Java is growing in appropriateness and usability for high performance computing. With this increasing adoption, issues relating to combining Java with existing codes in other languages become more important. The Java Native Interface (JNI) API is portable but too inconvenient to be used directly owing to its low-level API. This paper presents Janet — a highly expressive Java language extension and preprocessing tool that enables convenient integration of native code with Java programs. The Janet methodology overcomes some of the limitations of JNI and generates Java programs that execute with little or no degradation despite the flexibility and generality of the interface.

ACDPis a Java application for processing protein circular dichroism (CD) spectra either individually or within a series. Data processing includes spectrum subtraction (`baseline correction'), conversion of the raw CD into units of mean residue ellipticity, wavelength monitoring and graphical inspection. Three different algorithms for secondary structure deconvolution have been implemented, and spectra can be analysed without the need for data reformatting, using a neural network approach, variable selection or linear combination of prototype spectra. The application is written entirely in Java and is thus portable to a wide variety of platforms, requiring only the Java Runtime Environment.

The market for applications developed for mobile devices is growing as the hardware capabilities increase while costs drop. At the same time, the inability to write code once becomes a noticeable problem resulting in the time consuming task of porting an application to a variety of mobile devices, which is true for languages like Java that have been designed to be portable across a range of hardware platforms. As a result, porting a Java application written for one device to another is often a tedious and time-consuming task for developers. This paper presents an intelligent CASE tool that assists the porting of Java mobile applications by automatically generating Java code fragments for the target SDK. SeqFinder automatically generates all minimal method invocation sequences that lead to an object of a specific type, thus relieving the programmer of manually searching the manufacturer-provided SDK Java archives. However, this tool is not applicable only to the Java ME platform and has been used as a fast type-browser for J2SE/J2EE applications.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to propose a novel approach to integrate portable document format (PDF) interface into Java-based digital library application. It bridges the gap between conducting content operation and viewing on PDF document asynchronously. Design/methodology/approach – In this paper, the authors first review some related research and discuss PDF and its drawbacks. Next, the authors propose the design steps and implementation of three modes of displaying PDF document: PDF display, image display and extensible markup language (XML) display. A comparison of these three modes has been carried out. Findings – The authors find that the PDF display is able to completely present the original PDF document contents and thus obviously superior to the other two displays. In addition, the format specification of PDF-based e-book does not perform well; lack of standardization and complex structure is exposed to the publication. Practical implications – The proposed approach makes viewing the PDF documents more convenient and effective, and can be used to retrieve and visualize the PDF documents and to support the personalized function customization of PDF in the digital library applications. Originality/value – This paper proposes a novel approach to solve the problem between content operation and the view of PDF synchronously, providing users a new tool to retrieve and reuse the PDF documents. It contributes to improve the service specification and policy of viewing the PDF for digital library. Besides, the personalized interface and public index make further development and application more feasible.

The current product of fingerprint attendance systems offer minimal, nonflexible and costly system. With an increasing awareness of efficiency of fingerprint attendance system, the implementation of portable fingerprint attendance system has gain interest. The implementation is achieved using a combination of hardware and software development. A Motorola handphone model Atrix 4G is being used as a hardware device while software development is based on the Android operating system. Software called Eclipse is used for the development of android application which based on the Java script language. In this paper, the result of the system were shown sequentially, demonstrating that the system able to run safely and efficient in any real-time conditions.

Kebutuhan informasi sekarang ini menjadi suatu kebutuhan yang tidak bisa diremehkan terutama di dunia pendidikan, bagi kalangan mahasiswa informasi harus cepat dan akurat agar tidak ketinggalan sesuatu hal. Penyampaian informasi kepada mahasiswa pada Universitas Ubudiyah Indonesia sekarang ini hanya bisa diakses melalui website, grup facebook, dan sms gateway. Penggunaan website dan grup facebook dalam memberikan pelayanan informasi masih memiliki kekurangan dalam pelaksanaanya, berdasarkan data dari Direktorat Administrasi Akademik (DAA) bahwasanya masih banyak mahasiswa yang ketinggalan informasi karena tidak adanya notifikasi khusus yang bersifat portable kepada mahasiswa. Selain itu Universitas Ubudiyah Indonesia juga memiliki smartphone khusus berbasis Android yang merupakan salah satu fasilitas yang ada. Fasilitas ini sangat mendukung karena Android bersifat portable dan mudah digunakan. Faktor inilah yang menjadikan penulis membangun aplikasi portal informasi berbasis android. Untuk mendukung penelitian ini maka pengambilan data dilakukan di Direktorat Administrasi Akademik selaku bidang yang membawahi pendistribusian informasi seputar perkuliahan. Aplikasi ini dibentuk diatas bahasa JAVA sebagai algoritma dan struktur data serta bahasa pemograman XML sebagai bahasa yang membentuk interface dari aplikasi. Notifikasi yang dikirimkan langsung ke smartphone Android menggunakan layanan Firebase Cloud Messaging. Kata kunci : Android, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Java, Portal Informasi, Web Service

Radio Detection and Ranging (Radar) merupakan sistem pengideraan jauh dengan sensor aktif. Bagian penting radar terdiri dari transmitter (Tx) yang dihubungkan dengan antenna transmitting yang mengirimkan gelombang elektromagnetik ke target, receiver (Rx) yang dihubungkan dengan sebuah antenna receiving akan menerima gelombang hasil pantulan dari target radar. Bagian output dari terminal transmitter akan menghasilkan sebuah persamaan sinyal S(t). Antenna Tx akan mengkonversi sinyal tersebut dan mengarahkan sinyal radio menuju target. Sinyal yang menuju ke target akan menabrak target. Dengan karakteristik target radar sebagian sinyal tersebut dipantulkan kembali menuju antenna penerima radar. Persamaan sinyal hasil pantulan, Sr(t) akan diterima antenna penerima radar dan diteruskan ke bagian penerima. Bagian penerima radar selanjutnya menganalisa persamaan sinyal Sr(t) sehingga dapat menganalisa dimana keberadaan dan jarak dari target radar. Java adalah bahasa pemrograman yang dapat digunakan untuk program aplikasi perhitungan perencanann radar ini. Java memiliki sifat portable atau tidak tergantung pada platform. Dengan begitu Java dikenal dengan istilah „write once, run everywhere’, yang berarti kode program hanya ditulis sekali, namun dapat dijalankan dibawah platform manapun tanpa harus melakukan perubahan kode program. Hand phone yang memenuhi platform standar MIDP 2.0 dan CLDC 1.1 yang dapat digunakan untuk menjalankan program ini.

Cooperatives and MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) are some of the sectors that make a positive contribution to economic growth in Indonesia. The contribution obtained from the existence of MSMEs to GDP reaches 60% with the employment of 116.7 million people or 97.02% of the total workforce that is already working. Even though they have a big role, on the one hand, MSMEs have not been able to optimally manage their business, especially related to business management. The majority of MSME actors have not benefited from the use of digital technology because most MSME business actors have not fully understood the importance of using digital technology. The E-SMEs applications that will be developed for partners in this research are applications built using Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) technology. Java Enterprise Edition technology is a Java development for enterprise solutions, ranging from web-based applications using servlets and JSPs and android-based applications. The advantages of Java Enterprise Edition technology can create a reliable and portable application because Java can be implemented on various platforms and operating systems. In making this application using the Waterfall method which refers to the system development process model called the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC). This research method is a research and development method with the ADDIE approach. The developed e-SMEs application can later be used by Fiara Sulam to do online marketing and also digitally manage their finances.Keywords : E-SMEs MSMEs; Business Management

This paper focuses on the prototyping stage of the design cycle of ubiquitous music ecosystems. The authors present three case studies of prototype deployments for creative musical activities. The first case exemplifies a ubimus system for synchronous musical interaction using a hybrid Java-JavaScript development platform, mow3s-ecolab. The second case study makes use of the HTML5 Web Audio library to implement a loop-based sequencer. The third prototype—a sine-wave oscillator—provides an example of using the Chromium open-source sand-boxing technology Portable Native Client (PNaCl) platform for audio programming on the web. This new approach involved porting the Csound language and audio engine to the PNaCl web technology. The PNaCl Csound environment provides programming tools for ubiquitous audio applications that go beyond theWeb Audio framework. The limitations and advantages of the three approaches proposed—the hybrid Java/JavaScript environment, the HTML5 audio library and the PNaCl Csound infrastructure—are discussed in the context of rapid prototyping of ubimus ecosystems.

Анотація:

Troll-line is one of the fishing gear, which categorized as a line-fishing with rod. Troll-line fishery in Palabuhanratu heavily depends on the installation of a deep-sea fish aggregating device (FADs). The deployment of FADs as a destined troll-liner’s fishing ground in southern Palabuhanratu, which geographically located at coordinates between 7o to 9o S and 104o to 106o E in the Indian Ocean. The FADs’ coordinates locations have been set in a portable handheld global position system (GPS) by fishers. This study provides new information on troll-liner catch-per-trip (CPT) based on fishers’ monthly data ranged from 2005-2018. The results showed that the highest catches were occurred between September to October every year with maximum catches rates was 1567, 2 kg/trip in February 2006 while the lowest was 174.10 kg/trip in August 2010. The average troll-liner catches from 2005-2018 was 740.33 kg/trip. Based on monthly catch data from 2005-2018, the highest CPT occurred in 2016.

The major economic sector in Bangladesh is agriculture, which contributes 19.6% of the nation's GDP and employs 63% of the residents. The agricultural products feature like growth, quality dependent on the soil condition. Now a day’s most of the farmer’s family in Bangladesh uses smart phone. Based on this availability of smart devices and huge potentiality of uses of the devices, this project and study have been done for finding the common most useful two features of soil like measuring the pH level and testing the moisture of soil instantly, which usually reported after a long-time traditional process of analysis. These android-based apps incorporated in the smart device, which help the farmer to plant crops based on the testing parameters - pH level and moisture displayed in the screen of the devices. After testing android apps suggests the farmers- which types crops they can plant in this field, it can also suggest the way of increasing and decreasing the pH level. Arduino Nano, OLED display, pH sensor, moisture sensor are the main hardware and XML, material design (for front end) and JAVA, SQLite database, (for back end) are the software uses in the project.

Code refactoring is a time-consuming and effort-intensive process that is applied for making improvements to source codes. There exist several refactoring techniques to improve software quality. Some of them aim to reduce the energy consumption of the software. However, the combination of applied refactoring techniques is crucial to the success rate. In addition, to provide sustainable services on portable devices such as mobile phones and laptops, which rely on batteries, improving and optimizing the energy efficiency is important. This study focuses on examining the effect of code refactoring techniques on energy consumption. A total of 25 different source codes of applications programmed in the C# and Java languages are selected for the study, and combinations obtained from refactoring techniques are applied to these source codes. The combinations applied are analyzed using the maintainability index. Power consumption estimation tools are used to measure the energy consumption of the original and refactored codes. The results show that the combinations significantly improve the software’s energy efficiency. The results will provide a better understanding of the relationship between the energy efficiency of software and refactoring techniques. Moreover, they will help developers to improve their object-oriented code in terms of both energy efficiency and sustainability.

This paper presents our work on a visual programming environment (VPE) for portable, implementation-independent, virtual reality (VR) applications. Previously, we have defined InTml, the Interaction Techniques Markup Language , a domain specific language for VR applications, and some initial, command-line based development tools. By using the concept of Model Driven Development (MDD) and with the aid of tools from the Eclipse Graphical Modeling Project (GMF), we built an IDE for VR applications, that allows the visual description of components, application creation, and code generation to targeted runtime environments in C++, Java, and ActionScript. We report some advantages and shortcomings in this approach for tool development, some results from our preliminary user studies and lessons learned. In general, an MDD based approach to VPE is challenging both in terms of learning curve and usability of the final IDE.

Use of ICT can provide many opportunities for physics education, and one of these opportunities is a use of physics simulations. Physicists professionals use complex simulations to solve real world problems, but for educational use simulations/animations not always have to be so complex. More lightweight simulations and animations can be used. Such simulations usually are more easily distributable through the Internet. Simulations and animations are important in physics education because they can help to visualize different physical processes and to provide some interactivity. This paper is focusing on a use of Physlets – small portable Java Applets, which can be used to simulate and animate different physical phenomena. The purpose of this paper is to give a brief overview of Physlets and to demonstrate in few examples the possibilities of adaption and customization of Physlets in the learning material. The growth in complexity of quantum mechanical software packages for modelling the physicochemical properties of crystalline materials may hinder their usability by the vast majority of non-specialized users. Consequently, a free operating-system-independent graphical user interface (GUI) has been developed to drive the most common simulation packages for treating both molecules and solids. In order to maintain maximum portability and graphical efficiency, the popular molecular graphics engineJmol, written in the portable Java language, has been combined with a specialized GUI encoded in HTML and JavaScript. This framework, calledJ-ICE, allows users to visualize, build and manipulate complex input or output results (derived from modelling) entirelyviaa web server,i.e.without the burden of installing complex packages. This solution also dramatically speeds up both the development procedure and bug fixing. Among the range of software appropriate for modelling condensed matter, the focus ofJ-ICEis currently only onCRYSTAL09andVASP.

AbstractGaia, an ESA cornerstone mission, will obtain of the order of 100 high-precision photometric observations and lower precision radial velocity measurements over five years for around a billion stars – several hundred thousand of which will be eclipsing binaries. In order to extract the characteristics of these systems, a fully automated code must be available. During the process of this development, two tools that may be of use to the transit community have emerged: a very fast, simple, detached eclipsing binary simulator/solver based on a new approach and an interacting eclipsing binary simulator with most of the features of the Wilson-Devinney and Nightfall codes, but fully documented and written in easy-to-follow and highly portable Java. Currently undergoing development and testing, this code includes an intuitive graphical interface and an optimizer for the estimation of the physical parameters of the system.

Reverse Phase Protein Arrays (RPPA) is a high-throughput technology used to profile levels of protein expression. Handling the large datasets generated by RPPA can be facilitated by appropriate software tools. Here, we describe RPPAware, a free and intuitive software suite that was developed specifically for analysis and visualization of RPPA data. RPPAware is a portable tool that requires no installation and was built using Java. Many modules of the tool invoke R to utilize the statistical features. To demonstrate the utility of RPPAware, data generated from screening brain regions of a mouse model of Down syndrome with 62 antibodies were used as a case study. The ease of use and efficiency of RPPAware can accelerate data analysis to facilitate biological discovery. RPPAware 1.0 is freely available under GNU General Public License from the project website at http://downsyndrome.ucdenver.edu/iddrc/rppaware/home.htm along with a full documentation of the tool.

Abstract Arabica coffee variety is one of the key parameters that highly influence the cup quality of arabica coffee. The objective of this current research is to evaluate the possible application of UV spectroscopy for the discrimination of arabica coffee with different cultivars. Green beans from two arabica coffee cultivars (Coffea arabica) of Typica and Sigarar Utang were collected from the same origin in Papandayan mountain West Java, Indonesia. The samples were subjected to the same postharvest treatments (wet cherry processing method). All samples were roasted in medium roasting with 200°C for 16 minutes using a portable roasting machine. A total of 40 samples of Typica and Sigarar Utang were provided by weighing 1 gram of coffee powder (mesh 40) for each sample. The extraction of coffee samples was performed based on previously reported work. The UV-visible spectral data of aqueous coffee samples were acquired by using a benchtop of UV-vis spectrometer in the range of 190-1100 nm. The first two PCs (principal components) with 94% of CEV (cumulative explained variance) could be used to separate between the Typica and Sigarar Utang samples. The Typica samples were situated on the left of PC1 (PC1<0) and Sigarar Utang samples were on the right of PC1 (PC1>0). In the future, it is promising to apply UV spectroscopy for simple and reliable discrimination of arabica coffee cultivar.

Smart cards are highly successful thanks to their unique combination of mobility and security. Based upon a single-chip microcontroller with volatile and non-volatile memories, a smart card implementes a small computer system that is very portable (credit card size), easy to use, and extremely resistant against external attacks. However, today's smart cards use proprietary protocols, application schemes, and development tools. This is due to the limitations of current technology, and it leads to situation of "splendid isolation" where smart cards are not being regarded as an integral part of the overall IT architecture. In this paper, we describe recent research towards "next generation" smart cards. It combines an advanced programming language (Java), novel hardware architectures that provide the required "MIPS budget" (RISC 32 bit), as well as an implementation of key Internet protocols (IP, HTTP) on smart cards. As a result, we show how smart cards can be seamlessly integrated within a distributed computing environment.

Older people (OP) have high risk for hypertension related with changing during older process in particularly system of cardiovascular. The purpose of this study is to identify prevalence of hypertension and related factors among OP in nursing home of Jember, East Java, Indonesia. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 42 of OP in nursing home. A self-administered questionnaire was used to identify characteristic of participants. Data of activity daily living, cognitive function, emotional status, depression status, and spiritual activity was measured using Katz Index of Independence in Activities of Daily Living (ADL), Short Portable Mental Status Questionnaire (SPMSQ), The Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE), Depression Anxiety Stress Scale 14 (DASS-14), and Daily Spiritual Experience Scale (DSES), respectively. Blood pressure was measured using a standard protocol employing a stethoscope and sphygmomanometer. A logistic regression analysis was used to determine factors related to hypertension among OP. Blood pressure of systolic and diastolic among OP were 131.90 ± 16.56 mmHg and 82.02 ± 10.18 mmHg, respectively. The prevalence of systolic and diastolic hypertension among OP in nursing home were 38.1% and 21.4%, respectively. The factors of systolic hypertension were age (p= 0.038), activity daily living (p= 0.043), depression status (p= 0.012), and spiritual activity (p= 0.015). Meanwhile, factors of diastolic hypertension were age (p= 0.041) and education (p= 0.049). Increasing age of OP related a risk factor of hypertension by supported by there are psychological problems like depression, although could be reduced by existence of spiritual activity of OP. Provision of health education on changes in the cardiovascular system and adaptation of lifestyle changes in the OP will be able to reduce hypertension factors in the OP.

Abstract Seismic vulnerability index is one of the key factors in mitigation that shows the vulnerability of the soil layer beneath when passed through with a wave, the more vulnerable the soil layer, the more damage it done when an earthquake happens. Seismic vulnerability is calculated using two variables, that is dominant frequencies and amplification that are obtained by analyzing HVSR curve. HVSR are used to determine the dominant frequency by determining the maximum amplification in that area. HVSR curve is obtained by measuring microbemor data in 163 spots with 30 minutes-minimum duration in Cilacap with a portable seismograph. Mierotremor is a natural vibration that is caused by continuous vibration that come from beneath the surface, sometimes mixed up by the vibrabon that is caused by human activities such as pipe-flow, vehicles, etc. Thus, the purposes of this research are to determine which area is more vulnerable than others, based on the seismic vulnerability index, so it could be a reference for regional development to classified is it safe or unsafe to build in that area, remembering Cilacap is one of the most developed Districts in Central Java.

This issue is more apparent when very large amount of data is involved in this emerging computing environment. Hadoop is an open source software framework that supports large data sets storage and processing in a distributed computing environment and well-known implementation of Map Reduce. Map Reduce is one common programming model to process and handle a large amount of data, specifically in big data analysis. Further, Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) is a distributed, scalable and portable file system that is written in java for Hadoop framework. However, the main problem is that the data at rest is not secure where intruders can steal or converts the data stored in this computing environment. Therefore, the AES encryption algorithm has been implemented in HDFS to ensure the security of data stored in HDFS. It is shown that the implementation of AES encryption algorithm is capable to secure data stored in HDFS to some extent.

AbstractThe accurate determination of the spatial trends on the variability of a species’ gene pool is essential to elucidate the underlying demographic-evolutionary events, thus helping to unravel the microevolutionary history of the population under study. Herein we present a new software called GenoCline, mainly addressed to detect genetic clines from allele, haplotype, and genome-wide data. This program package allows identifying the geographic orientation of clinal genetic variation through a system of iterative rotation of a virtual coordinate axis. Besides, GenoCline can perform complementary analyses to explore the potential origin of the genetic clines observed, including spatial autocorrelation, isolation by distance, centroid method, multidimensional scaling and Sammon projection. Among the advantages of this software is the ease in data entry and potential interconnection with other programs. Genetic and geographic data can be entered in spreadsheet table formatting (.xls), whereas genome-wide data can be imported in Eigensoft format. Genetic frequencies can also be exported in a format compatible with other programs dealing with population genetic and evolutionary biology analyses. All illustrations of results are saved in.svg format so that there will be high quality and easily editable vectorial graphs available for the researcher. Being implemented in Java, GenoCline is highly portable, thus working in different operating systems.

The complexity of designing concurrent and highly-evolving interactive systems has grown to a point where system verification has become a hurdle. Fortunately, formal verification methods have arrived at the right time. They detect errors, inconsistencies and incompleteness at early development stages of a system formally modeled using a formal specification language. -calculus (Milner, 1999) is one such formal language which provides strong mathematical base that can be used for verifying system specifications. But manually verifying the specifications of concurrent systems is a very tedious and error-prone work, especially if the specifications are large. Consequently, an automated verification tool would be essential for efficient system design and development. In addition, formal verification tools are vital ingredient to fully harness the potential of component-based software composition. The authors developed such an automated verification tool which is highly portable and seamlessly integrates with the visualization, reduction and performance evaluation tools introduced (Ahmad & Rahimi, 2008; Rahimi, 2006; Rahimi et al., 2001, 2008) to provide a comprehensive tool for designing and analyzing multi process/agent systems. Open-Bisimulation (Sangiorgi, 1996) concept is utilized as the theoretical base for the design and implementation of the tool which incorporates an expert system implemented in Java Expert System Shell (JESS) (Friedman-Hill, 2003).

BatScope is a free application for processing acoustic high-frequency recordings of bats. It can import data, including meta-data information, from recorders such as Batlogger. The resulting content can be filtered visually as spectrograms or according to data fields and can be displayed. Automated processing includes detecting and extracting of echolocation calls, filtering noise, and measuring statistical parameters. Calls are classified to species by statistically matching to a reference database. A weighted list of classifiers helps to assign the most likely species per call. Classifiers were trained on 19 636 echolocation calls of 27 European bat species. When classifiers all agree on a species (76.4% of all cases), the mean correct classification rate reaches 95.7%. A sequence’s summary statistic indicates the most likely species occurring therein. Classifications can be verified visually, by filtering, and by acoustic comparison with reference calls. Procedures are available for, e.g., excluding dubious cutouts from the statistics and for accepting or overriding the proposed species assignment. Acoustic recordings can be exported and exchanged with other users. Finally, the verified results can be exported to spreadsheets for further analyses and reporting. We currently reprogram BatScope using Java, PostgreSQL, and R to reach a unified and portable software architecture.

Background: While advanced motion analysis systems can provide accurate kinematic information, the majorities of motion analysis systems are stationary, expensive and time consuming. Image J is a Java-based image processing program that was originally developed at the National Institutes of Health and has rapidly gained widespread acceptance among rehabilitation specialists as a portable and affordable alternative motion analysis system. However, the validity and reliability of the Image J program have not been well established. Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the validity and test–retest reliability of the Image J kinematic analysis system. The Image J kinematic analysis system is designed to produce precise kinematic evidence during normal and pathological static and dynamic movement patterns. Methods: The Image J motion analysis system was concurrently compared with the electrogoniometer system as a reference standard measure by obtaining sagittal kinematic knee joint angle data. Results: Image J motion analysis system measurement revealed outstanding validity ([Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text]). The test–retest reliability for kinematic knee angle data showed remarkable consistency (Cronbach’s [Formula: see text]). Conclusions: This study provides the first evidence highlighting the Image J kinematic analysis system’s excellent validity and reliability for evaluating human kinematic movements in elderly people with hemiparetic stroke.

The Musculoskeletal disorder (MSDs) is skeletal muscle disorders that lead to damage in nerves, muscles, joints and cartilages. The damage is caused by muscle tension and degeneration. From the preliminary research in virgin coconut oil (VCO) processing industry, Central Java, Indonesia, there are potential risk of MSDs for workers. The majority of operators complaining on the right thigh (score 37) and left thigh (score 35). In addition, 50% of operators is work with moderate risk (rapid entire body assessment scores 4-7) and 50% others at a high risk level (rapid entire body assessment scores 8-10). Therefore, improvement is needed to prevent MSDs through work facility design using an integrated quality function deployment (QFD) method. In QFD, there is a concept screening phase to select some product design concept. To determine the priority, the QFD method can be integrated with analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method. The research shows that attributes of work facility needed by user are ergonomic, portable, durable and aesthetic. Concept design B have the highest priority score 0,32 and selected as the final work facility design. The technical specification are made from mahogany wood with an attractive design, red colour combination and developed based on user's anthropometry data.

This study was aimed at exploring vocational school students’ perceptions of their digital reading during the pandemic and their utilization of various digital media. The participants were eight students from three public vocational schools in Semarang, Central Java. This study adopted a qualitative descriptive method to explore vocational students’ perceptions of digital reading in times of COVID-19 pandemic. Data were gathered through an online semi-structured interview, in which the recording was transcribed and analyzed from the lens of multimodality. The study revealed that during the pandemic, vocational school students reported their difficulties in reading vocational materials in digital files, especially in the portable document format (pdf). The major influencing factors were the rigidity of learning materials in the pdf, the lack of peer interactions after digital reading, and the teachers’ pedagogical moves that might obstruct the development of digital reading skills. In contrast, this study reported that students utilized a plethora of digital media, websites, and applications, including Tiktok, Instagram, Wattpad, and Webtoon to read a wide variety of topics that capture their interests, from social, politics, economics, and romance. This study underlines the importance of enhancing student skills in digital reading in vocational subjects by utilizing various digital media.

Objectives: The present study aimed to determine the effect of diaphragmatic breathing exercises on the degree of breathlessness among patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) in West Java Province, Indonesia. Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest and no control group design. In total, 33 patients with COPD participated in this study using a consecutive sampling technique. The Modified Medical Research Council was used to measure the degree of breathlessness. A portable spirometer was used to assess Forced Expiratory Volume in one second (FEV1) and Forced Vital Capacity (FVC). Results: The Mean±SD age of the study subjects was 44.5±3.17 years; 54.4% of the study participants were male, with healthy a body mass index. Approximately 42.4% of the studied patients experienced the fourth degree of breathlessness before the intervention. There was a reduction in the Mean±SD score of breathlessness from 3.42±0.53 to 1.64±0.13 after the intervention (P=0.001). There were improvements in the breathing frequency (Mean±SD: 11.8±4.9 vs 9.5±1.6), oxygen saturation (93.39±3.20 vs 95.47±4.21), and FEV1/FVC (0.5±0.12 vs 0.3±0.45) in the study subjects. Discussion: It is expected for the hospital, educational institutions, nurses, and patients to be able to apply diaphragmatic breathing exercises as one form of nursing care measure. This is because it is proven effective to reduce the degree of breathlessness.

Properly selecting the configuration of a database management system (DBMS) is essential to increase performance and reduce costs. However, the task is astonishingly tricky due to a large number of tunable configuration parameters and their inter-dependencies. Also, the optimal configuration depends upon the workload to which the DBMS is exposed. To extract the full potential of a DBMS, we must also consider the entire IT stack on which the DBMS is running, comprising layers like the Java virtual machine, the operating system and the physical machine. Each layer offers a multitude of parameters that we should take into account. The available parameters vary as new software versions are released, making it impractical to rely on historical knowledge bases. We present a novel tuning approach for the DBMS configuration auto-tuning that quickly finds a well-performing configuration of an IT stack and adapts it to workload variations, without having to rely on a knowledge base. We evaluate the proposed approach using the Cassandra and MongoDB DBMSs, showing that it adjusts the suggested configuration to the observed workload and is portable across different IT applications. We try to minimise the memory consumption without increasing the response time, showing that the proposed approach reduces the response time and increases the memory requirements only under heavy-load conditions, reducing it again when the load decreases.

The COVID-19 pandemic has plagued the entire world, including Indonesia. The step to breaking the spread chain of COVID-19 is to apply health protocols such as handwashing and social distancing. The Covid-19 case in Klaten Regency Central Java for ten weeks until early February 2021 with the status of the Red Zone and death rate is 14.1 percent. Ngerangan Tourism Village has a thematic kampong with culinary and nature attractions, such as Pecel Kampong. The number of visitors reaches 600 tourists per day. This causes tourist sites to be clusters most prone to the spread of COVID-19 and must be equipped with adequate health protocols. Therefore, this service aims to implement health protocols during the Covid 19 pandemic through hand washing and social distancing. The service method has three stages, namely information, guidance, and habitual independence. The output of this service is in the form of technology that is socialized and donated in handwashing behavior in the form of 3 portable footstep sinks, four jerry cans of handwashing soap, one hand washing educational banner, and one banner for implementing health protocols. Meanwhile, the technology that was socialized and granted in the implementation of Social Distancing was in the form of 1 banner for implementing social distancing and 20 stickers indicating the implementation of social distancing.

Penelitian laju penyerapan CO2 pada kantong semar (Nepenthes gymnanphora Nees) dilakukan di Taman Nasional Gunung Halimun-Salak, Jawa Barat, pada bulan Juni 2011. Sebanyak 15 individu N. gymnamphora dipilih sebagai sampel pengukuran, setiap individu diukur daun muda dan daun tua. Laju penyerapan CO2 dan parameter fisiologi lainnya diukur dengan alat portable LCi ADC Bioscientific Ltd. Photosynthesis system, kandungan khlorofil daun dengan alat Chlorophyll meter tipe SPAD-502 merk Minolta, Intensitas cahaya dengan alat Lux meter, suhu dan kelembaban udara dengan alat hygrometer digital, pH dan kelembaban tanah dengan menggunakan soil tester. Hasil dapat dilaporkan bahwa laju penyerapan CO2 pada N. gymnamphora terendah 2,44 μmol/m2/s dan tertinggi 29,12 μmol/m2/s dengan rata-rata sebesar 11,07 μmol/m2/s pada radiasi cahaya di permukaan daun (Qleaf) rata-rata sebesar1074 μmol/m2/s. Dari hasil pengukuran harian diketahui bahwa laju penyerapan CO2 dari N. gymnamphora optimum terjadi pada jam 10:00 pagi dan terendah pada jam 14:00 siang. kata kunci: Laju penyerapan CO2, Nepenthes gymnamphora, Taman Nasional Gunung Halimun-Salak AbstractStudy of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the pitcher plant (Nepenthes gymnamphora Nees.) was conducted in the Halimun-Salak Mountain National Park, Resort Cidahu, West Java, on June 2011. Fifteen individuals N. gymnamphora selected as the sample measurements, each individual measured young leaves and old leaves. The rate of CO2 sequestration and other physiological parameters measured with a portable LCi ADC Bioscientific Ltd.,Photosynthesis System, leaf chlorophyll content with a Chlorophyll meter SPAD-502 type (Minolta), the light intensity with Digital Light Meter Der EE DE-3351, air temperature and humidity with a Digital Thermohygrometer AS ONE TH-321, soil pH and moisture with a Soil Tester. Results that, the CO2 sequestration rate of N. gymnamphora thelowest is 2.44 μmol/m2/s and highest is 29.12 μmol/m2/s with average 11.07 μmol/ m2/s at light radiation on the leaf surface (Qleaf) average 1074 μmol/m2/s. The daily of photosynthesis is known that the rate of photosynthesis of N. gymnamphora, optimum occurred at 10:00 am and lowest at 14:00 noon. key words: Photosynthesis rate, Nepenthes gymnamphora, Halimun-Salak Mountain National Park.

Despite efforts to develop and conserve water resources, almost every year during the dry season, some areas in Central Java province in Indonesia still experience a lack of water, especially in rural villages. These areas require water supply via water trucks and/or portable pumps to obtain water from rivers and groundwater. The Central Java government committed to implementing a program involving the construction of 1000 small reservoirs by 2020 to overcome water shortages. However, the technically ideal sites are mostly privately owned, which requires lengthy and costly land acquisition. To avoid the uncertainty of land acquisition, some small reservoirs were placed on state-owned land, which did not require land acquisition. The consideration of putting more emphasis on state-owned land rather than technically ideal sites for the construction of small reservoirs raise the issue on the location suitability of those reservoirs. In this study, we evaluated the suitability of the location of small reservoirs in the Bodri-Kuto river basin using the monthly standardized precipitation index (SPI). We used rainfall records of 25 stations in the river basin from 2000 to 2016 and analyzed yearly and monthly rainfall data. The yearly analysis shows that the dry conditions (SPI < −0.5) from 2005 to 2009 affected more than half of the rainfall stations (>50%), whereas the rainfall stations that experienced more dry years included Kedung Wungu, Babadan, Bojong, Ketapang, Sekopek, and Podowaras (more than 9 out of 17 years). The monthly SPI shows that during July, August, and September, all the rainfall stations experience moderately dry or worse conditions (SPI < −0.50). Using 25 rainfall stations, we determined the spatial spread of dry conditions using monthly SPI values from July, August, and September. Overlay of the spatial spread of dry conditions with the location of small reservoirs can be used to evaluate the suitability of small reservoir locations. We found that 1 (3%) location is very suitable, 7 (21%) locations are suitable, 24 (73%) locations are moderately suitable, and 1 (3%) location is less suitable. The findings indicate that the spatial distribution of SPI can be used as an additional criterion for evaluating the suitability of small reservoirs’ locations should technically ideal locations be unavailable.

Motivation Despite more than two decades of research, HIV resistance to drugs remains a serious obstacle in developing efficient AIDS treatments. Several computational methods have been developed to predict resistance level from the sequence of viral proteins such as reverse transcriptase (RT) or protease. These methods, while powerful and accurate, give very little insight into the molecular interactions that underly acquisition of drug resistance/hypersusceptibility. Here, we attempt at filling this gap by using our Monte Carlo feature selection and interdependency discovery method (MCFS-ID) to elucidate molecular interaction networks that characterize viral strains with altered drug resistance levels. Results We analyzed a number of HIV-1 RT sequences annotated with drug resistance level using the MCFS-ID method. This let us expound interdependency networks that characterize change of drug resistance to six selected RT inhibitors: Abacavir, Lamivudine, Stavudine, Zidovudine, Tenofovir and Nevirapine. The networks consider interdependencies at the level of physicochemical properties of mutating amino acids, eg,: polarity. We mapped each network on the 3D structure of RT in attempt to understand the molecular meaning of interacting pairs. The discovered interactions describe several known drug resistance mechanisms and, importantly, some previously unidentified ones. Our approach can be easily applied to a whole range of problems from the domain of protein engineering.
