Повний текст джерелаAim of thesis is to face practical problems related to the land management and biodiversity conservation, using methods of landscape analysis through approaches of synphytosociology. Studied area is Sila Grande (Calabria, S Italy), for which an exhaustive bibliographic analysis was carried out and cartographic materials collected. Spatial data and different themes were organized in a GIS, proceeding with a first segmentation (environmental patches identification) based on geomorphologic, geological land use, bioclimatic, etc. In addition an analysis of mountainous plant communities has been carried out, based on 1047 phytosociological relevés (554 original) in order to investigate paleo-geographic, ecological and anthropic factors that influence flora and vegetation diversity. Data from literature and field studies (1998-2013) have been critically analyzed in order to clarify syntaxonomic position of the main vegetation types. Twenty-six new syntaxa (associations and subassociations) are proposed and an updated sintaxonomic scheme is presented. Querco-Fagetea and Molinio-Arrhenetheretea are the most represented classes in the area due to the bioclimatic factors. Wet communities (Isoeto-Nanojuncetea, Nardetea strictae, Scheuchzerio- Caricetea fuscae, Montio-Cardaminetea and Littorelletea uniflorae) have a significant biogeographical importance thanks to a rich group of boreal species. This “Nordic imprint” of the flora, vegetation and landscape is of special interest and its peculiarities are analyzed from ecological and biogeographycal point of view. Mediterranean and sub-Mediterranean elements prevail in dry grasslands and shrublands. Some problems about dynamics of vegetation are discussed such as the role of black pine communities and their relations with beech forests, trying also to give clues for conservation strategies and management.

Повний текст джерелаCalabria is one of the Italian region less known from geobotanical point of view. Aim of this research is to carry out a floristic, phytosociological synphytosociological study of the Uria Stream hydrographic basin (Catanzaro). Study area (72.8 square Km), has altitude ranging 0-1,300 m a.s.l., a complex geomorphology (faults, steep slopes, cliffs, gorges) and a wide substrata diversity. Vascular flora counts 846 species (454 genera, 107 families): 1/3 of the regional flora into 1/200 of the surface. Several are species of phytogeografical interest (Pteris cretica, Osmunda regalis, Paraceterach marantae, Woodwardia radicans, Ephedra distachya, Acer lobelii, Helianthemum jonium, Berteroa obliqua, Dianthus vulturius, Lomelosia pseudisetensis, Armeria brutia, Salix brutia, Tilia platyphyllos ssp. pseudorubra, Stipa oligotricha, Typha minima, Veronica anagalloides, Platanus orientalis). Among the endemics (4.6%) also a species (Centaurea calabra) recently described for this territory as part of this research. Outputs of the phytosociological study are a number of associations, series of vegetation and geosygmeta. Have been also recorded rare associations, some of which for the first time in Calabria (Cheilantho maderensis-Notholaenetum marantae, Helianthemo jonii-Thymetum capitati, Petasiti hybridi-Platanetum orientalis) and even new sintaxa (community with Dianthus vulturius and Centaurea calabra, Gypsophilo arrostii-Stipetum olotrichae, Gypsophilo arrostii- Hyperrhenietum hirtae, Anthyllido maurae-Lomelosietum pseudisetensis, Euphorbio arbusculae-Alnetum glutinosae, Drymochloo exaltatae-Platanetum orientalis). In the study area 14 habitats of the Directive 43/92 EEC have been found, covering 29.1% of the hydrographic basin. Among these some are priority habitats (5230, 9180, 9210, 9530), while other are not yet included into Natura 2000 network in Calabria (e.g. 92C0 Platanus orientalis and Liquidambar orientalis woods). In order to protect such a natural heritage from existing threats it has been proposed the ex-novo establishment, on a geobotanical basis, of the Site of Community Importance “Valle del Torrente Uria”, first unit of the futuristic Presila Natural Regional Park.

Повний текст джерелаThe aim of this Phd thesis is the geobotanical study of an area in the Montagna dei Fiori massif, between Marche and Abruzzo regions. Floristic, vegetation and landscape studies were made. As result of theese the habitat identification (Direttiva 92/43/CEE) and several maps were also realized. The detailed knowledge of the study area and the plant species identification, which is important for the phytogeography and for their conservation, were possible through a preliminary floristic analisys. Geobotanical studies will be useful for the conservation management of the area as well. In fact it belongs to two SACs and two SPAs (Natura 2000 network areas) and it is also inside the Gran Sasso –Laga mountains National Park. Vegetation cartography was useful for the identification of the vegetation units and for the landscape analisys. Habitat (Directive 92/43/EEC) map was also realized because it is a valid tool for the evaluation and for the management of the SACs and SPAs (Rete Natura 2000 areas). In conclusion, the present research work is a contribution to botanical-territorial knowledge of the area, useful for defining the management rules of the environment, with a view to maintaining and preserving targeted natural recovery of ecosystems according to the respect of socio-economic conditions of local residents.

Повний текст джерелаHaving identified the Ostrya carpinifolia forests as one of the most widespread forest types in the Apennines-Balkan bio-geographical region and having highlighted the shortage of studies, and the lack of inclusion of these coenoses in the habitats described at European level, the main purpose of the Ph.D research project, summarized in this work, was to provide useful data to understand the ecological value, the dynamics, the potentiality and the threats of these coenoses. In order to provide an image as complete as possible, the project was articulated into three key points. (I) The analysis of the dynamics related to traditional coppice management, its modification and abandonment, useful to identify the optimum duration of the rotation and the ecological effects of the abandonment, carried out through the in-depth study of coenoses during different moments of the rotations examined and after a decades of abandonment in the Apennines areas. (II) The investigation of the effects of ecological isolation on these coenoses, useful in establishing the ecological value of the existing isolated coenoses, the current dynamics and the identification of a minimal area of intervention, carried out by in-depth study of the residual Ostrya carpinifolia woods present in the territory of the Marche region. (III) A preliminary census of these forest formations along the Italian and Balkan territories, carried out by collecting floristic-vegetational, pedological, structural and management data of these coenoses at the whole geographic distribution range. The main result of this large data collection campaign is the creation of datasets related to the ecological and management characteristics, regarding the entire distribution area and all the different management phases. The interpolation and reworking of these data allow to increase the understanding of these forest formations, making it possible to interpret dynamics and evaluate the real ecological value characterizing the Ostrya carpinifolia forests. These aspects are still difficult to deal with, given the data presently available in literature, but fundamental to build dynamic forecast models. Models necessary for the drafting of real useful management and landscaping plans. The studies carried out and here reported show how these formations, commonly labelled as not very interesting under the ecological point of view, are instead characterized by a particularly rich flora, a very lively dynamism and highlight a strong resilience. Therefore, these coenoses should not be interpreted as transitory or recovery phases of more "mature" coenoses, but real stable semi-natural forest formations very rich in terms of biodiversity, now threatened by widespread abandonment, exactly like the secondary prairies habitats.

Повний текст джерелаThe research topic is the possibility of investigating the representation of the landscape from the point of view of the architect, who turns his attention not only to the architectural artefact, but to the environmental contexts in which the architectural artefacts are inserted. The research aims to explore the representation of the landscape through theoretical contents, methodologies and experiments that involve the information systems in use nowadays, in order to understand how exhaustive they in reading and representation of the landscape, highlighting the unresolved problems, the innovative aspects and the potential. The goal is to understand how these systems manage to link the role of Information to the centrality of Representation. If information, understood as a complex of numerical, textual and graphic data, is the fulcrum on which these systems are based, the aim is to understand how it is translated into the graphic, expressive and communicative language of the Representation. Experiments in the Geographic Information System and Information Modeling environment are managed in order to understand how the methodological and technical aspects of individual information systems can be used for the analysis and knowledge of the contexts in which we live. Map representations and three-dimensional models with their information attributes in the Geographic Information System environment deal with the anthropogeographic scale, investigating the relationship between physical and anthropogenic factors, landscape components and vegetation systems. Three-dimensional models, together with the information system, in the Information Modeling environment, on the other hand, deal with individual plant architectures. The theme of knowledge is central in research that deals with contexts, which can be subject to management, protection, conservation, requalification, enhancement. A priority condition, therefore, for these interventions is precisely the precise and systemic knowledge of the components of the landscape.
