The subject of the dissertation is the phenomenon of religeous extremism in the arab world. The pattern of our research was as fellows : -on the one hand, we studied the islamic extremism as a phenomenon attracting more and more attention throughout the world. Being very influencial at all levels of political life in the arab world, extremism, an old phenomenon, is a deeply roated thought as well as very spread mouvement in the remote post of the arabmuslim history. We were led to trace the evolution of this phenomenon from its early years. - on the other hand, we procured our attention in the study of the islamic mouve- ments that passed the way to extremism and on the political organisations that claimed it. Our choice of egypt and syria, is justified by important considerations which were exhibited in the present research. - to include, we have studied the main causes that fourmed the emergence of the so-called: religious extremism
MIRAH, FADLALLAH. "La problematique de l'heritage philosophique chez husayn muruwa (1910-1987)." Paris 1, 1998. http://www.theses.fr/1998PA010628.
Повний текст джерелаAre the materialistic tedencies of the arabico-islamic philosophy constituing a myth, or are they a reality ? husayn muruwwa's thesis title is "the materialistic tedencies of the arabico- islamic philosophy", and is presented as an annonce done to both arabs and muslims. That assumes the author (h. M) has, like an explorer, discovered materialistics tendencies in the depth of the arabico-muslim cultural heritage, in its philosophy more precisely. Moreover, the latter is supposed to emanate from its theological dimensions when regretted henri laoust considers that instead of philosophy, we must speak of theology. We did not settle this question, but we prefered focus on the thought; so we started to look for materialistic tedencies with more detachment than h. M. (he was a committed communist). We ended with the conclusion that instead of materialistic tedencies (absent), it will be more appropriate to speak of rational process and, toward, ambition of liberation

This thesis provides a reflection on the paradoxical articulation between the “political speech” which is at the public level and the “literature expression” which is at the singular level. The dissertation relies on making a comparative study considering the French female writers from one side and those of Middle-East from the other side. Therefore, we have underlined fundamental questions concerning the status and identity of the women. We have specially focuses on its challenging relation with the world of expression, creation, and innovation; more generally, with the public domain. During the critical periods of the modern history, the publications of Arab and French women, especially in the domain of wars and political conflicts, have highlighted their potentials and motivate the redefinition of their role in the oriental and occidental socio-political world. Basically, the women introduce effectively in both the political and poetical worlds modern concepts and values through the usage of linguistically tools of challenge and revolution. This implicitly seeks to liberate her from the assigned minor position in the society through the power of expression and the strength of word. Then, this leads to figure out a world under a harmonious and even mystic relation among its human beings where the differences are absorbed by the syncretism of expressions and values. Such Cultural Revolution, based on the dialog of civilizations, provides a better world liberated from the frontiers of the “difference”

My thesis is a study of the social commitment of Egyptian poets in the second half of the 20th century and at the beginning of the 21st century, in the poetic works of Fārūq Ğuwayda, Fārūq Šūša – writing in literary Arabic and Aḥmad Fu’ād Nağm, Ṣalāḥ Ğāhīn – writing in Egyptian dialect. These poetic productions are analysed on several levels: historical, social, political – on the one side – and literal focused on language and poetics – on the other side. These various levels cross and influence one another in every poem, creating its unique form and content in each work involved in social issues. By the means of sociocriticism and poetic studies I have analysed the selected poems of these four poets, which constitute the framework of my thesis. Each poet has different social origins and curriculum vitae, as well as education that bring various tinctures to the commitment in their poetry
Guermazi, Amal. "La musique dans le cinéma de Youssef Chahine : spécificités et fonctions." Thesis, Sorbonne université, 2020. http://www.theses.fr/2020SORUL009.
Повний текст джерелаAlthough prominent, music in Chahine's cinema has still not been the focus of any in-depth musicological study. For the first time to the best of our knowledge, and at the crossroads of History, Cinema and Musicology, this thesis aims at revealing the very specificities and functions of music in the filmmaker’s work.First, the study provides a historical contextualization of music in Egyptian cinema during the first half of the 20th century. It shows the close relationship between film and song ever since the introduction of talking pictures to the country. Second, the director's own career-path is revisited in light of his most significant musical films. Four founding periods are identified and summarized in the following eras: pure entertainment, political engagement, conciliation and finally festive criticism. In this last stage, we unveil how Chahine redefines the codes of the Arab musical film with a music that embodies in itself a socio-political discourse. Thanks to the new archives kept at the Cinémathèque française, we can immerse ourselves at the heart of a music-driven film making process. Noting the influences of the director, understanding his intentions and aspirations will eventually allow us to better seize the Chahinian universe

This thesis contributes to a historical sociology of revolutionary emergence in Egypt, through a localized and micrological approach. The revolutionary emergence refers to a sequence of interactions, always contingent, which can give rise to a sudden breakdown of a political regime. ln order to give an account of the concrete mechanisms constituting these sequences. This research is based on the study of the careers of revolutionaries and novices in Egypt's second city, Alexandria, during the "revolution of 25 January 2011". These political commitments are analyzed in the light of the political, economic and cultural transformations that Egypt has undergone since the 1980s and, more specifically, the renewal of protest activities that marked the decade 2000. Using a multitude of sources and data (interviews, observations, digital traces, press reviews, photographs and videos), this thesis allows us to renew our understanding of revolutionary phenomena and how they emerge. More precisely, we see how, against the background of globalizing and reifying analyses of revolutionary processes, we cannot understand the dynamics of the emergence of a crisis without returning to the situational parameters and, above all, to the local dynamics of each case. Moreover, by focusing attention on the city of Alexandria, this thesis contributes to opening a research avenue on this important Mediterranean metropolis which remains under-studied
Kamar, Ranya. "L'humanisme paradoxal dans l'oeuvre d'Albert Cossery." Nice, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011NICE2032.
Albert Cossery, is an Egyptian writer that used to write in French language. He was born in Cairo, on November 3rd 1913. He moved to Paris in 1945 and lived at the Hotel La Louisiane. He had the same room for more than 50 years. Cossery passed away at the age of 93, leaving behind him a work of 8 books. He was one of the famous writers that offered to his country unforgettable pages of thoughts. Most of his work described the Egyptian society with a perfect sense of human universe. He described a world with its imperfections and its aspirations. We can always see in his work a particular vision of life and a philosophy of the road to serenity. Cossery had a radical critic of the society and civilization. He is considered to be one of the figures of literature, and as a writer, he is a modern writer that embraced a mix of famous schools of the last century such as the American school ( beat generation) and the French school (existentialism). Moreover, he had, within this framework, his own personality and style. His young heroes that he created in his books and that were always positive, reflected his universal ideas and philosophy. They are not affected by the honours of this world. His hero might not have money, ambitions, Family or friends, but having always a sense of humour and loving this life, the hero becomes untouchable. Nothing will come to disturb his feeling of being complete. His hero had lived of “love and fresh water”. This hero might not wait from this life, nothing, but life itself. Albert Cossery is inviting us to live with nothing in hand, but proud to be what we are
El-Said, Kamel Iman. "L'Orient et l'Occident, tranferts culturels et création romanesque : deux périodiques égyptiens francophones et deux romanciers égyptiens (1920-1956)." Paris 4, 2002. http://www.theses.fr/2002PA040093.
Повний текст джерелаIn our introduction, we study the historical contacts and the system of intercultural exchanges between Egypt and France. Then we discribe the French-speaking circle and justify the choice of the French language in Egypt. In the first part, we give a summary of the French-speaking press in Egypt and the monograph of two Egyptian literary reviews : La Revue du Caire (1938-1961) and La Semaine Égyptienne (1926-1951). These publications are considered as diffusion canals of French literature in Egypt and an efficient means of cultural transfer. The second part, headed "The dialectic of the relation between the East and the West in the Egyptian novel at the beginning of the XXe century", is centered on the study of tension forces who accelerate the complex and evolving cultural interactions. To do so we analyse three novels : The recovered soul (1933) and The bird of the East (1938) of Tawfiq Al-Hakim and Adib (1935) of Taha Husayn. The conclusion emphasises the dialogue between the two cultures. A reciprocal appreciation and comprehension of the cultural values of the two countries are necessary to secure this dialogue
This research, which uses historical, organological and analytical approaches, is solely concentrated on a musical instrument and two of its masters. The qānūn is a traditional chordophone where strings are plucked; it is the base of the instrumental ensemble called takht which is inherent to the musical artistic tradition of the Mashriq during the Nahḍa period (Arabic Renaissance 1898-1939). Subjected to many organological changes during this period, and subjected to many transformations in the musical grammar with respect to acculturation and modernism between the two wars, the improvisational instrumental style, known as qānūn taqsīm saw a significant evolution. The latter is studied in this thesis, bearing in mind the historical and systematic organology of the instrument, the performance mode, the history of this musical tradition, as well as relying upon the analysis of transcriptions of recorded examples of 78 RPM of the two great masters of the instrument: Muḥammad al- ‘Aqqād (1849-1930) and Muḥammad ‘Abduh Ṣāliḥ (1912-1970)
Abdelghaffar-Farid, Maha. "Une ethnologie mondaine : l'Egypte vue par Cocteau." Thesis, Limoges, 2017. http://www.theses.fr/2017LIMO0090.
Повний текст джерелаA Worldly Ethnology: Cocteau's vision of Egypt is to understand how the famous French poet and playwright perceived the land of the Pharaohs in the early 1950s. Jean Cocteau travels it during a theater tour of the Comédie French. He writes his impressions and moods in a narrative entitled Maalesh, an expression borrowed from the Egyptian language of everyday life. This travelogue breaks with the style and vision of Romantic Orientalism which other travel writers like Gérard de Nerval or Pierre Loti were impregnated with. Maalesh is an unknown work, yet particularly interesting to study because it represents for Cocteau a sort of culmination in his incessant quest for an understanding of death, which has obsessed him since his childhood. Ancient Egypt, especially the enigmatic Sphinx he considers a "god", will provide answers. Although carried away by the mundane evenings of Cairo and Alexandria, Jean Cocteau also gives a strong testimony on an Egyptian society in full transformation which begins to free itself from the colonization. In describing the apparent misery that is eating away at the country, it will attract the wrath of King Farouk. This will prevent Maalesh from being read enough by the Egyptians. This thesis also tries to fill this gap by proposing a translation of a good part of the book, which will be accessible to Arabic-speaking students and scholars
Afkir, Fatima. "L'image de l’Égypte dans l’oeuvre de Tawfīq al-Ḥakīm". Thesis, Bordeaux 3, 2014. http://www.theses.fr/2014BOR30059/document.
Повний текст джерелаIf we contemplate the playwright's rich production, we realise to what extent Egypt plays a prominent part in his work and life. It is the crowning achievement of his literary work which highlights all the aspects of this country, social, historical, cultural and political However, in this study, we will try to limit our subject of The image of Egypt in T.al-Hakim's work to two particular eras, the revolutions of 1919 and 1952. His writings clearly relate those major events. The way he thinks, writes, criticizes and analyses before and after the 1919 revolution is no longer the same after the 1952 revolution. He started being a dreamy idealistic writer, and turned into another one, more realistic and committed in his literary work. Our global problematics will hinge on the following issues: what representation of Egypt does Tawfiq al-Hakim's work give? Can we regard his return to ancient myths as a continuity between modern Egypt and ancient Egypt? In a first part, we deal with the two revolutions which have had repercussions on his writings and political vision. The second part will tackle the society of his novel, in which he describes a country seen through a native Egyptian, and the strong ties which link the Egyptian people to their nation. The third part will focus on women and on the fallah, which greatly inspired the writer. The fourth part will be dedicated to the Pharaonic Egypt. We will see how far he has been influenced by ancient Egypt to descibe the modern one. We have relied on a few works of different writers so as to find an authentic link between what he writes and thinks reality and imagination in his works. We will analyse the way he sees, observes and criticizes his own country
