré. Malheureusement, leurs choix de conception et la complexité de leur mise en oeuvre est très souvent un frein à leur déploiement dans un Internet réel. Dans cette thèse, nous proposons une solution originale de conditionnement des flots TCP permettant de garantir un débit à la fois pour des flots individuels et des groupes de flots. Cette solution fonctionne quelquesoit le facteur d'echelle.

This thesis is about information flow and customer service at Besam Production AB´s transport department. The focus of this thesis is to study the daily routines at the transport department regarding information flow and customer service both to the customers and to the forwarder. And how the information flow can be changed to be more efficient, save time and how to make this to an advantage against theirs competitors, is also studied. Like vise the customer service that Besam Production today is offering their customer at the transportation point and witch improvements that can be carried out. In the chapter where the current situation the daily work and situation for the transport department is addressed. Especially the situations regarding information flow to and from the daily used forwarder, Geologistics, and the information flow that today exist between the transport department and daughter-companies/end customers. In this chapter it’s also addressed witch kind of customer service that Besam Production AB today offers with their transport and what kind of customer service that Besam Production AB today is receiving bfrom their forwarder. In the literature study different forms of information flow and the importance of the information quality and contains, is studied. In this chapter different forms of customer service and how important the opinion of the customer is, is also studied. The result of the analysis between the chapters, current situation and literature study is for show in the conclusions’ chapter. The most important results in this thesis indicate that major improvements can be carried out within the transportation department in both areas. An example of this is that the greatest information flow today is transferred with fax. If the information flow instead was transferred electronically, the time saved could be used for customer service that today is not developed enough.
Detta examensarbete handlar om informationsflöden och kundservice vid Besam Production AB:s utskeppningsavdelning. Syftet med detta arbete är att se över de nuvarande rutinerna som idag finns på utskeppningsavdelning vad gäller informationsflöde vid de dagliga transportbokningarna både till transportören och till kunderna. Hur informationsflödet här kan förändras för att kunna bli mer effektivt, spara tid och bli en konkurrensfördel för Besam Production AB undersöks också. Även en granskning av den kundservice som Besam Production AB erbjuder vid transporter till sina kunder granskas och hur denna skulle kunna förbättras ses också över. I nulägesbeskrivningen tas det upp hur nuläget för skeppningsavdelningen ser ut både vad gäller informationsflöde till och från den transportör som används till de dagliga transporterna Geologistics och det informationsflöde som idag finns mellan utskeppningsavdelningen och dotterbolagen/slutkunderna. Det tas även i nulägesbeskrivningen upp vilken form av kundservice som i dagens läge ges vid transporter från Besam Production AB och vilken kundservice som Besam erhåller från Geologistics. I litteraturstudien studeras olika former av informationsflöde och vikten av informationsinnehållet. Här tas även upp olika former av kundservice vid transporter och hur viktigt det är för ett företag att ha rätt syn på sina kunder och hur viktigt det är att vara medveten om vad det egentligen kunderna vill ha vad gäller service. Resultatet av analysen mellan nulägesbeskrivningen och litteraturstudien finns i slutsatserna. De viktigaste resultaten som har framkommit genom detta arbete indikerar att genomgående förbättringar kan ske på utskeppningsavdelningen både vad gäller informationsflöden och kundservice. Som exempel på detta kan nämnas att det största informationsflödet idag sker med hjälp av fax. Om detta istället genomföras på elektronisk väg, skulle mer tid kunna frigöras som kan användas till den idag ej tillräckligt utvecklade kundservicen.

Este trabalho é um estudo sobre o desempenho da arquitetura Diffserv proposta para permitir oferecimento de serviços com QoS na Internet. A ênfase do estudo é no desempenho de fluxos que utilizam o protocolo de transporte TCP.Inicialmente são revistos conceitos básicos, características do protocolo TCP em suas diferentes versões e os principais mecanismos de controle de tráfego. É feita, então, uma modelagem da arquitetura Diffserv visando a avaliação de seu desempenho. Procurou-se resumir os principais resultados sobre desempenho desta arquitetura disponíveis na Literatura e estabelecer um modelo de referência que permitisse a realização de avaliações específicas. Este modelo de oferecimento de serviços com QoS por um provedor é avaliado através do programa de simulação NS. Através de diversos casos analisados são feitas comparações de desempenho de fluxos TCP em diferentes classes de serviço,levando em conta o tipo de implementação e os mecanismos de encaminhamento de pacotes.
This work presents a Diffserv architecture study to provide QoS in the Internet. The emphasis of the study is on the performance of flows that use the TCP transport protocol. Initially, basic concepts, TCP characteristics in its different versions and the main mechanisms of traffic control are reviewed. A modeling of the Diffserv architecture, aiming at the performance evaluation, is made. The main results on performance of this architecture in the available Literature were summarized and a reference model that allowed the accomplishment of specific evaluations was proposed. This model of QoS offering for a provider is evaluated through the NS simulation program. Through several analyzed cases, comparisons performance of TCP flows are made in different classes of service, talking into account the type of TCP implementation and the mechanisms of packet forwarding.

While rigorous, mathematical techniques are helpful for improving the quality of software engineering, the threshold of learning and adapting formal methods keep many practitioners from embracing these kinds of approaches. We present the emph{Arctis Analyzer}, a tool for supporting a developer by formal methods, without the developer having to understand any formal language. To realize this tool, we developed an extensible analysis framework that is used by the analyzer to assist the user when problems are encountered. We combine model checking with syntactic analysis so as to provide a developer with not only symptoms, but also diagnoses and fixes for the underlying flaws in the specifications. Our work is based in SPACE, an approach for specifying reactive and distributed systems. In this approach, systems are composed of service specifications as opposed to traditional component specifications. Services are expressed by UML collaborations and activities representing their structure and behavior, respectively. This work focuses on analyzing the behavior of the services, hence on the UML activities. The analyzer transforms the UML models into tlaplus{}, the language of the Temporal Logic of Actions, TLA. It also generates TLA theorems for a number of properties that should hold. In order to detect property violations, the tool uses the model checker TLC to check the entire state space of the formal specifications. The analyzer can visualize any error traces from TLC in terms of the graphical model that the user is working on. This thesis presents the analyzer and how it is implemented. It also presents the analysis framework detailing twelve theorems, eleven symptoms, seven diagnoses and nine fixes. Out of these, ten theorems, six symptoms, three diagnoses and two fixes, have been implemented in the analyzer as proof of concept. The thesis also contains a number of examples showing the use of the analyzer within Arctis.

De nos jours, nous assistons à l’émigration du Web de données vers le Web orienté services. L’amélioration des capacités et fonctionnalités des moteurs actuels de recherche sur le Web, par des techniques efficaces de recherche et de sélection de services, devient de plus en plus importante. Dans cette thèse, dans un premier temps, nous proposons un cadre de composition de services Web en tenant compte des préférences utilisateurs. Le modèle fondé sur la théorie des ensembles flous est utilisé pour représenter les préférences. L’approche proposée est basée sur une version étendue du principe d’optimalité de Pareto. Ainsi, la notion des top-k compositions est introduite pour répondre à des requêtes utilisateurs de nature complexe. Afin d’améliorer la qualité de l’ensemble des compositions retournées, un second filtre est appliqué à cet ensemble en utilisant le critère de diversité. Dans un second temps, nous avons considéré le problème de la sélection des services Web en présence de préférences émanant de plusieurs utilisateurs. Une nouvelle variante, appelée Skyline de services à majorité, du Skyline de services traditionnel est défini. Ce qui permet aux utilisateurs de prendre une décision « démocratique » conduisant aux services les plus appropriés. Un autre type de Skyline de services est également discuté dans cette thèse. Il s’agit d’un Skyline de Services de nature graduelle et se fonde sur une relation de dominance floue. Comme résultat, les services Web présentant un meilleur compromis entre les paramètres QoS sont retenus, alors que les services Web ayant un mauvais compromis entre les QoS sont exclus. Finalement, nous avons aussi absorbé le cas où les QoS décrivant les services Web sont entachés d’incertitude. La théorie des possibilités est utilisée comme modèle de l’incertain. As we move from a Web of data to a Web of services, enhancing the capabilities of the current Web search engines with effective and efficient techniques for Web services retrieval and selection becomes an important issue. In this dissertation, we present a framework that identifies the top-k Web service compositions according to the user fuzzy preferences based on a fuzzification of the Pareto dominance relationship. We also provide a method to improve the diversity of the top-k compositions. An efficient algorithm is proposed for each method. We evaluate our approach through a set of thorough experiments. After that, we consider the problem of Web service selection under multiple users preferences. We introduce a novel concept called majority service skyline for this problem based on the majority rule. This allows users to make a “democratic” decision on which Web services are the most appropriate. We develop a suitable algorithm for computing the majority service skyline. We conduct a set of thorough experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of the majority service skyline and the efficiency of our algorithm. We then propose the notion of α-dominant service skyline based on a fuzzification of Pareto dominance relationship, which allows the inclusion of Web services with a good compromise between QoS parameters, and the exclusion ofWeb services with a bad compromise between QoS parameters. We develop an efficient algorithm based on R-Tree index structure for computing efficiently the α-dominant service skyline. We evaluate the effectiveness of the α-dominant service skyline and the efficiency of the algorithm through a set of experiments. Finally, we consider the uncertainty of the QoS delivered by Web services. We model each uncertain QoS attribute using a possibility distribution, and we introduce the notion of pos-dominant service skyline and the notion of nec-dominant service skyline that facilitates users to select their desired Web services with the presence of uncertainty in their QoS. We then developappropriate algorithms to efficiently compute both the pos-dominant service skyline and nec-dominant service skyline. We conduct extensive sets of experiments to evaluate the proposed service skyline extensions and algorithms

This research analyzes the informational flow of the Customer Service Channels - CSC (Canais de Atendimento ao Cliente - CAC) of the Brazilian Post and Telegraph Company (Empresa de Correios e Telégrafos), Regional Board of Directors of Paraíba ECT/DR-PB by means of the perspective of information management (IM), questioning how the information of this flow influence the formulation of tactic actions for decision-making. The study aims at analyzing the informational flow of the CSCs of the Brazilian Post and Telegraph Company in its Regional Board of Directors of Paraíba. It is understood that the informational flow of the CSCs, if treated in a systematized way, is presented as valuable tool for the qualitative diagnosis of the offered services, besides attaining the legal requirements and fulfilling an evaluation in the processes of the provided products. Planning future actions and implementing corrective ones are the reasons that justify the study. With reference to the objectives, the methodology is classified as descriptive with quanti-qualitative approach of the case study type. In regard to data collection instruments, the study uses the guided interview and the documental analysis, categorizing data according to content analysis for interpreting them afterwards. As result of the study, it was observed that its aim is accomplished and by the indicators showed, the process seems to be effective. It is disseminated and understood by managers and operators as relationship instrument with the market and clients as well as the management. In spite of this, the potential of the data generated by the system, as its positive residual effect, does not produce direct effects or managerial actions for the continuous improvement of the organization and its final processes, especially the ones in medium and long term, either resulting from limiting factors of the process architecture and their control indicator, or due to limiting factors inherent to managers. From this viewpoint results the loss of competitiveness and the use of other costly and less efficient information sources, remaining the essential function of each manager, the one related to decision-making, submitted to results not always favorable to the company. In this context, We conclude that the management of CSC data flow provides information relative to diagnosis of the offered services, besides indicating the Regional Board of Directors positioning with regard to the company as a whole. It can be used for formulating tactic actions for decision-making and for continuous evaluation of management and organizational performance.
Analisa o fluxo informacional dos Canais de Atendimento ao Cliente (CAC) da Empresa de Correios e Telégrafos, Diretoria Regional da Paraíba ECT/DR-PB, pela perspectiva da gestão da informação (GI), questionando como as informações desse fluxo influenciam na formulação de ações táticas para a tomada de decisão. O estudo tem como objetivo geral analisar o fluxo informacional dos CAC da Empresa Brasileira de Correios e Telégrafos em sua Diretoria Regional da Paraíba. Compreende-se que o fluxo informacional dos CAC, se tratado de forma sistematizada, apresenta-se como ferramenta valiosa para o diagnóstico qualitativo dos serviços prestados, além de atingir as exigências legais e fazer uma autoavaliação nos processos dos produtos ofertados. Planejar ações futuras e implementar ações corretivas nos processos são as razões que justificam o estudo. Quanto aos objetivos, a metodologia classifica-se em descritiva com abordagem quanti-qualitativa do tipo estudo de caso. Quanto aos instrumentos de coleta de dados, utiliza a entrevista orientada e a análise documental, categorizando as informações segundo a análise de conteúdo para posteriormente interpretá-las. Como resultado do estudo, observou-se que a sua finalidade está atendida e pelos indicadores demonstrados o processo se mostra eficaz por si só, sendo disseminado e compreendido pelos gestores e operadores como ferramenta de relacionamento com o mercado e clientes bem como de gestão. Apesar disso, restou que o potencial das informações geradas pelo sistema, como efeito residual positivo deste, não produz efeitos diretos ou ações gerenciais para a melhoria contínua da organização e dos seus processos finalísticos, sobretudo os de médio e longo prazo, seja em decorrência de fatores limitantes da arquitetura do processo e do seu indicador de controle, seja em razão de fatores limitantes inerentes aos gestores. Dessa compreensão resultam a perda de competitividade e a utilização de outras fontes de informação mais onerosas e menos eficientes, permanecendo a função primordial de cada gestor, a de tomada de decisão, submetida a resultados nem sempre favoráveis à organização. Neste contexto, concluímos que o gerenciamento do fluxo de informações do CAC proporciona informações relativas ao diagnóstico dos serviços prestados, além de indicar o posicionamento da DR frente à Empresa como um todo, podendo ser utilizado para formulação de ações táticas para tomada de decisão e para a avaliação constante da gestão e desempenho organizacional.

Service-oriented computing is a popular technology that facilitates the development of large-scale distributed systems. However, the modular composition and flexible coordination of such applications still remains challenging for the following reasons: 1) the services are provided as loosely coupled black boxes that only expose their interfaces to the environment; 2) interacting services are not usually known in advance: web services are dynamically chosen to fulfil certain roles and are often replaced by services with a similar functionality; 3) the nature of the service-based application is decentralised. Loose coupling of web services is often lost when it comes to the construction of an application from services. The reason is that the object-oriented paradigm, which is widely used in the implementation of web services, does not provide a mechanism for service interface self-tuning. As a result, it negatively impacts upon the interoperability of web services. In this dissertation we present a formal method for automatic service configuration in the presence of subtyping, polymorphism, and flow inheritance. This is a challenging problem. On the one hand, the interface description language must be flexible enough to maintain service compatibility in various contexts without any modification to the service itself. On the other hand, the composition of interfaces in a distributed environment must be provably consistent. Our method is based on constraint satisfaction and Boolean satisfiability. First, we define a language for specifying service interfaces in a generic form, which is compatible with a variety of contexts. The language provides support for parametric polymorphism, Boolean variables, which are used to control dependencies between any elements of interface collections, and flow inheritance using extensible records and variants. We implemented the method as a constraint satisfaction solver. In addition to this, we present a protocol for interface configuration. It specifies a sequence of steps that leads to the generation of context-specific service libraries from generic services. Furthermore, we developed a toolchain that performs a complete interface configuration for services written in C++. We integrated support for flexible interface objects (i.e. objects that can be transferred in the application along with their structural description). Although the protocol relies solely on interfaces and does not take behaviour concerns into account, it is capable of finding discrepancies between input and output interfaces for simple stateful services, which only perform message synchronisation. Two running examples (a three buyers use-case and an image processing application) are used along the way to illustrate our approach. Our results seem to be useful for service providers that run their services in the cloud. The reason is twofold. Firstly, interfaces and the code behind them can be generic as long as they are sufficiently configurable. No communication between service designers is necessary in order to ensure consistency in the design. Instead, the interface correspondence in the application is ensured by the constraint satisfaction algorithm, which we have already designed. Secondly, the configuration and compilation of every service are separated from the rest of the application. This prevents source code leaks in proprietary software which is running in the cloud.

Food service establishments that use onsite wastewater treatment systems are experiencing hydraulic and organic overloading of pretreatment systems and/or drain fields. Design guidelines for these systems are typically provided in State regulations and based on residential hydraulic applications. For the purposes of this research, hydraulic loading indicates the daily flow of water directed to the wastewater system. Organic loading refers to the composition of the wastewater as quantified by five-day biochemical oxygen demand (BOD5), total fats, oils and greases (FOG), and total suspended solids (TSS). The first part of this study included an analysis of the central tendencies of analytical data of four wastewater parameters from 28 restaurants representing a broad spectrum of restaurant types. Field sampling consisted of two sets of grab samples collected from each restaurant for six consecutive days at approximately the same time each day. These sets were collected approximately two weeks apart. The numerical data included BOD5, FOG, and TSS. The fourth parameter evaluated was daily flow. Data exploration and statistical analyses of the numerical data from the 28 restaurants was performed with the standard gamma probability distribution model in ExcelTM and used to determine inferences of the analytical data. The analysis shows higher hydraulic and organic values for restaurant wastewater than residential wastewater. The second part of the study included a statistical analysis of restaurant management practices and primary cuisine types and their influence on BOD5, FOG, TSS, and daily flow to determine if management practices and/or cuisine types may be influencing wastewater composition and flow. A self-reporting survey was utilized to collect management practice and cuisine type information. Survey response information and analytical data were entered into an ExcelTM spreadsheet and subsequently incorporated into SASTM statistical software for statistical analysis. Analysis indicated that the number of seats in a restaurant, use of self-serve salad bars, and primary cuisine types are statistically significant indicators of wastewater characteristics.

This I doctoral thesis examines a specific aspect of Knowledge Management (KM). This is knowledge sharing and the knowledge relationships that exist in knowledge flows through processes in organisations. It focuses on cultural influences on knowledge flows through knowledge coordinating mechanisms. This study is conducted through qualitative methods. The study involves immersion and snow ball sampling interviews to uncover the forms, perceptions and cultural factors influencing the operation of knowledge flows. The interpretive approach makes possible a deeper examination of perceptions of knowledge on the operation of a process from the perspective of those involved, and their perceptions of the other agents involved. Human Resources (HR) Shared Services are a means to address concerns surrounding qUality and cost in transactional oriented HR services. This study compares internal HR Shared Services and externally outsourced models. They are currently one of the most lucrative and popular means of outsourcing aspects of the firm. As a process they incorporate a broad range of knowledge flows that can be considered as reasonably stand alone. The hierarchical construction of HR Shared Services makes them representative of many processes within organisations from which generalisations can be drawn. This study argues in favour of KM being applicable to hierarchically oriented organisations and not just suitable for specific knowledge focused organisations. Knowledge flows are seen as the means for organisations to focus their corporate cultures to facilitate knowledge sharing and exchange. In this case it provides more relevant HR advice through better use of resources and improves the quality of the prOduct. It facilitates sustained competitive advantage in the use of combining resources of organisations in unique ways. It builds on a theoretical foundation of Cultural means of coordinating knowledge and by considering perceptions of agents in knowledge studies. It also considers how conflicts can be resolved and the issue of knowledge hierarchies.

In an information system which includes plenty of information services, we are always seeking a solution to enhance efficiency and reusability. Emergency medical service system is a classic information system using application integration in which the requirement of information flow transmissions is extremely necessary. We should always ensure this system is running in best condition with highest efficiency and reusability since the efficiency in the system directly affects human life.

The aim of this thesis is to analysis emergency medical system in both qualitative and quantitative ways. Another aim of this thesis is to suggest a method to judge the information flow through the analysis for the system efficiency and the correlations between information flow traffic and system applications.

The result is that system is a main platform integrated five information services. Each of them provides different unattached functions while they are all based on unified information resources. The system efficiency can be judged by a method called Performance Evaluation, the correlation can be judged by multi-factorial analysis of variance method.

When Visma Spcs had an incident where invoices sent from Visma to Visma's customers were duplicated and the service meant to receive the transactions did not handle the duplicates properly. They decided that the receiver service was to be upgraded to prevent this incident from happening again, as well as fixing some other issues the service had had. Incidents like this one must be investigated and a solution must be implemented to decrease the likelihood that similar incidents will happen again. In this report, the reader will see examples on how this can be handled and the benefits of tackling technical debt, along with how much more complicated the solutions might get if the service is not allowed to be taken offline.

Cette thèse met en lumière l'importance d'assurer une qualité de service au trafic dit élastique pour préserver l'efficacité du réseau. Le trafic élastique correspond au trafic contrôle par tcp et constitue la majorité du trafic internet. Nous étudions des mécanismes de contrôle pour assurer la qualité de service d'un tel trafic dans le cadre d'une approche orientée flot. En effet, la prédiction des performances du réseau nécessite une bonne compréhension des propriétés stochastiques du trafic ip en vue de l'élaboration d'un modèle. Il s'avère que la caractérisation du trafic à l'échelle du flot est à la fois commode et appropriée pour prédire la qualité de service du trafic élastique. Un flot élastique correspond au transfert d'un document (fichier, page web, etc. ). Le débit réalise, ou de manière équivalente le temps nécessaire pour accomplir ce transfert, constitue le paramètre de qualité de service principal des flots élastiques. Dans notre approche orientée flot, la qualité de service est assurée par un dimensionnement adéquat conjointement avec une stratégie de routage adaptatif a l'échelle du flot. En cas de surcharge, un mécanisme de contrôle d'admission permet de préserver la stabilité du réseau et, par conséquent, son efficacité. Le routage et le contrôle d'admission se basent sur la détection au vol de nouveaux flots élastiques et ne nécessitent pas de signalisation. La métrique utilisée pour le routage et le contrôle d'admission est le débit qu'un nouveau flot élastique est susceptible d'obtenir. Nous avons étudié le choix optimal d'un seuil d'admission permettant un contrôle efficace en cas de surcharge et minimisant le blocage dans des conditions de charge normale. En outre, il est possible de réaliser un contrôle d'admission sélectif favorisant l'admission d'une classe de trafic prioritaire grâce à l'emploi de seuils d'admission différents par classe de trafic. Nous avons comparé par simulation les performances de plusieurs algorithmes de routage adaptatif dans le but d'identifier une stratégie efficace pour les flots élastiques. Parmi ces algorithmes figure un nouvel algorithme baptise maximum utility. Cette étude nous a également permis d'analyser l'impact du contrôle d'admission sur les performances d'algorithmes connus tels que widest-shortest path. L'importance de préserver les ressources du réseau à forte charge nous conduit à proposer l'application de l'équivalent logique de la technique de réservation de circuits pour le routage des flots élastiques. L'intégration de cette technique aux deux algorithmes précités améliore significativement leurs performances.

Customer experience is one strategic option for organisations wishing to differentiate their service offering. Little research however has been conducted to explain how service design and management practices influence customer experience in non-hedonic contexts, settings in which the objectives for the design of the delivery system are not experiential. The objective of this research is to address this gap in academic knowledge. The conceptual framework used as the basis of the empirical research demonstrates how four experience mechanism constructs, incorporated into the design of the delivery system, facilitate the customer’s involvement in the delivery of the service and influence how they perceive the experience that emerges as a result. To explore the relevance of the framework two case studies were conducted. Data was collected principally through interviews with employees working at various levels throughout the organisations hierarchy and with customers. Observations and secondary source material also provided additional evidence. The thesis provides an original and distinct contribution to knowledge, through three main findings: Firstly, the research found evidence that the conceptual framework was relevant to the design of the delivery system and in customers’ perception of their experience. This challenges assumptions in existing literature that experience might not be a relevant design consideration in non-hedonic service contexts. Secondly, the findings provide a point of distinction between experiences in hedonic and non-hedonic contexts. Finally the study extends experience design theory demonstrating how in the contexts studied, the experience mechanisms act as antecedents for the experience a customer perceives. Whilst conducting only two case studies limits the impact of the findings, the propositions formulated to explain the key themes identified, can be used as a vehicle through which future quantitative research can be carried out, therefore extending the generalisability of the study beyond the contexts studied.

Demand for air transportation is increasing every year very sharply, that is why passenger flow is growing as well. But anyway the service at the airport must be fast and effective. So the necessity of increasing passenger flow becomes more and more significant every day. Especially, it is relevant for Ukrainian airports, as new airlines are implementing, but the area for passenger service is not expanding, that is why methods to provide prompt service needs to be accepted and executed. The objective of diploma work is increasing of passenger flow at airport. The object of our investigation is Boryspil International Airport. Tasks: • To get acquainted with current passenger service at the airport: check-in, border, customs and security controls. • Pros and cons of actual system and problems that are appearing now. • Main recommendations how to increase passenger flow in Boryspil airport. To execute diploma’s tasks we have to follow such steps: • Analyze international documents that regulate passenger procedures in airports. • Analyze national documents, which regulate passenger service in Ukrainian airports. • Consider number of passenger serving per unit of time and analyze this amount. • To sum up all possible improvements regarding passenger flow Boryspil International Airport.
