Abstract By the thirteenth century, when the best-known sagas of Icelanders had been committed to print thanks to Latin and vernacular literacy, the most prosperous Icelandic farms had their own Church, a patron saint, and, in a substantial number of cases, a vernacular life of their patron, whether native- or foreign-born. This dimension of medieval Icelandic life was disregarded in the Íslenzk fornrit editing project which began in 1933. What came to be called the “nativist” perspective gave pride of place to domestic narratives of the centuries after the settlement of the island, seeing the sagas of Icelanders, as they came to be known, as literarily styled reflections of an historical past. It was not until 1998 that sagas of native Icelandic bishops found a place in the ÏF series and even today the vernacular lives and miracles of both the native and non-Icelandic saints remain unrepresented there. Beyond this editorial restriction, the study of Old Norse hagiography has been hampered by a limited number of well edited texts by the small but devoted collegium of scholars, several represented in the volume under review, which seeks to redress this critical imbalance.

When Ulrich Middeldorf departed Florence in November 1935 to teach art history at the University of Chicago, he left behind at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz the ‘Photo collection – the special pride of our Institute’ in the structure that has characterised it up to the present day. Middeldorf was 25 when he first came to the Institute as a scholar. In the following years he turned the Photothek into a modern research instrument, re-organising its classification system and its card indexes as the main finding aid. His contribution to the growth of the collection was enormous, not only thanks to his own donations, but also through the relationship he fostered with the main patron of the collection, Luigi Vittorio Fossati Bellani.

Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) is one of the largest religious organizations in Indonesia. The santri community that is very identical to NU has contributed to Indonesia's development. When viewed from history, Santri were actively involved in Indonesian politics. The contribution of the santri is seen in various strategic positions of the country. The purpose of this study was to determine the attitude of the santri identity in political moments. This study uses a case study method to determine the process and central dynamics of santri in political activity. Semi-structured interviews were used to determine the identity construction of two subjects who had different backgrounds, but both were NU members who were raised in the santri tradition. The results showed that the santri's attitude did not have a particular patron/command and was amoeba/spread in various positions. Santri builds a unique identity as pride and has more value than other groups. Another result shows that political activity is considered an activity in worship.

Squire noted in theObserverreview of Baldwin's 1926 collection of his speeches, entitledOn England(released just before the General Strike), ‘this is the work of a thoroughly representative Englishman: not the common man, but one expressing what the common man feels and cannot say for himself’. Almost from the moment of its consecration, on 26 April 1876, the church of the Holy Angels at Hoar Cross in Staffordshire was spoken of as an exceptional building. There was more than local pride in a contemporary newspaper report of its unveiling, which declared it to be ‘one of the most beautiful churches in the kingdom … the dignity of the conception, the beauty of the proportion, and the elaborate care lavished on even the minutest detail, carry one back to those days which have left us such memorials as the Percy shrine or the Beauchamp chapel’. That perceptive reference to those medieval sources of inspiration suggests one of the reasons why the church made such an immediate impression. It was the first complete embodiment in a rural setting of a new ideal in the Gothic revival, which in the previous decade had turned its back on the exotic and eclectic style now called High Victorian and had returned to English architecture of the mid-fourteenth century as the point of departure for modern churches. At Hoar Cross, Bodley and Garner, the architectural partnership which had taken the lead in that movement, worked in close collaboration with an exceptional patron, Emily Meynell Ingram, to help realize a compelling new visual identity for the nineteenth-century Anglican parish church.

Nīlakaṇṭha Dīkṣita is widely recognised as one of the leading figures of early modern Sanskrit literature. He is also remembered—in popular narratives and in academic circles alike—as a minister at Tirumalai Nāyaka’s court in Madurai. This essay offers a corrective to this story and reflects on the historiographical mishaps that shaped it. I show that Nīlakaṇṭha lived most of his life around Thanjavur in the Kaveri delta and left no trace of an affiliation with a court or a patron. Rather, he took pride in being an independent author and teacher. I then take the opportunity to propose a forgotten model of authorship that Nīlakaṇṭha embodied. I suggest thinking of Nīlakaṇṭha as a ‘genealogical poet’, committed exclusively to his lineage of male family members and teachers. His genealogical commitments go hand in hand with an active teaching career, a radical interpretation of an existing literary and economical ideal of writerly independence (sarvatantrasvatantra) and a confidence in the survival of his legacy through future generations of students and family members. The genealogical economy also gives rise to an aesthetics and ethics of intimacy that shape Nīlakaṇṭha’s distinctive authorial signature. While I would argue that Nīlakaṇṭha is a genealogical poet par excellence, this model may be applied in different measures and constellations to other figures and contribute to a better understanding of the social realities that shape literary and intellectual histories of early modern South Asia and beyond.

The Puto Latik Festival in Binan City, Laguna, which is a contemporary commemoration of the traditional feast of San Isidro Labrador, the Patron Saint of Farmers, is one of the city's cultural highlights. While "Latik" refers to the traditional dance "Maglalatik", which originated in the city, "Puto" refers to the well-known Puto Biñan. To honor the "Magpuputo" of Biñan's contributions to the pride and identity of the city, this study investigates the Cultural Awareness, Motivation and Satisfaction of Puto Latik Festival to the Residents of Biñan City, Laguna. Analyzing 381 responses in total with 127 responses each barangay from the immediate residents of three barangays, namely, Barangay Canlalay, Barangay, Poblacion and Barangay San Joseph where the festival was held. This study investigated how Cultural Awareness, Motivation, and Satisfaction affect one another using information gathered from locals that attend the Puto Latik festival. The structural analysis reveals that there is significant and no significant difference in the respondents’ assessment of the festival satisfaction, motivation and cultural awareness depending on the respondent’s demographic profile. When grouped by gender and educational attainment, the null hypothesis of no significant is not rejected however, when grouped by age there is a significant difference in festival motivation and by location the three factors have a significant difference. The results showed that community benefits and cultural and educational advantages are good predictors of residents' subjective measures of motivation, satisfaction and cultural awareness.

This paper examines how various private patrons intervened to support research in gravitational physics from the late 1940s through the early 1960s. Our analysis centers primarily on two wealthy and eccentric businessmen, Roger Babson and Agnew Bahnson, and their efforts to galvanize the study of gravitation. Not only did these patrons provide generous funding at a time when the subject of gravitation received few other institutional sources of support; they also helped to knit together a research community. Moreover, we trace the evolution of their patronage efforts, as scientists and patrons revised their arrangements to address what came to seem weak or ineffective features of the original efforts. These unusual philanthropic efforts played an outsized role in spurring what has been called the renaissance of general relativity during the middle decades of the twentieth century.

Use of nutritional supplements and ergogenic aids among various user groups has been well documented over the years. One area that is lacking in current research is the use of these nutritional supplements among campus recreation facility users. This population is a prime target market for those in the sport supplement industry. There are many reasons people participate in campus recreation facilities and most would benefit from the use of nutritional supplementation if the claims made by the manufacturers of these supplements is true. However, the nutritional supplement industry is not very strictly regulated and the potential for risk to users is ever present. Obviously the risks vary among manufacturers and also with the type of supplement being taken. It is in the best interest of anyone contemplating taking a nutritional supplement to research the risks, benefits and potential side-effects. It would be beneficial for campus recreation administrators to have an understanding of what types of nutritional supplements their patrons are taking and the risks involved with such. It would also be of benefit to have an understanding of where the patrons obtain information regarding nutritional supplements so that nonbiased educational interventions can be developed with the goal of reducing risks associated with patron of these products. 200 users of a campus recreation facility were surveyed using an instrument designed by Scofield & Unruh (2006) to assess the prevalence of use of nutritional supplements, the types of supplements being used, and where they obtain their information regarding these supplements.

Why did Muslim masters of Hindustani music or ustāds of the past century sometimes refuse to record, perform or teach? These acts appear to justify a common depiction of ustāds, propagated by their detractors and defenders alike as jealously guarding their hereditary knowledge. A deeper look, however, reveals that ustāds withheld their music for fear that it would be played in lowly places, consumed by ill-mannered audiences or taught to disloyal students. Drawing on the oral history of one aristocratic family’s relationship with their Muslim teachers, I argue that the pride that prevented some ustāds from playing to the masses reflected an elitism learned from their patrons and students among the gentry, many of whom were Hindu. This argument develops two existing narratives: one in which ustāds adopted the manners and pursuits of their patrons, and another in which patrons risked losing prestige by performing. Stories of both ustāds and their patrons shunning the public, read together, not only decouple secretiveness from its association with Muslims, but also reveal discipleship as a transformative space in which musicians and their patrons learned from one another, cultivating shared attitudes, morals and dispositions.

Purpose When patrol officers experience poor job satisfaction and make the decision to leave their profession, their departments face the cost of recruiting and training new officers. The purpose of this paper is to develop a new measure that could be used by police departments to identify specific dimensions of job satisfaction in their officers so that appropriate interventions could be made before officers reach the point of ending their employment. Design/methodology/approach To enhance widespread applicability of the new measure, the 221 study participants were from convenience samples of patrol officers in the USA and Turkey (95.9 percent male; mean age=29.4 years; mean service=5.9 years). Officers completed anonymous surveys to report individual and departmental demographics, to give satisfaction ratings for a variety of aspects of their work environment, and to report other psychosocial variables that might be used to assess validity of job satisfaction dimensions. Findings Exploratory factor analysis produced the 14-item Patrol Officer Job Satisfaction Scale (POJSS) with three dimensions: supervisor fairness, peer comradery, occupational pride. The three POJSS dimensions showed acceptable goodness-of-fit, internal reliability, and test-retest reliability. Multiple regression analyses demonstrated no significant associations between nine individual and department demographics (gender, age, marital status, education, service years, weekly work hours, nation, city location, number of officers) and any of the three POJSS dimensions. Research limitations/implications One limitation of the present study was that it included only convenience samples of patrol officers from the USA and Turkey. Future research could conduct confirmatory factor analyses on more diverse and representative samples of patrol officers from various international locations to determine if they also perceive the same three POJSS dimensions of job satisfaction (supervisor fairness, peer comradery, occupational pride). Practical implications Police departments could use the POJSS as an assessment tool to identify any problems of poor job satisfaction in their patrol officers so they could provide targeted improvements. For example, if patrol officers report low ratings for supportive peers, some scholars have recommended the formation of officer support groups (Johnson, 2012; Pienaar et al., 2007; Rhoades and Eisenberger, 2002; Scott, 2004; Stamper and Johlke, 2003; Toch, 2002; Walker et al., 2006). Social implications If patrol officers report low ratings for supervisor fairness, peer comradery, and occupational pride, police departments could arrange leadership seminars, hold “Clear the Air” meetings or anonymous surveys to allow patrol officers to identify specific improvements they suggest to improve these components of job satisfaction. Originality/value Research on police officer job satisfaction has been increasing in recent decades, but is still relatively sparse when compared to the study of employee job satisfaction in the private sector and other areas of government. Recent research on police job satisfaction has typically included law enforcement officers with a wide range of ranks, rather than focusing solely on patrol officers. Also, the few studies that focus on job satisfaction in patrol officers used either secondary data (Ingram and Lee, 2015) or re-evaluated data over eight-year old (Johnson, 2012). Especially with the recent turbulent events seen between community members and their front-line police officers (including in the USA and Turkey), available research may have missed the most important dimensions of job satisfaction for present patrol officers supporting the measure's widespread relevance.

Seasonal patterns in the South African capital market In this article the seasonal patterns in daily price movements of the Post Office, Eskom 168 and the RSA bonds are examined and these are compared with three equity indices namely the Gold Index, Industrial Index and Overall Index of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. Both the South African bond and share markets display significant seasonal patterns. In contrast with international findings, it is shown that seasonal similarities exist between the bond and share markets.

Purpose Slimming centres have become a hot spot for people to reduce their size and reshape their body figure through the sophisticated and modern treatments that are provided by the therapists. The purpose of this paper is to examine the influence of price, place and promotion on the behavioural intention to consume the slimming treatments. Design/methodology/approach This research is a cross-sectional study in which 308 primary data were collected for descriptive analysis, confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modelling. The data were collected through a survey questionnaire that was distributed to respondents who have experience in consuming slimming treatment at a slimming centre. Findings The majority of slimming centre consumers are working women aged 25 and above from urban areas. As an attraction, the pricing strategy is a very important influence on consumers to consume the slimming treatment at slimming centres. Although the main target market for slimming centres is career women who are earning an above average income, an excessively high price might weaken the behavioural intention of the consumer to consume the service since Malaysian women are very price conscious. The findings also indicate that there is a significant correlation relationship between price and promotion as well as place and promotion. Originality/value This research is expected to contribute in terms of providing more knowledge about this industry, since there are still limited findings pertaining to slimming centres, especially in the Malaysian market.

Gastronomy tourism offers a unique touristic experience that positively affects other tourism industry sectors. This study focused on assessing gastronomy tourism and its relationship to the hospitality enterprise image of Guiuan Eastern Samar. A descriptive-correlational was applied with two sets of survey questionnaires with Cronbach alpha of 0.87. A total of 400 respondents participated in the survey. The data obtained were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, and Pearson's correlation for the relationship of the variables. The results showed that gastronomy tourism of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, significantly contributed to the local pride and culture of the town as it preserves the local spice herbs and generates employment to the local community. Moreover, product, promotion, and management have a significant relationship to the hospitality enterprise image. Thus, it is recommended to maintain a reasonable price of the gastronomical products and provide sufficient information to encourage more patrons to get in touch with the different travel partners and operators in the region to create effective marketing tactics for the gastronomy tourism of the municipality. Likewise, traditional ways of developing the gastronomical products of the municipality must be preserved, as this serves as a competitive reinforcement for several hospitality enterprises.

Primary data were obtained by direct observation and interviews in depth about gapokdakan and secondary data from the literature books, articles, court documentation etc. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis to determine the pattern of patronclient, a SWOT analysis to look at the search for and review of internal and external factors to determine a good decision, whereas for determining the position of developmental conditions Gapokdakan that the formulation matrix IFE (Internal Factor Evaluation ) and matrix EFE (External Factor Evaluation). The results of this research is the patron-client that occurred in the Tambak Rejo village is lending system capital provided by middlemen to farmers in the form of fish feed, but this kind of relationship there are times when farmers in disadvantaged because of the incompatibility of fish price per kilogram, and the price increase feed if borrowed from brokers, on the other hand the benefits that the convenience of farmers to capital, marketing is assured, and farmers can continue farming fish. SWOT analysis for the IFE and EFE matrix is internal factor the highest strength is the availability of the fish pond, the highest weaknesses are internal factors that are difficult or capital financing farmers, the results of internal factors evaluation matrix, internal factor of gapokdakan is good. External factors greatest opportunities, namely the potential of tilapia hatchery in the Tambak Rejo village, as well as external factors are the biggest threat is the virus tilapia. Dagli anni '70 la loro visibilità nel movimento esperantista è aumentata; un ente di coordinamento, Rondo Familia, è stato formato nel 1995. In quasi tutte le circa 350 famiglie attualmente documentate, l'esperanto è parlato ai bambini dal padre. Coppie con una origine etnicolinguistica mista sono solo circa un terzo di tutte le coppie. Le informazioni a disposizione suggeriscono che il "bilinguismo artificiale" praticato dai due terzi rimanenti delle coppie puö avere altrettanto successo del "bilinguismo naturale". Patrons can pay the suggested price, less than the suggested price, redeem a token worth the cost of a meal, or pay by volunteering at the café. Patrons who are able to “pay it forward” can further support the mission by tipping or buying meal tokens for others. At this café, a space reminiscent of an ancient “community well,” thirsty travelers receive the life-giving waters of acceptance, connection, and sustenance. The custom of hospitality is a life-giving and transformational practice for the Church, a viable and tangible way to connect with its neighbor and draw all persons into the experience of God’s love.

In the Church of Saint Stephen in Duljevo, not far from Budva (Pastrovici) an interesting composition of the founders (ktetores) has been preserved. In accordance with an early Serbian tradition, it was painted on the southern wall in the western bay of the naos (drawing 1), and it is possible that it extended over the southern part of the western wall that was demolished very long ago. The Duljevo composition of the founders now depicts the images of the patron saint of the church, Saint Stephen, the First Martyr, painted on the southern side of the south-west pilaster, and the presentations of the two rulers to the west of him (drawing 2). The patron saint of the church who was the protector of the Serbian medieval state and its rulers, is represented in a deacon's sticharion, with a censer in his hands, blessing the founders. The ruler in his prime approaches the First Martyr, presenting him with a model of the church (drawing 2, figs. 1, 2)...

The cult of saints and the subsequent interest in relics constituted one of the essential characteristics of medieval Western Christianity. In particular, relics and reliquaries are prime examples of the importance of materiality in devotion. In the present article we analyse one of the medieval skull relics of Turku Cathedral and its material characteristics in detail. Previous examinations undertaken in the 1920s and 1940s produced two theories of its origins and identification. By analysing the bone material and the narrative depiction of martyrdom embroidered on the silk wrapping, State Archaeologist Juhani Rinne connected the relic to St Henry, the patron saint of Finland and the cathedral, while State Archaeologist Carl Axel Nordman identified it as belonging to St Eric, the patron saint of the Kingdom of Sweden. By re-examining the central element of the skull relic, the bones, with osteological analysis and radiocarbon dating, we show both theories to be highly problematic. Our analysis reveals the complex material features of the skull relic and the medieval cult of relics.

Abstract The University of NSW Automated Patrol Telescope (APT), a modified 0.5 m Baker-Nunn Schmidt telescope situated at Siding Spring Observatory, Coonabarabran, Australia, was opened in June 1989. It features the unique combination of an extremely fast (f/1) optical system with a CCD (Charge-Coupled Device) camera at the prime focus, capable of both fast (50 Hz TV-rate) imaging and slow-scan integrated readout via a low noise Correlated Double Sampling amplifier. This combination of optics and detector gives a wide field (0.9° × 1.4°) suited to observing extended objects including the LMC, SMC and galaxies in the Sculptor group. First images from the APT are presented along with the results of noise, linearity and dark current measurements made to date with a 12-bit analog-to-digital converter. In Australia in 2001, there was a marked escalation of debates about nation, national identity and national borders in tandem with a right-wing turn in national politics. Within the cultural context of debate about national identity, popular theatre became an unwitting ally of neo-conservative forces. Within popular theatre culture, the neo-conservative trend is naturalized as the view of the Anglo-Celtic-European mainstream or core culture that also embraces and depoliticizes feminist debates about home and family. Elizabeth Coleman's 2001 play This Way Up assists in the production of an inward-looking turn in the national imaginary and a renewed emphasis on home and family. The performance dramatizes aspects of what we are to understand as ordinary Australian life which might be interpreted as that which Prime Minister John Howard defends in the name of the National Interest. The cultural imaginary that shapes the production of the popular play is that of the conservative white national imaginary.

ABSTRACTIt is widely believed among historians that in 1920, the Danish explorer Knud Rasmussen and the Danish government challenged Canada's sovereignty over Ellesmere Island. This paper draws on a wide range of Canadian and British government files and private papers to contest this view. It demonstrates that Prime Minister Arthur Meighen and others in Ottawa were initially convinced by Vilhjalmur Stefansson that Denmark harboured territorial ambitions in the north, but most realised in the spring of 1921 that they had been mistaken. However, one civil servant, J. B. Harkin, stubbornly maintained his belief in the Danish threat. After Mackenzie King's Liberals came to power, Harkin was able to obtain a hearing for his views. It was largely due to Harkin's persistence that the first Eastern Arctic Patrol went north in 1922.

We examine the market for parking spaces during Cubs games, focusing on primary data from parking at two residential locations near Wrigley Field in 2008. We describe the price setting process in a theoretical and applied context. Renting six spaces to Cubs game patrons yielded nearly $14,000 during the 2008 baseball season. Parking revenues were higher when attendance was higher, during night games, during weekday games, and especially when the White Sox were the opponent. We suggest opportunities for increased efficiency in price setting for the building owners. We estimate the real estate value of each parking space at about $8,250.

Although junket operators can help casino operators secure business from premium patrons, there has been limited study of this topic in the academic literature. Recent junket business developments in Atlantic City (the most strictly regulated jurisdiction in the US), and in Macao (the world’s largest gambling market) have led to new insights and understandings of the junket business, and this paper identifies key lessons learned from these two major casino markets. The qualitative research interview was adopted due to the under-researched nature of the junket business. This study is based on the institutional theory to analyze human interactions and activities in terms of overt or implicit rules involved in the junket business. A review of the literature and interview findings indicates that junket operators may play a more important role with the economic slowdown, since their business is focused on bringing patrons from strong regional or national economies. This can be achieved by adopting certain location-specific strategies to match changes in the regional market. Diversified product offerings, rather than price reductions, are critical to entice premium patrons in the face of increasing casinos in nearby region. Despite the economic contribution of the junket business, some junket practices might be perceived as exploitative of patrons. Apart from the appropriate balance between the public policy to minimize social costs and an appropriate regulatory standard, a jurisdiction needs to consider such local contexts as its unique culture and junket operators’ intention to promote their interest, in order to better regulate the junket business.

This study aims to investigate the interplay between regional netchain and value chain performance of Indonesia's smallholder cocoa farmers. The investigation was based on in-depth interviews with 45 key informants from two major regional cocoa netchains in the economy. During the interviews, participatory rural assessment technique was employed in order to find out how regional netchain dimensions are interacted with value chain performance. The findings proved the roles of governance mechanism and social embedding into the value chain performance. Governance mechanism was regarded as the most important variable to secure price stability, hence leads to a viable and sustainable regional netchain of cocoa production. Furthermore, social embedding also played an important role through the influence of patron-client systems.

The celebration of the day of patron saint of the local church is a custom that is widespread among Christians in various parts of the world. In the plain and mountain areas of the Romanian Banat region, this day is referred to as ruga (pl. ruge), which literally means “pray.” These customary events are local community participatory festivals in the sense that they include both active and passive participants, the former joining in the dancing, the latter sitting and watching whilst socialising with relatives and friends. Although these events are primarily held on fixed calendrical days according to the patron saint of a specific church, they are in most cases attended by representatives of the many ethnicities and religious confessions that live together in the Banat region. This paper examines saint’s day celebrations in Banat as one of the prime community events where music and dancing take place. It draws on the authors’ fieldwork undertaken at saint’s day celebrations in the Romanian Banat where they observed the similarities and differences in these events. Their research is supplemented by drawing on reports from local media on ruge, historical accounts, and conversations with locals. Their conclusion is that over time the concept of the celebration of ruge has been maintained though the precise details of the events have changed over time as these celebrations have been adapted to meet the needs of present- day communities while retaining their function as participatory community celebrations.

Different threats with different agenda viz. saboteurs, rioters, thieves, terrorists, mob etc. are becoming news events all over the world. But we do have a shield called security. Radiation and Nuclear facilities are of prime importance for 24x7 protections. Let it be guards, patrol parties, quick reaction forces or sentries, they do need a machine supported system to stand by with them in case of need. One of the most required systems is the Secure Distress Alarm System that has to be a rugged, foolproof, always available and fail proof. One such system has been developed and discussed in this paper.

Democratic elections in the Philippines and India in 2019 yielded a paradoxical result: the strengthening of the political hegemony of personalities partial to authoritarian rule. An examination of economic, social, and political conditions prior to the elections shows that the usual paradigms used to explain voters’ choices – class theory, rational choice theory, and patron–client theory – fail to account for the sweeping victories of Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A more useful framework is that of charismatic authority derived from Max Weber. Employing this paradigm, the article discusses the origins of charismatic authority in the two polities, the differences in charismatic appeal, the social construction of charisma, charisma and the creation of the Other, and the democratic dialectic at the heart of charismatic authoritarianism.

On the criteria of price and quality of nursery plant materials responses from the two samples were similar. Plant size and packaging appeared to be more influential criteria to the garden show sample.

ABSTRAK Peningkatan jumlah alat tangkap multigear (jaring rampus dan jaring udang) berbanding terbalik dengan penurunan jumlah produksi hasil tangkapan utamanya yaitu, ikan Kembung dan Udang Putih sejak tahun 2014 hingga tahun 2015. Sulitnya pembiayaan investasi dan pengembangan usaha penangkapan multigear di Pelabuhan Perikanan Pantai Tawang membuat sebagian besar Nelayan terikat pada sistem ijon (Patron-Klien), sehingga menyebabkan penerimaan Nelayan tidak maksimal karena harga jual yang ditetapkan rendah dari pihak Bakul (Patron) selaku pemberi pinjaman modal. Untuk itu, perlu adanya analisis finansial apabila Nelayan tidak terikat sistem ijon.Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah, menganalisis kelayakan finansial untuk mengatahui apakah hingga saat ini usaha penangkapan multigear terikat sistem ijon masih layak untuk dilanjutkan, serta menganalisis bagaimana kelayakan finansial usaha apabila Nelayan tidak terikat sistem ijon.Hasil perhitungan analisis finansial usaha penangkapan multigear terikat sistem ijon discount rate 5% ialah, R/C ratio 1,79, PP 3,112, NPV Rp. 340.654.823,79., Net Net B/C ratio 1,41 dan IRR 13,26%. Sedangkan, hasil analisis finansial usaha penangkapan multigear memanfaatkan lembaga keuangan discount rate 9% ialah, R/C ratio 1,99, PP2,388, , NPVRp. 384.956.100,17., Net Net B/C ratio3,50 dan IRR 50,10% Berdasarkan nilai-nilai tersebut usaha penangkapan multigear terikat sistem ijon masih layak untuk dilanjutkan, namun usaha ini akan lebih layak untuk dijalankan apabila memanfaatkan lembaga keuangan. The difficulty of financial and development business investment arrest multi-fishing gear makes most of the fishermen attached to small seller ( patron-client system). This condition makes fisherman couldn’t get maximum revenue cause of the selling low price from small seller as the Lender of Capital. Based on these problems, the aims of it research are, analysis the feasibility financial to find out weather till today its business still feasible to continue, and how is the analysis business feasibility if the fishermen not bound to ijon system (patron-client).The calculation result of financial analysis multi-fishing gear business bound to ijon system by discount rate 5% are, R/C ratio 1,79, PP 3,112, NPV Rp. 340.654.823,79.,, Net Net B/C ratio 1,41, and IRR 13,26%. Whereas, the result of financial analysis multi-fishing gear business use financial institution discount rate 9% are, R/C ratio 1,99, PP2,388, , NPVRp.384.956.100,17., Net Net B/C ratio3,50 and IRR 50,10%. According to those values multi-fishing gear business that bound to ijon sytem is still feasible to continue, But this business will be recognised to run better when use financial institutions. AbstractThis article analyses the discourse of three prime ministers – Koizumi, Aso, and Hatoyama – to explore how each leader identified the political self and constructed and promoted a particular relationship with the voter before the general elections. The outcome indicates the emergence of a new political communication style based on a party–citizen relationship as business–consumer. Whereas Aso's patron–client discourse pinpoints the role of the responsible and bureaucratic state in protecting Japan, the business–consumer discourse of both Koizumi and Hatoyama demonstrates the entrepreneurial leaders’ willingness to listen to individuals in order to meet their needs and expectations. We speculate that the social norms and values of the business–consumer model might have played a role in attracting a large number of unorganized voters to Koizumi in 2005 and in turn to Hatoyama in 2009.
