Повний текст джерелаBased on biographical interviews conducted with refugees and inspired by the method of “biographical policy evaluation”, this dissertation examines how young men who fled to France and Germany between 2014 and 2017 reconstruct life in exile. Through the comparison between the case studies different types of “flight dynamics” where distinguished. The research also shows that the logics of reception and integration policies implemented by the two States shape people’s experiences at different stages of their life course after the flight : when entering the category of “asylum seeker”, during the asylum application and after obtaining “refugee” status. However, the study also highlights that the possibilities of reconstructing life in exile do not only depend on the objective living situations of the refugees in the two countries. Subjective interpretations of exile, either as a rupture of a successful life or as a biographical opportunity, also affect refugees’ courses of action

Повний текст джерелаMany autobiographies of former communist activists have been published in France but the withdrawal of the French Communist Party's grassroots members has rarely been studied from a sociological point of view. This dissertation deals with this withdrawal process between 1978 and 2000. From a corpus of thirty biographical interviews conducted in two very different regions (the Pas-de-Calais mineral basin, representative of the crisis of the "workers'Party" and Paris, which used to be the showcase of the "intellectuals'Party"), it reconstructs the trajectories of former activists. By studying the evolution of the relationship between individuals and the party, from the joining process to the post-activism redeployments, it allows to understand the motivations for the defection. Identifying the narrative categories used in the biographical interviews makes it possible to understand the conditions of the joining, the inflexions of the activist carreer, the motives for exit, and the ways to biographically negotiate with the defection. The analysis of these processes is a way to break with the explanations of the defection that only focus on political events. It demonstrates the role of social roots, institutionnal changes and identity transformations in the exit phenomenon. It also shows the differentiated ability of people to adapt themselves to new situations and to give coherent image of the changes in their carreer. Eventually, the analysis of the communist exit raises the question of the changes in institutionnal configurations and individual identifications in a social context that values continuity

Повний текст джерелаResearch on the involvement of migrants is often limited to the observation of their activities in organizations within in the country of immigration, thus obscuring its origin. It is from the experience of political Iranian and Algerian exiles in France that we have reconstructed "career activists" to understand the collective and individual logic behind them. How does one become an activist in a closed political context? What are the barriers and facilitators for women's involvement? Should exile be perceived as an escape from the threat? How do activists manage to transform their experience of migration? How do their commitments evolve? What feminist struggles do they refer to? From the analysis of life stories of Algerian and Iranian women activist exiles in the 1990s for the first (during the Algerian civil war) and in the 1980s for second (with the advent of the Islamic Republic of Iran) we will attempt to answer these questions. We will position ourselves at the intersection of theories of social movements, feminist theories and research on migration, to analyze these careers influenced by political exile. Our research thereby updates the commitment process (including feminist) in different contexts at the same time as it provides an analysis of exile in terms of "relocation of the struggle. " It also participates in a better understanding of the articulation of power relations through a reflection on the accession of some of feminist activists to a restrictive universalist feminism

Повний текст джерелаThis work implies that testimonies of resistance published by political actors between 1943 and 1946 are the observable conclusion of personal stories' rewriting activity during the war. The comparison of the texts with the actual trajectories that inspired them provides a view on resistant identities' management during the phase of political reconstruction. It is then possible to apprehend the repertoires of political action which were enabled by the experience of resistance whereas the historical and institutional translation of this experience is collectively at stake. During the 4th Republic, the challenging of the institutions and the implementation of a new role of recourse in political competition will partly be the consequences of a will to carry out these repertoires. The return of General de Gaulle appears, to that regard, as the accomplishment of a mythical reorganisation of the political order, which therefore defines "the Resistance" as one of its main references

Повний текст джерелаThis thesis focuses on the memories and life stories of Sri Lankan Tamils who arrived in France aller the year 2000. It is based on an ethnographie investigation of the life accounts of thèse exiles, many of whom have fought in the secessionist organisation Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), as well as of asylum policies in France. This work seeks to shed light on the emergence and construction of specifie political subjects, in particular the "fighter" and the "victim", across différent contexts. It seeks to define the rôle played by institutions, social injunctions and socio-cultural values in relation to the fashioning of subjectivity. An attempt is made to understand the way in which the interpretation of the past and the meaning assigned to it contribute to define the exiles' identity. As violence is a recurrent element in the life stories examined, the thesis analyses the way in which narrative accounts of the past deal with social uses of violence in different contexts (LTTE, host institutions, etc. ). The thesis further highlights the tact that war is not just a moment of social disintegration, but that it entails a reconfiguration of the existing social, political and cultural order. Wilhin a historical context that was rapidly changing (war and exile), new collective and individual identifies emerged. Finally, the work emphasises the fact that telling our own story reveals our place in the world : it means negotiating our relation with others and the society in wich we live. It is possible, therefore, to examine the way in wich the exiles face their suffering and rebuild their lives

Повний текст джерелаAs migrant subjects, Latin Americans are mostly identified in the US context, where they constitute a significant foreign population. However, with a significant quantitative evolution in Europe and France, they are beginning to find a place in European studies on international migration. If due to their cultural and historical ties, Latinos are mostly present in countries like Spain, Portugal or Italy, the Latin American communities also exist in France. Among them, political exiles from South American dictatorships is the most visible category. To a lesser extent, that of international students too, and since the 1980s, economic migrants emerged as a new profile. Considered as an "example of integration", this idealized image of Latin American refugees leaves behind certain aspects that are essential and inherent to integration, such as participation in the host society and especially access to the labor market. Supported by life stories, this doctoral research aims to analyze their life paths, with attention to the strategies they put in place to make possible a labor insertion increasingly restricted by the migration policies that concern them as non-European nationals. To do this, our discussion considers both the subjective element (perceptions, experiences, resources ans strategies mobilized) and the structuring ans objective elements such as migration policies and the different social relations migrants establish in the host country
