В статье рассмотрена проблема взаимодействия городских пространств и объектов железнодорожных вокзальных комплексов. Выявлено четыре эволюционных этапа, отражающих влияние железнодорожного транспорта и его объектов на формирование городов с момента строительства железной дороги в Уральском регионе. Приведены примеры произведений архитектуры известных зодчих, принимавших участие в проектировании железнодорожных вокзалов. В соответствии с концепцией развития российских железных дорог определена необходимость в комплексном развитии железнодорожных вокзалов, объектов транспортной инфраструктуры совместно с прилегающими территориями для совершенствования структуры малых и средних городов Урала. The article deals with the problem of interaction between urban spaces and objects of railway station complexes. Four evolutionary stages have been identified that reflect the influence of railway transport and its facilities on the formation of cities since the construction of the railway in the Ural region. Examples of works of architecture by famous architects who took part in the design of railway stations are given. In accordance with the concept of development of Russian railways, the need for comprehensive development of railway stations, transport infrastructure facilities together with adjacent territories to improve the structure of small and medium-sized cities in the Urals is determined.

Currently, there is a radical restructuring of secondary vocational education in all spheres of industry production of the Russian Federation, in particular, in the railway transport industry, where special attention is paid to the development of highly qualified personnel potential. On September 1, 2022, the program of the Ministry of Education of Russia “Professionalitet” was launched, which included the railway industry. The main goal of the program is to organically connect the system of training highly qualified middle-level personnel with production industries, as well as to make training in vocational education programs less costly for the state budget.Nine leading educational institutions of the country, including the Perm Institute of Railway Transport, a branch of the Ural State Transport University, became the navigator of the federal project “Professionalitet” in the railway industry.At the Institute, “Professionalitet” included three specialties: 08.02.10 “Construction of railways, track and track facilities”; February 23, 2006 “Technical operation of rolling stock of railways (specialization locomotives)”; 27.02.03 “Automation and telemechanics in transport (railway transport)”. Equipment standards have been developed for each of the specialties.

The problem of the study. The article is devoted to the problems of the development of railway and road transport in Russia and their influence on the formation of the population of Russia in 2009-2018. First of all, territories are considered, depending on the intensity of migration and natural population growth, which are included in groups with different density of railways for 2018. Purpose of research. The key goal of the proposed study is to study and identify, on the basis of statistical data, the influence of the density of railway transport on migration processes and indicators of the natural movement of the population. Methodology and methods. The analysis was carried out in groups that unite territories with different density of railways and highways. And also by groups with different intensity of migration and natural population growth. Research results. The results of the study made it possible to establish: the development of the railway network in 2009-2018 was not active. During the period under review, the density of railways increased only in 16 territories of the country. In 53 territories, the situation with railways has not changed. A diametrically opposite situation has developed with the density of highways. That is, the development proceeded due to the increase in paved roads. Scientific novelty. As a result of the study, based on statistical data, it was revealed that most of the territories with a positive migration increase are included in the group with the highest density of railways. And most of the territories with positive natural growth are included in the group with low density of railways.

The problem of the need for construction of railways in the North Caucasus as a strategically and economically important enterprise for maintaining and developing the viability of the region is considered. Preconditions and opinions on the appropriateness of railway connection are given. To achieve this goal in the region, it was decided to establish a new joint-stock company of the Rostov-Vladikavkaz railway. The dynamics is investigated from planning, choosing the final direction from those proposed by the engineers who carried out surveys on the ground, to the actual opening of permanent traffic on the first (main) line of the Rostov-on-Don - Vladikavkaz Society - the first highway that connected the Caucasus with the central part of the state in 1875 ... A brief description of this path is given. The geography of the line was investigated. Some stages of further development are given, the results and opinions obtained during the operation of the road are summed up. The issue of location and development of the Rostov railway junction is considered. Already in the first years of operation, the enormous potential of railway transport in the North Caucasus was obvious, not only strategically, but also as an economically important enterprise that opened up new opportunities for the development of the region, which in turn made the railway the main industrial giant.

The article attempts to investigate the historical circumstances of the formation and development of railway infrastructure in Stanytsia Luhanska (1898–1945), a village that became a key logistics center in the immediate vicinity of the demarcation line amid the escalation of the military confrontation in Donbas. Based on a comprehensive analysis of sources and scientific literature, it is proved that the construction of railways in the Donbass had a fundamental impact on economic development and the formation of transport infrastructure in Stanytsia Luhanska. It was found that the Kindrashivska landing platform, which formed the basis for the formation of the first hub station, was built during the construction of the Luhansk-Millerovo branch in the mid-1890s on the territory of the Kondrashov hamlet adjacent to the village. The history of the foundation and pre-war period of development of repair and maintenance enterprises of Kindrashivska-Nova station is analyzed. In the mid-1930s, against the background of the construction of the Moscow-Donbass coal highway on the territory of Stanytsia Luhanska, the key infrastructure of the railway settlement and hub enterprises of the second Kindrashivska station was laid, which is used to ensure the transportation process to this day. We believe that further study of the proposed topic requires clarification of a wide range of issues related to economic activity and technological development of local stations on the basis of materials currently inaccessible to the State Archives of Luhansk region and Luhansk Directorate of Railways of Donetsk Railway.

The article defines the perspectives of “Freight Express” Service introduction which was approved on the polygons of Oktyabr’saya, Moscow, West-Siberian railways of Russian Federation. The task for service constructor formation for freight by railway transport with the purpose to rise route speed of train traffic was considered on the given service example. The given service characteristics and its realization analysis on the railway activity polygon are presented with the perspective of this trend development. There has been fulfilled being pursued work analysis on the attraction of new clients for railway transport, the expansion of provided service list and of individual clientoriented approach while rendering services and while interaction with Traffic Management Head Office. The proposed scheme of informational accompanying of freight service by railway transport on “Freight Express” example describes the service rendering organizational process. In comparison with the service rendering existing approach, the approach algorithmization and automation for wide spread on railway network is proposed.

It is found that while determining railway economic safety, in whole or in part, of each element, quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods shall be used and combined. There is the calculation of railway economic safety based on the determination of aggregate criterion. It is found that the selection of figures upon certain functional elements shall be made based on any threats.

The article explores the formation of the Russian Administration of Galician Railways in the autumn of 1914. The occupation of Eastern Galicia by Russian troops was followed by the organisation of the civil administration of Galicia. The Galician railways were initially managed by the Southwest Railways. However, it was decided to form a separate Galician network. On October 25, 1914, the Galician Railway Administration was organized, with K.S. Nemeshaev appointed its director. Retreating from Galicia, the Austro-Hungarian army caused significant damage to Galician railways. The military situation on the front demanded fast restoration of railway communication to transport military goods and supplies for the army and evacuate the wounded. Meanwhile, the population of Galicia desperately needed regular passenger communication and freight traffic, thus the task was important both in the military and political terms. There were many factors complicating the work: the difference between the local narrow and Russian wide gauges, difficult terrain, lack of qualified personnel and rolling stock, and remoteness of Galicia. However, in the first three months of operation, the Railway Administration carried out large-scale repair and restoration work on the railway track, which had been thoroughly destroyed by the enemy during its retreat. By February 1915, the Railway Administration had been able to double its operating network. It had also begun the expansion and development of existing lines and stations and construction of new ones. Two lines were changed to the Russian gauge.

Effective social integration of disabled people is impossible without accessible passenger transport. In the passenger complex of Russian Railways, systemic measures are being taken to create a barrier-free environment in railway transport for people with limited mobility of consumers of transport services. However, to date, there is no description of the mechanism for the formation of an accessible environment in relation to railway transport, despite the fact that certain aspects of this process are widely considered in various sources.

The article examines the main milestones in the life and work of Georgiy Mykolayovych Kirpa, Minister of Transport of Ukraine, General Director of the State Administration of Railway Transport of Ukraine. The article reveals the formation of Georgiy Kirpa’s character, his childhood, that was anything but simple. Much attention is paid to G. Kirpa’s training at the Kharkiv Institute of Railway Engineers. The main stages of Georgiy Mykolayovych Kirpa’s activity at the Ukrainian railways have been studied – from a duty officer at the Chop station to the General Director of Ukrzaliznytsia. The article also reveals the challenges that the Ukrainian railway transport faced during the formation of statehood and the role of Georgiy Mykolayovych Kirpa in overcoming the difficulties and establishing effective operation of the Ukrainian railway. A special place in the article is dedicated to the work of G.M. Kirpy as the Minister of Transport of Ukraine, the implementation of large-scale projects, such as the Kyiv-Odessa highway, the Danube-Black Sea shipping canal, the development of high-speed traffic and the renewal of the rolling stock of the Ukrainian railways, the construction of a border outpost on the Tuzla Island and many others. The role of G.M. Kirpa in the construction of social, cultural, spiritual objects in Ukraine is described. The experience of forming an effective team of railway professionals under Georgiy Mykolayovych’s leadership has been studied. The main personal traits of Georgiy Kirpa are shown, which were the key factors to his professional success.

The history of the formation and development of railway education in Azerbaijan from the end of the 19th century is considered until the early 1930s; goals, organization and content of the educational process in educational institutions at the railways, forms of educational institutions, problems of training national personnel for the railway industry. It is noted that despite the existing problems in the training of national personnel, primarily related to ignorance of the Russian language, by the end of the 19th century. The first railway engineers from among the Azerbaijanis began to appear.This period of time is associated with important stages in the history of the region, the country and the whole world. If the opening of the first railway line in Azerbaijan was associated with the rapid development of the oil industry, then the expansion took place against the background of the peak of the economic power of the Russian Empire, and subsequently the outbreak of the First World War. A difficult period for the railways of Azerbaijan came after the revolutions of 1917, during the confrontation between the revolutionary forces of the Bolsheviks and local authorities, part of the railways was put out of action. Attempts to rebuild the destroyed tracks were made by the national government of Azerbaijan, but the railway was fully restored only after the establishment of Soviet power in the country.The improvement of educational institutions on the railway is inextricably linked with the development of the railway industry. All historical and political changes that had an impact on the industry were reflected in the process of training specialized personnel.

On the basis of the imperial (1873/1903–1918), interwar (1919/1921–1939), soviet (1945–1991) and modern (since 1991) historical periods of Ukraine, the development of the architecture of railway buildings and other passenger structures of the railway branch Lviv - Sianky in the main functional, spatial, structural and artistic properties isstudied. All stations and stops of the studied line belong to the coastal type, have connections of landing platforms with station buildings and settlements in one ground level. The buildings of the Turka and Jasenyzia railway stations are the oldest, well-preserved and belong to the projects of the local Austrian group of the imperial period. The railway buildings of Komarno, Rudky, StaryiSambir, Strilky, as well as Boykivska, Vankovytchi, Yavora are unique in their characteristic silhouette and roof shape and can be found only on the Lviv - Sianky railway. In terms of style and composition, they reflect the then vision of the architecture of public buildings, as well as contain links and support the image of the former village houses of Boykivshchyna (Boykos Land). The trend in the formation of architecture of buildings and structures of Lviv - Sianky railway stations in general is due to changes in the scale of construction and methods of passenger service from the originally majestic two-story station buildings at stations with passenger, service and residential functions (in the imperial, interwar periods). buildings with ticket offices and waiting rooms (in the early Soviet period), - to serial metal structures of open waiting rooms at landing platforms (stops) with techniques and means of industrial design (in the late Soviet, modern periods).

The Society has become a notable unit for the preservation and promotion of the historical heritage of our country's railways. At the conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the VOLZD, the great role of the Company was noted, congratulations were made by the head of the JSC "Russian Railways" O.V. Belozerov and the chief engineer of the company S.A. Kobzev. The main goals and objectives of VOLZD are shown: preservation and promotion of the historical heritage of railway transport, creation of a positive image of railways in the eyes of the general public, satisfaction of cognitive interest in the railway, education and vocational guidance, development of railway modeling, reference and information activities. The algorithm of the Society's work is presented. It was noted that VOLZD is an active partner of Russian Railways in the field of popularization of the past and present of the industry, propagandizes the historical activities of Russian Railways in Russia and abroad. The Society advises the company, its branches, and other organizations in the field of the history of railways (while maintaining retro technology, preparing mass events and orders in the field of the history of railways, filming, etc.).

Object of research: technology of track maintenance optimization Solved problem: In the development of decisions to optimize the decision-making system in the content of the upper structure of the track used methods of control theory, systems analysis, methodology of optimal control. Main scientific results: An analysis of the degrees of research on improving the efficiency of the technical management of railways showed that there was no systematic approach and that existing developments in the organization, in particular the relative optimization, Separate track repair standards or take into account parameter models, process requirements and conditions. Area of practical use of research results: industrial enterprises, railway stations. Providing the stable support of the railway, sustainable and rhythmic operation of railway traffic is ensured. About 7.3 thousand km are exploited in the ferrous metallurgy of Ukraine. More than 70 % of routes are up to 500 km long and belong to a large company. Consequently, an important task is to maintain the technical state of railways at the production demands level. Innovative technological product: combined transportations that can interact with similar networks of foreign countries. Scope of application of innovative technological product: formation and effective functioning of railway-transport complex, improvement of tariff policy, substantiation of perspective parameters of transportation process and its technical means, creation of advanced technologies, choice of rational structure of transport network, formation of transport corridors, development of fundamentally new management systems.

The article considers and analyzes the main features of the formation of architectural ensembles of railways, which determine the principles of their preservation and development. The method of system analysis was applied on the materials of archival and bibliographic sources, field studies, legal acts and project documentation in the field of state protection of cultural heritage objects. The main historical stages of the construction of railways and their types - mainline, suburban, urban were studied. The connection of historical stages and types of railways with the principles of station placement is revealed. The main types of station placement are identified - in existing settlements or in previously uninhabited areas, which determine their object composition and protection features - as mono-complexes or polycentric complexes at various urban planning levels - a separate object, a station complex, a set of railway stations. It has been established that the main basic characteristic of railway stations, which determine their historical and cultural value, especially in small towns, is the complexity of their development. At the same time, the most common type of development is based on standard projects, in connection with which each building separately does not have an independent historical and cultural value, and it does not seem appropriate to protect individual buildings. On the example of the historical station Nyandoma of the Northern Railway, such a tool for the integrated protection and development of historical territories as a place of interest is considered. The principles of the formation of historical railway stations and scientific and methodological issues in the field of their integrated protection and development on the basis of the type of cultural heritage object - a place of interest are established.

The structural peculiarities of the railway term formation is investigated in the article. It is demonstrated that the most common ways of the one component railway term formation are suffixation and prefixation. The prefixation-suffixation type is a less productive way of the word building. Compound words proved to form a large group of the railway terms. The relations among the components of a compound word represent a specific type of semantic and structural relations of the word in a word combination, where the terms which consist of «noun+noun», «adjective+noun» predominate. In the system of the English railway terminology among the component terms the most widespread are nouns that explains that nouns define processes, equipment, devices, and objects. This paper outlines some linguistic properties of technical terms. The article focuses on some linguistic features of a term. Being a linguistic object with the common and specific features of a language system a term has all lexical-semantic and formal features of the words and word combinations of a natural language. In the process of the affixation term building the semantics of a derived word is defined by an affix that is why an affix can bear a particular word building meaning. But having definite motivational relations between a derivative and a derived word the semantics of the derived word is not always determined by the meanings of its components. Importance. The research of ways to ensure law and order at critical stages of history contributes to the development of the most effective mechanisms for organizing the activities of modern territorial bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. At the same time, consideration of the functioning of special units and organizations for the protection of railway transport requires clarification of the boundaries of areas of responsibility. At railway transport facilities, such areas of responsibility run along railway lines. The purpose of the research is to determine the railway lines controlled by the Soviet government in the first years of its formation. Research methods. The principle of historicism, along with a concrete historical approach, made it possible to analyze the positions of the leaders of the Soviet state in terms of organizing the activities of railway transport and ensuring its safety. Based on the principle of consistency, it was possible to identify elements of administrative-territorial division in the Russian Socialist Federative Soviet Republic. The use of the cartographic method made it possible to relate the borders of the fronts of the Civil War, and the railway lines actually controlled by the Soviet government. Results and Discussion. On the basis of archival materials, the boundaries of railway lines passing through the territories of the Russian Socialist Federative Soviet Republic controlled by the Soviet government in the first years of its formation were clarified. As a result of the research, the possible territorial boundaries of the activities of special units and services of the Soviet government to ensure law and order are determined. Conclusion. As a result of the Civil War, the actual boundaries of the influence of the Soviet government passed along the front lines and were mobile. The obtained information about the railways controlled by the Soviet government makes it possible to identify railway lines as objects of law enforcement activity. The results of the research expand approaches to the study of the formation of Soviet nation-building in 1917–1922.

The article focuses on the problem of the structural risk level diagnostics in the sphere of waste management at the railway transport objects. The specifics of the railway enterprises activity are the multi-vector business processes executed, which determines a significant nomenclature and volumes of formation, accumulation of wastes of different danger classes. A retrospective analysis of this problem on Ukrainian railways for 2007 – 2018 showed significant structural fluctuations both in terms of volume formation and in the costs and ecological payments for environmental protection in sphere of waste management. The method of sensitivity analysis, the peculiarity of which is to calculate the elasticity coefficients for determining the degree of environmental costs interaction in the field of waste management with the change of their components (capital investment, current costs, environmental tax and environmental services), is implemented. The corresponding elasticities for 2008 – 2018 showed a considerable variation of the most significant risk factors that were atypical for JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” and 6 railways. The existing structure needs to be better diagnosed with a purpose of ensuring stability and predictability of environmental costs in order to reduce structural risk, rational environmental management and to ensure the ecology of rolling stock and objects of railway transport infrastructure.

This study aims to review the socio-political and economic preconditions of creation and beginning of operation of main railways in Bukovina. The analysis of scientific and memoir literature, recollections, review of archival sources allowed establishing the fact that the problem of formation and beginning of operation of the network of railways in Bukovina of the Austro-Hungarian period was not a subject of systematic and integral investigation. It was shown that the idea of building railways in Bukovina was also in the political and socio-economic interests of Austria in the south-eastern region of Europe because by laying railways, the imperial government provided itself with a favourable strategic position in the region. Based on the results of the study, it was established that with the construction of the Lviv-Chernivtsi-Iași railway, railway communications came to first place in the Austrian-Hungarian Empire in terms of material, technical, defense and economic potential.

Labor productivity in railway transport is determined using the “reduced performance” indicator, which is formed using a reduction factor designed to take into account the difference in unit costs of the payroll fund when performing a unit of work performance: ton-kilometers in freight traffic and passenger-kilometers in passenger traffic. The article reflects the results of a study to determine the value of the passenger turnover reduction factor in the formation of the total transportation performance of Russian Railways in modern conditions. The relevance of the revision of the current reduction factor is due to a change in the organizational structure as a result of the reform of railway transport, an increase in costs per unit of production by improving the quality of passenger traffic, strengthening security measures at stations and platforms, development of electronic passenger information systems, a significant increase in the volume of high-cost types of high-speed and high-speed passenger transportation.A comparative analysis of the costs of the payroll fund in passenger and freight traffic in the context of tariff components is carried out. The comparison was carried out both in general and differentially for each type of activity carried out by the company in the passenger complex, namely: the provision of services for long-distance and suburban passenger transportation, long-distance passenger transportation and suburban traffic, carried out in high-speed rolling stock. The most costly items in each facility were identified, which characterize the labor intensity by type of activity of Russian Railways. For calculating the labor productivity of the company's employees, proposals have been developed for the formation of the reduced freight turnover using a single coefficient for passenger turnover, equal to 3.7.

The purpose of this paper is to study the objective economic aspects and prerequisites for the creating and functioning of regional railways in Bukovyna in the second half of the 19th – early 20th centuries. The deployment of railway construction on the lands of Bukovyna in the second half of the 19th century was associated with the processes of the capitalist structure formation in the economies of the countries that included these lands – Austria-Hungary and the Russian Empire. The successful activities of the large railway companies in Bukovyna were facilitated by their strong ties with banks and close mutually beneficial cooperation with various parts of the state apparatus of Austria-Hungary and the Russian Empire. There was certain dependence between railway companies and States that, on the one hand, companies could not do without financial assistance from the State. On the other hand, the State did not possess sufficient funds at the end of the 19th century to independently expand the railway network and it was forced to entrust the construction of railway lines to private companies. Banks willingly acted as founders of new private railway companies in Austria-Hungary, which intensively stimulated the development of railway construction in Bukovyna. The high degree of the capital concentration in comparison with the other branches of private capitalist production was one of the characteristic features of the railway companies of Bukovyna.

The interests of clients of the railway industry and Russian Railways in matters of recovery and compensation for “lost profits” and “lost opportunities” are not considered and regulated in laws and by-laws regarding railway transportation. Claim work is based on compensation for real damage both from users of railway transport services and from the Russian Railways holding.An algorithm for the formation, submission and resolution of claims in the provision of rail transportation services is considered. The functionality of the personal account for the clients of JSC “Russian Railways” of the project “Electronic Claimant” was analyzed. The importance of developing a basic formula that takes into account the factors affecting the amount of lost profits is indicated. The existing scheme for conducting recourse work to recover losses of Russian Railways JSC is given and a scheme for conducting claim work to compensate for lost profits of Russian Railways JSC on the basis of a unified automated system of act and claim work is presented. It is proposed as a basis for further elaboration of this issue, a mechanism for rebilling in the event of final losses from a failed transportation for clients of the Russian Railways holding. The expediency of applying a possible replacement transaction when the company finds another counterparty is also considered. The application of these measures will make it possible to create equal competitive conditions in the market for all customers and the Russian Railways holding.

This research using interview and literature study methods. The theory used in this research is the theory of interdependence and economic integration. The conclusion of this research is that the Indonesia-Bangladesh railroad cooperation has a significant impact, causing a sense of mutual dependence. The two countries finally agreed to form economic integration in the form of PTA in order to improve the economies of each country.

The Ukrainian transport engineering industry has a deep historical tradition that goes back to the activities of the Odesa railway workshops and the establishment of specialized locomotives in Kharkiv and Lugansk. The electric locomotives industry in Ukraine is represented by the products of the Dnipro plant, which for a long time produced electric locomotives of a purely industrial purpose. In the early 1990s, to upgrade the locomotive fleet of Ukrainian railways in the absence of foreign exchange funds for the purchase of traction rolling stock abroad, the management of Ukrzaliznytsia, together with the line ministries, decided to provide the organization of the main-line electric locomotives based on the Dnipro plant. During the implementation of the state program of mainline electric locomotives construction, the Dnepropetrovsk plant developed, and subsequently implemented, projects of a freight DC electric locomotive DE1, an AC cargo and passenger electric locomotive DS3, and also based on DS3 began technical research on a two-system electric locomotive with an asynchronous drive DS4. The Dnipro electric locomotive engineering plant, with its powerful scientific and production potential and clear development strategy, carried out the development and created the next generation's main electric locomotives to meet the needs of Ukrainian railways with modern electric transport. Unfortunately, due to the traditional lack of funding and lobbying on the part of Russian machine-building enterprises, the Dnieper electric locomotives have not become the main locomotives of Ukrainian railways. Unfortunately, due to the economic-financial crisis of 2008, all the prospective achievements of the said enterprise were virtually offset and the plant itself was in a difficult position. However, it is clear that the historical experience of becoming a Ukrainian scientific and production base of railway engineering needs to be properly considered. The proposed study does not deplete the raised problem in the field of the Dnipro electric locomotive plant`s activities, but only provides a general analysis and factual basis for further, more detailed review of the maintenance and development of national railway engineering in independent Ukraine, leaving considerable space for further scientific research.

The article presents a historical overview of the institutional foundations of public administration of the national railway transport complex in the first 10 years of Ukraine's independence. An analysis of the main legislative and regulatory documents on the establishment of Ukrzaliznytsia and the Ministry of Transport of Ukraine. A new look at the institutional transformations in the field of railway transport during the transition from (administrative-command) planned management to a market economy is proposed. The key problems of railway transport development for a certain period are identified, it is proved that the main achievement of the first 10 years of operation of the railway of independent Ukraine was the preservation of the integrity of the industry, enshrined in law. Therefore, it became an important and at the same time a turning point, because despite the constant scientific and technical development of the world Ukrzaliznytsia management managed to preserve and optimize the organizational integrity of the industry, but the imperfection of the management system Important historical aspects in the context of the railway management process are analyzed, which gave grounds to state that the decade of Ukraine's independence was a period of reforming the railway complex in the transition from command-administrative to market management system and legislative bases of formation of Ukrzaliznytsia as the main body of railway transport management. The role of individuals in the process of creating a vertical of public administration of Ukrainian railways is determined. The conclusion on the achievements and shortcomings in the process of reforming the national railway transport in this period is formulated.

Abstract This article is dedicated to present the most common word-formation strategies in German railway specialist terminology. The presentation of the most productive morphological nomination strategies in the analysed area is preceded by a short historical outline of the railway industry in Germany. The adumbration of the historical background and hints regarding the current EU environmental plans for railways are intended to expose the importance and relentless currency of the analysis undertaken here. The presented examples, which were extracted from the most extensive industry terminology database, RaiLLexic, have been correlated with their Polish equivalents. This contrastive procedure allows, going further, to draw conclusions about both language systems within which the professional terminology described here is constituted.

Method. To determine the areas for improvement the methods of forming structures of track development of railway stations and their technical and technological evaluation, it is necessary to analyze the known scientific approaches, identify their weaknesses and strengths. Based on the analysis of these approaches to develop generalized procedures for the formation of rational structures of track development and evaluation of technical and technological parameters of railway stations. To develop the first procedure, it is necessary to choose the optimization criterion. Results. The paper analyzes the known scientific approaches to the formation of structures of track development of railway stations and their technical and technological evaluation. As a result, it was determined that the most effective way to calculate the design parameters of railway stations is to use automated design procedures, effective ways to calculate technological parameters and evaluate design decisions is to use simulation methods. The generalized procedures of formation of rational designs of track development of railway stations and their technical and technological estimation are offered. Scientific and practical significance. Improved procedures for the formation of rational structures of track development of railway stations and their technical and technological evaluation, which in contrast to the existing ones are based on determining the costs of the railway station with the cumulative total for the calculation period or project life cycle. The implementation of rational design solutions will ensure the implementation of the specified size of train and shunting operations of railway stations with a sufficient reserve of capacity and minimum costs. In addition, the results of technical and technological assessment of track development structures can be the basis for adjusting certain requirements for the construction of station necks.

Abstract The annual increase in cargo turnover to the Far Eastern seaports contributes to the optimization of the railway infrastructure in order to increase the level of throughput and processing capacity of the Baikal-Amur Mainline and Trans-Siberian Railway facilities. JSC Russian Railways pays special attention to these issues. Organization and promotion of car traffic through the formation of freight trains using the connection technology, “virtual coupling”, heavy and dual trains that move on an ongoing basis is one of the innovative methods for increasing the carrying capacity for highly loaded sections and directions at a level of utilization of their throughput of 0, 8 or more. Under these conditions, the organization of efficient power supply of railway sections and facilities is the main factor influencing the value of the throughput capacity of transport infrastructure facilities. The article presents a technical justification for the measure aimed at increasing the throughput and processing capacity of a section of a railway line, taking into account the stability check of the devices of the traction power supply system. The predicted parameters of the operation of the traction power supply system of the railway line section are given with a promising train schedule.

AbstractBritain's nineteenth-century railway companies traditionally play a central role in histories of the spread of standard Greenwich time. This relationship at once seems to embody a productive relationship between science and capitalism, with regulated time essential to the formation of a disciplined industrial economy. In this narrative, it is not the state, but capitalistic private commerce which fashioned a national time system. However, as this article demonstrates, the collaboration between railway companies and the Royal Greenwich Observatory was far from harmonious. While railways did employ the accurate time the observatory provided, they were also more than happy to compromise the astronomical institution's ability to take the accurate celestial observations that such time depended on. Observing astronomical transits required the use of troughs of mercury to reflect images of stars, but the construction of a railway too near to the observatory threatened to cause vibrations which would make such readings impossible. Through debates over proposed railway lines near the observatory, it becomes clear how important government protection from private interests was to preserving astronomical standards. This article revises our understanding of the role of railway companies in the dissemination of standard time and argues that state intervention was essential to preserving Victorian British astronomical science.

Today, an urgent problem for applicants and employers is to obtain complete and reliable information about the quality of training of students by educational organizations of various levels, including secondary vocational education. One of the most demanded tools is an independent assessment of the quality of education and the creation of ratings of educational organizations. Of interest are the ratings generated by employers, which do not assess formal signs of compliance of the conditions for the implementation of the educational process with regulatory requirements, but include indicators that allow assessing the level of graduates ‘compliance with employers' requirements and the demand for graduates in the transport industry.The All-Russian Industry Association of Railway Transport Employers (Zheldortrans) this year for the first time held a rating of educational organizations that implement programs of secondary vocational education in railway specialties. This rating included the main indicators that allow assessing the quality of personnel training for railway transport enterprises. Information about the goals and criteria of rating formation, as well as its results is provided. According to the results of the work of the expert commission, formed from representatives of Zheldor-trans and the Russian Railways holding, the Chelyabinsk Institute of Railways, a branch of the Ural State University of Railways, was recognized as the best educational organization that implements training programs for specialists in secondary vocational education in the areas of rail transport.

It is well known that the shift of transporting bulk cargo from roads to railways is an important measure to reduce carbon emissions of the overall transportation systems. In order to increase the attractiveness of railway transport, companies usually provide some discounts to the customers with great transport demand so that entire trains can be operated. Since the operation of entire trains can reduce the reclassification times of shipments, the expenses of railway operations can be reduced. However, when the volume of shipment is not sufficient, the door-to-door direct transportation (in the railway industry specifically, “door-to-door” means running trains from supplier’s warehouse to customer’s warehouse) of the entire train often leads to a decrease in the frequency of delivery, which increases the average stock of users, thus increasing the inventory cost of users. Therefore, how to balance the pros and cons of the two is exactly the problem to be studied. In this paper, the optimal operation plan is obtained by minimizing the total cost of the stockholding of suppliers and customers, as well as the transportation costs of an entire train and non-direct train. Based on the classic economic order quantity (EOQ) model, a 0-1 integer programming model with the constraint of the maximum stock level is proposed to solve this problem. And an innovative approach is used to calculate the actual average stock of the customer. Finally, the model is validated and its effectiveness is confirmed using a real-world case, which is carried out using data from the China rail system.

This paper presents a transient-dynamic method (TDM), to investigate the dynamic responses of a railway formation under a train moving load using a three-dimensional finite element model. First, the feasibility of the TDM was verified, by comparing the vertical stress in a railway formation calculated using this method with the steady-state method (SSM). Next, the effects of train speed and embankment stiffness on the dynamic response of the railway formation were evaluated using TDM. The numerical results indicated that the vertical displacement/stress of the railway formation were remarkably increased with an increased train speed, within the shear wave velocity of the soft soil. In contrast, the vertical displacement/stress attenuation with the depth of the ground caused by high-speed trains was faster than that caused by low-speed trains. As for the effect of embankment stiffness, the enhancement of embankment stiffness had little effect on the transfer of vertical stress to the underlying soil. Finally, a determination of the dynamic stress for different train speeds was evaluated. This design code may underestimate the dynamic stress in a railway formation in high-speed situations (e.g., v = 112 m/s).

Central to this formation were the engineers who oversaw and regulated both public and private railways. Recently, historians have begun to re-examine engineers’ roles in this period. By employing methods and theoretical framings from the history of technology, this article argues that engineering was an important framework through which state–capital relations evolved, making engineers pivotal actors in the evolution of political economy at the time.

The main principles and objectives of the internal audit, information base and main tasks are revealed. The authors’ classification of types of internal audit at the enterprises of railway transport is offered. It has been determined that for conducting internal audit at the enterprises of railway transport, it is necessary to use general scientific and special methods and techniques. The authors gave a comprehensive description and specific recommendations for their application. The goals of the internal audit department (committee) at the enterprises of railway transport are singled out separately. It is determined that during the work the internal audit department receives a lot of information from internal and external sources. The authors’ mechanism of conducting internal audit at the enterprises of railway transport is prepared.

The implementation of the strategy of re-industrialization of national economies is now the main trend in both Europe and Asia. In this context, railways are of great importance, as a mode of transport, capable of carrying large volumes of cargo and passengers with a sufficiently high speed. Special attention is paid to the innovative development of transport corridors connecting Europe and Asia to a single transport network. Mainly this paper is devoted to the financial aspects of the development of Ukrainian railway infrastructure, which has a significant transit potential. It is shown that underfunding of renewal of fixed assets of railways leads not only to the intensification of current problems, but to the formation of problems that will have a decisive influence in the future. The high cost of projects related to the innovative development of the railway infrastructure necessitates the attraction of private capital. The types of public-private partnership models as a mechanism for investment financing are considered. It has been determined that for the railway transport the most feasible are the BOT (build-operate-transfer) and BOOT (built–own–operate–transfer) models, which allow to ensure the innovative development of strategic infrastructure sites and maintain its integrity, by keeping it in state ownership.

Abstract High quality of railway track construction is a major priority. One of the quality elements is the resistance to load of railway formation with individual structural layers caused by negative temperatures during the critical freezing period of winter. Numerical modelling allows obtaining more control outputs at different climatic loads. The presented paper shows the load of railway track model with different variants of climate and shows the importance in the designing of the non-transport load under negative temperatures, i.e. observation of transition of the zero isotherm through the layers of railway subgrade. If the subgrade layers of the railway formation are built with high quality and durability then the axis of the track will keep its geometric spatial position during the long-time operation.

Abstract. The article considers main technical characteristics, indicators of dynamic qualities and parameters of braking effciency of special railway rolling stock of container cars (container transporters) intended for the transportation of radioactive materials — spent nuclear fuel. In accordance with the current regulatory documents of JSC Russian Railways, it is currently allowed forming special trains exclusively from container transporters of any one type, which is associated with the peculiarities of the technology for handling and transporting spent nuclear fuel, which is within the competence of the state corporation Rosatom. However, this signifcantly increases the timing of the delivery of special trains due to the need to wait for the readiness of transporters, due to the non-simultaneous delivery of any one type of assembly kits with spent nuclear fuel. The practice of handling has shown that the transportation of some types of spent nuclear fuel can be carried out with a combination of the transport operation, which implies the combination of various types of container transporters in one echelon, but at the same time it is necessary to correct certain regulatory documents of Russian Railways. For this purpose, at the request of the Rosatom corporation, a necessary set of experimental works was carried out. Authors presented results of control running dynamic, stationary and running braking tests of container transporters of various types, following as part of the same echelon, on the infrastructure of the Test Loop of JSC “VNIIZHT”, including when running along the frst ring track and along various combinations of turnouts along a tangent line (main) and lateral directions. It has been experimentally proved that it is possible to operate container transporters of various types as part of the same echelon in compliance with the conditions for ensuring traffc safety in accordance with the standards of dynamic qualities and braking effciency. Based on the test results, a regulatory document of JSC Russian Railways was developed — the Regulation on the conditions for joint operation of special freight cars (transporters) as part of one echelon, approved by the order of JSC Russian Railways dated July 22, 2021 No. 1591/r. components. Purpose. The aim of the article is defining the principles of strategic management of the development of railway enterprises in the context of future changes in the railway industry. Methodology of research. The theoretical and methodological basis for the study of strategic management in the railway industry is considered on the basis of the experience of domestic scientists. A comparative analysis of the dynamics of a number of indicators was carried out during the study, such as: the number of carried passengers, volumes of freight transported by rail, etc. The following methods are used: analytical – when considering scientific papers and strategies used in railway transport; graphical method – to reflect the developed generalized model of strategic management of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsya” activity; abstract and logical – in summarizing and formulating conclusions. Findings. The current state of the railway transport enterprise – JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” is analysed, which allowed to evaluate the results of its activity and to identify a number of problems of strategic nature: long-term negative dynamics of cargo transportation; depreciation of fixed assets, especially rolling stock and infrastructure; low competitiveness in the European market; imperfect information support; poor adaptability to dynamic environmental conditions and the like. A generalized model of strategic management of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsya” activity was developed based on systematization of data presented in the Strategy of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” for 2019-2023. Originality. Problems and key factors that will influence the effective implementation of the JSC Strategy “Ukrzaliznytsia” for 2019-2023 are identified. Practical value. The conducted analysis of the results of the activity of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” in 2017–2018 allowed us to highlight the significant achievements and problems of the enterprise in need of solution. It is determined that the strategic guidelines for the activity of the railway transport company should be formed in the context of achieving its mission, taking into account the interests of the stakeholders and respecting corporate values. AbstractPolygonisation is a common nonuniform wear phenomenon occurring in railway vehicle wheels and has a severe impact on the vehicle–track system, ride comfort, and lineside residents. This paper first summarizes periodic defects of the wheels, including wheel polygonisation and wheel corrugation, occurring in railways worldwide. Thereafter, the effects of wheel polygonisation on the wheel–rail interaction, noise and vibration, and fatigue failure of the vehicle and track components are reviewed. Based on the different causes, the formation mechanisms of periodic wheel defects are classified into three categories: (1) initial defects of wheels, (2) natural vibration of the vehicle–track system, and (3) thermoelastic instability. In addition, the simulation methods of wheel polygonisation evolution and countermeasures to mitigate wheel polygonisation are presented. Emphasis is given to the characteristics, effects, causes, and solutions of wheel polygonisation in metro vehicles, locomotives, and high-speed trains in China. Finally, the guidance is provided on further understanding the formation mechanisms, monitoring technology, and maintenance criterion of wheel polygonisation.

The soil engineering geological characteristics and hidden fault creep activity are the main geological factors affecting the stability of the Beijing–Zhangjiakou high-speed railway foundation. In order to reveal the deep formation structure and physical and mechanical properties of the soil under the Beijing–Zhangjiakou high-speed railway foundation and explore the influence of soil settlement under the static load and dynamic load of high-speed railways, according to the deep-hole engineering geological drilling and soil test, this paper reveals the soil structure and physical and mechanical properties within a 500 m buried depth of the Huailai section of the Beijing–Zhangjiakou high-speed railway. Based on the drilling data, we constructed a 3D geological structure model across fault segments to study the influence mechanism of the dynamic load of trains on differential ground settlement. The results show that the basic physical and mechanical parameters of all kinds of soil have little change with the increase of buried depth, and the ratio of secondary consolidation index Cs to compression index Cc is 0.0036–0.0516. Under the dynamic load of a high-speed train, the vertical displacement of soil gradually decreases with the increase of depth, which mainly affects the soil within a 50 m depth. Within the influence range, the vertical displacement at a certain point is negatively correlated with the speed of a high-speed railway and the horizontal distance from the railway line and the fault. The research results are expected to provide scientific support for the safe operation of the Beijing–Zhangjiakou high-speed railway.

<p>The railway process (1854-1940) in Andalucia contributed to the formation of a new territorial structure. The railway, built and used, was also a means of production: business networks, flows of raw materials and people, energy technologies that shaped the land and also were shaped by it. In this sense, the railroad, produced and producer of various changes, cannot be understood without its productive forces, including knowledge and technology, the working class, the superstructure of society, the State and nether can't be separated from nature, where the topography and hydrology played important role. These factors are combined, juxtaposed, are interspersed, engage and sometimes collide, creating what might be called the " rail rhizome", a hyper complex space, intervened and shaped by a diversity of actors.<br />This paper presents a new interpretation of the Andalucia railway heritage through the application of a Geographic Information System (GIS), which based on the historical creation of a spatial data infrastructure (SDI) of railways in Andalucia, open and expands its spatiotemporal vision.</p>

The article considers the mechanism of using the corporate model of competencies in Russian Railways as one of the tools for implementing the mission and the company’s strategy. The succession of this competence model to the company’s brand values is given. The analysis of the system and the training process of the structural divisions of the holding company — Road management service and The Center for Evaluation, Monitoring of Staff and Youth Policy of Krasnoyarsk Railways as one of the spheres of application of the model in question, which revealed a gap in the functions of the management cycle “control-planning” and proposed measures to reduce the cost of additional training for key employees of the company on the example of the Krasnoyarsk railway.
