Due to the shift in societal expectations, one can analyse, and interpret the history of auditing thanks to the historical growth of the profession both inside and outside of the company. The study's goal is to investigate the audit profession, internal and external audit, professionalism, and commercialism theoretically. Hero gains understanding of the nature of materiality, evidence, professional judgment, and skepticism in auditing from the audit profession. According to pertinent literature, the accounting and auditing professions have made significant contributions to the credibility of financial reporting through their pronouncements. The paper contends that the policeman theory of auditing, which is a component of the theory of accountability that aids in explaining the evolution of auditing in the corporate sector, acts as a link between the audit profession inside and outside the corporation.

The Pathways Commission (2012) recommended that we devote significant efforts to building a learned profession by purposeful integration of accounting research, education, and practice for students, accounting practitioners and educators. The reason this goal is so important for our broadly defined accounting profession is that we are in market for talent with other traditional learned professions such as medicine, law and engineering (and other future learned professions). Potential students want rewarding successful careers so they will migrate to learned professions that help make a difference in the world. The key aspect to a learned profession is intellectual technique (research) that informs practice and teaching. If our accounting profession can enhance the link between research, practice and teaching, we can move towards a learned profession.

This article examines the evolution of cryptology as a business trait and a distinct state-controlled and -regulated profession in sixteenth-century Venice. It begins by briefly discussing the systematic development of cryptology in the Renaissance. Following an examination of the amateur use of codes and ciphers by members of the Venetian merchant and ruling classes, and subsequently by members of all layers of Venetian society, the article moves on to discuss the professionalization of cryptology in sixteenth-century Venice. This was premised on specialist skills formation, a shared professional identity, and an emerging professional ethos. The article explores a potential link between the amateur use of cryptology, especially as it had been instigated by merchants in the form of merchant-style codes, and its professional use by the Venetian authorities. It also adds the profession of the cifrista—the professional cipher secretary—to the list of more “conventional” early modern professions.

There is an obvious conceptual link between the words "professor" and "profession". May one however assume that being a professor entails belonging to a profession, an academic profession? One may have various motives for entering into and staying in the academy, eg the advantage of progression one the basis of one's own, independent efforts, earning a good salary and following one's calling to expend the energy and abilities one receives in life sensibly. Professors are expected to be (at least) adequate teachers; they are required to have and maintain specialised knowledge of their field and to generate new knowledge by means of the production and dissemination of original research results. Insofar as professions are characterised by their members having specialised knowledge or skills, performing specialised services, are bound by ethical codes and holding an acknowledged social status often expressed in titles, there should therefore not be any doubt as to the existence of an academic profession distinct from other professions (especially those related to the field of scholarship concerned). Practising academics should work towards the active acknowledgment by all of the professionalism of the professorial institution.

AbstractEducation in the twenty-first century and educational reforms are subjects of interest and discourse worldwide because of the link between education and development. What appears not to have been fully explored in the Nigerian context is the responsiveness of various professions, especially nursing, to the consistently changing educational system. Yet innovative advances in health care system in the twenty-first century demands that Nursing as a profession should prepare practitioners who are well equipped to meet the challenges of care within the context of a complex milieu. This paper, therefore, examines the Nigeria educational system, its reforms and current status of nursing education in Nigeria. Some of the challenges in the emergence of professional nursing in Nigeria and the progress made so far to advance professional as well as university education for nurses are articulated with propositions of possibilities and the gains for the Nigeria nation.

The study primarily looks upon the areas of skills and expertise of elderly and their ability to generate employment based on their own experiences. The study was done in Mandandeupur Municipality of Kavre, where 106 elderly were interviewed regarding their knowledge and experiences, skill transfer and its benefits for younger generation. The study also examines the current status of elderly in the society as well as their economic contribution in their families. Conducted in a rural location; almost all of the elderly were involved in agriculture as their main profession and had started their line of profession without any prior trainings of any sort. This further shows the need of initiating programs via government to link older people with younger generation for skill transfer and innovations in traditional farming system as they still see the relevancy of their profession in the coming ten years. Although the younger generation is shifting towards modernization and glamorous professions rather than agriculture, older people still believe that embracing their line of work can improve younger generations’ social status and generate adequate revenue. It is evident that their traditional skills are currently capable of contributing to their economy so combining that with modern techniques can contribute to better income and employment generation as well.

AbstractIt has long been known that Italy is characterized by the highest levels of professional regulation in Europe, but little attention has been given to the link between professional regulation and educational stratification. This article investigates the association between social origins and education by focusing on fields of study within tertiary education and by disaggregating the upper class of social origin into different micro-classes of professionals. Thus, since these professions are regulated in the first place by educational fields of study, it assesses how processes of social closure enhance occupational intergenerational immobility in the professional employment in Italy. Recently, deregulation of liberal professions in Italy has been central in many public and political debates. It contributes to these debates by examining the micro-level dynamics in the professionals’ social reproduction and related practises of social exclusion, which may have strong implications for policy interventions. By using ISTAT’s “Sbocchi Professionali dei Laureati” survey (2011), and employing multinomial logistic regressions, it shows how social selection into highly regulated fields of study is guided by parents’ professional domain. The analyses indicate that both sons and daughters of licensed professionals are more inclined to graduate in a field of study that is in line with the father’s profession and that this propensity is stronger among children of regulated self-employed professionals.

The article is devoted to theoretical approaches in the domain of sociology of professions and in particular the application of the concepts of actor-network theory in the study of the phenomenon of professions. Social transformations of the late XX — early XXI centuries, and, in particular, changes in the professional structure of society lead to criticism of the profession as a category of analysis and the existing analytical apparatus of "social sociology" in the study of professions and occupations. The article lists and considers the main paradigms and approaches to the study of the phenomenon of professions in the sociological perspective, the main angles and emphases within these approaches. The text presents the basic terms and ideas of the actor-network approach as one of the sociological perspectives, presents the basic terms and concepts of this area of sociological theorizing. An attempt was made to apply the concepts of actor-network approach to the profession as a socio-technical actor network and the formation of the profession (professionalization) as a process of translation and creation of the actor network, "monopolization of expertise" by the profession as an extended network. The article presents examples of consideration of the activities of professionals and their interactions in socio-technical systems in the research of the actor-network approach and considers the possibility of applying the principles of actor-network theory in the context of research professions and professional structure of society. An attempt is made to generalize the characteristics and activities of professionals carried out in the framework of research in the actor-network approach and find potential starting points for the study of professions in line with actor-network theory. Socio-technological nature of professions, the existence of the profession as a network of interactions and at the same time a professional as an actor in other networks, the length of networks of expert knowledge as the dominant way to explain phenomena, can be considered as general principles of professional activity.

Teaching is a profession that gives rise to all types of professions. Profession means that someone had complete knowledge about a specific field like doctor, engineer, accountant and lawyer. Goal of this study was to link likeness of teaching as profession with presence of blood in urine. Sum of 89 students participated in this study. Urine analysis of all these subjects was performed by urine dipstick test. The existence of red blood cells in urine is known as hematuria and it is of two types. First one is that which shows the symptoms of brown coloration of urine. 11.76% males had blood in urine and 88.24% had no blood in urine while 18.37% females had blood in urine and 81.63% had no blood in urine. 50% males and 14.29% females had blood in urine while 50% males and 85.71% females had no blood in urine. End result of this study was that presence or absence of blood in urine had no co-relation with likeness of teaching as profession.

Social work education at the postgraduate level is faced with various academic and non-academic issues. Despite the compatibility of these methods with our culture, the paucity of local research and knowledge related to our community which are necessary for the uplift of the profession is impacting its progress. So far, Pakistan has no national and provincial council of social workers that could link them with the international social workers’ Federation whereby it could build their professional competence and capacity. This gap between theory and practice can be filled by developing a link between the two domains. Lack of public awareness regarding the field and the deteriorating role of inadequately trained field supervisors working for different organizations are other contributing factors. The study suggests that professional social workers should be inducted into all the social welfare organizations so that the new undergraduate students could be interested in taking admissions in BS social work degree.

Improving professional training and optimizing the work of doctors who provide medical care to patients who come into contact with harmful occupational factors require the approval of a professional standard for the occupational pathology physician. The purpose of the study was to analyze the opinion of the professional community about the importance of various labor functions and labor actions, priority knowledge and skills of occupational pathologists in the development of a professional standard. To achieve this goal, an on-line survey of physicians in occupational pathology and occupational medicine was conducted. Analysis of the survey results showed that the significance of professional competencies is evaluated by specialists to varying degrees. Primary focus is on examination of professional suitability and the link between diseases and the profession. However, correlations of competencies of various blocks indicate the importance of all areas of work of a professional pathologist, which should be taken into account when training specialists in this profile.

The research of value-semantic basics of psychologists’ professional activity is topical for the science of psychology and its practice. The results of the empirical research are displayed in this article and the purpose of this research is the studying of the value-semantic component of psychologists’ professional activity. Planning the research we assumed from the hypothesis that the value-semantic basics of professional activity in the aspect of its main focus and its semantic integration are qualitatively different among the psychologists who differ in the degree of fullness of the meaning of life; as a resource of mindfulness so a tendency to professional self-realization here are proper characteristics for those psychologists who are more thoughtful and independent with the choice of their profession along with satisfaction of the choice of their profession. The sample of the research is a group of 89 practicing psychologists. The clustering of the methodological indicators by the parameters of existential fulfillment at the first stage both by the parameters of subjective quality in the choice of a profession at the second stage allowed us to describe the value-semantic component of the professional activity among the psychologists who are different in the indicated signs. As a result, we've made the conclusions that the valuesemantic basics of the psychologist’s professional activity have specificity which is depended on how much the professional builds his life generally according to his own meanings and values and how positively he assesses his own professional choice. Those psychologists who fill their lives with meaning to a greater extent are oriented towards how the psychological profession multifaceted is along with its helping meaning; they integrate the organization and semantic aspects in their professional context, link their personal and professional values and meanings and realize themselves professionally. Those psychologists who fill their lives with meaning to a less extent they comprehend their professional activity through more external parameters, and they are focused on homeostasis with the surrounding society. A resource of mindfulness, a tendency to professional self-realization and understanding how important their professional activity is and proper characteristics for those psychologists who are more thoughtful and independent with the choice of their profession along with satisfaction of the choice of their profession; the psychologists with an average level of expression of these parameters of the choice of a profession are characterized by a certain inconsistency at their emotional level both less pronounced meaningfulness, and also they keep a certain distance from people in tensed situations.

The key concepts that assist to reflect the essence of the process of professional self-realization of police officers have been determined.
The professional self-realization of the personality, which is determined by the value and sensory, intellectual and motivational features of the personality, has been studied. Modeling the experience of professional self-realization is the support of the personality for self-development of intellectual and volitional actions. This process is most productive in adolescence – at the time of completion of the development of readiness to choose a particular profession, defining oneself in a possible professional role. The main point of the studied process is the search for a professional image of “oneself”.
It has been noted that the key stages of professional self-realization’s formation are: choice of educational institution, place of work (professional self-determination), subsequent choice of the type and direction of activity, formation within the chosen profession, professional growth, which reflects the effectiveness of professional self-realization. Thus, successful self-realization within the profession is based on a reasonable choice of place of study and future profession, continuous professional self-growth and self-development within labor activity, as well as satisfaction with the way of professional life and career.
It has been studied that the development of the value sphere of the personality of law enforcement officers contributes to the optimization of their behavior and self-realization in such spheres of life as profession, family life, relationships, hobbies. The motivational component is one of the basic in the system of moral regulation of activities and behavior of professionals and includes a positive attitude to the chosen type of professional activity, the desire for self-realization and achievement, moral and professional attitudes and interests. Motivation acts as a link between the true goals, ideals, beliefs of the cadet and the actions, deeds, decisions he makes.
The author has proved the expediency of forming value regulators of behavior and motivational sphere of future law enforcement officers in higher educational institutions with specific learning conditions, which may increase the efficiency of professional activity and self-realization of police officers in modern conditions.

Purpose This study aims to examine the setting of International Standards on Auditing (ISA) 701 on disclosing key audit matters (KAMs) to explore the role of standard setting in maintaining or reconstituting the relationship of the auditing profession with preparers and users of financial reports. Design/methodology/approach This study draws on concepts from the sociology of the professions literature and the regulatory space metaphor. Data comprises comment letters and other documents pertaining to the setting of ISA 701. Findings The study shows that the KAM reporting requirement is part of the ongoing re-calibration of the regulatory arrangements governing auditing, which started in the early 2000s. This study interprets standard setting as a site for negotiating the relationships between linked ecologies in the audit regulatory space, namely, the auditing profession, preparers of financial statements and users of audited reports. This study identifies three processes involved in setting ISA 701, namely, reconstitution of the rules governing auditors’ reports as a link between the three ecologies, preserving boundaries between the auditing profession and preparers and negotiation aimed at balancing competing interests of the interrelated ecologies. Originality/value The study offers insights into the role of regulatory rule setting as a central medium through which the adaptive relationship of the profession with its environment is negotiated.

In this essay, I address the question of whether a clear-cut division of labor can be maintained between what a philosophical counselor attempts to accomplish in a counseling context and what a formally trained psychologist endeavors to bring about in the same context. The defense of this outlook proceeds by maintaining a bifurcated analysis between the philosophical problem implied by the client’s predicament and the cause of the client’s problem. Thus, the job of a philosophical counseling, so to speak, is to focus on the former, and the responsibility of a psychologist is to concentrate on the latter. Certainly, the intuition behind affirming this viewpoint has the tide of victory set in its favor. However, I strongly suspect that its apparent strength rests upon a confusion of what would qualify as an accurate philosophical statement implied by the client’s problem. In fact, I argue that any philosophical statement that correctly expresses the psychological predicament of the client is going to be related to what caused the client’s problem in the first place. Thus, I conclude that because of this link, a philosophical counselor cannot avoid psychologizing, to some extent, the predicaments of a client while practicing philosophical counseling.

Health care in Bangladesh is in a sad condition, with not enough doctors and nurses available to serve its people, but, even with this limited number of health care professionals, better care would be possible if greed for money and unaccountability to the people were controlled by the Government. Conditions for members of the nursing profession are not acceptable for those who are dedicated to serving the sick. Acknowledgement of nursing’s professional dignity is almost completely absent. In addition, the salary earned is not enough to make a living. There are in existence professional associations who are struggling for the rights of the nursing community, although few concrete results have yet been seen. This article is written from the perspective of the author’s position as a member of the Board and Treasurer of the International Association of Bioethics, and her interest in feminism and bioethics, which justifies her link with oppressed nurses (because most are women) and unethical practices in the nursing profession in Bangladesh.

A Polish nurse during SARS-CoV-2 pandemic – various aspects of following a nursing profession A nurse as well as a midwife belong to independent professions which inherently involve performing numerous tasks and functions in various areas and in various positions, which simultaneously requires from these professions respecting the rules of law. In health-threatening conditions, for example during a pandemic, especially when all social groups are exposed to danger and when danger arises unexpectedly, nurses become an important link in the process of providing health security to everybody who needs it. In such situations nurses are obliged to perform their professional duties as well as possible and, at the same time, they have to tackle numerous family responsibilities. No matter if they take direct care of patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus or those possibly suffering from COVID-19, work as university lecturers teaching prospective nurses or hold managerial positions, they always face professional difficulties and dilemmas or even real dangers. Although the challenges which nurses face during the pandemic tend to change week by week, nurses, with time, learn to respond to them for the sake of other people’s welfare.

A Polish nurse during SARS-CoV-2 pandemic – various aspects of following a nursing profession A nurse as well as a midwife belong to independent professions which inherently involve performing numerous tasks and functions in various areas and in various positions, which simultaneously requires from these professions respecting the rules of law. In health-threatening conditions, for example during a pandemic, especially when all social groups are exposed to danger and when danger arises unexpectedly, nurses become an important link in the process of providing health security to everybody who needs it. In such situations nurses are obliged to perform their professional duties as well as possible and, at the same time, they have to tackle numerous family responsibilities. No matter if they take direct care of patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus or those possibly suffering from COVID-19, work as university lecturers teaching prospective nurses or hold managerial positions, they always face professional difficulties and dilemmas or even real dangers. Although the challenges which nurses face during the pandemic tend to change week by week, nurses, with time, learn to respond to them for the sake of other people’s welfare.

The aim of this conceptual review paper is to uncover the link between coaching psychology and organisation development. While coaching is one of the fastest-growing professions, it has been argued to lack good research data. Nonetheless, executive coaching has grown from a rogue and unstandardised process to a profession with proven results and a credentialing process. Upon exploring the history of the coaching psychology intervention as it has grown into a profession, it is evident that executive coaching has a connection to the business world and truly started to define itself in the 1980s. Its roots clearly define its strong ties to the organisation development field as a positive-focused development tool which is exemplified through numerous coaching outcome studies. It is hoped that more collaborative studies can be undertaken between the OD consultants and the coaches to improve organisational performance both at the micro (individual) and macro (organisation) level.

The activity of teachers implies a good professional training doubled by teaching skills, being necessary a continuous training that begins with the initial training carried out in universities and advances with the evolution in career marked by the gradual achievement of didactic degrees for Romanian pre-university education. The standard for the teaching profession includes: the level of knowledge necessary for the development of the teaching profession, skills specific to the teaching activity that can be improved with the actual teaching experience and with the evolution in the teaching career. The training and improvement of human resources influences the quality of the teaching process as well as the school results obtained by students at national exams, being an indicator in establishing the quality of the education system not only at school level but also globally, seen through the whole pre-university education system.

Introduction. The main competencies of nursing staff are clinical, communication and digital. Qualitative changes in competencies are associated with evidence-based nursing practice and digitalization of healthcare. The aim is the study the influence of motivational strategy on the development of nursing competencies through the prism of generational theory. Materials and methods. Data from sociological surveys of 317 nurses, assessment of 411 nurses on their participation in nursing research. Results. The use of generational theory and motivation theory by the management of medical organizations contributes to the creation of an atmosphere of professional and personal growth in the team, increases the authority of the nurse profession, and increases clinical, communication and digital competencies. Conclusion. The senior nursing corps is the leading link that responds to new challenges to the nursing profession. Planning for the development of nurses’ competencies should be accompanied by training and other active training methods.

PurposeDespite the fundamental role of culture in an organisational setting, little is known of how organisational culture can be sometimes determined/influenced by professional culture, particularly in the global south. Using Nigeria as a research focus, this article uses critical discuss analysis to examine the link between professional and organisational culture.Design/methodology/approachThis study uses qualitative research approach to establish the significance of professional culture as a determinant of organisational culture among healthcare organisations.FindingsWe found that the medical profession in Nigeria is replete with professional duties and responsibilities, such as professional values and beliefs, professional rules and regulations, professional ethics, eagerness to fulfil the Hippocratic Oath, professional language, professional symbols, medicine codes of practice and societal expectations, all of which conflate to form medical professionals' values, beliefs, assumptions and the shared perceptions and practices upon which the medical professional culture is strongly built. This makes the medical professional culture stronger and more dominant than the healthcare organisational culture.Research limitations/implicationsThe extent to which the findings of this research can be generalised is constrained by the limited and selected sample of the research.Practical implicationsThe primacy of professional culture over organisational culture may have dysfunctional consequences for human resource management (HRM), as medical practitioners are obliged to stick to medical professional culture over human resources practices. Hence, human resources departments may struggle to cope with the behavioural issues that arise due to the dominant position taken by the medical practitioners. This is because the cultural system (professional culture), which is the configuration of beliefs, perceived values, code of ethics, practices and so forth. shared by medical doctors, subverts the operating system. Therefore, in the case of healthcare organisations, HRM should support and enhance the cultural system (the medical professional culture) by offering compatible operating strategies and practices.Originality/valueThis article provides valuable insights into the link between professional culture and organisational culture. It also enriches debates on organisational culture and professional culture. We, therefore, contend that a strong professional culture can overwhelm and eventually become an organisational culture.

The shortages of medical staff, especially medical ones, are increasingly contributing to the failure of Polish health care. The available data and forecasts are pessimistic, therefore it seems appropriate to create a new medical profession that will be able to fill the gap that has arisen among medical personnel (especially in terms of surgical specialties and closely related anasthesiology and intensive therapy). The Physican Assistant is a common and respected profession in the health care system of many developed and developing countries. Currently, 18 countries around the world have a fully developed PA training system in which, after training, Physician Assistants fully perform their specific duties. In many countries, the PA program is a pilot program. These countries include, among others, Poland, where the duties of PA have so far been performed in the pilot program by paramedics after undergraduate studies. The PA pilot program was very positively assessed by the entire hospital community, both medical staff and management.

Mathematics as a subject has been taught since the early years of the education. Elementary school teachers take great responsibility to teach this difficult, abstract, but sometimes boring subject. Hypothetically privilege of understanding this subject is a certain number of students. Teachers not only need to be a professional of the subject, but at the same time they must be artists also. This requires much work, patience, determination, and much love for children and the profession. Students of the Pedagogy Faculty of University of Tetovo are getting prepared for teaching Mathematics in elementary schoolsfirst in the theoretical part and then in the practical part. Pedagogical practice is realized in elementary schools, observing Mathematic teaching by teachers with experience and realizations of Mathematics classes by students themselves. Mathematical observations enable students to benefit from the experience of other teachers. This observation develops students observation skills, develops communication skills with colleagues of the same profession. Observation also makes it possible for students to observe application in practice of knowledge in the pedagogical content. This research evaluates the impact of Mathematic teaching practice on Pedagogy Faculty students of Tetova University. Questionnaire collects data of 46 students. Results showes that PedagoyFacullty students benefited greatly from participating in Mathematics teaching practice because they were able to build proper confidence and competence in lesson preparation and developed skills and attitude of a teacher during the practice. It was also revealed that teaching practice helps students to learn how to participate in school activities. This study proves (Pearson coefficient) the hypothesis that students’ opinion is not depended by students general success and students’ Mathematics success. According the hypothesis Mathematics teaching practice benefits all students and it should be practiced without hesitation in the subject Didactics of Teaching Mathematics as well as in other subjects where didactic theories are studied.

Last summer, I was thinking about a public service project for my disability discrimination law course. I teach the course in fall, and try to incorporate a project each year. Integrating a public service project into a traditional doctrinal course fits within the trend toward expanding teaching techniques beyond the case method in order to better prepare students for the practice of law. It was also inspired in part by the Carnegie Foundation's 2007 report, “Educating Lawyers: Preparation for the Profession of Law,” as a way to foster “civic professionalism,” and to “[link] the interests of legal educators with the needs of legal practitioners and with the public the profession is pledged to serve.” That link is especially important to disability discrimination law, as issues critical to the lives of people with disabilities often go unnoticed and unaddressed by people without disabilities.

Following many battles, Public Service Interpreting and Translation (PSIT) is gradually evolving towards professionalisation. Wherever it is practiced, common issues have been identified: defining the profession, providing interpreting services for rare or minority languages, educating stakeholders, moving from training to education, and last but not least interpreting and translation quality. The lack of funding for PSIT courses within the current financial context is forcing stakeholders to work differently. The community of practice model can help PSIT stakeholders share resources and knowledge beyond the traditional boundaries set by courses, schools or countries. New technologies such as virtual conference tools and shared repositories are the essential “missing link” towards the progress of PSIT education. PSIT stakeholders need to join forces and pool efforts towards a constructive and innovative dialogue that would enhance the profession. Some forms of PSIT, such as legal interpreting and translation, have already broken barriers and gained professional recognition. However, PSIT should include all forms of PSIT contexts, including the medical or local government. Finally, once fully defined, PSIT and conference interpreting for spoken and sign languages could finally come together under the Interpreting profession umbrella. This is the achievable ultimate aim when working as communities of practice, small or large, language specific or generic, face to face or virtual.

AbstractThe history of South Africa's urban-based ‘struggle lawyers’ – a trajectory epitomized by Nelson Mandela – is much discussed by historians and biographers, reflecting a broader vein of historiography that celebrates anti-colonial legal activism. However, it was South Africa's ‘Native Reserves’ and Bantustans that produced the majority of African lawyers for much of the twentieth century. Indeed, two-thirds of the African justices who have sat on the post-apartheid Constitutional Court either practised or trained in the Bantustans during the apartheid era. The purpose of this article is thus to reappraise South Africa's ‘legal field’ – the complex relationship between professional formation, elite reproduction and the exercise of political power – by tracing the ambiguous role played by the Native Reserves/Bantustans in shaping the African legal profession across the twentieth century. How did African lawyers, persistently marginalized by century-long patterns of exclusion, nevertheless construct an elite profession within the confines of segregation and apartheid? How might we link the histories of the Bantustans with the better-known ‘struggle historiography’ that emphasizes the role of political and legal activism in the cities? And what are the implications of South Africa's segregated history for debates about the ‘decolonization’ of the legal profession in the post-apartheid era?

The professional identity of school counselors has evolved over time. This article traces the historical context driving this evolution, and suggests it is time for the profession to conjoin the roles of educational leader and mental health professional. This proposal is prompted by heightened awareness of unmet student mental health needs, referrals that go unmet, school counselors displaced by other mental health providers in schools, the potential loss of the unique school counselor role, and the natural link between the mental health professional role and the array of personal-social factors that impact student achievement. A conjoint professional school counselor identity that includes the roles of both educational leader and mental health professional positions school counselors to better respond to all students, including those with mental health needs. This article discusses potential roadblocks and offers suggestions for action.

Ethical issues and standards of property professions are being scrutinised. To date, no research has been carried out on the ethical standards in the property valuation profession in South Africa. This research compared the content of codes of ethics and professional conduct of the South African property valuation profession to international standards, and investigated the ethical standards and moral values held by registered valuers in South Africa. A self-administered survey, administered to 611 professional and professional associate valuers, was used. It measured five constructs of unethical behaviour layered into a survey adapted from Hoyt, Wright and Croft (2002). No statistically significant differences were found between different demographic factors in the ethical beliefs of South African valuers. A literature review comparing South Africa’s codes of conduct with those in the United States of America, Australia and New Zealand showed that the standards of ethics and professional practice in South Africa are not in line with international standards. South African valuers appear to be ethical and resist external pressures which could lead to unethical behaviour.

Abstract The aim of the article is to show the possibility of applying assumptions from ethics of social consequences when making decisions about actions, as well as in situations of moral dilemmas, by persons performing occupations of public trust on a daily basis. Reasoning in the article is analytical and synthetic. Article begins with an explanation of the basic concepts of “profession” and “the profession of public trust” and a manifestation of the difference between these terms. This is followed by a general description of professions of public trust. The area and definition of moral dilemmas is emphasized. Furthermore, representatives of professions belonging to them are listed. After a brief characterization of axiological foundations and the main assumptions of ethics of social consequences, actions according to Vasil Gluchman and Włodzimierz Galewicz are discussed and actions in line with ethics of social consequences are transferred to the practical domain. The article points out that actions in professional life are obligatory, impermissible, permissible, supererogatory and unmarked in the moral dimension. In the final part of the article an afterthought is included on how to solve moral dilemmas when in the position of a representative of the profession of public trust. The article concludes with a summary report containing the conclusions that stem from ethics of social consequences for professions of public trust, followed by short examples.

The surveying profession in the UK construction industry continues to be blighted by a skills shortage, and this continues to constrict growth. Therefore, it is suggested that this should make it easier for women and other underrepresented groups to be employed in the construction industry. While this is the case, barriers to entry have been well researched. This study aimed to identify what methods have been previously successful at increasing female engagement within the surveying profession in the UK. This study followed a mixed-method, complementary approach, combining quantitative and qualitative questions in an online questionnaire, which was distributed via social media (LinkedIn) and the researchers’ contacts, and achieved 44 responses over a period of six weeks. The target population was female UK residents employed in surveying roles. Quantitative data on both awareness and opinion of the methods used during previous initiatives to engage women with surveying underwent reliability analysis, descriptive statistical analysis, and a Spearman’s rank order correlation to assess the relationship between time in industry and opinion on the efficacy of the methods used in each initiative; however, no statistically significant relationship was found. To better understand the opinions of women already in the industry, the qualitative data underwent thematic analysis via inductive coding, the results of which then underwent descriptive statistical analysis. The study found a broad lack of awareness of previous initiatives, with most respondents having little or no awareness of the five initiatives examined. However, evidence suggested there was general support for the methods used in those initiatives, such as intervention at school age, increasing the visibility of women in surveying roles, and changes to workplace culture. There was no statistically significant link between time in industry and opinion on the efficacy of each initiative. Key themes included concerns regarding the implementation of current initiatives, and enthusiasm for intervention at school age as the best method to engage more women with the surveying profession. The findings have implications for both practice and future research. First, professional institutions, such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, should be aware of the limitations of the initiatives they put in place to encourage women into their profession. Second, the results have an impact on other professions. However, a cross-comparative study that examines initiatives by other professional institutions would be useful.

The aim is to innovate educational systems in order to improve the quality of knowledge and skills and increase competencies and competency models. The possibility for validation of knowledge and skills in the work environment has been considered and a constructive differentiated system, star class qualification for a specific position has been proposed. Education is focused on market demand and the possibility of establishing a link between secondary and higher education, credit recognition in certain disciplines, and creating opportunities for upgrading in the profession and certification of knowledge and skills. We are looking for an opportunity for freedom in education, duality and class in business training, which will materialize in adequate financial remuneration for the work invested.

The paper sorts out the literature on education level and peoples potential income. This article analyzes the link between income and education level and worldwide data to discuss the relationship between income and education level. This study approaches the subject from three angles: the influence of education level on industry selection, the impact of education level on profession selection, and the link between education level and income. The paper review past research and article to further study the topic. For the research, the paper comes to the conclusion that there is a positive correlation between education and income. During the whole education life, there are two obvious jumps over the whole holistic study life. After finishing undergraduate student and getting a diploma, the income will increase faster than two. The student who chooses to pursue a professional degree has the highest income in the whole population. This article helps to understand the choice between employment and continuing education.

Purpose – The article's main purpose is to investigate the relationship between organizational and professional commitment and accountants' construction of corporate social responsibility (CSR) competencies. Design/methodology/approach – A survey of accounting professionals in Canada (chief financial officers/finance directors) was conducted to ask them about their organization's CSR position, their openness to CSR, involvement in related activities, the codified knowledge they use and their organizational and professional commitment. Findings – The results show the dominance of normative commitment to the profession or organization and its relationship with professional CSR training. Professional CSR training and organizational and other CSR training activities are also related to the professional's openness to CSR. Research limitations/implications – The study's main limitation is the small number of participants. Future research is needed to investigate the conditions under which normative commitment is developed. Practical implications – The results make a practical contribution by suggesting that organizations seeking to involve accounting professionals in CSR activities might want to consider encouraging them to get CSR training using professional resources because of its link to both forms of normative commitment. Further, the findings indicate that the profession could integrate CSR issues more extensively in its accreditation process to enhance its role as a resource provider in the construction of accountants' CSR competencies. Originality/value – To the authors' knowledge, the study is the first one to investigate the relationship between organizational and professional commitment and accountants' construction of CSR competencies.

This study determined the mediating effect of leadership trust on the link between organizational commitment and willingness to remain in the profession among 300 teachers in the Division of Davao del Sur, the Philippines, using a non-experimental quantitative descriptive-correlational research design. Weighted mean, Pearson r, and path analysis using AMOS were used for data analysis. Findings revealed that the level of Organizational Commitment and level of Job Satisfaction are “high,” while the level of willingness to remain in the profession is “very high.” Organizational commitment positively and significantly correlated with willingness to stay in the work (r=0.162) and leadership trust (r=0.573). Also, Leadership Trust positively and significantly correlated with overall Willingness to Remain in the profession (r=0.386). Utilizing path analysis, the study revealed complete mediation of leadership trust on the association between organizational commitment and willingness to remain in work. This means that leadership trust is why organizational commitment can influence the desire to stay in the profession.
