Повний текст джерелаThe solutions for injection are usually packaged in glass flasks and sterilised by moist steam. Is the current tendency to substitute glass by the plastic because it reduce the obstruction of conditioning while increasing its shock-proofness and allows a board elimination of the wastes by incineration. Only some plastics meet both public health regulations and ecological requirements. Among them, low density polyethylene (LDPE) offers various advantages. It possesses virtually no additive, which limits the interaction hazards between plastic and chemical substances used in injection preparations. Its destruction does not bring chlorine-containing waste or other toxic matter into the atmosphere. Moreover, it is fully adapted to the various manufacturing technologies for large-scale production as the blow-fill-an-seal. However, the temperature value admitted for sterilisation is 121°C, whereas LDPE exhibits a melting point at about 117°C. Therfore, we have developped an alternative cycle of sterilisation based on F0 concept at a temperature lower than 121°C and such as it respected the LDPE containers integrity. The efficiency on the micro-organisms destruction have been calculated aid of stocks spores of Bacillus Stearothermophilus introduced into the recipients which contained water for injection as base solution. The sterilised products have been followed throughout this period. The information obtained by this work have the aim of documenting a manufacturing authorization file about products for injection for its recording with the benefit of a pharmaceutical industry of Amiens

Повний текст джерелаAs part of this thesis, we studied the container-content interaction between a high-density polyethylene-based packaging (HDPE) and amyl acetate considered as diffusing agent. We were specifically interested in the impact of sorption and diffusion phenomenon on mechanical properties of HDPE bottles under static and creep conditions at different stages of physical aging. Several uniaxialtests have been performed on samples cut from bottles and structural tests have been performed on bottles. The analysis of such various experimental results has highlighted in particular the Fickean nature of the diffusion phenomenon and the fall of the vertical compression strength. We have then focused onthe modeling of the mechanical behavior of HDPE taking into account the mass transfer induced by the diffusion phenomenon. Elasto-viscoplastic and creep models have been proposed and implemented in the finite elements code ABAQUS. The parameters of these models have been identified from simple tests by solving an optimization problem, and thus identified models have been validated by numerical simulation of vertical compression of HDPE bottles. Numerical results are in very good agreement with experimental measurements

Повний текст джерелаInnovation in wine packaging prompts industrials to offer more convenient and environment friendly packages. An eco-designed bottle, made of partially recycled polyethyleneterephthalate (PET) (containing a part of recycled) was specifically developed to package a Cinsault rosé wine. Wine is a product very sensitive to oxygen, and despite the good barrier properties of PET, storing wine for an extended period of time, may reduce its organoleptic qualities. To protect the wine, an oxygen scavenger was embedded in the PET. Alterations of aromatic profile of the wine can be related to oxygen ingress and loss of aroma compound caused by their transfers through the bottle. Furthermore, these transfers are potentially magnified by the presence of recycled PET and oxygen scavengers. To accurately understand those phenomena, the thesis presented here covers the following subjects:-The study of thermal structural properties and barrier properties to gas and volatile organic compounds (aroma and ethanol) of the involved materials-The study of oxidation of a sensitive aroma compound (methionol) and preservation using oxygen scavengers-The study of wine aromatic profile and aroma sorption through the bottle and the stopper evolutionduring 12 months of packaging in PET bottles and relationship with the barrier properties of materialsThis work shows that during storage of wine, numerous changes in aromatic profile take place and that oxidation and ageing reactions are favoured using PET bottle. However the use of PET allows the storage of rosé wine for a short duration (6 months). Recycling of PET slightly reduces the thermal properties and the aroma barrier properties. However, despite its structural differences, the quality of the wine is not deeply affect. The addition of a suitable amount of oxygen scavenger (3%) in PET bottles provides a longer duration of storage for wine (up to 12 months) with results equivalent to a glass bottle. Whatever the packages, the aroma transfer phenomena (sorption and permeation) only account for a negligible part of aroma compounds losses. Even if the presence of oxygen scavengers slightly alters the thermal and aroma barrier properties of the PET, not consequences are evidenced on aroma transfer during the storage of wine

They are the symbol of the consumer society, because they are considered a non-noble material: consumers equate it with a disposable product after use. Since plastics are not degradable, they represent a real danger to the environment, fauna and flora.The objective of this thesis work was to develop in collaboration with the Institute of Analytical Sciences and Physico-Chemistry for Environment and Materials (Pau University) new formulations with natural additives to produce resistant and recyclable plastics. Two types of resins were used: isotactic polypropylene (i-PP) and low density polyethylene (LDPE). Natural antioxidants such as ascorbic acid, alpha-tocopherol and flaxseed oil were tested and encapsulated to improve their resistance to degradation. Thermal and rheological characterizations of resins have shown superior qualities to current commercial resins. We were able to demonstrate that the plastics obtained could be recycled 9 times without losing their characteristics. Tests with trays made with the developed products are underway to validate the developed models

Повний текст джерелаNowadays, protecting products during transportation has become essential as import-export increased drastically. Therefore, the wrapping used to stabilize and protect pallets of goods is fundamental. The most commonly used material for wrapping films is linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE). However, ecology has become a major issue for the world. The eco-design of the film is desired for a lower mass of plastic on the pallet, while preserving the stability of the load. Therefore this thesis work concerns the optimization of load stability according to the properties of the wrapping materials and the mechanical stresses of transport in order to reduce the weight of plastic used. Manual and mechanical films were analyzed. The anisotropy of materials was studied. The characterization of the material was performed through mechanical tests (traction, relaxation, hysteresis and fatigue creep) and morphological tests with DSC, IR and XRD analysis. The characterization of the wrapping and the importance of its parameters were also investigated. The effect of wrapping speed, LLDPE fatigue and acceleration experienced during transport were found to affect significantly the film properties. Films morphology was found to be affected by the wrapping process, showing changes in crystallinity. The study showed the importance of wrapping parameters and transport constraints on the morphology of the stretch film on the pallet and therefore on the stability of the load

Повний текст джерелаOver the past ten years, the production and consumption of plastics have grown significantly around the world due to their uses in a wide range of applications including packaging, agriculture, automotive or construction. In 2017, 342 million tons of plastics were produced worldwide among them around 65 million tons in Europe. The valorization of plastic waste by mechanical recycling or incineration are widely used but do not constitute a long-term solution. Thermal as well as catalytic pyrolysis appears as an attractive alternative. The research carried out in this PhD work focused on pyrolysis of plastics used in packaging such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The thermal decomposition of virgin polymers and of a defined model mixture representative of plastic waste were studied by thermogravimetric analysis and flash pyrolysis. The quantity of each phases (gas, liquid, solid) were determined and the composition of the liquid phase analyzed. It was demonstrated that, within the model mixture, interaction between the polymers occurs leading to accelerate the decomposition process and to favor the formation of aromatic compounds. The use of zeolite (ZSM-5) as a catalyst for the pyrolysis of polyethylene, the most commonly used plastic in packaging, lead to a narrower distribution of pyrolysis products. The amount of catalyst was optimized and the effect of its acidity was studied. The most acidic ZSM-5 promotes the formation of aromatics and specifically products between C6 and C12 are obtained. The deactivation and regeneration of ZSM-5 respectively before and after pyrolysis was also investigated. The effectiveness of catalyst regeneration after several cycles of use was demonstrated. Finally, several catalysts with defined structure and acidities were synthesized. It was thus possible to conclude that both parameters play an important role in the composition and selectivity of the pyrolysis process

Повний текст джерелаThe work presented in this thesis has been created around an industrial development target: increase the internal pressure resistance of a metal food container with a peelable closure during sterilization processes. The critical part of the closure is the thermo-sealed zone of the aluminium membrane and the metal ring. The seal and peel medium is a thin layer (20 µm) of polypropylene and polyethylene. Improvements are proposed by geometrical changes in the sealing, membrane and closure. More fundamental research was done on the heterogeneity of the stress distributions in the sealed zone, adhesively bonded zone. For the elastic case, a qualitative homogeneity criterium for the shear stress distribution in the adhesively bonded zone was derived. Under the assumption of homogeneous stress distributions, global shear creep measurements at elevated temperatures on the sealed zone gave unsatisfactory results. Local deformation measurements at elevated temperatures were necessary but difficult because of the seal- width / thickness ratio of around hundred. The local deformation observations proved the heterogeneity of the deformation along the sealing. Two deformation mechanisms were observed. First, the shear deformation along the whole sealing, this deformation is likely to be heterogeneous. Second, a local deformation initiated by plastic deformation in the aluminium membrane. The second deformation mechanism has a local character and might create a failure in the sealing with a propagating character along the sealing. The heterogeneous or even local character of the observed deformations made quantitative analysis of the adhesive properties very difficult

Повний текст джерелаThe view of plastic food packaging turned from useful to a major source of contaminants in food and an environmental threat. Substituting glass by recycled or biosourced plastic containers reduces environmental impacts for bottled beverages. The thesis developed a 3D computational and optimization framework to accelerate the prototyping of eco-efficient packaging for alcoholic beverages. Shelf-life, food safety, mechanical constraints, and packaging wastes are considered into a single multicriteria optimization problem. New bottles are virtually generated within an iterative three steps process involving: i) a multiresolution [E]valuation of coupled mass transfer; ii) a [D]ecision step validating technical (shape, capacity, weight) and regulatory (shelf-life, migrations) constraints; iii) a global [Solving] step seeking acceptable Pareto solutions. The capacity to predict shelf-life of liquors in real conditions was tested successfully on ca. 500 hundred bottle min iatures in PET (polyethylene terephthalate) over several months. The entire approach has been designed to manage any coupled mass transfer (permeation, sorption, migration). Mutual sorption is considered via polynary Flory-Huggins formulation. A blob formulation of the free-volume theory of Vrentas and Duda was developed to predict the diffusion properties in glassy polymers of water and organic solutes in arbitrary polymers (polyesters, polyamides, polyvinyls, polyolefins). The validation set included 433 experimental diffusivities from literature and measured in this work. The contribution of polymer relaxation in glassy PET was analyzed in binary and ternary differential sorption using a cosorption microbalance from 25 to 50°C. Part of the framework will be released as an open-source project to encourage the integration of more factors affecting the shelf-life of beverages and food products (oxidation kinetics, aroma scalping)

Повний текст джерелаThe inertness’ value of plastics that are on contact with foodstuffs is governed by the European rule N°10/2011. In Lebanon, the lack of the Rules and Regulations of plastics’ usage led for a non-controlled packing in production as in storage, which will cause a sanitary risk to the consumer and to the population. The purpose of this research was to appreciate the migration’s phenomena of contaminants from the PET to the water. For this, there was an analysis of potential migrants such as VOC and SV to verify their tenor’s conformity relative to the MCL in international regulations. The aldehydes’ dosage in the water was performed by the derivation with the 2,4-DNPH, followed by a concentration on a C18 cartridge, then separation and quantification was done by HPLC-UV. The SV compounds’ analysis was realized by SPME-GC-FID method on a PDMS / DVB fiber. The BTEX and the styrene’s analysis was done by HS-trap-GC-FID method. These methods were validated in accordance with standard NF T 90-210 with a LQ less than the MCL. The volatile compounds in the bottled water and in the PET were analyzed by HS-trap-GC-MS method. The presence of FA, AA, DEP and BTEX in the bottled water with the PET was confirmed. It was highlighted that temperature and sun exposition influence the aldehydes’ migration. The acetaldehyde’s concentration after incubation at 40ºC wasn’t negligible and can modify the water’s organoleptic properties. The PET’s analyze reveals the presence of hydrocarbons, aldehydes, alcohols and ketones
