Анотація:

<p>MobiHealth systems are tele-monitoring systems based on BAN (Body Area Network) and mobile health care (m-health) service platform utilizing next generation public wireless networks. Smart phone applications have self-monitoring and sensing capabilities and are used in health interventions and disease prevention. In this study, a prototype mobile sensing platform was introduced for m-Health and telemedicine applications, which medical sensors on patient body reports biological signals and environmental sensors send environment raw data to base station (smart phone). Then raw data were preprocessed and necessary features (situations) were extracted. In order to context computation and respond with adaptability, we have used ontology-based model. </p>

Анотація:

The paper considers an approach to construction of human rational activity ontological description. Such a description can serve as an additional source for entering the information space, expands the class of possible indexes for describ-ing documents and allows to implement contextual search. The purpose and features of the use of ontologies in de-scribing the subject area, both from a theoretical and an applied point of view, are considered. Criteria for identifying types of ontologies are indicated. Based on the principles of knowledge schematism, a knowledge representation ontol-ogies system has been developed, which unites language, forms of knowledge representation and process schemes. It is shown that precisely such kind of ontologies system makes possible the practical use of ontologies in computing envi-ronments. For a comprehensive description of production (rational) activity, ontologies of artifacts and processes are presented, developed on the basis of an analysis of state and international standards. The ontology of an artifact is a description of an object - a means and a result of purposeful activity, an ontology of processes is a formalized descrip-tion of the life cycle of an activity. With the help of the ontology of the artifact, it becomes possible to represent the logical structure of activity, and with the help of the ontology of processes, the temporal structure, which jointly deter-mine the two sides of the description of complex activity. The proposed ontology of processes includes a hierarchically related set of stages of the life cycle of activity, objects and subjects of activity of each stage and plays the role of a "navigation map" for subjects of activity, allowing them to navigate in complex organizational structures.

Ontological separation plays a key role in Aristotle’s metaphysical project: substances alone are ontologically χωριστόν. The standard view identifies Aristotelian ontological separation with ontological independence, so that ontological separation is a non-symmetric relation. I argue that there is strong textual evidence that Aristotle employs an asymmetric notion of separation in theMetaphysics—one that involves the dependence of other entities on the independent entity. I argue that this notion allows Aristotle to prevent the proliferation of substance-kinds and thus to secure the unity of his metaphysical system.

Анотація:

Subject matter: means of information support for the negotiation process on the organization of cooperative production of aircraft. Goal: an outline of the process of developing effective means of information support for negotiations on cooperative production, which will provide financial savings, firstly, by reducing the negotiation time, and secondly, is reducing the likelihood of making irrational decisions that can lead to additional costs during project implementation. Tasks: Increase the efficiency of the negotiation process on the organization of cooperative production by creating a problem-oriented methodological basis, and on this basis - software tools for the development, deployment and operation of the appropriate decision support system. Methods: system analysis and set theory, for the formal presentation of relevant information about the subject area "Negotiations on cooperative aircraft production"; ontological engineering, in particular the IDEF5 standard, as well as elements of expert systems technology, for building an ontological decision support system. Results: an aggregate of methodological tools for the synthesis of ontological decision support systems was developed during negotiations on the organization of cooperative production of aircraft, a scenario example of organizing an ontological dialogue in the environment of an ontological decision support system for defining an aircraft model as an object of cooperative production was given. Conclusions: the need to supplement the mathematical support of traditional negotiation support systems with special methodological means is shown to increase the efficiency of information support for the negotiation process on organizing cooperative production in aircraft construction; it is substantiated that for the program implementation of the system of information support for negotiations on the organization, it is advisable to use the ontological approach; the architecture of the intellectual core of the ontological decision support system for organizing the negotiation process for organizing the cooperative production of aircraft in the form of a hierarchy of frames, with the organization of knowledge-based inference by means of attached procedures is proposed; a scenario example of the formation of a decision on the choice of an aircraft model for the organization of cooperative production in the environment of an ontological decision support system is given.

A competent acquaintance with Martin Heidegger’s major works, such as “Being and Time”, is impossible without understanding the primeval methodological foundations of this German thinker, – or, in other words, without comprehending the principal connection between his existential analysis and the destruction of the European metaphysical knowledge. The inevitable connection of ontic and ontological levels of philosophical research reveals a hardly definable concept of Dasein, while the notion of “openness”, we are interested in, serves as a meaningful specification of Dasein. In this paper, the notion of “openness” is analyzed in two aspects: from the point of a new understanding of the traditional metaphysical problems (the problems of being and entity, in particular) and from the point of a completely new substantiation of these problems (which eventually determines the Heidegger’s existential analysis as a fundamentally-ontological). Thus, the notion of “openness” is understood in the context of the problem of Being (not only Dasein). The phenomenon of openness itself is analyzed as a primordial phenomenon. The existential, “understanding”, is ontologically examined in relation with the phenomenon of openness. Observing Heideggerian existential-ontological analysis of this phenomenon (primarily, in the aspect of “transcendence” and “truth”) this paper defines Dasein as a way of existence of Being as such.

The article deals with the issues of ontological engineering of complex systems. Ontological engineering includes the processes of designing and building ontologies, technologically combining object-oriented and structural analysis. Ontological engineering aims to ensure the adoption of high-quality management decisions by increasing the level of integration of the necessary information, improving search capabilities in databases and knowledge bases, providing the possibility of joint processing of knowledge based on a single semantic description of the knowledge space. This process is carried out within the framework of the proposed approach to managing complex systems. The ontology obtained as a result of engineering is subject to the requirements of convenience and flexibility, which is necessary for modeling system processes and ensuring the functioning of information and analytical processes in a complex system. The application of ordinary graphs, hypergraphs and metagraphs in ontological engineering is described. The use of metagraphs in the construction of hierarchical ontologies is substantiated. Metagraphs are considered as the basis for building an applied ontology of a complex system. A modification of the metagraph is proposed, which makes it possible to include events and data processing methods in the ontology. Such a modification integrates the process component into the ontological model of the system as an integral part of it, which makes it possible to flexibly and with less time to form process models based on the metagraph subgraphs of the general ontological model. An approach and an example of the implementation of the software-instrumental environment of ontological engineering and further construction of models of processes of a complex system are described. The technology used to implement the ontology in the PostgreSQL database management system and the database structure for storing the ontology are described

Анотація:

As Ontologic knowledge gets more and more important in agent-based systems, its handling becomes crucial for successful applications. We propose a hybrid approach, in which part of the ontology is handled locally, using a "client component", and the rest of the ontological knowledge is handled by an "ontology agent", which is accessed by the other agents in the system through their client component. We propose specific methods for representing, storing, querying and translating ontologies for effective use in the context of the "JITIK" system, which is a multiagent system for knowledge and information distribution. We report as well a working prototype implementing our proposal.

Abstract There are several ontological and consequently also methodological mistakes in contemporary mainstream economics. Among them, the so-called ergodic axiom is play significant role. It is understandable that the real economy elaborated as formalized mental model looks like dynamic system on first sight. However, that is right only of dynamical systems in mathematical formalism. Economy that is in our understanding societal and/or collective economy is complex evolving organism. If we imagine such organism in the form of dynamical system that is as clear mathematical formalism, we are losing their crucial authentic character. The significant irredeemable attribute of societal economy is lying in his complex evolving network process character created by large population of people with different decision-making and complex realizing among them. Going from these imaginations the two entities in a question that is dynamical system with their ergodicity and societal economic organism as complex evolving network are qualitative very different ones. That is the reason why we cannot accede with endeavours to draw on living economy straitjacket of ergodic axiom. To articulate that cause by other words ergodic dynamical systems are applicable for physical and partly for chemical entities and only scarcely are fit for living organisms. On the other hand however, as clear method the ergodic dynamical system have good applying for didactical approaches in economics where helping in better understanding some types of complexities in dynamics. The purpose of that essay is to discuss problems around usability of ergodic dynamical system theory and methods in economics in the age of advanced ICT knowledge based society.

As a result of the work focused on improving the efficiency of the information security system through the development of an ontological model and an approach based on it to ensure information security (IS) risk management, a flexible result was obtained, which is designed to ensure an increase in the efficiency of the information security system by reducing the time spent on managerial decision-making. At the end of the work, a comparative analysis of existing approaches and techniques to information security risk management and the described approach was carried out. Based on the developed ontology and approach, highly intelligent information security risk management systems and the information security system can be created on its basis.

Анотація:

An ontological synthesis of models for interpreting non-stationary dynamics in onboard intelligence systems operating in the emergency computing mode (Urgent Computing - UC) is considered. The ontological system of a dynamic knowledge base is formulated on the basis of theoretical models of the modern catastrophe theory (СT). The analysis and forecast of the evolutionary dynamics of a non-stationary object is implemented in a multiprocessor computing environment. Within the framework of the ontological system, an approach to the interpretation of non-stationary dy-namics using fractal geometry and the theory of dynamical systems stability is formulated. The practical application of the developed ontology model is discussed in relation to the interpretation of the interaction of a marine dynamic object (MDO) with the external environment at a given time interval. The dynamic СT model determines the motion of the MDO system to the target attractor and in case of stability loss. Examples of the implementation of the ontological synthesis of non-stationary dynamics in safety systems for navigation and landing of ship-based aircraft are given.

Анотація:

The paper presents a method of creating an adaptive software system to help people with cognitive impairments, based on the use of an ontological model of the subject area. The specifics of creating software tools to help people with cognitive impairments are analysed. The features of using the ontological approach for the formation of adaptive functionality and graphical interface are revealed and their advantages over traditional methods are analysed. It was found that when using this method, there is no need to recompile and fully deploy the software system in the event of a change in business logic. An ontological model of the subject area has been designed, which will make it possible to customize the system for the needs of a particular user. The architecture of a software system based on an ontological model of the subject area is proposed, which takes into account the possibility of personalizing the components of the system and the user interface without the need to re-deploy the system. The process of adaptation of a mobile application based on data about health disorders of the user using an ontological model of the subject area is disclosed. The result of the research is the development of a software system that implements the proposed adaptation process and allows to modify a mobile application for the needs of a specific user, using an ontological model of the subject area.

Introduction. The article considers the ontological difference as a fundamental idea dividing M. Heidegger’s ontology into two levels. The author proposes an explication of temporal foundations for the main principle of fundamental ontology, the ontological difference, on the basis of existential analytics of Dasein. It is assumed that the organization of Dasein is a micromodel of being in general, which is the ultimate goal of M. Heidegger’s philosophical work. The aim of the study is to explicate the phenomenon of simultaneity as the ontological basis of the temporality of Dasein as a result of philosophical analysis, Methods The author uses hermeneutic, phenomenological and some general scientific methods such as analysis, synthesis, and abstraction. The scientific novelty of the study. When analyzing the self as an existential center of Dasein the author reveals the ontological duality of the first and, as a consequence, of the entire model of existence. The phenomenon of existence towards death is analyzed in the context of existential gap in the centre of the Dasein self, which gives rise to different ways of Dasein being - genuine and non-genuine; the author considers and analyzes the whole structure of the temporal Dasein in the light of the thesis of the human existence finiteness. On the basis of this idea, the key role of simultaneity is revealed, which becomes the ontologically initial concept in relation to the whole Dasein system of being and, accordingly, the fundamental ontology. It is suggested that the ontological difference is based on the more fundamental principle of temporal synthesis. Results. The author presents a model of Dasein existence structure on the basis of the dual nature of the self, with the simultaneity belonging to the ontologically determining specificity of the organization. Conclusions. The temporal justification of ontological differences reveals a feature of fundamental ontology, which consists in a specifically transformed dialectic of being and nothing. The study shows that fundamental ontology offers an atypical approach to the problem of time.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to introduce the development of a knowledge management system. It allows the creation of new knowledge, its consolidation, distribution and combination in the field of educational innovation, in such a way that the knowledge is transferred from individuals to the organisation and from the organisation to individuals. To achieve this, the knowledge spirals of Nonaka are integrated. The epistemological spiral is used to obtain the ontologies that feed the ontological spiral. Design/methodology/approach – More than 600 university teachers participated in the research and the development of the management system, in which more than 400 educational innovation experiences and 1,100 authors have been included. Findings – The epistemological spiral is used to obtain the ontologies that feed the ontological spiral. The result is a double spiral that allows the contribution of a conceptual model and the development of an innovative tool that enables and automates the effective management of knowledge in educational innovation. Practical implications – A repository about educational innovation best practices and experiences is available. Social implications – The presented model for the sustainability and evolution for an educational innovation best practices repositories has a huge impact for education innovation recognition in the professional development of university teachers. On the other hand, it is way of sharing best practices of educational innovation all over the world. Originality/value – The major contribution of this research work is based on the way that the knowledge is transferred from individuals to the organisation and from the organisation to individuals. The classification schema and the proposed indicators are based on the elicitation of more than 600 experts and the study of a corpus of more than 400 educational innovation experiences that involve 1,100 university teachers approximately.

Анотація:

The contemporary versions of the ontological argument that originated from Charles Hartshorne are formalized proofs (in the metalogical sense of the word) based on unique modal theories. The simplest well-known theory of this kind arises from the b system of modal logic by adding two extra-logical axioms: (AA) “If the perfect being exists, then it necessarily exists” (Anselm’s Axiom) and (AL) “It is possible that the perfect being exists” (Leibniz’s Axiom). In the paper a similar argument is presented, however none of the systems of modal logic is relevant to it. Its only premises are the axiom (AA) and, instead of (AL), the new axiom (AN): “If the perfect being doesn’t exist, it necessarily doesn’t”. The main goal of the work is to prove that (AN) is no more controversial than (AA) and – in consequence – the whole strength of the modal ontological argument lies in the set of its extra-logical premises. In order to do that, three arguments are formulated: ontological, “cosmological” and metalogical.

The semantic integration of software systems can be supported through a shared understanding of the terminology in their respective ontologies. In practice, however, the author is faced with the additional challenge that few applications have an explicitly axiomatized ontology. To address this challenge, we adopt the Ontological Stance, in which we can model a software application as if it were an inference system with an axiomatized ontology, and use this ontology to predict the set of sentences that the inference system determines to be entailed or satisfiable. This chapter gives an overview of a deployment of the Process Specification Language (PSL) Ontology as the interchange ontology for the semantic integration of three manufacturing software applications currently being used in industry -- a process modeller, a process planner, and a scheduler.

Анотація:

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to reuse learning resources from course module and forum discussion in ODL settings and structure it with ontological representation. Design/methodology/approach Thus, an ontology is designed by extending simple knowledge organization system specification to structure the learning resources. Furthermore, a semantic forum system is proposed as a front end mechanism to represent the ontological structure designed for the learner to easily access, search and navigate the relevant knowledge of interest. In addition, this study evaluates the effectiveness of the proposed system along with three variables, namely, learners’ perceptions, system design perceptions and system content perceptions. Accordingly, a close-ended online survey was developed and administered to 74 online learners. Findings The findings demonstrate positive perceptions of the proposed system which is based on ontological representation as an effective learning system that is able to enhance the understanding of courses taught. Originality/value This paper presents an ontological structure approach to add meaning to the learning resources, indexed in such a way that it can be reused, searched, processed and shared.

To speed up the ontology development process, ontology developers are reusing all available ontological and non-ontological resources, such as classification schemes, thesauri, lexicons, and so forth, that have already reached some consensus. Non-ontological resources are highly heterogeneous in their data model and storage system (or implementation). The reuse of these non-ontological resources involves their re-engineering into ontologies. This paper presents a method for re-engineering non-ontological resources into ontologies. The method is based on so-called re-engineering patterns, which define a procedure that transforms the non-ontological resource components into ontology representational primitives using WordNet for making explicit the relations among the non-ontological resource terms. The paper also provides the description of NOR2O, a software library that implements the transformations suggested by the patterns. Finally, it depicts an evaluation of the method, patterns, and software library proposed.

To realize product self-organized evolution innovation that is driven by knowledge, the method of ontological expression of product innovative knowledge and integrated reasoning technique are researched. Ontological knowledge system that drives product self-organized evolution innovation and its expression model were built. The expression manner of ontological knowledge based on STEP was discussed, and it was implemented by instantiation of ontological knowledge. The knowledge-based reasoning technique was adopted to transform dada to driven rules, so as to bring innovative product scheme; the case-based reasoning was used to match corresponding structure scheme. The knowledge base and rule base for circuit breaker development were set up, and self-organized evolution innovation of its mechanism system was accomplished. Applied example shows that ontological expression method of the knowledge and integrated reasoning technique with maneuverability and practical value can satisfy requirements of self-organized evolution innovation that is driven by knowledge.

Conceptual models are fundamental to system analysis and design. However, the actual usage of conceptual models remains poorly understood, in particular, how and why practitioners would use multiple models in combination when doing their work. In this paper, the authors explore the reported use of multiple conceptual models for system analysis and design to determine the circumstances that lead professionals to use multiple models. They uncover both semantic and pragmatic reasons that influence the choice and selection of different models for system analysis and design tasks. Contrasting these findings to existing ontological theories, the authors find that the extent and type of multiple model use is determined by not only ontological factors but also contextual factors that can override ontological qualities and in so doing bring forth desired qualities for users. The authors offer several novel propositions about the implications of ontological theory that will be worth exploring in future research.

Currently, a large number of studies are being carried out on the use of ontologies in the development of automated sys-tems. Ontological modeling improves the efficiency of the software development process. The division of labor in the development of automated systems contributes to the appearance of semantic gaps between the phases of the design process. The practice of using a wide range of reusable design artifacts is a risk factor for violation of conceptual integ-rity, consistency and completeness of the developed design solutions. The article proposes a new approach to ontologi-cal modeling of automated systems, which serves the design process for their development at all stages of design up to implementation; and a new structure of metadata of ontological specifications of automated systems, which allows tak-ing into account semantically important entities and features of the system being developed. It is shown that the use of this approach significantly reduces labor costs in the design of a complex automated system in the face of changing re-quirements at different stages of system creation. The use of ontological models in the design process helps to increase the conceptual integrity, consistency and completeness of the developed design solutions.

This article examines a fundamental theoretical aspect of the discourse on ‘intersectionality’ in feminist and anti-racist social theory, namely, the question whether intersecting social divisions including those of sex, gender, race, class and sexuality are interacting but independent entities with autonomous ontological bases or whether they are different dimensions of the same social system that lack separate social ontologies and constitute each other. Based on a historical reconstruction of its genesis, the article frames this as a dispute between system-theoretical and dialectical, ‘Critical Theory’-related approaches and argues that the latter better capture the dynamics of contemporary society, including the perspective of its transcendence.

The aim of this article is to present the project framework for constructing a Software Process Simulation Modeling (SPSM) system. SPSM systems can be used as a virtual environment for the selection of methods and tools of project management in IT support organizations. The constructed system simulates the Scrum methodology, including the management processes and the project roles. For the implementation of Scrum processes, the Scrum ontology is proposed and for the competences of the roles of project team members, a fuzzy-logic representation. As a result the authors present the hybrid fuzzy ontological system as well as a prototype built during project work, allowing the initial verification of the proposed solution. The framework of the design processes proposed in the article was verified on the basis of real courses of project management processes in a large IT company.

The functioning of modern information and communication networks is impossible without data processing. With the emergence of new network services, the amount of information that needs to be processed increases, while the requirements to the data processing quality become more and more stringent. Therefore, the problem of designing and maintaining a scalable data processing system with a flexible quality of service management is becoming more and more important for a network operator. Such data processing systems have a complex internal structure with many interrelated parameters, which makes them difficult to analyze, manage, and expand. This study proposes to use an ontological model to store, represent, and manipulate the information in the operator’s data processing system. The ontological model allows to structure and systematize the data of an information processing system, and transparently reflects the relationships between the parameters of the system to simplify its analysis and scaling. The proposed ontology of a data processing system consists of three related subsystems. The paper describes the proposed ontological model and additionally analyzes the sources of information that needs to be processed in the information and communication network.

Resource allocation decisions can be enhanced by performing risk assessment during the early development phase. In order to improve and maintain the security of the Information System (IS, hereafter), there is need to build risk analysis model that can dynamically analyze threat data collected during the operational lifetime of the IS. In this paper the authors propose an ontological approach to accomplishing this goal. They present analyzer model and architecture, an agent-based risk analysis system (ARAS) which gathers identified threats events, probe them and correlates those using ontologies. It explores both quantitative and qualitative risk analysis techniques using real events data for probability predictions of threats based on an existing designed security ontology. To validate the feasibility of the approach a case study on e-banking system has been conducted. Simulated IDS output serves as input into the risk analysis system. The authors used JADE to implement the agents, protégé OWL to create the ontology and ORACLE 11g SQL developer for the database. Optimistic results were obtained.

The article reflects the individual results of the process of knowledge of the value system of legal psychology. The value system of legal psychology is considered as a set of interconnected ideals and meanings developed on the basis of the integration of legal and psychological knowledge, which is a singular formation and setting the goal and objectives of legal psychology. The question of the search for approaches and methods of systematizing the values of legal psychology is recognized as relevant. The author’s opinion is that the ontology (the philosophical study of being) and the ontological approach is the key to the systematization of the values of legal psychology through the method of dialectics and the principle of determinism. The ontological approach to the knowledge of the value system of legal psychology allows not only to assemble them into a single piece, but also to specify the tasks and purpose of legal psychology as a scientific branch.
