Повний текст джерелаIn recent years, sustainability has emerged as a critical concern. Many countries have started to address environmental and social problems through national policies and strategies, new partnerships, and promoting sustainable tourism practices across the tourism industry. These measures shall stimulate growth in the long term while maintaining a balance between environmental protection, promoting economic benefits, establishing social justice, maintaining cultural integrity, and shifting from mass tourism to long-term sustainable solutions. Community-based tourism (CBT) has been considered one of the efficient tools for sustainable tourism development, especially in rural areas, suburbs, and mountainous areas. Although there is much research on the benefits, success, or failure of CBT projects, not much attention has been paid to assessing the sustainability of CBT and examining its links to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to establish CBT as a tool to support sustainable development. This doctoral research addressed this gap by conducting a case study in rural areas of Hoi An.To advance the understanding of CBT and its role in the sustainable development of the local, the research adopted a mixed methodology, including quantitative and qualitative data collection methods; documentary methods were also employed. Research findings have, therefore, been enriched and verified by each other and have helped improve the reliability of the research overall. The service quality and the sustainability of CBT in Hoi An were revealed through the perceptions of tourists and the locals, respectively. The thesis then showed the link between CBT and SGDs to identify CBT as a tool to support sustainable development. The thesis adds distinctive theoretical and methodological contributions to the growing literature on CBT and its links to sustainable local development. The study achieves its objectives of (1) developing the CBT value chain model encompassing key stakeholders and their roles at a local scale, (2) conceptualizing CBT as a tool for sustainable local development, and (3) providing solutions need to be applied to develop sustainable CBT in Hoi An. The thesis will benefit local authorities and CBT practitioners by providing empirical evidence to base policies and strategies that facilitate desired development outcomes. With a strong focus on sustainability and a detailed understanding of local community perspectives, the thesis reinforces the recognition of CBT as a tool for sustainable development worldwide. This thesis encourages implementing and developing CBT in more communities, especially developing countries that aim for sustainable development

Повний текст джерелаThe success of the tourist enhancement of a heritage requires many factors; some of which concern such fields as culture together with tourism and are determined by the policies of these offices; and some other directly relate to the position of the heritage itself. The first axis analyses the prospects of the world tourism and of Vietnamese tourism. Our analysis shows that despite the risks and instabilities affecting the world tourism, it continues to flourish and that the Vietnamese tourism keeps growing positively. However, it faces a regional competition increasingly intense in terms of tourist infrastructure, human resources and quality/price ratio. The second focuses the strengths and weaknesses of tourism in Thua Thien Hue Province, the tourism demand forecast and the study of the general characteristics of tourists to this destination. Then, we look at the specific features of Hue traditional garden houses accompanied by the risks related to their conservation. As shown through our qualitative study, these houses constitute a unique cultural tourism product meeting the trend of tourist consumption today. In addition, our operational analysis finds that the current offer of accommodation will not be able to meet forecasted demand in 2010. Thus, tourist accommodation in these houses will respond quantitatively and qualitatively to this demand. The third identifies issues and strategies concerning the tourist improvement of these houses. As a result, we develop a management model permitting to get its tourist optimum. This model may be applicable to all tourism projects similar to ours in developing countries choosing the option of tourism as a vector for development

Particular emphasis was placed upon the extent to which the tourism development plans and the co-operative tourism development agreements address issues of nature-based tourism, eco-tourism and adventure travel – soft adventure tourism (“NEAT” tourism). Some effective processes that could facilitate the multi-destination tourism are proposed in order to harmonize the economic development in this region

Повний текст джерелаThe territorial resource, by reactivating the local identity, and constituting the local action object, can be considered as a social construct that participates in the reconstruction and the specification of the destination which adds value and contributes to memorable tourism experience. The aim of this thesis is to understand the role and the place that local distinctiveness and authenticity play in the tourist experience. This thesis presents the peculiarity of being at the crossroads of the geography of tourism, of comprehensive sociology and of the territorial economy. The use of the multidisciplinary approach favors a cross-examination of local distinctiveness and authenticity and their place in the process of constructing territorial identity with the participation of various tourism stakeholders. Tourism experiences will be considered from both sides: supply side and demand side.Concerning theoretical insights, this thesis has clarified the concept of local distinctiveness by analyzing its relationship with authenticity and local or territorial identity in the logic of territorial development in relation to tourism. In addition, this study provides a conceptual framework of the notion of the destination's overall tourism experience by comparing the supply and demand perspectives. A framework of territorial governance analysis around the construction of identity based on the local distinctiveness brings a perspective of valorization of the specific territorial resource in tourism.Methodologically, this thesis proposes a measurement scale in the form of an identification grid with standardized methods to identify, identify and evaluate potential typical characters of a destination in order to figure out the most unique and distinctive attributes, which adds to the growing literature devoted to destination attributes. The empirical application through an in-depth case study of Dalat city, a mountain resort in the Central Highlands of Vietnam, founded in the colonial era, by mobilizing different data sources, has shown the role and the place of local distinctiveness and authenticity in destination tourist experiences. The analysis of the different strategies of valorization of the local distinctiveness in the process of construction of identity through the preservation and the intensification of the physical elements, the diversification of the human activities (including tourism) and the construction of the destination image through different historical periods of the city provides empirical evidences for the proposed conceptual framework concerning the territorial governance
