The object of the research is the use of thermal imagers for quick diagnostics of assemblies and parts heated during normal operation of the vehicle. It is shown that the use of a thermal imager makes it possible to obtain the temperature field on the object under study and, based on a comparison of actual temperatures and temperatures corresponding to normal operation, to assess the technical condition of the object.

Problem. This article highlights the current state of diagnostics of gears on the level of accumulated fatigue damage in operation. The generalization of the known information on determination of a technical condition of separate gear wheels, especially with big modules (m> 20 mm), allows to outline prospects of development of such diagnostics of a technical condition of gear wheels directly in the course of operation. Goal. The goal of this study is to develop an algorithm for diagnosing the technical condition and forecasting a fault-free operation of the gears of heavy-duty machines. Methodology. The least squares method and the confidence interval method are used to predict accident-free guaranteed gear operation. Results. A procedure for diagnosing the technical condition of gears by measuring the hardness of the metal has been developed, which includes five main stages: selection of the device; choice of measurement scheme; selection of the number of measurements, number and relative position of measuring points; development of a design of a template for measurements; development of a device for fastening templates. When determining the accident-free guaranteed operating time on the basis of several criteria of the limit state, the final decision is made on the criterion that determines the minimum term. Originality. The method of forecasting accident-free guaranteed operating time of gears is chosen taking into account the stages of running-in and stable in linear function accumulation of damage in operation. Practical value. The use of the developed procedure for diagnosing the technical condition of the gears of gearboxes of heavy-duty machines will significantly increase the efficiency of their operation due to the transition from scheduled preventive maintenance to maintenance according to the actual technical condition.

Abstract This study presents the use of a machine learning method from the artificial intelligence area, such as the support vector machines, applied to the construction of data-based classification models for diagnosing undesired scenarios in the hydrogen production process by photo-fermentation, which was carried out by an immobilized photo-bacteria consortium. The diagnosis models were constructed with data obtained from simulations run with a mechanistic model of the process and assessed on both modelled and experimental batches. The results revealed a 100% diagnosis performance in those batches where light intensity was below and above an optimum operation range. Nevertheless, 55% diagnosis performance was obtained in modelled batches where pH was away from its optimum operation range, showing that diagnosis model predictions during the first observations of those batches were classified as normal operation and revealing diagnosis delay in pH oscillations. In general, results demonstrate the reliability of classification models to be used in future applications such as the on-line process monitoring to detect and diagnose undesired operating conditions and take corrective actions on time to maintain high hydrogen productivities.

The operation of various vehicles in the field of urban electric transport is accompanied by high costs to maintain their working condition throughout the service life. Preservation of serviceability of vehicles is provided by performance of planned and preventive works on maintenance (MOT) and repair, and also the unscheduled repairs which are carried out for elimination of failures which arise in the interprophylactic periods, and malfunctions. As already noted, in the planned preventive maintenance and repair system, the vehicle after a certain mileage (time) is forcibly subjected to preventive actions in the prescribed amount. At the same time, despite the adjustment of maintenance and repair modes depending on a number of factors, there is no individual approach to each rolling stock. However, there is a need for such an approach, because even when rolling stock under the same conditions, the technical condition of each of them at the same time due to a number of reasons (individual characteristics of rolling stock, driving quality, maintenance, etc.) can differ significantly. Not every rolling stock requires all the operations provided by the "hard" volume of a particular type of maintenance. Execution of these "unnecessary" operations leads, on the one hand, to incomplete realization of individual properties of a rolling stock, increase in expenses for MOT, on the other, at all does not promote improvement of its technical condition. On the contrary, more frequent interventions in the work of joints of units and mechanisms contribute to increased wear of bonded surfaces, the appearance of damage to joints, violation of the tightness of joints. Significant losses of labor and material resources are also associated with a large amount of repair work due to late detection of failures. The fullest use of individual capabilities of rolling stock and ensuring on this basis the high efficiency of rolling stock during operation can be done through the widespread introduction into the technological process of maintenance and repair of diagnosing the technical condition of rolling stock. To increase the efficiency of the vehicle, use, methods and diagnostic tools have been developed, which are used both during maintenance and repairs, and as an independent technological process. Diagnosis allows to increase the coefficient of readiness and probability of trouble-free operation of vehicles, to reduce the complexity and cost of operation, to increase the maintainability and controllability of vehicles.

Heat exchangers are used to stabilize and maintain the temperature regime of various units and systems of cars. The technical condition of heat exchangers in operation is different and unstable. At a certain operating time interval, the technical condition of any of the heat exchangers can become limiting due to the influence of various kinds of operational factors. The article analyzes the possibility of improving the means and methods of diagnostic support of automobile heat exchangers in operation. In the design and manufacture of automotive heat exchangers, they are tested in specialized laboratories equipped with test stands characterized by high capital and operating costs. The use of these stands for diagnosing heat exchangers in operation is not applicable. Due to the limitations and imperfections of the known methods and means of diagnosing automobile heat exchangers in operation, an objective assessment of their current technical condition is difficult and requires the search for new, more advanced diagnostic options. The relevance of the topic of the article lies in the search for ways to improve the diagnostic support, adapted for a quantitative assessment of the technical condition of heat exchangers in operation. The aim of the work is to improve the method and means of diagnosing heat exchangers in operation on the basis of modernizing the design of the test bench for radiator modules. Potentially a possible upgrade option was chosen previously developed by the authors stand for testing modules of automobile radiators, which is distinguished by the effect of resource saving when obtaining the test result. Achievement of the goal requires updating the architecture of the structural elements of the stand, and the search for design and technological solutions that contribute to the achievement of the goal. The methodological research toolkit is based on dialectically interrelated methods: analysis of a problem situation and subsequent design and technological synthesis. Scientific novelty lies in the development of conditions for modernization, allowing to expand the functionality of the basic structure of the stand. The practical significance of the results lies in the choice of the direction of research, with a new set of technical proposals and conditions for achieving the goal of the work.

This paper introduces a probabilistic approach to the classification and diagnosis of erroneous rules of operations that result from misconceptions (“bugs”) in a procedural domain of arithmetic. The model is different from the usual deterministic strategies common in the field of artificial intelligence because variability of response errors is explicitly treated through item response theory. As a concrete example, we analyze a dataset that reflects the use of erroneous rules of operation in problems of signed-number subtraction. The same approach, however, is applicable to the classification of several different groups of response patterns caused by a variety of different underlying misconceptions, different backgrounds of knowledge, or treatment.

Urban road intersections play an important role in deciding the total travel time and the overall travel efficiency. In this paper, an innovative traffic grid model has been proposed, which evaluates and diagnoses the traffic status and the time delay at intersections across whole urban road networks. This method is grounded on a massive amount of floating car data sampled at a rate of 3 s, and it is composed of three major parts. (1) A grid model is built to transform intersections into discrete cells, and the floating car data are matched to the grids through a simple assignment process. (2) Based on the grid model, a set of key traffic parameters (e.g., the total time delay of all the directions of the intersection and the average speed of each direction) is derived. (3) Using these parameters, intersections are evaluated and the ones with the longest traffic delays are identified. The obtained intersections are further examined in terms of the traffic flow ratio and the green time ratio as well as the difference between these two variables. Using the central area of Beijing as the case study, the potential and feasibility of the proposed method are demonstrated and the unreasonable signal timing phases are detected. The developed method can be easily transferred to other cities, making it a useful and practical tool for traffic managers to evaluate and diagnose urban signal intersections as well as to design optimal measures for reducing traffic delay and increase operation efficiency at the intersections.

The current economic situation in the global fuel market leads to the fact that there is a rise in the cost of operating vehicles. All this makes the owners of such vehicles pay close attention to their optimal operation mode, which primarily depends on competent diagnosis of its components. Saving fuel-operating resources of a modern car directly depends on optimally adjusted parameters of operation of all components and assemblies of a car. The purpose of this work was to increase the efficiency of the process of technical operation of vehicles through the use of the method of remote diagnostics on the example of LLC POGA-1. The practice of using diagnostic tools demonstrates the possibilities of reducing operating costs. This is achieved due to an increase in the resources actually used, a decrease in the number of repairs and the saving of spare parts costs. Over the past years in the Russian Federation has been actively developing the field of freight. The largest share falls on road transport (67.7%). A significant proportion of the country's truck fleet is used as a commercial vehicle, which significantly complicates the procedure for timely diagnosis. Thus, in the event of a malfunction or error in the operation of a motor vehicle, the vehicle can be on a flight and there will not be a specialized service station within range of technical diagnostics of the truck to identify the causes of errors and / or malfunctions. The established problem finds its solution in the application of the method of remote diagnosis of commercial vehicles straight from the TO center, which is equipped with the necessary complex for diagnosing.

The purpose of this study was to improve the diagnostics efficiency of modern diesel engine injectors with electronic controls. Experimental studies, performed using certified specialized equipment of injectors' manufacturers and standard software packages for data analysis, made it possible to prove adequacy of theoretical research and get results that are more accurate. Those results contribute to development of a software product that allows identifying a particular faulty element during the defective injector's operation by using mathematical processing of the diagnostic data obtained when testing the injector. Thus, the time spent to repair the fuel injection system reduces. The developed software product also helps to predict the remaining injector's operational life and prevent possible technical failures during operation.

Abstract The studies show that individual elements of a vessel component that are subjected to variable-repeated loads may be destroyed even at lower voltages than any other calculated component (unit). This problem is particularly important for the dynamically developing direction of unmanned navigation, which operation may be carried out with a reduced crew, in its absence – both remotely and autonomously. Conditions of cyclic variable loads in corrosive media also play an important role with a total number of operation cycles, which may reach many millions over the entire operation period. It should be noted that the statistics show that about 80% of accidents in maritime transport are caused by fatigue effects. This paper is devoted to the development of software that is able to predict fatigue failure of units and structures. The paper also descriunmanned vessel the application within an unmanned vessel, as well as the use of described mathematical algorithm in a device with the possibility of projection of augmented reality on vessel units for further prediction. The described method of predicting the strength and simplifying the service is relevant when remote security controls are required.

The subject of the article is the development of a method for diagnosing data errors of a computer system functioning in the residue number system (RNS). This method is based on the tabular principle of data diagnostics operation implementation. The purpose of the article is to reduce the time of performing the operation of diagnosing the data of a computer system that functions in the RNS in the dynamics of the computational process. Tasks: to analyze the possible application of RNS as a number system in computer data processing systems; to investigate existing methods of data diagnostics and identify possible shortcomings in data diagnostics in the dynamics of the computational process with the introduction of minimal information redundancy; to develop a method for diagnosing the data presented in the RNS, which is based on the tabular principle of the implementation of the diagnostic operation. Research methods: methods of analysis and synthesis of computer systems, number theory, coding theory in RNS. The following results were obtained. The work shows that the data diagnostics is carried out after the control operation has been performed. To carry out the operation of diagnosing data in the RNS, when one-time errors occur, methods for determining an alternative set (AS) of numbers are used. In this case, the main disadvantage of the considered methods is the considerable time required to determine the AS. To reduce the time for determining the AC numbers in the work, the method for diagnosing data in the RNS has been improved. Improvement of the method involves the compilation of a table (the first stage) of correspondence to each correct number of a possible set of incorrect numbers when one-time errors occur in the data. Based on the analysis of the contents of the table of the first stage, a table (of the second stage) is drawn up of the correspondence of each incorrect number to the possible values of the correct numbers. Conclusions. The use of the improved method increases the efficiency of diagnostics of the data presented in the RNS by reducing the time for determining the AC numbers. This is achieved by quickly fetching pre-calculated AC table values.

The article describes a complex of non-contact methods for remote diagnosis of high-voltage insulators as well as the two-channel method for remote diagnostics of the operating state of high-voltage insulators, based on the registration of partial discharges by electromagnetic and acoustic sensors. The presented device allows visual inspection and searches for faulty high-voltage equipment and a remote non-contact method of recording high-intensity electric fields of industrial frequency and their spatial distribution based on the electro-optical effect. The scheme of using the system for monitoring and diagnosing the technical condition of high-voltage support insulators of open switchgear is described. The results of experimental studies confirm the possibility of industrial applicability of the proposed method for non-contact remote diagnostics of the state of high-voltage insulators under operating voltage.

Diagnosing appendicitis continues to be a difficult task for clinicians. The use of routine CT scan has been advocated to improve the accuracy of diagnosing appendicitis. When compared with the use of clinical examination alone, CT scan was not significantly different with regard to making the diagnosis of appendicitis in women of childbearing age. The use of computed tomography in making the diagnosis of appendicitis has become the current standard of practice in most emergency rooms. In women of childbearing age, with possible appendicitis, we prospectively compared clinical observation alone (OBS) to appendiceal CT scan with clinical observation (CT). Ninety women (OBS: 48, CT: 42) with questionable appendicitis and an Alvarado Score ranging from two to eight were prospectively randomized. A true positive study/exam resulted in a laparotomy that revealed a lesion requiring operation (confirmed by pathology). A true negative exam/study did not require operation. Hospital stay (OBS = 1.9 ± 1.6 vs CT = 1.3 ± 1.4 days) and charges (OBS = $9,459 ± 7,358 vs CT = $9,443 ± 8,773) were similar. The OBS group had an accuracy of 93 per cent, sensitivity of 100 per cent, and a specificity of 87.5 per cent. The CT group had an accuracy of 93 per cent, sensitivity of 89.5 per cent, and specificity of 95.6 per cent. Although this study is too small to statistically establish equivalence, the data suggest that a CT scan reliably identifies women who need an operation for appendicitis and seems to be as good as clinical examination.

The paper presents that during the operation of torpedo ladle cars in metallurgical production, problems periodically arise with ensuring the safety of their use. The authors have highlighted the relevance and necessity of the solution to the problem of diagnosing the lining state of ladle cars to ensure their safe functioning. To solve the problem of diagnosing the lining state of ladle cars for the maritime industry, an algorithm for detecting burnout zones of a lining based on a neural network has been developed. The authors propose and describe a distributed multi-agent information control system for the operation of torpedo ladle cars. The results for detecting burnout zones of a lining by the standard system and newly developed system are presented. To automate assessing the lining state of the ladle car and support in making decisions regarding operation mode of the ladle cars, the software has been developed.

Weight loss surgery is one of the fastest growing segments of the surgical discipline. As with all medical procedures, postoperative complications will occur. Acute care surgeons need to be familiar with the common problems and their management. Although general surgical principles generally apply, diagnoses specific to the various bariatric operations must be considered. There are anatomic considerations which alter management priorities and options for these patients in many instances. These problems present both early or late in the postoperative course. Bariatric operations, in many instances, result in permanent alteration of a patient’s anatomy, which can lead to complications at any time during the course of a patient’s life. Acute care surgeons diagnosing surgical emergencies in postbariatric operation patients must be familiar with the type of surgery performed, as well as the common postbariatric surgical emergencies. In addition, surgeons must not overlook the common causes of an acute surgical abdomen—acute appendicitis, acute diverticulitis, acute pancreatitis, and gallstone disease—for these are still among the most common etiologies of abdominal pathology in these patients.

Constructive improvement of mobile energy means, in particular their main unit - the internal combustion engine, is directed on: maintenance of differentiation of size of parameters of functioning of mechanisms of systems depending on variability of conditions and modes of operation of cars; increase of technical resource at use of cars on purpose in the set operating conditions. The existing methods and tools for diagnosing vehicle engines do not fully determine their current technical condition, which requires the development of mathematical models to automate the process of diagnosing their components and parts was found іn the analysis of literature sources. The object of diagnosis is a diesel internal combustion engine of the YaMZ-238 family, which is part of the power unit of most vehicles. Mathematical model of automation of the process of diagnosing internal combustion engines of the YaMZ-238 family is presents in the article. Replacing real technical devices with their idealized models allows the widespread use of various mathematical methods. In this case, the internal combustion engine of the YaMZ-238 family, as the object of diagnosis, is presented in the form of a «black box», the input and output parameters of which have a finite set of values. In general, the mathematical model is a system of functional relationships between each diagnostic signal and structural parameters. For internal combustion engines of the YaMZ-238 family, a diagnostic matrix has been compiled, which includes a list of faults and signs of faults. It is determined that the process of diagnosis based on the model of the diagnostic object is possible if the inverse transformation of the number of signs of malfunctions into the number of structural parameters (malfunctions) of the object was unambiguous. The proposed mathematical model of automation of the process of diagnosing internal combustion engines of the family YaMZ-238 will detect faults of components and parts depending on their characteristics.

Indoor climate systems required to provide indoor climate and ensure indoor air quality, failures affect the amount of energy consumed in a building, although insufficient attention is paid to their operation. The energy consumption can be reduced due to ensured proper operation of indoor climate systems avoiding equipment faults. The article reviews scientific articles, those represent typical heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems equipment faults of the most energy intensive office and commercial buildings. Measures of detecting and diagnosis equipment failures as well are identified. A generalized overview of the study area shows the typical faults of the indoor climate system are related to the control of the devices, sensors, deterioration of equipment performance. The most commonly used methods for detecting and diagnosing faults are automated fault detection and diagnosis (AFDD) methods. Possible solutions for troubleshooting HVAC systems are presented.

This paper discusses development, installation, and analysis of instrumentation systems for reliably measuring casing, thermal distortion, and alignment deviation on a large combustion turbine in power utility service. A variety of redundant measurement systems were installed to document casing distortion during the cooldown period after firing. The operating principles of each measurement system are described and presented with the rationale developed for installing and locating sensors. A vertical deflection sensor used for casing bow and bearing misalignment measurement is highlighted in the paper to illustrate its potential for use in other investigations. Additional sensors used include an array of shaft proximity probes, blade tip proximity probes, thermocouples, and axial growth probes. A measurement system for casing ovalization was developed using LVDTs mounted from a thermally stabilized ring. An automated data acquisition system was developed and installed to facilitate the recording of turbine cool-down events over the complete operating season without the need for constant on-site attention. Preliminary results define the turbine cylinder bow and ovalization response during the cool-down event following normal unit operation and correlated casing distortions with thermal gradients.

As a key component to ensure the safe operation of the power grid, mechanical defect diagnosis technology of gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) during operation is often neglected. At present, GIS mechanical fault detection based on vibration information has not been developed. The main reason is that the excitation current is considerable but uncontrollable in the actual operation of GIS. It is difficult to eliminate the influence of excitation on the vibration amplitude and form an effective vibration feature description technology. Therefore, this paper proposes a unified feature-extraction method for GIS vibration information that reduces the influence of current amplitude for mechanical fault diagnosis. Starting from the GIS mechanical analysis, the periodicity of vibration excitation and the influence of amplitude are discussed. Then, combined with the non-linear characteristics of GIS systems and non-linear vibration theory, the multiplier frequency energy ratio (MFER) is designed to extract vibration-unified features of GIS for diagnosing the mechanical fault under different current levels. The diagnosis results of the experimental data with different feature-extraction methods show the applicability and superiority of the proposed method in the GIS’s mechanical fault-detection field based on vibration information.

The article is devoted to the development of a system for ensuring the efficiency of ECM through the introduction of diagnostics of its technical condition into the technological processes of servicing and repairing vehicles. In order to create such a system, we performed studies on the operational reliability of the structural elements of the ECU, the effect of their failures on the engine operating parameters, and the substantiation of diagnostic parameters evaluating the technical condition of the system. The object of the research is the electronic control system M86, installed on domestic LADA VESTA automobiles (VAZ-21179 engine). According to the results of the research, the average operating time of the structural elements of the ECM to failure and the reasons for their occurrence were established. Authors imitated the failure of each ECM elements by turning it off and using the appropriate equipment to measure selected parameters of engine operation. The most significant influence on the operation of the engine is caused by failure of fuel pump, ECU and crankshaft position sensor. The failure of this elements causes the complete loss of engine performance as fuel supply to the cylinders stops. In case of failure of other elements of ECM the engine performance is maintained, but its operating capabilities significantly decrease. To ensure the required level of reliability of the ECM, it is necessary at regular intervals to maintain the vehicles to diagnose the technical condition of its elements at automobile service enterprises. In this paper, it is recommended to split the ECM into three subsystems, each of which is evaluated by one complex diagnostic parameter reflecting the technical condition of the structural elements included there. The deviation of the parameters beyond the tolerance limits caused by the occurrence of faults serves as the basis for deciding whether to conduct the necessary technical actions. Diagnostics of the ECM subsystems is carried out in accordance with the developed algorithms that establish a rational sequence of control, adjustment and other operations to identify and eliminate damages arising in the process of operation. As an example, the article presents an algorithm for diagnosing the fuel supply subsystem and reducing the toxicity of exhaust gases. The developments proposed in the article were tested and introduced into the technological processes of maintenance and automobile repairs of the LADA dealership center in the city of Vladimir.

Introduction; Appendectomy is the most common surgical emergency and negative appendectomy is a one of recognized consequence of appendectomy. Recently an increased use of radiology is seen in diagnosing appendicitis and it has significantly decreased the rate of negative appendectomy. Every effort should be made to establish an exact diagnosis. If, however, this is impossible and a suspicion of appendicitis exists, exploration is mandatory. It is far better to subject a moderate number of patients to a theoretically unnecessary operation than to let one patient suffer perforation. Aim; Recently we have seen an increased use of radiology in our department for diagnosing appendicitis. The idea of conducting this audit was to calculate our negative appendectomy rate by correlating it with use of radiology and to compare it with international figures and to set up guide lines for use of radiology in diagnosing appendicitis on basis of results of our audit . Methods; Records of all patients who underwent appendectomy in Dubai Hospital, UAE from jan 2018 to jan 2019 were retrospectively analyzed using electronic record system. Clinical diagnosis and radiological findings were compared with histopathology as gold standard for negative appendectomy rate. The sensitivity and specificity of different radiological procedures was calculated as well. Results; Total 165 patients underwent appendectomy in specified duration. Over all negative appendectomy rate was 17 % with male being 9.7 % and female rate 31% . CTSCAN was found to be 100% specific and 91.4 % sensitive in diagnosing appendicitis while clinical diagnosis was accurate in 88.5 % cases.

At the compressor stations (CS) of the gas transmission system (GTS) of Ukraine, 702 gas pumping units (GPU) have been installed, of which 20 types are gas turbine units, accounting for 76.7% of their total number. Each GPU is equipped with an automatic control system (ACS), which ensures its efficient operation. Today, more than 60% of GPUs, in particular of high power (25.0 MW), have worked out the installed service life, or those close to it. Their further operation does not ensure reliable and efficient operation, and therefore numerous failures and accidents occur, leading to significant economic losses. Considering that ACS were supplied together with the GPU, which are now morally obsolete and have practically exhausted their resource, the task of improving the ACS of the GPU, taking into account their technical condition, is urgent. The solution to this problem requires the integration of existing autonomous means of monitoring and diagnosing the technical state of the GPU into their ACS. The analysis of the known systems and means of diagnosing the technical state of the GPU from the point of view of the possibility of their integration into the existing ACS of the GPU is given. The possibility of using modern hardware and software, in particular the Siemens concern, in the development of a system for diagnosing the technical condition of the GPU-Ts-16S, as a component of its ACS, the results of testing which at the Dolinsky industrial site of the Bogorodchansky LPUMG have shown its effectiveness is shown. It is noted that the introduction of engineering solutions for the GPU type GTK-25-i, which allow extending the service life of its ACS, and replacing the old-style ACS with new ones does not lead to a significant increase in the reliability of the GPU. An example of the improvement of the ACS GPU type GTK-25-i on the KS-39 "V-P-V" of the Bogorodchansk LPUMG by equipping the GPU type GTK-25-i with additional sensors of technological and vibroacoustic parameters and upgrading the applied software, including algorithms for parametric, vibroacoustic diagnostics GPU type GTK-25-i and an algorithm for diagnosing its ACS. Long-term operation of the improved system has confirmed its effectiveness.

Introduction. As a rule, strategic plans use the potential plant capacity to adapt the enterprise to adverse conditions, and these plans require constant adjustment. Strategic plans that rely on insufficient information about pant capacity may result in significant financial losses for the company. The research objective was to develop a principle for diagnosing sustainable growth based on potential capacity. Study objects and methods. The research featured three metallurgical enterprises, since metallurgy is of strategic importance for the domestic industrial development. The study involved such standard methods as system and situational analysis, expert assessments, correlation analysis, regression analysis, topological analysis, and statistical simulation. Results and discussion. The authors proposed an algorithm for calculating three types of potential capacity indicators: relative added value and revenue (y1), situational potential (y2) and performance (y3). The new methods made it possible to forecast the indicators of sustainable development and compare the mode of operation with standard value, i.e. the length of the estimated vector, which exceeded or equaled a certain fraction of its maximum possible value. If the vector length was less than this value, the stability started to decrease. The performance indicator demonstrated if the enterprise reached the maximal value of the indicator when it exceeded the boundary of the sustainability standard. Conclusion. The new approach provided a prompt assessment and forecast of the potential plan capacity. It could improve the forecast of potential instability, increase the flexibility of strategic plans, and prevent strategic shock.

The state of a vehicle braking system is one of the key factors determining the safety of the driver, passengers and other road users. During operation of a vehicle, the elements of its braking system undergo the process of wear and they are exposed to damage. Deterioration of the braking system efficiency has a direct impact on the collision speed. Thus, diagnosing a braking system during a vehicle operation is of key importance. Therefore, the authors of this article have undertaken the task to identify the influence of the state of a braking system particular element on the collision speed and kinetic energy of the impact. The obtained results of simulation calculations have proven a significant role of a braking system diagnosing in elimination of vehicles whose braking systems do not function properly as using inefficient brakes poses a significant threat to road traffic users and vehicles.

The paper presents data on the problems of monitoring and diagnosing the technical conditions of critical production facilities, such as torpedo ladle cars, steel ladles. The accidents with critical production facilities, such as torpedo ladle cars, lead to losses and different types of damages in the metallurgical industry. The paper substantiates the need for a mathematical study of the operation process of the noted critical production facilities. A Markovian graph has been built that describes the states of torpedo ladle cars during their operation. A mathematical model is presented that allows determining the optimal frequency of diagnostics of torpedo ladle cars, which, in contrast to the existing approaches, take into account the procedures for preventive diagnostics of torpedo ladle cars, without taking them out of service. Dependence of the utilization coefficient on the period of diagnostics of PM350t torpedo ladle cars was developed. The results (of determining the optimal period of diagnostics for PM350t torpedo ladle cars) are demonstrated. The system for automated monitoring and diagnosing the technical conditions of torpedo ladle cars, without taking them out of service, has been developed and described.

The correct operation of the continuous welded track requires diagnosing its condition and preparation of track metrics requiring measurements of displacements of rail under operation. This is required as there are additional thermal stresses in the rails with values depending on the temperature changes of the rails. Therefore, the climatic conditions are important. This paper presents the original effective analytical method for diagnosing the condition of continuous welded track based on experimental research. The method allows for an appropriate repair or maintenance recommendation. In the experimental research, the authors considered track diagnostic conditions for two conditions: track under load and track without load. This paper presents empirical formulas for calculating rail temperature and longitudinal force based on ambient temperature, developed from long-term measurements. The formulas were developed for a track located on a straight section—both for a rail loaded and unloaded with a passing train under the following conditions: 60E1 rail, not on an engineering structure, conventional surface, wooden sleepers and very high train traffic load. The obtained results in the value of the correlation coefficient R2 ≥ 0.995 attest to very high accuracy of the calculations performed with the method proposed by the authors.

This paper proposes a three-dimensional CT imaging (3DCT) method to show the anatomical structures. With the CT volume scanning data, 3DCT imaging with volume rendering of separating, fusing, opacifying and false-coloring (SFOF-VR) techniques was done on the workstation. SFOF-VR, with separately and jointly showing the complicated anatomy and their spatial relations, is valuable in finding the variations of bone, artery and vein, and diagnosing their diseases. When comparing with routine volume rendering (R-VR), SFOF-VR provides more clear and direct anatomical basis for imaging diagnosis and surgical operation.

A new method for the diagnosing of leaks from liquid transmission pipelines is proposed in this paper. The solution consists in the acquiring of the new diagnostic information (i.e. the new diagnostic signals). These signals result from the operation of special testing objects joined to a tested pipeline. This paper presents the results of the application of the proposed method upon the laboratory pipeline. During experimental tests it has been determined that thanks to the use of these new diagnostic signals improving the efficiency of diagnosing of leaks is possible.

This paper is devoted to actual problem of ensuring of trouble-free functioning and a high level of fault tolerance of industrial facilities’ electrical equipment (EE) by diagnosing them during their operation. However, when diagnosing equipment, a number of challenges arise related to the following problems: a large number of monitored parameters, the presence of not only statistical information but the values of linguistic variables that are used by staff on duty, insufficient and incomplete input information. Proposed approach to diagnosing EE based on a composition of fuzzy cognitive model with a fuzzy vertices, links and fuzzy-functional cognitive model with functional links for generating intermediate information, and as well as fuzzy-production model of an upper level for taking final diagnostics decisions. The proposed approach is based on the functional model of EE diagnosing in IDEF0 notation which reflects the sequence of all necessary functions related to the diagnosing and provides the identification of the key data flows and a more comprehensive understanding of the process. The paper also provides a formulation of the fuzzy-set method that is based on the construction of functional dependencies formed in clear mapped set “the occurrence frequency of for equipment's dangerous situation”. This method’s novelty lies in the new formulation of the problem in accordance with the latest scientific achievements and its solution that was not previously considered in the well known sources of literature. The suggested method is allows to calculating the predicted values of controlled parameters of EE in case of statistic and fuzzy source data. The proposed approach to the EE diagnosis at industrial objects makes it possible to improve the accurate and complete EE diagnosis through the knowledge of the staff on duty, thereby resulting in timely repair and maintenance.

Abstract Diagnosing faults during the operation of a system is an essential task when investigating technological systems. In this paper, a new online fault identification method is proposed which is based on the occurrence graph of the coloured Petri net model of the system. The model is able to simulate the normal and faulty operations of the system given in the form of event lists, so called traces. The diagnosis is based on the search for deviations between the traces of the normal and the actual operations. In the case of complex technological systems, the occurrence graph can contain hundreds of nodes; therefore, the computational effort and searching-time increase significantly. Our proposed structural decomposition method can manage these demands so it has a crucial impact on the practical application of diagnostic processes. The main idea of our method is that the complex systems can be decomposed into technological units. Therefore, the diagnosis can be done by components separately and the diagnostic result of a unit can be used for the diagnosis of the other units connected to it. Because of the structural decomposition, the diagnosis has to be performed on much smaller occurrence graphs but the effect of faults in previous units is taken into account. The proposed method is illustrated by a simple case study.

Background: Aiming at diagnosing at an early stage, minimizing the misdiagnosis rate and improving the prognosis, the author has investigated the clinical characteristics, diagnosis and treatment of primary liver cancer mimicking liver abscess with a summary and discussion.Methods: All of the 11 cases of primary liver cancer mimicking liver abscess, diagnosed during January 2009 to December 2015, were retrospectively viewed in terms of clinical manifestations, laboratory tests, radiological feature, diagnosis and treatment. And statistic analysis was made in all aspects mentioned above with that of pyogenic liver abscess and other types of liver cancer diagnosed in the corresponding period. Results: The clinical manifestations of the 11 cases were mostly characterized by fever, abdominal pain and weight loss. There was no significantly statistic difference between the study group and any of the three matched groups in underlying disease and lab results. All of the 11 patients were treated with enhanced antibiotics as basic therapy. Furthermore, eight cases accepted surgical operation, among them, one object underwent puncture and drainage of the liver abscess by ultrasound (PDLA) twice pre-operation, one object underwent PDLA and hepatic arteriography pre-operation and death in hospital post-operation, one object suffered myocardial infarction post-operation. In addition, three cases received conservative treatment only, in which, one object died in hospital.Conclusions: It is difficult to distinguish primary liver cancer mimicking liver abscess from pyogenic liver abscess as there are no specific clinical manifestations and laboratory findings which is prone to leading to misdiagnosis. What’s worse, the prognosis is so poor that high alert and close follow-up are required as well as early diagnosis and treatment.

The Nephrology Advisory system helps the Patients /users to get the required and suitable advice depending on their queries.This research describes how the neural computing system designed to support the medical decision process using medical imaging databases and creating the optimal systems for ministry of the health to help the physician to making the correct decision with high certainty also give suitable medical device and can use for training the medical stuff easily either in hospital or in the clinical center. the main aim of the proposed system is the ability to diagnose of the kidney disease by questionnaire and clinical data of the patient. The proposed system makes a differential diagnosis among the main kidney diseases. The diagnosis is made taking into account the clinical exam (the symptoms that can be seen of felt) and the preclinical exam (the results of laboratory tests). This system is designed to give help to a medical expert (doctor) in making the appropriate diagnosis of a patient. The kidney diseases have a lot of common symptoms and many of them are very much alike, and that makes it very difficult even for a kidney doctor (specialist) to put a right diagnosis. The main operation of the proposed system is ability to diagnosis kidney disease by using symbol and friendly user interface and also has ability to explain the result and the answer of most two questions how the proposed system reaches to the results and why the proposed system to reaches to this results.

The article shows the need to develop diagnostic methods for monitoring the quality of lubrication systems, which makes it possible to study the dynamic processes of contacting elements of the friction systems of instrument mechanisms, taking into account roughness parameters, the presence of local surface defects of elements and the bearing capacity of a lubricant. In the present article, a modern diagnostic model has been developed to control the quality of the processes of production and operation of friction systems of instrument assemblies. With the help of the developed model, it becomes possible to establish the relationship of diagnostic and design parameters of the mechanical system, as well as the appearance of possible local defects and lubricant state, which characterize the quality of friction systems used in many mechanical assemblies of the mechanisms of devices. The research results are shown in the form of nomograms to assess the defects of the elements of friction mechanisms of the mechanisms of the devices.

An optimized electric ship operation system reduces fuel consumption and improves energy efficiency. Increasing the reliability and robustness of shipboard power systems (SPS) is crucial for working under different operating conditions to ensure the safe and satisfactory operation of the system. This study aims to provide a fault analysis method consisting of fault detection and classification, in which the wavelet-based fuzzy-logic (WFL) approach approximates the location of the fault. This work presents a novel fault detection scheme that includes fault detection, classification, and location. A wavelet approach is proposed for a fault classification methodology. Identifying the fault location using a combined wavelet and fuzzy logic method is a significant challenge. In order to effectively demonstrate this technique, various fault condition simulations are conducted using MATLAB. This study proposes a combination of discrete wavelet transform and fuzzy logic to produce significantly better performance than existing methods. However, a fuzzy feature selection technique is also introduced to reduce processing time and increase accuracy. The obtained results indicate that the proposed methodology offers high fault location accuracy. According to the experimental results, the diagnostic model proposed in this study is effective at classifying and diagnosing faults in a short time, and the response time is fast.
