This objective of this research is to use Jeppesen’s Total Airspace and Airport Modelersimulator of airport and airspace operations (TAAM). TAAM has the capability to create models of airspace and airports, which makes it easy to planning, analysis, and making a decision. TAAM can help researchers evaluating the impact of changes to infrastructure, operations and schedules, after mimicking the airspace or airport into model.The simulation of this paper is going to imitate the operation of KATL in two different layouts with three different flight schedules based on a valid baseline model. In this case, the study is based on VFR operating condition, and operating towards west.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the hazards in operating post-harvest lines in an agricultural organization, with emphasis on pre-cleaning and drying of grain. The paper deals with a description of technology of pre-cleaning and drying grain. Risk assessments at post-harvest line were processed by using the point method. The point method is used to review the hazards for working positions in terms of safety at work. This work identifies threats, proposes measures and solutions to eliminate or minimize the consequences of each risk. Evaluations of the hazards are processed before and after the measures were taken. Based on the results, it can be stated that the risk was reduced below the level of acceptable risk after the measures were taken.

The sensitivity analysis of key operating parameters on the average annual sub-profit in a group of three combine harvesters operating in companies providing agricultural services were analysed. Based on the results of the cost analysis, the following key operating parameters with the greatest influence on the costs were identified: the purchase price of the machine, the price of fuel, maintenance costs, personnel costs and annual performance. These parameters were used in the sensitivity analysis to investigate their effect on unit costs. Changing the above-mentioned parameters is calculated within ± 30% from their mean value. To perform a sensitivity analysis of the average annual sub-profit of combine harvesters, the unit price of mechanized work was additionally used. The results showed that greatest impact on both the average annual earnings of combines operation and on the changes in unit cost was those of the annual performance of the combine harvester, combine harvester purchase price and the cost of fuel. On the other hand, maintenance and personnel costs had a smaller influence concerning these changes of parameters.

Purpose. The aim of the article is identification of requirements and composition of sources of analysis, critical assessment of their information content, as well as emphasis on the application of a systematic approach to the analysis of operating costs and compliance of its method with these criteria. Methodology of research. The empirical research methods are used in the course of the research, in particular: analysis – in order to identify the composition of sources of analysis of operating expenses; generalization – to substantiate the classification of sources of analysis and to formulate recommendations on the choice of methods of analysis, which most fully allow to estimate the operating costs. Findings. The principles of formation of information base of the analysis of operating expenses are substantiated, which will allow to obtain high-quality information on their status and on the basis of the obtained results to predict the activity of the enterprise in the future. The study of the impact of factors on the analysis of operating expenses allowed us to distinguish sources of information into two groups: internal and external. It is determined that internal sources of data for analysis are accounting records, which are formed at enterprises, and which is considered by the authors as a source of analysis of operating expenses. External sources of information the authors consider all possible information resources of an external nature, research of the competitive environment and reporting of subjects with similar types of activity. Originality. The scheme of interconnection sources and analysis results of operations is proposed, which comprehensive utilization, will allow obtaining result analytical information on which management can optimize the cost of compliance with objectives and increase effectiveness of operations. According to modern realities, the most suitable methods of analysis are offered, which allow to adequately assessing the situation of the enterprise in the strategic plane with respect to operating expenses. Practical value. Carrying out an assessment of the operating costs of an enterprise with using various methods and tools of analysis in a complex provides obtaining unbiased data that can be effectively used for the purpose of cost optimization and increase of productivity. Electrical submersible pump (ESP) operation is compromised by free gas, resulting in premature pump failure and production losses in new wells. It is essential to detect the onset of abnormal operations. We develop a model that predicts abnormal ESP operation when the free gas level increases in the pump. The model compares operation parameters with the parameters of normal operating ranges; it shuts down the ESP when necessary. We used a Schlumberger PIPESIM software (version 2017.01) to perform nodal analysis technique; we tested the model using the other multiphase correlation model and field case studies (where the gas problem in ESP was reported). We employ a homogenous model to calculate the differential pump pressures at various gas volume fractions. Nodal analysis of the intake and discharge point predicted the commencement of abnormal ESP conditions and the associated parameters (critical gas fraction, minimum operating pump intake pressure, and pump discharge pressure). The model results were similar to other surging correlation models (e.g., Romero, Dunbar, Turpin, Cirilo, and Zhou models); they were also identical to field case studies. We identify three performance stability phases when an ESP is exposed to free gas. These are the normal and abnormal operating ranges, as well as the ESP shutdown condition. Modeling permits careful monitoring of ESP operations that can be compromised by free gas.

Hydraulic turbines need to operate at regimes other than designed ones. Off-design functioning of these turbines yields an inefficient and uneconomical operation of hydro projects. Performance and energy losses at different possible operating conditions need to be evaluated before finalizing the design of water turbines for satisfactory operations. Moreover, hydraulic turbines are unique machines designed for unique set of operating conditions and cost a huge percentage of the overall cost of the project. This work is compiled with twofold objectives; derivation of complete performance characteristics of a 48m head prototype Francis turbine in order to establish an optimum operating regime and, determination and analyses of head loss at different components of the turbine. Steady state flow simulations for four different load operations (60%, 80%, 100% and 120%) have been carried out using computational fluid dynamics. It is found that the optimum regime of operation lies within the speed factor range of 0.412-0.48 along with discharge factor range of 0.27-0.329 and maximum efficiency is obtained as 90.64% at full load operation. Maximum head loss in critical components of the turbine such as runner and draft tube is found as 12.7% at speed factor of 0.568 and 26.31% at 0.202 speed factor respectively. Also, the maximum total head loss in all the components is found as 47.8% at 60% load and 0.609 speed factor. It is concluded that the functioning of the turbine at higher speed factors is more detrimental than that at lower speed factors. Requirement of performance improvement at off-design conditions (especially at 60% load operation) is also suggested in order to widen the range of optimum operating regime. Obtained computational results are validated with experimental results and a strong agreement is found between the two.

The next generation of the Volt vehicle with the new “Voltec” extended-range propulsion system was introduced into the market in 2016. The second-generation Volt’s powertrain architecture provides five modes of operation, including two electric vehicle operations and three extended-range operations. Vehicle testing was performed on a chassis dynamometer set within a thermal chamber at the Advanced Powertrain Research Facility at Argonne National Laboratory. The study first focused on assessing the improvement of the new Voltec system by comparing the system efficiency with the previous system. Second, control behavior and performance were analyzed under normal ambient temperature to understand the supervisory control strategy on the Voltec system based on the test data. The analysis focused on the engine on/off strategy, powertrain operation mode, energy management, and engine operating conditions. Third, test data from the control analysis were used to summarize the vehicle control logic.

AbstractObjective:To identify those patients most at risk of developing a compressive post-operative haematoma following thyroid surgery.Method:Retrospective analysis of patients undergoing thyroid surgery. Factors associated with the group of patients who developed a post-operative haematoma were examined using a matched pairs, case–control design.Results:Following 355 thyroid operations, seven patients developed a post-operative haematoma requiring return to the operating theatre for bleeding control. A post-operative systolic blood pressure of greater than 150 mmHg, in the post-anaesthetic care unit, was the major significant factor identified by regression analysis (p = 0.002). Current smoking status was also a significant factor (p = 0.04).Conclusion:In our facility, a post-anaesthetic systolic blood pressure in excess of 150 mmHg was associated with an increased risk of haemorrhage following thyroid surgery.

With changes in the outdoor air temperature, the heat consumption of buildings also changes. Timely adjustment of the heating systems to ensure optimal operating conditions is extremely significant to save energy. In this study, the operation conditions of a heating system were analyzed numerically, and the existence, uniqueness, and stability of the optimal operation conditions of the heating system were proved. An operation optimization model that could obtain the optimal operation conditions was also established, and the correctness of the model was verified experimentally. Experimental results showed that when the flow rate was 0.606 m3/h, the supply water temperature was 67.13°C, water return temperature was 65.90°C, and the pump consumed the least amount of electricity. The experimental results and model calculation results showed that the operating cost is lower when the system flow rate is low and the supply water temperature is high under the same heat dissipation and indoor temperature.

The installation and operation of geothermal systems increased due to the expectation of good cooling and heating performance due to stable heat source temperatures. In actual geothermal system operations, heat source temperature rises or falls due to an imbalance of heating and cooling energy usage. Problems of source side temperature result in reduced geothermal system performance. The purpose of this study is to develop hybrid geothermal system operation technology to stabilize temperature and improve system performance by utilizing auxiliary heat source system. The auxiliary heat source system is operated by comparing the performance when operating the geothermal heat pump system alone and the performance when operating the hybrid geothermal heat pump system. The performance of a hybrid geothermal system is determined by the circulating water temperature of the geothermal system and the circulating water temperature of the auxiliary heat source system. Hybrid geothermal heat pump system performance is predicted through numerical analysis and collection of hybrid geothermal system performance data at various temperature ranges through field test. An operating method was developed using the predicted performance as the changeover operating point of the hybrid geothermal heat pump system. When applying the development and operation technology, it handled about 11% more load than the existing geothermal system operation. The addition of an auxiliary heat source increases the initial investment cost compared to the existing geothermal system, but decreases energy consumption, confirming that the initial investment cost of 15.3 years is recovered.

Abstract Bearings are damaged most often as a result of operation under improper lubrication conditions (no correlation between lubricant parameters and operating conditions). this often leads to the operating temperature of the grease being exceeded. Such operating conditions are either the result of the bearing operating under overload conditions (too high load causing the dropping point to be exceeded, leading to lubricant leakage and deterioration of the bearing operating conditions), or the result of improper lubrication of the bearings (application of too little grease and lack of re-lubrication of the bearing or the application of improper grease). The article presents an exemplar analysis of the influence of the exploitation process on their slow degradation.

The two terminal, fourth basic circuit element, memristor acts as nonlinear resistor with built-in memory functionality. Memristor has many advantages like non-volatile, no leakage current, Even when the power supply turn off, it retains its memory and typically apparent only at small scale. It shows significant effect in digital circuit application because it stores logic values without power consumption and logic values are measured based on the memristance value. Memristor is a class of non-volatile memory storage and is suitable for nanoscale memory applications. It is considered one of the most promising technology to implement memory and logic operations in a single cell. In this technology stored information is calculated as a low resistive state (LRS) and high resistive state (HRS). A detailed operating conditions of tunneling modulation model of memristor is studied and analyzed the operating frequency and voltage ranges in this paper. Switching behavior is measured based on the transition time of memristance change from one state to another state at different working frequencies.

Prior research finds that changes in ATO are informative about one-year-ahead changes in RNOA, while changes in PM are not. Design/methodology/approach – Consistent with prior research, regression analysis is used to develop a predictive model for one-year-ahead changes in RNOA. Results based on in-sample parameter estimates are used to examine the out-of-sample forecasting accuracy of alternative model specifications. Findings – The results are consistent with significant forecast improvement resulting from considering the impact on future RNOA of the direction of the ΔPM. Originality/value – The study contributes to the literature on the determinants of profitability ratios by providing further guidance on how financial statement information can be utilized to improve forecasts of firm performance.

One option to meet the requirements of Europe 2020 is construction of energy efficiency buildings. These buildings are low heat energy demand, which is influenced by various factors. The article describes the impact of different operating modes on the heat demand for heating in the building of the pavilion elementary school. The impact was assessed in simulation calculation program. The aim was to obtain knowledge about the behavior of the building in terms of thermal comfort in different operating modes during the heating season. The knowledge gained will enable more effective operation of HVAC systems. Increased efficiency of operation allows energy savings.

The purpose of this study was to catch analysis at the time of fishing operations and immersing surface gill nets in Semarang Waters, Central Java, Indonesia. The research was carried out in March 2021. The research method was experimental fishing. The treatment variables included the morning operating time with 30 minutes and 60 minutes of immersion time, and the evening operating time with 30 minutes and 60 minutes of soaking. All treatments were repeated 7 times each. Data analysis using the Two Way Anova test. The composition of the catch obtained was Milkfish (Chanos Chanos), Long Jawed Mackerel (Rastrelliger sp.), Anchovy Fish (Mystacoleucus padangesis), Threadfin (Eleutheronema tetradactylum), Queen Fish (Scomberoides lysan), Grouper Fish (Epinephelus sp.), Pony Fish (Leiognatus tauvina), Emperors (Lethrinus sp.), Silver Pennah Croaker (Aspericovina jubata), Black Pomfret (Formio niger), Torpedo Scad (Megalaspis cordyla), Spanish Mackerel Fish (Scomberomorus sp.), John’s Snapper (Lutjanidae sp.), Streaked Spinefoot (Sinagus sp.), Tholi Shad (Tenualosa macrura), and Tongue fish (Cynoglossus lingua). The most catches (biomass) were treated in the morning operating time with 60 minutes of immersion. Data analysis showed that there was a significant effect on the best catch with fishing operation time in the morning (sign 0.05) and immersing time for 60 minutes (sign 0.05). Human errors are commonplace among hoist drivers in the hoisting task of coalmines. To reduce these errors and prevent accidents, it is necessary to identify the features of cognitive behaviors and main cognitive errors of the hoist drivers. This paper analyzes the accident cases and operating flow of coalmine hoist, and establishes a cognitive process model of coalmine hoist drivers. Further, the cognitive behaviors and functions of the drivers were analyzed stage by stage, revealing the distributions of their main cognitive behaviors and functions. It is learned that most coalmine hoist accidents concentrate in two stages: lifting, and operation monitoring. The operating processes in the two stages were further deliberated. The specific operations were extracted as the influencing factors of human errors, and the importance of each index was calculated through analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The research results provide a theoretical reference for identifying the key factors affecting the human errors of the operations by coalmine hoist drivers, and shed new light on how to prevent such errors.

An irreversible model of proton exchange membrane fuel cells working at steady-state is established, in which the irreversibility resulting from overpotentials, internal currents and leakage currents are taken into account.In this paper, the irreversibility of fuel cell is expounded mainly from electrochemistry. The general performance characteristic curves are generated including output voltage, output power and output efficiency. In addition, the irreversibility of a class of PEMFC is studied by changing the operating conditions (controllable factors) of the fuel cell, including effect of operating temperature, operating pressure and leakage current. The results provide a theoretical basis for both the operation and optimal design of real PEM fuel cells.
