In June 2016, a US Department of Labor rule extending minimum wage and overtime pay protections to home care workers such as certified nursing assistants and home health aides survived its final legal challenge and became effective. However, Medicaid officials in certain states reported that during the intervening decades when these protections were not in place, their states had developed a range of innovative services and programs providing home care to people with disabilities—services and programs that would be at risk if workers were newly owed minimum wage and overtime pay. In this article, we examine whether the Department of Labor was right to extend these wage protections to home care workers even at the risk of a reduction in these home care services to people with disabilities. We argue that it was right to do so. Home care workers are entitled to these protections, and, although it is permissible under certain conditions for government to infringe workers’ occupational rights and entitlements, these conditions are not satisfied in this case.

Background Home Internet of Things (IoT) services and devices have the potential to aid older adults and people with disabilities in their living environments. IoT services and devices can also aid caregivers and health care providers in conveniently providing care to those in need. However, real-world data on the IoT needs of vulnerable people are lacking. Objective The objective of this study is to conduct a face-to-face survey on the demand for IoT services among older people and people with disabilities, their caregivers, and health care providers in a real-world setting and to see if there are any differences in the aspects of need. Methods We conducted a face-to-face survey with 500 participants between January 2019 and March 2019. A total of 300 vulnerable people (200 older adults aged ≥65 years and 100 physically disabled people aged 30-64 years) were randomly sampled from either a population-based, prospective cohort study of aging—the Aging Study of Pyeongchang Rural Area (ASPRA)—or from the outpatient clinics at the Asan Medical Center, Seoul, South Korea. Simultaneously, their caregivers (n=150) and health care providers (n=50) participated in the survey. Detailed socioeconomic status, digital literacy, health and physical function, and home IoT service needs were determined. Among all commercially available IoT services, 27 services were classified into five categories: emergency and security, safety, health care, convenience (information), and convenience (operation). The weighted-ranking method was used to rank the IoT needs in different groups. Results There were discrepancies in the demand of IoT services among the vulnerable groups, their caregivers, and health care providers. The home IoT service category that was required the most by the vulnerable groups and their caregivers was emergency and security. However, health care providers indicated that the safety category was most needed by the older adults and disabled people. Home IoT service requirements differed according to the different types of disabilities among the vulnerable groups. Participants with fewer disabilities were more willing to use IoT services than those with more disabilities. Conclusions Our survey study shows that there were discrepancies in the demand of IoT services among the vulnerable groups, their caregivers, and health care providers. IoT service requirements differed according to the various types of disabilities. Home IoT technology should be established by combining patients’ priorities and individualized functional assessments among vulnerable people. The article presents the results of the study of recommendations both for the rehabilitation of citizens, recognized primary and re-examination as disabled patients in the Russian Federation (2014). A positive result of the implementation of individual rehabilitation program was achieved in 45.1% of persons with disabilities, with the most significant recovery rates being at the level of 51.7% (integration of disabled persons in the family and society) and 50.8% (achievement of a partial compensation of lost functions). Disturbed functions were partially restored in 28.6% ofpersons with disabilities. As a result of the analysis of questionnaires of the evaluation tool (308forms), performed in the Care Home of Labor Veterans number 17, the Department of Labor and Social Protection of Moscow, there was revealed the medical and social status of persons with disabilities staying in this institution. The gender structure ofpersons with disabilities is characterized by a slight predominance ofwomen (59.7%) versus 40.3% of men. Among of all persons with disabilities there are dominated people aged of 75-89 years (51.9%). In the implementation of the comprehensive rehabilitation of disabled patients the need in drug therapy accounts of 100%, in the physiotherapy treatment - 89.6%, and physical therapy methods are used in 99.4% ofpersons with disabilities. With bearing in mind medical indications there are applied methods of socio-environmental, social and domestic, socio-psychological, sociocultural (art therapy, library therapy and adaptive physical education). For the creation of a barrier-free environment patients with disabilities are provided with the technical means of Rehabilitation. At the end of 2014 16.0 thousand people stand on the waiting list for the admission in stationary social care institutions for adults in the Russian Federation. With taking into account of demographical situation of an aging of the population and the gain in the demand for stationary establishments [2] intended for living of the older generation of people who cannot take care of themselves independently and need constant assistance, the further development of the social service system is feasible and has an important medical health value.

Vulnerable people constitute the majority of referrals to occupational therapy services, due to age and social, psychological and economic circumstances. People with learning disabilities may fit all these categories. An argument has been put that vulnerable people should not be subjects in research (de Raeve 1994) and that there may be unacceptable risks in being a subject in a socially sensitive research project (Barnitt and Partridge 1999). However, avoiding research with people with learning disabilities would mean that the voice of these clients would not be heard and it is known that they have expressed the wish to be consulted and involved in research (Atkinson 1989). A collaborative study was carried out with eight adults with learning disabilities who lived in a community residential home. Interviews were completed which dealt with aspects of intimate relationships. Three themes emerged from the interviews: the experience of intimate relationships, the future of a current relationship and the involvement of others in relationships. The findings showed that the people interviewed had a generally positive experience of such relationships. However, while the attitudes of staff and family towards intimate relationships were mostly empowering, some negative views still existed. The results have implications for occupational therapists working with people with learning disabilities.

Background: Surveillance technology such as tag and tracking systems and video surveillance could increase the freedom of movement and consequently autonomy of clients in long-term residential care settings, but is also perceived as an intrusion on autonomy including privacy. Objective: To explore how clients in residential care experience surveillance technology in order to assess how surveillance technology might influence autonomy. Setting: Two long-term residential care facilities: a nursing home for people with dementia and a care facility for people with intellectual disabilities. Methods: Ethnographic field study. Ethical considerations: The boards representing clients and relatives/proxies of the clients were informed of the study and gave their written consent. The clients’ assent was sought through a special information leaflet. At any time clients and/or proxy were given the option to withdraw from the study. The research protocol was also reviewed by a medical ethics committee. Findings: Our findings show a pattern of two themes: (1) coping with new spaces which entailed clients: wandering around, getting lost, being triggered, and retreating to new spaces and (2) resisting the surveillance technology measure because clients feel stigmatized, missed the company, and do not like being “watched.” Conclusion: Client experiences of surveillance technology appear to entail a certain ambivalence. This is in part due to the variety in surveillance technology devices, with each device bringing its own connotations and experiences. But it also lies in the devices’ presupposition of an ideal user, which is at odds with the actual user who is inherently vulnerable. Surveillance technology can contribute to the autonomy of clients in long-term care, but only if it is set in a truly person-centered approach.

The presence of a child with disabilities is a powerful stressor for his parents, leading to a serious adjustment disorder. Based on a theoretical analysis of the main approaches to the phenomenon of psychological personality resilience, the resilience of parents raising children with disabilities is considered as a subject resource that provides positive adaptation and full-fledged life activity in spite of adverse living conditions. Resilience is characterized by a combination of social and intrapsychic processes that allow a person to be healthy and live a full life in an unfavorable environment. The ability of parents raising children with disabilities to cope with an adverse life situation is influenced by many factors: state policy in relation to this category of people, the media, public moods, school, social institutions, and interactions with people, family dynamics and resilience resources, stress factors, socio-economic characteristics of the family. The main characteristics of the resilience of parents raising children with disabilities are: the possibility of self-expression, general involvement, openness, awareness, a harmonious relationship between caring for the child and the need for attention of other family members. Despite difficult life circumstances, parents raising children with disabilities can find resources to adapt positively to the stress they experience. There are recommendations for certain actions, psychological intervention programs for the development of resilience in such families. In psychological practice, in a situation where a family has a child with disabilities, all attention and care is given to him.

Introduction: The population life expectancy has increased (“over half the EU’s population predicted to be over-65 by 2070”), according to recent prevalence studies, being a result of the advancement of technology and medical science. This aging population has implications for society because there is increased number of older people requiring better quality of life. Materials and Methods: AAL represents the systems that may support completely the living area of a person and has the potential to facilitate the elderly to live longer and more safety in their family environments, allowing them to continue their current activities, facilitating participation in more activities at home and in the community and improving the cost-effectiveness, the quality of health and social services. A practical use of technology is the introduction of home networks, which involve notions such as: "smart homes ", “tele-health / tele-care” and even, possibly, “tele-medicine” to allow people with serious illnesses / conditions / and special needs to maintain an appropriate quality of life (QOL) at home. Discussions and Conclusions: AAL can contribute to an increased autonomy, self-confidence and mobility in people whose activity is limited to home environment, such as "the oldest olds” and/ or those with severe neuro-/ loco-motors disabilities, and so to reduce the risk of institutionalization, enhance security, prevent social isolation, thus allowing “older adults to age in place”. An important role in achieving this goal is representing by working in a multidisciplinary team (experts in the field of health - rehabilitation, gerontology -, social experts, technical/ informatics experts, engineering and robotics experts). Background Home injuries are an important cause of morbidity and mortality in high-income countries. In Sub-Saharan Africa, including Cameroon, many people live in unplanned settlements with poorly constructed houses, predisposing them to home injuries. However, little is known about the epidemiology and care-seeking behaviors of the domestically injured. In this study, our objective was to determine the epidemiology and care-seeking behaviors of home injuries in the Southwest Region of Cameroon. Methods A sub-analyses of a larger descriptive cross-sectional community-based study on injury epidemiology in the preceding 12 months was conducted. Sampling was done using three-stage cluster sampling technique. Differences between groups were evaluated using Chi-squared and Adjusted Wald tests. Results Of 8065 participants, 157 suffered home injuries giving an incidence of 19.6 (16.8–23.0 95% CI) cases per 1000-person years. Home injuries comprised 31.2% of all 503 injuries and affected more females (60.8%) and younger individuals (mean age (SE) 25.1 years (2.0)) than non-home injuries. The most common activity and mechanism of home injury was leisure/play (51%) and falls (37.9%) respectively. Amongst those with home injuries, 37.6% did not seek care from any care provider (versus 25.0% of non-home injuries, p = 0.004) and were more likely to seek treatment within the family or at home (p = 0.008) or at church (p = 0.010). Those with home injuries experienced a median of 14 disability days and 22.9% of families faced difficulties affording basic expenses (p = 0.001). Conclusion Home injuries comprise about a third of the Southwest Region of Cameroon’s burden of injury and likely have a profound socioeconomic impact. Though these injuries cause severe disabilities, a large proportion of victims do not seek care from providers. Prevention efforts should address the design of homes and victims of home injury should be encouraged to utilize formal care services.

The role of the family in providing care is a historical and culturally rooted practice in Sri Lanka. Regardless of ethnicity, people are devoted to protecting the family; the most loving and warm nest for many people to spend their lifetime. Caring for people with disabilities and caring for elders have been an embedded practice in the Sri Lankan family system, however, due to rapid economic and socio-cultural changes a shift in the caring tradition has been observed. This study, therefore, aimed to explore the current informal caring practice among Sinhalese people with disabilities and elders. The study has focused on the care, cultural aspects of the care, social organizations, and the organized structure to provide care. In addition, social relations of care and the community support and assistance to provide care at the community level were also studied. The study was conducted in the Hapugoda No: 405 Grama Niladari Division in the Harispattuwa Divisional Secretariat of the Kandy District and the findings derived from the study are used to identify the significance of the informal care and the care providers, challenges faced by the care providers and the opportunities to enhance the informal care provisions in Sri Lanka.

Medical rehabilitation is a multi-professional / interdisciplinary process aimed at enhancing and restoring functional ability (activity and participation) and quality of life to people with im-pairments or disabilities. Rehabilitation is applied throughout the continuum of care. COVID-19 patients may develop a myriad of acute medical problems (linked to the virus per se, or as con-sequences of the invasive procedures), which can cause acute, post-acute and long-term conse-quences requiring rehabilitation. Information about short and long-term sequelae of COVID-19 indicate an increasing need for rehabilitation. The paper is focused on two main aspects: rehabil-itation of the severe neurological disabilities that occurred during the acute phase and continu-ing in the chronic phase (i.e., different neurological sensory-motor and cognitive deficits sec-ondary to stroke, encephalitis, seizures, encephalopathies). The other main issue is generated by the disruption of regular rehabilitation in people with neurological disabilities and chronic dis-eases (people living with sequels after stroke, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis) due to quarantine, social isolation, movement restriction, and other healthcare systems ’disruptions. Methods Internet literature search (Lit Covid and PubMed) using the following keywords (Covid-19, Coronavirus, neurological complications, rehabilitation). During 2020-2021 were published 88 papers (in 2020 = 54, and in 2021= 54), with 21 reviewes (2020 = 15; 2021 = 8), and 2 systematic reviews, refearing neuroreabilitation in Covid-19 subacutre and long-term cas-es. Discussion REH-COVER Cochrane Rehabilitation WHO initiative (“Rapid Living Systematic Reviews Second Edition, called 2020”), contains the main cornerstones for a tailored rehabilita-tion programme, the best (current) available rehabilitation evidence on recovery interventions, for the patients living with sequelae of COVID-19. Conclusions More than two years since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is obvious that rehabilitation services play a crucial role in post-COVID recovery trajectories. A further achievement of research and evidence focussed on the clinical management, comprehensive treatments, and efficacy need to be targeted on short and long-term (neuro)-rehabilitation service models of care, for COVID-19 survivors. At the current stage of the development of society the problem of social protection and state support for people with disabilities is particularly relevant and requires reform and improvement. Ukraine, as a country aspiring to join the European Union, should take into account the best foreign experience of the leading countries of the world in the field of state policy to support people with disabilities and its implementation. The process of reforming the national healthcare system demonstrated the ineffective policy in this area, the high level of corruption and the inability to transform this system to the level of world standards of medical care, especially for people with disabilities. The problem of disability in Ukraine is becoming particularly acute. The goal of this article is to investigate the system of economic means of state administration of the rights of people with disabilities to healthcare, to identify the areas of budgetary management and the formation of a new mechanism of economic administration. Scientific analysis was carried out by using the method of systematic approach and analysis, which enabled us to study theoretical aspects of economic methods of state administration of the right of people with disabilities to healthcare, formation of the budget management in Ukraine for the economic security of the rights to healthcare, and features of the new mechanism of the economic administration of the right of people with disabilities to health care. It has been researched that along with administrative methods of state management of the right to health protection of people with disabilities the economic group of methods is important. These include programs of economic development of health care, rehabilitation programs for people with disabilities, implementation of pilot projects to change the mechanism of financial support for operative treatment, etc. Methods of regulating influence (indirect management) are becoming increasingly important, and economical methods of management belong to them. Implementation ensures that the financial and material interests of the management objects are satisfied through the activities of its subjects, which create favorable conditions for achieving the goals and objectives of management. For example, local self-government bodies, within the limits of their competence, can finance local programs for the development and support of community healthcare institutions. In 2019, a new mechanism of rehabilitation support for children with disabilities was introduced based on the principle of "money follows the people", which should ensure targeting, transparency and improve the quality of rehabilitation services. Resources are divided vertically among regional bodies, which divide budgetary funds among local bodies in proportion to the number of children who require rehabilitation measures, according to the place of their residence (location). The national legislation also reflects the norms that created the conditions for the implementation of the right to work of people with disabilities, as well as ratified Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the ILO Convention on professional rehabilitation. From the point of view of the Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine, the funds allocated by the state are extremely insufficient for the uninterrupted functioning of the medical system. In its budget memorandum for 2021 the ministry has allocated twice as much – 296 billion UAH, 225 billion UAH of which for the implementation of the medical guarantee program (which is 5% of GDP, as required by the Law of Ukraine "On State Financial Guarantees of Medical Services to Population"). But the proposals of the Ministry of Health both at the time of formation of the state budget and at the time of its approval were not taken into account. The requirement of the Law of Ukraine "On State Financial Guarantees of Medical Services to the Population" for the establishment of financing of the program of medical guarantees at the level of 5% of GDP was lengthened for one more year.

The proportion of older people in the population increases and more and more continue living in their own homes. Appetite among the elderly people is important to their nutrition and health. The increased risk of unintended weight loss and malnutrition is linked to food distribution among home-living elderly people. The aim was to describe experiences and perceptions of what matters to appetite among home-living elderly people having food distribution. The design was qualitative where interview data were collected among 13 interviewees in 2017 to 2018. Data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. The results are presented in three domains: the food, the meal situation, and the adaptation to meal service with categories and themes responding to each domain. The six themes related to appetite among the elderly people concerned the following: eating tasty, savory, and culturally adapted food; eating healthy and sustainable food; eating alone or together with others; eating in a pleasant meal environment; having choices to make about the meal; and last, accepting disabilities and increased dependency. One conclusion is that many aspects should be taken into consideration when promoting appetites of people who also get food distribution. It is highly individual and an understanding of which aspects are relevant must be considered; consequently, person-centered care is suggested to promote appetite.

The purpose of the article is that its authors have attempted to identify the nature of different types of legal responsibility for the violation of specific socio-economic rights of people with disabilities. For this purpose, through the use of dialectical, comparative legal methods, grouping methods, documentary analysis and analysis, the theoretical-practical and legislative aspects of material (financial), administrative, civil, criminal and disciplinary responsibility for the violation of the rights of persons with disabilities to work, strike, rest, entrepreneurial activity, social protection and social security, housing, health care and rehabilitation and a number of other rights. As a result, specific examples of violations of the social and economic rights of persons with disabilities are given. Emphasis is placed on rare cases of violations of the right to reproductive health of persons with disabilities who wish to become parents, as well as those who are aware of the disability of an unborn child. In this context, the critical situation of persons with disabilities living in prisons, where they are effectively deprived of the right to create a family, is noted. A separate level of violations of the rights of people with disabilities is related to discrimination on the grounds of disability, which manifests itself in all spheres of life of representatives of this category of the population in relation to practically all rights provided for them at the legislative level. The article also mentions frequent cases of violation of the right to an adequate level of social security, to the provision of medicines, to education, to employment, to parking in specially designated places, to free travel on public transport, etc. In connection with such a situation, the institution of responsibility (administrative, civil, criminal, disciplinary and material) for the violation of socio-economic rights of people with disabilities functions. Its grounds and mechanisms of application are defined to varying degrees in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the Code of Administrative Offences of Ukraine, as well as the following laws of Ukraine: "On the Fundamentals of Social Protection of Persons with Disabilities in Ukraine", "On Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities in Ukraine", "On Liability for Offences in the Field of Urban Development" and other regulatory acts. The above conclusions are supported by a series of statistical data on the situation of accessibility of the environment for people with disabilities, their employment, the level of impoverishment of this category of the population, the protection of violated rights before the courts, etc. The value of the proposed article is reduced to the fact that it is a complex scientific work reflecting the author's view of the current state, problems and prospects for development of the field of legal responsibility for violation of socio-economic rights of people with disabilities.

Abstract Objective This study aimed to examine the urban-rural differences of unmet needs and their expected LTC services among community-dwelling old people. Methods The data comes from the Chinese Longitudinal Health Longevity Survey (CLHLS) in 2014. A total of 1587 community residents aged 65+ with disability of activities of daily life (ADL) were included in this study. Binary logistic regression was used to estimate correlates of unmet need in LTC. And chi-square test was used to examine the differences of expected community-based LTC services between urban and rural area. Results Over half (55.07%) of the participants reported their need were unmet. For both rural and urban residents, poorer economic status and reluctant caregivers (ORs>1, P<0.01) seriously affected the unmet need. Besides, of urban older adults, people who were male and lonely(ORs>1, P<0.05) reported more unmet need. While of rural old ones, people who were with severe ADL disability and poorer self-rated health(ORs>1, P<0.01) reported more unmet need. And people with available medication and home visit services(ORs<1, P<0.01) reported more met need. However, the supplies for community LTC care services were far below the demands. Conclusion The risk of having unmet need associated with ADL disabilities in LTC is largely determined by their economic status and caregivers’ willingness to provide care for both rural and urban old people. There is a need for an overall improvement in the planning, provision and financing of long-term care services for elderly individuals in China.

The urgency of the problem is due to the significant increase in recent years in the number of young and middle-aged people who have passed the war, the need to develop adequate measures of social assistance and protection. An important task in the organization of the rehabilitation process is to determine the structure of the needs of servicemen with disabilities in various types of medical and social care and the development of individual rehabilitation programs (IRP) based on them. The purpose of the study: to determine the structure of the needs of servicemen with disabilities in medical and social rehabilitation depending on the severity of disability. Statistical data from 25 administrative territories of Ukraine for 2018 are analyzed, the needs of participants of military service with disabilities in medical and social rehabilitation measures, their structure are calculated. The data of the information base of the centers and the bureau of medical and social examination of the regions were used. Processing of the primary material was performed using the universal statistical package "Excel". In 2018, medical and social expert commissions (MSEC) of Ukraine for the first time and re-certified and recognized persons with disabilities 7843 combatants. Of these, disability of group I (IA and IB) was established in 2.6 %, II – in 29.2 %, III – in 68.2 % of cases. All victims for MSEC were formed IRP. The dependence of the needs of combatants in medical and social rehabilitation measures on the severity of disability has been established. For persons with disabilities of groups II and III, priority is given to medical and professional rehabilitation, group I – social rehabilitation and technical means of rehabilitation with medical support. Of the medical rehabilitation services for persons with II and III groups of disability, sanatorium treatment is significant, and group I – rehabilitation therapy. Among vocational rehabilitation services, employment in production conditions is important – for persons with group III disabilities, in specially created conditions – for persons with group II disabilities, at home – for persons with group I disabilities. Vocational training was offered to a small number of people with disabilities of all groups. Among social rehabilitation services and technical means of rehabilitation, the services of social workers of territorial social service centers were significant for representatives of all disability groups, simpler means of transportation for persons of group III disability and more complex means for persons of group I. Determining the characteristics of the needs of servicemen with disabilities depending on its severity allows MSEC specialists to better form the IRP, develop targeted rehabilitation programs at the regional level, assess shortcomings in the organization of the rehabilitation process and build a rehabilitation system for combatants.

This article presents the application of a model for the Assessment of Telemedicine (MAST) for the evaluation of the effectiveness of integrated care services in the management of frail multimorbidity patients in the local health and social authority (LHSA) of Feltre, Italy. The assessment was carried out within the European project CareWell, whose aim was to improve and develop a better coordination among the social and healthcare professionals supporting patient centred delivery of care at home using ICT. The multidisciplinary assessment described in this article takes into account the description of the enrolled patients and the services implementation other than safety aspects, clinical effectiveness, patient perspectives, economic aspects, as well as organizational aspects and socio-cultural, legal and ethical aspects. In particular, the assessment results show that people belonging to the intervention group feel better looked after, professionals feel part of a team and the data sharing could lead to a better coordination and resources saving.

Abstract Economic analysis of the production, demand, and utilization of long-term services and supports (LTSS) can generate insights for public policy. This symposium presents a range of economics approaches to LTSS, with policy implications. The first paper considers in-home care as a production process, estimating the impact of various mixes of informal care and paid formal care on health outcomes. The two types of care, and their combination, contribute to different aspects of self-reported health. Paper Two uses the disruption of the pandemic to examine the productivity of an understudied resource in nursing home care provision: informal care by visiting family and friends. The finding that continuing resident interaction with informal caregivers reduced mortality should inspire future research on this valuable and understudied input into nursing home care. A third paper tracks rising wages for nursing staff wages and increasing use of contract nursing, fueled by workforce shortfalls. These trends have consequences for quality, worker attachment, and costs. An exogenous policy change raising the out-of-pocket price to some consumers of nursing home services in Germany enables the fourth paper to estimate elasticity of demand. Individuals with lower levels of need were more sensitive to rising prices than those with greater needs and fewer alternatives. The fifth paper examines the relationship of an Alzheimer’s diagnosis to individual health expenditures in Mexico and for persons of Mexican origin in the US. Cross-national comparisons and urban-rural differences suggest insights into how LTSS for cognitive disabilities may combine with health services in the two countries.

The paper proves the need to change approaches to personnel management in modern conditions, since there is a change in certain factors influencing the organizational behavior of employees of enterprises, namely: the number of people with disabilities is increasing in Ukraine, the labor potential of the social sphere is decreasing due to the mobilization and forced migration of specialists from various spheres of economic activity. It has been proven that it is also necessary, among other work with the personnel of enterprises based on the concept of sustainable development, to highlight as a separate component the formation of sustainable tolerance for people with disabilities, as well as laying the foundations for inclusive employment when concluding employment contracts with them. Inclusive employment should be understood as the process of employment of persons with disabilities. The executive and legislative power in Ukraine take care of employment of people with disabilities, but this initiative should be supported by business and the public. The objective of managers in this field is to develop staff development programs, which should include not only tools for employees to acquire professional and specialized competencies. Such programs should be aimed at forming a holistic view of both the technical and economic aspects of interaction in the process of realizing their knowledge and skills in order to achieve the goals of the organization, and about the social and environmental consequences of their behavior. Therefore, staff training and education should be carried out taking into account the latest scientific achievements in the field of sustainable development, in particular, in terms of encouraging ethical behavior of staff in relation to employees with disabilities.

Most people today associate social justice with the equality of all citizens before the law, a decent wage, a high level of social security for people with disabilities, equal access to health care, education, culture, and etc. We analyze value aspects of social justice and define the importance and role of values in human life. The substantive relationship between the concepts of value and well-being is studied. Important aspects of social justice such as: social, legal and political are discussed separately. The demand for social justice in modern Georgian society is analyzed. An assessment of the role of social justice in the development of society is given. Analyzing the value aspects of social justice, we would like to point out that social justice is the category and working tool by which we evaluate various social and political phenomena, adopted laws, results of ongoing reforms, socio-economic status of Georgia, social groups and classes, distribution of public good and etc.

Care coordination is the deliberate organization of patient care activities between two or more participants (including the patient) involved in a person’s care to facilitate the appropriate delivery of health care services. Organizing care involves the marshalling of personnel and other resources needed to carry out all required patient care activities. It is often managed by the exchange of information among participants responsible for different aspects of care [1]. With an estimated 85% of individuals with Spina Bifida (SB) surviving to adulthood, SB specific care coordination guidelines are warranted. Care coordination (also described as case management services) is a process that links them to services and resources in a coordinated effort to maximize their potential by providing optimal health care. However, care can be complicated due to the medical complexities of the condition and the need for multidisciplinary care, as well as economic and sociocultural barriers. It is often a shared responsibility by the multidisciplinary Spina Bifida team [2]. For this reason, the Spina Bifida Care Coordinator has the primary responsibility for overseeing the overall treatment plan for the individual with Spina Bifida[3]. Care coordination includes communication with the primary care provider in a patient’s medical home. This article discusses the Spina Bifida Care Coordination Guideline from the 2018 Spina Bifida Association’s Fourth Edition of the Guidelines for the Care of People with Spina Bifida and explores care coordination goals for different age groups as well as further research topics in SB care coordination.

AbstractThe abuse and neglect of older people in care homes is widespread across England, but current causative explanations are limited and frequently fail to highlight the economic and political factors underpinning poor care. Informed by social harm and state–corporate crime perspectives, this study uses ethnographic data gathered through a nine-month period of working in an older person’s residential care home to show how neglect is embedded in working routines. Three aspects of care are interrogated to reveal the embedded nature of harm in the home; all reveal the rift between official, regulatory rules and informal working practices shaped by material constraints of the labor process. This article explores the role of regulatory regimes in actively legitimizing sectors, such as the residential care industry, even in the face of routine violence, by bureaucratically ensuring the appearance of compliance with formal rules. While the harms of contemporary institutionalized care for older people have its roots in material conditions, performative compliance through regulation guarantees that these injurious outcomes are concealed. This article contends that malpractice (and harm) can be explained with reference to conjoint state–corporate relationships and practices.

An attempt to compare social services with each other and highlight common and distinctive features was made while analyzing them. Emphasis was made on the essence of each social service and the legal aspects of their providing. The features of social services as objects of the relevant legal relations were formulated. Care occupies a special place among the objects of social-supplying legal relations. Its types such as home care, inpatient care, day care, palliative care were considered. The author’s definition of social care service was given. The most characteristic features of this social service were singled out. Ways to improve the essence of some of them were suggested. Considerable attention was paid to the supported accommodation of the elderly people and people with disabilities, the homeless persons and transit supported accommodation. Critical remarks were made about the premises that would be allocated for supported accommodation, as well as about the legal status of persons who have expressed a desire to receive this social service. Social support is provided to families (persons) who are in difficult life circumstances, families raising biological and social orphans, individuals in employment and in the workplace. Physical support is provided to persons with disabilities. The article gives a brief description of all these types of social and physical support. Social services for providing temporary accommodation, social rehabilitation, information, counseling, mediation, advocacy, prevention, adaptation, integration and reintegration were highlighted in the article. Objectives: The increase in the aging population along with a variety of diseases and problems threatening their health and, on the other hand, socio-economic developments and changes in individual and family lifestyles, has increased the number of nursing homes. Considering the importance of the impact of living environment on various aspects of mental health, this study aimed to compare stress, anxiety and depression of the elderly living in nursing homes and those living at home. Methods & Materials: This is a descriptive comparative study with a cross-sectional design conducted in 2017. Using a convenience sampling method, 436 elderly people in Tehran including 218 home dwellers and 218 nursing-home residents were selected. Participants were evaluated through interview by the short-form version of Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21). Comparisons between the two groups were made using independent t-test in SPSS v.20 software. Results: Mean and standard deviation of the DASS-21 score in elderly residents of nursing homes (37.75±11.34) was higher than in home dwellers (26.68±5.64). There were statistically significant differences in stress, anxiety and depression between the two groups (P≤0.05). Conclusion: Stress, anxiety and depression in the elderly living in nursing homes are more than in those living at home. Family participation in providing welfare and mental health care, supporting with appropriate insurance coverage, establishing day care centers, and supporting family caregivers can be very helpful to enhance their mental health.

ABSTRACTThis study aimed to identify the facilitators and barriers to as well as the feasibility of Implementing Personalized Citizen Assistance for social participation (IPCA) in older adults with disabilities living in the community. The IPCA is a three-hour, weekly follow-up achieved by trained and supervised non-professional assistants that aims to increase engagement in social and leisure activities of people living with disabilities. An action research study was conducted with 16 people from the community. The adaptability of the IPCA, the presence of scientific evidence, the acknowledgement of a need for such an intervention, as well as expertise and collaboration, were the main facilitators in implementation of the IPCA. Meanwhile, funding, associated with an unfavorable political and economic context, was a barrier. Overall, the majority of the participants perceived that the IPCA could be offered in the community by volunteers. This new knowledge will facilitate the implementation of IPCA or other similar interventions.

Background: COVID-19 has caused great changes in all aspects of life which affected all people especially vulnerable groups such as children with disabilities (CWD) and their families. Objective: This study aimed to examine the challenges facing caregivers of CWD during the pandemic, and to explore these challenges from various physical, social, psychological, and financial aspects. Methods: A cross-sectional design was conducted in Palestine, a total of 130 caregivers of CWD completed a survey consisting of demographic and clinical characteristics questionnaire and the short version of the burden scale for family caregivers (BSFC-s) between March and May 2021. Results: Most of the caregivers were mothers (76.9%), the mean age of the children was (6.09 ± 3.43 years). The majority (88.5%) of the caregivers felt physically exhausted, about (75.4%) had decreased living standards, and (86.2%) indicated that caregiving is taking their strength. A high burden score was recorded, the mean BSFC-s score was 20.17 ± 5.57. Significant differences in BSFC-s scores were recorded based on the type of disability, and child’s ability to take care of oneself, P < .05. The total scores of the BSFC-s were positively correlated with the physical, social, psychological, and financial challenges facing the caregivers ( P < .001). Conclusions: COVID-19 has caused increased burdens on the caregivers of CWD and a negative impact on the child’s mobility accompanying a lack of access to health and rehabilitation services. Vital factors are to be considered in developing strategic health and rehabilitative plans for promoting better care for caregivers and their CWD during lockdown restrictions time.

In recent years, there has been an increase in knowledge about the barriers experienced by people with disabilities in the education system or sports. However, no studies have analyzed the barriers for those who try to succeed in both disciplines (dual career). The purpose of this study was to examine the barriers faced by student-athletes with/out disability to a dual career combining studies and sport. Two groups were involved in the study (n = 162): student-athletes with disabilities (n = 79) and student-athletes without disabilities (n = 83). Data collected included: (a) socio-demographic aspects; and (b) barriers towards achieving a good balance between sport and academics during the dual career, through the "Perceptions of dual career student-athletes" (ESTPORT) questionnaire. The results showed that student-athletes with disabilities were more likely to perceive in a greater extent the barriers, the university is far from my home (p = 0.007) and the university is far from my training site (p = 0.006), I find myself unable to balance study and training time (p = 0.030), I have to take care of my family (p<0.001), and my current job does not allow me to study enough (p<0.001). The MANOVA analysis showed that the factors gender, competitive level, and employment status had an influence on the perception of some barriers between groups. In conclusion, student-athletes with disabilities perceived barriers more strongly than those without disabilities, and measures are needed to ensure their inclusion in the education system.

There is a growing interest in developing a deeper level of understanding of the complex phenomena that make up the aging process. Efforts to pursue questions using a multivariate and ecologically valid approaches that include biological and behavioral factors have led to significant advances in our knowledge. This special issue presents a collection of papers that represent this “biobehavioral” perspective. Little is known concerning the biobehavioral aspects of Hispanic health and there is a dearth of systematic study of how individual biological factors interact with the environmental and cultural factors to affect health outcomes among the swiftly growing older population of Mexican origin, a subgroup of older minorities that exhibits unique morbidity and mortality patterns. The group of papers here represents important contributions to understanding the health consequences in later life for individuals of Mexican descent and addresses several areas of interest including but not limited to diabetes, cognitive impairment, metabolic syndrome, frailty, socio-economic status and contextual factors that impact health. The papers presented here use interesting and useful transdisciplinary approaches that increase our knowledge of health processes in older people of Mexican descent. This special issue also provides excellent examples of the critical linkages between biological variables broadly defined and traditional social stratification, social inequalities, and social justice and the ways in which they interact. The papers taken together suggest that the processes involved in aging and health are complex, particularly in people of Mexican descent, and requires the understanding of mechanisms at multiple causes and levels of analysis.

The aim of the article was, to present the situation of old people during the COVID-19 pandemic in Poland. The article has an illustrative character and is based on the available data. Authors starting from the presentation of basic demographic and epidemiological data, discussed such aspects of functioning of the elderly as, physical activity, economic, social, cultural and educational activity, and use of Internet resources, which were transformed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, isolation and protective measures such as distance, masks, handwashing and stay-at-home policies, and restrictions on congregation, have resulted in significant changes in the daily functioning of the old and have often led to increased social isolation, marginalisation and limited access to health care.

In the scientific research, the scientific interpretation of the concept of «social management» was studied and it was established that today social management is a logical continuation of evolutionary changes in scientific management theories, which reflect changes in the economy and the entire system of socio-economic relations in Ukraine. The author's interpretation of the concept of social management is proposed. The paper considered the history of the foundation of the Red Cross Society in Ukraine. The existing and adopted legal documents and acts, governing the activities of the Red Cross Society takes place on the territory of Ukraine, are described. It was established that since February 24, 2022, when the armed conflict in Ukraine escalated, the Ukrainian Red Cross Society promptly mobilized all forces and resources and began providing assistance to the affected population. Since February 24, 2022, volunteers and employees of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society have been working around the clock in different parts of Ukraine. The article describes the existing activities and analyzes the amount of assistance provided over the past 9 months in Ukraine. It is established that the Red Cross Society in Ukraine is engaged in the following activities: humanitarian aid, evacuation of the population, assistance to liberated cities, assistance to internally displaced persons, assistance at railway stations and border crossing points, assistance to vulnerable groups of the population. The article found out that the patronage service, founded in 1961, aims to provide free medical care, provide care and social and household services to lonely disabled senior citizens, people with disabilities, war and labor veterans, and also conduct educational and preventive programs among the population. The emphasis is placed on the study of such a direction of their activity as social assistance to vulnerable groups of the population (single or conditionally single people who need outside help, receive help with housekeeping, personal hygiene support, delivery of food and medicine purchases, house cleaning, etc.) – Project «Care at home».

Today, population aging is the main trend of population development. Home-based care is mainly adopted in Chinese society, and scholars have paid ample attention to the effect of intergenerational support on the mental health of older people. However, research conclusions differ. This study uses data from the 2018 China Health and Pension Tracking Survey (CHARLS), which we analyzed with STATA software to construct least squares regression and two-stage least squares regression models. The regression model included 6,647 respondents to investigate the mental health status of older people based on depression status. Intergenerational support was defined as economic support, emotional support, and daily care provided by the children of older people. We studied the impact of three aspects of intergenerational support on the mental health of the elderly. We performed a robustness test using the variable replacement and propensity score matching methods, and analyzed age, gender, and urban-rural heterogeneity. The results showed that economic support had no significant impact on the mental health of older people, while emotional support and daily care had a positive effect. The heterogeneity results indicated that the relationship between intergenerational support and mental health of older people differed significantly based on age, gender, and urban and rural areas. Therefore, children should raise their awareness of supporting their parents, pay attention to their parents’ mental health, and provide emotional support and daily care. Furthermore, community work improves family relations, creates a good social environment, and encourages young people to respect and be filial to older people. The government should improve the medical security system and old-age service system, and provide policy support to help the mental health of older people.

ABSTRACTIn recent years in Italy, population ageing, rising female labour-market participation, and the restructuring of the welfare state have combined to create increased demand for long-term care services for frail and dependent older people. The rising demand has increasingly been met by immigrant women of different nationalities, and to a lesser extent immigrant men, who are hired to provide individualised care in people's own homes and other private settings. While there have been many studies of this growing phenomenon, very little attention has been paid to the reasons that bring family care-givers to choose this care-support option. To begin to fill the gap, this paper reports the finding of a qualitative study of 26 family members who were caring for a disabled elder. Semi-structured interviews lasting between 60 and 100 minutes and that covered various aspects of long-term care in family households were conducted. The participants' responses indicate that they did not choose immigrant home eldercare assistants solely for economic reasons but also to be consistent with cultural, moral and traditional understandings of family responsibilities and care. They also provide valuable findings and insights into Italian attitudes towards the welfare state and the care-labour market. While the wealthiest respondent declared a clear predilection for the free-market and a desire to bypass the state, the majority of the respondents advocated a stronger role of the welfare state in helping people cope with the increased burden of long-term care.

Abstract Objective: The objective of this study is to analyze the factors that aggravate everyday life, health status, living conditions, economic coping, medical rehabilitation, and training needs of people with diabetes. Materials and Methods: In 2001, in cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Estonia and the Institute for European Studies, the Estonian Chamber for Disabled People conducted a survey among people with different disabilities. The survey also included people living with diabetes. A total of 974 people were surveyed; 86 of them had diabetes. The data were analyzed using frequency tables. The results reflect the subjective opinions of the people surveyed. Results: There are more women (64%) among people with diabetes than men. The disease is more frequent among the older population (74% in the age group of 26-45 years). Persons living with diabetes display a variety of health complaints (vision problems, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, tooth decay, etc.). Of the people surveyed, 75% are satisfied with the medical care they have received. Of the people with diabetes, 63% were hospitalized for 6-30 days during the past year. The need for a helper was often (63%) cited as something that would facilitate coping with everyday life. Catering services are especially important for persons living with diabetes (30%), but the need for a conversation partner was also highlighted (21%). Conclusions: The efficiency of the impact of adjustment courses should be considered more. There is an apparent contradiction - although they are of working age, not everyone can find work. People with diabetes rarely have the courage to talk about the difficulties they are faced with in their everyday life. Help and financial support from the state are needed to solve the problems. The organization itself could do a lot more favorable conditions for its activities, which were established.

Leprosy is an infectious disease that causes very complex problems. The problem in question is not only from a medical point of view but also extends to social, economic, cultural, security and resilience issues. Stigma in the community is still a major obstacle in an effort to break the chain of leprosy transmission. . The irregularity of treatment and the disappearance of people with leprosy have an impact on the failure of leprosy prevention. In addition, people affected by leprosy and families with leprosy as care givers do not receive proper direction and evaluation regarding their roles and duties from the officers. This research was carried out using a qualitative approach with a phenomenal descriptive design. Data collection methods were carried out using Focus Discussion Group (FGD) techniques for 7 participants. The results of this study showed that participants had negative and positive responses when diagnosed with leprosy, participants felt they were not recovering from their illness and participants hoped for a re-examination of the illness they suffered. In addition patients feel the need to get legal aspects in the form of a statement stating that they have been declared cured. Key Word: home care, carrying, leprossy

Abstract Introduction Older individuals are particularly prone to constipation with a reported prevalence of up 50% for those living in community with the prevalence rising to 70% within nursing homes (De Giorgio et al, 2015 1). Objectives To assess impact of staff education & pharmacist intervention on appropriateness of laxative use: Staff education: Examine the baseline knowledge of care home staff on constipation and laxative use: Formulate an education package to deliver to care home staff on key aspects of laxative use: Evaluate the staff knowledge, post the educational intervention.: Impact of pharmacist medication review on laxative use: Evaluate impact of pharmacist review on appropriateness of laxative use in care Homes. Method Three BHSCT Care Homes being case managed by the Medicines Optimisation Pharmacist were included in the study. Staff Education: The baseline knowledge of care home staff was examined by questionnaire, pre- and post-educational intervention on key aspects of laxative use. Staff directly administering medication or directly impacting on patients’ care in were included. An education package on key aspects of laxative use for delivery in nursing homes was designed and implemented. Impact of Pharmacist medication review on laxative use: We retrospectively examined if 30 patients were prescribed multiple laxatives from the same group as an indicator of inappropriate laxative use, pre and post pharmacist intervention. Results Staff education: Thirty-three staff completed the questionnaires. The educational package developed on laxative use had a positive impact on the knowledge of the staff on constipation and laxative use with statistically significant improvements in staff knowledge post education, with p-value <0.05. Healthcare assistants’ mean percentage increase in knowledge following education mirrored that of nursing staff at almost 50%. Impact of Pharmacist medication review on laxative use: There was a statistically significant improvement in appropriateness of laxative prescribing following the pharmacist led medication review of 30 residents. Fewer patients were prescribed laxatives from the same class following medication reviews with a p value of < 0.00001, the result is significant at p < 0.05. Discussion The positive impact of this study supports the conclusion by Chen et al 2 (2014) that patient and carer education should be first line treatment for non-severe constipation. Shen Q et al 3 (2018) suggested that educational intervention for patients can effectively improve constipation symptoms, treatment and result in improved health habits however this study provides further evidence that the education of care home staff plays a significant role in improving the appropriate management of constipation for care home residents. Pharmacist-led review of laxatives has the potential to improve a Care Home resident’s quality of life, as previously suggested by Dennison et al 4 (2005), with the potential to reduce the risk of complications or hospital admissions from ineffective treatment of chronic constipation. Conclusion The development & delivery of a bespoke laxative educational package along with pharmacist medication review of residents’ current laxatives regimes resulted in a statistically improved appropriateness in laxative use. The education package developed will be shared with Medicines Optimisation for Older People (MOOP) Care Home Pharmacists for delivery in NI trusts. References 1. De Giorgio et al. 2015. Laws of management are the basis for the creation and operation of educational organizations. Laws fix the unity and commonality of phenomena. The laws of management are objective. Their action is manifested only in human activity. The laws of management do not deny the nature and objective nature of economic laws. An educational organization as a group of people working together to achieve common goals is an economic category. Therefore, there is a need to use economic laws, due to the objective nature of their effect on the conditions of human activity or production team. The laws of educational management also have economic meaning. The effect of economic laws is expressed in the essential aspects of management relations. Economic laws affect the formation of the mechanism and methods of management, as well as the outcome of the educational organization. The current level of management development shows that considering only economic laws in management is not enough for the effective work of the educational organization. Educational management must meet the requirements of objective laws. The process of complying with the requirements of the law is carried out through an understanding of the objectivity of the law and the creative activity of the leadership and managers of the educational organization. Each law has its own forms of influence on the educational organization. Thus, the law of common goals is manifested in the need to define a common goal (mission) and the formation of a system of goals of each element and the educational organization. The law of division of labor determines the need for the allocation of functions, functional areas of activity and management processes. The law of external complement forces the head of the organization to remember the factors of the external environment and respond to their influence. This law dictates the conditions in which the organization must operate. The success of an educational organization is determined not by its internal conditions, but by how well it can adapt to its external environment. Under this law, the leadership of the educational organization must recognize in time the threats posed by the external environment and seek the maximum benefit from the opportunities it provides. The law of inertia is manifested in the relations formed by direct and feedback, as well as the criteria of flexibility and adaptability. The law of saving time is manifested mostly in such forms as labor productivity, the system of norms and standards, the use of means of labor. The production, technological, managerial, information structure of the educational organization, as well as the economic levers of its functioning are used as a mechanism for implementing the laws. One of the most important things to keep in mind when it comes to governance is that human action is subject to general principles. A principle is a general norm, a rule that is shared and recognized by all people or individual groups of people. The management of educational organizations rarely deals with a limited set of principles. It deals with a set of interdependent principles. Management is an applied science. Therefore, it should be based not only on general laws, but also on their own principles, which express the specifics of the science of management. Management principles are derived from general laws and reflect the relationships formed in the organization, according to which the management system should be formed, function and develop.

Pope Francis, in the encyclical Laudato Si’, speaks of an “integral ecology” that combines environmental, economic, social, cultural and spiritual ecologies in caring for our common home. Pope Francis also sees the important role of environmental education in increasing awareness and creating a “culture of care” for our common home and promoting quality of life or well-being. While promoting environmental education, many researchers argue in favor of the effectiveness of the indigenous ecological knowledge and practices to protect and maintain natural environments. Indigenous ecological knowledge systems are based on a process of an intimate relational perspective and a sort of symbiotic relationships between people and the ecological system. These assumptions of indigenous relational perspective and symbiotic relationships demand a holistic or global consciousness, which involves that people recognize the importance of other people and of other species to the global community’s integrated and comprehensive well-being. Based on the premise that indigenous knowledge and ecological systems should be recognized as a foreground in ecology; as an antidote to globalization in sustaining the environment, and as an invaluable tool in providing better quality of life, this paper proposes an integral ecological education model of an “indigenous relational perspective of ecological education and comprehensive well-being.” In this integral ecological education model, specific emphasis is placed on interconnectedness between indigenous aspects of environmental knowledge, kincentric ecology, ecological conversion and harmony, and ecological spirituality in creating a ‘culture of care’ for our common home and in promoting our common good, quality of life, and well-being. In the light of Laudato Si’ and the proposed model, some concrete examples implemented at Fu Jen Catholic University in Taiwan are elucidated.

National Programme for Social Integration of People with Disabilities for 2013 - 2019 has set a strategic objective to create a positive environment and conditions for a dignified and fully fledged life of people with disabilities in Lithuania, to guarantee equal opportunities and the quality of life of people with disabilities. The article analyses the experiences of the social workers, who work in sheltered housing accommodation with young adults with intellectual disability, when developing independent living skills in young adults with intellectual disability. Sheltered housing accommodation is social services institutions providing social care, in which persons live in home environment and conditions are created for them to manage their own personal life on their own with the support of the social workers. A qualitative-empirical study has been conducted by using the method of a semi-structured interview. The study data were processed by using the method of content analysis. The results of the empirical study are based on the experience of 11 social workers, who have been working in sheltered housing accommodation with young adults with intellectual disability for at least 3 years. The study has revealed that the following independent living skills are considered to be the most easy to be developed: cooking, simple housework, hygiene skills. The young adults also easily develop public transport use skills. The young adults most often acquire work skills by tidying their home environment. The most difficult, according to the social workers, to develop are economic skills: to manage their budget, to allocate finances, to pay for services, and to do the shopping. The young adults with intellectual disability find it difficult to develop their parenting skills. Communication skills are developed while learning etiquette and complying with it in a large range of environments, by encouraging to communicate courteously with other persons, showing personal example, taking a good example from others, taking part in different events, festivals and communal activity. The development of independent living skills occurs by engaging young adults in a practical activity. Particular attention is given to the development of healthy lifestyle skills. The young adults are encouraged to make decisions by guiding them in the right direction, while respecting their interests; the responsibility for the decisions made by them and the consequences of those decisions is also developed. Activity planning, organising and personal skills are developed.

Introduction: Nutrients are related to the growth and development of children. In addition to nutrition, physical activity is no less important in the process of child growth and development that can be carried out in the home or school environment. Children with disabilities sometimes can’t get the optimum nutrients required for their body and it is hard to do physical activities. It is necessary to study eating patterns and physical activities and the incidence of obesity in children with disabilities. The purpose of the study was to determine the description of eating patterns, physical activity and the incidence of obesity in children with disabilities. Methods: The research method used was a quantitative design with a cross sectional approach. Subjects were recruited by purposive sampling technique. Diet was determined by a food frequency questionnaire. Physical activity was measured by the standard Global Physical Activity Questionnaire. Univariate analysis was used to describe the distribution of frequency and percentage. Bivariate analysis was used to determine the relationship of diet and physical activity with the incidence of obesity. Results: The result is that 50% of Bangunputra Special Educational Needs (SEN) School’s students are obese, 25% are normal, and 25% tend to be thin. The eating pattern of students with disabilities resulted in 43.8% being balanced and the remaining 56.2% consuming excessively on staple foods. In physical activity, 45.2% did physical activity and the remaining 54.5% did not do physical activity. Low physical activity can be caused by children with autism who have motor disorders that can affect them. Parenting patterns are related to socio-economic status, because the majority of parents of Bangunputra SEN School students do not restrain or limit any child's wishes. Conclusion: The results showed that the incidence of obesity in children with disabilities is related to the knowledge of eating patterns and physical activity. Parents and the school environment play an essential role in providing better care for people with disabilities.

The article highlights the theoretical and methodological foundations of inclusive tourism development; substantiates theoretical aspects of the origin and use of the new concept of “inclusive rehabilitation and social tourism”; analyzes the modern world and Ukrainian experience in the development and implementation of inclusive tourism in the tourism sector of Ukraine. The article presents a study of the evolution and futureintroduction of inclusive tourism in the rehabilitation system of Ukraine, taking into account the peculiarities of the regulatory framework, political and economic problems in the country, and, as a result, the social standard of living of Ukraine. We provide a classification of groups of inclusive tourists according to the types of inclusion and the possibilities of providing rehabilitation services: social group (Chernobyl veterans, pensioners, pregnant women, large families, and others); the group people with disabilities (various groups of disabilities and nosologies), people with “war syndrome” (Afghan War veterans, military from zones of the ATO, displaced people, people with psychological trauma, children of war, war veterans, and others). The priority directions of rehabilitation care professionals were determined depending on the inclusive profile and nosology: therapeutic and recreational, cultural-cognitive, family-youth, professional-labour, non-Olympic physical culture and sports. The components for each segment of rehabilitation and social services for people with inclusion due to tourist activities are identified. A conceptually new theoretical and methodological block model of an”accessible” inclusive environment for rehabilitation of people of various inclusive groups and nosologies is presented. The connection between the main elements of this model of inclusive rehabilitation tourism is established. In order to fully understand the level of the need for the introduction of inclusive tourism in Ukrainian society, not only is a thorough scientific and methodological base needed, but also practical testing of the results.

Purpose This paper aims to review how intergenerational connections and relationships have been affected to date by COVID-19. It provides lessons for the future. Design/methodology/approach This paper is a review of policy and practice. Findings Although there are some excellent examples of creative approaches such as online strategies to bring generations together in the face of social distancing, there remain barriers to building stronger communities. Many people of all ages remain lonely and isolated. Community projects are under-funded and will struggle to maintain connections beyond the immediate crisis. Inequalities and the digital divide have been exacerbated by COVID-19. Intergenerational relations are likely to be further strained by the economic impact. Originality/value None of us have known anything like COVID-19 and its impact on all aspects of our lives. It will continue to affect generations to come, and we need to learn the lessons as we move forward.

Abstract While a large body of evidence increasingly documents how individual-level modifiable risk factors shape where and how people age, the aspects of the social environment in which people grow older deserve more focus. Here, we aim to identify examples of multilevel social factors that shape health and aging among samples from diverse populations and datasets. The overarching goal of this work is to yield evidence of the impact of social factors on healthy aging, specifically focusing on cognitive functioning, physical activity, unmet needs, and psychological distress for middle-aged and older adults. Our panel includes four studies focusing on distinct aspects of the social environment and outcomes that affect healthy aging. Specifically, the first presentation uses instrumental variable analysis to estimate a causal association between racial discrimination within institutional settings (e.g., housing, employment) and cognitive function measures. The second study considers neighborhood deprivation (measured using the area deprivation index and personal belief in the neighborhood) as a structural context that may strongly limit adults’ engagement in daily physical health. The third presentation identifies an association between the home environment (i.e., home disorder and disrepair) and unmet care needs (e.g., going without needed assistance with everyday activities such as eating or bathing). Our last presentation shows relationships between measures of economic status (e.g., food insecurity), social support impact, and psychological distress. We close by integrating critical findings from each study and consider the implications of each study on future research and interventions.

Abstract Introduction Formal health and social security institutions are not unequipped to respond to significant dementia prevalence, and currently, no publicly funded national level dementia care policies are in place. However, little is known about the economic, social and health consequences for those providing care. Methods This paper presents families’ health and social dementia care seeking trajectories and the structural factors that shape them. It is based on results of almost 2 years of highly inductive fieldwork, carried out before and during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and includes 50 in-depth interviews with 23 unpaid family caregivers. Results Lack of awareness and knowledge about dementia and normalization of cognitive impairment as part of aging result in long delays in seeking care. When there is a diagnosis, health professionals concentrate on clinical aspects of illness, but seldom explain possible changes, behaviours, symptoms, or provide care strategies. For most carers, high opportunity costs are reported with high impact as they stop or change to more flexible employment, change living arrangements, in addition to the large economic impact of paying for most care inputs such as medicines or home adaptations. Conclusions In Mexico, these unpaid family carers struggle to navigate complicated care pathways, with little or no government or public support. Health system institutions should increase awareness and knowledge about dementia and prioritize developing and coordinating programs that provide timely diagnosis within primary care services and support strategies for people living with dementia and their carers, using person centred care.

Background: Long-term care (LTC) needs for the elderly have become increasingly crucial policy concerns in rapidly aging Asia, especially in China, the most populous nation. However, very few studies have examined the cohort differences in terms of their existing and expected utilization of LTC services, above all urban–rural differences. This study aims to evaluate the differences of LTC current status and needs between urban–rural areas and age groups, and to identify influencing factors causing the different LTC needs. Methods: The data come from the Chinese Longitudinal Health Longevity Survey in 2014. A total of 7192 home-based elderly aged ≥65 years by multistage sampling were enrolled. The Andersen Model was applied to categorize the influential factors into three components including predisposing, enabling and needs. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the influential factors of the three levels of LTC needs. Results: A total of 6909 valid sample sizes were included in this study. The overall LTC needs of the elderly showed a rapidly increasing trend among which older people had the highest needs for bathing (27.29%) and toileting (15.8%). It was also demonstrated the aged cohort between urban and rural exerted an impact on all aspects of LTC status and needs to varying degrees (p < 0.05). Compared with urban areas, the LTC needs for the elderly in rural areas was more vigorous, but the supply was seriously inadequate. The elderly who were older, living in rural areas, unmarried, non-farming, with low income, in poor health and having less autonomy had higher anticipated needs for LTC services (OR > 1, p < 0.01). Compared with the young-old in rural areas, the young-old in urban areas were prone to live alone (OR = 1.61, p < 0.01). The elderly who were older, living in rural areas, farming, with low income, lonely and depressed had higher anticipated needs for community-based services (1 < OR < 1.69, p < 0.05). Conclusions: The aged cohort in urban–rural distinction were facing an increasing need for immediate care due to the inadequate support being provided, especially among rural elderly. The oldest elderly in rural areas had higher LTC needs, and different levels of needs were affected by age, economic level, family support, health status and other related effects. This study provides evidence-based recommendation for further improving the construction and development of the LTC system in China.
