Анотація:

The aim of this paper is to study and outline the factors governing political leadership at the party leader level, and to conclude to what extent a party leader rules and to what extent the party leadership is contextually determined. The theories used are based on Elgie's interactionistic study of political leadership and Stewart's organisational model of leadership as well as political culture.

Thus, the questions raised are if the leader leads or if the leader follows; if the leadership environment is formed by the leader or if it is, merely, implemented on the leader; and what a model of the political leadership consist of? To answer these questions a text analysis comparing Sahlin’s speeches to the party’s political programme is used as well as in-depth interviews with members of the Board of Party.

The conclusion shows that the leadership is contextually framed, but the leader is free to implement his or her ambitions within that frame as long as it is coherent to the party line.

Анотація:

This thesis analyses the nation-building work that the Indian Army undertook during the military administration of Malaya, 1945-6. This was a two-part process, taking in military-led relief work and a political reform scheme. Historians have conducted little work on the Indian Army’s role in the British return to empire in Malaya, thus the army’s crucial and nuanced role has been overlooked. This limits the understanding of the army’s institutional development and role in Malayan nation-building between 1945-6. This thesis redresses this. It argues that the military administration of Malaya encapsulated the culmination of wartime changes to the role of the Indian Army fighting soldier. Whereas before the war the Indian Army found it expedient to keep its soldiers isolated from current affairs, British experience during the Second World War instead suggested that soldiers educated in current affairs could be very effective. Concurrently, British military leaders began to think on the role of the Indian Army and its men after the war. They concluded that the Indian Army’s soldiers could become catalysts of national political and social development, and initially identified this as a role for the army in post-war India. Furthermore, it was felt that the Indian Army could contribute both to the Commonwealth and United Nations ideals. The return to Malaya encapsulated these changes to the conception of the Indian Army soldier and was a practical expression and measure of these. The soldiers became agents of political change, imperial re-entrenchment and administration – which this thesis terms ‘soldier-administrators’. The Indian Army, it is argued, was deployed consciously as a nation-building force, using the new thinking on the role of Indian Army soldiers. In so doing, the Indian Army partook in targeted schemes for military relief, political reform and nation-building to try to build the new Malayan nation.

Анотація:

Kabīr stands as one of the most, if not the most, influential nirguṇbhakti poet of the so-called Sant movement in northern India during the 15th century. Even though his fame is far and widely spread, there is no extensive historical evidence regarding his own life. The understanding one might have surrounding Kabīr is mostly inspired by his poems, or following the information which is available through the rich traditions regarding Kabīr, mostly authored by his followers in the Kabīr Panth. His critical view on high caste society, and rough rhetoric regarding the institutionalized religious traditions of his era, made him a victim of hate and violence during his lifetime. After his death, this rough rhetoric and critical view, ignited a full on dispute between Hindus and Muslims on the subject of which group he belonged to. The teachings of Kabīr has not only sparked an interest in the field of academia but also in movies, literature and theater alike. The latter is the main subject of interest for this paper. The renowned Indian writer Bhisham Sahni has during his life been recognized as one of the most influential writers in the so-called Nayī Kahānī movement, which sprung from a new found vision of the future after Indian independence 1947. Sahnis is mostly famous for his novels and short stories, with such titles as Tamas and Amṛtsar ā gayā hai. But in this paper we shall instead take a closer look into his play Kabirā khaḍā bazār meṃ and how Kabīr is portrayed and understood by Sahni, as well as, if and how Sahni’s Kabīr can be understood within a comparative analysis with how he is portrayed in the introduction to Rabindranath Tagore’s One hundred poems of Kabir by Evelyn Underhill and in Linda Hess’s The Bījak of Kabīr.

Анотація:

Textile process and textile structures that are suitable for composites are carefully studied and chosen to have weft knitted fabrics. The aim of this research is to knit the carbon and Dyneema® fibres in circular weft knitting to fit contour shapes. Carbon/Dyneema® can also be knitted in warp knitting machines to get properties in multi axial direction. But the fabric was flat and can be used only for 2D shape products which are having less drapabiity. According to previous research, weft knitting is the best suitable for complex preforms. Before knitting these fibres properties were studied in order to avoid the damage to the carbon fibres. The carbon fibres have high bending rigidity, low resistance to friction and are very brittle. A small damage to the carbon fibre in knitting subsequently affect directly on the composite properties. The strongest manmade fibre manufactured till date is Dyneema® and these fibres could be used in composites due to its performance, properties and light weight. But, the Dyneema® fibres are expensive when compared to common polyester, so polyester fibres are used to compare the properties and cost performance ratio. The critical bending of the carbon fibres causes friction between the fibres and also between fibre and machine. This was considered carefully during the knitting of carbon fibres and the idea chosen is mentioned in this thesis. Between the two layers of Dyneema®/polyester, carbon fibres are laid circularly in unidirectional and in un-crimped condition. This makes the carbon yarn to possess good mechanical properties. The 2 layers of Dyneema®/polyester fibres exchange the loops at certain points to increase the inter-laminar strength and decrease the carbon fibre distortion. This structure helps to withstand external load. It is also lighter than the carbon composite with additional properties. This makes much more space in the future for the Dyneema® fibres in the 3D carbon composite manufacturing. The internal carbon fibres are fully covered by the Dyneema® fibres to withstand the external impact load and not to damage the carbon fibres. So the loop length, stitch density, fibre volume fractions are considered before knitting.

Resumo: O objetivo geral dessa dissertação é investigar, de maneira ensaística, as contribuições de Marshall Sahlins para o desenvolvimento de uma teoria antropológica das "necessidades econômicas". A hipótese inicial é que essas contribuições teóricas de Sahlins permitem o desenvolvimento de uma arqueologia do conceito de "necessidade econômica". A estratégia escolhida para organizar essa argumentação é em um primeiro momento, estudar as interpretações que Sahlins propõe sobre as relações entre Natureza, Cultura e Economia, evidenciando as críticas que Sahlins desenvolve sobre as teorias materialistas. Posteriormente, será exposto um mapeamento teórico sobre o conceito de economia selvagem. Esse mapeamento é baseado nas definições de Sahlins sobre o modo de produção doméstico e permite o desenvolvimento de um debate com as teorias de Pierre Clastres e Gilles Deleuze. No terceiro capítulo, será exposto o processo de invenção do conceito de "necessidade econômica" pela Ciência Econômica. Esse mecanismo de invenção conceitual será submetido a uma análise crítica, abrindo espaço para a noção de produção do desejo
Abstract: The objective of this dissertation is to investigate the contributions of Marshall Sahlins in the development of an anthropological theory of "economic necessity". The initial hypothesis is that these theoretical contributions of Sahlins allow the development of an archeology of the concept of "economic necessity". The strategy chosen to host such an argument is at first, to study what Sahlins proposes interpretations on the relationship between Nature, Culture and Economy, highlighting the critical Sahlins develops on materialist theories. Subsequently, a mapping will be exposed on the theoretical concept of wild economy. Based on the domestic mode of production will develop a debate between the theories of Sahlins, Pierre Clastres and Gilles Deleuze. The third chapter will be explained the process of inventing the concept of "economic necessity", by the Economic Science. This mechanism of conceptual invention will be subjected to critical analysis, making room for the notion of production of desire

Nosso objetivo neste trabalho é analisarmos a construção e as transformações da ideia de história do antropólogo norte-americano Marshall Sahlins, entre as décadas de 1950 e 1980. Acreditamos que este período é importante pelo fato de encontrarmos nele os princípios de uma forma de pensar a história que continuará a dominar a obra de Sahlins nas décadas seguintes. Para analisarmos sua ideia de história, bem como suas transformações, interpretaremos os princípios teóricos que a define enquanto tal. Argumentaremos que Sahlins adotará duas ideias de história durante este período: uma que terá a palavra "evolução" como princípio teórico central e outra em que os termos "cultura" e "estrutura" serão seus princípios teóricos mais importantes. Estas ideias de história serão analisadas também no contexto da sociedade e das ideias que tiveram um papel central na vida intelectual de Sahlins. Defenderemos também que, neste contexto, as obras dos antropólogos Leslie White e Claude Lévi-Strauss terão uma grande importância. E esperamos, deste modo, dar duas contribuições: uma para a compreensão da ideia de história de Sahlins; e outra para o atual debate sobre a relação entre História e Antropologia.
Our objective in this work is to analyze the construction and the transformations of the idea of history of the American anthropologist Marshall Sahlins, between de decades of 1950 and 1980. We believe that this period is important because we can find in it the principles of a way of thinking about history that will continue to dominate Sahlins work in the following decades. In order to analyze his idea of history, as well as its transformations, we will interpret the theoretical principles that define it as such. We will argue that Sahlins will adopt two ideas of history during this period: one that will have the word "evolution" as its central theoretical principle and another where the words "culture" and "structure" will be its most important theoretical principles. These ideas of history will also be analyzed in the context of the society and the ideas that had a central role in Sahlins intellectual life. We will also defend that, in this context, the works of Leslie White and Claude Lévi-Strauss will have a great importance. And we hope, in this way, to give two contributions: one for the understanding of Sahlins idea of history; and another to the current debate about the relationship between History and Anthropology.

Анотація:

OBJETIVOS 1. General: Diseñar un protocolo de tratamiento con Dispositivo Intraoral de Avance Mandibular (DIAM) en pacientes diagnosticados de SAHS en grado leve, moderado o severo. 2. Específicos: 2.1. Determinar la reducción en la frecuencia e intensidad del ronquido en pacientes tratados con DIAM. 2.2. Determinar qué cantidad de ajustes son necesarios para conseguir el mejor resultado en cada paciente. 2.3. Valorar si ha habido aparición de Trastornos Temporo-Mandibulares en pacientes tratados con DIAM a largo plazo (dolor muscular, dolor y ruido articular). 2.4. Valorar el éxito y la efectividad a largo plazo de los DIAM. 2.5. Determinar el efecto del dispositivo sobre el Bruxismo. 2.6. Valorar la cantidad de cambios oclusales en pacientes tratados con DIAM a largo plazo (resalte, sobremordida, desviación de línea media). 2.7. Determinar los efectos secundarios más comunes hallados por los pacientes. 2.8. Grado de adherencia al tratamiento con DIAM. 2.9. Causas más comunes de abandono de tratamiento. METODOLOGÍA Se ha estudiado una muestra de 65 pacientes diagnosticados de ronquido o SAHS leve, moderado o severo mediante una PSG o PCR. Se utilizaron dos tipos de DIAM: Silensor® y DAM®. A los pacientes se les ha realizado un protocolo de tratamiento que consta de 5 citas: 1. CITA 1 : Recogida de datos mediante historia clínica y modelos de escayola. 2. CITA 2: a la semana de la cita 1, entrega y ajuste de DIAM. Se entrega una hoja de seguimiento al paciente. 3. CITA 3: un mes tras la cita 2. Revisión de adaptación del DIAM y prueba del sueño con Apnealink® o Apnealink Plus®. 4. CITA 4: a la semana de la cita 3. a. Si IAH<5, sin somonlencia, más descansando, no ronca, pasamos a hacer revisiones cada año. b. Si IAH≥5 cambiamos conectores plásticos y volvemos a realizar prueba del sueño. 5. CITA 5: un año tras el ajuste final del dispositivo. Se realizará historia clínica completa (cita1) y prueba del sueño con Apnealink®. CONCLUSIONES 1. El DIAM es efectivo para disminuir el ronquido en todos los casos. 2. No hay un porcentaje de avance mandibular que sea común para todos los pacientes. Cada paciente tiene que ser tratado de manera individualizada. Con cada cambio de posición debe realizarse una prueba del sueño y decidir si se protruye más la mandíbula, se deja en esa posición o se retrasa a la posición mandibular anterior. A veces una protrusión excesiva puede llevar a incrementos del IAH. Recomendamos una protrusión media del 60% en roncadores y en pacientes con SAHS leve o moderado. En pacientes severos se puede empezar con una protrusión del 70%. 3. El tratamiento no afectó a la salud articular ni empeorándola ni favoreciendo la aparición de patología articular. Podemos ver incluso a nivel de ATM izquierda una mejora de los ruidos y dolores articulares con el uso del DIAM. 4. El éxito a corto plazo, cuando el dispositivo está perfectamente ajustado, es del 75.6% y una efectividad del 96.07%. El éxito a largo plazo (3.5 años tras el ajuste del dispositivo) 66,6%, hay que recordar que en muchas ocasiones es por deterioro del DIAM, la efectividad a largo plazo sí que se mantiene en el 96,07%. 5. El tratamiento con DIAM no produce mejora ni empeoramiento de los signos y síntomas de bruxismo, parece que hay una ligera tendencia a disminuir el bruxismo. Tampoco disminuye la sensibilidad muscular a la palpación. 6. A nivel oclusal producirá: disminución en la sobremordida y el resalte y aumento de la distancia intercanina mandibular. Por lo general, estos cambios son mínimos y no obligan a dejar de utilizar el DIAM. en casos en los que se produzcan cambios excesivos se puede dejar de utilizar el DIAM hasta que reviertan los cambios. 7. Se van a producir efectos secundarios subjetivos de carácter menor: aumento de la salivación, sequedad oral y dolor dental. Tenderán a producirse en mayor medida en los pacientes en los que hayamos realizado un avance mandibular mayor. 8. El grado de adherencia al tratamiento es alto, el 78,46% de los pacientes que completan el protocolo de tratamiento van a la revisión a largo plazo. 9. La causa más común de abandono de tratamiento es el costo económico del DIAM, lo que hace que algunos pacientes opten por volver al uso de CPAP o intentar tratamiento con CPAP
OBJETIVES 1. General: To design a treatment protocol with Mandibular Advancement Splint (MAS) in mild, moderate and severe OSA patients. 2. Specifics: 2.1. To determine the reduction in frequency and intensity of snoring in patients with MAS treatment. 2.2. To determine how many plastic connector changes (adjustments) are needed to achieve the best result in every patient. 2.3. To evaluate the occurrence of temporomandibular disease in patients with long term MAS therapy (muscular pain, articular noise and articular pain). 2.4. Assess MAS long-term treatment success and effectiveness. 2.5. To determine the effect of the dispositive on bruxism. 2.6. Assess the amount of occlusal changes in patients treated with long-term MAS therapy (overjet, overbite, etc). 2.7. Assess the most common side effects found by patients. 2.8. Degree of adherence to long term MAS treatment. 2.9. Most common causes of treatment dropout. METHODOLOGY A sample of 65 patients diagnosed with snoring or mild, moderate or severe OSA by PSG or PCR has been studied. Two different types of MAS has been used, Silensor® and DAM®. Every patient has undergone a treatment protocol consisting of 5 appointments: 1. Appointment 1: Data collection based on clinical history and plaster models. 2. Appointment 2: 1 week after Appointment 1, DIAM delivery and adjustment. A monitoring sheet is delivered to each patient. 3. Appointment 3: 1 month after Appointment 2, adaptation of MAS checking and sleep test with Apnealink® or Apnealink Plus®. 4. Appointment 4: 1 week after Appointment 3. a. If IAH<5, no daytime sleepiness, more rested, no snoring, we start to check the patient annually. b. If IAH≥5 we change the plastic connectors and we do a new sleep test in the new position. 5. Appointment 5: A year after the final adjustment of the device. Complete clinical history (appointment 1) and sleep test with Apnealink® or Apnealink Plus are performed. CONCLUSIONS 1. The MAS is effective in reducing snoring in all patients. 2. There is no standard amount of mandibular advancement that fits all patients. Every patient must be treated individually. We must do a sleep test with every change in the mandibular position and decide if we must protrude more the mandible, keep it in that position or set back the position through the connectors. Sometimes excessive protrusion of the mandible can lead to higher levels of AHI. 3. We recommend a mean protrusion of 60% in snorers and patients with mild to moderate OSA. In severe patients we may start with a protrusion of 70%. 4. The treatment does not affect the articular health worsening or favoring the appearance of articular pathology. We can see even in left TMJ an improvement regarding noise and joint pain with the use of MAS. 5. The short term success when the device is perfectly adjusted is 75,6% and the effectiveness 96,97%. 6. The long term success (3.5 years after device adjustment) is 66,6%. We must remember that in most cases this is due to the wear of the device. The long term effectiveness remains at 96.07%. 7. The MAS treatment does not result in improvement or worsening of the signs and symptoms of bruxism. There seems to be a slight tendency to reduce bruxism but not significative. It does not decrease muscle tenderness either. 8. Occlusal changes: decreased overbite and overjet and increased intercanine distance. In general, those changes are minimal and do not force the MAS treatment to dropout. When the changes are excessive, the patient must stop using the device until the occlusal changes revert. 9. It will produce subjective side effects of minor nature: increased salivation, dry mouth and dental pain. They tend to occur more in the patients in whom we have performed a greater mandibular advancement. 10. The degree of treatment adherence is high. 78,46% of patients who complete the treatment protocol will attend to long term revision appointment. 11. The most common cause of treatment abandonment is the economic cost of DIAM, which makes some patients choose to return to the use of CPAP or try CPAP.

L'objet de cette recherche est d'evaluer les donnees qui ont ete consignees a propos des sahaba et des tabi'un (compagnons du prophete et leurs successeurs) au maghreb a partir de trois sources maghrebines appartenant au genre des tabaqat. 1- tabaqat 'ulama' ifriqiyya wa tunis d'abu al-'arab (ne entre 250/864 et 260/873, mort en 333/944) 2- riyad al-nufus d'al-maliki (5/11) 3- ma'alim al-iman d'ibn nadji (mort en 873/1434) une telle etude devrait en premier lieu repondre a un souci de lecture critique des textes afin d'etablir la veracite des informations. Par ailleurs, l'investigation sur un corpus donne (maghrebin), permettrait de reformuler les problematiques aussi bien au regard du genre historiographique, du point de vue de la structure des recits et des enjeux ideologiques sous-jacents, que de l'image et la fonction de ces personnages au sein de la societe maghrebine.
