The research is relevant due to the fact that the long-term development of urbanized areas depends on the availability of relevant and reliable spatial data stored in geographic information systems at various levels, and modern information technology and cartographic, geodetic support determine the effectiveness of activities in the field of urban planning and land management. Purpose: to develop a classification of variants of WEB-representation of 3D-model of geological structure of territorial formation on the example of Tomsk. Methods: empirical research methods, methods of theoretical research and experimental-theoretical levels, which were used to analyze some aspects of the 3D inventory. Methods of system analysis and methods of three-dimensional modeling were also used. Results: On the example of the territory of Tomsk the analysis of a number of scientific works on three-dimensional geological modeling, taking into account domestic and foreign.

Traditionally, the standards of spatial modeling are oriented to represent the quantitative information of space. However, in recent years an increasingly common challenge is appearing: flexibly and appropriately integrating quantitative information that goes beyond the purely geometric. This problem has been aggravated due to the success of new paradigms such as the Internet of Things. This adds an additional challenge to the representation of this information due to the need to represent characteristic information of the space from different points of view in a model, such as WiFi coverage, dangerous surroundings, etc. While this problem has already been addressed in indoor spaces with the IndoorGML standard, it remains to be solved in outdoor and indoor–outdoor spaces. We propose to take the advantages proposed in IndoorGML, such as cellular space or multi-layered space model representation, to outdoor spaces in order to create indoor–outdoor models that enable the integration of heterogeneous information that represents different aspects of space. We also propose an approach that gives more flexibility in spatial representation through the integration of standards such as OpenLocationCode for the division of space. Further, we suggest a procedure to enrich the resulting model through the information available in OpenStreetMap.

Spatial information about the availability and presence of green open space in urban areas to be up to date and transparent was a necessity. This study explained the technique to get the green open spaces of spatial information quickly using an index approach of Landsat 8. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the ability of the method to detect the green open spaces, especially using Landsat 8 with a combination of several indices, namely Normalized Difference Build-up Index (NDVI), Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI), Normalized Difference Build-up Index (NDBI) and Normalized Difference Bareness Index (NDBaI) with a study area of Jakarta. This study found that the detection and identification of green open space classes used a combination of index and band gave good results with an accuracy of 81%.

Tokyo Metropolitan Earthquake will cause enormous damage and have far-reaching consequences. Therefore, local governments have to regulate wide-range cooperation for use of available open space area. In this study, 1) the problem schemes of open space is clarified based on the logistic process of Theory of Constraints, and 2) Geospatial distribution and size of open space area is analyzed quantitatively based on land-use database, 3) the conceptual design of the comprehensive open-space database management system is formulate considering decision-making process.

Information theory provides robust measures of multivariable interdependence, but classically does little to characterize the multivariable relationships it detects. The Partial Information Decomposition (PID) characterizes the mutual information between variables by decomposing it into unique, redundant, and synergistic components. This has been usefully applied, particularly in neuroscience, but there is currently no generally accepted method for its computation. Independently, the Information Delta framework characterizes non-pairwise dependencies in genetic datasets. This framework has developed an intuitive geometric interpretation for how discrete functions encode information, but lacks some important generalizations. This paper shows that the PID and Delta frameworks are largely equivalent. We equate their key expressions, allowing for results in one framework to apply towards open questions in the other. For example, we find that the approach of Bertschinger et al. is useful for the open Information Delta question of how to deal with linkage disequilibrium. We also show how PID solutions can be mapped onto the space of delta measures. Using Bertschinger et al. as an example solution, we identify a specific plane in delta-space on which this approach’s optimization is constrained, and compute it for all possible three-variable discrete functions of a three-letter alphabet. This yields a clear geometric picture of how a given solution decomposes information.

Kalijodo green open space has vegetated area 48 %. The ideal green open space, has vegetated area ​​80-90 % of total area. The results of the thermal comfort index in the Kalijodo green open space is 30.75. This condition makes the Kalijodo green open space in very uncomfortable status, and the thermal comfort index is categorized as comfortable is in 29 and below. This research was conducted to determine and analyze the perception of thermal comfort that felt by the public in the green open space of Kalijodo. Descriptive analysis method is used to examine any information obtained from data processing from questionnaires filled out by 50 respondents. The results of this research on the perception of thermal comfort show that as many as 24 respondents felt very uncomfortable, 14 respondents felt comfortable, and 12 respondents felt uncomfortable when they were in the green open space of Kalijodo. These results indicate that the majority of people living in green open spaces are in line with the results of research on thermal comfort in the Kalijodo green open space which is in the very uncomfortable category. The condition of the Kalijodo green open space, which lacks vegetation, results in a very uncomfortable thermal comfort index value, so that the people there also feel the discomfort.

The advent of digital and networking technologies has begun to embrace the genesis of the next-generation digital archive. The inclusion of cross-domain objects like manuscript documents, audio and video recordings, photographs, paintings, sculptures and other digitised cultural heritage materials increases the complexity of digital archiving in terms of preservation, collection, and discovery of these resources. Introducing a high definition information retrieval system to exhibit the library and museum’s digital resources to a maximum number of users in an open-access environment can satisfy the S. R. Ranganathan’s fourth law – save the time of reader as well as the staffs. Nevertheless, from the perspective of acquiring an advanced OPAC view (web-scale discovery interface) with index-based searching, metadata harvesting, and accessing the physical as well as digital holdings is always a better option for Archival Collections Management System (ACMS). This paper illustrates the fundamental notions and applications of ArchivesSpace, a useful open-source digital archiving toolkit of the contemporary world and analyses its relevance in digital language archiving.

Green open space is an important part of the natural–social ecosystem, providing ecological services that maintain the healthy development of cities and society. Residents’ perceptions of these benefits are largely related to their social-economic background as well as their familiarity with the development of green open spaces in their neighborhoods. Understanding residents’ perceptions of green open space will contribute significantly to urban planning by providing practical information that facilitates residents’ needs. Using the urban development zone (UDZ) of Wuhan, this study aims to understand residents’ preference toward green open space and their perceptions of ecological services and improvement, with the focus on the linking between social factors, preference, and views. In this study, data are collected through online questionnaire surveys and interviews. The results demonstrate how respondents’ views vary and which social factors significantly relate to them. Significant changes in natural space changes are reflected in the public’s perception of the ecological functions of these spaces. Responses to improving green open space reflect the residents’ pursuit of natural affinity and practicality. We conclude that it is better to enhance public involvement by providing residents’ views, which helps to recognize actual needs in long-term green open space planning.

Purpose Collaborative spaces such as Fab Labs, Living Labs, coworking spaces, hackerspaces, makerspaces, etc. are localized spaces that offer open access to resources. The purpose of this paper is to explain what motivates participants in such spaces, according to different innovation logics. Design/methodology/approach The paper is based on qualitative studies of 43 collaborative spaces in Paris and Barcelona. Findings This paper proposes a typology of different collaborative spaces to understand what motivates their participants. The classification is based on the innovation approach of each type of space: methods and techniques of ideation, social innovation, open innovation and user-driven innovation. Research limitations/implications The classification of collaborative spaces clearly identifies different innovation approaches. However, it might result to be too simplistic and may not represent all spaces under the same denomination. Practical implications This paper provides some guidelines for managers who run or intend to open a collaborative space. In bottom-up innovation modes, to increase the commitment of the participants, managers should provide the tools and resources needed to successfully achieve the goals of the members’ projects. In top-down innovation modes, managers should rather focus on designing an attractive and rewarding process of ideation. Originality/value This paper contributes to the understanding of collaborative spaces; it shows that participants’ engagement is related to the nature of the innovation activities that take place in collaborative spaces, and it compares different types of spaces to explain their differences and similarities.

Abstract. In an emergency situation shelter space is crucial for people affected by natural hazards. Emergency planners in disaster relief and mass care can greatly benefit from a sound methodology that identifies suitable shelter areas and sites where shelter services need to be improved. A methodology to rank suitability of open spaces for contingency planning and placement of shelter in the immediate aftermath of a disaster is introduced. The Open Space Suitability Index uses the combination of two different measures: a qualitative evaluation criterion for the suitability and manageability of open spaces to be used as shelter sites and another quantitative criterion using a capacitated accessibility analysis based on network analysis. For the qualitative assessment implementation issues, environmental considerations and basic utility supply are the main categories to rank candidate shelter sites. A geographic information system is used to reveal spatial patterns of shelter demand. Advantages and limitations of this method are discussed on the basis of an earthquake hazard case study in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City. According to the results, out of 410 open spaces under investigation, 12.2% have to be considered not suitable (Category D and E) while 10.7% are Category A and 17.6% are Category B. Almost two-thirds (59.55%) are fairly suitable (Category C).

The use of open science in the scientific activities of institutions allows to increase the level of information access and transparency of information about the results of scientific research and its promotion in the world. In turn, we need leverage and effective mechanisms to increase the level of transparency in the dissemination of science and the ability to obtain input from research. This article analyzes the work of representatives of national and international scientific schools on the study of open science and its impact on the scientific activity of organizations. The conceptual category of «open science» is considered. The main components of open science in the system of scientific activity of organizations are studied, which include: easy access to scientific products, transparent review of research results, open methodological complex, accessible educational process and the possibility of using software products without limited access. The scientific principles of openness, which characterize the formation of open science, which include the principles of quality and integrity, benefits for society, equality and justice, diversity and inclusiveness. The practical mechanisms of the influence of open science on the scientific activity of institutions are studied. A comparative analysis of the practical implementation of open science in the European Union, the United States and the African continent. Author's proposals on the ways of development of open science and its impact on the scientific activity of institutions are formed, which include: increasing the transparency of information about the scientific results of institutions and scientific results of scientists; formation in society of positive views on the academic integrity of scientific products and services; raising the level of European integration processes of the domestic scientific space. The main conclusions of scientific research and outlined further ways of scientific research are formed.

Public open spaces are essential for residents’ social interactions and recreational activities, improving well-being as well as offering economic and environmental benefits. Saudi Arabia is aiming to enhance the quality of life in all its cities through different national programs and projects. One of the key performance indicators is increasing public open space per capita from 3.47 to 3.9 m2 by 2020. This study measured the current public open space per inhabitant in Jeddah using a geographic information system (GIS) to identify the types of public open spaces that make up the per capita value in the city. Jeddah is located in a rapidly developing country, and it is a replanned city where the current status of public open spaces falls short of users’ expectations and does not meet international standards. This study suggests that the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and municipalities should adopt a systematic approach to tackling the spatial distribution of open spaces in Saudi cities. In addition, there is a need for the proactive involvement of planners, landscape architects, and designers in the planning process.

The purpose of this study is to explore the association between proximity to open space and adult renal function. This was a cross-sectional study. Adult residents of Taipei metropolis were recruited in the analysis. The proximity of each subject to open space was measured using the Geographic Information System. Residents were divided into two groups: with and without chronic kidney disease (CKD). We made univariable comparisons between the two groups. The logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio of CKD. Forest plot was used to examine the effect of interaction between distance to open space and subgroup variable on CKD. A total number of 21,656 subjects with mean age 53.6 years were enrolled in the study. Of the subjects, 2226 (10.28%) had CKD. The mean and standard deviation of distance to open space were 117.23 m and 80.19 m, respectively. Every 100 m distance to open space was associated with an odds ratio of 1.071 for CKD. Subgroup analysis revealed that residents of female, without hypertension, or without impaired fasting glucose (IFG) living more than 200 m from open spaces have greater odds of CKD than those living less than 200 m. Conclusions: Proximity to open space was associated with a lower prevalence of CKD among adults in Taiwan. Such association was enhanced among females and healthy adults without hypertension or impaired fasting glucose (IFG).

Text generation tasks aim at generating human-readable text from different kinds of data. Normally, the generated text only contains the information included in the data and its application is thus restricted to some limited scenarios. In this paper, we extend the task to an open domain event text generation scenario with an entity chain as its skeleton. Specifically, given an entity chain containing several related event entities, the model should retrieve from a trustworthy repository (e.g. Wikipedia) the detailed information of these entities and generate a description text based on the retrieved sentences. We build a new dataset called WikiEvent1 that provides 34K pairs of entity chain and its corresponding description sentences. To solve the problem, we propose a wiki augmented generator framework that contains an encoder, a retriever, and a decoder. The encoder encodes the entity chain into a hidden space while the decoder decodes from the hidden space and generates description text. The retriever retrieves relevant text from a trustworthy repository which provides more information for generation. To alleviate the overfitting problem, we propose a novel random drop component that randomly deletes words from the retrieved sentences making our model more robust for handling long input sentences. We apply the proposed model on the WikiEvent dataset and compare it with a few baselines. The experimental results show that our carefully-designed architecture does help generate better event text, and extensive analysis further uncovers the characteristics of the proposed task.

As the essential content of intelligent animal husbandry, identifying each livestock is the only way to achieve modern and refined scientific husbandry. This paper proposes a sheep face recognition method based on European spatial metrics and realizes noncontact sheep identity recognition by training the network using sheep face image samples in the natural environment. The SheepBase data set was first proposed in this process, which contains 6559 images of Inner Mongolia fine-wool sheep and Sunite sheep. To enhance the diversity of the data, the sheep face images were data-enhanced. Secondly, to solve the problems of more redundant information in the sheep face image and the poor posture and angle of the sheep face, we propose the sheep face detection and correction (SheepFaceRepair) method. This method aims to detect the sheep face area in the image to be recognized and align the sheep face area. On this basis, we offer an open sheep facial recognition network (SheepFaceNet) based on the European spatial metric. This method incorporates the biological identity information features of the sheep face to achieve sheep identity. We also tested the effectiveness of this method in the SheepBase data set. The experimental results show that the method proposed in this paper is much higher than the other methods, and the precision of recognition reaches 89.12%. In addition, we found that integrating the biometrics of the sheep face can effectively improve the network’s recognition capacity.

This research was conducted in Polewali District Polewali Mandar Regency. This study aims to determine the availability of green open space in 2018 in Polewali District Polewali Mandar Regency and calculate the need for open green space in 2018 by area, population and green open space projected needs for 2028. This type of research is quantitative descriptive. This study uses the application's help Geographic Information System (GIS), groundcheck field and observation. The results of this study indicate the need of green open space in Polewali District Polewali Mandar Regency to meet the standard of 30% by area of 788.1 Ha should be available, but the green open space available in 2018 only 500.67 Ha or 19% of the area with details 383, 49 Ha or 15% of public green open space and 117.18 Ha or 4% private green open space. The results of calculation of green open space needs based on population in 2018 amounted to 123.8 Ha. The projection of green open space needs in 2028 amounted to 138.8 Ha. Green open space needs in 2018 based on an area not yet fulfilled, while based on population needs were already met by a ratio of 1/5 between the need for open green space with availability of green open space in Polewali District Polewali Mandar Regency.

In this paper we propose a method to reconstruct the flow at a given time over a region of space using partial instantaneous measurements and full-space proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) statistical information. The procedure is tested for the flow past an open cavity. 3D and 2D POD analysis are used to characterize the physics of the flow. We show that the full 3D flow can be estimated from a 2D section at an instant in time provided that some 3D statistical information—i.e., the largest POD modes of the flow— is made available.

Based on Salatiga Urban Land Use Plan 2010-2030, Salatiga still having lacked 30% of the green open space from its area. The addition of the city park is one of the green open space planning that can support the lack, so the research about Salatiga city park location determination with Geographic Information System (GIS) was as one part of the planning of the city park addition. The purpose of the study is ideal location determine for the city park in Salatiga which it was based on population density, population preferences and city park manager, land characteristics, and government regulation about the green open space. The research method was used the descriptive method through quantitative and qualitative approach by utilizing GIS software, questionnaire, and an interview. The research result showed the city park can be developed in protected areas (especially in urban forest sites) or in cultivation areas. However, the city park development must be in accordance with government regulations, land character and land suitability requirements for the city parks. Potential locations for urban parks in Salatiga city can be distinguished by two categories: 1. Recommended class area with 944,584 ha (16.64% of total area) and 2) Highly Recommended class area with 123.37 ha (2.17% of total area).

Urban open spaces of local natural environments can promote the health and well-being of both ecosystems and humans, and the management of the urban spaces can benefit from knowledge of individuals’/citizens’ perceptions of such environments. However, such knowledge is scarce and contemporary inquiries are often limited to cognitive observations and focused on built environmental elements rather than encouraged to recognize and communicate comprehensive perceptions. This paper investigates whether arts-based methods can facilitate recognition and understanding perceptions of urban open spaces. Two arts-based methods were used to capture perceptions: drifting, which is a walking method, and theatrical images, which is a still image method and three reflective methods to recognize and communicate the perceptions. The results show related sensations and perceptions enabled by arts-based methods comparing them to a sticker map method. The main findings were perceptions, which included information about human–environment interaction, about relations to other people and about ‘sense of place’ in urban open spaces. The hitherto unidentified perceptions about urban open space were associations, metaphors and memories. The methods used offer initial practical implications for future use.

Актуальность проблемы исследования обусловлена тем, что в условиях функционирования современной системы образования остро заявляют о себе проблемы создания высокотехнологичной информационно-образовательной среды, способствующей наиболее эффективному формированию необходимых компетенций обучающихся. Обостряют проблемы и возникающие вызовы, связанные с организацией образовательного процесса в условиях пандемии. В связи с этим пристальное внимание вызывают вопросы использования электронных информационных образовательных ресурсов. В исследовании обобщается и конкретизируется терминология, связанная с данной проблемой. Обзор литературы показал, что в современных отечественных исследованиях рассматриваются различные аспекты проблемы применения электронных информационных ресурсов в образовании. Наряду с этим изучение, обобщение, выявление перспектив использования электронных образовательных ресурсов в педагогическом вузе в рамках дисциплин, связанных с музыкальным искусством, впервые стало объектом специального рассмотрения в контексте развития открытого образовательного пространства. В статье проанализирован положительный опыт Чувашского государственного педагогического университета им. И. Я. Яковлева в применении электронных образовательных ресурсов в учебном процессе, в том числе электронных учебных изданий и образовательных интернет-технологий. Апробация результатов исследования позволила автору выявить необходимые условия, проблемы и перспективные направления применения электронных информационных ресурсов в педагогическом вузе. The article considers the problem of the use of electronic information resources in a pedagogical university in terms of the development of an open educational space. The relevance of the research problem is due to the fact that in the context of the modern education system the problems of creating a high-tech information and educational environment that contribute to the most effective formation of the necessary competences of students are becoming rather acute. There also emerge challenges associated with the organization of the educational process in the current pandemic. In this regard, close attention is paid to the use of electronic informational educational resources. The study summarizes and clarifies the terminology associated with this problem. The review of the works devoted to the considered issue showed that modern Russian studies examine various aspects of the problem of using electronic information resources in education. Along with this, the study, generalization, and identification of prospects for the use of electronic educational resources in a pedagogical university in the framework of disciplines related to musical art, in the context of the development of an open educational space, has become the object of special consideration for the first time. The article analyzes the positive experience of I. Yakovlev Chuvash State Pedagogical University in terms of the use of electronic educational resources in the educational process, including electronic educational publications and educational Internet technologies. Testing the results of the study allowed the author to identify the conditions, problems and promising areas for the use of electronic information resources in a pedagogical university.

Green Open Space "RTH" plays a very important role in realizing a sustainable city and has a balance of functions both ecologically and psychologically for urban communities. Green Open Space can be divided into two, namely public green open space and private green open space, but only public green open space can still be controlled directly by the government. The purpose of this study is to identify the availability of public green open space in the city of Denpasar and to formulate strategies and policies for managing public green open space in the city of Denpasar. Data collection techniques were carried out using interviews and questionnaires, qualitative and quantitative descriptive data analysis with SWOT analysis for the use of public green open space, and the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) to determine management strategies and policies. The availability of public green open space in 2011 was recorded at 2,341.48 or 18.32 percent. The availability of public green open space in 2019 was recorded at 1,572,990 ha or 12.49 percent. The difference in 2011 and 2019 was 768,490 Ha or 5.83 percent. The minimum area for public green open space following the 20 percent rule is 1.68 percent (in 2011) and 7.51 percent (in 2019). The implementation of Denpasar Public Green Open Space (RTH) management has not met the standards of the Minister of Home Affairs Regulation Number 1 of 2007 and Minister of Public Works Number 5 of 2008. The strategy for managing Green Open Space is to develop detailed spatial plans, install information boards, enforce laws, and implement incentives disincentives to relevant stakeholders

The development of private vehicle ownership is very rapid, but it is not balanced by adequate supporting infrastructure such as roads and parking lots. Especially for parking lots, parking horizontally will be difficult to develop because of the limited land availability. The addition of parking lots can be done vertically by building a multi-storey parking building. So far, the existence of multi-storey parking buildings has not provided an information system on the availability of parking spaces. The form of multi-storey parking lots often makes the driver have to go around few times to find an empty space. This situations wasting of energy and time. This study aims to design an information system as application models in human-computer interaction, that will inform someone there is empty or already filled parking space, so that it can save time and make it easier for drivers to find parking spaces to park their cars. This information system prototype design consists of three main parts, called sensors, controllers, and displays. Car parking control system that works with an automatic portal (parking gate) along with a display screen for information on the location of empty parking spaces and those that have been filled. The portal will open if information states the parking lot is still available, and the portal will not open if information states the parking lot is full.

Purpose – The purpose of the paper is to provide a comparative retrospective analysis of Bulgarian, Turkish and Croatian Open Access (OA) journals added in Directory of Open Access journals (DOAJ) in the period 2002-2013. Design/methodology/approach – First of all, the study is focussed on brief review of definitions and descriptions of the OA as a global movement. In the study were analyzed the three main OA initiatives and was shown the difference between Golden Road and Green Road. Second of all, the authors used the comparative approach and made a comparative study of the OA journals in Bulgaria, Turkey and Croatia and present the evaluation results and findings. Findings – Qualitative and quantitative data for the study are collected by the DOAJ. The data are analyzed in terms of quantity and period, and the results are presented graphically and tabular and finally there are made major specific conclusions and recommendations. Originality/value – The paper shows that OA in the digital space has an important position in scientific research. There are many discussion issues related to the problems of OA, but overall study of OA to scientific information, and in particular comparative study of Bulgarian, Turkish and Croatian journals in the DOAJ does not exist at the moment.

This work provides an overview of the fundamental aspects and of some recent advances in space-time coding (STC). Basic information theoretic results on Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) fading channels, pertaining to capacity, diversity, and to the optimal Diversity Multiplexing Tradeoff (DMT), are reviewed. The code design for the quasi-static, outage limited, fading channel is recognized as the most challenging and innovative with respect to traditional “Gaussian” coding. Then, a survey of STC constructions is presented. This culminates with the description of families of codes that are optimal with respect to the DMT criterion and have error performance that is very close to the information theoretic limits. The paper concludes with some important recent topics, including open problems in STC design.

This study examines the effect of employing density of use data in making serial relegation decisions. It demonstrates that density of use favours the retention of used titles which occupy a small amount of shelf space compared with titles occupying a large amount of shelf space. Density of use may favour the retention of low‐use titles possessing a high density of use compared with a high‐use title occupying a large amount of shelf space. While the paper presents an easy method for identifying titles possessing a high total use but having a comparatively low density of use, the strategy fails to identify titles having a high density of use but which also have some scope for partitioning between open and closed access. It therefore outlines a simple method of partitioning these titles between open and closed access to increase the density of use of the open access collection.

Batam City is an industrial city and has a total area of 1,570.35 km2 with a land area of 715 km2. Following the economic development and increasing population, the green open space in Batam City is decreasing. The purpose of this research was to analyze the adequacy of Batam’s green open space based on the criteria of Law No. 26 of 2007 concerning Spatial Planning and Minister of Public Works Regulation No. 5 of 2008 concerning Guidelines and Utilization of Green Open Space. This research was conducted with a spatial analysis method based on land cover information from the interpretation of Landsat 8 OLI image recording on 05-06-2018. Based on the results showed that Batam’s green open space is still 221.400 ha or 32.05% from land area. It means, Batam City’s open space is still sufficient at least 30% according to Law No. 26 of 2007 and Minister of Public Works Regulation No. 5 of 2008. The largest type of land cover in green open space is secondary dry land forest, covering 79.200 ha (11.45%). Keyword : Batam City, analysis, green open space.

The provision of public information contributes to the enrichment and enhancement of the data produced by the government as part of its activities, and the transformation of heterogeneous data into information and knowledge. This process of opening changes the operational mode of public administrations, leveraging the data management, encouraging savings and especially in promoting the development of services in subsidiary and collaborative form between public and private entities. The demand for new services also promotes renewed entrepreneurship centred on responding to new social and territorial needs through new technologies. In this sense we speak of Open Data as an enabling infrastructure for the development of innovation and as an instrument to the development and diffusion of Innovation and Communications Technology (ICT) in the public system as well as creating space for innovation for businesses, particularly SMEs, based on the exploitation of information assets of the territory. The Open Data Trentino Project has initiated and fosters the process of opening of public information and develops as a natural consequence of this process of openness, the creation of innovative services for and with the citizens. In this paper we present how our project acts on long-chain, from raw data till reusable meaningful and scalable knowledge base that leads to the production of data reuse through the implementation of services that will enhance and transform the data into information capable of responding to specific questions efficiency and innovation.

Open space provides people and the places where they live with numerous, well-documented benefits, very similar to those of trees and other landscaping. Often lost in the complicated development and growth arena, planning for the conservation of the green infrastructure of open space is important for healthy communities. The process of open space conservation provides arborists and urban foresters with opportunities to involve the community in planning and activism. Conserved open space provides arborists and urban foresters with maintenance and management opportunities and responsibilities. Although expensive and time-consuming, key informant interviews helped provide a logical process for a deeper understanding of open space conservation in a developing Pennsylvania watershed. This qualitative process can be used by urban foresters and others in more inclusive and successful planning and decision making. As an investigative tool, the interviews provided information about attitudes, issues, and obstacles expressed by local leaders. The interviews also provided evidence that concerns expressed by experienced planners since the 1960s about land use planning and open space conservation in growing areas continue to be relevant today.

This research aims to apply Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) and built application system with ArcGIS platform to determination of urban Green Open Space (GOS) location in densely populated area. The study was conducted in Samarinda City, used secondary data and obtained from the Sanitation and Gardening Agency. Data were collected by survey and interview with experts and using Waterfall Framework for software development method. The research has resulted the priority sequence of GOS location of densely area of Samarinda City. The first priority location is the location under Juanda Flyover Bridge. Research has also developed Web based GIS software application of GOS location determination using SAW technique.

Bats have evolved four different echolocation strategies allowing the access to four different trophic niche spaces differing in niche dimensions. Bats foraging in open and edge spaces use the “aerial hawking or trawling strategy” and detect and localize prey by evaluating pulse–echo trains in which the prey echo is unmasked. The pulse–echo pairs deliver mainly positional information on the prey and only little information on its nature. Signals are highly variable and are adapted for detection and localization in open space and (or) edge space. In narrow space, bats identify prey by solving a pattern recognition task. Bats using the “flutter detecting strategy” evaluate glint pattern in prey echoes; bats using the “active gleaning strategy” evaluate the spectral–temporal pattern of the prey–clutter echo complex; and bats using the “passive gleaning strategy” evaluate the pattern of prey-generated cues to find food and use echolocation only for spatial orientation. The less variable signals of narrow space bats are adapted for pattern recognition. The diverse and species-rich tropical bat assemblage at Barro Colorado Island, Panama, is here used as an exemplar for assigning bats to guilds, and we discuss the role of echolocation and other adaptations for niche differentiation within guilds.

Purpose Focusing on two particularly challenging issues facing Chinese academic libraries – space constraints and the trending of digital scholarship services, this paper aims to explore which spaces students and faculty wanted and how to leverage low-use spaces and growing digital scholarship services to build the Center for Digital Scholarship (CDS) to meet their demands. Design/methodology/approach The participant observation method was used in the launch stage of the space redesign from May 2016 to October 2018. The usage analysis method was used to reveal the use of the renovated spaces and assess the success of the space redesign when CDS was open to users between October 1, 2017 and September 30, 2018. The usage was gathered from the space reservation system. Findings A hybrid academic service center combining information commons, a collaborative workplace, social spaces and digital scholarship services, the CDS is able to meet the complexity and diversity of users’ needs and fulfill the mission of its university in the context of insufficient funds, space and specialists. While it approaches the goal of the space redesign project, some deficiencies remain to be addressed in the future design and service plan, including separating quiet and noisy areas, flexible arrangements and business process reengineering. Practical implications This study shows a hybrid academic service center can meet the complexity and diversity of users’ needs, despite insufficient funds, space and specialists. To ensure sustainability, digital scholarship services should adapt to local users’ needs and expectations. While the author’s patent service and subject development analysis are local and popular with the users and sectors in his university, they make their services somewhat different from those of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) members. Originality/value This is one of the few, recent studies on space redesign incorporating digital scholarship services in a well-known academic library in China.

Green Open Space (GOS), especially Public Green Space (PGS), plays an important role in implementing an urban area's sustainability. Until now, there has been no study of determining the PGS Availability in the Semarapura Urban Area. The study aims to determine PGS Availability in the Semarapura Urban Area based on the type, area, percentage, and area distribution of PGS. Data collection techniques in this study were field observations and secondary data surveys. The data analysis technique in this study is the Geographic Information System (GIS) or mapping. The results showed that Public Green Space (PGS) availability in Semarapura Urban Area was only 8.92 percent of Semarapura Urban Area's total area. This study's results can be used as a basis for determining the strategy of providing PGS in Semarapura Urban Area.

The REMARK280 field of the Protein Data Bank is the richest open source of successful crystallization information. The REMARK280 field is optional and currently uncurated, so significant effort needs to be applied to extract reliable data. There are well over 15 000 crystallization conditions available commercially from 12 different vendors. After putting the PDB crystallization information and the commercial cocktail data into a consistent format, these data are used to extract information about the overlap between the two sets of crystallization conditions. An estimation is made as to which commercially available conditions are most appropriate for producing well diffracting crystals by looking at which commercial conditions are found unchanged (or almost unchanged) in the PDB. Further analyses include which commercial kits are the most appropriate for shotgun or more traditional approaches to crystallization screening. This analysis suggests that almost 40% of the crystallization conditions found currently in the PDB are identical or very similar to a commercial condition.

The article outlines the development of local open data portals in Ukraine and their importance of the open public information space`s formation. It is substantiated that local open data portals are designed to play one of the pivotal roles in providing the media and citizens with up-to-date information on the activities of local authorities. The functional characteristics of open data portals of nine Ukrainian cities are outlined: Lviv, Dnipro, Vinnytsia, Kramatorsk, Mariupol, Dubno, Kolomyia, Bakhmut, Slavuta. It is determined that the process of development and improvement of city open data portals is underway in Ukraine, in particular, recommendations for the unified culture of data disclosure have been made, however, in practice it has not been implemented yet. One of the positive changes is the increase in the number of datasets in machine-readable formats XLS/XLSX and CSV, while much less sets in nonmachine-readable formats DOC and PDF are published.

Cities are recognised as key enablers for the world’s sustainable future. Urban sprawl and inefficient use of land are important issues significantly impacting the provision and use of open green spaces. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) indicator 11.7.1 aims at globally monitoring the amount of land that is dedicated by cities for public space. In Europe, the indicator “Share of urban population without green urban areas in their neighbourhood” is supposed to correspond to the SDG11.7.1 but is currently on-hold due to methodological issues and lack of data. Moreover, to efficiently assess public space conditions, timely and spatially disaggregated information is essential but not yet widely adopted by urban practitioners. Hereafter, we use a combination of satellite and crowdsourced Earth Observations (EO) to model physical accessibility to urban green spaces in four European cities. Findings suggest that it is technically feasible to derive information on the share of urban population without green urban areas in their neighbourhood. Results demonstrate that the proposed methodology represents a consistent, valid, reliable, low-cost, timely and continuous source of information for sustainable urban development. Open and free EO data can be a good complement to enhance official and traditional statistics on urban areas facilitating EU reporting against the SDG indicator for better comparison between EU countries.

Abstract The main idea of the study is based on the assumption that the level of representation of a term in scientific journals and articles can represent the main stages of this term formation in scientific discourse. The analysis of the representation of the term “environmental sustainability” in open access scientific journals provides an opportunity to explore the basic patterns of development the idea of environmental sustainability in certain areas of knowledge. The aim of the study is to analyze statistical data on the use of the term “environmental sustainability” in scientific journals to outline the scope of scientific content of environmental sustainability in scientific and information space. The analysis was carried out in two directions: the use of the term in certain areas of research; general presentation of the term in the scientific apparatus of articles. It is established that the leading factors of general social content, which led to the emergence of the concept of ecological sustainability in scientific texts, were global environmental problems. The dynamics of using the term over the past few decades is described and three main stages of this concept implementation in the scientific and information space are identified: fragmentary, gradual stability and dynamic.
