This paper presents a multivariate analysis framework for pattern detection in a multisensor system; the proposed principal component analysis (PCA)/support vector machine- (SVM-) based supervision scheme can identify patterns in the multisensory system. Although the PCA and SVM are commonly used in pattern recognition, an effective methodology using the PCA/SVM for multisensory system remains unexplored. Pattern detection in a multisensor system has long been a challenge. For example, object inspections in multisensor systems are difficult to perform because inspectors might fail to use multiple sensing devices when concurrently detecting different patterns. Therefore, to resolve this issue, this study proposes a novel framework for establishing indicators and corresponding thresholds to identify patterns in the system; it employs a feature-based scheme that integrates principal component analysis (PCA) with an SVM for effectively detecting patterns in the system. Experiments were conducted using a tactile and optical measurement system. The experimental results demonstrated that the proposed method can effectively identify patterns in multisensor systems by using a feature-based algorithm that combines PCA and SVM classification for detecting various patterns. Moreover, the proposed framework established alarm indicators and corresponding thresholds that can be used for pattern detection.

The alkaloids concurrent detection and identification in the samples by the method of multisensory inversion voltammetry is the purpose of the work. To achieve this goal, the proposed method has been substantiated, the composition of the electrochemical test system has been optimized taking into account the specifics of the detected substances, and informative signs that characterize the presence of alkaloids in the studied sample have been found. A new approach, consisting in the use of an electrochemical multisensor test system in the form of a solution containing a set of metal ions that can form complex compounds with organic substances, has been developed and scientifically approved. The results showed that each organic substance has a different effect on the electrochemical behavior of the multisensory test system. The use of such a test system made it possible to model the principle currently defined by the term "Electronic tongue". An electronic database has been prepared according to the results of the electroanalytical studies, which made it possible to identify the detected substance by comparing it with analyzed sample. The proposed electrochemical method, which is based on multisensor inversion voltammetry, allows the detection and identification of both narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances with high confidence for a small mass of the sample.

Given that multiple senses are often stimulated at the same time, perceptual awareness is most likely to take place in multisensory situations. However, theories of awareness are based on studies and models established for a single sense (mostly vision). Here, we consider the methodological and theoretical challenges raised by taking a multisensory perspective on perceptual awareness. First, we consider how well tasks designed to study unisensory awareness perform when used in multisensory settings, stressing that studies using binocular rivalry, bistable figure perception, continuous flash suppression, the attentional blink, repetition blindness and backward masking can demonstrate multisensory influences on unisensory awareness, but fall short of tackling multisensory awareness directly. Studies interested in the latter phenomenon rely on a method of subjective contrast and can, at best, delineate conditions under which individuals report experiencing a multisensory object or two unisensory objects. As there is not a perfect match between these conditions and those in which multisensory integration and binding occur, the link between awareness and binding advocated for visual information processing needs to be revised for multisensory cases. These challenges point at the need to question the very idea of multisensory awareness.

The conventional direct and indirect methods to study the mechanical characteristics of concrete are mainly performing discrete measurements, omitting the continuous internal and external phenomena occurring in the concrete body that may significantly affect its strength and quality. This study presents a multisensory device and a method that simultaneously measures and assesses the impact of curing temperature, ambient temperature and relative humidity on the concrete strength. The device was assembled on the basis of Arduino Pro Mini microcontroller connected with various sensors, as well as clock reading and memory modules. The method proposed to assess the impact of different factors on concrete strength is based on strength tests and their confidence curve, monitoring of concrete curing conditions, correlation and weighting techniques. The performance of proposed device and its method was justified experimentally using the concrete cubic specimens of different size. To visualize the specimens monitoring results the color gradations, petal and bar chart representations were used, and taken into account for the future implementation of a software interface for the multisensory device.

We live in a multisensory world. However, in classrooms, unisensory approaches are preferred, although they are unnatural and usually demotivating for youngsters. We conducted this mix-method study to investigate the possible effects of a multisensory approach on geosciences learning among students at a primary school in Porto, Portugal. The cognitive outcome was assessed using a pre/post-test design, while motivation and other attitudinal parameters were studied using an anonymous questionnaire. The results revealed a higher mean score in post-tests for students attending multisensory classes and high levels of motivation. Therefore, we consider that multisensory instruction has a positive impact on geosciences learning and motivation, and proper measures should be adopted to propel its full and optimal application in schools.

Green products, clean energy, energy union, green buildings, eco-innovations, environment-related, and similar initiatives and policies have become very popular and widely applied all over the world. A pleasant built environment (parks, flowerbeds, beautiful buildings) and a repulsive environment (noise, polluted surroundings) influence a buyer’s outlook on an advertisement differently. An aesthetic, comfortable, and clean built environment evokes positive emotional states, not only at the time of housing selection and purchase but during the building’s life cycle as well. Potential housing buyers always feel comfortable in certain built environments, and they are inclined to spend more time there. The issues needing answers are how to measure the segmentation/physiological indicators (crowd composition by gender and age groups), as well as the emotional (happy, sad, angry, valence) and physiological (heart rate) states of potential homebuyers realistically, to produce an integrated evaluation of such data and offer buyers rational, green, and energy efficient housing alternatives. To achieve this purpose, the Multisensory, green and energy efficient housing neuromarketing method was developed to generate the necessary conditions. Here, around 200 million multisensory data recordings (emotional and physiological states) were accumulated, and the environmental air pollution (CO, NO2, PM10, volatile organic compounds) and noise pollution were investigated. Specific green and energy efficient building case studies appear in this article to demonstrate the developed method clearly. The obtained research results are in line with those from previous and current studies, which state that the interrelation of environmental responsiveness and age forms an inverse U and that an interest in green and energy efficient housing depends on age.

This paper introduces the multisensory approach as a way of teaching that promotes engagement by involving the learners’ senses of sight, hearing, touch, and physical movement. This paper aims to describe the teachers’ role in applying multisensory approach in Primary English Home-based learning, find the benefits and challenges in applying multisensory approach, and provide strategies to overcome the challenges. This study uses qualitative descriptive as the research method and the data was taken from the researcher’s reflections, lesson plans, observation reports and mentor’s feedback. This study shows that multisensory approach positively promoted engagement in primary English home-based learning. Several classroom activities that can be used in applying multisensory approach are Total Physical Response, color codes, storytelling, art & craft, and interactive PowerPoint. The challenges occurred from technicalities and monitoring the students’ behavior. Therefore, parents’ involvement is highly required to monitor students’ behavior in home-based learning process. For the next researcher, it is suggested to find ways to maximize home-based learning by maintaining social interaction among students.

Introduction. Premature infants undergo a lot of stressful procedures during care and treatment procedure, which may lead to weight changes. Multisensory stimulation is a broad classification of interventions designed to improve the developmental and physiological outcomes of preterm infants admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of multisensory stimuli on weight gain in preterm infants admitted to the NICU. Materials and methods. This study was a two-group randomized controlled trial (multisensory stimulation and control group). Forty preterm infants admitted to the NICU who met the inclusion criteria were selected. The intervention method was a multisensory stimulation program including auditory stimulation, tactile stimulation, visual stimulation and vestibular stimulation, which were performed by the researcher for 12 min (each stimulation lasting for 3 min). The infant nutrition was monitored and recorded during the intervention and the infant’s weight was measured after changing diapers every morning for a 7 days. It was conducted in the two groups using a calibrated scale of confirmed validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using SPSS 20 software, paired t-test and independent t-test. Results. Based on the findings of the present study, an upturn was observed in weight gain of preterm infants as a result of multisensory intervention. This indicates that the intervention improves weight gain in premature infants. Conclusions. Since premature infants are usually hospitalized in the NICU for a long time due to their low weight and poor physical condition, they are mostly cared by nurses. Hence, considering its positive outcomes, besides specialized care, this effective and very low cost method could be used by nurses to promote weight gain and early discharge of preterm infants.

A multisensory model was implemented to improve the stimulation and development of early literacy skill. This implementation was conducted on 56 mothers and their children aged 3-5 years old, by giving them literacy media and assistance to the mothers. The assistance was carried out by 21 literacy ambassadors. Each literacy ambassador helped 2-3 mothers. Mixed-Method Action Research (MMAR) was conducted to implement the multisensory model and evaluate its contribution. Quantitative data were collected by scales, while qualitative data were collected by observation, interviews, and questionnaires. Quantitative data analysis was done with Paired Sample T-Test, and qualitative data analysis was conducted with content analysis. Once the multisensory model was applied, the stimulation of children's literacy shifted from a textual way to a contextual way. Multisensory models contributed to creating a storybook reading routine and playing hand puppets, letter cards, and activity books. This contribution was very important because it significantly increased literacy activity and developed children’s literacy skill.

Pre-reading abilities in children can influence their development process and multisensory techniques and flashcard media are the right choices to improve the quality of children s pre-reading. This technique can help children who do not have pre-reading skills to develop better. The research method used is quantitative with a descriptive analysis concept. Based on data obtained from the use of multisensory techniques and flashcard media, the SPPS calculation results have a significance value of 0.006 which means less than 0.05. This means that it is proven that there is an influence on beginner reading skills. Therefore, these two methods have a significant effect on children s pre-reading abilities, so that each method has its own uniqueness, and is able to arouse children s learning enthusiasm while participating in the learning process.

Introduction Occupational therapists have been using various preparatory methods as part of the treatment sessions to prepare clients for occupational performance and participation in occupation. Studies have shown sensory stimulation both activates brain areas inducing cortical reorganization and modulates motor cortical excitability for the stimulated afferents, hence re-establishing the disrupted sensorimotor loop due to stroke. This pilot investigates the potential effects of using multisensory stimulation as a preparatory method prior to conventional training (CT) on upper-extremity motor recovery and self-care function in stroke patients. Method This was a quasi-randomized controlled pilot. Twelve participants (age in years = 67.17 + /−11.29) with upper extremity motor deficits were randomly allocated to multisensory therapy (n = 6) or conventional (n = 6) groups for 12-week training. Assessments were conducted at baseline and post-intervention using Fugl-Meyer Assessment of Motor Recovery after Stroke (FMA), Manual Muscle Testing (MMT), Functional Test for the Hemiplegic Upper Extremity (Hong Kong version FTHUE-HK) and Modified Barthel Index (MBI). Results Significant between-group differences were shown in FMA ( p = 0.003), FTHUE-HK ( p = 0.028) and MMT ( p = 0.034). Conclusion Multisensory stimulation could be used as a preparatory method prior to CT in improving upper extremity motor recovery in stroke rehabilitation. Further well-designed larger scale studies are needed to validate the potential benefits of this application.

Early multisensory stimulating helps the neurology development of individuals by helping to generate brain plasticity, which affects the good maturing of the nervous system. The target of Este research was to implement and verify the effectiveness of online multi-sensory early stimulating using the Montessori method. The research approach was quantitative, quasi -experimental, explanatory, applied to a sample of 20 children aged 3 to 4 years. For data collection, a 24-item Likert- type questionnaire was used with internal consistency (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.88) to assess the multisensory level. the results obtained desde the student's T test of related samples denote that when comparing the date of the 4 interventions during the 5 months, it is found that the p value < 0.05, which denotes that there is efficacy in the application of the Montessori method, Therefore, it is concluded that the efficacy of virtual multisensory early stimulation in children aged 3 to 4 years is reflected in the statistically significant difference of the comparison of the pretest and posttest.

The present paper describes the development of a multisensory system for the analysis of the natural water in the Danube, water collected in the neighboring area of Galati City. The multisensory system consists of a sensor array made up of six screen-printed sensors based on electroactive compounds (Cobalt phthalocyanine, Meldola’s Blue, Prussian Blue) and nanomaterials (Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes, Multi-Walled Graphene, Gold Nanoparticles). The measurements with the sensors array were performed by using cyclic voltammetry. The cyclic voltammograms recorded in the Danube natural water show redox processes related to the electrochemical activity of the compounds in the water samples or of the electro-active compounds in the sensors detector element. These processes are strongly influenced by the composition and physico-chemical properties of the water samples, such as the ionic strength or the pH. The multivariate data analysis was performed by using the principal component analysis (PCA) and the discriminant factor analysis (DFA), the water samples being discriminated according to the collection point. In order to confirm the observed classes, the partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) method was used. The classification of the samples according to the collection point could be made accurately and with very few errors. The correlations established between the voltammetric data and the results of the physico-chemical analyses by using the PLS1 method were very good, the correlation coefficients exceeding 0.9. Moreover, the predictive capacity of the multisensory system is very good, the differences between the measured and the predicted values being less than 3%. The multisensory system based on voltammetric sensors and on multivariate data analysis methods is a viable and useful tool for natural water analysis.

It is important to monitor the concentration of drugs after their instillation: this helps to find the right drug dosages. The proposed method is based on recognizing multidimensional images through the use of multidimensional statistics; the images are produced by multisensory electrochemical systems that provide reliable information about the tested objects. The measurements were carried out using a planar solid-state electrode. The test-system solution was a 0.05 М KCl solution, which contained the Zn2+, Cd2+, Рb2+, Cu2+ Со2+, and Hg2+ metal cations at the concentration of 5 10–5 M. A new electrochemical method for multisensory stripping voltammetry has been used to determine whether it is appropriate for determination of generic forms of the drug Betoptic, that is, Xonef, Betoftan, and Betalink EU in tear fluid. Measurements were carried out on a planar three-electrode interdigitated electrode. It has been shown that this method is effective for determination of the generics. The dynamics of changes in their concentrations over time were examined. After instillation of the generics in glaucoma patients, their concentrations in the Tear fluid remained unchanged within 12 h. The list of organic substances that can be determined by the method of multisensory stripping voltammetry has been extended.

Our research project aimed at investigating multisensory temporal integration in synesthesia and explore whether or not there are commonalities in the sensory experiences of synesthetes and non-synesthetes. Specifically, we investigated whether or not synesthetes are better integrators than non-synesthetes by examining the strength of multisensory binding (i.e., the unity effect) using an unspeeded temporal order judgment task. We used audiovisual stimuli based on grapheme-colour synesthetic associations (Experiment 1) and on crossmodal correspondences (e.g., high-pitch — light colours; Experiment 2) presented at various stimulus onset asynchronies (SOAs) with the method of constant stimuli. Presentation of these stimuli in congruent and incongruent format allowed us to examine whether congruent stimuli lead to a stronger unity effect than incongruent ones in synesthetes and non-synesthetes and, thus, whether synesthetes experience enhanced multisensory integration than non-synesthetes. Preliminary data support the hypothesis that congruent crossmodal correspondences lead to a stronger unity effect than incongruent ones in both groups, with this effect being stronger in synesthetes than non-synesthetes. We also found that synesthetes experience stronger unity effect when presented with idiosyncratically congruent grapheme-colour associations than in incongruent ones as compared to non-synesthetes trained in certain grapheme-colour associations. Currently, we are investigating (Experiment 3) whether trained non-synesthetes exhibit enhanced integration when presented with synesthetic associations that occur frequently among synesthetes. Utilizing this design we will provide psychophysical evidence of the multisensory integration in synesthesia and the possible common processing mechanisms in synesthetes and non-synesthetes.

ABSTRACTThe purpose of this study is to analyze the use of the Simultaneous Multisensory Teaching method (SMT) on improving reading and writing skills of dyslexic students . Students with dyslexia in addition to having difficulty in writing, also generally have difficulty in reading and mentioning a letter, word, and sentence, and often reverse in writing and mentioning letters. One of the methods recommended by International Dyslexia Association (IDA) in improving reading and writing skills of dyslexic students is the Simultaneous Multisensory Teaching (SMT) method. SMT is a special method for students with dyslexia. The learning process goes through special stages to develop students' abilities by optimizing several senses in an integrated manner. The subjects in this study were single participants, namely students with dyslexia with the initials AMJ , who were Grade IV students at SDN 1 Pasirlangkap, Cikidang District, Sukabumi Regency . This research uses an approach qualitative with descriptive method . Data collection techniques using interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques consist of: 1) data reduction, 2) data presentation, and 3) drawing conclusions. The results showed that gradually the students' reading and writing abilities began to improve by using the SMT method . The ability to recognize letters that are often confused has begun to be mastered, both in pronunciation while reading and writing. Similarly, reading and writing words and sentences, there has been a change compared to the initial observations, which tend to have a lot of writing errors. Based on this, it can be concluded that the use of the SMT method can improve the reading and writing skills of dyslexic students.

In a traditional anatomy and physiology lab, the general senses – temperature, pain, touch, pressure, vibration, and proprioception – and the special senses – olfaction (smell), vision, gustation (taste), hearing, and equilibrium – are typically taught in isolation. In reality, information derived from these individual senses interacts to produce the complex sensory experience that constitutes perception. To introduce students to the concept of multisensory integration, a crossmodal perception lab was developed. In this lab, students explore how vision impacts olfaction and how vision and olfaction interact to impact flavor perception. Students are required to perform a series of multisensory tasks that focus on the interaction of multiple sensory inputs and their impact on flavor and scent perception. Additionally, students develop their own hypothesis as to which sensory modalities they believe will best assist them in correctly identifying the flavor of a candy: taste alone, taste paired with scent, or taste paired with vision. Together these experiments give students an appreciation for multisensory integration while also encouraging them to actively engage in the scientific method. They are then asked to hypothesize the possible outcome of one last experiment after collecting and assessing data from the prior tasks.

Previous intermodulation (IM) studies have employed two (or more) temporal modulations of a stimulus, with different local elements of the stimulus being modulated by different frequencies. Brain activities of IM obtained mainly from electroencephalograms (EEG) have been analyzed in the frequency domain. As a powerful tool, IM, which can provide a direct and objective physiological measure of neural interaction, has emerged as a promising method to decipher neural interactions in visual perception, and reveal the underlying different perceptual processing levels. In this review, we summarize the recent applications of IM in visual perception, detail the protocols and types of IM, and extend its utility and potential applications to the multisensory domain. We propose that using IM could prevail in partially revealing the potential hierarchical processing of multisensory information and contribute to a deeper understanding of the underlying brain dynamics.

The test solution was a 0.05 M KCl solution, which contained the $ {\rm{Z}}{{\rm{n}}_2}^ + ,{\rm{C}}{{\rm{d}}_2}^ + ,{\rm{P}}{{\rm{b}}_2}^ + ,{\rm{C}}{{\rm{o}}_2}^ + $ and $ {\rm{H}}{{\rm{g}}_2}^ + $ metal cations in the concentration of 5 • 10−5 M. The efficiency of this method in determining lanosterol with accounting for changes in its concentration with over time has been demonstrated. In order to determine concentrations of Lanomax in tear fluid, a procedure for multisensory stripping voltammetry has been developed and tested. It has been shown that the effect of lacrimal fluid on metal dissolution currents in the test system lasts 12 hours after the Lanomax instillation.

In Israel today, with a total population of over 6 million persons, the Division for Mental Retardation (DMR) provides services to 23,000 persons with intellectual disability (ID). Of the 23,000, residential services are provided to more than 6,000 in close to 60 residential centers, another 2,000 are provided residential care in hostels or group homes in the community in about 50 locations, while the rest are served with day-care kindergarten, day-treatment centers, sheltered workshops, or integrated care in the community. The first Snoezelen room (controlled multisensory stimulation) in the DMR was established at the Bnei Zion residential care center in 1995. The Snoezelen method is now used in Israel in more than 30 residential care centers and 3 community settings. Since the year 2000, a physiotherapist has been employed in order to supervise the treatment and development of the method nationally. Professional staff meetings take place every 4 months. A certification course has been established on a national basis for individuals from different professions (occupational therapists, physiotherapists, teachers, music therapists, nurses, speech therapists, or caregivers). Snoezelen has proved to be an important instrument and a powerful therapeutic tool among the various treatment modules employed in Israel for persons with ID. Dyslexia is considered the most common appearance of a learning disability in the world. Dyslexic students often suffer from emotional issues because of their educational failure experiences. Dyslexia cannot be cured. However, proper and continuous treatment can help students to achieve better results in their studies. The sooner the intervention happens, the better the outcome will be. The research presents the design and development of a mobile application to help dyslexic students to learn how to read. The application is called Learning Dyslexia (Leady). The Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation (ADDIE) model is used for developing the application. It uses a multisensory approach as the teaching method. Leady aims at young learners so that they can have the intervention from an earlier age. The application design also complies with the appropriate design for dyslexic students, such as in the selection of used fonts and background color. Then, Leady is demonstrated to five dyslexia caretakers (the teachers or parents) from a dyslexia school in Bandung. From the conducted survey, it can be inferred that the method is integrated well since all respondents agree that Leady can help dyslexic students to learn how to read. Most of them agree that the used method in Leady is suitable for dyslexic students.

Humans have several senses, all of which are usually used to navigate through life. Technical systems are much simpler, often engaging only one sense. Literature suggests that this might be the reason for some of the problems encountered with human–system interaction. In modern railways, operators almost exclusively interact with technical systems. Information is provided on displays; operators act on what they see. In some safety-critical situations, it is crucial that the displayed information is indeed showing the state of the outside situation and that the operator can rely on it. Failures of the system must be exposed. In two methods, the authors have researched how acoustic (i.e. transmitted via hearing) and haptic (i.e. transmitted via touch) signals can be used in combination with visual information to help people to identify errors of displayed items. After an overview of today’s research into the use of haptic displays and the basic ideas of transmission of multisensory information, the concept for using a multisensory approach in railway operator workstations has been explained. Then the two methods are described. The first one is a computer game style application in which erroneous symbols need to be identified. In the second method, a simple workstation layout is given in which participants need to identify signals which show an erroneous red aspect. In both cases, the participants are aided in their task by receiving information about the symbols and signals via haptic, acoustic or combined haptic and acoustic feedback. Regarding the error detection rates, a significant difference between the three versions of feedback modes was not determined in any method. However, in the second method (workstation), participants were faster when provided with haptic feedback. Also, the participants rated haptic and haptic–acoustic feedback subjectively better than acoustic feedback alone. The methods have shown that the idea of using a variation of feedback modes to reveal mistakes on a display does work. The results are a first step to develop systems which make it possible for the operator to detect inaccuracies in the information displayed without complex electronic systems but with a modern, multisensory approach.

Abstract The experience of one’s body as one’s own is referred to as the sense of body ownership. This central part of human conscious experience determines the boundary between the self and the external environment, a crucial distinction in perception, action, and cognition. Although body ownership is known to involve the integration of signals from multiple sensory modalities, including vision, touch, and proprioception, little is known about the principles that determine this integration process, and the relationship between body ownership and perception is unclear. These uncertainties stem from the lack of a sensitive and rigorous method to quantify body ownership. Here, we describe a two-alternative forced-choice discrimination task that allows precise and direct measurement of body ownership as participants decide which of two rubber hands feels more like their own in a version of the rubber hand illusion. In two experiments, we show that the temporal and spatial congruence principles of multisensory stimulation, which determine ownership discrimination, impose tighter constraints than previously thought and that texture congruence constitutes an additional principle; these findings are compatible with theoretical models of multisensory integration. Taken together, our results suggest that body ownership constitutes a genuine perceptual multisensory phenomenon that can be quantified with psychophysics in discrimination experiments.

Purpose Despite the widespread use of hand movements as visual and kinesthetic cues to facilitate accurate speech produced by individuals with speech sound disorders (SSDs), no experimental investigation of gestural cues that mimic that spatiotemporal parameters of speech sounds (e.g., holding fingers and thumb together and “popping” them to cue /p/) currently exists. The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of manual mimicry cues within a multisensory intervention of persisting childhood apraxia of speech (CAS). Method A single-subject ABAB withdrawal design was implemented to assess the accuracy of vowel + /r/ combinations produced by a 21-year-old woman with persisting CAS. The effect of manual mimicry gestures paired with multisensory therapy consisting of verbal instructions and visual modeling was assessed via clinician and naïve listener ratings of target sound accuracy. Results According to the perceptual ratings of the treating clinician and 28 naïve listeners, the participant demonstrated improved speech sound accuracy as a function of the manual mimicry/multisensory therapy. Conclusions These data offer preliminary support for the incorporation of gestural cues in therapy for CAS and other SSDs. The need for continued research on the interaction of speech and manual movements for individuals with SSDs is discussed.

Many parents are unaware that their child has dyslexia or commonly known as a learning disability. Dyslexia itself involves difficulty understanding letters and words, resulting in the child being unable to spell or read and write, and because of parental ignorance, the child may need educational and emotional support from teachers and parents. Despite being a special child who needs both of their needs, they are labeled stupid. The purpose of this study is to educate parents that there are many ways that both teachers and parents can teach dyslexic children. This study uses journal literature research methods and descriptive analysis using a variety of methods such as the syllable method, the Glass Analysis method, the multisensory method, and the Fernald method.

Objective: In the present study, we sought to investigate whether auditory and tactile cuing could be used to facilitate a complex, real-world air traffic management scenario. Background: Auditory and tactile cuing provides an effective means of improving both the speed and accuracy of participants’ performance in a variety of laboratory-based visual target detection and identification tasks. Method: A low-fidelity air traffic simulation task was used in which participants monitored and controlled aircraft. The participants had to ensure that the aircraft landed or exited at the correct altitude, speed, and direction and that they maintained a safe separation from all other aircraft and boundaries. The performance measures recorded included en route time, handoff delay, and conflict resolution delay (the performance measure of interest). In a baseline condition, the aircraft in conflict was highlighted in red (visual cue), and in the experimental conditions, this standard visual cue was accompanied by a simultaneously presented auditory, vibrotactile, or audiotactile cue. Results: Participants responded significantly more rapidly, but no less accurately, to conflicts when presented with an additional auditory or audiotactile cue than with either a vibrotactile or visual cue alone. Conclusion: Auditory and audiotactile cues have the potential for improving operator performance by reducing the time it takes to detect and respond to potential visual target events. Application: These results have important implications for the design and use of multisensory cues in air traffic management.

The Reading Clinic is a forum for students who are still lacking in mastering basic skills, precisely skills in terms of reading and writing which are focused on low grades at LKSA Budi Mulia Plosoklaten The purpose of writing this article is to increase interest in reading in students with multisensory methods for difficulty learning to read and write. The learning method that learners need to help overcome reading difficulties is a method that can function the entire senses to recognize or learn something, namely the mutisensory method. In the study itself, the author chose to use the PAR (Participatory Action Research) method. As a result of this study, some children were able to adapt the material, create works and have a high interest in reading.

Multisensory Environment and Sensory Deprivation in the Treatment of Reception Defects This article deals with two types of alternative therapy and treatment methods. They are considered to be used in media education, in the treatment of reception defects, such as abuse, narcosis, neurosis, frustration, fetishism and superimposition. Purpose of this article is to summarize and discuss not only these media reality reception defects, but also to object them in two ways - multisensory environment within special pedagogic treatment, sensory deprivation within alternative psychiatric therapy (dark therapy, chamber and floating tanks, meditation, holotropic breathing, neuro-linguistic programming, etc.). Methodology in this study is to consider them as using media in the way of organic reception and therefore included in media anthropology, education and ethics. Within media reality a system reception feedback is needed, therefore the method "anything goes" for this use is explained. The aim of this article is to bind alternative media based methods with the research of reception of the media reality and the outstanding media anthropological issues: therapy, education, ethics, philosophy, etc. The scientific aim not only of this study, but also of author's whole work is to sustain the whole - media anthropological view - by using partial methods for media reality analysis and proving its relevance in disputing other theories being enclosed within media discourse. Also the ethics - code of dealing with technological extensions of human competence - the media - is a part of the organic reception. As the conclusion a need of such kind of research, education and treatment is objected and the examples of author's effort are explained. There is strongly recommended to create and use other media anthropology based equipment: Hitchhiker's Guide to Media Reality, A Chronicle of Abused media, blogs, a textbook, etc.

Recently, it has been shown that various auditory stimuli modulate flavour perception. The present study attempts to understand the effects of environmental sounds (park, food court, fast food restaurant, cafe, and bar sounds) on the perception of chocolate gelato (specifically, sweet, bitter, milky, creamy, cocoa, roasted, and vanilla notes) using the Temporal Check-All-That-Apply (TCATA) method. Additionally, affective ratings of the auditory stimuli were obtained using the Self-Assessment Manikin (SAM) in terms of their valence, arousal, and dominance. In total, 58 panellists rated the sounds and chocolate gelato in a sensory laboratory. The results revealed that bitterness, roasted, and cocoa notes were more evident when the bar, fast food, and food court sounds were played. Meanwhile, sweetness was cited more in the early mastication period when listening to park and café sounds. The park sound was significantly higher in valence, while the bar sound was significantly higher in arousal. Dominance was significantly higher for the fast food restaurant, food court, and bar sound conditions. Intriguingly, the valence evoked by the pleasant park sound was positively correlated with the sweetness of the gelato. Meanwhile, the arousal associated with bar sounds was positively correlated with bitterness, roasted, and cocoa attributes. Taken together, these results clearly demonstrate that people’s perception of the flavour of gelato varied with the different real-world sounds used in this study.

The potential for earthquakes, floods, tornadoes in the city of Yogyakarta needs to be addressed with training and simulations for disaster mitigation efforts, especially for elementary school-aged children who are a group vulnerable to disasters and among them there are the most vulnerable groups, namely children with special needs ( crew). Children with special needs have the same rights as other children to know about how to protect and save themselves when a disaster occurs. Some of them have mobility barriers to carry out protection and even self-rescue independently. So it is necessary to have information on how the procedures/plans for rescue crews from disasters are needed. The training and simulations in this service activity aim to: (1) equip students and teachers with knowledge about the potential for earthquakes, floods, and tornadoes related to the condition of the area in the service area; (2) equip students and teachers with knowledge and attitudes in dealing with disasters; (3) equip students and teachers with knowledge about the importance of preserving the environment to prevent disasters; (4) providing alternative efforts to mitigate earthquakes, floods, and tornadoes based on multisensory disasters; and (5) train teachers to provide disaster mitigation assistance to students, especially children with special needs (ABK). This community partnership program is carried out by means of lectures, questions and answers, and demonstrations. Lecture and question and answer methods were carried out for socialization aimed at providing understanding to students about knowledge and attitudes in dealing with earthquakes, floods, and tornadoes, as well as socialization to explain the importance of environmental sustainability in order to prevent natural disasters, as well as socialization of geographic information related to potential disasters. in the city of Yogyakarta, as well as the concept of multisensory-based earthquake, flood and tornado disaster mitigation. Demonstration method for carrying out multisensory-based earthquake, flood and tornado disaster mitigation simulations. Partners in this community partnership program are SDN Karaganyar and SDN Minggiran. The two elementary schools are inclusive elementary schools located in the city of Yogyakarta. Based on observations at SDN Karanganyar and SDN Minggiran, there are students with special needs who do not understand how to protect and save themselves when a disaster occurs. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct disaster mitigation training to improve the ability to face multisensory-based disaster threats. The target in this community partnership program is ABK students at SDN Karanganyar and SDN Minggiran, and it was carried out from April 2018 to November 2018. Through training to increase the ability to face multisensory-based disaster threats, it is hoped that it can improve the ability of ABK students in dealing with disaster threats.
