Повний текст джерелаThis thesis deals with the fault-tolerance of several interconnection networks, namely the Kautz and de Bruijn networks, and their generalizations. A network is usually modeled by a graph or a digraph in which the vertices represent the nodes in the network and the arcs or edges represent the communication links. The fault tolerance properties are associated to different notions of connectivity. Among some other nice properties the results show that these networks are optimal for these different notions. For example their connectivity’s are almost always equal to their minimum degrees. Therefore those networks should be the model of the future multi processor architectures

Повний текст джерелаIn this thesis we discuss the performance of flexible manufacturing systems subject to failures. We describe two models of manufacturing systems with n stations, and with a limited conveyor belt moving at constant speed and with unlimited queue size. The conveyor belt is composed of two parts. The first part is between entry point and the exit point of the system; and the second is between exit point and entry point of the system. In the first model the pieces may leave the system with a given probability and they may request service from the same station several times. In the second model the pieces are tested before going to the second part of the conveyor and they may request only once service from any station. Each model has being studied with two differents approaches: an analytical model based on queueing theory and a simulation model using the QNAP2 package

Повний текст джерелаIn distributed computing, asynchronous message-passing model with crashes is well-known and considered in many articles, because of its realism and it issimple enough to be used and complex enough to represent many real problems.In this model, n processes communicate by exchanging messages, but withoutany bound on communication delays, i.e. a message may take an arbitrarilylong time to reach its destination. Moreover, up to f among the n processesmay crash, and thus definitely stop working. Those crashes are undetectablebecause of the system asynchronism, and restrict the potential results in thismodel.In many cases, known results in those systems must verify the propertyof a strict minority of crashes. For example, this applies to implementationof atomic registers and solving of renaming. This barrier of a majority ofcrashes, explained by the CAP theorem, restricts numerous problems, and theasynchronous message-passing model with a majority of crashes is thus notwell-studied and rather unknown. Hence, studying what can be done in thiscase of a majority of crashes is interesting.This thesis tries to analyse this model, through two main problems. The first part studies the implementation of shared objects, similar to usual registers,by defining x-colored register banks, and α-registers. The second partextends the renaming problem into k-redundant renaming, for both one-shotand long-lived versions, and similarly for the shared objects called splitters intok-splitters

Повний текст джерелаLatest technologies like 65nm, 45nm and the next 32nm technology available at the end of 2010, allow the production of more and more complex and vey high performance circuits. These technologies lead to face with new challenges related to design, test and diagnosis. From this perspective, failures observed in these recent technologies can no longer be modeled by the classical stuck-at fault model. Delay faults, short-circuits, opens, etc. have also to be considered. In this context, the purpose of this thesis has been to develop a logic diagnosis approach able to deal with many types of faults as well as providing an accurate and reliable localization of failures in a system on chip. This manuscript is organized as follows. In the first part, existing fault models are analyzed in order to show the sensitization conditions related to each of them. The second part presents a logic diagnosis method based on the 'Effect-Cause' paradigm. The last part proposes another diagnosis technique based on the 'Cause-Effect' paradigm to deal with sequential circuits. The two proposed diagnosis approaches exploit the sensitization conditions in order to be able to consider a large set of fault models during the diagnosis process. Both techniques have been validated on a large set of benchmark circuits and on System-On-Chips provided by STMicroelectronics

Повний текст джерелаDetta projekt har syftat till att presentera en uppdatering av en befintlig produkt
genom modifiering av yttre design samt effektivisering av slutmonteringsarbetet.
Produkten, H.KOM-panelen (en elektronik minnestavla), är en del av H.KOM™-
systemet som vänder sig till människor med minnesrelaterade sjukdomar. Projektet
har utförts mot Sensagon AB, stationerat i Vällingby.
Utgångspunkten för projektet är Sensagons befintliga H.KOM-panel. Produkten är
en enhet som via ljussignal ger en påminnelse till användaren om att övervakade
objekt är i avvikande position från sitt normalläge. Exempel på objekt som
övervakas av systemet är elektriska apparater, dörrar och fönster. Dessa objekt
förses med givare som i sin tur via radiosignal skickar informationen till H.KOMpanelen.
Det uppdrag som gavs var att omdesigna H.KOM-panelen för en mer rationell
slutmonteringsprocess samt att förnya den yttre designen.
Projektet har omfattat en funktionsanalys för att strukturera upp funktionerna i
produkten. Ett antal idéskisser skapades och tillsammans med handledare från
högskolan och företaget gjordes ett urval.
Koncept genererades och ett nytt urval gjordes tillsammans med handledarna.
Genom att analysera koncepten via Pugh-matris, QFD och DFA valdes slutligen ett
koncept ut som bearbetades vidare till en prototyp.
Modellen motsvarar de krav som ställts med avseende på företagets övergripande
specifikation. Grundformen harmonierar även med andra delar ingående i
H.KOM™ systemet.
Konceptet har en enkel design med få delar samt en färgsättning och utformning
som gör att den smälter in i de flesta miljöer.
Slutliga dimensioner på den nya H.KOM panelen måste i första hand anpassas efter
det ingående kretskortets dimension som troligen blir styrande.
Arbetet har resulterat i en förstudie av Sensagons H.KOM-panel. Vägen från
problemformulering till slutresultat finns presenterat i text i denna rapport och
visualiseras med hjälp av frihandsskisser och CAD-ritningar.

Повний текст джерелаKraftvärmeverket vid SCA Packaging Munksund AB är ett samarbete mellan SCA och Vattenfall och det består av en ångpanna av typen cirkulerande fluidiserad bädd som togs i drift 2001. Man vill nu genomföra en undersökning om CFBpannans prestanda har förändrats sedan starten, samt en undersökning av pannans maximala kapacitet. Examensarbetet har då bestått av att utföra ett prestandaprov samt ett prov för maximal kapacitet. Arbetet har även innefattat att utarbeta en algoritm för att fiktivt beräkna ingående bränslets fukthalt via rökgasparametrar.
CFB-pannan är dimensionerad mot en termisk effekt på 98MW, vid en bränslekvalitet på 55 % fukthalt och värmevärdet 7,3 MJ/kg. Vid denna driftpunkt garanterar panntillverkaren Foster Wheeler en verkningsgrad på minst 90,57 %. Prestandaprovet från 2002 visade på en verkningsgrad på 91,1 %. Resultatet från dessa observationer visade på en verkningsgrad på 92,07 %, att notera är att bränslekvaliteten legat på fukthalten 50 % och värmevärdet 8,48 MJ/kg.
Vid framtida produktionsökningar i pappersbruket kommer man samtidigt behöva öka produktionen av processånga. Man har sedan tidigare drifterfarenheter påpekat att man har haft problem med pannans luft/rökgassytem vid höga laster. Resultatet från maxkapacitetstesterna var att pannan primärt begränsas av kvaliteten på bränslet, då detta sätter en begränsning på hur mycket energi som finns tillgängligt. Processmässigt så blev resultatet att motorn till rökgasfläkten samt sandåterföringen var de begränsande enheterna. Vid testet var bränslefukthalten 45 % och man uppnådde då ett ångflöde på 146 ton/h. Det kom även fram att sekundärfläkten inte körts enligt panntillverkarens rekommenderade motorhastighet på 1765 varv/min, den aktuella inställningen har ett synkront varvtal på 1500 varv/min.
Att utreda hur mycket effekt som dessa begränsningar låser fast har varit oerhört svårt att ge svar på, och vad gäller tidsramen för arbetet så har det inte kunnat grävas djupare i denna problemställning. En teoretisk analys har däremot utförts på maximal kapacitet vid olika bränslefukthalter, se Figur 33 och Figur 34 på sidan 78. Dessa figurer belyser hur viktig kvaliteten på bränslet är för att pannan skall kunna ha en möjlighet att leverera en hög last. Då hanteringen av bränslet för att minimera kvalitetsförluster är något man kan påverka med enklare metoder, är rekommendationen att man startar en projektgrupp som ser över bränslehanteringen för att minimera kvalitetsförluster vid egen kortvarig lagring.
The combined heat and power plant at SCA Packaging Munksund AB is a collaboration between SCA and Vattenfall and it consists of a steam boiler with a circulating fluidized bed which was taken in to service in 2001. Today the company wants to make an evaluation about if there is any changes in the CFPboilers performance since the start, they would also like an evaluation about the maximum capacity. The examination work has then been about executing a performance test and a maximum capacity test. The work has also included the construction of an algorithm that would fictively calculate the content of moisture for the in fed biofuel through the fluegas parameters.
The CFB-boiler is dimensioned to have a thermal effect of 98 MW, with the quality of the biofuel having a content of moisture at 55 % and the heating value of 7,3 MJ/kg. At this operation point the boiler constructor guarantees an efficiency of 90,57 %. Evaluations made in 2002 concluded an efficiency at 91,1 %. The results from this report showed an efficiency at 92,07 %, one should then note that the biofuel quality then had a content of moisture at 50,05 % and a heating value at 8,48 MJ/kg.
Future increases in the mills production will mean that they also need to increase the steam production as well. From earlier experiences with the boilers capacity, operators have countered problems with the air/fluegas-system at high loads. The primary result from the maximum capacity test is that the quality of the biofuel sets the limit for how well the boiler can perform. The secondary results indicate that the motor for the fluegasfan and that the bedmaterialreentrysystem are the narrow sections. For the test the contest of moisture was 45 % and the produced steam reached 146 ton/h. Something else that surfaced during the report was that the motor for the secondary air fan was not running at the boiler manufacturer dimensioned speed at 1765 rpm, the actual settings had a maximum synchronous speed at 1500 rpm.
To investigate how much production capacity that is tied up in the narrow sections is extremely difficult to answer, the timeframe for the report limited the digging for an answer for this question. Instead a theoretical analysis was made on the maximum capacity from a perspective of different contests of moisture for the biofuel, watch Figur 33 and Figur 34 on page 78. These figures cast a light on the importance on the quality of the biofuel, so that the boiler has the ability to deliver high loads. Handling of the biofuel to minimize the loss of quality is something that can be affected with relatively simple methods, the recommendation is that a project group is started that looks over the handling of the biofuel to minimize the quality losses during short time storage.

Повний текст джерелаFaults diagnosis and prognosis of electrical drives play a key role in the reliability and safety of production tools especially in key sectors (military, aviation, aerospace and nuclear, etc.). The research presented in this thesis aims to introduce new methods for faults diagnosis and prognosis of an induction motors and roller bearings. These methods use measured data collected from sensors placed on the system (induction motor, roller) in order to construct a feature vector which indicates the state of the system. Supervised and unsupervised classification methods are developed to classify measurements (observations) described by the feature vector compared to known or unknown operating modes, with or without failures. Defects were created in the rotor and the bearing of the induction motor, fed by a voltage inverter. The unsupervised classification technique, based on artificial ant-clustering, allows analyzing the unknown and unexplored observations to highlight classes with similar observations. This allows improving the classification and the detection of new operating modes. The supervised classification, based on hidden Markov models, allows associating a degree of similarity when we affect an observation to one or more classes. This defines a reliability index which allows the detection of new operating modes. These methods are not limited to diagnose faults; they can also contribute to the prognosis of faults. Indeed, the prognosis can be defined as an extension of the problem of diagnosis. The prognosis of faults is carried out by three methods based on hidden Markov models for the detection of an impending failure and by two methods based on the neuro-fuzzy system (ANFIS for Adaptive Neuro fuzzy Inference System and the neo-fuzzy neuron) to estimate the remaining time before its appearance. A set of historical data collected on roller bearings is used to validate the proposed methods. The obtained results show the effectiveness of the proposed methods for faults diagnosis and prognosis of electrical drives

Повний текст джерелаSurvivability in optical network is an important issue due to the huge bandwidth offered by optical technology. Survivability means that the network has the ability to maintain an acceptable service level even after an occurrence of failures within the network. In this thesis, we study the survivability in optical networks. Indeed, our work focuses on two main parts. The first part addresses the survivability in networks composed of one single domain. Firstly, we study and classify the various mechanisms of survivability proposed in the literature. Then we focus on p-cycles design. The major challenge of p-cycle design resides in finding an optimal set of p-cycles protecting the network for a given working capacity. In our thesis we propose a novel heuristic approach, which computes an efficient set of p-cycles protecting the network in one step. Our heuristic approach takes into consideration two main criteria: the redundancy and the number of p-cycles involved in the solution. The mechanisms studied in the first part are typically destined to single-domain protection, because they assume that each node in the network may have a complete vision of the physical topology of the network. Such an assumption is not realistic in the case of large networks, such as a multi-domain networks. Few works have focused on survivability in multi-domain optical networks. The second part of this thesis describes and evaluates existing solutions and compares their performances. We propose also a solution based on p-cycles and topology aggregation which overcomes the different problems of the existing solutions
