This article considers the theme of discernment in the tradition of Ignatian spirituality emanating from the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556), the founder of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). After a brief introduction which addresses the central problematic of bad influences that manifest themselves as good, the article turns to the life and work of two Jesuits, the 16th C English missionary to India, Thomas Stephens and the 20th C French historian and cultural critic, Michel de Certeau. Both kept up a constant dialogue with local culture in which they sought authenticity in their response to ‘events’, whether a hideous massacre which shaped the pastoral commitment and writing of Stephens in the south of the Portuguese enclave of Goa or the 1968 student-led protests in Paris that so much affected the thinking of de Certeau. Very different in terms of personal background and contemporary experience, they both share in a tradition of discernment as a virtuous response to what both would understand as the ‘wisdom of the Spirit’ revealed in their personal interactions with ‘the other’.

This paper attempts to deal with an essential dimension of the process of discernment as Francis develops it, namely, the narrative. The paper treats the imaginative discernment exemplified in his use of storytelling, metaphors, and symbols to open a creative forum for discerning sacred truths in our personal lives. To justify the appropriateness of Francis’s use of imagination in discernment, the first part of the paper analyzes Ignatius’s use of the imagination, especially in the Rules for Discernment of Spirits. The second and lengthier part of the paper turns to Pope Francis’s skilled narrative use of metaphors and symbols. He adopts the Ignatian imaginative style with metaphors that appeal to contemporary seekers. The various metaphorical twists that he incorporates into this experience have a privileged place in his spiritual pedagogy of accompanying, discerning, and walking together with people during difficult times. The metaphorical style of Ignatius and Francis allows for a comprehensive understanding of the role that imagination can play in the discernment of spirits. Besides enriching our understanding of discernment, this style can facilitate a Christian spirituality that enhances the search for and discovery of meaning within our contemporary lives.

This article employs a Christological lens, deeply informed by Bernard J. F. Lonergan’s theology of history and soteriology, to discern the conditions necessary for all-inclusive solidarity. It highlights the twofold kenotic aspect of solidarity, addressing a gap in mainstream theological discourses that often emphasize ‘particular’ solidarity with those in need while neglecting its ‘universal’ (all-inclusive) dimension. Affirming ‘universal’ solidarity necessitates guarding against a misleading notion of neutrality and against totalization, as well as resisting a truncated understanding of intersubjectivity that is prone to group bias. After laying the foundations for understanding solidarity in light of its secular origins and Christian theological context, the article concludes that redemptive solidarity cannot exist without a christomorphic kenosis, which encompasses two incommensurable dimensions: solidarity with victims and solidarity with victimizers as potential converts (that is, as capable of metanoia). In the pursuit of transforming evil into good in history, kenotic solidarity requires prioritizing the common good over personal advantage, even to the extent of refusing to exploit what is (or seems to be) rightfully one’s own—whether privilege, possessions, or the right to strict retribution— just as Christ did when he did not exploit his equality with God to his own advantage (Phil 2:6).

元宇宙是借助数字技术打造的沉浸式全息虚拟社会，其实现需要依靠增强现实（AR）、虚拟现实（VR）等沉浸式技术设备获得用户的动态，在此过程中需要大量收集用户的身体特征数据、手势动作、眼球位置信息等广义的“个人生物信息”。当前，我国《个人信息保护法》对于广义上的“个人生物信息”并无明确定义，仅将“个人生物识别信息”列举为“特殊个人敏感信息”的七种情形之一。结合个人生物信息在元宇宙中的技术中立、平台管理、跨国利用、去中心化追责风险，应拓宽“个人生物识别信息”的法律概念，将“可识别”纳入其概念范畴内，以回应个人生物信息的广义内涵。此外，还需要建立去中心化身份认证系统，完善 “My Data” 数据模式，并强化代码与法律的互补，以构建更加全面和有效的个人生物信息保护机制，在技术发展的同时确保个人隐私不受侵害，构建安全、公正、有序的元宇宙环境。 Metaverse is an immersive holographic virtual society created with the help of digital technology, the realisation of which needs to rely on immersive technological devices such as Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) to obtain the dynamics of the user, and in the process needs to collect a large number of user’s physical characteristics data, gestures, eye position information and other broadly-defined “personal bio-information”. Currently, China’s Personal Information Protection Law does not have a clear definition of “personal biological information” in the broad sense, and only lists “personal biometric information” as one of the seven types of “special personal sensitive information”. It only lists “personal biometric information” as one of the seven cases of “special personal sensitive information”. Taking into account the risks of technological neutrality, platform management, transnational use and decentralisation of personal biometric information in the meta-universe, the legal concept of “personal biometric information” should be broadened to include “identifiable” in its conceptual scope, in order to respond to the broad connotation of personal biometric information. The legal concept of “personal biometric information” should be broadened to include “identifiable” in order to respond to the broader meaning of personal biometric information. In addition, it is also necessary to establish a decentralised authentication system, improve the “My Data” data model, and strengthen the complementarity between code and law, in order to build a more comprehensive and effective protection mechanism for personal biometric information, to ensure that personal privacy is not infringed upon while the technology develops, and to build a safe, just and orderly meta-universe environment.

One of the major factors for personal development and growth is understanding human emotions, and therefore it plays an important role in imitating human intelligence. Vocal and Sentiment analysis are the major focus points for advancement in Artificial Intelligence (AI). Sentiment analysis provides major help to data analysts of big enterprises to measure public opinion, conducting market research, understanding customers experience and viewing brand and product reputation. Emotion recognition provides an opportunity to grasp the general people’s sentiments about social events, marketing strategies, political views and product liking. In this paper, we have used various AI models on a variety of audio datasets to recognise and analyse the sentiments of the speaker. Our dataset includes some audio songs sung by some singers and some audio clips of few actors. We trained CNN and LSTM models to analyse our dataset and predict their accuracy. The ever-growing need of sentiment analysis coincides greatly with the extension of social media such as forum discussions, social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and many other similar platforms.

The general topic of the analysis of the author aims to observe several facets of the manifestation of pastoral work in local communities. To highlight this, the author considers it very important to understand how the Church implements her canonical decisions so that the faithful are supported in their spiritual life according to a good management of the means available to the Church (oikonomia) and by showing pastoral discernment both at the personal and community level. In order to achieve this goal, the author analyses the way in which these two notions are present in the documents promulgated by the Council of Trullo (691-692). e whole pastoral ministry of the Church is a manifestation of ecclesial discernment. e canons of the Council in Trullo are fundamental texts of the Church which bring together the entire canonical tradition highlighting the relationship between the pastoral discernment of the servants of Christ and the freedom of those who seek spiritual healing. An important role is given to Canon 102 of the Council of Trullo.

Dance improvisation in performance is often spirited and unpredictable. But the form can also be hampered by its conditions of uncertainty so that a state of open, spontaneous creativity can actually become difficult to achieve in performance situations. In particular, the perceived ‘judgment’ of an audience can alternately enhance or inhibit the performer’s creative engagement with open improvisation. This article describes a studio process utilizing Authentic Movement which was directed towards a performance in which the dancers attempted to diminish the negative impact that external factors, or internalized perceptions of external factors, can have on improvisation. However, the article is specifically focused on the experiences of a single dancer (the author) in the studio practice which underpinned the performance. At the heart of this practice were personal explorations of how best to discern a positive personal interest while improvising. This discernment is framed as a means to define an ‘inner witness’ (drawing from Authentic Movement theory): an internal perceptual anchor at the centre of the practice which helps fosters an open, imaginative engagement with improvisation. The article also seeks to clarify a subjective situation in objective, theoretical terms and so to shed light on a phenomenon also experienced by many other performers of improvisation. Drawing on the work of Teresa Brennan and Mihali Csikszentmihalyi, the article examines how the affective impact of judgment can interrupt the spontaneous flow of embodied imagination in improvisation.

La muerte de un hijo en período de gestación es un momento doloroso, lleno de sentimientos negativos por parte de la madre, padre y familia que esperan la llegada de un ser que les cambiará la vida. Este proceso no es ajeno al personal de salud que brinda la atención y cuidado en este difícil momento. Según la literatura, el personal de salud se ve enfrentado a una situación sin las herramientas necesarias para otorgar una atención de calidad y con una mirada compasiva. El objetivo de este artículo es hacer una reflexión a partir del caso de una madre que atraviesa por un duelo perinatal, invisibilizado por parte del personal de salud; se realiza una narración desde el contexto que envuelve a la madre, padre y familia, su pérdida y vivencia del duelo, conceptualizando las principales concepciones de la temática planteada, para luego aplicar el discernimiento bioético del caso. Se entrega una propuesta de manejo del duelo perinatal, con el fin de contribuir a la reflexión social y multidisciplinaria de la compasión en la atención ante la muerte gestacional. Se concluye que si bien se ha avanzado a nivel mundial en esta materia, se debe fiscalizar el cumplimiento de las normativas, además de contribuir al proceso desde la responsabilidad individual.

Tension between personal experience and community discernment, a prophesy and Church’s teaching, judgement of conscience and trueness of moral doctrine is still alive. Ultimately, it is all about what in the Church is subjective and what is objective. This reconciled opposition is inscribed in the identity of Christianity. Evangelical testimony of disciples going to Jerusalem after encountering Jesus in Emmaus and theirs confrontation with Peter’s experience demonstrates a model of appropriate route: subjective does not transgress objective, personal it is in tone with ecclesiastical. Despite an agreement among Christians in terms of general direction, a diff erence at level of details between particular traditions is noticed. Without depreciating individual and discerned, Catholic Church invariably supports the necessity to acknowledge The Teaching Office of the Church and the power of bishops within diocese. Of course all faithful take part in carrying and development of the legacy, especially through testimony and creative dialogue. Synods, councils and other bodies serve an example. However they do not cover doctrinal and disciplinary issues. Formation, obedience and spiritual guidance are important at personal level. Recognition of bishop’s authority, adherence to the Tradition and cannons and obedience to spiritual guide (the elder) are key elements of Orthodox tradition. Special attention is given to conciliarity (synodality) on various levels of Church. On the other side, for the post-reformation communities the fundamental and practically the only rule is Sola Scriptura. Bible does not give answer to each particular question and does not describe every form of Holy Spirit’s action therefore different conclusions and options arise in various denominations. Undertaking the process of discernment itself, historical Churches follow more codified path of Church’s discernment such as synods, councils, conferences while evangelical communities accept even more individual approach, recommending of course pastoral prudence and consultations with pastor or elders of the congregation. It is especially necessary among Pentecostal Christians accepting the presence of charismatic gifts, to include prophecy.

Claims that therapeutic fuzziness and unexplored assumptions contribute to an all-too-ready devaluing or dismissal of what is important to religious clients. Argues that sorting out the client's religiosity components into facets of religion, spirituality, and theology to reflect respectively the process, capacity, and product of meaning-making serves to shed light on why consideration of religiosity is important in therapy. Notes that such processes of discernment provide a bridge between the sciences ( e.g. psychology) and humanitarian ( e.g. religiosity) endeavors in that both engage in the same meta-process of meaning-making in their search for empowerment, although they do so from different perspectives and different initial suppositions. Concludes that the art of psychotherapy can draw on the content of both science and religiosity to facilitate well-being in clients and in therapists alike.

However, her ongoing diary-writing practice gradually clarified her unique preparation for a complementary ministry of spiritual direction and soul companionship, a fairly new concept and practice within the African American community. This essay describes how her longstanding interest in personal writing, especially once it morphed into spiritual journaling, uniquely equipped her with an effective means for facilitating spiritual direction of others. Her personal journey of vocational discovery validates writing as a form of prayer and a pathway to discernment.

The present research examined the relationship between political ideology and perceptions of the threat of COVID-19. Due to Republican leadership’s initial downplaying of COVID-19 and the resulting partisan media coverage, we predicted that conservatives would perceive it as less threatening. Two preregistered online studies supported this prediction. Conservatism was associated with perceiving less personal vulnerability to the virus and the virus’s severity as lower, and stronger endorsement of the beliefs that the media had exaggerated the virus’s impact and that the spread of the virus was a conspiracy. Conservatism also predicted less accurate discernment between real and fake COVID-19 headlines and fewer accurate responses to COVID-19 knowledge questions. Path analyses suggested that presidential approval, knowledge about COVID-19, and news discernment mediated the relationship between ideology and perceived vulnerability. These results suggest that the relationship between political ideology and threat perceptions may depend on issue framing by political leadership and media.

摘要：随着大数据时代的降临，算法技术的正当性问题引发人们关注。区别于算法正义和数据正义，认知正义以认知主体为视角并具有法律意义，要求认知主体的认知水平与认知客体的可信度相匹配。实践中存在对大数据挖掘所获证据的证明力进行天然推定，证明标准难以对法官心证形成控制的现状。这是由于大数据挖掘基于相关关系的思维冲击了人们的认知惯性，将解释权交给了算法，降低了认知水平，算法黑箱的不透明性和难以检验性导致认知客体本不应当赋予过高的可信度，算法歧视导致难以对二者匹配的过程进行矫正。需要将内心确信符合信念标准、偏见性算法信息应仅发挥补强性作用、将大数据挖掘所获信息在辩护人阅卷中进行披露、破除相互印证的因果逻辑桎梏，从而回归于认知正义，走向法治而非“算法治”。 Abstract: With the emergence of the big data era, questions about the legitimacy of algorithmic technologies have arisen. Distinguished from algorithmic justice and data justice, cognitive justice takes the perspective of the cognitive subject and has legal significance, requiring the cognitive level of the cognitive subject to match the credibility of the cognitive object. In practice, there is a natural presumption of the probative power of evidence obtained by big data mining, and the standard of proof is difficult to control the judge’s mental evidence. This is due to the big data mining based on the correlation of thinking impacts the cognitive inertia of people, the interpretation of the right to the algorithm, reducing the level of cognition, the opacity of the black box of the algorithm and difficult to test leads to the cognitive object should not have been given too much credibility, the algorithmic discrimination leads to the difficulty of the process of correcting the matching of the two. There is a need to return to cognitive justice, towards the rule of law rather than the “rule of law”, by bringing inner certainty in line with the standard of conviction, biased algorithmic information should play only a reinforcing role, disclosure of the information obtained from big data mining in the reading of the defense case file and breaking the shackles of the causal logic of mutual corroboration.

Background Health misinformation on social media can negatively affect knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors, undermining clinical care and public health efforts. Therefore, it is vital to better understand the public’s experience with health misinformation on social media. Objective The goal of this analysis was to examine perceptions of the social media information environment and identify associations between health misinformation perceptions and health communication behaviors among US adults. Methods Analyses used data from the 2022 Health Information National Trends Survey (N=6252). Weighted unadjusted proportions described respondents’ perceptions of the amount of false or misleading health information on social media (“perceived misinformation amount”) and how difficult it is to discern true from false information on social media (“perceived discernment difficulty”). Weighted multivariable logistic regressions examined (1) associations of sociodemographic characteristics and subjective literacy measures with misinformation perceptions and (2) relationships between misinformation perceptions and health communication behaviors (ie, sharing personal or general health information on social media and using social media information in health decisions or in discussions with health care providers). Results Over one-third of social media users (35.61%) perceived high levels of health misinformation, and approximately two-thirds (66.56%) reported high perceived discernment difficulty. Odds of perceiving high amounts of misinformation were lower among non-Hispanic Black/African American (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] 0.407, 95% CI 0.282-0.587) and Hispanic (aOR 0.610, 95% CI 0.449-0.831) individuals compared to White individuals. Those with lower subjective health literacy were less likely to report high perceived misinformation amount (aOR 0.602, 95% CI 0.374-0.970), whereas those with lower subjective digital literacy were more likely to report high perceived misinformation amount (aOR 1.775, 95% CI 1.400-2.251). Compared to White individuals, Hispanic individuals had lower odds of reporting high discernment difficulty (aOR 0.620, 95% CI 0.462-0.831). Those with lower subjective digital literacy (aOR 1.873, 95% CI 1.478-2.374) or numeracy (aOR 1.465, 95% CI 1.047-2.049) were more likely to report high discernment difficulty. High perceived misinformation amount was associated with lower odds of sharing general health information on social media (aOR 0.742, 95% CI 0.568-0.968), using social media information to make health decisions (aOR 0.273, 95% CI 0.156-0.479), and using social media information in discussions with health care providers (aOR 0.460, 95% CI 0.323-0.655). High perceived discernment difficulty was associated with higher odds of using social media information in health decisions (aOR 1.724, 95% CI 1.208-2.460) and health care provider discussions (aOR 1.389, 95% CI 1.035-1.864). Conclusions Perceptions of high health misinformation prevalence and discernment difficulty are widespread among social media users, and each has unique associations with sociodemographic characteristics, literacy, and health communication behaviors. These insights can help inform future health communication interventions.

The development of digital technology, especially the smartphone, has a tremendous impact within all persons and structures of society, including the seminarians and their formation in seminaries. They can no longer withdraw and refuse to utilize the various facilities or applications provided by smartphone. Instead, they must learn to use it appropriately, wisely and competently, sharpened by appropriate theological insights that reflect priestly spirituality based on a constant dialogue with God. This requires them to have discretionary skills regarding the use of smartphone. Using a quantitative and qualitative methods, this research focuses on the understanding and experience of discretion in using smartphone among the seminarians in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, based on John Cassian’s thoughts on discernment. The result shows that among the seminarians there is a gap between their understanding and their practice on discretion. On the one hand, they understand very well what discretion is and how it should be applied in using smartphone. The polished image of netizens on social media can confer numerous benefits. Drawing on Goffman's Dramaturgical approach, this study analyzes the rationale and repercussions of crafting idealized personas on social media platforms. This approach is evident in the way individuals curate their online presence. Enhancing one's image can boost personal confidence in social interactions; however, a falsified portrayal can lead others astray, affecting social trust. In people’s daily lives, this understanding helps us to better comprehend and navigate interpersonal relationships through nuanced social interactions. The Internet cannot fully capture the essence of individuals, and attempts to gain a comprehensive understanding of a public figure solely through online means are often futile. For individuals, any received information should be thoroughly analyzed, moving beyond the idealized facade that others present, examining the underlying substance, and assimilating only credible and genuine information. By applying the theory of dramaturgy to analyze social images both on stage and behind the scenes, one can objectively assess the true intentions behind the creation of social personas. Those seeking greater benefits may resort to excessive packaging to deceive the public, necessitating more discernment and critical thinking in social interactions to prevent being misled.

The increased interest in exorcisms and demonology should be moderated by a proper understanding of the relationship between psychology and spirituality. There is an important link between psychological aberrations and possession, but too often and too quickly, a person’s mental health is dismissed or overlooked in favor of a diagnosis of demonic possession. The Church’s ritual of exorcism can be properly used only after psychological discernment, episcopal approval, and personal assent. Most priests are not prepared for the role of exorcist and should spend their time more effectively addressing pastoral needs. The belief in demons is part of biblical witness and Catholic history. At the same time, we must avoid any tendency toward redemption by exorcism.

In this article, we consider the cases of two American undergraduates, Lola and Audrey, who studied abroad for a semester in France. Drawing on interview data collected during their sojourn, we consider their accounts of living and learning in France through the lens of Jesuit spirituality. In doing so, we demonstrate that although these students’ accounts offer little evidence of linguistic or intercultural development, their deeply personal reactions to a term abroad in France suggest a kind of beneficial identity crisis best understood in the spiritual terms of desolation, consolation, discernment, and election. Following the case studies, we apply our findings to the outline of a short-term study abroad program in France designed to maximize linguistic and spiritual development.

A Igreja católica, atenta a este processo, vem demonstrando uma atenção especial ao discernimento vocacional dos candidatos ao sacerdócio, para que a natureza deste ministério seja vivida de acordo com o sacerdócio de Cristo, que é o modelo do Arquétipo sacerdotal de Melquisedec. O trabalho formativo consiste, em parte, na ativação deste arquétipo, mas também na ajuda necessária para um discernimento e desenvolvimento da integralidade do processo formativo, que, na linguagem de Jung, pode estar ligado ao Self, como eixo integrador das dimensões da formação. Outro caminho se relaciona a Cristo (o Si-mesmo na linguagem analítica), como modelo de sacerdote. E, enfim, existe a relação mais aproximada do processo de individuação, que ocorre de forma progressiva e não tem um fim, pois constantemente cada um é chamado a individuar-se, num contínuo processo de amadurecimento psíquico, espiritual, intelectual e pastoral, exigindo de cada vocacionado revisões constantes em vista de um crescimento pessoal.Abstract: The present work contains some considerations about the training of Catholic priests and its connection with Jung’s Analytical Psychology. The Catholic Church, careful of this process, has been giving special attention to the vocational discernment of the candidates to priesthood, in order that the nature of the ministry may be lived in accordance with the priesthood of Christ who is the model for Melquisedec’s sacerdotal archetype. The educational work consists partially in the activation of the archetype, but also in the necessary help towards a discernment and development throughout the training process, that, in Jung’s language, may be linked with the Self as the integrating axle of the educational dimensions. Another path is related to Christ (the Oneself in the analytical language) as a model of priesthood. And, finally, there exists a closer relation with a process of individuation that happens progressively and has no end, for each one is constantly asked to individuate himself, in a continuous process of psychic, spiritual, intellectual and pastoral maturation, demanding of each trainee constant revisions in benefit of his personal growth.Keywords: Educational process. This research synthesizes the information systems and marketing research by considering the usefulness of online product reviews in the context of Wang and Strong's Data Quality Framework. It examines the extent to which a review's intrinsic (review anonymity and use of personal pronouns), contextual (review length, verified purchase, rating, and rating extremity), and representational quality (spelling errors, grammar errors, readability) impact the perceived usefulness of a product review. The examination of Amazon reviews for an inexpensive experience product revealed number of words, verified purchase, and grammar errors have a significant positive impact on review usefulness. Rating and number of spelling errors have a negative effect, suggesting consumers use some discernment in assessing the believably of a review. Surprisingly, the opposite effect was found for grammar errors, with more grammar errors being associated with a more useful review.

With the rapid growth of social media platforms, the number of influencers has proliferated. Influencers have become a key link between brands and consumers. Through their personal identities or social accounts, influencers use their influence to promote products or services for brands, and this Netflix economy model has been widely used in various industries. This paper aims to explore the specific forms of influencer marketing and analyse its application in different fields, focusing on the positive and negative impacts on brands and consumers. It has been observed that influencers across various sectors have implemented unique marketing strategies that can significantly enhance brand visibility and foster consumer confidence. However, issues such as false promotions and inappropriate personal remarks by influencers may also have negative impacts. In light of these findings, this study advocates for brands to exercise greater discernment in their partner selection and to motivate influencers to uphold authenticity in their promotional activities. The research significance of this paper lies in the fact that through the in-depth analysis of influencer marketing, it provides a reference for brands to optimise their social media marketing strategies, as well as a basis for further research on influencer marketing in different fields.

The text describes two journeys, the first being a physical journey that Rehman Rashid, the writer himself undertakes upon his return home to Malaysia, while the second journey is an emotionally critical, highly personal, expressive and hopeful journey on Malaysia’s pre and post independence history and its impact on the him as an individual and on the multiethnic Malaysian society. Both journeys, however, attempt to introduce readers to the social matrices, politics, religion (practiced by the majority) and culture of Malaysians. The goals are here to challenge reader’s existing socio-political perceptions on pre and post independent Malaysia and to shape writer’s own discernment and consciousness on his social cultural background.

The concept of the Five Control Points, FCP (systematized by the author), is a contemporary approach used in Christian Psychotherapy that arises from a specific personal and spiritual experience under the supervision of a spiritual father—psychotherapist. It enables productive and meaningful overcoming of stress, as well as of the process of suffering, on a personal and wider social level, developing an adaptive social response and effective functioning. This is a descriptive study of the applied FCP method. It consists of five control points based on the Christian spiritual practice (acceptance, thanksgiving, self-discernment, quiescence and prayer). In the classical approaches, dealing with stress occurs on a psychological level by activating the psychological defence mechanisms, the most common: suppression, denial, rationalization. With FCP there is a completely opposite reaction. The intrapsychic process and its dynamics shift in the domain of the spiritual self with phenomenon of positive transformation (metanoia). The FCP method stimulates a creative process of overcoming stress and suffering as a purposeful and useful integrated experience that enhances the capacity of existence by enabling further and continuous personal growth and development. The person maturing through this process is the unifying axis, the peacemaker and the pointer to the positive developmental direction in the family unit, the environment and the society as a wider context. The positive social impact of the concept can be observed by comparing the usual human behaviour and the behaviour of a person trained through the FCP method.

This inquiry explored the impact of breastfeeding on mothers’ transpersonal values. It acknowledged societal obstacles mothers’ experience when attempting to breastfeed and included 12 participants who had a breastfeeding experience that reflects the current recommendations by the World Health Organization (WHO), meaning six months of exclusive breastfeeding followed by a combination of breastfeeding and solid foods for at least two years. The study followed an Organic Inquiry design which allowed for the incorporation of elements of feminism and environmental responsibility. Participant stories were collected through semi-structured online interviews, and the data was analysed using thematic analysis. Participants felt that breastfeeding enhanced transpersonal qualities at a personal level and noticed that these gave rise to transformative action at a community level. Six themes were identified: Transpersonal self-concept, spiritual insights, interconnectedness, discernment, alignment with nature and transformative changes. All participants regarded breastfeeding as a transformative experience which contributed to a sense of alignment with the natural world. Participants insights suggest a congruence of transpersonal psychology’s current focus on social engagement and environmental protection and global breastfeeding support efforts carried out by the WHO.

Background: Health information-seeking behavior (HISB) of college students is of importance due to health information inconsistencies at a time when personal independence and concurrent personal health decision making may be increased. Currently, there is a dearth of research about the HISB of college students, especially from diverse backgrounds. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to identify and describe the sources college students use when engaging in HISB; and to explore associations between HISB and demographic factors. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted with undergraduate students at a diverse, public institution in New York City. The sample was drawn from an institutional social science research pool and asked to complete a survey on HISB. A total of 226 respondents completed the survey. Results: The believed accuracy of the information found online was positively correlated with related behaviors and beliefs. The number of followers on Instagram proved to be an important mediator of HISB of college students. The number of followers a health information provider has was fittingly positively correlated with the belief that social media is a helpful resource for health information r(233)=0.18, P=0.01. Students from families with two or more generations living in the United States accessed health professionals more frequently than students from one or less generation (χ2=8.107(2), P=0.017). Conclusion: Targeted educational programs designed to increase health information seeking skills, including discernment of information quality should be a priority for college students.

The scientific process of understanding natural phenomena such as evolution is an important tool for human progress, so it is good to know where it begins and where it ends, or where it leads. In this article, we put forward the observation that mysticism begins when, in understanding phenomena, we move into the intellectual realm of the unobservable and invisible material and personal life processes, which are interconnected in two ways. On the one hand, the material life processes, which can be contemplated mystically by means of scientific explanations, analogical models, and imagination, are the reason for the purposefulness of identities that are the fruit of personal processes. These are experts, professional and amateur scientists, and lay scientists who are attracted to identity precisely because of the material life processes in which they have an interest, enthusiasm, or passion. On the other hand, it is precisely their mental engagement with these material life processes through the mystical contemplation of the beautiful solutions to nature’s problems that makes them true since truth is classically conceived precisely as the correspondence between intellect and a thing. Discerning the truth of hypotheses, theories, mid-range theories, and meta-theories, however, requires humility at all levels because of the collective way of seeking truth. In this process of truth discernment, it is necessary to accept humbly that I may be wrong and that my neighbor may be right, which ultimately leads us to the mysticism of the Triune God’s merciful love.

Post-colonial Africa and its attendant challenges, including disillusionment during democratic dispensation and racial tensions among black and white people, constitute a problem that calls for interventions from all social actors. Theology, especially pastoral care, is challenged to broaden its vision and focus on health, healing, and human flourishing by adopting a public dimension. Thus, public pastoral care can emerge as a critical approach through which to make a meaningful contribution to fostering holistic personal care. This assumption prompts an examination of the place and role of pastoral care as a science and art of fostering social health and well-being. Public pastoral care practices are used to encourage, promote, and foster ‘coexistence’ and ‘being with’ other people in the same geographical spaces where tension and disillusionment exist. Using the South African lens, this article aims to pastorally address challenges emerging from post-colonial African public contexts by developing a public pastoral care approach. Pastoral care principles of empowerment care, prevention care, conversational care, and care by being with the other in shared spaces of coexistence are proposed.

The advent of the twentieth century brought with it a deep sense of historical discontinuity. The period confronted writers, artists and political players with an essential dilemma: how to revise personal perspectives in light of the new social, cultural and political contexts brought about by this rupture with the past. In this regard, Ernest Hemingway and Benito Mussolini are relevant exemplars. While this study does not concern itself with Mussolini’s journey from leftist socialist activist to fascism, it will examine Hemingway’s oft-forgotten early journalistic career and his growing political awareness, an undertaking for which Mussolini provides a pertinent touchstone. This evolving discernment eventually turned Hemingway into an avowed anti-fascist and provoked his bitter opposition to Mussolini’s policies. While Hemingway did not generally engage in protracted political discourse when young, as events in Europe took shape in the 1920s and 30s and fascism became a growing political force, the writer began to expatiate his opposition to it. His views appeared in diverse venues: private correspondence, poetry, a short story and journalistic work. This commitment to the values of democracy continued throughout the Spanish Civil War and World War II.

What is it to be wise? An online search for dictionary definitions of the word ‘Wisdom’ reveals the following example: “The ability to use your experience and knowledge in order to make sensible decisions or judgments” (Collins Cobuild English Dictionary, 2003). A second example is the following: “The ability to discern or judge what is true, right, or lasting; insight” (American Heritage Dictionary, 2009). As a final example: “Knowledge of what is true or right coupled with just judgment as to action; sagacity, discernment, or insight” (Dictionary.com, 2009). There are plenty of dictionaries to skim, but I believe these definitions pretty much sum up what people usually mean when they use the word ‘Wisdom’. The definitions highlighted above are not identical, of course. It might, for example, be sensible from the point of view of a jury wanting to go home to make a hasty and ill-considered decision about the defendant’s guilt, but does this make their action wise? In this example, the jury may indeed be acting wisely in their immediate personal interests but can we justifiably describe their behaviour as wise in a greater context?

Abstract Aesthetic education forms and develops a mental quality of the individual, namely, general receptivity to the world and life. It can be said, however, that aesthetic education includes a multiplicity of meanings, formative and educative in relation to personality. All this has a profound echo in the whole personality, whether at the emotional or behavioral level. Art touches and contributes to creating prints from which the later emotional pleasure, taste, artistic judgment and discernment on human values will develop. Emotion refers not only to the aesthetics but involves more often, ethics, behavioral preferences in choosing one or another conduct. Emotions enrich the register of artistic self-expression and complements the temperamental and the character profile of a person. Here we analyze these relevant issues in an experiment conducted at the “Elena Cuza” Primary School of Iasi, Romania. We also present the conclusions of Art Intervention in school for these students. Art intervention in school can become an affective-emotional aim in educator-student relationship and may have important, long term evolutionary consequences, referring to the achievement of personal ideals and efficiency of educational activity.

Using in-depth interviews, the study is concerned with how head teachers effectively use their professional status and personal charisma to create a cultural tie that links home and school as a matter of common values and responsibilities. The research sheds light on the nuanced strategies employed by the principal, emphasizing the cultivation of a normative framework for parental involvement in non-instructional governance matters while delineating clear boundaries. Additionally, the study elucidates the continual communication efforts undertaken to seek consensus, ultimately garnering support and affirmation from the parental community. Moreover, the analysis also describes continuous communication efforts that are aimed at finding consensus within a parental community thereby receiving support from it. This underscores the necessity for principals to navigate diverse and conflicting expectations within the competitive educational landscape, requiring discernment to establish a prioritized developmental sequence. Overall, the findings contribute to understanding the multifaceted role of principals in building collaborative partnerships with parents and adapting to evolving market-oriented educational landscapes.

The prevalence of cybercrime has emerged as a critical issue in contemporary society because of its far-reaching financial, social, and psychological implications. The negative effects of cyber-attacks extend beyond financial losses and disrupt people’s lives on social and psychological levels. Conventional practice involves cyber experts sourcing data from various outlets and applying personal discernment and rational inference to manually formulate cyber intelligence specific to a country. This traditional approach introduces personal bias towards the country-level cyber reports. However, this paper reports a novel approach where country-level cyber intelligence is automatically generated with artificial intelligence (AI), employing cyber-related social media posts and open-source cyber-attack statistics. Our innovative cyber threat intelligence solution examined 37,386 tweets from 30,706 users in 54 languages using sentiment analysis, translation, term frequency–inverse document frequency (TF-IDF), latent Dirichlet allocation (LDA), N-gram, and Porter stemming. Moreover, the presented study utilized 238,220 open-intelligence cyber-attack statistics from eight different web links, to create a historical cyber-attack dataset. Subsequently, AI-based algorithms, like convolutional neural network (CNN), and exponential smoothing were used for AI-driven insights. With the confluence of the voluminous Twitter-derived data and the array of open-intelligence cyber-attack statistics, orchestrated by the AI-driven algorithms, the presented approach generated seven-dimensional cyber intelligence for Australia and China in complete automation. Finally, the topic analysis on the cyber-related social media messages revealed seven main themes for both Australia and China. This methodology possesses the inherent capability to effortlessly engender cyber intelligence for any country, employing an autonomous modality within the realm of pervasive computational platforms.

The purpose of this study is to improve students' linguistic abilities in English through the Team Game Tournament (TGT) methodology. The driving force behind this inquiry stems from the less-than-ideal level of English proficiency detected among the eleventh graders of the science program at SMA Negeri 1 Malaka Barat throughout the 2022/2023 academic year. The study group consisted of 31 students enrolled in the grade eleven science program, part one. It is reasonable to assume that certain obstacles can be seen in efforts to increase linguistic talent, among them the utilization of linguistic competence for the purpose of social interaction and participation in recreational activities. The aim of this investigation is to evaluate the effectiveness of the fundamental approach used on the TGT platform with respect to students' linguistic proficiency in English. The aim of the inquiry was to evaluate the configuration of students enrolled in the Teams-Games-Tournament (TGT) curriculum. Utilization of multiple choice questions serves as a data collection method in the realm of the eleventh grade English course, especially with regard to Personal Correspondence subject matter. Initial and successive iteration of evaluations have the potential to provide in-depth discernment while scrutinizing student progress. The scientific findings from the student experiment showed a noteworthy increase from cycle I to cycle II, with a sizable jump from 58.06% to 93.55%. Empirical evidence suggests that involvement in TGT may have the capacity to enhance one's personal aptitude for understanding English. Eleventh graders of Science 1 SMA Negeri 1 West Malaka have succeeded in carrying out an innovative approach to English mastery pedagogy that is in line with the prescribed protocol.

Bisphosphonates have been increasingly used not only to treat bone diseases as well as conditions such as osteopenia and osteoporosis, but also in oncotherapy. The use of bisphosphonates induces clinicians to fear and care. These reactions are associated with controversy resulting from lack of in-depth knowledge on the mechanisms of action as well as lack of a more accurate assessment of side effects. Scientific and clinical knowledge disclosure greatly contributes to professionals' discernment and inner balance, especially orthodontists. Fear does not lead to awareness. For these reasons, we present an article that focuses on that matter. This article was adapted from different journals of different dental specialties, as mentioned on footnote. There is no scientific evidence demonstrating that bisphosphonates are directly involved with etiopathogenic mechanisms of osteonecrosis and jaw osteomyelitis. Their use is contraindicated and limited in cases of dental treatment involving bone tissue. Nevertheless, such fact is based on professional opinion, case reports, and personal experience or experiment trials with failing methods. Additional studies will always be necessary; however, in-depth knowledge on bone biology is of paramount importance to offer an opinion about the clinical use of bisphosphonates and their further implications. Based on bone biopathology, this article aims at contributing to lay the groundwork for this matter.

Humility is a key virtue in most religious traditions, and empirical evidence links it with healthy religious leader development. Psychological evaluation often forms part of the vocational discernment process for religious leaders. We evaluated development of the clinician-rated humility scale (CRHS) within the clergy candidate psychological evaluation context at a community mental health center in the United States. In Study 1, we examined inter-rater reliability of the CRHS using three methods across 10 calibration tests with clergy candidates (female = 1, male = 9; average age = 34.6 years). Combined convenience and comprehensiveness provided the best method for obtaining the highest agreement. In Study 2, we evaluated the internal and external factor structure of the CRHS using clergy candidates ( n = 70) receiving psychological testing (29% female, 70% male; average age = 34.5 years). A final six-item version of the scale showed acceptable model fit, with evidence of a unidimensional factor structure, good internal consistency, and theoretically consistent associations with correlates. The results suggested the CRHS tapped dimensions of caring for others, openness toward personal beliefs, and self-growth. This observer-rated humility scale holds potential in conjunction with self-report measures for use in clinical assessment and research on client humility.

An individual's behavior can be defined as a set of complex reactions of the body to internal and external stimuli. Case description: We present a case of a young adult student who, under the circumstances of an anomic environment, causes a female person multiple stab wounds to the cervical region. The patient has an addiction to virtual reality, personal psychiatric history of a depressive disorder, emotional and anxious behavioral disorders, as he was a regular cannabis user. The young man was attending an event where he was consuming alcohol and banned substances (Ecstasy), whose effect combined with antidepressants creates a virtual reality in which the individual has a particular mental state, having the impression that bystanders want to hurt him. Under the impulse of this state, the individual uses a bladed weapon and causes multiple wounds to the victim. The patient is examined in the psychiatric forensic examination commission to determine the discernment at the time of the act of violence and for recommendations regarding safety measures. Conclusion: The approach of hetero-aggression behaviour is based on three categories of causal factors, in a triune concept that implies the consequence of the interaction of the existential environment, with the personality structure of the young individual and with the circumstantial factors that precipitate the act.

This article concerns select aspects of social perceptions and categorizations of foreigners settling in Poland. The core of this work is an analysis of a series of qualitative interviews conducted with young, educated residents of Warsaw. Herein the authors draw attention to a significant change in the consciousness of Polish society: a recognition of the permanent presence of migrants in Poland as well as discernment of the sociocultural problems associated with that presence. In the eyes of our interlocutors, the past two decades have been a time in which the attitude of Poles towards incoming aliens has shifted. Influencing opinions have been personal or familial experiences of emigration, particularly after the 2004 accession of Poland into the European Union. Also affecting attitudes have been an immigration wave from Ukraine as well as the tangible consequences of the 2015 migrant crisis. On the one hand, all these factors together have caused Poland to be seen today as not only an emigration, but also an immigration country. On the other hand, these have also provoked a conscious classification of various categories of migrants with regards to their geographic and cultural background along with the roles they might possibly fill in this country.

This study aims to explore the influence of star-chasing culture on young people and corresponding strategies. To achieve this goal, a discussion on fan culture was carried out, and the comprehensive impact of popular culture on people's daily social life was studied as economic globalization, social informatization, and cultural diversification deepened. The star effect and the worship of star idols, as important forms of popular culture and carriers of dissemination, popularize popular culture and become an essential force. The worship of star idols, as a part of popular culture, promotes the connection and development between idols and fans, fans and fan culture, gradually entering the public's view. With the rapid development of new media, supported by capital and traffic, the youth lacks discernment, and the traditional fan culture has upgraded to a fan circle culture, which has caused many negative effects on teenagers, such as wasting time and energy, influencing personal cognition, leading to deviation in consumer attitudes, and hindering the formation of correct moral concepts. Fan circle culture not only brings negative influences but also brings psychological comfort to fans. Idols create a perfect image that fans love and transmit positive energy to them. Some fans take idols as examples and motivate themselves to become better people.

The physical presence of people with disability in the extent of the parish community is based on two main components: (I) activities undertaken by a priest to organize religious life, including those for people with disability, and (II) activities undertaken by people with disability within the parish community. The aim of the article is to answer the question: What is the importance of a priest in the context of the presence of people with disability in the church community? The empirical article is based on results of the nationwide qualitative research that was conducted among people with disabilities (using the FGI group interview; targeted group selection; the participants of the study were people with physical disabilities, deaf and hearing impaired, blind and visually impaired, and people with intellectual disabilities). The analysis of the data obtained allows us to put forward the thesis that the inclusion of people with disability in parish life is a consequence of a close, personal relationship with a priest who has at least basic knowledge of the physical, mental, and sometimes also intellectual capabilities of a faithful person with disability. The results obtained may constitute a contribution to pastoral discernment regarding the factors influencing the presence of people with disability in the Church community.

Digital literacy encompasses a wide range of skills, including managing risk and one’s online identity, accessing, organising, and presenting information, and interacting and connecting with others through the use of technology and systems. Proficiency in using novel technologies and discernment in selecting the best suitable tool for a given task are essential skills that will prepare students for the swiftly evolving digital workplace [Edith Cowan University]. The study’s goals were to find out how teachers feel about their own need for digital knowledge and creativity., as well as which tehsils have training in digital literacy and which tehsils don’t. Anyone in that tehsil who doesn’t know about digital literacy and its classes will need to be taught about them (JISC (2014). Functional skills are the transferrable knowledge and abilities in English, math, and ICT (information and communication technology) that enable people to function successfully, self-sufficiently, and with confidence in both their personal and professional lives (lead academy 2022). the capacity of pupils to handle informational problems in an information society by using digital technology, communication tools, and/or networks in an acceptable manner (Rockman, Smith, 2005). To investigate the relationship between digital literacy and functional skills, while examining the mediating role of ICT self-efficacy.to explore the interplay between digital literacy and functional skills, with a specific focus on understanding how ICT self-efficacy mediates this relationship. Looking into how digital learning tools and personal creativity can work together. The study was quantitative, and a questionnaire was used as the main tool. The population was made up of 1,000 teachers from area Kott Addu’s primary schools. A form was used to get quantitative data. The collected data was looked at by figuring out the percentages. In area Kott Addu, tests were done as a pilot. An expert’s view and Cronbach alpha were used to judge the questionnaire’s validity and reliability.

Objective: Choices and quality decisions made by consumers in relation to their healthcare have been associated with personal experience of those services, interpersonal engagement and reliance on third-party information, as well as the subsequent satisfaction with the service. The purpose of this research was to understand current information sources, determinants of quality discernment and decision-making factors by consumers in the Australian community in relation to healthcare. Method: Conventional content analysis research was undertaken in the form of a national telephone survey of 200 consumers. Open-ended questions were used to elicit information from the general community. Results: Reputation and other key interpersonal and structural elements are utilised in determining quality of healthcare services as well as in deployment as key factors in decision-making regarding use of healthcare services. While most respondents valued and used key information about provider relationships, outcomes performance and performance rankings, up to 20% of respondents did not know or could not identify ways in which they would assess and evaluate the quality of healthcare services. Conclusion: This research identifies that consumers use a range of information and advice relating to experience, interpersonal engagement and information from third-party sources. If healthcare providers develop clearer communications around their technical, procedural and conduct principles, consumers will be in a better position to evaluate reputation and make decisions about their healthcare needs and the health system.

This study examined the training of spiritual directors for the effective spiritual development of candidates for the priesthood at St. Paul's Major Seminary, Juba-South Sudan. The objectives of the study are: To explain how the current spiritual directors in St. Paul's Major Seminary acquire interpersonal skills for facilitating spiritual development of candidates to priesthood; to state what guides the current spiritual directors in St. Paul's Major Seminary in Juba, to arriving at right discernment that promotes the spiritual development of candidates to priesthood; to expose the personal experiences of spiritual life of current spiritual directors which promotes spiritual development of candidates to priesthood; and to suggest approaches that could promote training of spiritual directors for effective spiritual development of candidates to the priesthood. The study was anchored on James Fowler's theory of faith development 2005 Convergent parallel mixed method research design was used in this study. Quantitative data was analyzed descriptively and presented using tables and figures. Qualitative data was analyzed and presented in narrative form. The main findings suggest that it is important to train spiritual directors before their assignment. In the formation houses, in order to equip them with the needed skills to help the candidates. In conclusion, the spiritual development of candidates to priesthood does not only depend on the training of spiritual directors, but also on the personality and experience of directors.

Synodality is a vital characteristic of the Catholic Church's life and mission, highlighting joint revitalization through listening, discernment, and active participation. Inspired by this concept, researchers started a study exploring the impact of the "Service of Light," a catechetical drama observed during Easter vigil, on local parishioners within the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia in the Philippines. Employing an exploratory and qualitative approach, the researchers examined the denotative and connotative meanings embedded in images and narratives surrounding this ritual, using Roland Barthes' semiotic model for analysis. The study involved visiting five local Catholic parishes within the archdiocese, conducting purposive sampling for survey interviews, and gathering visuals. Results uncovered meaningful impacts of the Service of Light on the integral Christian education and spiritual edification of the parishioners. The catechetical drama served as a powerful teaching tool that deepened the parishioners’ understanding of Christian doctrine. It helped develop a sense of belonging within their faith community. Moreover, the Service of Light generated spiritual renewal and strengthened individual faith. The ritual's symbolism aroused a deeper connection with God, empowering parishioners to live out their faith more fully in daily life. The Service of Light was acknowledged as a tool of faith that continues to inspire the parishioners to bear fruit for years to come. In conclusion, the study underscores the significance of the Service of Light in parishioners' Christian education and spiritual journey, emphasizing its role in fostering community, deepening understanding of faith, and inspiring personal and communal growth. As a recommendation, the researchers are suggesting future research to explore the perspectives of ordained clergy for a comprehensive understanding of its impact on Christian communities.
