[Abstract]: The disposal of animal waste has become a problem in many parts of the world due to the rapid growth in the number and the size of intensive animal industries. Safe waste disposal sites are rarely available and the relocation and/or treatment of animal waste is seldom economically viable. The reuse of animal waste for energy recovery and re-feeding is also not popular. Animal waste is a valuable source of plant nutrients and a very good soil conditioner, and has been commonly applied as fertiliser to agricultural fields. However, due to the increasing oversupply of animal waste in recent years, it has often been applied in excess to the agricultural fields. Excessive application of animal waste, without due consideration of its implications, is a serious concern. The run-off and leaching losses of nutrients from the fields fertilised with animal waste have contributed significantly to the eutrophication and toxic blue-green algae blooms in surface water systems and nitrification of ground water systems. It has also led to nutrient imbalances in the soils and odour pollution to the surrounding communities. The animal waste, which is a valuable source of plant nutrients, has thus become both an economic and environmental burden, and there is a need to develop a strategy for its sensible use as a fertiliser in agricultural fields. Sensible use of animal waste involves the consideration of all the agricultural, environmental, social, and economical limitations. A rational method of achieving this is to restrict the use of animal waste to sites suitable for such uses, identify areas where it can be relocated and applied economically, limit the application rates to a safe level, and observe appropriate manure management practices. This study addressed each of these components by developing a comprehensive manure application plan (MAP) for the site-specific use of animal waste as fertiliser in agricultural fields. Various geographic information systems (GIS) based techniques, including a weighted linear combination model and map algebra based cartographic modelling, were employed to achieve the goal. The appropriateness of the existing techniques and procedures were evaluated and modified to meet the current input requirements. New methods of analysis were devised as necessary. The Westbrook sub-catchment of the Condamine River catchment in south-east Queensland was selected as the study area. The sub-catchment covers 24,903 hectares and contains 39 intensive animal industries. The catchment is also a part of the Murray-Darling Basin, which has been suffering from toxic blue green algae blooms recurrently since 1991. This study identified that only about one-fifth of the sub-catchment area is suitable for animal waste application. Depending on the method of site suitability analysis and the number of input factors used the suitable area ranged between 16 and 22 percent. This comparatively small area is mainly due to the presence of a large proportion of non-agricultural areas in the sub-catchment. The suitable areas were also found to have various degrees of suitability for waste application. However, the degree of site suitability was affected by the number of input factors used in the analysis, the weighting of the factors, and the method of factor attribute standardisation. Conventional methods of weighting input factors were found to be cumbersome and not particularly suitable. Hence, this study developed a new ‘objective oriented comparison’ method of factor weighting. Standardisation of input factors using a continuous, rather than discrete, classification (ie fuzzy set) method was found to be more consistent in degree of suitability determination. The discrete classification of factor attributes into classes of different numbers and sizes, and the weighting of classes to a sum of one, were identified as a limitation in using this standardisation method. A new ‘weight adjustment’ method was devised and demonstrated to reduce factor-weighting biases. The suitable sites, degree of site suitability, and other relevant spatial and non-spatial information were processed within a GIS framework to develop a comprehensive manure application plan. The inherently high presence of available phosphorus in the soils of the study area was recognised and the P2O5 content in the manure was used as the basis for determining manure application rates. A complimentary nitrogen supply map was also generated. Manure management practices applicable to the areas with a lower degree of suitability were also suggested.

This quantitative research study investigated the impact of organisational context on the process and success of strategic IS planning (SISP) in post-implementation information systems in Libyan organisations. A set of direct and indirect relationships were investigated in the research model. The organisational context presented as a contingent situational variable mediated by SISP process and predicted by SISP success (the criterion variable). The causality of the relationship set was developed from the contingency theory of information systems and supported by fit models in strategic management research. The study deployed multivariate analysis represented in the structural equation modelling (SEM) to develop robust construct measurements and analyse data collected from executives responsible for information systems planning in both public and private Libyan organisations. Multi-dimensional multi-items constructs were used in the path analysis model after they were extensively validated. The path analysis model represented as mediation model, where hypothesise suggest that SISP context has an impact SISP success, through the influence of the SISP process. In the model, four dimensions of the SISP context construct were found to have a significant impact on SISP success directly and indirectly through the SISP process. Two of these dimensions are components of the leadership orientation construct, namely “Creative and Controlling” leadership. The other two dimensions are “Organisation centralisation structure and the Riskiness of organisation strategies”. The environmental uncertainty and planning resource constructs were found to have no impact on SISP success in Libyan organisations. Furthermore, this study validated six out of seven dimensions of SISP process construct measurement; only five exhibited acceptable fit level in the path analysis model and all were affected by the SISP context. However, just three out of five SISP process constructs had an impact on SISP success namely “Comprehensiveness, Focus and Intuition planning process”. Different SISP processes were associated with different levels of SISP success, “Intuition” was the most effective SISP process approach. The second most effective SISP process approach was the “Focus on innovation”, followed by “Limited comprehensiveness”. The SISP success measured by the fulfilment of key objectives that has three measurements constructs namely “Analysis, Alignment, and Cooperation”. The research suggest that under the effect of organisation context the most successful SISP produced by (CIO, CEO, or top executives) who rely less on personal judgment, focus more on innovation rather than control and limit their comprehensiveness of information systems planning process.

PLEXPLAN, an automated software system and methodology for Information Systems (IS) planning, is described. The PLEXPLAN methodology and tools are used to integrate information from multiple and dynamic perspectives on the organization. A conceptual and technical software architecture is described which permits storage, integration and manipulation of such information. The PLEXPLAN methodology is consistent with the PLEXPLAN software architecture inasmuch as specific techniques in the methodology are represented in the automated environment as tools. A case is presented where PLEXPLAN was used to address an Information Systems planning task. Use of the PLEXPLAN methodology and tools is specifically described as they relate to the case.

Businesses are faced with an ever-changing environment of technology, one of these recurring changes is in the field of Enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Technologies such as business intelligence (BI), machine learning (ML) and internet of things (IoT), which are driving forces in shaping the next generation of ERP systems. These improved ERP systems can better support a company compared to a traditional ERP system. This thesis has examined what constitutes an intelligent-ERP and what possibilities it presents from a business perspective. To answer this question, a qualitative study approach was chosen by conducting interviews with professionals within the BI and ERP systems field. The interviews were structured in a loose fashioned way, aiming for a holistic perspective of the I-ERP systems phenomenon. This bachelor thesis transpired to show that I-ERP systems do improve business performance for companies that exhibit the needs. However, there occurred differences in the perception of the definition of how I-ERP systems should be defined between the participants and the literature.

The enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementation success rate is as low as 30%. Researchers have shown that ERP system implementation could cause both system and organization failures, affecting operations and stakeholders, alike. The technology-organization-environment conceptual framework was used to ground this qualitative single-case study. The purpose of the study was to explore strategies that a manufacturing firm in Ghana used to implement ERP systems successfully. The population of this case study comprised 5 stakeholders from a manufacturing firm in Ghana who had success in implementing an ERP system. Data were collected using face-to-face semistructured interviews and review of various corporate documents. Data analysis consisted of reviewing interview transcripts, compiling and organizing the data using an open-coding system, grouping the data into themes, and interpreting the meaning of the themes and data. Triangulation was used to strengthen the validity of the case study design. The primary themes that emerged from data analysis included critical strategies that organizational leaders can use to implement ERP systems successfully in Ghana-based manufacturing firms. Significant findings were that leaders who engage in ERP implementation should focus on managing human and technological infrastructure resources, seeking the support of top management, and designing and executing comprehensive change management plans. Implications for positive social change include the potential to increase funding for local schools, after-school youth programs, and philanthropic donations based on increased organizational profits generated from successful ERP leader implementation strategies.

The purpose of this research work is to demonstrate the feasibility of creating a quick response decision platform for middle management in industry. It utilises the strengths of current, but more importantly creates a leap forward in the theory and practice of Supervisory and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and Discrete Event Simulation and Modelling (DESM). The proposed research platform uses real-time data and creates an automatic platform for real-time and predictive system analysis, giving current and ahead of time information on the performance of the system in an efficient manner. Data acquisition as the backend connection of data integration system to the shop floor faces both hardware and software challenges for coping with large scale real-time data collection. Limited scope of SCADA systems does not make them suitable candidates for this. Cost effectiveness, complexity, and efficiency-orientation of proprietary solutions leave space for more challenge. A Flexible Data Input Layer Architecture (FDILA) is proposed to address generic data integration platform so a multitude of data sources can be connected to the data processing unit. The efficiency of the proposed integration architecture lies in decentralising and distributing services between different layers. A novel Sensitivity Analysis (SA) method called EvenTracker is proposed as an effective tool to measure the importance and priority of inputs to the system. The EvenTracker method is introduced to deal with the complexity systems in real-time. The approach takes advantage of event-based definition of data involved in process flow. The underpinning logic behind EvenTracker SA method is capturing the cause-effect relationships between triggers (input variables) and events (output variables) at a specified period of time determined by an expert. The approach does not require estimating data distribution of any kind. Neither the performance model requires execution beyond the real-time. The proposed EvenTracker sensitivity analysis method has the lowest computational complexity compared with other popular sensitivity analysis methods. For proof of concept, a three tier data integration system was designed and developed by using National Instruments’ LabVIEW programming language, Rockwell Automation’s Arena simulation and modelling software, and OPC data communication software. A laboratory-based conveyor system with 29 sensors was installed to simulate a typical shop floor production line. In addition, EvenTracker SA method has been implemented on the data extracted from 28 sensors of one manufacturing line in a real factory. The experiment has resulted 14% of the input variables to be unimportant for evaluation of model outputs. The method proved a time efficiency gain of 52% on the analysis of filtered system when unimportant input variables were not sampled anymore. The EvenTracker SA method compared to Entropy-based SA technique, as the only other method that can be used for real-time purposes, is quicker, more accurate and less computationally burdensome. Additionally, theoretic estimation of computational complexity of SA methods based on both structural complexity and energy-time analysis resulted in favour of the efficiency of the proposed EvenTracker SA method. Both laboratory and factory-based experiments demonstrated flexibility and efficiency of the proposed solution.

In times of demand shocks, when quantitative forecasting based on historical time series becomes obsolete, the only information about future demand is "advance demand information", i.e. interpreting early customer bookings as an indicator of not yet known demand. This paper deals with a forecasting method which selects the optimal forecasting model type and the level of integration of advance demand information, depending on the patterns of the particular time series. This constitutes the applicability of the procedure within an industrial application where a large number of time series is automatically forecasted in a flexible and data-driven way. The architecture of such a planning system is explained and using real-world data from a make-to-order industry it is shown that the system is flexible enough to cover different demand patterns and is well-suited to forecast demand shocks. The traditional methods for the documentation of archaeological heritage sites are challenged today by developments in geomatics, information technology and the computer industry. Non-contact spatial measurement methods, as well as new spatial information systems technologies and computer visualisation tools have introduced a new age for conservation and site research. This thesis uses the instance of the documentation of the 3.6 million-year-old hominid footprint trackway in Laetoli, Tanzania, to address the need for an adequate scientific method to acquire, manage and visualise spatial data for the re-creation of archaeological heritage sites in a three-dimensional virtual world. The Laetoli site presents the first physical evidence of human bipedalism. Its consequent significance to human evolutionary science justifies the need for highly detailed and accurate documentation of its characteristics. The thesis explores digital photogrammetric techniques as data acquisition tools for this kind of close range archaeological environment. Specifically, it examines issues such as non-contact measurements, cost-effectiveness, and functionality in harsh conditions.The data collected at Laetoli had to be organised, managed and presented to allow future research on the footprints and to allow the general public to "visit" the site. This thesis shows how a spatial information system is used to manage spatial and meta data, while an integrated visualisation tool offers a virtual 3D reconstruction ofthe heritage site.

Motion planning for autonomous heavy vehicles has been an intensively studied topic during the last years. In particular, real-world applicable motion planning schemes for truck-trailer systems have emerged and several continuous-curvature local planners for nonholonomic vehicles have been conceived. In this thesis, it has been studied whether it is possible to combine these results in nonholonomic motion planning to improve the efficiency of the current planning methods when planning paths for parking single-trailer truck-trailer systems in spatially constrained environments. As a part of this undertaking, a local planner for single-trailer truck-trailer systems has been developed and a comparison of the performance of different distance functions used within an RRT-planner has been made. The resulting planner was evaluated in environments with narrow passages and tight parking spaces present and the results show that the performance of the current state-of-the-art RRT-based planning methods for articulated systems can be improved in cramped environments by adding an exact local planner. Furthermore, it was discovered that heuristic lookup tables are superior to other distance functions when used within the nearest neighbor search of an RRT-based motion planning algorithm for truck-trailer systems.
Banplanering för autonoma lastbilar har varit ett ämne som studerats intensivt under de senaste åren. Mer specifikt har banplaneringslösningar för lastbil-släpvagnssystem utvecklats och ett flertal lokala planerare som producerar banor med kontinuerlig krökning har tagits fram. I det här examensarbetet har det undersökts om det är möjligt att kombinera dessa resultat inom icke-holonom banplanering för att förbättra prestandan hos de existerande banplaneringsmetoderna när en parkeringsmanöver för en lastbil med släpvagn ska planeras i ett trångt parkeringsutrymme. Som en del av arbetet med att undersöka detta togs en lokal planerare för enaxliga släpvagnssystem fram och det genomfördes även en undersökning av hur RRT-planerarens prestanda påverkas av vilken distansfunktion som valts. Den resulterande banplaneraren har testats på planeringsproblem innehållandes smala passager samt trånga parkeringsplatser och resultaten visar att prestandan hos de bästa inom litteraturen kända RRT-planeringsalgoritmerna för fordon med släpvagnar kan förbättras i trånga miljöer genom tillägg av en exakt lokal planerare. Dessutom framkom det att uppslagstabellsbaserade avståndsfunktioner leder till bättre prestanda än andra avståndsfunktioner när dessa används inom en RRT-planerares närmaste-granne-sökning.

The fluctuations in the demand for construction work have often resulted in skills shortages. This has led to the need for effective construction labour market planning strategies, which enable the construction industry to meet its skills requirements, particularly in periods of peak demand. Existing approaches to construction labour market planning have several limitations. They do not shed light on the socio-economic and spatially influenced issues within which the industry's skills shortages are rooted. There is, therefore, a need for more appropriate decision-support mechanisms that can take account of spatial problems in terms of skills demand and supply influences. Through industry involvement, this research has explored how GIS can enhance the labour market planning process in construction. The research briefly reviews the nature of labour market planning in construction, introduces geographic information systems, and highlights the opportunities they offer for overcoming the limitations of existing approaches. The implementation of the GIS-based system and its application to a specific labour market planning initiative is then presented. The evaluation of the system by prospective end-users reveals the enablers, barriers and benefits of the system implementation. Organisational issues that had a bearing on the implementation are also examined and recommendations made for further research.

This thesis outlines the basic problems relating to estimating, targetting and planning functions in small building firms and a possible solution. It was found that information for these functions was rarely integrated and was derived from different sources. It was therefore suspect in terms of accuracy. Four case studies were undertaken and the firms were investigated and analysed in terms of their logical and physical organisation and management systems. Their basic problems were the lack of control of costs, slow feedback of information, low labour productivity and a shortage of staff to carry out the administration work. A general model was derived from the four case studies and this was used to specify the problems in terms of detailed activities and data used. The general model was analysed to derive a prototype system which co-ordinated the data in the different functions by using production oriented, operations, each with a standard performance output. Database management techniques were then used to structure the data effectively so that the prototype system could be implemented using a standard database package on a micro computer. A standard database file of operations was built up for alterations, refurbishment and repair work. A number of estimates were generated and compared to identical ones prepared by hand. All related planning and targetting information was then prepared. It was found that taking off of estimates took a little longer but once completed much relevant planning and targetting information could be generated and feedback obtained. This was all directly related to the estimate due to the integration of the functions. The management information generated allowed better control of costs and outputs with little administrative effort.

There is increasing pressure to integrate the economics of timber sale and logging planning with environmental considerations and strategic sustainability. Some forestry organisations are hoping to replace pre-harvesting inventory with a database designed for periodical inventory and long-term timber production planning to facilitate continuous (rolling) planning. The aim of this study is to analyse the possibilities of integrating different forest planning levels with each other and a Geographical Information System (GIS), and replacing the pre-harvesting inventory with a GIS. An integrated GIS and planning system is implemented. Firstly, the production system is analysed to define the system requirements in detail. Then the data model and processes together with system architecture are designed. A new concept of treatment stand is adopted for modelling site-specific restrictions into the calculation units of a Finnish forest simulator, MELA. Thereafter corresponding databases are defined and implemented. System interfaces are developed to provide data flow between subsystems. Additional modules for economic analyses are developed to sit on top of the linear programming (LP) package. A case study is undertaken to test the functionality of the integrated planning system. In the case study, forest inventory data and GIS-analyses are used for modelling both site-specific restrictions and harvesting conditions. New LP-formulations are defined and implemented using a Finnish LP-package, JLP. The 'production possibility frontiers' (extremes of possible production) are used to estimate the value of GIS in taking into account the effects of site-specific constraints. The results from a combinatorial model are compared with the results of a standard model to measure the benefits of GIS in timber sale and logging planning.

This thesis attempts to show the contribution of Geographic Information System to urban planning process in Turkey. GIS can enhance the planning system by providing an access to accurate, reliable and update geographical information, producing alternatives according to the scenario and ensuring participation in the evaluation of the alternatives. This is the high level contribution of GIS for the enhancement of planning. The contribution can occur
if certain conditions are sustained such as establishment of geographical data provision system among public institutions. Obviously, these are connected with available technical and social infrastructure. Although, there is not a digital infrastructure system among the public institutions, several general directorates have started to provide some geographical information in their works. These efforts should be increased in quality and quantity. From the planning point of view, we argue that these are not even at satisfying level to work with the GIS in the plan-making processes. To prove our argument, the use of GIS and technology in the Bank of Provinces and private planning offices are inquired. The results of the thesis study show that the Bank of Provinces is in the transition period for the use of GIS. Private planning offices are in the initial stage and some of them seem unable to adopt themselves if the plan-making process becomes digital, because of the extra costs for them. Therefore, geographical data provision policies among public planning institutions will determine the future development of GIS in the planning process.

The growth of the international movement to involve the public in urban planning urges us to find new ways to achieve this. Recent studies have identified information communication technologies (ICT) as a mechanism to support such movement. It has been postulated that integrating geographic information system (GIS), virtual reality (VR) and Internet technologies will facilitate greater participation in planning activity and therefore strengthen and democratise the process. This is a growing area of research. There is, however, concern that a lack of a theoretical basis for these studies might undermine their success and hamper the widespread adoption of GIS-VR combination (GVIS). This thesis presents a theoretical framework based on the Learning System Theory (LST). ICT technologies are then assessed according to the framework. In the light of the assessmenta, prototype has been designed and developed based on a local urban regeneration project in Salford, UK. The prototype is then evaluated through two phases, namely formative evaluation and summative evaluation, to test the feasibility of the framework. The formative evaluation was focused on evaluating the functionality of the prototype system. In this case, evaluators were experts in IT or urban planning. The summative evaluation focused on testing the value of the prototype for different stakeholder groups of the urban regeneration project from local residents to planning officers. The findings from this research indicated that better visualization could help people in understanding planning issues and communicate their visions to others. The interactivity functions could further support interaction among users and the analysis of information. Moreover, the results indicated that the learning system theory could be used as a framework in looking at how GVIS could be developed in order to support public participation in urban planning.

Current usage of construction information systems is largely confined to Critical Path Method scheduling, accounting systems, and cost control database systems. The function of activity planning is not directly addressed by any of these systems while information from all three systems is required for activity planning. Activity planning is the iterative process of selecting construction elements from the project work breakdown structure, addressing the available details from the plans and specifications, assembling existing experiential information on methods, productivities, and production rates, brainstorming for new and or appropriate existing methods, and deciding on a course of action for each item in the breakdown structure. The focus is on a construction activity planning framework to be utilized by superintendent level personnel. This thesis examines the literature and existing software to identify the technologies that are relevant to detailed activity planning. The concept of utilizing "Planning Models" to address activity planning for repetitious concrete construction is introduced. The "General Activity Planning Model" provides the functions and instructions required for detailed project and activity planning of a generic concrete construction project. "Specific Planning Models" ensue from the general model and two examples are provided to illustrate the process. The first example is of a post-tensioned concrete bridge project. The second is of a cut and cover subway tunnel project. From the two examples, the key planning system attributes of function and flexibility are demonstrated. The functions required include: 1. Project level work breakdown structure and initialization. 2. A two pass system for estimating and planning. 3. Early calculation of target activity durations from milestone constraints. 4. Activity level, continuous crew scheduling, where appropriate, prior to detail design of methods. 5. Operation level input: major resource (formwork quantity) requirements, decision variables, crew size variation to implement duration control, and equipment levelling. The flexibility of the General Planning Model is illustrated by the successful planning of two dissimilar prototype projects from one general model. Specific issues pertaining to each project are structured and solved by example. Computer system issues are discussed. A database system is identified as the software of choice for the construction planning problem. Several commercially available programs are evaluated. Integration of activity planning with other construction specialities is identified in flow chart form.

In order to remain in business, companies must have proper strategies in place to reduce costs while they still deliver the same standard of service. In order to remain competitive, companies have implemented Information Communication Technology (ICT). The implementation of ICT was done to assist organisations to improve efficiency in their production processes. To achieve these objectives, companies implemented Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Some companies that have implemented an ERP system, however, are faced with the challenge of not fully realising the full benefits of implementing the ERP system. The Water Industry is faced with a challenge of ensuring that it manages the water value chain effectively through the use of an ERP system. The industry is also experiencing difficult times in ensuring that the business is run in a sustainable manner to manage the infrastructure assets. This has resulted in the importance of internal reporting within the Water Industry to assist management to monitor performance and take informed decisions. The implementation of an ERP system has affected all the roles in the Water Industry, especially the role of management accountants who are involved with internal reporting. Management accountants are experiencing challenges during and after the implementation of an ERP system, especially with the effective and efficient reporting of information. This study investigated the challenges that management accountants encountered after the implementation of an ERP system in the Water Industry in South Africa. The research consists of a preliminary study to identify challenges that management accountants encounter during and after the implementation of ERP system in the Water Industry. A literature review on the role of management accountants combined with the ERP system applications and framework are investigated and an ERP system implementation framework for the Water Industry is proposed. The proposed framework is evaluated and recommendations are made to those involved with the water industry that are considering upgrading or implementing an ERP system.

The importance of electricity in everyday life and demands to improve the reliability of distribution systems force utilities to operate and plan their networks in a more secure and economical manner. With higher demands on reliability from both customers and regulators, a big pressure has been put on the security of electricity supply which is considered as a fundamental requirement for modern societies. Thus, efficient solutions for reliability and security of supply improvements are not just of increasing interest, but also have significant socio-economic relevance. Distribution system planning (DSP) is one of the major activities of distribution utilities to deal with reliability enhancement. This thesis deals with developing optimization algorithms, which aim is to min- imize customer interruption costs, and thus maximize the reliability of the system. This is implemented either by decreasing customer interruption duration, frequency of customer interruptions or both. The algorithms are applied on a single or multi- ple DSP problems. Mixed-integer programming has been used as an optimization approach. It has been shown that solving and optimizing each one of the DSP problems contributes greatly to the reliability improvement, but brings certain challenges. Moreover, applying algorithms on multiple and integrated DSP problems together leads to even bigger complexity and burdensome. However, going toward this inte- grated approach results in a more appropriate and realistic DSP model. The idea behind the optimization is to achieve balance between reliability and the means to achieve this reliability. It is a decision making process, i.e. a trade-off between physical and pricing dimension of security of supply.

This project demonstrates the construction of a land planning geographic information system (GIS) for Tarrant County, and explores how the technology could be used to select sites for a county wide open space preservation plan. As Texas' Tarrant County continues to undergo rapid change due to growth and expansion, the need for proactive, resourceful community planning is greater than ever. One crucial issue facing the region is how to preserve open areas that serve the county's citizens' ecological, recreational, cultural and economic needs. In order to assess how much open space is needed and which sites should be considered for special attention, large amounts of varied spatial information must be analyzed. The answer to effectively dealing with such data sets is a geographic information system (GIS) that stores all pertinent data digitally and allows for its manipulation through use of a computer software package. This project demonstrates the construction of a land planning GIS for Tarrant County, and explores how the technology could be used to select sites for a county wide open space preservation plan.

In the Taiwanese culture, religion beliefs occupy a great place in the hearts of the people. They need enormous funds and manpower from the Pilgrimaging, lighting worship candles, Pacifying Taisui and the Ghost Festival. In this research, the data collected through field interviews and software research can be used to understand the problems and conflicts encountered by temple managers. The study conducted a questionnaire interviews with 25 temples in Taichung and Changhua to understand the management status and needs of each temple. In the study of temple management information system, due to the large number of temple management information system vendors, the more famous five temple management information system were selected. After comparative analysis, the temple management information system was chosen as the basis for case studies and a marketing promotion plan . According to the results of the research, the main reason for not using temple management information system is that older managers are not familiar with the use of computer software. We learned that the promotion of t temple management information system is not perfect enough, that innovation and progress are very slow. Whether the temple management information system can become a bridge of interaction between people and temples in the future is a worthy consideration for software developers and temples.

It indicates that Information system planning(ISP) is one of the challengesmanagers face in 1990*s in recent research. Literature about prescriptions and effectiveness of ISP is almost exploratory. Based on previous research, this research seeks to go further to verify whether the great extent the prescriptions of ISP fulfilled, the great level the attainment of effectiveness of ISP. After empirical study, it indicates that there*s significant linear regression relationship between the prescriptions and the effectiveness ofISP. On one hand, organizations emphasize "Analysis performed", on the other hand, organizations put emphasis on "schedule of planning". It seems to be contradictory. As organizations undergo process reengineering and go electronic, the role of their human resources department also undergoes transformation from the role of an administrative expert to a change agent and strategic partner. On the other hand, organizations need to streamline the operating process for integrated management of corporate and business information to further improve their productivity and quality of service, while reducing costs and increasing employee satisfaction.    At the same time, to redirect the time and energy of their human resource specialists to high value-added activities that aim at strategic development and to increase the output of human resource staff, it is imperative for organizations to take the advantage of information system to aid their internal human resources management activities. This way, it is more likely to achieve effective management and development of human assets. Using information technology to enhance the quality and efficiency of human resources management and adopting integrated information management, enterprises are able to manage internal and external human resources more rapidly, accurately and efficiently. This study targeted the case of Company A that has implemented e-HR system. Adopting a qualitative approach focusing on in-depth interview, the study has interviewed the key users of e-HR system in Company A and examined the reasons for Company A to adopt the human resource system and the course of its planning and implementation based on relevant data of Company A before and after system implementation, coupled with literature review and interview data. The study also makes suggestions for planning of subsequent module construction. Based on the study results, it is suggested that Company A needs to consider including human resources planning module, which is a management system that an organization can use for integrated management of human resources needs, into its subsequent module development undertaking. Good human resources planning enables a company to respond early to the supply and demand changes in the external environment. Such human resources planning module can be used to identify, analyze, predict and plan the changes and demands for human resources, thereby enhancing the organization’s operational efficiency.

The short and medium production planning usually find the shortage of capacity after arranging master schedule in the enterprise resource planning system. This will yields to rearrange the original master schedule. This research develops a checking capacity information system based on real time after receiving the customer order. After finding the shortage of inventories, the system can compute the loading of bottleneck equipment and the human resources. Before arranging master schedule, the loading of the all resources provides a reference for decision maker to make a decision of outsourcing or manufacturing. This may reduce the waste of rearranging master schedule, satisfy the customer’s due date, and prevent the goodwill loss.

Due to the metropolitan livelihood, public transportation system and road topology is so complicated that bring vital problems to people who live there. Although traditional GIS software as well as the computer solve the problem in some degree, users always find some thing frustrated within such systems. Late GPS system inspire some kind of fancy assistance in leading the WAY. However, GPS is not only costly but also constrained or even inaccurate in doing the leading. This paper focus on rational within the design of Route Planning information system in Taipei city (ROPE). ROPE could be considered as a brand new kind of GIS that start with the satisfaction of user requirements for such system. Within ROPE, some fancy frames had been proposed and some function had also been implemented (e.g., the address inquiry, driving direction location, common-knowledge based route planning,...etc). When compared with GPS system, ROPE could be ever better and without any additional cost.

Despite Creativity being seen as one essential source of innovation, an effective and consistent way of using this core skill on the activity of Information Systems (IS) planning has yet to be achieved. Attempts have been made to establish a relationship to apply creativity principles to IS planning, but up to now, there aren’t clear suggestions made on how to use the Design Thinking methodology to leverage creativity during the IS planning. Thus, this study suggests the Design Thinking’s great potential to tackle more application of creativity in IS planning. In the light of this context, this study aims to investigate and define a method based on the Design Thinking methodology’s approach to enable creativity during the IS planning activity. The study will follow the Design Science Research methodology to create and develop a method based on Design Thinking principles to leverage creativity in IS planning. It’s expected that the method proposed shows its effectiveness and efficiency in enabling creativity for the activity IS planning and producing innovative results.

Geographic Information System (GIS) technology is revolutionizing spatial data visualization, handling, manipulation and analysis in planning and related disciplines. The objective of this dissertation was to document the infiltration of GIS and other information technologies into planning schools; to clarify the difference between the GIS Revolution, and the Quantitative Revolution of the sixties; and to highlight and address the theoretical-technological disparities in planning school curricula. A comparison of the GIS Revolution with the Quantitative Revolution confirmed that unlike the large scale models and techniques that emerged in academia during the sixties, GIS technology is not an academic venture. It is a big business, with the software products of commercial vendors driving the teaching and research agendas at U.S. planning schools. The GIS profession has emerged, and there is a high demand for schools to turn out planners with relevant knowledge and experience. The soaring popularity of GIS courses and GIS specialties in planning schools was documented, and the implications of GIS technology for computer and human resources, and for the nature and style of instruction, assignments, studios, research projects, theses and dissertations, is discussed. It was noted that, despite the impact of GIS technology on course offerings, the planning pedagogic model has changed little. In particular, planning theory has remained a core course since its inception in the planning curriculum. A review of course outlines, course content and literature revealed that GIS and planning theory courses do not complement each other. In fact, academic criticism of GIS and related information technologies has further intensified with the barrage of post-positivist philosophies, advanced by many theorists. Given the importance of both types of courses, it was concluded that the theorist-technician dichotomy is counterproductive, and that viable methods of integration must be researched. The concept of links was introduced and exemplified to demonstrate the contexts within which planning theory topics can be integrated with GIS topics.

For the convenient of processing vast amount of information, the unity of sport with information technology made sport competition information system possible. Therefore, using the literature analysis and interview the person in charge of the gymnasium from universities and college, professional at sports and person in charge of general sport events, the research aims to develop a planning for sport competition information system that can carry out multiple types of sport. The system will be divided three parts: Application for the contest information , Management for the contest information and Management for single event. All three parts will include it’s user into consideration, the administrator as well as guests. The developers will include sign up, ballot, schedule and results in the Management for single event as well as integrate all the available sporting events. After the completion of the planning, the developer invite students of Information Management from Chung Hsing University, PE teacher, teachers from Information Management, the people in charge of gymnasium and the people who host an sporting event frequently outside as special guest to help conduct a survey on this system to made the development of this system possible by implementing the advice of participants.
