Повний текст джерелаThe recent emergence of social media and online retailing become increasingly important and continue to grow. More and more people use social media to share their real life to the digital world, at the same time, browse the virtual Internet to buy the real products. In the process, a huge amount of data is generated and we investigate the data and crowdsourcing for areas of the public transportation and last-mile delivery for online orders in the perspective of data analytics and operations optimization.
We first focus on the transit flow prediction by crowdsourced social media data. Subway flow prediction under event occurrences is a very challenging task in transit system management. To tackle this challenge, we leverage the power of social media data to extract features from crowdsourced content to gather the public travel willingness. We propose a parametric and convex optimization-based approach to combine the least squares of linear regression and the prediction results of the seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average model to accurately predict the NYC subway flow under sporting events.
The second part of the thesis focuses on the last-mile same-day delivery with store fulfillment problem (SDD-SFP) using real-world data from a national retailer. We propose that retailers can take advantage of their physical local stores to ful?ll nearby online orders in a direct-to-consumer fashion during the same day that order placed. Optimization models and solution algorithms are developed to determine store selections, fleet-sizing for transportation, and inventory in terms of supply chain seasonal planning. In order to solve large-scale SDD-SFP with real-world datasets, we create an accelerated Benders decomposition approach that integrates the outer search tree and local branching based on mixed-integer programming and develops optimization-based algorithms for initial lifting constraints.
In the last part of the dissertation, we drill down SDD-SFP from supply chain planning to supply chain operation level. The aim is to create an optimal exact order ful?llment plan to specify how to deliver each received customer order. We adopt crowdsourced shipping, which utilizes the extra capacity of the vehicles from private drivers to execute delivery jobs on trips, as delivery options, and define the problem as same-day delivery with crowdshipping and store fulfillment (SDD-CSF). we develop a set of exact solution approaches for order fulfillment in form of rolling horizon framework. It repeatedly solves a series of order assignment and delivery plan problem following the timeline in order to construct an optimal fulfillment plan from local stores. Results from numerical experiments derived from real sale data of a retailer along with algorithmic computational results are presented.

Повний текст джерелаPickup and Delivery Problems (PDP:er) utgör en grupp av Vehicle Routing Problems (VRP:er) som består av att hitta de optimala rutterna för en fordonsflotta för att leverera beställningar från en uppsättning av upplockningsplatser till motsvarande uppsättning av avlämningsplatser. PDP:er är NP-svåra och har en stor mängd olika varianter och potentiella begränsningar. Denna avhandling utvärderar metoder för att lösa ett dynamiskt enkel-fordon PDP med flera tidsrelaterade begränsningar. Problemet är dynamiskt i den mening att nya beställnigar anländer i samband med att tiden simuleras och sätts in i fordonets leveransplan samtidigt som den utförs. De tidsrelaterade begränsningarna innefattar begränsade tidsfönstren under vilka beställningar kan plockas upp eller lämnas av, samt maximala tider som hämtade föremål får tillbringa i fordonet innan de lämnas av. För att lösa problemet anpassar vi insättningsheuristiker baserade på Large Neighborhood Search (LNS) och Heuristic Destroy and Repair (HDR) till problemet och utvärderar dem i en jämförande studie. Lösningsmetoder för PDP tillämpas också på problemet att dynamiskt tilldela inkommande beställningar till fordon i en leveransservice med en kort planeringshorisont. En PDP-baserad tilldelningsstrategi jämförs med strategier baserade på närhet och arbetsbelastning. På grund av målapplikationens korta planeringshorisont så fokuserar studien på att hitta väl presterande metoder för att snabbt lösa små PDP:er som innehåller 10-15 förfrågningar. Våra resultat indikerar att LNS överträffar HDR för små probleminstanser. Däremot leder den snabba konvergensen av HDR till att den överträffar LNS för större probleminstanser. Vi visar också att tillämpningen av en PDP-baserad tilldelningsstrategi i tilldelningsproblemet gör att tjänsten kan tillgodose fler beställningar än de alternativa tilldelningsstrategierna, samtidigt som det ger en betydlig minskning av driftskostnaderna. Framtida arbete kan förbättra tilldelningsstrategin genom att integrera mer förutseende funktionalitet och effektivisera PDP-metoderna med ett mer effektivt test av genomförbarhet för lösningar.

This study deals with the problem of assigning same-day delivery orders of Electronic Commerce (EC) operators to their logistics service providers (LSPs). Same-day delivery orders refer to the orders which are placed by online shopping customers before the cut-off time set by EC operators and have to be delivered (usually by the end of operation time of logistics companies) on the same day. The problem considers a single EC operator collaborating with several LSPs that deliver online shopping orders to the locations specified by customers within the same day when orders are placed. The objective is to minimize the total logistics cost of the EC operator. The constraints include that (i) each order must be assigned to a LSP, (ii) the service areas, distribution modes and capacities of the LSPs need to be considered, and (iii) the minimal number of orders assigned to each LSP guaranteed by the EC operator must be satisfied. The last constraint facilitates that all orders do not concentrate on a small number of LSPs. This study builds a time-space network to represent the given same-day delivery orders (i.e., demand data) and constructs a multi-layer time-space network to describe the supply data (i.e., service areas, modes, capacities and costs) of the LSPs, with each layer corresponding to a LSP. An optimal same-day delivery orders assignment model is then established based on the constructed multi-layer time-space network. A numerical example is generated based on the real data of several EC operators in Taiwan and solved using the optimization software, Gurobi. Sensitivity analyses are also conducted to examine the impact of several model parameters on the objective value and computational time. The results show that the proposed model can help EC operators to effectively assign same-day-delivery orders to their LSPs.
