This study aims to obtain a picture of the achievement of mathematical reasoning abilities of students who obtain PBL learning in terms of cognitive fields dependent and field independent. This research is a quasi-experiment involving 97 first semester students. Analysis of the study used one way ANAVA. The research instruments were cognitive style tests and mathematical reasoning abilities tests. The results of the study concluded that there are differences in students' mathematical reasoning abilities that have field dependent and field independent cognitive styles, that is, students with independent field cognitive styles have better mathematical reasoning abilities compared to students with field dependent cognitive styles.

This Indonesian quasi-experimental study investigated the effectiveness of a 60-day entrepreneurial programme designed to reduce the trauma of business failure experienced by students when undertaking entrepreneurial projects. Data from pre-and post- questionnaires and journals were analysed using independent T-Tests and paired T-Tests. The results showed that there was a significant reduction in the trauma of business failure in participants after participation in the programme.

Quasi-static tension tests, quasi-static compression tests and dynamic compression tests were conducted to investigate the mechanical properties, constitutive behaviors and failure criteria of aluminum-polytetrafluoroethylene-tungsten (Al-PTFE-W) reactive materials with W content from 20% to 80%. The analysis of the quasi-static test results indicated that the strength of the materials may be independent of the stress state and W content. However, the compression plasticity of the materials is significantly superior to its tension plasticity. W content has no obvious influence on the compression plasticity, while tension plasticity is extremely sensitive to W content. Dynamic compression test results demonstrated the strain rate strengthening effect and the thermal softening effect of the materials, yet the dynamic compression strengths and the strain rate sensitivities of the materials with different W content show no obvious difference. Based on the experimental results and numerical iteration, the Johnson–Cook constitutive (A, B, n, C and m) and failure parameters (D1~D5) were well determined. The research results will be useful for the numerical studies, design and application of reactive materials.

This research was conducted at SDN Sidoklumpuk Sidoarjo. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Balanced Literacy model on Indonesian language learning outcomes for third-grade students at SDN Sidoklumpuk Sidoarjo. This research includes quantitative research where the data generated is in the form of numbers. The research data were calculated using SPSS software version 16. This type of research is quasi-experimental research (quasi-experimental) with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Data collection techniques used in this study were interviews and tests. The data analysis technique used a validity test, reliability test, normality test, homogeneity test, and different test t-tests (independent sample test). The results of the study stated that from the results of testing the research hypothesis, there was an effect of the Balanced Literacy Model on Indonesian language learning outcomes in third-grade students at SDN Sidoklumpuk Sidoarjo. This is evidenced by the value on the different t-tests (independent sample test) which shows that sig 0.006 0.05 then Ho is rejected or Ha is accepted. So it can be concluded that the hypothesis Ha states there is an effect of the Balanced Literacy Model on the learning outcomes of Indonesian class III students

Using a quasi-experiment, this research looks at grades and student satisfaction over the course of six semesters in a college-level writing class. Three of the classes were taught traditionally, and the other three classes utilized the flipped classroom concept. All classes were taught by the same instructor. Using independent samples t tests, results indicate that students received higher grades and had more satisfaction in the traditional classroom.

We present an end-to-end and practical randomness amplification and privatisation protocol based on Bell tests. This allows the building of device-independent random number generators which output (near-)perfectly unbiased and private numbers, even if using an uncharacterised quantum device potentially built by an adversary. Our generation rates are linear in the repetition rate of the quantum device and the classical randomness post-processing has quasi-linear complexity – making it efficient on a standard personal laptop. The statistical analysis is also tailored for real-world quantum devices. Our protocol is then showcased on several different quantum computers. Although not purposely built for the task, we show that quantum computers can run faithful Bell tests by adding minimal assumptions. In this semi-device-independent manner, our protocol generates (near-)perfectly unbiased and private random numbers on today's quantum computers.

Low cognitive learning outcomes of students can hinder student learning processes. This obstacle occurs because the learning method has yet to facilitate student learning trajectories resulting in low cognitive mathematics learning outcomes for students. The purpose of this research was to determine the impact of the MathMagic learning method on the mathematics cognitive learning outcomes of the students. The method used in this research was a quasi-experimental research design with a nonequivalent control group design. Data collection was done by test technique of students' cognitive learning outcomes. Data analysis techniques in this study used instrument tests in the form of validity and reliability tests, prerequisite tests in the form of normality tests and homogeneity tests, and hypothesis tests in the form of independent sample t-tests. The results show that the MathMagic learning method influenced students' cognitive learning outcomes in mathematics, especially in adding fractions with different denominators. This MathMagic learning method effectively improves understanding of the basic addition of fractions with unlike denominators.

Stunting is a less chronic nutritional problem. The practice of feeding is one of the factors that contribute to stunting, so there is a need for nutrition education regarding the practice of providing food. This study aims to discuss nutrition education interventions on the practice of feeding mothers who have stunting. The study design used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-posttest design of two groups. The research location was Kerkap health centre as an intervention and Air Lais health centre as a control with a sample of 40 people each. The test used in this study paired-sample t-test and independent t-test. The different tests' results depend on the average meal management between the control groups and comparison with p values of 0,000 and 0.168, and independent tests between the intervention group and the control group of 0,000. Nutrition education is a particular program to improve the practice of family feeding of stunting children.

This study aims to determine the effect of using animated video media through problem-based learning settings on learning outcomes to make fashion patterns. The type of research used is a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design. Variables consist of independent variables and dependent variables. The independent variables are the use of animated video media with problem-based learning model settings and the use of PowerPoint media with problem-based learning model settings. The dependent variable is the result of learning to make fashion patterns. The population of this study was all students of class X Fashion Design for the 2021/2022 academic year in Buleleng Regency, which consisted of 34 people at SMK Negeri 2 Singaraja and SMK Negeri 1 Seririt. The sampling technique uses saturated sampling that is using the entire population. Data were collected by using multiple choice and rubric test techniques. The multiple-choice test instrument has been tested with item validity tests, reliability tests, item difficulty tests, and different power tests. The skill assessment rubric is tested with expert validation. Prerequisites for data analysis in the form of a homogeneity test and normality test. While the analysis of hypothesis testing was carried out using the t-test.

A multi-scale approach for mesh size independent finite element analysis of quasi-brittle material is proposed in this article. The homogenization based multi-scale damage representation is first introduced in obtaining the damage law from micro-cell simulation with consideration of microscopic crack propagation. The key idea to remedy the mesh size sensitivity in the 2D macroscopic finite element analysis is to introduce a damage law directly from the micro-cell simulation, where the micro-cell size should be identical to the macroscopic mesh size. The micro-cells with different sizes are generated and the corresponding simulations are presented in the numerical tests to obtain the micro-cell dependent damage law. The mesh independent finite element analysis results of the notched beam and the double-edge notched specimen affirm the strategy of correcting the mesh sensitivity.

Based on the theory, the success of students in learning is determined by learning model applied by the teacher and students’ independent learning skills. This research is a quasi experimental research with pretest and posttest design. The population of this research was students of class XI SMA N 3 Tebo in 2019/2020 academic year. The sampling technique used cluster random sampling. The research instruments used mathematical cognitive tests and student independent learning questionnaires. The data analysis technique used is two-way variance analysis with 3 × 3 factorial design. Based on the results of this researh, we can concluded that (1) There is a difference in the average of students’ mathematics cognitive skills based on the applied learning model, (2) There are differences in the average of students mathematics cognitive learning outcomes based on the level of independent learning, (3) there is no interaction between Discovery learning model and independent learning towards students’ mathematics cognitive skills.

Proper selection of the quasi-free (QF) break-up channel in a three-body reaction is a key aspect for the applicability of the Trojan Horse Method (THM). The Treiman-Yang (TY) Criterion is a model-independent experimental test for the dominance of the QF mechanism, and hence constitutes one of the strongest validity tests of the THM. An experiment was performed at LNS to apply the test to the d(10B, 7Be α)n reaction. Here, the criterion is described and some preliminary data from the experiment are shown.

Learning objectives are achieved when students actively interact with the learning components arranged by the teacher. One of the learning components that can support the achievement of learning objectives is the learning model. One learning model that can produce open interaction between students is Think Pair Share (TPS). This model gives students the opportunity to think and help with friends. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the TPS learning model on learning outcomes of Geography. This type of research is a quasi-experimental (Quasi Experiment), with a nonquivalent control group design. The research variables consisted of: 1) the dependent variable was student learning outcomes and 2) the independent variable was the TPS learning model. Student learning outcomes are measured using a test consisting of two, namely objective and subjective tests. The instrument used is a multiple choice test, amounting to 40 items. Data analysis used independent T test with SPSS 20.00 for Windows. The results showed that the TPS learning model had an effect on learning outcomes. TPS provides an opportunity for students to develop their analytical skills on a problem and communicate it. Keywords: cooperative learning, think pair share model, and learning outcomes

Additive manufacturing by selective laser melting (AM-SLM) is an advanced manufacturing approach in which a structure is fabricated by successive thin powder layers melted by a focused laser beam. The aerospace and automotive sectors are especially interested in the AMSLM technology that enables quick production of complex and customized structures. AlSi10Mg alloy has been found to be applicable to AM-SLM mainly because good cast-ability, strong weldability and low shrinkage during solidification. While many studies on the quasi-static mechanical properties and the structure of SLM AlSi10Mg were published, there is limited published research focused on the dynamic properties of SLM AlSi10Mg under high rate strains. In addition to that, the shear strength of SLM aluminium alloys is rarely investigated. This study presents an investigation of the AM-SLM AlSi10Mg static and dynamic shear strength and its dependency on build direction. Experiments included quasi-static shear experiments performed according to the protocol of ASTM B565, and dynamic shear tests performed using a split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB), coupled to innovative punch assembly that generates pure dynamic shear loads on the sample. The design of this sample holder has been validated numerically and an experimentally. The quasi-static experiments revealed that the static shear strength is independent of build direction. In contrast, the dynamic tests demonstrated that the dynamic shear strength of vertically built samples is higher by almost 11% than the shear strength of samples built horizontally. This last phenomenon explained with a suggested mechanism based onelectron microscope fractography.

The quasi-linear viscoelastic (QLV) model was applied to incremental stress-relaxation tests and an expression for the stress was derived for each step. This expression was used to compare two methods for normalizing stress data prior to estimating QLV parameters. The first and commonly used normalization method was shown to be strain-dependent. Thus, a second normalization method was proposed and shown to be strain-independent and more sensitive to QLV time constants. These analytical results agreed with representative tendon data. Therefore, this method for normalizing stress data was proposed for future studies of incremental stress-relaxation, or whenever comparing stress-relaxation at different strains.

This study aims to determine the effect of using the problem based learning model on learning outcomes and achievement of Pancasila student profiles in class IV students in the 2022/2023 academic year. In this study using a quantitative approach using a research design that is quasi-experimental (Quasi-Experimental Design). The sample of this research was class IVB which consisted of 26 students as the experimental class and class IVA which consisted of 27 students as the control class. The technique of collecting data is through a multiple choice test and a description of the material changing the form of energy and observation sheets as supporting data. The tests used are pre-test and post-test which are used as data on learning outcomes and achievement of the Pancasila student profile towards students. Data analysis techniques were carried out using validation tests, reliability tests, index difficulty level tests, and discriminatory power. Research conducted at SDN 151 Sukasenang, Bandung City, showed that the average post-test score for the experimental class was 88.23, and the average value for the control class was 86.70. By calculating using the Independent sample t-test formula using IBM SPSS Statistics 26 software, the results of the analysis show that tcount = 2.317> ttable = 2.009 and a sig value of 0.025 <0.05. That is, there are differences in the results of the post-test, it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model significantly influences learning outcomes and achievement of Pancasila student profiles.

This study aims at identifying the effect of collaborative problem solving (CPS) learning strategies on students' mathematical reasoning abilities with different cognitive styles, namely field-dependent (FD) and field-independent (FD). This study is a quasi-experimental study with a 2x2 factorial design. A total of 103 students of SMPN 3 Mesuji, Indonesia as research subjects. Mathematical reasoning ability data were obtained from essay tests and cognitive style data were obtained from the GEFT test. Data analysis used two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) test. The results of this study are: 1) there were significant differences in mathematical reasoning abilities between students who received collaborative problem solving and direct instruction learning strategies, 2) there were significant differences in mathematical reasoning abilities between students who had field dependent and field independent cognitive styles, 3) there was no significant interaction between different learning strategies (collaborative problem solving and direct instruction) and cognitive styles (field dependent and field independent) on mathematical reasoning abilities.

The cooperative learning model is one of the learning models currently being developed. This learning model is expected to change and direct students to be better. The purpose of this research is to compare the effect of cooperative learning and conventional learning in their effect on the learning outcomes of elementary school students. This research is a quasi-experimental involving two groups of samples taken randomly. This research involved a sample of 39 grade V elementary school students in clusters 1 and 2 of Marga. Students' science learning outcomes were captured using essay tests and analyzed using independent group t-tests. The results showed that there was a statistically significant effect of cooperative learning and conventional learning on students' science learning outcomes. Thus, cooperative learning is the right learning to use in improving the learning outcomes of elementary school students.

The deformation and fracture behaviors of a bulk amorphous metal, Zr-based one ( Zr 41.2 Ti 13.8 CU 12.5 Ni 10 Be 22.5: Vitreloy), were investigated over a strain rate range (7 × 10-4~4 s -1). The uniaxial compression test and the indentation test using 3mm-diameter WC balls were carried out under the quasi-static loading condition. As a test result, at the uniaxial compression state, the fracture strength of the material was ~1,700MPa and the elastic strain limit was about 2%. The fracture strength showed a strain rate independent behavior up to 4 s-1. Using indentation tests, the plastic deformation behavior of the Zr-based BAM up to a large strain value of 15% could be achieved, even though it was the deformation under locally constrained condition. The Meyer hardness of the Zr-based BAM measured by static indentation tests was about 5 GPa and it revealed negligible strain hardening behavior. At indented sites, the plastic indentation occurred forming a crater and well-developed multiple shear bands were generated around it along the direction of 45° when the indentation load exceeded 7kN. With increasing indentation load, shear bands became dense. The fracture surface of the specimen after uniaxial compressive tests showed vein-like pattern, typical morphology of many BAMs.

The current study aims at investigating the effectiveness of using strategy-based instruction on the student’s listening achievement. This research applied quasi-experimental design, and the instruments were pretest and posttest. Both tests were about putting the pictures in order and form completion. Prior to strategy choice, this study utilized Posteriori Taxonomy of Strategies of Learning English Listening Skill (Zuhairi & Hidayanti, 2014) especially focusing on the use of eight strategy categories deployed by successful students (Hidayanti & Umamah, 2018). Gaining the result from Independent t-Test analysis, it was found out that the experimental group outperformed better than their counterparts in control group. Thus, Strategy-based instruction plays important role to enhance and improve the EFL learners’ listening skill.

The current study aims at investigating the effectiveness of using strategy-based instruction on the student’s listening achievement. This research applied quasi-experimental design, and the instruments were pretest and posttest. A geometrically nonlinear formulation to analyze structures in the hypotheses of large displacements and rotations and small strains is presented. In this formulation, applied to low-order elements and based on the total Lagrangian kinematics, the use of the rotation matrices is bypassed. A selectively based definition of the strain tensor, used in order to avoid shear-locking problems, is effected by the linear definition of deformations because it is element reference system independent. In addition, complex manipulations required to obtain conservative descriptions and well-posed transformation matrices are avoided. Numerical tests have been carried out to validate the developed technique both in the statical and in the quasi-statical context.

ObjectivesThe purpose of this study was investigating the effectiveness of rTMS (repetitive transcranial of magnetic stimulation) on increase social performance in patients with recurrent major depression.MethodIt was used a quasi-experimental, pretest–posttest design with control group, a sample consisting of 32 patients who had depression on the basis of DSM-IV diagnostic criteria, SCID and BDI-II scales and were randomly assigned to two groups.The experimental group underwent 20 sessions of rTMS as the independent factor and both groups (control & experimental) had 12-session psychotherapy and drugs treatment. Upon the intervention, both groups were tested with two tests (BDI-II & SASS). To determine the effect of the independent factor on the dependent factor of rTMS.Data were analyzed by t-test.ResultsThe comparison between pre- & posttest of all the tests showed the reduction of signs & symptoms of depression, (a = 0/05) (Beck scale P ≤ 0/001 & F = 30) and increase social performance in participants (P ≤ 0/001 & F = 83).ConclusionThe rTMS is effect in the reduction of signs & symptoms of depression and increase social functioning in recurrent major depression.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Introduction: malnutrition is still a problem in Indonesia. The general objective of this study was to determine the effect of health education media (video and print media) on parents' knowledge, attitudes and skills regarding nutrition before and after the intervention. Methods: quasi-experimental research design, the sample is parents who have preschool and preschool age children with a total of 60 respondents (30 people in the intervention group and 30 people in the control group); independent variables: parental characteristics and child characteristics, and dependent variable: parental knowledge, parental attitudes and parental skills; The instruments were in the form of demographic data and questionnaires about knowledge, attitudes, and skills regarding nutrition in the elderly, analysis tests using univariate analysis (frequency distribution) and bivariate (t dependent and independent tests). The results of the study showed that there was an increase in parents' knowledge, attitudes and skills regarding nutrition in children. Conclusion: health education media (video and print media) can increase parents' knowledge, attitudes, and skills about nutrition in children, although not significantly. Implication: health education media (video and print media) can be used alternative to increase knowledge, attitudes, and skills about nutrition in children.

Abstract The main objective of this experimental study is to determine the effect of low temperatures on the mechanical behaviour of Strenx 960 Plus high-strength structural steel at different strain rates and stress triaxialities. For this purpose, a comprehensive experimental campaign was designed to characterise the material at a wide range of temperatures and loading rates. The stress triaxiality was varied by testing specimens with different geometry. First, to determine the ductile-to-brittle transition temperature, instrumented Charpy V-notch impact tests were carried out at a range of temperatures from + 20 °C down to − 90 °C. The impact energy dropped gradually with decreasing temperature, but a clear transition temperature could not be identified. A fractography study exhibited a clear dimple structure, revealing predominantly ductile fracture at all temperatures. Then, uniaxial tension tests on smooth and pre-notched axisymmetric specimens under both quasi-static and dynamic loading rates were carried out at room temperature and low temperatures. These tests were conducted to characterise the rate-dependence of the stress–strain behaviour and the failure strain. The results revealed that under quasi-static conditions the flow stress increased with decreasing temperature, while the failure strain was nearly independent of the temperature. Dynamic tensile tests using the same specimen geometries were conducted in a split Hopkinson tension bar at + 20 °C and − 40 °C. The material exhibited a positive strain rate sensitivity at all investigated temperatures. This experimental study reveals that the Strenx 960 Plus steel retains its ductility at temperatures as low as − 40 °C. Brittle failure could not be observed even with combined high strain rate, high stress triaxiality and low temperature.

Despite the great appreciation on high competency in ESL reading, the results of PISA reading cautioned on the ineptitude of Malaysian ESL learners and depicted the heightened prevalence of reading difficulties among them. Although various curriculum modifications and ESL reading interventions were developed to facilitate reading instruction in the classroom, learners’ reading performance is still unsatisfactory. This ten-week quasi-experimental study tested an inquiry-based reciprocal teaching module which was aimed at enhancing secondary school learners’ reading comprehension through the utilisation of effective reading strategies. A total of 84 Form Four ESL learners were randomly selected to be the participants, with an equal number of 42 participants randomly assigned to either experimental or control group. Independent sample t-tests and paired sample t-tests were performed to test the hypotheses. The results indicated that the inquiry-based reciprocal teaching module has positively and significantly enhanced ESL learners’ reading comprehension performance, thus was effective in improving the learners’ reading comprehension.

Prior research suggests that parents of Hispanics, English learners, and students living in poverty exercise school choice less frequently than other parents, which may be a factor in the resegregation of public schools. This quasi-experimental, causal–comparative design tests whether ethnicity, language dominance, or socioeconomic status of the student are related to the exercise of parental choice of magnet middle school programs in a majority, minority community. The primary finding was that in this Hispanic, English learner, low-income majority California community, none of the independent variables studied predicted the exercise of parental magnet school choice. The discussion compares these findings with prior studies and suggests some possible explanations.

Sectio Caesarea is surgery to give a birth of a fetus through the abdominal wall. This surgery has an impact on the pain that is caused by the incision. Pain management ncluding the usagenon-pharmacological and pharmacological approaches. Onenon-pharmacological approaches are breathing in relaxation techniques and foot-hand massage techniques. The purpose of this study was to look at the effectiveness of breathing relaxation and foot and hand massage techniques for postpartum caesarean delivery in Langsa Hospital in 2018. The designs used in this study were quasi-experimental, pre-test and post-test designs Tests used in bivariate analysis with statistical tests Paired sample t-test and t-test Independent. The results of the Statistical Test using the Independent T-test obtained an effective Foot And Hand Massage technique for reducing pain intensity with a P value of 0,000. Foot and hand massage techniques can promote blood circulation, reduce pain, reduce the number of drugs and side effects. Hand and foot massage techniques are cheaper, low risk, and easy to apply. AbstrakSectio Caesarea (SC) merupakan tindakan pembedahan sebagai upaya lahirnya janin melalui dinding abdomen. Tindakan pembedahan berdampak terhadap munculnya rasa nyeri akibat irisan. Penatalaksanaan nyeri diantaranya menggunakan pendekatan farmakologis dan non farmakologis. Salah satu pendekatan non farmakologis adalah teknik relaksasi nafas dan foot and hand massage. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah melihat efektifitas teknik relaksasi pernapasan dan foot and hand massage pada ibu pasca salin section caesarea di RSUD Langsa Tahun 2018. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Quasi eksperimen, pre-test and post-test desain. Uji yang digunakan pada analisis bivariat dengan uji statistic Paired sample t-test dan uji T-Independent. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa hasil Uji Statistik mengunakan Uji Independen T-test didapatkan teknik foot and hand massage efektif untuk pengurangan intensitas nyeri dengan nilai P value 0,000. Teknik pijat kaki dan tangan dapat meningkatkan sirkulasi darah, mengurangi rasa sakit, mengurangi jumlah obat dan efek samping. Teknik foot and hand massage lebih murah, berisiko rendah, dan mudah diterapkan.

Three important issues surround testing for a unit root in practice: uncertainty as to whether or not a linear deterministic trend is present in the data; uncertainty as to whether the initial condition of the process is (asymptotically) negligible or not, and the possible presence of nonstationary volatility in the data. Assuming homoskedasticity, Harvey, Leybourne, and Taylor (2011, Journal of Econometrics, forthcoming) propose decision rules based on a four-way union of rejections of quasi-differenced (QD) and ordinary least squares (OLS) detrended tests, both with and without a linear trend, to deal with the first two problems. In this paper we first discuss, again under homoskedasticity, how these union tests may be validly bootstrapped using the sieve bootstrap principle combined with either the independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) or wild bootstrap resampling schemes. This serves to highlight the complications that arise when attempting to bootstrap the union tests. We then demonstrate that in the presence of nonstationary volatility the union test statistics have limit distributions that depend on the form of the volatility process, making tests based on the standard asymptotic critical values or, indeed, the i.i.d. bootstrap principle invalid. We show that wild bootstrap union tests are, however, asymptotically valid in the presence of nonstationary volatility. The wild bootstrap union tests therefore allow for a joint treatment of all three of the aforementioned issues in practice.

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning model in improving students' problem solving abilities. This is a quasi-experimental study using the Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. Students in seventh grade at SMP Negeri 32 Pekanbaru comprised the whole study population. In this research, the sample comprised two classes: VII3 as the experimental class and VII1 as the control class. This study utilizes the beginning mathematical ability test (KAM) and the mathematical problem-solving ability test as its instruments. The class of the sample was determined using the KAM test findings. The data were evaluated using the similarity test of two independent sample t-tests, which was preceded by tests for normality and homogeneity of variance. Students who participated in Problem-Based Learning had greater growth in their ability to solve mathematical problems than students who participated in conventional learning.

This study aims to see if Telegram can help students improve their speaking skills and if there are statistically significant differences in speaking performance based on gender. In a quasi-experimental study, the researcher conducted pre-test and post-test evaluations of the speaking performance of 23 male and female students. Following the pre-tests, three weeks of speaking activities were carried out via the Telegram application. The mean and standard deviation of students' speaking test scores were calculated, and the results of the pre-tests and post-test results were analysed using an independent sample t-test and paired t-test. The findings revealed statistically significant differences in speaking performance between pre-test and post-test but no statistically significant differences in speaking performance between male and female students. As a result, it was suggested that the Telegram application helps students improve their speaking skills and Arabic language development.

This study aims to identify the effect of foot bath intervention on reducing symptoms of peripheral neuropathy in patients undergoing chemotherapy. The method used is a quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test with a control group design. Data was collected using a Chemotherapy Induced Peripheral Neuropathy Assessment Tool (CIPNAT) questionnaire with a total sample of 66 patients consisting of 33 patients in the intervention group and 33 patients in the control group selected by consecutive sampling technique. The data obtained were analyzed using paired t-tests and t-tests for independent groups. The results showed a difference between the mean value of peripheral neuropathy symptoms in the intervention group and the control group after treatment with a p-value of 0.0001 (p<0.05). In conclusion, a foot bath effectively reduces peripheral neuropathy symptoms in breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. This study aims to determine the differences in students' mathematical representations through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by GeoGebra and Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) models, differences in the mathematical representation of students through GeoGebra-assisted PBL models with the RME model in terms of learning styles Field Independent (FI) and Field Field (FI) Dependent (FD). The research used was Quasi-experimental research. The population is grade XII students, and the sample used is the science class 1, and science 2. The data were collected by tests. Data analyzed using variance and independent t-test. This research results in a difference between students' mathematical representation through the GeoGebra-assisted PBL model and the RME model.The difference in students' mathematical representation through the GeoGebra-assisted PBL model and the model of the RME in terms of the FI learning style. At the same time, for FD, there is no significant difference.

This study aims to analyze the effect of the 5E learning cycle model assisted by LKPD based on a three-dimensional thinking graph on scientific reasoning and the improvement of scientific reasoning. The research method was a quasi-experiment using a non-equivalent control group design. The research subjects consisted of 32 students of class VII SMP. The research instruments were tests and data analysis techniques used: the normality test, the independent sample t-test, and the N-gain test. This study's results showed that the Independent Sample T-Test test obtained a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000, which means there was a significant effect. The N-gain test results showed a value of 0.51 with moderate criteria. It showed that the 5E learning cycle model assisted by LKPD based on a three-dimensional thinking graph influences scientific reasoning which was shown by an increase in students' scientific reasoning scores.

This study intended to investigate the effects of Assessment as Learning (AaL) strategy on satisfaction of academic performance and motivational beliefs of ESL (English as Secondary Language) students of Public sector school. Using the quasi-experimental pre-post-test control group design, and assessment strategy recommended by Lee and Mak (2014), this study examined the effects of Assessment as Learning (AaL) on students’ studying ESL writing skills in Argumentative Essay. Through the convenience sampling technique, 60 ninth standard students were selected to participate in the study. Students' performance was analyzed with the help of Argumentative Essay Test and Motivation was investigated by using Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ). Both control and experimental groups were trained through traditional teaching ESL strategies; however, experimental group students practiced an additional intervention identified as "Assessment as Learning (AaL)" strategy. After seven weeks of study, both groups' performance and motivation were evaluated through post-tests. The data from pre-tests and post-tests were analysed by Independent Sample t-tests. The results demonstrated that the experiment group’s academic scores and motivation were significantly higher, thus the implementation of AaL practice is recommended to raise self-regulation and performance of students.

The purpose of this study was to analyze and explore the effectiveness of constructivism approaches in improving mathematical communication skills of junior high school students in the city of Paser. The experimental quasi method was used in this study to test the hypothesis of the study. The sample of the study at three junior high schools in Paser City, representing high, medium and low school students.. The instruments used in this study were pre-post test, pre-post questionnaires, and observation. The data were analyzed using independent sample t-tests, paired sample tests, annova tests, and descriptive analysis. The findings of pre-post test and pre-post questionnaire analysis using t-test showed that there were significant differences in group mathematical communication skills using constructivism approach compared to groups using conventional approaches at all achievement levels of high school students (high, simple and low). Based on the observation, it is found that high achievement school students have good mathematical communication skills in mathematical communication, these are identified in many aspects and observation indicators achieved by students during learning.

This study aims to determine how the influence of the open-ended problem approach to the students’ mathematics learning outcomes at grade VII SMP Muhammadiyah Walattasi, Soppeng Regency. The researcher used 2 classes; experimental and control class. This study used a Nonequivalent Control Group Design with quasi-experimental type. The research population is students of grade VII SMP Muhammadiyah Walattasi, Soppeng Regency. Learning outcome data is processed using independent T-test samples through normality prerequisite tests (Kolmogorof Smirnov) and homogeneity tests for variance in statistical tests with significance level (α = 0 .05). Data were processed by utilizing SPSS version 23 software. The results of hypothesis testing indicated that Tcount Ttable or 4,561 2,011, like to see sig data. (2 tailed) the experimental class and the control class 0,000 0.05, Based on these results, it could be conclude that there is an influence of the open-ended problem approach to the students’ mathematics learning outcomes at grade VII SMP Muhammadiyah Walattasi, Soppeng Regency. The classes wich are being investigated are class X MIA1 as the control class and class XMIA2 as the experimental class. The data were collected using multiple choice tests. Multiple choice tests was used to measure the cognitive learning outcomes of students and. The data were analyzed using t test (Independent t test). The results show that guided inquiry model has positive effect on students’learning outcomes, based on the result of 2-tailed smaller than 0,05 (0,000 < 0,05), The statistical analysis result means that learning outcomes of experiment class are significantly better than control class. Hence, it is concluded that problem-based learning model has more positive effect than conventional learning model on the critical thinking skills and physics learning outcomes on Senior High School students. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X MIA pada SMAN 2 Dompu. Kelas yang dijadikan tempat penelitian adalah kelas X MIA1 sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas X MIA2 sebagai kelas eksperimen. Pengumpulan data menggunakan tes pilihan ganda. Tes pilihan ganda digunakan untuk mengukur hasil belajar siswa. Uji hipotesis yang digunakan adalah uji-t (Independent t test). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran dengan model Inkuiri Terbimbing berpengaruh positif terhadap hasil belajar siswa berdasarkan hasil nilai signifikansi lebih kecil dari 0,05 (0,000 < 0,05). Hasil analisis statistik tersebut menjelaskan bahwa hasil belajar siswa kelas eksperimen lebih baik secara signifikan daripada kelas kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model Inkuiri Terbimbing lebih berpengaruh positif dibandingkan model konvensional terhadap dan hasil belajar siswa SMA.

This study aims to describe and see the effect of implementing Android-based mind mapping learning media on the fighting power and problem-solving abilities of PGSD University Quality Science. This type of research is quasi-experimental research (quasi-experiment). The sample in this study was class 2A11 consisting of 22 people and class 2A12 consisting of 20 people. The research instruments used were tests and observation sheets of fighting power. The data analysis technique used is an independent test between two factors. Based on data analysis and hypothesis testing, it was found that: (1) There was an increase in the fighting power of Quality University PGSD students after the implementation of Android-based mind mapping learning media (2) The ability to solve science in PGSD University Quality students after the implementation of Android-based mind mapping learning media obtained an average value of Average: 81.25 (3) There is a significant effect through the application of Android-based mind mapping learning media on the fighting power and ability to solve science problems in PGSD University Quality students.

Quasi-static and impact tests were conducted on filament-wound carbon fiber composite pressure vessels to study factors that affect burst pressure. Observed damage included fiber microbuckling, matrix cracking, and delamination. Fiber microbuckling of the outer surface layer near the impact point was the main factor that reduced the burst pressure of the vessels. This type of damage was visually detectable on the surface. For similar levels of missile kinetic energy, the impact damage to filament-wound composite pressure vessels depends on size and shape of the colliding body in the contact area. Burst pressure for a damaged vessel decreases with the ratio of axial length of damaged fibers 1, to vessel wall thickness h, up to a ratio 1/h = 3; beyond this length of damaged section the burst pressure was independent of length of damage. Strain measurements near the region of loading showed that damage related to fiber microbuckling is sensitive to strain rate. At locations where impact damage was predominately due to fiber microbuckling, the failure strain was about six times the strain for microbuckling during quasi-static loading.

Because there are many positive effects of active learning approaches on students’ motivation and achievement, some authors have recommended that these approaches be widely implemented. A research-intensive university located in the Mid-Atlantic US was interested in adopting this instructional technique, and therefore, experimented with it. The purpose of this quasi-experimental study was to compare and contrast the effects of an active learning approach on the motivation of students in a treatment and control group. The results of multiple independent sample t-tests showed that there were no statistically significant differences between the two groups on several motivation constructs. We provide explanations for the lack of significant differences, as well as discuss limitations and future research.

The asymptotic distribution of the Gaussian quasi-maximum likelihood estimator (QMLE) is obtained for a wide class of asymmetric GARCH models with exogenous covariates. The true value of the parameter is not restricted to belong to the interior of the parameter space, which allows us to derive tests for the significance of the parameters. In particular, the relevance of the exogenous variables can be assessed. The results are obtained without assuming that the innovations are independent, which allows conditioning on different information sets. Monte Carlo experiments and applications to financial series illustrate the asymptotic results. In particular, an empirical study demonstrates that the realized volatility can be a helpful covariate for predicting squared returns.

This research aimed to investigate the influence of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model assisted by Zoom Cloud Meeting on learners' critical thinking skills. This research employed a quasi-experimental design. The population of the study was all tenth graders of MAN 2 Tulang Bawang Barat. The samples were class X MIA 2 as the experimental class and class X MIA 3 as the control class. Tests were utilized as the data collecting technique. The researchers performed the normality and homogeneity tests on the research data before performing the independent sample t-test as the hypothesis test. Based on the test results on the Pre-test and Post-test data, the N-gain values tested using the t-test obtained a significance value (2-tailed) of 0, 00. The Contextual Teaching and Learning model assisted by Zoom Cloud Meeting improved students' critical thinking skills. Based on the research, the Contextual Teaching and Learning assisted by Zoom Cloud Meeting could improve students' critical thinking skills.

This study aimed to determine the effect of the inquiry learning model on the learning outcomes of student SMAN 1 Banawa Tengah on buffer solution material. This type of research was a quasi-experimental, with a nonequivalent control group design. The sample used in this study was students of class XI IPA 1 as an experimental class with 34 students and class XI IPA 2 as a control class with 34 students. Testing of the research data used 2-party t-test with prerequisite tests, normality and homogeneity tests. The results of data analysis obtained, the average value of the experimental class was 75.5 and the control class was 66.97. The results of hypothesis testing with independent sample t test obtained that sig value (p) = 0.010 with the test criteria α = 5% (0.05), then H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted, so it can be concluded that the inquiry learning model influences students’ learning outcomes.

Background: The mean arterial pressure (MAP) is the average arterial pressure during one cardiac cycle (systole, and diastole). MAP is affected by cardiac output and systemic vascular resistance, each of which is affected by several factors. Objective: This aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of hypno-pressure on Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) in patients with cardiovascular disorders. Methods: A quasi-experimental research design with a pretest-posttest with a control group was used in this study. Purposive sampling was used to select 56 respondents for this study, and twenty-eight respondents were randomly assigned to the experiment and control groups. The bedside monitor was used to measure MAP. Paired t-tests and Independent t-tests were used for data analysis. Results: There was a significant effect of hypno-pressure on the decrease of MAP value in patients with cardiovascular disorder with p-value 0.000 (<0.05), t = 7.217, and effect size of 1.18. Conclusion: Hypno-pressure could reduce MAP in patients with cardiovascular disorders.

The sequencing of items and test anxiety on students’ performance on multiple-choice tests was investigated. Data was collected from 105 students from the College of Education for the study. A quasi-experimental design was used and 50-test item questions were used for data collection. One-way repeated measures analysis of variance, independent t-test, and Two-way ANOVA were used. The results show that there was an effect of item sequencing on student performance. Moreover, test anxiety affected student performance. Furthermore, the result found that there was an interaction between the sequencing of items and test anxiety on student performance. The study, therefore, recommended that tutors in Colleges of Education should use Easy to Hard item order. The study further recommended that tutors should encourage students to develop appropriate learning habits that will minimize their anxiety when taking tests. Finally, the study recommended that Colleges should organize seminars for tutors on how to manage students’ anxiety. Scholars Middle East Publishers

This quasi-experimental research aims to determine the effect of Think Pair Check (TPC) learning models on understanding of mathematical concepts in terms of cognitive style. A purposive sampling technique was used to select a sample of 54 students from a junior high school in Patamuan sub-district, Indonesia. The data were obtained from mathematical concept understanding tests and Group Embedded Figure Test (GEFT) to determine students' cognitive styles. Data were analyzed using t-test. The findings indicated that students who learned using TPC method had a better understanding of concepts than those learning using the conventional model. Furthermore, the TPC learning model positively influenced the understanding of mathematical concepts of students with the Field Independent cognitive style but had no influence on students with the Field Dependent cognitive style. Therefore, the TPC learning model can be used to improve the understanding of mathematical concepts, especially for students with the Field Independent cognitive style.

This research aims to examine the impact of animated video on scientific literacy of junior high school students. Using a quasi-experimental research design with a non-equivalent control group design. The research was carried out at Wonomerto 1 state junior high school, with a population of class VII students in the even semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. The research sample consisted of the experiment class and the control class. Techniques and instruments of data collection using tests, observations, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique used a normality test, Independent T-test, and right-hand t-test. The results of the Independent Sample T-test of students’ scientific literacy abilities obtained a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000 and the results of the right-hand t-test that the tcount > ttable value was 5,345 > 1,684. The results showed that learning science using animated videos had a significant effect on scientific literacy for junior high school students

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan buku ajar IPA berbasis Sains Teknologi Masyarakat (STM) di sekolah dasar. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian dan pengembangan. Prosedur pengembangan meliputi dua tahap, yakni studi pendahuluan dan pengembangan prototipe. Subjek penelitian adalah lima orang guru dan 27 peserta didik kelas IV sekolah dasar untuk tahap ujicoba terbatas. Sampel untuk uji coba luas sebanyak 49 peserta didik dengan desain praeksperimental dan untuk uji efektivitas dengan desain quasi eksperimen sebanyak 43 peserta didik. Data kualitatif yang diperoleh dari hasil wawancara, observasi, dan kajian pustaka dianalisis dengan teknik interaktif model Miles dan Huberman untuk memperoleh deskripsi naratif. Data kuantitatif diperoleh dari tes belajar kognitif yang telah memenuhi kriteria validitas dan reliabilitas. Analisis data kuantitatif dilakukan dengan teknik paired dan independent t-test. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa prototipe buku ajar IPA berbasis STM untuk tema sumber daya alam yang dikembangkan sudah layak menurut tinjauan ahli dan direspons baik oleh guru dan peserta didik. Penggunaan bahan ajar IPA berbasis STM secara signifikan mempengaruhi prestasi belajar peserta didik. DEVELOPING SCIENCE TEXTBOOK BASED ON SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY SOCIETYThis study was aimed at developing a science textbook based on Science Technology Society (STM) for primary school. The method used was research and development (R&D). The development procedure included two stages, namely a preliminary study and prototype development. The research subjects were 5 teachers and 27 students in grade IV elementary school for the limited trial phase. The samples for the broad trial were 49 students with a pre-experimental design and for effectiveness tests with a quasi-experimental design were 43 students. Qualitative data obtained from interviews, observations and literature reviews were analyzed using the interactive techniques proposed in the Miles & Huberman model to obtain narrative descriptions. The quantitative data obtained from cognitive learning tests have met the criteria of validity and reliability. The quantitative data analysis was performed using paired techniques and independent t-tests. The results show that the developed prototype of the STM-based science textbook for the theme of natural resources is appropriate according to expert reviews and responded to both by teachers and students. The use of STM-based science teaching materials significantly influences students' learning achievement.

The main concern of this study was to investigate the effects of integrated reading and writing skills instruction on EFL learners' critical thinking skills achievement at Bahir Dar University. At this point, a quasi-experimental research design was employed, and 96 English majoring students as experimental (n = 48) and control (n = 48) groups participated in the study with a random assignment. Herein, the experimental group was instructed through integrated reading and writing skills instruction and the control group with the conventional method for consecutive 12 weeks, and then, 25 (twenty-five) pre and post-tests of critical thinking questions were employed to assess students’ achievement. Data were collected through tests, and then the Kappa inter-rater reliability and split-half tests were employed to compute the reliability and internal consistency of both tests respectively. Finally, the data were analyzed using an independent t-test, and then the result of the pre-test revealed that both experimental and control groups were homogenous in critical thinking skills’ achievement. However, after the treatment, the post-test results depicted that the experimental group significantly outscored the control group. In a nutshell, the study showed the supremacy of integrated reading and writing skills instruction over the conventional approach in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills achievement.
