“No research without trained researchers” has become the mantra of the EU-funded Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) education and training projects. However, it is often hard to determine the type of training required at different stages of a scientist’s career. The situation is further complicated by the constantly changing environment, e.g. the growth of disruptive technologies, societal expectations of biomedical sciences, the greater need for multi-disciplinary collaborations, and conservative or changing regulatory requirements. This article summarises the experience from a series of five EMTRAIN Public Private Partnership PhD workshops that included both scientific and transferrable skill training. This is followed by an example of a recently developed training programme, including a competency profile, for translational research and medicines development; the C-COMEND teaching programme. The emphasis is on competencies as a new currency for continuing professional development. Finally, this paper describes what we consider to be the next steps required by the scientific community to address solutions to the current training challenges so that society can benefit from the innovations that only science can provide.

The article draws attention to the steady growth of the general trend of direct participation of individuals in financial transactions using electronic platforms. In particular, the article notes the increased interest in participating in operations in the Forex currency market. It is emphasized that relatively technically easy access to participation in financial transactions through the use of electronic platforms is currently a potential threat to financial security for the funds of participants in such transactions. This is a lack of professional training of most novice traders who voluntarily become participants in financial transactions. It is emphasized that stock exchange transactions on stock markets, purchase and sale of currency on electronic platforms, transactions with gold, etc. require, along with general, also special knowledge on certain specific areas of economic development and financial relations. Also, psychological and behavioral factors begin to "work" in such relationships. It is noted that only from the beginning of 2019 in Ukraine at the legislative level began a systematic regulation of the structure of the foreign exchange market and the procedure for trading in foreign currency. The article states that it is time to pay attention to digitalized trading activities from a professional point of view and start teaching in educational institutions the relevant disciplines for training and acquiring students' general skills in trade and financial transactions on electronic platforms. From this point of view, the article provides an introductory review of the Forex currency market, outlines the principles of its operation, pays more attention to trading strategies. As a result, the following conclusions are made that, first, the foreign exchange market is highly profitable provided that its trends are mastered; secondly, the foreign exchange market is high risk; it is necessary to understand not only in many terms, but, especially, in processes and situations in the financial-globalized world to confidently use charts of change of cost of currencies for profit; thirdly, there are many different strategies that can be used successfully in the currency market, from the simplest - for amateurs, to more complex - for experienced traders, but none of them will fit perfectly for a particular psychotype, professional level and amount of time a person - trader can pay trade. Of particular value, according to the authors, is the following conclusion: a trader creates his own strategy, which provides a greater likelihood of earnings in the international Forex market. Currency trader is a creative activity, but an activity based on mastering a large base of professional knowledge.

AbstractThis paper tests the influential hypothesis that irrational traders will be driven out of financial markets by trading losses. The paper’s main finding is that overconfident currency dealers are not driven out of the market. Dealers with extensive experience are neither more nor less overconfident than their junior colleagues. We set the stage for this investigation by providing evidence that currency dealers display two forms of overconfidence: They underestimate uncertainty, and they overestimate their professional success. This is notable because one might have expected the opposite: currency dealers face strong incentives for accuracy, they have access to comprehensive information, and they have extensive experience.

«Current legislation of the Russian Federation establishes a variety of currency restrictions, which are a set of rules established by the state, designed to protect the national currency to affect the behavior of participants in foreign exchange transactions by imposing prohibitions or additional encumbrances on certain foreign exchange transactions». One of the such rules is the provision of art. 27 Federal Law No. 86-FZ of 10.07.2002 «On the Central Bank of the Russian Federation (the Bank of Russia)», according to which the introduction in the territory of the Russian Federation of other monetary units and the issuance of monetary surrogates are prohibited. Meanwhile, the current legislation does not establish any liability for the issuance of cash surrogates. Moreover, new technologies are increasingly being introduced into our lives and are constantly inf luencing the legal environment in which we are currently surrounded. Much attention today is focused on the topic of cryptocurrency and the use of blockchain technology in the public and private sectors. Currently, both professional and non- professional participants are increasingly discussing various aspects of the use of cryptocurrencies in a particular state. The article analyzes urgent issues of the circulation of money substitutes, identifies the prospects of establishing criminal responsibility for the issue and circulation of money substitutes, etc.

Background. Bitcoin protocol was released in 2009, which created a revolutionary virtual currency, the Bitcoin. Many cryptocurrencies have appeared in the last decade, and as a result nowadays approximately 4940 cryptocurrencies are registered, and new ones emerge almost every day. Majority of the central banks do not accept these cryptocurrencies as real currencies, rather they draw attention for their dangers and risks. At the same time, despite warnings, the number of cryptocurrency transactions has exploded. Research aims. The aim of this research is to examine the investors’ investing habits, motivations and study the acceptance of innovation. Our aims are to explore those habits and motivations, which are obstruct or incite investors’ investing habits. Also, one of our aims is to study how cryptocurrency investors open for innovations and which adaption categories they can be classified into. Methodology. During the research process, the professional bibliography of the academic basis for cryptocurrencies had been reviewed. We used the results of previous research in our study whilst we examined the investing, savings habits and motivations of the Hungarian population. Everett Rogers’ theory of innovation played a vital role in our research, mostly that is what our own research was based on. During the primary research we conducted a questionnaire survey, which results were analyzed using mathematical-statistical models. Key findings. The main motivation for cryptocurrency investors is gaining income, wealth and seeking entertainment. Their characteristics are mostly the independence and lifecycle motivation. For cryptocurrency investors, the motivation is mostly obstructed by lack of income and market information. Most of them are open for innovation and bear it inevitable. The most of them considered as innovator or late majority. They are rarely known as laggards.

The flight of human capital is a phenomenon that has been of concern to academics and development practitioners for decades. Termed the brain drain, it represents the loss of highly skilled professionals from a source country to a recipient country. Migrants leave one country for another as a result of strong attractions associated with differentials in living conditions, opportunities for professional advancement, and the existence of an environment that is conducive to peace and security. The term brain drain gained currency in the 1950s. Then it referred to emigration of scientists to the United States from countries such as Britain, Canada, and the former Soviet Union. Today, the concept is used to denote the flight of highly skilled professionals and academics from developing to developed countries.

Wage theft, which is the non-payment of employee entitlements, is a term that has gained currency in the legal and policy literature. In Australia, the context for this study, pressure has been applied to the hospitality industry after a string of revelations, many involving celebrity chef business interests, of routine wage violations. A national study into the working experiences of chefs, involving individual and group interviews, investigated the dimensionality of wage theft forms in professional kitchens. Besides cataloguing a number of direct and indirect wage theft genres, the study has revealed that alongside creative and exploitative organizational practices, victims are often complicit in their own mistreatment. Theoretically, this augments our understandings of how workers can become disempowered in organizational contexts. Practically, it suggests interventions directed at both victims and perpetrators are required to complement policy and jurisdictional approaches.

The exponential growth of ‘theoretical’ approaches to theatre in the last twenty years has given rise to a vast body of literature and a swag of highly influential ‘command metaphors’. In this article, Julian Meyrick describes and analyzes the rise of such theories, contrasting academic understanding of theatre with the more experiential problem-solving of the profession. He argues that sophisticated ‘theoretical’ approaches to the theatre too often preclude or traduce the thinking of artists themselves, presenting practical concerns as epiphenomenal or untutored. This, in turn, points to important short-circuits in some academic takes on theatre which need modifying if ‘theory’ and ‘practice’ are once again to feed into each other in a meaningful way. Julian Meyrick Is currently an Associate Director and Literary Adviser at Melbourne Theatre Company, and an Honorary Associate with the Drama Program, La Trobe University. His production for the Melbourne Workers' Theatre, Who's Afraid of the Working Class? attracted numerous awards, and toured widely in Australia. He has published in the areas of arts policy, the theory/practice nexus, and post-1945 Australian theatre. His book on Sydney's Nimrod Theatre, See How It Runs: Nimrod and the New Wave was published by Currency Press in 2002.

Purpose The role of higher education institutions in enhancing capability development of the healthcare professionals workforce has resulted in work-based learning becoming an essential component of awards linked to professional registration. The purpose of this paper is to explore how key stakeholders (academics, workplace tutors and students) on a programme leading to registration as a Biomedical Scientist (BMS) position themselves in their role and the subsequent impact of this upon delivery of pre-registration training and the development of professional capability. Design/methodology/approach Constructivist grounded theory methodology and a mixed-methods approach were drawn upon for the study. Findings Findings expose the challenges of a positivist focus and assumptions around workplace learning and professional development presenting a barrier to developing professional capability. In addressing this barrier, two strategies of “doing the portfolio” and “gaining BMS currency” are adopted. The registration portfolio has become an objective reductionist measure of learning, reflecting the positivist typology of practice in this profession. Practical implications To ensure that students are supported to develop not only technical skills but also professional capability there is a need for a paradigm shift from a positivist episteme to one that embraces both the positivist and socio-cultural paradigms, viewing them as complimentary and parallel. Originality/value The study provides a novel insight into how stakeholders interact with the pressures of internal and external influences and the impact this has upon behaviours and strategies adopted. The theoretical understanding proposed has a range of implications for practice and for the development of practitioner capability through pre-registration training and beyond.

Purpose This paper aims to examine and discuss learning conditions for teachers, in the context of choice and decentralisation reforms. Design/methodology/approach This article is based on analyses of 30 interviews with Swedish upper secondary teachers focusing on their experiences of their conditions for learning. Findings This paper shows how teachers at upper secondary level identify their subjects as the most important to learn more within. Secondly, we also show that spatial and temporal aspects of organisation of work seem to influence the conditions for subject learning, where the interviewees in many ways contrast their own view to how they describe their work being organised. Research limitations/implications Our findings may have currency for other professional groups with similar governance-contexts, and teachers in other similar governance-contexts. Practical implications These findings indicate the need to further develop workplace learning strategies founded upon the understanding of schools as workplaces, taking occupational values into account. Furthermore, these strategies should be seen as a core Human Resource Management issue, as they can potentially enhance the work environment, thus increasing the profession’s attractiveness. Originality/value We show that spatial and temporal aspects of organisation of work seem to influence the conditions for the sought after subject learning, and that the teachers and the school management seem to identify with different and clashing ideals in terms of what, when, how and with whom to learn.

In 1998, a comprehensive study was conducted of the monograph collections of the twenty-eight public community colleges in Florida. This article reports the findings of that study with respect to median age and currency of resources. The rationale for the interpretation of the findings in the Florida Community College Collection Assessment Project is congruent with the philosophy that college collections should emphasize the instructional and curricular needs of students and, therefore, that the collections should emphasize current resources rather than retrospective depth. The findings on median age from the Florida Community College study serve as an example for the discussion of the implications of median age on currency of resources in college library monographic collections, especially in the professional, scientific, and technical fields. The major recommendation is a Continual Update Collection Management Model for college collections.

Based on the high-frequency recordings from Kraken, a cryptocurrency exchange and professional trading platform that aims to bring Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies into the mainstream, the multiscale cross-correlations involving the Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Euro (EUR) and US dollar (USD) are studied over the period between 1 July 2016 and 31 December 2018. It is shown that the multiscaling characteristics of the exchange rate fluctuations related to the cryptocurrency market approach those of the Forex. This, in particular, applies to the BTC/ETH exchange rate, whose Hurst exponent by the end of 2018 started approaching the value of 0.5, which is characteristic of the mature world markets. Furthermore, the BTC/ETH direct exchange rate has already developed multifractality, which manifests itself via broad singularity spectra. A particularly significant result is that the measures applied for detecting cross-correlations between the dynamics of the BTC/ETH and EUR/USD exchange rates do not show any noticeable relationships. This could be taken as an indication that the cryptocurrency market has begun decoupling itself from the Forex.

The financial sector of the economy of the Republic of Moldova, established as a result of building the market economy, has complained to many modern financial institutions, which triggered, on the one hand, the profound transformation of the legacy inherited from the state economy, and, on the other hand, the founding of new entities. Obviously, this process has resulted in a shortage of qualified personnel in the field of finance, which, along the way, thanks to the expansion of financial education, has been covered. However, even after three decades, there are deficiencies in the training of staff. One of the fundamental problems in the training and professional development of specialists in the field of currency and credit is the modelling of professional skills, issue that is investigated in this paper. The obtained results can serve as support for the argumentation of the recommendations on the modernization of financial education, the selection and adaptation of the content of the lecture units and non-auditorial teaching activities, but also of the professional training programs and the procedures for assessing professional competences to the contemporary requirements of functioning of financial institutions.

Creating our own national currency was neither an non-alternative nor an easy process, as there were a number of problems - both in the domestic economy and in international relations - that had to be solved first. Purpose. The goal is to cover the retrospective of the establishment of the National Monetary Unit, highlighting the main principles of its creation, which continue to influence the state of the modern Monetary System of Ukraine. Methods. The generally known and narrow-professional statistical and factual materials, as well as his own memories and impressions of the author, who was a direct participant in this process, were used. These materials are processed using methods of scientific analysis and comparison. Results. The article examines specific facts that characterize process of the national currency creation, as well as the views of politicians and economists who determined its course and dynamics. The author gives his own assessments of past events and tries to analyze their impact on the modern Monetary System of Ukraine. Conclusions. The first, radical monetary reform in modern Ukraine was carried out in the process of introducing its own monetary unit into circulation - the karbovanetz (1991-1992). Unfortunately, when it was carried out, contrary to the position of the author and his associates, an “inflationary spiral” was unleashed with the intention of transferring all economic troubles caused by hyperinflation to the karbovanetz so that the next national currency, the hryvnia, would be based on a “new, healthy” basis. As it was clear from the theoretical point of view, this approach was wrong and only led to the inheritance of the processes of inflation and devaluation (albeit at a lower rate).

It is not so uncommon when the main deterring factor of economic growth is its politicization. As a matter of fact, economic policy is a part of governmental policy and this means that the “politicization of the economy” is practically unavoidable. The problem is when the conditioning of the “politicization of the economy” is the type of economic policy that is not based on the achievements of economic science. If economic policy is not only distant from economic science but, on some occasions even contradicts it with its elementary provisions, then this type of economic policy held by a government should be called “non-economic policy.” Among the causes of “non-economic policy,” special attention must be paid to problems in the existing mistakes in economics, in the non-professional economic team of a government and in the wrong recommendations given to a government by international financial institutions. Post-communist Georgia’s experience gives us noticeable examples when different governments held ‘non-economic policies’ which negatively impacted the country’s development. As a result of successful economic policies, economic reforms were held which subsequently combated hyperinflation in the 1990s, achieved macroeconomic stability and established the Georgian lari (GEL) as the national currency following currency reform. Relevant reforms were completely based on economics. The main problem is the rapprochement of economic policy to economic science. Achievement of this is only possible in the case when economic policy is elaborated by highly professional economists.

The subject of this research is educational motivation of the first-year and second-year students of vocational school. The author puts forward an assumption that the second-year students have higher motivation towards learning than the first-year students. This related to the completion of adaptation period and maturing of students, as well as with formation of the responsible professional stance on their future. The conducted research confirmed the advanced hypothesis. The motives for learning highlighted by the second-year students are associated mostly with the current issues of educational activity. The author also underlines the greater importance of motives pertinent to professional competences and professional activity among the second-year students. The main conclusion lies in the thesis that motives for learning indicated by the first-year students are characterized by expectancy, temporary farness of the result, and are merely associated with the current problems. These results reveal the considerable importance of the remote and abstract learning goals for the first-year students. The author detects a trend that acquisition of knowledge is more significant that professional skills in the learning process. Moreover, in course of time, the motive for acquiring knowledge acquires more currency among the students of vocational school.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to discuss conditions for workplace learning (WPL) in relation to temporary agency staffing (TAS), focusing on temporary and regular nurses’ experiences of social relations. Design/methodology/approach Data were gathered using qualitative semi-structured interviews with five agency nurses and five regular nurses. Thematic analysis was used to analyse the data. Findings Similarities and differences regarding conditions for WPL among “temps” and “regulars” emerged, pointing towards both challenges and opportunities for WPL on various levels. Moreover, although challenges stood out, the context of professional work provides certain opportunities for WPL through, for example, knowledge sharing among nurses. Research limitations/implications Results are valid for the interviewees’ experiences of WPL conditions. However, the findings may also have currency in other but similar workplaces and employment circumstances. Practical implications Client organisations and temporary work agencies could benefit from developing management and HR strategies aimed at strengthening the opportunities for WPL, related to professional work, to ensure that these opportunities are leveraged fully. Originality/value This study adopts a WPL perspective on TAS in the context of professional work, which is still rare.

This article describes a professional development initiative facilitated through a transformational partnership model. In this context, we discuss our experience of piloting an online continuing professional development course in the area of online teaching, which offered a digital badge for successful participants. The course was the result of a partnership between three Irish higher education institutions and a national agency that had initiated a nation-wide scheme to create and disseminate a range of open access collaborative professional development courses to promote the professionalisation of teaching and learning, with a specific digital badge being available for each course. We investigated the interplay between the digital badge issued for the course we piloted, and other potential intrinsic and extrinsic motivators. Digital badges appear to be a weak motivating factor in initial enrolment and engagement, although for some participants, they did motivate continued engagement and completion. We discuss implications in relation to internal and external drivers and motivations around professional development. We also offer reflections on the larger context in which badges might be used or valued by course participants in their professional environments. Implications for practice or policy: For digital badges to motivate learning, educational developers and institutions need to associate them with intrinsically meaningful rewards. Partnership between higher education institutes and non-accrediting bodies can drive the development and wider acceptance and use of digital badges as a tangible and agreed currency of learner and learning achievement. Learners benefit most from digital badges when they are linked to and facilitate the development of personal identities associated with disciplinary and professional communities.

The construct of multicultural competence has gained much currency in the counseling psychology literature. This article provides a critique of the multicultural counseling competencies and argues that counseling psychology's operationalization of multicultural competence must be grounded in a commitment to social justice. Such a commitment necessitates an expansion of our professional activities beyond counseling and psychotherapy. While counseling is one way to provide services to clients from oppressed groups, it is limited in its ability to foster social change. Engaging in advocacy, prevention, and outreach is critical to social justice efforts, as is grounding teaching and research in collaborative and social action processes.

Despite its ambiguities, the term was widely perceived to capture the countervailing ethos of the ordinary person’s capacity to contribute to professional news coverage, thereby providing commentators with a useful label to characterise an ostensibly new genre of user-generated content.

In an evolving and competitive market, sports marketing professionals must adapt and consider alternate forms of ticket sales. This case study follows Julie Lin, the director of ticket sales for a fictional National Hockey League expansion team, the Seattle Salmon. In an effort to align with the strategic vision of being considered a highly innovative sports franchise, Lin is considering accepting Bitcoin, a virtual currency, as a form of payment. Considered a “cryptocurrency,” Bitcoin is awarded through the solving of complex computer riddles, is devoid of a physical form, has no government or regulatory body backing it, and has value based largely on speculation. Bitcoin has found popularity and legitimacy among technology companies and companies considered to be innovative. At the present time, three professional sports accept Bitcoin for the purchase of tickets. This case will follow Lin and her exploration of Bitcoin within her franchise. Readers will consider positive and negative aspects of Bitcoin in a sports ticketing environment, and ultimately present an educated and data-driven recommendation regarding the details of this case.

The article deals with the main approaches to the technology of blockade management of financial flows between enterprises and between the state and enterprises. Ukraine's entry into the global information space and the introduction of �ryptocurrency in the domestic financial market will expand the investment market and provide targeted budget investments to national producers that can provide increased production through the end product, services, net exports or the creation of products that replace the imported. Three important functions of the financial services sector are proposed based on the blockade technology: at the enterprise registration of transactions, confirmation of the identity of the person (legal address) and the conclusion of contracts. The principles of state policy in the sphere of activity of financial institutions in the market of cryptography are described, in accordance with the draft Law of Ukraine "On stimulation of the market of �ryptocurrency and its derivatives in Ukraine" and supplemented with the principles that most fully reveal the peculiarities of public administration with the help of blockade technology. Professional market participants are not responsible for the obligations of the state, and the state - on the obligations of such market participants are crying. All operations on the market of crying are carried out by their participants at their own risk. The state guarantees the observance and protection of property and other rights and legitimate interests of professional market participants in the cryptographic market and other persons who carry out property or transactions with cryptic foreign currency, the conditions of free competition in the provision of financial services in the market of �ryptocurrency. �ryptocurrency have protection in the form of a cryptographic code, which allows them to emit them by any user-operator to bypass the actions and positions of the central bank. All operations on the market of crying are carried out by their participants at their own risk. The state guarantees the observance and protection of property and other rights and legitimate interests of professional market participants in the cryptographic market and other persons who carry out property or transactions with cryptic foreign currency, the conditions of free competition in the provision of financial services in the market of cybercurrencies.

Collaborative action research (CAR) is gaining currency as a teacher professional development strategy. This paper reports on the collaborative action research undertaken by two university teachers from different disciplines: a teacher of English and a teacher of Cultural Studies (CS) aiming to introduce a greater variety of activities in a predominantly lecture-based CS classroom and increase student involvement in class through the employment of active learning techniques. In addition to its main focus, the research brought to light the importance of taking into consideration such aspects peculiar to CAR as challenges of collaborative meaning-making, tensions arising in the process ofcollaboration, power relations between the researchers, and the pole of differing teachers ' perceptions. Observations, teacher diaries, transcripts of reflective dialogues of the Ovo researchers, and student questionnaires were used to document and analyse the classroom practice and the outcomes of the instructional changes. The research shows that professional development cannot be reduced to the use of new instructional techniques in class. Changes in instructional practices involve deeper changes in the teacher 's beliefs and teaching philosophy, and thus require time.

With a wide variety of easily-accessible internet tools, social media have revolutionized the way people access, create and share information. Apart from facilitating social networking, these online platforms are also considered critical enablers of professional competence development, with perceptions of their use in promoting learning – in a domain like journalism – gaining currency. Using Rwanda as a case study, this article explores students’ attitudes towards social media use in professional learning and how these predict their self-efficacy for online journalism work. Empirical data was gathered from mass communication students from five Rwandan universities (n=143), who completed a researcher-constructed ‘online journalism self-efficacy’ (OJSE) survey. Descriptive findings indicated that the students are highly efficacious in most online journalism skills. Inferential statistical analysis demonstrate that the students’ beliefs, feelings and actions regarding social media as professional learning tools, significantly correlated with the students’ online journalism self-efficacy. The results disconfirm the null hypothesis that negate the existence of a significant relationship between these variables. In light of the study’s results, educators need to leverage the students’ positive social media attitudes to enhance and innovative student-centred teaching and learning approaches – where learners harness the affordances of the social media tools for their professional growth. Abstract This article is dedicated to present the most common word-formation strategies in German railway specialist terminology. The presentation of the most productive morphological nomination strategies in the analysed area is preceded by a short historical outline of the railway industry in Germany. The adumbration of the historical background and hints regarding the current EU environmental plans for railways are intended to expose the importance and relentless currency of the analysis undertaken here. The presented examples, which were extracted from the most extensive industry terminology database, RaiLLexic, have been correlated with their Polish equivalents. This contrastive procedure allows, going further, to draw conclusions about both language systems within which the professional terminology described here is constituted.

There is no standard way via which to measure the ‘qualified’ English language teacher in a way that is meaningful to institutions seeking to employ teaching staff. This is significant given that candidates may differ markedly in their language competence, knowledge about language, methodological skills and ability to explain and justify their praxis and operate in intercultural spaces. In this article, we propose a framework, based on Bourdieu’s (1986) ‘forms of capital’, with a view to helping stakeholders articulate and evaluate teachers’ skills. To demonstrate how this framework might be used, we apply it to two English language teacher qualifications that have wide professional currency: CELTA courses and Masters degrees in ELT/Applied Linguistics.

Compensation for injuries caused by medical accidents is one of the main branches of insurance under the title of doctors' civil liability insurance. In the present article, we have decided to collect information on the income and expenses of doctors' professional liability insurances to obtain a community view of the coverage of this insurance and to explain the advantages and disadvantages of stakeholders and to propose practical solutions to expand coverage and increase insurance coverage. In this study, information was collected from the Forensic Medicine Organization of Tehran Province about the amount of complaints and convictions of the medical staff in 1396 by a counting method in a researcher-made checklist and the amount of ransom that various medical professionals were required to pay in 1396 was estimated. Quality was calculated based on percentage and frequency and quantitative information was calculated based on mean and standard deviation. Out of 4079 complaints, 3343 (52.5%) were acquitted and 1731 (425%) were convicted. The highest number of convictions was related to general surgery, general practitioners and dentists and the lowest convictions were related to traditional medicine, poisoning, nursing and pathology. Complaints from female patients were 2430 cases (59.6%) and the rate of men complaints over time was 3076 cases (75.5%). Between the two groups of medical staff who were required to pay ransom to patients and the group who were not negligent. There was no statistically significant difference in terms of gender. The highest amount of negligence was related to the complaints convicted in the Plastic Surgery Commission in the amount of 924,900,000 Tomans (Iranian currency) and the lowest amount of negligence was related to the complaints condemned in the Traditional Medicine Commission in the amount of 35,700,000 Tomans. Considering the approximate number of 630/269 staff members and considering that if the insurer has spent on average 375/743 Tomans for each limited liability insurance, a significant figure of 250/839/705/200 can be calculated. As a result, the obligation to insure medical staff requires a determinative. Therefore it is appropriate for the Medical System organization, as the custodian and pioneer of supporting and providing services to the medical staff, to take action in this regard and to achieve this coverage.

Powerful obstacles to the further integration of repot, bond and equity markets remain the still fragmented securities settlement industry in Europe, which charges much higher fees for cross border transactions than for domestic transactions, and differences in legal systems. This paper describes the main developments in the euro area financial markets before and after the introduction of the single currency. It looks at the evolution of the euro area financial structure in the last few years. Interestingly in various dimensions the financial structure of euro area countries seems to become more diverse over time. We assess the progress towards financial integration in the most important euro-area financial segments, namely money and equity markets, as well as banking. The available data suggest that the unsecured money market strongly integrated with the introduction of the euro, as the single currency and related euro-area-wide large-value payment systems link the different countries well. Also, some progress occurred in the integration of euro-area equity markets, as stock exchanges in a few countries merged to form Euronext and professional asset managers replaced country allocation by sector allocation strategies. Overall, while asset holdings have become more international in the euro area since the introduction of the single currency, securities markets are still much less integrated than in the US. In the area of retail banking the increased homogeneity of interest rates seems to be driven more by macroeconomic convergence than by market integration. In addition we consider a wide range of other determinants, such as foreign debt or net foreign assets, terms of trade, government debt and regulated prices.

In this position paper, we advocate the creation of the Eurolecturer Academy (ELA), an innovative, European state of the art higher education learning platform serving academics in their continuous professional development of teaching competences and thereby supporting academics to educate students to be successful in the changing world. Within this newly established educational entity, there will be two levels of membership, Associated membership and Full membership. The ELA will not only facilitate continuous professional development of university teaching staff but will at the same time create a structure to support recognition of teaching competences of lecturers within the European dimension in teaching and learning. The certification will profit from the new 5th European Qualification Framework for micro-credentials, providing a much needed “academic currency” for the purpose of recognition of academic credentials. The ELA micro-credentials will be issued by certifying the learning outcomes of short-term learning experiences in the field of teaching and learning in higher education. The ELA will provide a micro-credentials catalogue that will address the needs for professional development of lecturers and ensure the quality of the micro-credentials through close cooperation with the internationally operating accreditation organization ASIIN (https://www.asiin.de/en/) using quality standards and valid assessment according to international best practice. The paper analyzes the legal positions of the Court of the European Union, developed when considering disputes arising from cross-border remote B2C (business to consumer) contracts. In particular, the criteria proposed by the Court of the European Union for determining the “orientation” of the professional party’s activity to the country of the consumer’s place of residence are being investigated. Based on the study of the practice of the Court of Justice of the European Union, it is concluded that consumers in the European Union are provided with increased legal protection as an economically weak party.The author summarizes that the Court of the European Union has developed a number of legal positions. In particular, the Court proposed an open list of criteria for determining the “direction” of the professional party’s activities to the country of the consumer’s place of residence. In addition, it was noted that the “direction of the professional party’s activities when concluding remote contracts is evidenced by the website that reads that the professional party implied the implementation of transactions with consumers residing in one or more member States, including the member State of the consumer’s place of residence. However, the mere fact of having access to the website of an intermediary or entrepreneur in the member state in which the consumer resides is not enough. The same applies to the indication of an e-mail address or other contact information, or the use of a language or currency that is usually used in the Member State of the place of establishment of an economic entity, which corresponds to paragraph 24 of the preamble to the Rome I Regulation.

The nature of British interests in the Far East in the 1930s meant that both the Treasury and the Board of Trade were necessarily closely involved with the making of foreign policy. While Foreign Office officials resented this intrusion into their domain, they were themselves disdainful of so-called ‘technical’ considerations connected with tariffs or currency reform, and were willing to leave them to the specialists. Under the dynamic impetus of the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Neville Chamberlain, and the Permanent Secretary to the Treasury, Sir Warren Fisher, the Treasury, encouraged by the apparent abnegation of the Foreign Office, made a bold and aggressive foray between 1933 and 1936 into realms of foreign policy-making hitherto regarded as the exclusive sphere of the professional diplomat.

As Community Based Research (CBR) gains currency as a ‘research strategy of choice’ for the community sector (and increasingly establishes itself as a credible research approach also in the academic sector) we believe there is a need to revisit what have become the conventions of CBR and consider how these are enacted in practice. We could verify that there are several Higher Education Institutions (HEI’s) with offices of support services to the community or with this type of goal in their research projects, a demand which is also demonstrated by the organisation that evaluates the HEI’s in Portugal. Mainly, the type of problems studied by the community support centres in universities, are related with health, disabilities, and social exclusion. The current investigation is innovative because it was performed in order to identify in what way the accounting organisations need the help of HEI’s to provide independent participatory research support in response to concerns experienced by these organisations. Through a questionnaire composed of open and closed questions it was our intention to obtain information regarding the perspective of accounting professionals considering the needs and gaps that they feel in their professional practice and how the HEI’s can contribute to help bridge these gaps.

The paper is devoted to the study of theoretical and practical aspects of determinant management of competitive devaluation, which are the essence of competitive devaluation, instruments of its implementation, as well as the positive and negative consequences of its impact on the economy of the country, which is implementing it and its trading partners. The authors have found that competitive devaluation is a deliberate devaluation of currency initiated (both officially and informally) by the central bank to reduce the value of exported goods, thereby facilitating domestic production, solving the unemployment problem, and reducing the balance of payments deficit. The article determines that the most significant impact of competitive devaluation takes place in the following sectors of the country’s economy: foreign trade, industrial, agricultural, financial and services. The study has found that the degree of effectiveness of competitive devaluation to stimulate economic growth of a country is determined by the following factors: structure of foreign trade, share of imported raw materials and components in the cost of goods, foreign trade barriers, growth rates of other countries’ economies, elasticity of demand for exported goods, use of fixed commodity contracts and risk hedging instruments, J-curve effect. The authors highlight the positive and negative consequences of competitive devaluation for the country implementing it and its trading partners. Expected positive results for the country which is devaluing its currency is an increase in exports and an increase in domestic demand, which should contribute to higher employment and economic growth. Among the negative effects of competitive devaluation are the following: a decrease of the purchasing power of the population, a rise of prices of imports and a decrease of their volumes, an increase of the inflation rate; more expensive repayment of foreign currency denominated debt; reduction of foreign investments; restriction of scientific and technological development and the outflow of professional labor.

Objectives: To review the highlights of the new Clinical Informatics subspecialty including its history, certification requirements, development of and performance on the certification examination in the United States. Methods: We reviewed processes for the development of a subspecialty. Data from board certification examinations were collated and analyzed. We discussed eligibility requirements in the fellowship as well as practice pathways. Results: Lessons learned from the development of the Clinical Informatics subspecialty, opportunities, challenges, and future directions for the field are discussed. Conclusions: There remains a need for fellowship programs and creation and maintenance of a professional home for the subspecialty with the American Medical Informatics Association. Ongoing attention to the currency of the core content is required to maintain an examination designed to test the key concepts within the field of Clinical Informatics.
