Our study documents and analyzes the absence of genetic diversity and structure of the Mapleleaf (Quadrula quadrula (Rafinesque, 1820)) (Bivalvia: Unionidae) mussel in the Lake Winnipeg, Assiniboine River, and Red River drainages (Manitoba, Canada). Previous studies have revealed patterns of genetic diversity and structure in the Mississippi and Ohio river drainages, as well as in the Laurentian Great Lakes drainage. Genotypes from six variable microsatellite loci showed that the Q. quadrula population in Manitoba was significantly differentiated from the population in the Great Lakes drainage (Ontario, Canada), supporting the existence of two Designatable Units in Canada. Conversely, there was no evidence of genetic structure within the sampled range of Q. quadrula in Manitoba. The lack of genetic structure in Q. quadrula across its distribution in Manitoba reflected its post-glacial history and use of a vagile host and necessitates that efforts should be made to ensure connectivity and maintain gene flow across the region. Given that the evidence suggests that Manitoba Q. quadrula belong to a single genetic population, movement of hatchery-propagated juvenile Q. quadrula, adult Q. quadrula, or glochidia-carrying host catfish sourced from any location in Manitoba could be used to augment declining populations or at-risk locations in Manitoba.

In 2014 and 2015, 27 sites in Rondeau Bay, Ontario, Canada, were surveyed for freshwater mussels. Rondeau Bay is a large coastal wetland on the north shore of Lake Erie. Twenty-three species were identified from 120 live mussels, 15 fresh whole shells, 329 weathered whole shells, and 1121 weathered valves. Live individuals of the following species were collected: Eastern Pondmussel (Ligumia nasuta; endangered in Canada), Giant Floater (Pyganodon grandis), Round Pigtoe (Pleurobema sintoxia;endangered in Canada), and Three-ridge (Amblema plicata). Fresh whole shells of the Mapleleaf (Quadrula quadrula; threatenedin canada) were also found. Most species (78%), including 7 species at risk, were collected only as weathered shells. These results indicate a substantial decline in freshwater mussel diversity since the Zebra Mussel (Dreissena polymorpha) invasion of Lake Erie. Evidence shows that a viable population of only Giant Floater remains.

Freshwater mussels of the family Unionidae are among the world’s most imperilled animals. A third of Canadian species have been assessed by the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada as Extirpated, Endangered, Threatened, or Special Concern, with losses attributed to natural system modifications such as damming, pollution, exploitation for buttons and pearls, urbanization, and the introduction and subsequent effects of aquatic invasive species. In the Great Lakes basin, the introduction of dreissenid mussels in the 1980s caused catastrophic declines, with remnant populations restricted to lotic riverine habitats. In southwestern Ontario, the Canard River is the largest remaining direct tributary of the Detroit River that could provide a source of mussels to aid natural recovery. In 2019, nine sites in the Canard River were sampled using a timed-search approach (4.5 person-hours/site) with a combination of tactile searching by hand and mussel scoops (7-mm mesh) or underwater viewers. The search yielded 362 individuals of eight species, including two Species at Risk, Mapleleaf (Quadrula quadrula) and Lilliput (Toxolasma parvum), which had never been previously recorded in the Canard River.

Abstract We assessed the influence of geology, land use, and other features on the occurrence of the rare freshwater mussel smooth pimpleback, Quadrula houstonensis, in the Leon River, Texas. Boosted regression trees were used to assess the relationships between the species’ occurrence and potential explanatory variables based on field data from 52 sampling locations. The individual variables that best explained prevalence for this species were downstream distance from reservoirs, percentage of shrubland within the riparian buffer, and percentage of alluvium and aquifer bearing rock-types. These results indicate that smooth pimpleback may be sensitive to flow modification and changes in land use that increase sedimentation. The application of similar modeling efforts to other rare species in this region could help in their management and conservation.

Two new species of Platensina Enderlein, P. rabbanii David & Hancock, sp. nov., and P. flavistigma David & Hancock, sp. nov., are described from Meghalaya and southern India, respectively. Platensina rabbanii can be differentiated from P. alboapicalis Hering by the presence of a single hyaline indentation in cell r1 and the apical hyaline band in cell r2+3 restricted to the apex; P. flavistigma differs from P. quadrula Hardy by the presence of a yellow/fulvous pterostigma and shape of the epandrium. DNA barcode sequences of P. acrostacta (Wiedemann), P. flavistigma and P. platyptera Hendel were obtained and reported. Postabdominal descriptions and illustrations of P. acrostacta, P. platyptera and P. zodiacalis (Bezzi) are also provided along with keys to all 23 species and the 7 known from India.

We examined the usefulness of dendrochronological cross-dating methods for studying long-term, interannual growth patterns in freshwater mussels, including validation of annual shell ring formation. Using 13 species from three rivers, we measured increment widths between putative annual rings on shell thin sections and then removed age-related variation by standardizing measurement time series using cubic splines. Initially, cross dating was a valuable quality control technique allowing us to correct interpretive and measurement errors in 16% of specimens. For all species, growth varied among years but was highly synchronous among individuals. Standardized measurement time series of 94% of individuals were significantly correlated with species master chronologies, and mean interseries correlations ranged from 0.37 to 0.96. Growth was also synchronous among species, even from different rivers, and growth was negatively correlated with mean annual streamflow for most species except Quadrula pustulosa from a regulated dam tailrace. Highly synchronous growth and the strong relationship to streamflow showed that large-scale environmental signals generated non-age-related variation in mussel growth giving strong support for annual formation of the growth increments we measured. Cross dating can be a valuable technique for studying freshwater mussel growth providing quality control, validation of annual rings, and reconstruction of long-term growth histories.

The new thin-walled vasiform dictyospongid hexactinellid, Tiddalickia manitobensis, is described from the Ordovician Red River Formation at McBeth Point on Lake Winnipeg, Manitoba. Vertical spicule bundles are an outer? part of the wall and horizontal spicule bundles an inner? different level within the wall. Bundle quadrules are only half the size of those in Tiddalickia quadrata Rigby and Webby, 1988. A complete anthaspidellid lithistid, Aulocopella winnipegensis Rauff, 1895, is described from a glacial erratic recovered from near Reston, Manitoba.

INTRODUÇÃO: O futebol de salão (futsal) é atualmente o esporte com maior número de praticantes, tanto no Brasil como nos demais países sul-americanos e também na Europa. É derivado do futebol de campo, adaptado pela falta de espaço para se jogar. Pode ser praticado em três tipos distintos de pisos, rigorosamente nivelados, sem declives nem depressões, prevenindo escorregões e acidentes. A movimentação em quadra exige súbita aceleração e desaceleração com bruscas mudanças de direção, expondo as estruturas osteomioarticulares a grandes impactos, aumentando o risco de lesões, que podem dever-se a fatores intrínsecos ou extrínsecos, nos quais se consideram, entre outras coisas, as condições e o tipo do piso utilizado. OBJETIVO: O propósito deste estudo foi analisar as possíveis influências do tipo de piso utilizado no futsal e as respostas adaptativas musculares em praticantes de futsal masculino. MÉTODOS: A amostra foi composta por 10 praticantes de futsal, de 20 a 30 anos de idade. Através da eletromiografia de superfície, foi realizada a captação da atividade elétrica, por meio da raíz quadrada da média (root mean square - RMS) em µV e da força dos principais grupos musculares do membro inferior dominante em repouso depois de duas partidas de futsal, em dois tipos de pisos de quadras. RESULTADOS: Os achados deste estudo, que envolveu parâmetros biomecânicos utilizados, mostraram não haver diferença significativa entre a prática de futsal na quadra de madeira e na quadra sintética, com tendência de aumento da atividade elétrica da musculatura anterior na quadra com piso de madeira e depois com o piso sintético. CONCLUSÃO: É necessário que se façam maiores investigações acerca dos possíveis mecanismos osteomusculares adaptativos que possam desvendar as reações a diferentes tipos de pisos das quadras em esportes como o futsal.

Abstract The quadruple image configurations of gravitational lenses with vanishing ellipticity are examined. Even though such lenses asymptotically approach circularity, the configurations are stable if the position of the source relative to the vanishing diamond caustic is held constant. The configurations are the solutions of a quartic equation, an “asymptotically circular lens equation,” parameterized by a single complex quantity. Several alternative parameterizations are examined. Relative magnifications of the images are derived. When a nonvanishing quadrupole, in the form of an external shear (XS), is added to the singular isothermal sphere (SIS), its configurations emerge naturally as stretched and squeezed versions of the circular configurations. And as the SIS+XS model is a good first approximation for most quadruply lensed quasars, their configurations likewise have only 2 + 1 salient dimensions. The asymptotically circular configurations can easily be adapted to the problem of solar system “occultation flashes.”

Abstract Quasars are quadruply lensed only when they lie within the diamond caustic of a lensing galaxy. This precondition produces a Malmquist-like selection effect in observed populations of quadruply lensed quasars, overestimating the true caustic area. The bias toward high values of the inferred logarithmic area, ln A inf , is proportional to the square of the error in that area, σ ln A 2 . In effect, Malmquist’s correction compensates posthoc for a failure to incorporate a prior into parameter optimization. Inferred time delays are proportional to the square root of the inferred caustic area of the lensing galaxy. Model time delays are biased long, leading to overestimates of the Hubble constant. Crude estimates of σ ln A for a sample of 13 quadruple systems give a median value of 0.16. We identify a second effect, an “inferred magnification bias,” resulting from the combination of selection by apparent magnitude and errors in model magnification. It is strongly anticorrelated with caustic area bias, and almost always leads to underestimates of the Hubble constant. Malmquist’s scheme can be adapted to priors on multiple parameters, but for quad lenses, the negative covariances between caustic area and absolute magnitude are poorly known. Inferred magnification bias may even cancel out caustic area bias, depending upon (among other things) the slope of the number–magnitude relation for the sample. Proper correction for these combined effects can, in principle, be built into Bayesian modeling schemes as priors, eliminating the need for a Malmquist-style approximation, but is likely to be challenging in practice.

Kemiskinan menjadi tanggung jawab pemerintah yang proses pengentasan kemiskinan berbagai macam bentuk program termasuk PKH yang memberikan tranfer tunai sebagai bentuk pemutusan mata rantai kemiskinan. Dengan berjalannya program tersebut maka masih banyak kendala soal tujuan program tersebut. Dikabupaen pasuruan mayoritas KPM PKH relatif bersikap ketergantungan, Implusif dan juga konsumtif. Tingginya pembelanjaan tercapai saat pasca tranfer subsidi pada tingginya angka konsumsi rokok dan bukan pada kebutuahan dasar keluarga. Hal ini menujadi penyebab akan ketidak siapan KPM PKH untuk graduasi alamian maupun graduasi mandiri, dengan ketidak siapan akan graduasi maka juga berimbas akan program KUBE sebagai keberlanjutan akan ekonomi masyarakat penerima PKH oleh sebab itu pendekatan qudruple helix menjadi sebuah jawaban atas pembagian beban, pengembangan inovasi dan juga perubahan akan karakter KPM PKH yang tidak profuktif. Dalam penelitian menggunakan metodologi kualitatif yang dengan bersumber pada data primer dan skunder. Dari hasil penelitian ini terdapat akan ketidak berhasilan dalam progran KUBE Mandiri sebab program yang dijalakan belum berbasis pada kearifan lokal, dan juga perilaku dan sikap KPM PKH masih pada impulsif, komsumtif dan ketergantungan pada bantuan subsid PKH. Sehingga tidak ada yang terdorong untuk kemandirian ekonomi KPM PKH. Dengan sistem kolaborasi dan kemitraan quadrule helix maka akan mampu mendorong bagi pengembangan masyarakat Penerima PKH untuk mambu merubah mainseet yang akan memperbaiki sikap dan perilaku untuk lebih mandiri sebagai kemandirian ekonomi PKM yang dilaksanakan rintisan berbasis pada KUBE Mandiri PKM dikabupaten Pasuruan yang lebih maju dan berkembang Kata kunci; KPM PKH, Graduasi Mandiri dan Quadruple Helix

In a previous paper, it was proved that every knot and link has a quadruple crossing projection and hence, every knot has a minimal quadruple crossing number c4(K). In this paper, we investigate quadruple crossing number, and in particular, use the span of the bracket polynomial to determine quadruple crossing number for a variety of knots and links.

By considering an entry (i.e., a number, an idea, an object, etc.) which is represented by a known part ( a ) and an unknown part ( b T , c I , d F ) where T , I , F have their usual neutrosophic logic meanings and a , b , c , d are real or complex numbers, Smarandache introduced the concept of neutrosophic quadruple numbers. Using the concept of neutrosophic quadruple numbers based on a set, Jun et al. constructed neutrosophic quadruple BCK/BCI-algebras and implicative neutrosophic quadruple BCK-algebras. The notion of a neutrosophic quadruple BCI-positive implicative ideal is introduced, and several properties are dealt with in this article. We establish the relationship between neutrosophic quadruple ideal and neutrosophic quadruple BCI-positive implicative ideal. Given nonempty subsets I and J of a BCI-algebra, conditions for the neutrosophic quadruple ( I , J ) -set to be a neutrosophic quadruple BCI-positive implicative ideal are provided.

A neutrosophic set is initiated by Smarandache, and it is a novel tool to deal with vagueness considering the truth, indeterminacy and falsity memberships satisfying the condition that their sum is less than 3. The concept of neutrosophic quadruple numbers was introduced by Florentin Smarandache. Using this idea, Jun et al. introduced the notion of neutrosophic quadruple B C K / B C I -numbers, and studied neutrosophic quadruple B C K / B C I -algebras. As a continuation of Jun et al.’s paper, the notion of implicative neutrosophic quadruple B C K -algebras is introduced, and several properties are investigated. Given a set Y, conditions for the neutrosophic quadruple Y-set N q ( Y ) to be a neutrosophic quadruple B C I -algebra are provided. Conditions for the neutrosophic quadruple Y-set N q ( Y ) to be an implicative neutrosophic quadruple B C K -algebra are provided. Given subsets I and J of a B C K -algebra Y, conditions for the neutrosophic quadruple ( I , J ) -set N q ( I , J ) to be an implicative ideal of the neutrosophic quadruple B C K -algebra N q ( Y ) are discussed.

Inatividade física é comum em pessoas com sobrepeso. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi identificar o efeito agudo do incremento no peso corporal sobre o desempenho nas ações de sentar e levantar do solo e verificar como o mesmo sofria influência de algumas variáveis morfofuncionais. Preliminarmente (E1), 33 soldados, com idade de 20 ± 1,4 anos (média ± dp) e valores homogêneos de IMC (22 ± 1,0kg/m²) e %g (5,3 ± 2,3), foram divididos aleatoriamente em três grupos com 11 integrantes. O Teste de Sentar - Levantar (TSL) foi aplicado, em uma ordem quadrada latina, sem incremento artificial no peso (A0), e com 10% (A10) e 20% de incremento (A20), simulados através da utilização de coletes de areia localizados no tronco. No segundo estudo (E2), 24 jogadores de futebol púberes e pós-púberes (15,4 ± 1,1 anos), aleatoriamente divididos em quatro grupos de seis e com flexibilidade geral similar, medida através do Flexiteste, foram submetidos ao TSL, como em E1, mas também na condição de 30% de incremento no peso (A30). Entre os indivíduos cujo desempenho, em cada ação, se mantinha máximo com o aumento no peso e os demais, compararam-se as flexibilidades geral e específica por movimento em E1, e IMC, S 7 dobras cutâneas, %g, relações cintura-quadril, cintura-coxa e entre dobras cutâneas superiores e inferiores, somatotipo de Heath-Carter, potência de membros inferiores (salto vertical) e tempo em corrida de 50m, em E2. No sentar, o teste de Friedman não identificou diferenças significativas dentre as condições em E1 (p = 0,21) e em E2 (p = 0,07). Mas essas ocorreram, para o levantar, em ambos os estudos (p < 0,001 e p = 0,03). O teste de Tukey demonstrou que somente incrementos de 20% no peso eram suficientes para deteriorar o desempenho em E1 (p < 0,05), e de 30% em E2 (p < 0,05). Em E1, verificou-se que os indivíduos que mantinham desempenho máximo para o sentar eram mais flexíveis na adução de quadril (p < 0,001) e, para o levantar, na flexão do quadril (p = 0,02). Em E2, não houve diferença significativa nas variáveis. Provavelmente, os indivíduos com sobrepeso e obesos enfrentam maiores dificuldades nas atividades realizadas em oposição à força da gravidade, como o levantar. Esses achados e a influência da flexibilidade devem ser confirmados em estudos futuros com essa população.

The most commonly used regimen forHelicobacter pyloritherapy at present is twice-daily proton pump inhibitor (PPI)-based triple therapy. Bismuth-based therapy is the next most common treatment used by gastroenterologists. When a PPI is combined with bismuth-based triple therapy (quadruple therapy), eradication rates are increased as compared with the triple therapy alone. Three separate randomized trials from three continents that compare quadruple therapy and PPIbased triple therapy revealed remarkably similar results. Eradication rates with PPI-based triple therapy and quadruple therapy were not significantly different. The eradication rates with quadruple therapy were 3% to 6% higher than PPI triple therapy, indicating that quadruple therapy should be no less effective than PPI triple therapy. Furthermore, these two therapies had similar rates of compliance and adverse events.The major potential benefit of the quadruple therapy relates to antibiotic resistance. In patients with clarithromycin resistance, PPIbased triple therapy, but not quadruple therapy, had a significantly lower eradication rate. However, due to its ability to largely overcome metronidazole resistance, quadruple therapy had little if any decrement in eradication rates compared with PPI triple therapy in patients with metronidazole-resistantH pylori. Therefore, quadruple therapy can be considered a first line therapy forH pylori.

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is one of the most common chronic bacterial infections in the world. For the purpose of eradicating H. pylori, quadruple therapies are widely prescribed in patients infected with H. pylori. According to the Maastricht V Consensus Conference, in regions where the rate of resistance of H. pylori to CLR and MTZ is high such as Viet Nam, bismuth quadruple therapy is the first choice. However, bismuth also causes many side efects. The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of quadruple therapies on H. pylori infection at Gia Dinh people’s hospital. Seventy-one patients aged 18 years old and older diagnosed with H. pylori infection at the Gastroenterology Unit of Gia Dinh People’s hospital were enrolled in this descriptive cross–sectional study. The efficacy and frequency of side effects of bismuth and non-bismuth quadruple therapies for H. pylori eradication were evaluated and the total rate of H. pylori eradication with both therapies was reported to be 70.4%. The success rate of bismuth quadruple therapy was 80.0%, significantly higher than that of non bismuth quadruple therapy (47.6%). Additionally, the frequency of side effects encountered by bismuth quadruple therapy was insignificantly higher than non-bismuth quadruple therapy (p > 0.05). In conclusion, the effectiveness of treatment with bismuth quadruple therapy was higher than that with non-bismuth quadruple therapy.

The synthesis, and spectroscopic and magnetic properties of quadruple-decker phthalocyanines (Pcs) have been reviewed. While the presence of stacked mercury Pc oligomers was proposed as early as 1992, the isolation of a quadruple-decker Pc was first achieved in 2010. Herein, we review how the synthetic strategy for quadruple-decker Pcs has come to be conceived from the recent development of cadmium Pc oligomers, which will be followed by illustration of unique physicochemical properties originating from the structure of the quadruple-decker frameworks. In the spectroscopy section, the electronic structures of the quadruple-decker Pc are discussed based on the theoretical and experimental results. A simple molecular orbital (MO) method predicts that energy gaps among the occupied frontier MOs of the quadruple-decker Pc become smaller than those of double- or triple-decker Pcs, leading to the observation of exceptionally low-lying electronic transitions for the oxidized quadruple-decker Pcs. It has been confirmed that the corresponding lowest π–π* electronic transitions reach the infrared region for the one-electron oxidized quadruple-decker Pcs. In the magnetic property section, a clear evidence of the long-range magnetic dipole–dipole f–f interactions between two f-electronic centers of diterbium quadruple-decker Pc is provided, and its magnetic relaxation phenomena arising mainly from quantum tunneling magnetizations (QTMs) will be discussed by using the alternate current (ac) magnetic susceptibility data, and the numerically calculated Zeeman diagram of the f-electronic centers in the quadruple-decker Pc.
