Повний текст джерелаThe tire is heavily involved in the performance of a vehicle. Vehicle's fuel consumption (rolling resistance, aerodynamics), noise, comfort, handling and safety are related to the tire chosen. By using objective measurements, it is possible to predict some of those features but for some others like handling we cannot really predict the subjective evaluation made by experienced test drivers. Trial/error methodology is sometimes applied to identify tire potential and to gauge the tire performance related to specific designs and mechanical characteristics.Today, in the automotive industry, the evaluation of vehicle and tire handling performance is still largely performed on a subjective basis by experienced test drivers. This is justified by the fact that customer perception of vehicle performance is also made subjectively and, no reliable relationship has been found to relate objective performance measures to the human perception of performance.An extensive literature review on the objectification of subjective assessment, the vehicle-driver interaction, the vehicle dynamics simulation and the explorative multivariate data analysis as well as statistical hypothesis testing is the first research step aimed to investigate the methodologies, the data analytics and statistical tools used by other researchers.Based on the literature review, the thesis proposes a methodology that allows to translate subjective evaluations into objective metrics (vehicle environment as well as vehicle-tire environment) enabling the prediction of the outcome of a subjective test by using objective measurements leading to a reduction of the iterations during the tire development process. The choice of the most relevant vehicle dynamics model’s complexity depicts the main tire mechanical features affecting the handling performance and their effect on the objective metrics of interest. Specific experimental vehicle dynamics maneuvers have been selected for this study with the aim of unpacking the complexity of the subjective handling assessment without being simplistic and paying attention to interconnectedness of the different variables and their interplay with contextual factors.In the frame of the above-mentioned correlation study, the role of the driver in the driver-vehicle system is investigated. The results presented show that, with the chosen methodology, it is possible to gain insights on the driver’s testing strategy identifying the main vehicle responses affecting all the stages of the subjective evaluation. To deepen and strengthen the understanding of the driver’s role, two panel studies involving professional and non-professional drivers have been carried out. Those allowed the study and analysis of the vehicle-driver interaction in terms of proprioception and vision, audio-visual influences and aftereffects in motion

Повний текст джерелаThis thesis concerns the improvement of brushless DC motor performance, called Brushless motor (BLDC), and of an electric vehicle using this type of motor (BLDC) for its propulsion. The aim of this thesis is to provide new methods dedicated to the reduction of problems concerning this type of engine and thus increase its efficiency to achieve a lower electric vehicle energy consumption. This is done while taking into account the different parameters that come into consideration when rolling a vehicle, namely the resistive forces such as aerodynamic forces, rolling, slope, and acceleration. An experimental platform was thus implemented and on which the elaborated methods were implemented and proved after the analysis of the analytical and simulation results. These were developed on the MATLAB / Simulink environment. The proposed methods deal with problems related to current ripple, current peaks, and also the appropriate control mode for increased efficiency

Повний текст джерелаElectromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Radiofrequency (RF) constraints in the automotive industry are particularly stringent and require the implementation of methodologies that cover the entire project’s development throughout the design phase. In order to predict the installed performance of products in their operational environment, we developed actions that cover the coupling risks between components and their surroundings, these couplings having an impact on both EMC and functional aspects of RF systems. The main difficulty in designing RF equipments is that the specification, which means the final requirement, is described in relation to the whole vehicle. But during the development phase of a new product, the vehicle is often unavailable, or practically doesn’t exist yet. Furthermore, accelerating the development of vehicles allows less to wait for the final implementation, to be able to tune the product to its environment. A reason that pushes us to develop tools adapted to those needs. This thesis proposes a simulation methodology to predict the behavior of RF receivers taking into account their operational environment. The first chapter is devoted to a panel drawing up the generalities of antennas, the state of the art in system integration and a brief description of numerical methods. Then, the second chapter is devoted to the "detuning" phenomena, where we list, through an experimental approach, the parameters causing the detuning of an antenna. In order to obtain a predictive tool, we model the equipment using a circuit approach, to better quantify these parameters and to propose design rules in the early phases of projects development. Finally, the third chapter is devoted to the radiation analysis. It plans to expand the use of numerical simulation to predict the radiation patterns of RF devices. In this context, we propose a simplified model of an antenna that can be easily integrated at vehicle level

Повний текст джерелаThe work presented in this manuscript takes part in the context of driving simulation and more specifically in the one of dynamic driving simulators used for the validation of advanced systems and the autonomous vehicle. In order to address the issues of performance and motion perception, we have presented different approaches to improve the Motion Cueing Algorithms (MCA). All our studies show that the model predictive control (MPC) strategy is the best choice to MCA on high-performance driving simulators. Indeed, compared to other strategies, it allows to better take advantage of the workspace without endangering the simulator and/or the driver. However, in this MCA, the real-time optimization and the perception model must be guaranteed in order to improve the driver's immersion in the virtual environment. Therefore, we compared different techniques to solve constrained optimization problems. We proposed a based optimization technique, which provides an intuitive and fast solution to the MPC constrained optimization problem. Finally, we established recommendations for MCA parameterization according to the self-declared driving behavior allowing a better perception of motion in a driving simulator, in interactive driving and in autonomous mode

Повний текст джерелаLa méthodologie proposée, nous permet d'engager des négociations entre les architectes de l'automobile et les ingénieurs mécaniciens sur le respect ou le non-respect de contraintes d'architecture d'un sous-système ou d'un organe, ainsi que sur l'atteinte des cibles du cahier des charges en ce qui concerne les performances vibro-acoustiques.
Le cadre méthodologique proposé se compose de cinq étapes : (1) la modélisation du problème de conception, comprenant (a) la modélisation des performances vibro-acoustiques et (b) la modélisation des contraintes d'architecture (2) la métamodélisation (approximation mathématique) du problème de conception résultant en utilisant les métamodèles de type kriging, (3) la formulation du problème de conception sous la forme d'un problème d'optimisation multi-objectifs, (4) la génération grâce au métamodèle de la frontière de Pareto de ce problème d'optimisation multi-objectif par la méthode des contraintes normales et normalisées, (5) une étape de négociation entre les contraintes d'architecture et les performances du sous-système mécanique.
Pour gérer le problème des contraintes d'architecture, dans la phase de conception préliminaire, nous introduisons une méthode pour exprimer, par un critère dit d'architecture, le respect ou le non-respect des contraintes géométriques. L'originalité de cette méthode consiste dans le fait de migrer l'étape de l'allocation de volumes enveloppes sous un système de CAO vers un système d'IAO plus accessible aux ingénieurs puisque c'est dans ce système qu'ils gèrent leurs modèles éléments finis.
Nous introduisons, en outre, une méthode d'agrégation des performances vibro-acoustiques d'un sous-système mécanique en un seul critère (indicateur) à valeur réelle. Cette technique permet une réduction efficace de la dimension importante d'un problème de conception lié à l'étude d'un sous-système mécanique avec des multiples performances vibro-acoustiques.
L'application de la méthodologie à un cas d'étude, dans le domaine automobile, a permis de démontrer son efficacité à améliorer sensiblement les performances vibro-acoustiques d'une caisse en blanc (caisse nue d'une automobile) tout en respectant des contraintes d'architecture serrées à cause d'un volume enveloppe alloué au groupe motopropulseur du véhicule.
Finalement, avec ce cadre méthodologique, les négociations entre les architectes et les ingénieurs ne sont plus fondées sur des jugements qualitatifs, mais elles sont à présent fondées sur des critères quantitatifs à la fois pour les contraintes d'architecture et les performances mécaniques.

We propose some new evaluation methods of FM systems on board in end-using conditions. The original approach is based on the association of the intrinsic performances of the radiating element on vehicle with the final mobile communication environment. Повний текст джерелаThis PhD thesis is dedicated to the performance analysis of Cooperative Adaptive Cruise Control (CACC) system for intelligent vehicle platoon with the main aims of alleviating traffic congestion and improving traffic safety. At first, the Constant Time Headway (CTH) spacing policy for vehicle platoon is introduced. Based on this spacing policy, a novel decentralized Two-Vehicle-Ahead CACC (TVACACC) system is proposed, in which the desired acceleration of two front vehicles is taken into account. Then the string stability of the proposed system is theoretically analyzed. It is shown that by using the multiple wireless communication among vehicles, a better string stability is obtained compared to the conventional system. Vehicle platoon in Stop-and-Go scenario is simulated with both normal and degraded communication.Secondly, a graceful degradation technique for CACC was presented, as an alternative fallback strategy when wireless communication is lost or badly degraded. The proposed strategy, which is referred to DTVACACC, uses Kalman filter to estimate the preceding vehicle’s current acceleration as a replacement of the desired acceleration. It is shown that the performance is maintained at a much higher level.Finally, a Reinforcement Learning (RL) approach of CACC system is proposed. The policy-gradient algorithm is introduced to achieve the longitudinal control. Then simulation has shown that this new RL approach results in efficient performance for CACC

Повний текст джерелаThe emergence of electrical motor vehicles en the French and/or Worldwide fleet stands for a real change in the automotive. Renault made the choice to initiate this change by reducing considerably the constraints linked to this kind of vehicle. One of these major constraints is the batteries loading duration; the other is their autonomy. Renault wants to establish some fast load devices allowing to reduce the loading duration to fifteen linutes approximately. For this, very high electrical powers must pass throuh the batteries, thus generating high heat losses. Considering these thermal stresses while minimizing the size, the cost of the cooling devices, and maximizing their life and safety, classical cooling solutions, such as gaseous or liquid convection, seem to be less suitable than other innovative solutions, such as cooling two-phase thermal spreaders. A two-phase heat spreader has thereby been designed in the context of this thesis in order to respond to this application. An experimental bench has been set-up in order to study the performances of the spreader, and to analyse its operations and distinguish the first order influence of several parameters. To assist this analysis, some specific hydraulic and thermal model approaches have been carried on. Finally, a demonstrator has been produced within the buildings of Renault, dedicated to the cooling of a four batteries pack by means of two heat spreaders. The experimental results are encouraging and permit to conceive the development of two-phase heat spreaders in this industrial sector

Повний текст джерелаThe State Of Charge (SOC) estimation is a significant issue for safe performance and the lifespan of Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries, which is used to power the Electric Vehicles (EVs). In this thesis, the accuracy of SOC estimation is investigated using Deep Recurrent Neural Network (DRNN) algorithms. To do this, for a one cell Li-ion battery, three new SOC estimator based on different DRNN algorithms are proposed: a Bidirectional LSTM (BiLSTM) method, Robust Long-Short Term Memory (RoLSTM) algorithm, and a Gated Recurrent Units (GRUs) technique. Using these, one is not dependent on precise battery models and can avoid complicated mathematical methods especially in a battery pack. In addition, these models are able to precisely estimate the SOC at varying temperature. Also, unlike the traditional recursive neural network where content is re-written at each time, these networks can decide on preserving the current memory through the proposed gateways. In such case, it can easily transfer the information over long paths to receive and maintain long-term dependencies. Comparing the results indicates the BiLSTM network has a better performance than the other two. Moreover, the BiLSTM model can work with longer sequences from two direction, the past and the future, without gradient vanishing problem. This feature helps to select a sequence length as much as a discharge period in one drive cycle, and to have more accuracy in the estimation. Also, this model well behaved against the incorrect initial value of SOC. Finally, a new BiLSTM method introduced to estimate the SOC of a pack of batteries in an Ev. IPG Carmaker software was used to collect data and test the model in the simulation. The results showed that the suggested algorithm can provide a good SOC estimation without using any filter in the Battery Management System (BMS)

The first part is devoted to the modeling of lithium batteries with an equivalent electric circuit model, whose parameters could be identified using linear characterization tests. The second part is dedicated to the study of aging, and results in an aging estimator using data collected from accelerated aging tests programs. Then the postal usage is studied, and a power profile representative of the actual load on the battery is provided. The latter was used to validate the model of the battery in the field of postal use. Then the postal use is studied, and a current profile representative of the real behavior of the battery is provided. This profile was used to validate the model of the battery in the postal use domain. Then a model of electric vehicles is presented, it integrates the battery model, which can simulates the aging state of the battery using the ageing estimator. Finally, the various possible strategies of recharge are listed and compared, which leads to conclusions about their influences on aging of batteries, and the vehicles performance

Повний текст джерелаFast charging of batteries is a major challenge for the development of electric vehicles. A deployment of high power chargers is underway. These high power levels motivate research on batteries, with the aim of significantly reducing their charging times.For a battery cell of given characteristics, the charging power is limited by electrical, thermal and lifetime considerations. This thesis then wishes to make a contribution to the reduction of the charging time, by taking a numerical approach including modeling, simulation and optimization. It also compares 4 cell references of different materials and different energy densities.First, models of the electrical, thermal and aging behavior of a cell are developed separately, then coupled. In a systematic way, the models are presented, their calibration procedures are described, and they are compared with experimental data. Particular attention is paid to the effect of high current regimes under different thermal conditions. This made it possible to extend their respective domains of validity.Then, an accelerated aging campaign is carried out on 3 cell references. It compares the effect of the charging current, the end-of-charge voltage and different thermal conditions on the degradation, within the framework of a reference charging protocol. The results made it possible to identify several strategies for reducing the charging time, regarding the choice of a cell reference, thermal management, and the optimization of the charging protocol.This last strategy is finally studied. A method of definition of a charge protocol, containing several stages of constant current, is developed based on numerical optimization. The method makes uses the electro-thermal model implemented. It is then used to define 5 optimized charging protocols which are subjected to accelerated aging tests. The degradation is compared to that observed for the reference charging protocol. Under comparable conditions with the reference protocol, the optimized protocols make it possible to reduce the charging time and/or the degradation

La méthodologie est générale et se base sur l'optimisation sous contraintes. Elle intègre l'utilisation de différents niveaux de granularité au sein du modèle de conception. Une interface a été développée afin d'appliquer aisément cette méthodologie à des cas pratiques variés. Deux objectifs ont été traités, le premier concerne la définition des cahiers des charges des composants, le deuxième concerne la conception détaillée d'un composant de la chaîne de traction en prenant en compte l'ensemble du système. Ces applications mettent en évidence les avantages de la méthodologie proposée et l'importance de l'approche systémique.
