Повний текст джерелаWhy don't Gabonese students end their studies after obtained their Master's degree ? Why do most of them register for entrance exams to les Grandes Ecoles (ENA, ENS) ? And why do less of them continue doctoral studies ? What could be their motivation ? What reasoning leads these students to make such choices ? Can one conclude that the program level offered by the University Omar Bongo of Libreville (with its limited possibilities for doctoral studies) leads students to only one of two choices : either les Grandes Ecoles or doctoral studies ? This investigation will attempt to answer various questions dealing with the pursuit and choice of studies by Gabonese students who already hold a Master's degree. An analysis of interviews held with students of les Grandes Ecoles and of doctoral students enrolled in French universities highlights the complexity of academic orientation which takes into account both institutional and individual factors

Повний текст джерелаThe aim of this thesis is to analize the different social frameworks which are the background of the studying experience in french higher technical sections (Sections de Technicien Supérieur - STS). These vocationnal trainings are the preferred or even the exclusive pathways to the higher education levels, chosen by many vocational and technical "baccalauréat" graduates, thus contributing to the growth of a demand for education in low-income families. The monitoring of a group of students from their entry in STS until their graduation highlight the effects of the institution on school and job ambitions. It appears that the high integration potentential of these training courses and eventually the consecration of the students as a local elite in rural secondary schools allow increasing aspirations of weaker students. Thus, STS play a role of social promotion. However, curricula specificities and internal diversities of pedagogical configurations lead students to moderate their professionnal expectations. Furthermore, the isolation of STS in the french higher education system, a consequence of the LMD reform, has reduced the possibilities for the students to move towards long cycles. Consequently, these training courses are not able to completely guarantee the academic vocations they gave rise to

Повний текст джерелаAlthough access to higher education has been a public policy objective for the last 20 years, it is now being implemented in France in its most recent version through the Students’ orientation and achievement law, which introduced the Parcoursup procedure. Transforming the modalities of access to higher education, this reform strengthens the commitment of the different actors involved in the process of orienting students. Parcoursup falls within an institutional conception of orientation according to which providing students with information and support allows them to formulate “free, informed and enlightened choices”. Nevertheless, this linear conception of orientation can be nuanced by observing the social and educational inequalities that punctuate the process of construction of aspirations. In this context, this thesis proposes to grasp the process of construction of aspirations for further learning towards and in higher education by mobilising sociology of experience. Relying on an interpretive approach, the objective is to comprehend this process while specifying the notion of aspiration by inscribing it in the relation that neo-high school graduates have towards time, themselves and the world. Two main results emerge from a double survey comprising a questionnaire and longitudinal follow-up interviews with neo-bacalauréat graduates enrolled in the first year of their bachelor’s degree at a provincial university. Contrary to the injunction to make a project implied by the continuum “bac –3 / bac +3”, this thesis shows on the one hand a certain volatility of the aspirations for further studies depending on the experience of Parcoursup and the student experience. Furthermore, this more or less important volatility reinforces on the other hand the idea of university being a space to democratise aspirations, for young people who go there to build their future as much as to build themselves

Повний текст джерелаThis thesis is based on a collection of articles. The subject is about the transitions to employment of young people living with capacity limitations who, having applied for and obtained facilitations during their university studies, have been recognized as "students with disabilities". The sociological analysis focuses on the stakes, during this period, related to the use of the Recognition of the Quality of Handicapped Worker (RQTH): what happens when it comes to choosing whether or not to check this "box" in the "application form" of the Departmental House of Disabled Persons (MDPH)? This research mobilizes data of various kinds (secondary exploitation of a statistical survey, interviews and ad hoc national survey) collected in successive stages. The forms of (non-)use of the RQTH during these transitions to employment seem to offer a fresh perspective on the influences of disability compensation public policies on the trajectories and subjectivities of individuals. The aim was to conduct a "reception of disability policies" sociology (Revillard, 2017) and to understand its effects on the "relationships to working life" (Longo, 2011). How do the professional possibilities and compensatory possibilities articulate themselves? Based on ideal type reasoning, we developed four "navigator" profiles. We use the nautical metaphor to represent individuals in front of their professional perspectives. Our results, first of all, support the idea of the unequal nature of the public policies concerned with disability compensation, which require identity prerequisites that are diverse in the study population. Secondly, there is a paradox here, since policies ultimately seem to get more significant "grips" to individuals who do not recognize themselves in the latter. Finally, we consider that there is a mismatch between the intent of disability policies and the perceptions of disability held by some young people living with capacity limitations

Повний текст джерелаThis work envisages the pathways of the secondary and university education as authorities of socialization which direct the reading practices of their public on the basis of their previous socialization. The comparative survey between several levels - college, high school, university - and education pathways - literary, economic, scientific and technical - allows characterizing the evolution of the reading practices as the pupils move forward in their school route and the role played by the pathways in this process. So it is shown how the differentiation of the frames of socialization established by the pathways is the origin of that of the social uses of the reading. The analysis of the collected materials opens with the examination of the uses of the reading to the middle school. How to characterize these uses? What do they owe to the "effect of age"? To the social and school profile of the pupils? To the specificities of the environment of school socialization? This panorama allows showing their evolution at the high school and at the university, as well as their differentiation according to the pathways. We will show then what the influencing effect of the pathways owes to the previous socialization of the pupils. We will establish, for every education pathway, ideal models of socialization in the reading that will allow understanding better such or such uses. Finally, we will characterize the adjustment more or less adequately realized between these uses and the disciplinary requirements. These modalities depend on the affinity between previous socialization and school requirements

Повний текст джерелаHow does secondary schoolboys and students discern their vocational guidance ? What are their relations with studies ? How do they plan their future ? The interest of that questioning is to show up, beyond the hard selection before getting in secondary and upper teaching, the different ways of inequalities standing out every day the students and schoolboys' courses. The thread of our research is to stage the internal inequalities structuring the schools courses through the study of the methods of orientation for students and secondary schoolboys, their study conditions, the bachelors' possibilities for choosing directions and professional insertion. Displaying these disparities allow us to examine in the aggregate the present relation between student's status and society. We conduct our extensive inquiry among 319 secondary schoolboys of terminal class (including all sections) and 266 students of three upper institutions (university, high school of technology, school of engineer). We went deeply into all the empirical given informations by means of series of talks with established authorities on the one hand and with student people on the other hand. The results of our research show that the phenomenon of orientation within the secondary and upper teaching can't be reduced to structural problems (selection, renunciation and institutional disparities). But it principally includes more complex problems attaching to the nature of secondary and upper teaching organization, of teaching quality, of finality and objetcs of these two levels, to the part that the forming machinery into the moroccan society must take and finally, to the strategic choices needful for its growth

Повний текст джерелаOur study focus on students' guidance strategies of Ghana and Senegal and also on global sharing forms of study fields in both countries. Our hypotheses are: academics and professionals students' choices are determined by institutional constraints and their academics and socio-economics representations; choices have an impact on global sharing of study fields. At the end of the study, using interviews analysis and data statistics analysis, we can say + actorstudent ; bases his own process on action and cognition. Students'guidance strategies may be explained by the implementation of a decision-making behaviour which concerns institutional and representations variables of contexts. Students' strategies choice can model global sharing of study fields (GSF). In background of the choice and decision-making process is connected an action rationality model (arm) implementing and integrating world visions, rationality types, references values, contextualisation process. Nevertheless without minimizing the action of the governments in the mass process (that keeps on) if we put choices strategies in this framework they give us reasonable elements of explanation. Moreover we can say at the end of this compared study there are little differences about the GSF of the two countries. The observed differences translate more both countries specificities in matter of collectives representations but not on guidance academics constraints

Повний текст джерелаOur work is not about a particular problem of immigration, but it describes the problems of foreign students in a 3rd university grade (the future scientists), and it studies how the knowledge is transmitted. We believe that the slowness of the transmission and the assimilation of knowledge are bigger than we thought. The rate of foreign students is highly misleading. Is it enough to grant scholarships, to multiply exchanges, to open the frontiers in order to achieve studies and prepare scientists with a view to development? Or should there be politics, which allow developing countries to take care of themselves efficiently? It is enough to receive a growing number of students. For the moment, when we look carefully at the evolution of the figures, we see that the number of students, who succeed in their thesis, is not higher than when there were fewer students. Therefore, the growing figures of post-graduates which go back to their country don't grow like the figures of students in France do. In that study, we also classified the problems of foreign students as follows: I. The psychological problems II. The social problems (adaptation-health) III. The social and economic problems IV. The political problems

The "Making of our physicians" was considered in this study through four axes of reflection : university work, practical training, social experience and professional identity. The analysis of the quantitative and qualitative data has shown, through student's given responses to encountered problems in their education, the existence of a student's modal evolution. However, the latter only represents the mainstream of this evolution. The diversity of the ways of being a student in Medicine and becoming a physician prevent us to consider their socialization as being controlled by university or as being channelled by the collective's modes of thinking accepted by all

The case of Guinean students in universities of Paris region Benefiting by the selective quantitative democratization set up by Campus France, Guinean students leave their country to continue their studies in France with the hope of getting an international degree/diploma that could lead to national or international employment.I am attemping to study the presence of students in various French universities, the administrative procedures they follow to come to France, their motivations, their socio-professional category and the level of study of their parents, the financing of their trip and studies, the conditions of their life and studies and also their intentions to return after their studies have been completed here in France.French politicians, in the context of the state, fixe the criteria for immigration of African students to the territory ; it is a way to control immigration. Therefore it represents a doctrine thought by the state, the only legally constituted actor to monopolise the issue of immigration. In the length of time, depending on the contexts, politicians focused on the construction, deconstruction and reconstruction of the models of reception of those students in order to improve direct immigration to French territory.Students seek to achieve their goals, adapt to the university system and validate their semester by abiding by the legal texts of the State. The duality of the objectives, those of the state and those of the students, is an asset for the academic migration in France. It reminds us of the relation of interdependence between the different actors involved in this process

Повний текст джерелаThe changing educational environment that has occurred over the last four decades invites us to rethink the issue of academic achievement. The metamorphoses of student population and organisational systems of university studies have caused important difficulties, especially on the access to university diploma and on students’ professional integration conditions. Given these difficulties, research, greatly oriented to the analysis of failures and student dropouts, has focused on the student issue in order to try to understand the explanatory mechanisms of phenomena observed in universities. Our approach breaks with this sociological tradition by highlighting the weaknesses, flaws and lacks of a population. It analyses conditions for success concerning students registered in SESS-STAPS UFR at UPEC University. This research focuses on the analysis of students’ path so as to isolate in a better way the explanatory factors of their success. Those who succeed are they really different from those who fail or quit university ?The elements of definition for success in this thesis and the collected data enable us to understand that university studies are far from being a foregone conclusion. It is possible to determine important successes of some students given to be underdogs from the start of the academic year. Our methodological investigation apprehends these different mechanisms working within academic careers of bachelor students

Повний текст джерелаThis work aims at studying the lato sensu orientation process with quantitative and qualitative methods, starting from the points of view of the oriented and the main actors of orientation. In present-day society, the individual is socialized from his early childhood through different levels of orientation. Our assumption is that the ways and means of socialization modify the course of individual and collective paths. Through the example of the “classes de seconde générale et technologique” of secondary education, we analyse the orientation process in which only further schooling in various subjects is conceivable. Then we analyse this process at a higher education level : in the Institutes of Technology where the prospects are either finding a job or going into further education ; among the students who drop out after one year’s education at University and finally, among those who get e degree (for 4 years afterwards). Our object is to go beyond the logic of schooling paths by associating it with the way the oriented envisage their future and the actor’s experience in the process

Повний текст джерелаThe object of the research presented in this dissertation is to analyse voluntary changes in professional orientations. The search of another employment is not a rare and marginal experience as it was in the past. The attempts to change professional orientations multiply and voluntary professional changes are ever more present in our society. Moreover, this incitation to a personal experience of "vocation of oneself" that every one wants to live has reached all socio-professional categories. This dissertation pledges for a sociology of the individual. Individuals are the main actors of their own professional changes. They become actors of their own biography and take a turning point in their path to realize their vocation. We present here the process of voluntary professional change of orientation constructed by individuals. This process is understood as a dialectic relation between oneself and significant others in order to succeed their change of jobs and to reach their vocation

Повний текст джерелаFamily support is essential for children's schooling. In addition to providing financial, material, and motivational support (Shumba & Naong, 2013; Feyfant, 2011), many family members seek to influence their children's educational and career choices. Important factors are highlighted to explain why family members want to influence their children's educational and career choices. Thus, several studies reveal the importance of socio-economic factors such as parental socio professional category in determining young people's careers. For example, family income seems to have more influence in the decision-making balance of young people's training and career choices. However, educational influences differ according to socio-cultural contexts (Desmet & Pourtois, 1993). In our research, we chose to explore the influences of family members on their children's choice of educational pathways through a qualitative interview approach. This is an exploratory study based on the theory of action in context of Young et al. (2002). We draw on the theory of action in context to understand family influences. For this theory, the family environment plays a determining role in an individual's educational and career orientation. We conducted 33 semi directive interviews with Burkinabè and Canadian students from all cycles and various training programs at Université Laval using an interview guide consisting of about ten questions. The results reveal that family influences appear to have an impact on the educational choices of the students interviewed. These influences may be implicit or explicit. They are expressed in a variety of forms, whether consciously intended or not. Thus, we have highlighted the types of families that may or may not contribute to promoting a room for dialogue and consultation as far as student's academic and career orientation are concerned. The influences of family members on the choice of educational pathways can provoke some reactions. And this is translated into questioning, which leads to the adoption of diverse attitudes among students, resulting in different profiles of training or career path choices among them.

Повний текст джерелаAs a symbolic and social space, a field of power and articulation, the university configurates mechanisms of academic and admnistrative order, which in fact regulate the trajectories of the students. In general, current explanations are the result of research studies that have favoured variables external to universities such as those concerning economic, social or symbolique categories. These results are acknowledged by the scientific community. This thesis is concerned with the evidence of the effect of the university system, namely of iys mechanisms, in the building of student trajectories. It begins with a description and a characterisation of the mechanisms and trajectories concerne, then bases its analysis on the following question: How do students represent themselves and negotiate their university trajectories in relation to the academic and administrative mechanisms established by the university ? The research in this thesis has been carried out in the context of a Mexican university: the Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana Xochimilco (UAM-X). However, its conclusions can be extended to higer education institutions in Latin America (IES), and to any other universities. This thesis is based on the following postulates: P 1- Both mechanisms and trajectories are permeated and sustained by complex logic structures. P 2- The university trajectories of Sociology students in UAM-X are made up, via a mechanism, by the institution's instigating-coercive system and the actions taken by the students. P 3- Trajectories change according to the mechanisms established by the university and the strategies of the concerned parties, more specifically, the students. With reference to the theoretical context, and influenced by the complexity of each case, it results from these three postulates, and from the working hypotheses, but not from the research hypotheses, in the strict meaning of this term. This research has the following three main objectives : 1. To characterise and analyse student trajectoires in the period 1974-2002. 2. To build, from three data bases, secondary, quantitative and qualitative data respectively, a typology with reference to a pluralistic approach. 3. To produce a comprehensive and partially explicative contribution to the relationship: institutional mechanisms / student trajectories

Повний текст джерелаOn the basis of a comparison between third year medical student and third year (degnee) level students of sociology this research seeks to show the heuristic interest of the point of view of the sociology of knowledge for understanding the forms of intellectual work carried out by students. The sociology of knowledge, in conjunction with the sociology of education, attempts to reconstruct and describe the socio-cognitive logics of the different forms of knowledge and the disciplinary framework which students must master. In this respect, this study shows that between sociology and medecine, as they are practiced and taught in third year courses in the faculties under study, there are differences in the degrees of formalisation and both written and graphic codification of knowledge and relations of learning which are as a result unequally established and definied, regulated and programmed, segmented and framed, in the projects for action they give rise to in each discipline. In fact these global differences induce others which are more particular and concern different manners of knowing and of what an assignment is, the aims of practical work, the various logics involued and withein these logics their greater or lesser stability and predictability or, indeed, uncertainty

First we have try to replace firms capable of receiving them in the social, economic, political and also geographical context in hich they are. Consequently, in spite of collective conventions and other measuremnts in favour of employment, we were able to notice that firms pratices are not senseless when they sign on. Sometimes they belong to the realm of affective. In any case, these pratices change according to the origin of the firm's capital. Thereby, we can affirm that profesional insertion is also under the influence of sociocultural relational and psychological factors. In the second place, through conversation with students graduated from letters and social sciences, we were able to judge the incidence of several type of factors and distinguish some itineraries of insertion. The analysis of biographies they obtained, reveals that profesional insertion can be made as well on criterion of adherence to a group as to campetence while integrating the given informations on environment. This new problematic implies the existence of an individual strategy and fittings facing the social, cultural and economic environment

Повний текст джерелаSince the sixties, universities have gone through both structural and sociological changes on account of the increased number and type of institutions and the fact that students come from a greater variety of backgrounds than before. The development of different theoretical and statistical approaches with regard to the student population has meant an increase in the number of student categories used to describe their experiences and has brought to light a number of atypical cases. In this thesis, "persisting students" (those who register on courses but do not pass examinations, and therefore remain undergraduates longer) are studied through a fieldwork. The case of these students opens a new perspective on the way the university thinks as they are not taken into consideration in either scientific or institutional studies. Statistical data from a small university has revealed this "refusal to study" which can also be observed in a "relay system" and among students who file a request to renew their registration as undergraduates for the first two years at university (DEUG diploma level). A series of interviews with "persisting students" (union militants, students with paid work in secondary schools, students belonging to the relay system) reveal that this way of "studying" has two opposite consequences on the lives of students who either use the system or suffer from it. In both cases, the university not only confers a certain social status to registered students, but it also acts as a social support which enables them to live on the fringe of the university environment in an in-between world which may either shut them in or allow them to open up to an alternative way of life

Our preparatory work and our analysis of available research have allowed us to identify a "set of dimensions" which we have used as "principal axes" of our survey questionnaires. Within each of these dimensions we have specified the principal "strategies and activities" stated by the international actual research as necessary to be implemented by all university courses, which ever is the domain of study, in order to improve the efficiency of students preparation to a permanently changing labour market under the impact of the rapid scientific and technological evolution. The results of the study showed the inefficiency of the evaluated university courses in relation to their mission of students preparation to employment. We put in evidence the fact that dispositions (ethnographic, scholastic. . . ) are interposed between these two forms of experience, structuring and mediating their reciprocal influences. Correspondingly, we argue that registers of identification (symbolic, imaginary and real) also circulate between the history of life of (apprentices) sociologists and their sociological stances. So, these registers of identification can be translated into various dispositions (critical, skeptical and paranoid), which structured also forms of subjugation (for which the sociologist can be a subject of "Other of culture" and "culture of narcissism "or its sociohistorical situation). However, these registers can also participate in the event of their subjectivity. Moreover, this research reveals that various epistemological tensions between teachers 'established' and 'outsiders' of the section studied, especially based on their dispositional differences. The process by which apprentice sociologists incorporate this configuration and meet his professorial figures (symbolic and imaginary) may take the form of gradual entry into an "order of discourse"

In fact, it can be noted that, in spite of the big number of foreign students in France (except European programs), studies on personal experiences and life pathes of these students are still very few. Being based on qualitative data (comprehensive interviews carried out with Jordanian students having passed between five and seven years in France), this research aims at studying in depth the direction of migratory course and stranger’s experience as will as its impact on identity constructions, representations and attitudes. Conceiving the fieldwork as starting point of theorization, our study is focused on the protagonist’s own speech on which study’s object is gradually built. The methodological approach combines analysis of contents and discursive analysis in order to give an account of thematic recurrences, emerging significant categories in speech as well as multiplicity and subjectivity of personal experiences and perspectives. At the end, this work would lead to highlight the principal components of this particular social phenomenon, which is the experience of studying for long years in an environment linguistically, culturally and socially different. Interviews and their analysis would interestingly shed the light on return prospects strategies of reintegration in home society, mutation of social link due to staying abroad, transfer of linguistic competences, social and intercultural knowledge’s and on the synthesis of values in both the society of reception and the milieu of origin

Повний текст джерелаTaking the point of view of media and information studies, this study about academic deliberation aims to reveal the endogenous phenomenom that may explain the lack of participation of French students in the academic boards. My main hypothesis is that student participation is hampered by the University's institutional set up. While I consider student participation to be part of the legitimization process of the academic government, I rely on Habermas's concept of the "public sphere" in order to critically analyse the academic public debate. As a communicational practice and discursive object, student participation is a crucial problem for the academic public sphere which can be distinguished according to three terrains : academic bodies (students included), nation-state institutions and academic institutions. In each of these fields, deliberation on academic government takes place in certain communicational contexts (essays, journals, official reports, intern journals. . . ). In order to compare the academic public discourses and practice about student participation of 1964 to 1972 and of 1990 to 2006, I analyse this documents and presents the results of participant observation. In this deliberative context, the student representative is confronted with a contradictory imperative namely "to assert yourself with respect"

Повний текст джерелаFocusing on male students in so-called “female” study paths in higher education, this thesis investigates the production of atypical trajectories and gendered socialisations. It is based on a double case study of midwifery and social work training programmes in France that combines interviews, observations and statistical analyses. While the literature on atypical trajectories of women emphasises the role of dispositions, this study of dominants in a situation of numerical minority shows the importance of contexts. Many “atypical” men are not the most disposed to opt for a “female” study path: it is above all institutional, relational, and economic logics that encourage this choice, even though individual action patterns – particularly in terms of class and gender – also play a decisive role. An analysis articulating these variables reveals four logics at the root of these atypical choices: flexibility, openness, pragmatism, and strategy. Once in training, the few men who do choose this path are subject to singularisation processes, but are also required to respect a strong norm of gender equality. Depending on the situation, they are expected to alternate between different gendered practices, i.e. to juggle with the “feminine” and the “masculine”. Mastering this gender flexibility has many benefits, but not all men know how to or can take advantage of them. This thesis thus highlights the workings of the gender order: it sheds light on the hierarchy between the sexes, but also on the hierarchy that organises men among themselves in a context of valuing diversity and equality

It presents the historical, sociological, philosophical, psychoanalytical and pedagogical components of the profession. Il also reviews the work done on the concept of social representation and the building of career plans. The second part is a study of the representation and the of the teaching profession by students in competitive exams for primary and secondary school positions. The responses to questionnaires are analyzed multi-dimensionally and used to describe the representation of teaching in terms of content and structure, interpreted via the psychosociological theories of attribution, retionalization and commitment. The interpretations are next brought together in an oveview, including the cosefd temporal " mean - objectives" behaviour model. The paper then presents and analyzes the data gathered during interviews with a representative sub-sample of the group studied

Повний текст джерелаThis thesis analyses the French university graduates working-class students scholarship and career paths. The first part deals with the emergence of a student issue, which is gradually focussed on integration in the work place. Preoccupied with the immediately most rentable training courses, a lot of observers don’t really know the career paths followed by the “children of school democratisation”, as Stéphane Beaud called them. The second part then puts this notion to the test of statistical datas concerning educational paths and of an ethnographic survey on twenty two graduates students of Nantes and Le Mans universities since early 2000’s. It exposes the “high” part of this generation: objectively and subjectively, their studies appear to be honourable. Based on this ethnographic survey and on different longitudinal datas concerning integration in the work place, the third part analyses then their first jobs. It shows what is at stake for this working-class students: how to convert their honourable study into reasonable social upward mobility. Finally, the double meaning of the French expression “échappée belle” sounds clear: a beautiful breakaway, but with the feeling of a narrow escape

Повний текст джерелаThis thesis comes from a simple idea : what one does, what one lives change us. Now, within the collective experiences, one tends to become more and more shared : going for higher studies. It is therefore surprising to note that few studies have examined the impact that majors may have on the judgment of students, whose identity – so much as professional - remains under construction. From a survey inspired by the European Values Survey and the Survey on The Cultural Practices of the French, and conducted with a final sample of students from 11 academic disciplines, our work shows that the controversial idea of a socialization deserves consideration. For if from the first year the disciplines tend to attract populations with already differentiated profiles, they tends at the end to reshape these initial particularisms. Disciplinary contents undoubtedly play a role in this remodeling, through the acquisition or reinforcement of specific skills and dispositions. But concomitantly, the particularization of student profiles over the years appears to be a phenomenon of anticipatory socialization : becoming an advanced student and the appropriation of the future and probable place occupied in the social space go hand in hand

Повний текст джерелаThis research based on the inductive and qualitative perspective of comprehensive sociology and on the structural analysis of biographical narratives, aims at showing how the socials professional identities of graduates in sociology are transformed by their jobs. The building of sociologists' identities proceeds from a double transaction both biographical and relationship based which they elaborate during the processes of scientific and then professional socialisation. The transformation of initial skills is made through a process of acculturation when it contact with socio-professionnal milieus whose expectations in terms of roles and knowledge are different from scientific references : new statuses and skills are elaborated through an inter-penetration of qualifications and jobs. The building of the professional skills of non academic sociology leads to social transactions producing transactional objects. The professionalisation process ultimately leads to the development of the hybrid scientific skills of expertise and the diffusion of an operational type of the sociology. These strategies of professionalisation are here studies in the light of the sociology of professions and strategic analysis. It appears that sociologists open negotiations in actor systems so as to accumulate a cultural and social capital enabling them to open margins of autonomy in the production of applied sociological knowledge. Yet they situate themselves in social positions defined on the basis of stereotyped professional classifications even if these socially constructed categories are not determined by an established profession. Yet, while referring to the professional ethics of academic sociology and to the social ethos of intellectual middle-classes, the sociologists of the sample nonetheless have “cosmopolitan” professional itineraries so as to accumulate experience and in order to knowledge to increase their transactional power

Повний текст джерелаAngolan educational system is in a state of crisis; high watage-ratics, academic lateness and overcrowded classes of mixed ages became generalized. The thesis analises the plans for future studies and the real placements of girls and boys between 14 and 18 years of age, when being moved from the basic education to the middle and pre-university education. The author beg the question that educational guidance depends more on the academic antecedents, more so than the social background factors, even though the laters determine the formers. The author makes the hypothesis of linear causality between the 3 orders of variables. One can confirm the dependence of the basic school-attendance in relation to social origin. The linear causality however is not verified. Educational plans and placements depend on interaction systems which link academic antecedents to individual and family factors. Using an intercultural and differential approach, the author carries on a complementary psychosociological study on educational motivations and outcomes of adolescents, taking into account - as explicative variables - the social representations of success on parents and teachers, as well as their educational attitudes and practices

Повний текст джерелаThe lifelong guidance has become a commonplace of political discourses. It is presented as a way to unify a patchwork of organisms, stakeholders and ideas, and to equip people to face in the labor market. Structured through a plethora of legislative proceedings, this notion carries a vision of rational persons, able to take charge of their careers independently. This thesis questions the concrete forms of guidance, at a time when its access throughout life is enshrined as a right, an,d the continuity it preaches given to obvious. This work intends to combine what disciplinary boundaries deal separately; it proposes a joint analysis of the orientation in educational and professional contexts. The three levels of interaction apprehended (national, local, individual) lead us to confront political wills, translations of these injunctions operated by local actors, and experiences of targeted audiences, both in the educational and professional spheres. We speculate that lifelong guidance is become an organizing principle of professional life. However, we believe this approach can be a powerful vector of inequalities, people being unequally able to successfully anticipate and project themselves, to the image of that request the orientation process

Повний текст джерелаThis paper aims at demonstrating underlying processes of selection and self-selection which concern the various streaming of pupils after general and technological first grade of upper secondary school. The differences of moving up into the scientific course vary, with similar academic achievement, according to social background, gender, age and option. Self-selection of pupils, according to individual backgrounds, does rule moving up into scientific course, in an important proportion. More than three quarters of social bias between children of working class and children of managers and especially the entire lower level of moving up for the girls is explained by this self-selection ; intensity of social bias and gender bias are the same. Thus, it appears to be interesting to study the genesis of self-selection of pupils at first grade of upper secondary school, during the dialogue phase. This one corresponds to the duration of the third scholar term. Transformation of provisional wish to definitive wish, examined in the analysis, is the reflect of the reactions of the educational team for the first desire of the pupil at the second term. Results obtained indicate that self-selection of modest pupils is constructed during the dialogue phase which can be considered as a trap for them, when self-selection of girls precedes the dialogue phase and appears as far back as the first choice

On their arrival in France, they are facing considerable challenges in mastering French, for them, to reach a relatively satisfactory language level is considered to be a really difficulty to overcome. The support structures as well as the use by the students in the French cities where locate many universities are to be discussed here. The anxieties to get the diploma, together with the fulfillment of the hope placed by their families are omnipresent. It can explain the priority which has given to the assigned reading. The paper books reading remains the preferred mode of reading, even if internet viewing plays an important part in the reading schedule. These readings, as an addition part in comparison to the assigned scholar reading, will help to meet the personal interest according to the periods of time and situations. The concrete survey was conducted by steps under the great political tension between France and China. This critical period of situation has been monitored for its impact on reading practices. It confirms a difference point of view observed by the third party- in the reading practices and opinions, depending on the period of their stay in France. Empirical research could benefit from reading letters from students to their families. It is also based on the use of a questionnaire distributed to a certain hundred copies. Observations made in Chinese bookstores, at the Chinese embassy in Paris, and during a stay in a university dormitory on living with a dozen of students also contribute a lot to this research. Various proofs also could be found in the impact of the French knowledge upon returning to China and the activity concerning the cultural and literal structure exchange between France and China

Does it develop still further? Can it be radically modified? The hypothesis is : a setting up process is a skill which is organized by a schema which allows the individual to a grip with the working environment. 2-The reference framework. In this approach, reference is made to the fact that culture and cognitive functioning are closely entwined and that the socio-economical situation of reunion doesn't allow the individual to find ways of constructing a vocational project. The individual is thus "culturally deprived" in so far as he has never been given the benefit of mediated learning experiences. . The vocational project is aleatory and may be refuted. The conduct draws on the scientific paradigm of "falsificationisme" : in the same way as a scientist does, the individual states a conjecture and tests it out if it stands up to the tests, it is corroborated. Otherwise, it is simply falsified. This thought process based on conjectures and refutations is characterized by certain constants and the schema is a way of demonstrating this. It contains the cognitive resources which enable the individual to generate, finalize and adjust his activities in a real life situation. In addition, it serves two purposes : to produce effects on "reality" or to call this "reality" in to question. 3-Proposals. Theoretical aspects the function of the schema involved in the conduct of a project is to question "reality". It is made up of - operational invariants (i. E. The way, the project is set up and the theorem whose plausibility and feasability must be investigated) ; - rules of conduct which allow the individual to develop his investigation ; - inferences whose results may be either the refutation or the corroboration of the project. Proposals for action - to act upon the elements of the schema by means of specific forms of mediation - the structures and the successive steps of a didactic situation

It aims to show that a specific experience, namely the French two-year selective literary preparatory courses, can foster new reading practices and representations. Indeed, from the very start, developing distinctive reading practices is made necessary by these preparatory courses, as well as redefining how reading is usually perceived, based not only on readers’ histories and socio-cultural backgrounds but also on their future projects. Both « Hypokhâgne » and« Khâgne » Years can only be understood by taking into account all the individual’s reading career, from the first reading experiences to those that take place shortly afterthis course.Forty-nine semi-structured interviews of current and former students of literary preparatory courses with a minor in humanities were conducted and provided the material for the present qualitative study, along with the main sociological studies aboutnot only reading practices and representations, but also on the student experience, inasmuch as it provides the basis for differentiated socialisation processes. Reading is viewed not just as a cultural practice but as an intellectual work tool that requires to have developed peculiar habits

Firstly, it examines the extent, nature and characteristics of this higher education’s democratization. In a second time, it strives to grasp the several forms of student experience and carrer prospects found out from the exploitation of different surveys. Systematically, the situations and trajectories of the disabled students have been compared to those of their valid counterparts, but also according to the kind of disability. Finally, several conclusions have been drawn. First, the kind of democratization observed is mainly a segregated one : it diffracts situations according to studies and courses followed. Moreover, it causes an important drop out. Secondly, whatever the subject is (connexion to the studies, academic integration, success, sociability), the differences of experiences recorded between disabled and valid students are more in terms of degree than nature. Finally, the student experience is often linked to positive perceptions of the future and to a clear improving of the occupational integration ; in other words, the graduation « pays ». However, the comparative advantages obtained stay lesser than those benefiting to valid students. This double movement (improvement of the situations but persistence of inequalities) often leads to a sense of frustration
