Abstract: This thesis aims at depicting the beliefs, values, and attitudes towards language in an Afro-American community, from two perspectives: the farm inhabitants themselves', together with the municipality inhabitants'.The corpus is composed of structured and semi-structured interviews, as well as other mechanisms of data collection. The Fazenda Maracujá community is located at the Conceição do Coité municipality, in the sisal producer region from Bahia's semiarid. The studies were developed from the methodological background of sociolinguistics, which conceives language in terms of both its linguistic aspects and in its relation with social issues, hence in the extra-linguistic domain. Thus, considering that the linguistic attitudes and, therefore, the representations of language and its variants are part of the object of sociolinguistics, we add to the abovementioned theoretical conception the social representation approach, according to which an attitude derives from the representations that are part of an object (language). Thus, these theories are the ones which, through the notions of conflict and contradiction, support the justification of beliefs and judgments in the informants' discourses concerning the local variant. Firstly, we approach the set of linguistic variations occurring in the phonological, morphological and syntactical levels of the community, so as to support the discussion o n the linguistic attitudes of the speakers. Then we separate the most general variations, already incorporated into the Brazilian Portuguese, from those characterizing rural speech, mainly in the further regions. We compare such results with studies on other regional variants, in order to observe whether there is any specific feature of rural Portuguese and/or any construction or words with African origin being used amidst those stigmatized in the community speech. Based on the conception that a linguistic variant conveys a set of socio-cultural values attached to the linguistic forms, the second aspect to be considered refers to the analysis of language from the point of view of social relations. Thus, we analyze excerpts on attitudes and language evaluation according to the proposed objective, taking the GR1 group (composed of illiterate informants, who spend most of their time in the community) as a type of parameter, comparing its discourses to GR2 (composed of literate informants, who keep a certain kind of regular relation to the outside of the community) and to GR3 (composed of informants from the seat of the municipality). From this, we observe the beliefs, the prejudiced attitudes materialized in language, produced inside and outside the community, which, somehow, may contribute to the stigmatization of such community

The colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third deadly cancer in the world, and in the last years its incidence rate has been increasing in Portugal. Given the relevance of the symbiosis between the intestinal microbiota and the host for body homeostasis, many studies have been focusing on the analysis of the microbiota associated with health and disease scenarios, namely with CRC. It is increasingly more important to know the microbial community associated with CRC, once it can be exploited as a tool for different clinical applications against CRC. As such, the present study intended to perform a preliminary characterization of the non-cultivable and cultivable bacterial community isolated from tumoral (TT) and adjacent healthy (TN) mucosa tissues of patients with CRC. Additionally, it was tested the antimicrobial potential and antibiotic resistance of cultivable bacterial isolates in order to verify how they behave under stressful conditions (i.e., presence of pathogens and antibiotics). It is also presented a short review on the applications of microorganisms or their abilities to fight CRC. In a general view it was observed some difference between the diversity of bacterial community from TN and TT samples, according to the DGGE profiles. Identical genera of bacteria were identified in TN and TT samples (e.g., Escherichia, Klebsiella, Pseudomonas), although some were only found in TN (e.g., Citrobacter) or TT (e.g., Enterococcus). Some bacterial isolates showed antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and Gramnegative pathogens, and all of them were resistant to at least three different antibiotics. These responses help to understand the behavior of gut bacteria under infectious aggressions, which often occur in CRCaffected patients. On the other hand, given the relevance of gut microbiota on CRC development, the biotechnological abilities of bacteria have been explored as complementary or adjuvant therapeutics for controlling CRC. They mainly involve microbiota modulation through the consumption of pro- and prebiotics, and fecal microbiome transplantation, bacteriophage therapy, but also other groundbreaking strategies targeting CRISPR, essential and resistant bacterial genes, and quorum sensing systems.

This research paper aims to study the importance of the Portuguese diaspora in the foreign policy of Portugal and the development of relations in a bilateral aspect. It focuses mainly on the cultural axis and considers a specific case: the Portugal-Australia case. Starting from a general plan, ending with a specific one, it begins by presenting a study of the Portuguese foreign policy, from its three historical axes to the fourth axis: that of the communities. It also goes through the analysis of an essential tool, diplomacy, and exploration of a current concept applied to the main topic: public diplomacy. The study outlined here gives emphasis to the cultural aspect, for this reason is presented a brief analysis of the foreign cultural policy of Portugal. Finally, the study case is brought out: the Portuguese community in Australia applied to the analysis of the Portugal – Australia bilateral relations. In this last chapter, I analyze the dynamics of civil organization as cultural promotion actions considering the Portuguese State and the Portuguese community allies in the promotion of Portugal.

This thesis aims at revisiting the personal pronoun system of the Afro-Indigenous Portuguese, that is, the Brazilian Vernacular Portuguese spoken in the Maroon communities in the northern Brazil, such as Jurussaca/PA, which has as distinctive feature the black and indigenous ethnic background. It is undertaken a non-monolithic approach to the studies of Portuguese language, corroborating the hypothesis of the \'Brazilian vernacular Portuguese of Para dialect continuum\', which inserts the Jurussaca Community in one of its extreme edge: the afro-Brazilian Portuguese. As theoretical and methodological framework it is taken the interface between (a) ethnolinguistics, which studies the relationship between culture and language of a group, through ethnographic research in the specific Community; and (b) the discourse analysis in Bakhtin\'s perspective, which states that the use of language is implemented effectively in all human activities through oral and written utterances. Accordingly, the proposal, here undertaken, is to identify and analyze the discursive genres, both oral and written, aiming at revisiting the personal pronoun system in the textuality of Jurussaca Community - previous research dealt only with oral genres. Three discursive genres are proposed for the Community: Social (interview and litany genres), Institutional (Minutes/Record genre) and School (school notebook, school essays, personal letters, school newspaper genres). The research studies conducted in the Jurussaca Maroon Community, enabled the production a set of material that did not cover the entire socio-history of Jurussaca, but provides a very significant idea of such socio-history, which lead to the following conclusions: (a) based on territorial morphology of Jurussaca, which resembles the Timbira indigenous settlements, it is proposed the hypothesis that the indigenous groups that contributed to the formation of the people of Jurussaca belong to the Jê group. However, it is not ruled out the possible presence of individuals with Tupi ethnicity in the formation of this Community. In contribution to previous researches that have already pointed to the African ethnicity connections of such community, it is stated that it should be referred to as afroindigenous rather than afro-Brazilian. In the surveys, it is observed the 1st. person plural form nós we is attested in all syntactic positions of PVBJ. Nós we was attested in genres in which it was not expect to be - such as the minute/record genre - reinforcing not only that the features of 1st. person is a strong trait in the speech of PVBJ, but still it is a marked form in this language variety. The clitic forms of 3rd. accusative person o/a him/herand dative (and expletives) lhe him/her were found in the database of the Community, however they are found only in three specific genres: essay, letter and minutes, attesting in such genres, the influence of the Brazilian standard. It is perceived that the production of these clitics in Jurussaca corroborates that these forms are possibly not part of the \'grammar of Jurussaca speakers\', but part of their linguistic competence. (c) and the most relevant finding is that the collected material, which is an integral part of this thesis is the result of a research done through primary sources, such as, minutes genre, which was taken from the Record Book of the Associação dos Pequenos e Mini Produtores do Jurussaca. It is understood that this research contributes not only to the extension of understanding a vernacular variety in the northern region of the country, the Afro-Indigenous Portuguese, but still the expansion of the scope of investigation on the \'Brazilian Portuguese\'.

The focus of this study is the Portuguese language teaching practice under macro and micro perspectives with everyday school challenges at a public school located in a poor community in Zona Oeste, Rio de Janeiro. The purpose consists in generating understandings about some questions which emerged from classroom interactions and resulted in loggerheads and resistance against pedagogical labor, affecting the teaching-learning process in that context. The discussion and reflections were oriented by exploratory potential-like literacy activities mainly performed by two 8th grade classes during the year 2014. Adopting a Transgressive Applied Linguistics perspective and being aligned to propositions that question the traditional scientific methods, this study suggests the decoloniality of our practices as researchers, being guided by autoethnographic and ethnographic views. The proposal is based upon Exploratory Practice, as a pedagogical process focus, seeking to prioritize the quality of life in the classroom with active participation of all involved. Accommodating that proposal, I defend the idea of a Portuguese Language teaching focusing an interpretative reaction notion during literacy practices and a more conscious attitude from teachers towards language as praxis. Data is composed of a series of pedagogical sequences in classroom activities, as well as institutional information, accounts, reports, interviews and writings from my diary and field notes, which have been generated since my insertion in the municipal teaching system in 2013. The first accomplished activities pointed out to the traditional teaching models as the ones legitimated to be used in the PL classes and suggested the ratification of my role as a teacher from the students authorization. With the exploratory activities, the students perceptions about oneself and the other in the school context indicated denaturing of preconcepts and beliefs, enhancing the interrelations in the classroom. The achieved understandings collaborated with the apprehension of the other as someone potentially equal, emphasizing alterity as a necessary and permanent exercise to social and pedagogical practices. There was a change in the attitude towards the legitimating of PL, underlying the comprehension that the use of language and the literacy activities are present in everyday actions. The existence in that school context demanded a kind of research which questioned the very way of researching, especially by enabling the different knowledge carried by the students and their local histories to be understood as episteme, and creating visibility to the different worlds and cultures in contact at school space as possible worlds under construction. In this respect, the idealization of a school which could respond to all the needs of the less privileged classes is replaced by the perception that thinking about a possible school according to the local specificities turns out to be a more coherent and engaged proposal to those other possible worlds and actors towards the creation of contingent, procedural and continuing intelligibilities.

This research focuses on her 1970s and early 1980s writing in order to analyze the textual presence of the Spanish mystic poet Saint John of the Cross (1542-1591) who has become a community member in her work. On one hand I am interested in reflecting on the mystics contributions for this community by means of reading effects from his texts, viewpoint contrasts and limit experiences in language and body. On the other hand, I aim to explore both the re-elaboration of thoughts and the authorship of a 16th-century poet in a contemporary writing that considers historical and literary discourses from the margins In that sense, I shall consider Barthes and other essayist theories on authorship, authority, writing and effect, as well as ideas from Ethics as affect, otherness, hospitality and community.

Abstract: This thesis aims to understand how the discourse of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) about "Portuguese language" has been functioning, as founded on the basis of an imaginary of homogeneity of languages producing the evidence that "Portuguese language" is one and the same language spoken by all citizens in its eight Member States. In order to observe and analyze the production processes of these meaning effects, the corpus is constituted of materials about language(s) (in special the Portuguese Languages in Angolan, Brazilian, Cape-verdean, Bissau-Guinean, Mozambican, Portuguese, Santomean spaces), and about multilingualism, ethnoculturalism and languages policies. For this, besides academic studies, we collected normative instruments produced by CPLP and by its Member States' governs, by UNESCO, by The African Academy of Languages (ACALAN), such as Minutes, Recommendations, Declarations, Constitutions, Agreements, Statutes, Treaties, Protocols, Covenants, among others that, during the research, were relevant for the analysis. This work is inscribed in the realm of the History of Linguistic Ideas (HIL), under the materialist perspective, and configured by the theoretical and analytical devices of the Discourse Analysis - as proposed by Michel Pêcheux's studies (France, 1966-1983), and by Eni Orlandi's (Brazil, 1971-) - that allows to conjugate the history of the society and its ideology together with the history of the production of scientific knowledge about a language, and the history of the language(s). Based on this perspective, we described, interpreted and understood the complex way the production processes of meaning about Portuguese Language in the CPLP's discourse has been functioning taking as observation points the notions of "lusophony", "national language", "official language" and "linguistic policy" articulated to notions of "community", "nation" and "State". It is also highlighted the question of the International Organization taken on the evidence of being a homogeneous and supranational space. Our hypothesis is that the gesture of forming a community as the CPLP, in the way it is conceived, has been silencing meanings such as the one of the heterogeneity peculiar to "Portuguese language", the one of asymmetric relationship of this language to the other languages spoken in those Member States, or the one of the different ways this language has been historicized in those spaces, determining and being determined by the relationship always political among subjects and languages in the struggle for meaning. This way, we have understood by the analyses that the effects of meaning of Portuguese Language are adrift and oncoming if related to difference, what may make them correspond or not to national language, mother language or official language meanings, but always being other Portuguese Languages in space*

This paper presents an analysis of the nasality in the speech community of Fortaleza Nogueiras-MA, is which the postulates of the structuralism and generative theory are used to present nasal phonemes in the Portuguese language in Brazil and particulary in the analyzed corpus. The informants of this research are people with low formal education, who have always lived in rural areas, and they are over 60 years old. The Field Research was used in the data collection, phonographic transcription in the record, and the analytical descriptive method to analyze them. The theoretical framework presents issues related to Phonetics, mainly the Articulatory Phonetics; the Phonology, especially the Linear Phonology; and Morphology, with issues related to the definition and formation of words, particularly in diminutive and augmentative degree. We present a historical overview of consonants and vowel phonemes, in which we have focused the nasal phonemes, and their transformations, from Latin to Portuguese. With respect to Brazilian Portuguese, we describe the nasality from the conception of nasal phonemes of Camara Jr. (1970), also the progressive and regressive spreading concepts and the nasality treatment within the syllable. The main focus for this analysis is the progressive and regressive spreading of nasal resonance, from the three nasal consonant phonemes, that belongs to the Portuguese language / m /, / n / e // in grammatical and phonological words. For this analysis, it was considered the intralingual aspects as phonetic-phonological environmental, stress, syllable structure, words boundaries, grammatical and phonological words. We have discussed the nasality in the formation of diminutives and augmentative degrees and, lastly, we have presented some progressive and regressive nasalization rules, based on the features model proposed by Chomsky and Halle (1968 apud MATZENAUER)

This study investigates the key diplomatic and economic movements that occurred in international relations between Brazil and Mozambique in the last 30 years. The objective is to understand what caused the strong oscillations that characterized relations during this period, and in particular the development that took place over the last decade, when not only quantitative but also qualitative gains were achieved, as a result of intense international co-operation. This question will be explored through three analytical tools, namely co-operation agreements, trade flows and presidential visits. The argument of the paper is built on the historical-descriptive and deductive methods. Its sections address national interest, the political and economic formation of Mozambique, the history of relations between Brazil and Mozambique, trade flows of the member countries of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) and bilateral co-operation between Brasília and Maputo, especially in the agricultural sector. In conclusion, the work supports the hypothesis that from the 2000s, Brazil has adopted a more critical attitude towards globalization, thereby promoting horizontal relationships not only in terms of trade but also in terms of technology transfer. Brasília aims to both strengthen its economy and enlarge its sphere of influence, thereby forging a greater international role for itself.

The dissertation identifies the regulatory structures of free-to-air (FTA) television – broadcast via radio waves, free reception – in Portuguese-speaking countries: Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe, Timor East. It then analyzes the powers of the regulatory agencies of television, according to the legislation of each country in the period between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2012, and the way in which they are organized. The study then compares the financial and administrative autonomy of the regulatory authorities in relation to the political powers in which the state is organized and their ability to deliberate and impose sanctions, based on the analysis of legal norms. The proposed research is aligned with the perspective of Political Economy of Communication, in dialogue with approximate theoretical. Thus, the research identifies five agencies with legal duties to monitor the televised content: Entidade Reguladora para a Comunicação Social (Regulatory Authority for the Media – Portugal); Conselho Superior da Comunicação Social (Superior Council for Social Communication – Mozambique); Conselho Nacional de Comunicação Social (National Council for Social Communication – GuineaBissau); Conselho Nacional de Comunicação Social (National Council for Social Communication – Angola); Conselho Superior de Imprensa (Superior Council Press – Sao Tome and Principe). The work demonstrates that the Portuguese model of regulation of television has a range deeper than the other countries, bearing in mind that the regulatory activity refers to any content transmitted – information, entertainment and advertising – and that the entity responsible for this monitoring works in conjunction with two other agencies, a their dedicated to the control of the ownership concentration in the media and the other with targeted surveillance to aspects of the transport signal. It also demonstrates the existence of regulatory bodies in Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau, whose legal powers are given specifically on the informative content, and that the entities of Angola and Sao Tome and Principe have reduced range, merely warn about violations practiced. Finally, the dissertation finds that two other countries, Cape Verde and East Timor, have not yet created monitoring entities the content of television, although this initiative is already established in law and / or in official documents, and the eighth country investigated, Brazil, is the only one not to have even forecast implementation monitoring of the television content.

This paper presents the main objective to analyze the Technical Cooperation Project for implementation of the Convention to Combat Desertification, within the Sustainable Management of Land, recognized by the acronym PCT/INT/3201, and agreed, through a Memorandum of Understanding, between the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) and the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), given that all states of the Community are members of the Convention. Running this PCT had direct support of their own CPLP since that would serve African Countries of Portuguese Official Language and Timor Leste, and also had the technical and financial assistance of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the support and assistance of the Global Mechanism (MM) and the former Portuguese Institute for Development Support (IPAD). To achieve this greater goal, the following steps were performed: In the first chapter it studied the evolution of the international discussion on desertification. Therefore, it sought to understand the issue of desertification in a general context. Then it explored the understanding of international cooperation, based on the construction of theoretical rationalist perspectives international on relations in order to facilitate the understanding of the international discussion on desertification, to come to the knowledge of the Convention to Combat Desertification, with its various Conferences of the Parties (COP) and meetings. In the second chapter it discussed the Community of Portuguese Language Countries and its performance in relation to the environment. This objective was satisfied through the contextual study of the creation of the CPLP, specifying on which it is based, your goals and knowledge about the structure of this community. It also sought to explore the understanding of the physical space of the Member States of the CPLP and their geographical locations, and the situation of these States, in particular the PALOP and Timor Leste, in relation to the process of desertification and/or degradation of land. Then, they analyzed the international partnerships mentioned above, in the development of PCT CPLP/FAO 3201. Finally, in the third chapter, it was thoroughly investigated in this Project. Therefore, it sought to study it from the history of your proposal through the understanding of its two phases (2008-2010, 2010-2011), to examine the plans of interviews conducted with three actors, which had partial or full participation in the Project. With these interviews, it sought to develop a better understanding of the initial challenges, the difficulties of implementation, contributions and perceptions of the end situation, check the lessons learned from this PCT. It was concluded that, despite failures and difficulties presented by the project, this brought contributions to help implement the UNCCD, which will be observed throughout the work.

Education has been the target of several actions at the global level, either by national governments or international institutions. However, this sector still presents several challenges, not always visible in the analysis of figures released by different agencies regarding the evolution in access to education. In the specific case of Guinea-Bissau, it is important to highlight the difficulties of access to education for some communities that live in the most isolated and rural areas of the country. The answers given by the population to the lack of action by the State to resolve the problems of the Guinean society are visible through active participation in the creation of schools managed by the community itself. The community schools, which are seen as a complement to public institutions, are an added value for the population because they promote and encourage the participation and the achievement of common goals, surpassing partially the problem of literacy and, consequently, of poverty. Community education emerges as a response to the problem of poverty and the development of rural areas, where support for development cooperation projects carried out by NGOS in partnership with the IPAD, now Camões I.P., are essential to the maintenance and sustainability of this type of education.

International studies on the intestinal habits of apparently healthy populations, although broad and rigorous, have shown that approximately 95% of the people have between three bowel movements per day to three per month. In Brazil, similar studies which take into consideration culture, lifestyles and eating habits, are inexistent. The objective of this study was to make the transcultural adaptation of the \"Bowel Function in the Community\" instrument to the Portuguese language, and to test its adapted measuring properties. The original instrument, developed by Reilly et al. (2000), has 70 questions organized by a specific grouping criteria: general intestinal habit; anal incontinence; urinary symptoms; anorectal diseases and surgical history; use of medical services; ans risk factors, which could contribute to the development of anal incontinence. The transcultural adaptation was based on Beaton et al. (2002), and involved two phases: translation of the instrument to the Portuguese language, and the validation of the content valid measuring properties, inter-rater and test-retest reliability. The first phase of the study included the translation and the backtranslation of the instrument by English language professionals; the evaluation of the original versions, translated and backtranslated by a committee composed of 5 coloproctologists fluent in English; a pre-test (1); a focal group, and a pre-test (2), using 30 subjects from the general population (10 in each test). During the second phase of the study, a randomized sample of 356 healthy subjects, over 18, from both sexes, and from different levels of formal education were interviewed, to test the Portuguese adapted version of the measuring properties. They constituted two samples: one used for the inter-rather reliability (120 subjects), and the other used for the test-retest (120 subjects) reliability. The adapted version resulted from the first phase, evaluated mainly the semantics and idiomatic changes to test the instrument´s content vality. Inter-rater reliability was validated at a 94% level of agreement between good and excellent. Test-retest reability was validated at a 60% level of agreement between moderate and excellent. Results from the study have shown that the adapted instrument can be made available for new applications to get more information on the intestinal habits of our population

Since the request of Portugal to join the European Economic Community in 1977 until the signing of the treaty in 1985, eight years of negotiations, agreements and declarations passed by, in which the country slowly adapted itself to the demands that could be integrated into the block. The country\'s economic situation has changed significantly in twenty years as it was incorporated to the European Community. Additionally, adherence to a unified currency, with the adoption of the euro in 1994, implied an acceptance of a single monetary authority, depriving the state of an important tool of macroeconomic management which is now used in a supranational level.

The objective of this work was to show the impact of the community funds on the capacity of creating the financial value of Portuguese companies. To achieve this, a theoretical framework was developed in which a reflection was made on several topics relevant to the research, namely the importance of investments for companies, concepts of financial performance, evaluation of traditional financial performance, the logic of value creation, metrics for measuring value creation and the cost of capital. In addition, several studies that had similar research objectives were analyzed, in order to observe the methodologies used and the research results achieved. The study analyzed the 166 companies that received Community funding in 2014 under the Innovation Incentive System. To measure the capacity to create value, the EVA indicator was used, since it allows to easily measure the value created in each period and can be obtained directly from the financial statements of the companies. The research results showed that the companies studied presented greater capacity for value creation, job creation and internationalization of the activity in 2016 (although only job creation and internationalization showed statistically relevant differences). However, the statistical tests performed did not show any relation between the better performance of the companies in the three indicators and the subsidies received, which means that, if possible, this positive evolution was due to other factors, such as the evolution itself of the Portuguese economy.

The present study aims at providing an assessment about convergence across Portuguese regions at NUTS III level, over the period of 1991-2003 where data is available and analyse the role of European regional policy in convergence process. First, this work provides an overview of the key developments in the study of economic growth and regional convergence, discussing the methodological issues that have arisen since the first attempts to analyse convergence. Then, review the existing empirical evidences of convergence in Europe. The empirical evidences reveal that regional inequality in Europe have not narrowed substantially, over the last years. Income differences across states have fallen, but disparities between regions within each state have risen. This raises the question as to whether the impact of regional funds favour or not, the cohesion over the whole European territory, particular, in Portugal. So, there are doubts about the effectiveness of European regional policy. Last, this study analyse the economic convergence across Portuguese regions by using the per capita GDP, as well, the productivity (GDP/employment).The empirical analysis uses the concept of (3 - convergence and the concept of a - convergence, testing the hypotheses of absolute convergence (poor economies growth faster than the rich economies) with the standard Barro equations. Evidences in per capita GDP allow to evaluate the results predicted by the neoclassical type of convergence towards a common steady state. The present study also investigate the role of European Regional Policy in convergence process, by analyse the impact of CSF II (1994-1999) on regional growth at NUTS III level.

The main purpose of this thesis is to determine whether or not are the decisiones a specific genre in Portuguese legal literature during the Ancient Régime, and then try to describe the most important characteristics and elements that differentiate them from other doctrinal genres. This work is divided into three parts. The first one will deal with the premises of this text, the opinion communis and its plurality of doctrinal works, which was a key feature of ius commune, and the development of high jurisdiction in Europe at the end of Middle Ages and Early Modernity; the focus will be the tension between indeterminacy of ius certum and the existence of certain courts with powers to decide ultimately. Then the main features of European decisiones will be presented from the comparison among the works of the most importante authors such as Matthaeus De Afflictis, Guido Papa, Octavianus Cacherano dOsasco, etc, and later distinguishing these works from some similar genres. The second part will consist in an analysis of the six most important Portuguese works on decisiones during 16th and 17th centuries (António da Gama, Álvaro Valasco, Jorge de Cabedo, Belchior Febo, Gabriel Pereira de Castro and António de Sousa de Macedo); each analyse will approach the following points: authors biography, general aspects of the book (amount of editions and place of the printings, for exemple), the formal strucute of the texts, the arguments in which the decisiones are grounded (Case Law, Statutes/Statutory Law and legal literature) and the subject of the decisio (Public Law, Civil Procedure, Private Law and Criminal Law). Finally, the third part will try to establish the relationship between the Portuguese decisiones and Colonial Brazil.

This research aims at examining the existing multicultural contradictions in the relations among deaf and hearing people from Digit-M-Ed São Paulo Project. In the core of the investigation, it also aims at confronting the way the concepts of multiculturalism (MOREIRA; CANDAU, 2011; ROJO, 2012; SANTOS, 2010) and critical collaboration (MAGALHÃES, 2010) are inserted in the research environment and how researchers, coordinators, students and, specially, Portuguese - Sign Language translators and interpreters contribute in the deaf – listeners relation in order to foster transformations in the discursive practices of the research participants. The production of this essay is justified by the introduction of different ways of reflecting about deaf and listener’s teaching-learning process in shared spaces. This study’s theoretical framework is founded on the Socio-Historical-Cultural Activity Theory (VYGOTSKY, 1930/1999; 1934/2008); LEONTIEV, 1977; ENGESTRÖM, 1987; LIBERALI, 2009) and on the multiculturalism and argumentation concepts (LIBERALI, 2013). It also presents Vygotsky’s concepts on the human development and how they are connected with the deaf. In methodological terms, it is organized as a Critical Collaborative Research (MAGALHÃES, 2004, 2007, 2009), which focus is on the subject and on its own action in development, with the purpose to observe the contexts and interfere on them in an attempt to cause transformations. Data was produced in meetings of Digit-M-Ed São Paulo Project, organized by the research group Language in Activities in School Contexts (LACE) from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP). Deaf and listener participation mediated by Portuguese - Sign Language translators and interpreters, who are also participants of the research, had been observed. This survey analysis point out to multicultural aspects and indicate that communicational barriers can be transcended through critical collaboration among deaf participants, Portuguese - Sign Language translators and interpreters and listeners
