The article demonstrates the timeliness of the emergence in Ukraine of new positions for higher / intermediate BIM qualification specialists at modern architectural offices and construction companies during design, construction, and operational stages of an architectural object. Attention is focused on the legislative framework for the development of interrelated (architectural and construction) specialties in Ukraine. At the same time, a shortage of personnel with deep knowledge of BIM technologies is noted. Development of specialized courses and curricula for training and integration of professional BIM managers in the design and development business throughout the country is encouraged. The hierarchy of the main responsibilities and functions of BIM managers determines the list of tasks and the direction of their professional activities. Engaging specialists from real design, leading specialized institutions, educational and experimental centers for the formation of an in-depth specialized training course for top-level specialists is proposed. For the preparation of BIM managers, the concept of a training program for senior years of a specialized university, a refresher courses or other postgraduate trainings in licensed training centers has been proposed. It includes training in project administration, setting up collaboration, an interdisciplinary system, checking the model’s quality, effective organization of BIM processes themselves and within a company, as a whole. AbstractModern trends in professional training of IT managers in the global educational space have been characterized. Practical and theoretical aspects of global trends in modern education development – convergence (internationalization) and divergence – have been analyzed (including updating the content of education, quantitative and qualitative changes in the student population, competition among educational institutions, partnership with businesses), and economic and demographic factors behind them are outlined. Trends in general professional training of managers (diversification of educational institutions, differentiation of educational business programs, close ties between the system of managers’ training, R&D and businesses) and IT managers specifically (with regard to the multiple nature of IT management and Ukraine’s IT segment specificity) have been detailed. Special emphasis has been given to IT managers’ foreign language competence. The range of skills that IT managers need to have in order to meet modern labor market requirements at both national and international levels has been analyzed. It has been concluded that professional training of IT managers is taking on a great significance in the view of modern labor market needs, thus proving further research of IT management specifics and possible ways to expand existing IT management curricula to be a vital task. It has been substantiated that IT managers are not only technical specialists but also managers, they should be ready for self-improvement in this direction too – know and apply innovative approaches to strategic business planning and personnel management, monitor legislative changes, etc. As the sector of IT management sees bright prospects and demand for IT managers keeps growing, professional training of them is taking on a great significance.

It was found that systematic monitoring of the quality of education is necessary for effective management, informed decision-making, comparison and adequate assessment of the state of professional training. This task is successfully implemented through SWOT-analysis, which identifies strengths and weaknesses, potential opportunities and potential threats, establishing relationships between them, which can be further used to form quality management strategies for the training of future heads of educational institutions. A SWOT-analysis of the system of training future leaders (managers in the education system) was conducted and a matrix was developed on the example of Mukachevo State University. This made it possible to systematize information about internal and external factors that affect the quality of the educational process. Its results allowed to determine the competitive advantages of professional training, to form strategic priorities (ways) and to get a clear algorithm of further actions. In particular: periodically review educational programs, permanently monitor the market of educational services and resources of Mukachevo State University, systematically take measures to ensure the quality of educational services under the master's educational program «Educational Pedagogical Sciences: Management of Educational Institutions». At the same time, the analysis of the research results showed that the management of the quality of training of the future head of an educational institution depends on setting standards, updating educational programs, highly qualified staff, quality organization of the educational process and effective management.

This research aims to improve current knowledge on managers’ professional culture and practices through the study of how tactical requirements, and specifically the introduction of zonal marking in the 80’s and 90’s, transformed professional football managers training methods, their professional competences and requirements. In order to do so, 23 semi-estructured interviews were conducted with Spanish first división La Liga professional managers and footballers. Spanish managers in the 80’s enjoyed a traditional authority and disregarded formal instruction and knowledge. However, the tactical complexity emerged through the zonal marking system and the training methods evolution from physical to tactically focused generated a new kind of abstract knowledge and new pedagogical and group managing skills mandatory to achieve success and manage the group.

Currently, in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the institution of professional managers and transparent forms of health organizations management, including modern management technologies, are being implemented. Thus, sufficient professional competency of managerial decision-makers should be one of the most important factors in ensuring the development of a national health system and implementation of all current reforms in the industry. This article aims to investigate the high relevance of the evaluation of health care manager’s competencies and the development of measures to improve its level. In this cross-sectional study, we have analyzed managerial competencies of different levels of healthcare managers using a special questionnaire, which was developed by EPOS health management group to assess their competencies. We interviewed 61 managers of different levels. On the basis of feedbacks, core competencies and their possession by hospital managers were identified. At the first stage, respondents were asked to assess the importance of different competencies required for their work activity. All levels of management showed the high practical importance of assessed competencies. Results of the basic level demonstrated a practical importance of competencies ranging from 73% to 85%, the middle-level managers were from 83% to 93%, and senior level results were 97% to 98%. The next stage of the survey was an assessment of respondent’s average level of self-esteem for the competencies they possessed. Mid- level managers showed a higher possession of competencies than other levels, from 56.8% to 70.2%; the basic level was from 46.9% to 59.6%; and senior level was from 41.6% to 54.7%. The questionnaire was designed in a way to highlight the training gaps as the difference between the importance attributed to the command of a given piece of knowledge, competency or skills, and the level of proficiency the managers are demonstrating currently. Finally, the third stage assessed the training required, wherein each management level has their specific training requirements. As research shows, senior managers have the highest level of required training. For senior level, the greatest needs for training are “self-management” and “quality management.” For basic level, trainings are in “HR management” and “quality management.” For middle managers, their training needs are in all domains of management. There is a discrepancy between the required and the actual competencies that different levels of health managers’ have. The largest gap between mandatory and existing competences exists at the basic level, in “Personnel Management.” A gap in the mid-level was in “Information and Financial Management”; and it was in “Quality Management” for the senior level. The proposed questionnaire could help to identify the most important training required to fill these gaps.

The purpose of the article is to analyze the important tasks of training the future manager of the economic sector, taking into account the creative nature of his professional activity. According to the author, the creative potential of the future manager should also be considered as one of the drivers of self-development, a factor of self-motivation. The active manifestation of a young person's creative inclinations indicates that he is psychologically attuned to change, the source of which is himself, and the object - both the external and internal world. Creative ideas can positively affect the development of the enterprise, first of all, when the manager acts in close cooperation with other managers, does not distinguish himself as an unusual, gifted person, is able not only to admire attractive prospects, but to defend them throughout their implementation, able to reformat it at any stage if the need for such steps has become apparent. The active manifestation of a young person's creative inclinations indicates that he is psychologically attuned to change, the source of which is himself, and the object - both the external and internal world. The article substantiates the need to emphasize in the system of training the manager of the economic sector the creative nature of his professional activity. Peculiarities of formation of creative personality are considered and its important characteristics in the context of professional tasks of the manager-economist are specified. The expediency of using various forms of educational modeling, quasi-professional activity with different degrees of abstraction, which will expand students' understanding of the essence of the chosen profession, increase the field of choice of personality-attractive forms of educational material and didactic interaction.

In the presence of dynamic organizational environment and a growing supply of ‘knowledgeable employees’ which require more professional managers to address their fast changing and increasing needs, senior and middle level managers are now required to keep up with the dynamic and learning environment more than ever. In order to train senior and middle level managers, the article has recommended four perspectives to encourage the development of learning manager. The first aspect for senior and middle level mangers is to integrate learning talents into their practices. The second point is to encourage managers to provide strong support for individuals and teams to develop a learning organization. The third point encourages learning managers and organizations to be composed into the culture of the organization. The last point advocates for more open and free dissemination of information and knowledge to be allowed within an organization.

In France, the national public health plan proposes a group of innovations including the initiation of case management for older adults in complex situations, particularly those with cognitive disorders. In this context, public authorities asked case managers to use a standardized multidimensional evaluation tool. The results of a qualitative study on the pertinence of such a tool relative to the emergence of this new professional field are described. Early use of an evaluation tool seems to be linked to the emergence of a new professional identity for recently recruited case managers. Factors determining the strength of this link are training, tool standardization, computerization, and local structure’s involvement. Our results contribute to identifying one of the ways by which professional identity can be changed to become a case manager.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to analyze the effects of individual manager characteristics on real estate mutual fund (REMF) performance. Human capital theory predicts that factors like education, experience and professional certifications improve skill sets and thus performance. Conversely, capital markets theory suggests that these things may be irrelevant in the management of mutual funds.Design/methodology/approachA total of 63 REMFs were sampled over the period 2001‐2003 and equations were estimate regressing, alternatively, risk‐adjusted return, market risk and management fees on a series of fund variables and manager characteristics including the manager's tenure, whether the fund manager holds a professional certification, whether the manager has specific real estate experience, and whether the fund is team‐managed.FindingsModest evidence is found that team‐managed funds have lower risk‐adjusted returns than solo‐managed funds. Managers with longer tenure tend to pursue higher market risk levels, and there is no relation between manager characteristics and management fees.Research limitations/implicationsThis study considers only one cross‐sectional time period. Future research might use longitudinal data.Practical implicationsDespite real estate being a specialized field of finance, there is little if any support for the predictions of human capital theory that experience, education and training result in greater performance among managers of REMFs.Originality/valueThis paper extends prior work in mutual fund management characteristics and fund performance to real estate funds.

Relevance. The current changes in the field of education require the systematic updating of educational and professional training programs intended for future managers, the developing of new competences and the using of innovative training technologies, which confirms the significance and necessity of the dominance of practice-oriented training in the training of modern education managers who must be competitive on the labour market . The purpose of the article is to identify the features of the practice-oriented training as a means of professionalisation and to justify the specifics of its implementation into the system of professional training aimed at future education managers. Research Methodology. These theoretical methods were used in the study: analysis, generalisation and systematisation of scientific literature in order to clarify the concepts “professionalisation”, “professionalism” as well as the features of the practice-oriented training; to identify the specificity of the training aimed at the future education managers at an institution of higher education. In addition, questionnaires were used as a method of empirical research to identify the difficulties experienced by the future education managers in the period of their professional training within Master programmes. It has been proved that the professionalisation of the future education managers is a process of professionalism development. The authors have generalised the twelve-year experience of the Department of Educational Management and Public Administration of Ushynsky University in training future education managers to use a practice-oriented approach; to consider the challenges of today and the modern requirements set as a result of the reforms and innovations; to improve the content and to choose training tactics, taking into consideration corresponding teaching / learning forms, methods and tools which provide for the ability to autonomously make decisions under conditions of uncertainty, identifying risks, the impact of internal and external factors on the development of a higher education institution in the period of changes. The necessity to use the information-factual base of reasonably expected situations in the process of the future education managers’ independent educational activity has been substantiated since it promotes the development of higher education seekers’ individual abilities, the creation of conditions for their active, fruitful educational and cognitive activities and provides for creative use of organisational forms and methods.

This study aims to verify if there is any difference in the personality traits of Project Managers with different professional backgrounds – training, experience, and business sector (public or private). Using as theoretical basis the Big Five personality traits, this research was conducted with 244 Project Managers who work in Brazil. The results of tests of mean differences between groups showed that Project Managers with more experience have the trait agreeableness more pronounced than managers with less experience, while Project Managers with more schooling have a higher Conscientiousness, Openness to Experience, and Emotional Stability than Managers with less schooling. Project Managers who work in the public and private sectors showed different personality traits between themselves, and only for agreeableness no significant difference was found. These findings may contribute to the targeting of selection and training policies and the development of interpersonal and technical skills for this professional.
