This paper describes the Teungku Dayah political communication model in maintaining the harmony of Muslims in Aceh. Political turmoil in society often creates unrest, as it separates religious and political values. On the other hand politics is actually very instrumental in the development of Islam in Aceh. Teungku Dayah is the main actor and key figure in political development in Aceh. As a public figure, Teungku Dayah has a stake in the mass vote in the regional elections, the president and other political contests. This research is an analysis of the phenomenon of Teungku Dayah's political role in maintaining the harmony of the people. The technique of data collection used was direct observation, and the data were analyzed by describing the actions of Teungku Dayah's political role. The research concludes that Teungku Dayah has its own system and character in guarding Aceh's political development. He uses the Islamic boarding school and the dayah institutionas media for political communication. But the shift in values in instant politics makes Teungku Dayah's political communication power limited to front stage politics. Further research is necessary on political communication in Teungku Dayah, since political communication is a dynamic study, as dynamic as the conditions in Aceh.

The participation of ulamaa’ in politics was seen as a reference point for determining the vote acquisition that would be obtained by political parties. The recruitment of ulamaa’ before the general election is strong evidence that the role of ulamaa’ in politics was very important, not only in the religious sphere but in the social and political sphere of society. The participation of ulamaa’ gave rise to pro and contra views in the midst of society. The pro view saw ulamaa’ as being able to cleaned up the political atmosphere, while the counter view sees politics as limited to power and tarnishes the ulamaa's image. This study aimed to explained the involvement of ulamaa’ in the Aceh Party and the Aceh Sovereign Party in Aceh Barat Daya, the involvement of ulamaa’ is abled to influenced policies in local parties and saw people's views on the involvement of ulamaa’ in politics. The data required in writing this thesis is obtained through library and field research. Literature research was carried out by reading text books, statutory regulations, and other reading material related to this research, while field research was carried out by interviewing and observing. The results showed that the involvement of ulamaa’ in the Aceh Party and the Aceh Sovereign Party in Aceh Barat Daya was based on the recruitment of the Aceh Party and the Aceh Sovereign Party to the ulamaa’ because they provided many benefits to the party. The desire of the ulamaa’ themselves and getting support from the community was also a factor in the involvement of ulamaa’ in politics. This happened because the ulamaa’ would to changed the existing government system into a better system. The involvement of the ulamaa’ had a big influence on the party, namely being abled to changed policies in the Aceh Party and the Aceh Sovereign Party in Aceh Barat Daya so that it was able to increased the number of votes obtained by the Aceh Party and the Aceh Sovereign Party. Some of the people of Southwest Aceh view the involvement of ulamaa’ in the Aceh Party and the Aceh Sovereign Party as a natural thing, the involvement of the ulama was considered capable of providing a cleaner nuance in politics, while others think that when the ulamaa’ were involved in politics he would only gave priority to himself and abled to damaged his image as a cleric. Involvement of ulamaa’ in politics was expected to be more able to heard and conveyed the aspirations of the people, and to keeped the politics they lived in clean so that their image was maintained so that the public's view of ulamaa’ involvement remains good and supportive.

The article actualizes the problem of the parity of politics and economics, especially when, in modern conditions, countries and continents are experiencing global economic and epidemiological shocks. The author comes to the conclusion that in the future world the effectiveness of the state will be determined by: The perfection of relations between government, business and society; the degree of controllability of society; the speed and adequacy of the reaction of the political system to the demands and support for resolving key problems and countering the challenges and threats facing the state. The purpose of the study is to identify by means of political science analysis of positive experience in the formation and implementation of socio-political projects aimed at ensuring the optimal way to achieve the desired values and needs obtained at the exit from the political system. Achieved results: The causal relationships of politics and economics as fundamental components of life have been determined; a comprehensive political science study of the impact of digitalization on the processes of interaction and interdependence of politics and economics was carried out; revealed the specifics of the relationship between economics and politics.

This study examined organizational processes involved in a merger between two gender affiliated intercollegiate athletic departments. A conceptual framework incorporating the concepts of gendered social processes, and the transition and integration stages of organizational mergers framed the study. Organizational political activity is perceived as a gendered process in merging groups. Interviews with 57 stakeholders of a university athletic department were conducted. The data analysis showed that gender politics identified in the transition stage involved stakeholders’ emotional reactions. In the integration stage, gender politics were evident during the social processes of assessing trust and loyalties, and cultural reengineering. Practical implications for merger facilitation are noted in terms of considering the necessity of merging, the hiring of outside leadership, and implementing a communication plan. Overall, our study furthers our understanding of the gender politics involved in merging gender affiliated sport organizations.

This study aims to analyze the metamorphosis of Giring Nidji from Music Stage to Politics Stage. Political dynamics in Indonesia are an attraction for all groups and levels of society, including musicians. This research begins by looking at the phenomenon of artists who have entered the world of politics, in this case Giring Ganesha, the vocalist of the band Nidji. He decided to leave the world of music that had raised his name to advance in the 2019 Legislative Candidate Election. After 15 years of working in the music world with his band Nidji, Giring Ganesha finally decided to resign and chose to enter politics. This study used the Symbolic Interaction Theory of George Herbert Mead and Herbert Blumer. This type of research is qualitative with a constructivist paradigm using a case study research method. The data collection techniques used interviews and observations. Four informants were selected as the main data and Giring himself was the key informant in this study. The results of this study indicate that in the metamorphosis process of Giring Ganesha from a musician to a politician, he has gone through several long stages such as preparation stage, play stage, game stage, generalizing stage, and becoming a legislative candidate. Eventually, he has formed his current self-concept and thoughts as a politician.

ALL the world's a stage, as we know, and the concept of atheatrum mundiis a venerable one. So too is the specific idea of politics as theatre. As an idea it may not seem very remarkable. Politics lives off metaphor, after all, and theatrical metaphor might seem especially appropriate to describe political activity. Do we not refer naturally to the political stage, to politicians assuming roles, to dramatic political scenes? This very naturalness, derived from repeated usage, presents a challenge. For one of the tasks of the historian is to show how what has come to seem natural came to seem so: to restore the novelty of artefacts and institutions we take for granted, to recover the impact of ideas and metaphors worn smooth by repetition. I want to argue below that metaphors of politics as theatre can be more than just a figure of speech: that they had specific and revealing meanings in the period of German history from the revolutions of 1848 to the advent of National Socialism.

This paper engages with radical democratic theory in light of the so-called ‘return of the people’ taking place in contemporary political discourse. I argue that the return of the people should not be seen only as a return of politics strictly speaking, but also as a process by which elements of the social that had previously been excluded from politics enter the political sphere. Framing the problem in this way calls for a view to how politics is circumscribed, distinguished from the social but also, at various moments, broken open. At the same time, I call for paying increased attention to how the notion of the people takes shape beyond the political sphere, off the metaphorical political stage. By examining how the people is constructed in cultural and social movements, off the political stage, we can better understand the form taken by the people when it appears in politics.

In theatre and drama histories, the politics of the American stage has most often been judged by the litmus test of nationalism, primarily in the “rise” of American-authored drama set in America, the development of American character types, and the appearance of American-born actors on the stages of the early United States. To uncover in the old playbills the mention of a performance of Royall Tyler's The Contrast, to celebrate the development of the stage Yankee, or to focus on Edwin Forrest's muscular rant in The Gladiator is to score a palpable hit for national theatre. Given the scarcity of American texts before the War of 1812, this search for national needles in the (British) theatrical haystack is understandable. But the politics reflected in the theatre in early America is far more complex than traditional theatre histories have acknowledged. Fortunately, there are signs of a new historiography at work. Heather Nathans's recent history of the postrevolutionary playhouses (to 1800) in Boston, New York, and Philadelphia, for instance, uncovers a web of economic and social relationships among the shareholders in the various theatres, which shows that simple party definition hardly accounts for a clear sense of who supports the stage and who does not. Examined more closely than as buildings in which to launch “Jonathan,” American theatres reveal their own traditions for handling topical material, a particularly thorny problem for cultural spaces dominated by British plays and actors. In other words, beyond identifying stage Yankees or following Forrest, finding the political in the theatrical may require other strategies of reading in order to determine the full range of interaction between the political and theatrical spheres.

This activity aims to increase literacy through political education for novice voter students in using the internet wisely to participate in political life, thereby increasing knowledge about politics. The implementation of this activity was carried out in three stages: the first stage, namely the delivery of material through the lecture method; the second stage, namely training and modelling; and the third stage, namely post-training assistance by forming a politically intelligent community. Community service activities in outreach and training in political education in social media at SMA N 1 Airpura, Pesisir Selatan Regency, have been carried out well. The results of the activity were that this activity was attended by all elements of the school, namely SMA N 1 Airpura students, educators and teachers, school committees and other related elements. At the same time, the target audience for this service was 25 people who live in Airpura. Participants in this activity generally know about practical politics but need to learn how to be wise and intelligent in managing information about political issues on the internet, especially social media. Therefore, this group must continue to be accompanied so that political literacy among first-time voters and the younger generation can be realized in realizing political intelligence in Indonesia.

With intensified globalization, and more specifically European integration, the ground is shifting under established political institutions, practices, and concepts. The European Union (EU), however, is usually conceived in traditional ‘realist’ or ‘functionalist’ terms which obscure the possibility that distinctly new political forms arc emerging; or, alternatively, some self-styled ‘postmodernists’ speculate implausably about a ‘Europe of the regions’ replacing the ‘Europe of states’. In contrast, I argue for ‘new medieval’ and ‘postmodern’ conceptualizations of territoriality and sovereignty, which recognize that geographic space is becoming more complex and ‘relative’: Conventional political concepts based on ‘absolute’ space are increasingly problematic for understanding the political complexities of contemporary globalization. Here ‘postmodernity’ may mean something different from what some postmodernists think it means: not, for instance, a federalized ‘United States of Europe’ where regions and regionalism replace nations and nationalism, nor simply an intergovernmental arrangement of sovereign states, but something quite distinct—‘arrested federalization’ and an ‘intermediate’ arrangement distinct in its own right rather than ‘transitional’. In this paper I sketch transformations of sovereignty from ‘medieval to modern’, and from the ‘modern’ to the allegedly ‘postmodern’. I focus on the ‘unbundling’ of territorial sovereignty, which has reputedly gone furthest in the EU. However, even here the process is partial and selective, with globalization affecting different state activities unevenly. Contemporary configurations of political space are a complex mixture of new and old forms, the latter continuing to exist rather than being tidily removed to clear the ground for new politics. The EU itself is still territorial, and in many respects traditional conceptions of sovereignty remain dominant, whether exercised by the member states or by the EU as a whole. Moreover there are problems both with the elusive notion of postmodern, and with the historical analogies of new medievalism. Nevertheless, despite problems and qualifications, these concepts are useful for exploring the possibility of radical transformations, not just with respect to the ‘actors’ of global and local politics, but to the space–time of the ‘stage’ on which they operate.

The goal of this study is 1) describe the creativity of teachers in using online political news as a medium of learning on civic education subject at Class IX in SMP Negeri 31 Padang. 2) identify the obstacles of teachers in using online political news as a medium of learning on civic education at Class IX in SMP Negeri 31 Padang. This research uses qualitative approach with descriptive method. The result of the research shows that the first form of teacher's creativity in using online politics news as a learning media of civic education can be seen through five stages: planning stage, preparatory phase of teacher, class preparation stage, learning implementation using political news media, and evaluation stage. Both teachers' obstacles in using the political news media are caused by several factors including teachers still difficulty in formulating learning indicators, less supportive school facilities, poor internet access, too short learning time allocation, and some students are less fond of political news. The benefits of the news media politics on civic education subject can increase students' political knowledge, students can distinguish the political problems with other problems, and can know the current political problems. In addition, learning by using the political news media to make students more active in learning, students are more motivated to follow the learning of civic education subject.

Analyzing the achievements and results of the past period, we can see that cooperation between the Central Asian states is entering a new stage at a time when multilateral cooperation around the world is in crisis and mutual trust is declining. In a historically short period, unprecedented progress has been made in relations between Central Asian states. Most importantly, important and mutually beneficial agreements have been reached on the use of borders and water resources, which were previously an obstacle to the development of regional cooperation. At the initiative of our President, new mechanisms of cooperation have been established. Examples of this are the Consultative Meetings of Central Asian Heads of State, the establishment of inter-parliamentary groups, the Council for Cooperation in Border Regions, ministerial and interdepartmental commissions, and investment funds.

The article analyzes current trends of Hungarian politics that prevailed in 2020 against the background of the state’s fight against the pandemic. Among them are the old ones, presented by the conflict between liberal and conservative camps of politicians, and the new ones, which had become result of the changes in the lives of various segments of society, dictated by the global resistance to the pandemic. The author comes to the conclusion that new forces are emerging in the political amphitheater of the country, which have sufficient pressure, but are not yet as determined as the generation of the second half of the 1980’s to openly challenge the drawbacks of postsocialist political system that has developed over the past 30 years. Nevertheless, they have some potential to influence the national and regional political mainstream. This phenomenon is not ignored by the main conflicting parties, who are trying to find various forms of interaction with them in accordance with the existing opportunities within the current political alignment.

The strategic nature of political interactions has long captured the attention of political scientists. A traditional statistical approach to modeling strategic interactions involves multi-stage estimation, which improves parameter estimates associated with one stage by using the information from other stages. The application of such multi-stage approaches, however, imposes rather strict demands on data availability: data on the dependent variable must be available for each strategic actor at each stage of the interaction. Limited or no data make such approaches difficult or impossible to implement. Political science data, however, especially in the fields of international relations and comparative politics, are not always structured in a manner that is conducive to these approaches. For example, we observe and have plentiful data on the onset of civil wars, but not the preceding stages, in which opposition groups decide to rebel or governments decide to repress them. In this article, I derive an estimator that probabilistically estimates unobserved actor choices related to earlier stages of strategic interactions. I demonstrate the advantages of the estimator over traditional and split-population binary estimators both using Monte Carlo simulations and a substantive example of the strategic rebel–government interaction associated with civil wars.

Community service activities (PKM) in the form of political education for novice voters as the motor of the younger generation in increasing political participation and awareness at the University of Jambi are aimed at: 1) Increasing students' knowledge and understanding as the motor of the younger generation in increasing political participation and political awareness in the environment. Jambi University thereby increasing participation in politics; 2) There is an active participation from stakeholders, in providing political education for students as the motor of the younger generation in increasing political participation and political awareness within the Jambi University, both in the form of counseling and socialization as well as regular scheduled social gathering activities for political education for the community in the District. Alam Barajo; 3) Establishment of forums and facilities for public political education in the form of political socialization for students at Jambi University. PKM activities are carried out through lecture, discussion, and audio visual methods. The stages of implementing political education activities are carried out through the planning stage and the approach stage. Based on the results of the implementation of PKM activities in the form of political education for novice voters as a motor for the younger generation in increasing political participation and awareness at the University of Jambi, it can be concluded that this political education activity provides new enlightenment and knowledge for the millennial generation to participate and be aware of politics by increasing knowledge. and the understanding of students as the motor of the younger generation in increasing political participation and political awareness in the Jambi University environment so that it has an impact on increasing participation in politics.

The authors focus on the advantages of audiovisual media over print one: easier accessibility for consumers, a impact on their subconscious, much faster delivery of information messages to the public. These features of audiovisual media have led to their widespread use in politics, which has made political activity more effective. The main conclusions of this paper are that audiovisual media began to be used in politics shortly after their emergence. In accordance with the main stages of development of audiovisual media: cinema, television, the Internet — there was an improvement in technology for their use in politics. At the stage of cinema, anti-democratic (totalitarian) forces acquired a leading role in the use of audiovisual media, which began to use them as an effective means of political propaganda. At the stage of television, the primacy shifts to democracy, which was due to the pluralistic nature of democratic systems, in which the acquisition of power is due to free and competitive elections. At the stage of the Internet, when a large mass of ordinary citizens have the opportunity to publish their political views, opinions, projects in the electronic network, there are two mutually exclusive trends: autocratic regimes limit their citizens' access to the world information space, but at the same time try to destructive influence on the democratic world. The authors emphasize that this article is only their first attempt to outline the main directions of research on the impact of audiovisual media on the development of political activity. Due to the limited volume of this publication, some aspects of the problem were not reflected, which are planned to be covered in future publications.

Community Service Activity (PKM) in the form of political education for the community as a fulfillment of the constitutional rights of citizens in Alam Barajo District, Jambi City, aims to: 1) Increasing community knowledge and understanding in Alam Barajo District, Jambi City so that it has an impact on increasing public participation in politics and decision-making policies at the regional, sub-district and village levels; 2) There is an active participation from the Jambi City government, sub-district government, village government, political parties, the General Election Commission, and others in providing political education for the community in Alam Barajo District both in the form of counseling and socialization as well as regular scheduled social gathering activities for politic educators for the people in Alam Barajo District; 3) Establishment of forums and facilities for public political education in the form of social gathering for political education for the community in Alam Barajo District. PKM activities are carried out through lecture, discussion, and audio-visual methods. The stages of implementing political education activities are carried out through the planning stage and the approach stage. Based on the results of the implementation of PKM activities in the form of political education for the community as a fulfillment of the constitutional rights of citizens in Alam Barajo Subdistrict, Jambi City, it was appreciated by the community, seen from the level of attendance and participation in activity discussions, and it can be concluded that there was an increase in knowledge and understanding of the community in Alam Subdistrict. The article analyzes the phenomenon of archaization in world politics and identifies its algorithm in contemporary circumstances. It studies two main modes of archaization – dissociative (archaization as fragmentation and/or decay) and temporal (archaization as synchronization with past political practices and conditions). The paper makes a conclusion that it is impossible to use each of these logics separately due to limitations in their heuristic value. During the synthesis of dissociative and temporal modes, it emphasizes the complexity of the design of the archaization as a two-stage process – the temporal order desynchronization with subsequent disintegration trends and its synchronization with the patterns and practices of the past, broadcast through the institutional memory of polities. The work builds a model of desynchronization in world politics, which is tested on the case of the concept of Hungarian mafia state. This model can become a relevant explanatory framework for both state and societal actors of contemporary world politics.

Introduction. The article deals with issues related to the comprehensive phenomenon of modernity, the Internet. Attention is paid to new phenomena of its development, such as the emergence of digital services and platforms as well as the creation of digital ecosystems. Domestic and foreign approaches to the analysis of the ecosystem phenomenon are considered, and specific characteristics that are observed in the process of the formation of digital ecosystems in Russian politics are given. Materials and methods. The article presents the results of a survey of experts from 12 subjects of the Russian Federation, with a total sample of 134 respondents, aimed at determining the features of the formation and functioning of digital services in modern Russian politics. Experts assess the digital services of modern Russia and the potential of ecosystem development in politics. Analysis. Experts’ assessment of the existence of full-fledged ecosystems in politics at the moment in Russia is quite unambiguous. More than half of the experts note that at the moment there are no full-fledged ecosystems in politics, and only a small part of the experts note that they see certain elements of the manifestation of ecosystems in politics. At the same time, many experts note the effectiveness of the use of ecosystems in the commercial sphere, elements of which can be successfully used and integrated into ecosystems in politics. Results. The research conducted suggests that initially small digital services, as they developed, significantly transformed many traditional areas of activity. Moreover, they became the technologies that began to monopolize them, turning into global (both geographically and functionally) ecosystems. The Internet allows citizens and various political and civil institutions to simplify their own interactions through the use of modern advances in digital technologies. The creation of ecosystems is most effective when it is initiated by actors pursuing specific goals. In the case of ecosystems, there is a shortage of both subjectivity and goal-setting in politics. This significantly limits the incentives for the development of digital services. Authors’ contribution. We analyze the interrelationships between quarantine-related events and negative social affects during COVID-19 in South Korea. We explain the impact of these relationships on the political nature of quarantine. We conducted a discourse analysis of YouTube comments posted on COVID-19-related videos during 2020. We analyzed these affects and their social and cognitive triggers using cognition-emotion theory and affect theory. Contingent COVID-19 outbreaks in South Korea and ambiguous information contributed to fear and anger. Social disgust combined with anger as mass infection events occurred over time, influencing the attitudes of South Korean citizens who support the country’s social distancing policy. We find that social disgust realized through exclusion and purification is associated with the politics of quarantine. Consequently, we show that the political disgust surrounding quarantine was embedded within social disgust. This study paves the path for further research on the governmentality of affects and mobility in the context of epidemics.

We examine the politics of the strategic agenda. Abstracting a politics on the liberal-conservative dimension, we analyze Key Vote roll call data from the U.S. House of Representatives during the Eisenhower and Reagan administrations. The data suggest that politicians set the policy agenda in a strategic fashion. Because they consider such factors as long-term political goals, the changing institutional setting, and plebiscitary presidential politics, agenda-setters propose legislation that only imperfectly reflects their and the membership's wishes on the issue at hand. Thus, as the final stage in the political process, the strategic selection of an agenda provides a means by which factors other than policy preferences affect policy outcomes. The analyses affirm the strategic agenda as a core element in political life.

AbstractThe aim of this study is to analyze the different impacts of the determinants of free trade agreements (FTAs) based on the stage of the FTA discussions. By disaggregating the FTA formation process into four stages, this study finds that the influence of industry interest groups has a positive impact on FTA formation in the first stage, when two countries initiate the discussion by establishing a joint study. In contrast, it has a negative impact in the last stage, when signed FTAs need to be ratified in order to enter into force. Political institutions emphasized in the existing studies are likely to be significant in the initial stages, but lose their significance as the process moves forward. The findings of this study collectively support the hypothesis that a given FTA is the result of sectoral politics where interests and the power of industries have a significant influence on trade policy decision-making.

Political historians have recognized that politics and high society interacted in eighteenth-century England; and most would also recognize the presence of elite women in the social world of politicians. These assumptions have not, however, been subjected to much scrutiny. This article takes the social aspects of politics seriously and aims to provide an introduction to social politics – the management of people and social situations for political ends – and, specifically, to the involvement of women therein. Politics in eighteenth-century England was not just about parliament and politicians; it also had a social dimension. By expanding our understanding of politics to include social politics, we not only reintegrate women into the political world but we also reveal them to have been legitimate political actors, albeit on a non-parliamentary stage, where they played a vital part in creating and sustaining both a uniquely politicized society and the political elite itself. While specific historical circumstances combined in the eighteenth century to facilitate women's socio-political involvement, social politics is limited neither to women nor to the eighteenth century. It has wider implications for historians of all periods and calls into question the way that we conceptualize politics itself. The relationship between the obstinately nebulous arena of social politics and the traditional arena of high politics is ever-changing, but by trivializing the former we limit our ability to understand the latter.

Imamu Amiri Baraka is an artist, activist, and also an African-American leader who was born in Newark, New Jersey. Throughout his prolific career in American literature, he was able to generate some important political issues in defending the Black Power which was a perpetuating challenge for African-American intellectuals in the 1960s-1970s.This research is written under American Studies discipline, which takes politics to gain an African-American politics’ point of view, sociology to explore the theory of race and social conflict in the United States, and cultural studies to understand the struggle of African-Americans towards white Americans.The findings of this research show Baraka’s adeptness in his dual role as artist and politician through his political thoughts which has a never-ending development of his political consciousness. Baraka’s intellectual and political thought formation has moved through verydistinct stages and they are: Black Cultural Nationalism, Black Solidarity and Black Marxism. His final political stage has a broader consciousness that reveals capitalism in the Western world and this revelation of capitalism declared its theme of death and despair, moral and social corruption with its concomitant decrying Western values and ethics, the struggle against selfhatred, and a growing ethnic awareness.Keywords: Amiri Baraka, black power, political thought, African-American politics, andconflict

The article is devoted to the problem of the influence of the effects of digitalization on institutions and ideology of democracy in its various modern interpretations, as well as on the very evolution of the formats of participation of the masses in politics. Technological progress and the development of electronic communication systems lead to often unexpected, if not paradoxical, consequences in the relationship between elitism and mass politics. As a result, a new stage in the struggle for the management of public opinion and the main channels of communication is at the same time a consequence of technological changes and the evolution of the “mass” policy’s previously unregulated basic contradictions. The elitist approach is characterized by a priority course of maintaining control over the key digital platforms “for the common good” through agreements with the “digital oligarchy”, which minimizes destructive, from the point of view of the political mainstream, attempts by counter-systemic forces to change the status quo in dominant ideologies, values and power relations. For the extension adepts of mass politics, the new technical possibilities just give a hypothetical chance to correct the status quo, and in this sense, the “progressive” agenda opens the way for the conservative, and for outsider, in relation to the political mainstream, political and intellectual groups.

The author’s idea of revising the dictionary of modern Russian political science is a reaction to the mismatch of international and domestic discursive practices. The article deals with a critical attitude to “political culture”. This concept was introduced into circulation by scientists at that moment when political theory was in the stage of formation. The problem is that a concept designed to reflect the objective nature of politics is unambiguously related to the nature of culture. Meanwhile, culture and politics are the universal forms of human activity, each of which has its own specificity. Accordingly, the areas of social science also differ. To determine the specifics of political knowledge, the author suggests answering simple questions. What exactly does a political scientist measure: culture by politics or politics by culture; a political element in culture or the cultural (conscious, value, semantic) content of politics? Since the answers reflecting the subject priority of politics for a specialist in this field of knowledge are obvious, it is proposed to use the concepts of “culture of politics”, “cultural dimension of politics” and “cultural-political” instead of the concept of “political culture”. These expressions neutralize the formalism of the problem of “primary” and “secondary” in relations between culture and politics, politics and culture. From the perspective of the practical realities of Russian politics, the article examines such topical cultural and political aspects of modernity as the crisis of culture, the image of the future, the problem of distinguishing between transcendental and immanent political ideals. According to the author, a common theme for the modern domestic culture of politics should be an orientation towards a citizen as an immanent goal of the development of Russian statehood.

AbstractAlthough local government is a rich, important arena for understanding politics, local politics presents a few challenges for understanding and participating in it. To better explore comparative urban politics, we turn to reddit, a social media, news, and discussion platform. We ask if city subreddits are places of discussion of local politics and what can we learn about the salience of local topics, and about local politics, from the content of these subreddits. Using visualization and text analysis, we find that city subreddits are indeed forums for political discussion, finding that approximately a quarter of the topics on city subreddits are political in nature. We observe that people discuss matters including, but not limited to, taxation, policing and crime, homelessness, and education. We conclude with areas for future study, including, most prominently, the rise of nationalized local politics, such as minimum wage increases and body cameras, increasingly discussed and organized on the national stage.

The article is devoted to the early stage of the formation of the concept of historical politics as a special sphere of public administration in Poland (2004–2007). The prerequisites for its appearance, its background, the logic of its main ideologists are considered. The author analyzes the typology of this phenomenon presented in the Polish academic literature. It is pointed out that its main features are derived from the ideological originality and politic identity of the “Law and Justice” party. It was the notion of their political predecessors and their place in Polish history, which was strengthened in this movement, that determined the main accents of the historical policy of the Polish governments in 2005–2007. Attention in the article is also paid to the criticism of this policy by the main opponents. The Polish historical politics is also analyzed at the regional level as a natural reaction of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe both to the previous system and to the new neoliberal values coming from the West. The spread of a certain political fashion for the politics of memory is seen as part of the conservative trend in the politics of the countries within the region. At the same time, the author points out a number of specific partizan features of the historical policy of “Law and Justice”, which impede the implementation of its main goal — the consolidation of the nation — and turn it into a means of internal political struggle.
