The study of the Urgonian sediments of Organyà Basin has permitted to characterise the sedimentary sequences deposited in this basin. Detailed sedimentary and facies studies allow us to propose a microfacies depositional model used for a good knowledge of the vertical evolution of sedimentary environment. An exhaustive inventory of microfauna and microflora has been presented. Owning the micropaleontological and sedimentologieal data 6 sedimentary sequences have identified. In comparison with the foraminifera distribution well known in other alpine basins, the OR-0 sequence is dated from Valanginian age, the OR-1, OR-2 and OR-3 sequences as Upper Barremian and the last ones (OR-4 and OR-5 sequences) as Lower Aptian. Four main types of sediments has been identified: - silty limestone with terrigenous influence in the OR-0 sequence; - shelf-margin and inner platform limestone in the OR-1 sequence and OR-2 sequence respectively; - charophytes limestone at the base of OR-3 and OR-4 sequences and, - planctonik foraminifera and rich anoxie lime stone in the OR-4 and OR-5 sequences. Sequence stratigraphy of this region is now detailed, due to quantification of the microfauna, specially useful to distinguish the different systems tracts. Two anoxic episodes are observed at the top of the Urgonian sediments; they are correlated with one of the global Cretaceous Oceanic Anoxie Events (OAE 1a)

The main topic of this work concerns the micropaleontological and sedimentological study of the emersive deposits on the Jura platform (S. -E. France and western Switzerland) since the Middle Jurassic to the Lower Cretaceous (Purbeckian and Wealdian facies). By additional data of selected outcrops in N. -E. Spain (Maestrazgo) and S. -E. France (Basse-Provence), a continental biozonation mainly based on the Charophytes and a new phylogenetic diagram of the Clavatoraceae (Charophytes) are set for the Upper Jurassic - Cretaceous of the Western Europe. Moreover, the polymorphous gyrogonites of the Porocharaceae and Characeae (Charophytes) is underlined with a taxonomic review. After a comparison including the Jurassic-Cretaceous fossi! data and the material collected in similar recent environments, this polymorphism is related to the interaction of sorne fluctuating ecologic parameters (salinity, pH, lighting, temperature) on the growth of the Charophytes thallus and fructifications. The micropaleontological and sedimentological analysis of the Jura platform's Mesozoic emersive deposits allows to notice likewise a Lower Cretaceous tectonic activity related to a tardi-hercynian origin and connected with the Neo-Cimmerian phase, as well as to recognize a subtropical climate with alternated seasonal dry and wet periods in the Middle Jurassic - Lower Cretaceous interval. The very particular occurrence in the Jura Mountains of scarce Dinosaurs remains (Allosaurus) and some Characeae (Aclistochara bransoni) agrees to postulate during the Upper Jurassic and the lowermost Cretaceous biological exchanges between the northern Tethyan margin (Eurasia) and North America. More precisely, other correlation tools (Ostracods, Charophytes, Dinokysts, Ammonites) from respectively Tethyan or Boreal realms indicate the evidence of connections with the Jura platform in the lowermost Cretaceous (Berriasian-Valanginian / Volgian-Ryazanian). As conclusions, this study introduces a sequential interpretation of the Jurassic-Cretaceous coastal deposits on the Jura platform and evaluates the share of the glacio-eustatic climatic cycles or of the continental drift inducing the brackish-Iacustrine emersive facies on the continental margins and cratonic areas. At last, the phylogenetic lineage of the Hemiglobator-Globator (Clavatoraceae, Charophytes) is used as a significant exemple to argue about the neo-darwinist theory of Evolution and the creationism, apparently conflicting but in fact complementary

Paleoparasitology is the study of parasitic remains in archaeological context. The neolithization process with all that it implies in terms of socio-economic changes has helped to modify our relations to parasitic diseases. The first humanity epidemiological transition was induced by the establishment and intensification of agro-pastoral systems. The populations clustering, the sedentarisation, the presence in the same space of different species (animal and vegetable, especially allochthonous), the deforestation, the irrigation, the use of fertilizer, the parking or the storage are as many behaviors that impacted host / parasite systems. The deposits in our corpus focused on southwestern France and northeastern Spain.Through the analysis of helminth eggs, the way in which parasitic/host/environmental systems have adapted to the socio-economic transformations of human populations, as well as the health consequences on human populations of this anthropisation, have been understood. In addition, thanks to a dual approach (chronological and geographical) to European deposits with different biotopes, from our corpus integrated with those available in the bibliography, it has been possible to specify and compare the extent of human influence on parasitic/host systems. The deposits sampled in this study came from very different contexts, including chronology, geology, taphonomy and type of use. The most suitable facies for the conservation of helminth eggs were therefore identified

While processes caracterising Early and Middle Neolithic are currently well defined, the middle of the Vth millenium is less documented. If, nowadays, the rejection of scenarios involving a rough rupture between Cardial and Chasséen seems to be broadly accepted, the period of the Vth millenium suffers form a problem inherent in so-called « transitional » periods: shall it be interpretated as the ending of the previous period or as the beginning of the next one ? Pottery remains constitute an avantageous support in order to follow the rhythmes and geography of cultural changes. Our work consist in developing a dual approach of the document, mobilizing both its technical and stylistic aspects in order to consider this type of material production not as a simple tool for defining chronocultural facies, but as a caracteristic of the socio-economic system of the Neolithic communities. The results highlights innovative regional dynamics and provides an overview of extraregional diffusions, outlining the shifting contours of the different cultural spaces that develop during the Vth millenium. Ultimately, these results allow to submit a historical scenario for the development of Neolithic communities

Water scarcity is dealt with practically every day by the media, to manage it is a real challenge. The review of cases such as north west Algeria and south east Spain allowed for important findings to be reached. Population growth rate and the need for irrigation are the main reasons for increased demand. Water was managed in a sustainable way when demand was low. But since the beginning of the century, public authorities action focused in increasing the offer by every means. The management planing, shading away from its responsibilities, provoked shortages, waste, conflicts and deterioration. Consequently, public authorities are now promoting the liberalisation of water production and distribution. But water is not just a commodity, it is an essential element for life and a decisive factor of social cohesion. Market is not in favour of an ecologically and socially sound water management. Institutions are the guarantor of a sound and cautious usage of water and can modify behaviours in favour of a better management in a situation of scarcity. Ensuring the biosphere reproduction requires to be in conformity with it's renewal sequences and assimilation capacities. Mastering the hydrosystems, establishing water basins boards, impact studies, controlling waste and degradations, recycling and re-utilisation of water are tools which help to reach it. Taking into account the social dimension requires that basic needs are satisfied and to ensure equal development opportunities. To achieve this objective it is essential to have an accurate definition of utilisation rights and to offer the possibility for all actors to participate in the decision making process. A sustainable economic growth is necessary to obtain these results. The implementation of fees and subsidies, technical progress as well as setting up priorities would definitively help to reach these goals
