Emotional expression is an essential and important link in human social activities and daily communication activities. Emotion recognition is a technology that uses computer technology to recognize the emotion of recognized objects. When emotion recognition technology was born, the research on human emotion recognition mainly focused on single-modal emotion recognition. Single-modal emotion recognition has been the most commonly used emotion recognition method. However, in recent years, with the continuous development of science and technology and the continuous improvement of people’s awareness of the defects of single-modal emotion recognition, the research on multimodal emotion recognition is increasingly emerging. This paper is aimed at analyzing and studying the multimodal emotion recognition algorithm in artificial intelligence information system. Based on this research topic, this paper designs a single-modal and multimodal emotion recognition comparison simulation experiment for the four emotional characteristics of happiness, sadness, shock, and anger extracted from artificial intelligence information systems. The experiment concluded that the comprehensive emotion recognition accuracy rate of the multimodal emotion recognition algorithm in the artificial intelligence information system reached 93%. Compared with single-mode emotion recognition, the comprehensive recognition accuracy is improved by 7%.

Artificial intelligence is a branch of computer science, which includes natural language, intelligent processing, and professional methods. Since the birth of artificial intelligence, the technology and application fields have continued to grow, and the application fields have also continued to expand. This article aims to study the application of artificial intelligence technology in the management information system of container multimodal transportation and to provide convenient and efficient operation methods for container multimodal transportation. This paper proposes the C-means clustering method. Through the research and development of the terminal management system, it has achieved great success in automation, intelligent planning, and integrated management. At the same time, the EDI system is adopted, which mainly uses the combination of GPS and GIS information platform Internet network technology. Therefore, when evaluating the operation of the multimodal transport virtual container under the control of coproduction, the DEA method is used to operate the multimodal virtual container. The situation is analyzed and evaluated, and the multimodal transport virtual container is determined through investment. The experimental results of this article show that the artificial intelligence system achieves the most efficient multimodal transport management with the most efficient system model, combined with the leading container multimodal transport virtual enterprise, to provide the best way of the management process for the development of the multimodal transport management information system. The intact rate of container cargo during transportation is as high as 99.7%.

This research proposes a multimodal multifeature biometric system for human recognition using two traits, that is, palmprint and iris. The purpose of this research is to analyse integration of multimodal and multifeature biometric system using feature level fusion to achieve better performance. The main aim of the proposed system is to increase the recognition accuracy using feature level fusion. The features at the feature level fusion are raw biometric data which contains rich information when compared to decision and matching score level fusion. Hence information fused at the feature level is expected to obtain improved recognition accuracy. However, information fused at feature level has the problem of curse in dimensionality; here PCA (principal component analysis) is used to diminish the dimensionality of the feature sets as they are high dimensional. The proposed multimodal results were compared with other multimodal and monomodal approaches. Out of these comparisons, the multimodal multifeature palmprint iris fusion offers significant improvements in the accuracy of the suggested multimodal biometric system. The proposed algorithm is tested using created virtual multimodal database using UPOL iris database and PolyU palmprint database.

As a novel approach to perform user authentication, we propose a multimodal biometric system that uses faces and gestures obtained from a single vision sensor. Unlike typical multimodal biometric systems using physical information, the proposed system utilizes gesture video signals combined with facial images. Whereas physical information such as face, fingerprints, and iris is fixed and not changeable, behavioral information such as gestures and signatures can be freely changed by the user, similar to a password. Therefore, it can be a countermeasure when the physical information is exposed. We aim to investigate the potential possibility of using gestures as a signal for biometric system and the robustness of the proposed multimodal user authentication system. Through computational experiments on a public database, we confirm that gesture information can help to improve the authentication performance.

AbstractComputer-assisted planning of complex neurosurgical interventions benefits from a variety of specific functions and tools. However, commercial planning- and neuronavigation systems are rather restrictive concerning the availability of innovative methods such as novel imaging modalities, fiber tracking algorithms or electrical dipole mapping. In this respect there is a demand for modular neurosurgical planning systems offering flexible interfaces for easy enhancement. Furthermore all relevant planning information should be available within neuron-avigation. In this work we present a planning system providing these capabilities and its suitability and application in a clinical setting. Our Multimodal Planning System (MOPS 3D) offers a variety of tools such as definition of trajectories for minimally invasive surgery, segmentation of ROIs, integration of functional information from atlas maps or magnetoencephalography. It also supplies plugin interfaces for future extensions. For intraoperative application MOPS is coupled with the neuronavigation system Brainlab Vector Vision Cranial/ENT (VVC). We evaluated MOPS in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University Hospital Heidelberg. Surgical planning and navigation was performed in 5 frequently occurring clinical cases. The time necessary for planning was between 5 and 15 minutes including data import, segmentation and planning tasks. The additional information intraoperatively provided by MOPS 3D was highly appreciated by the neurosurgeons and the performance was satisfactory.

Hearing instruments (HIs) have become context-aware devices that analyze the acoustic environment in order to automatically adapt sound processing to the user?s current hearing wish. However, in the same acoustic environment an HI user can have different hearing wishes requiring different behaviors from the hearing instrument. In these cases, the audio signal alone contains too little contextual information to determine the user?s hearing wish. Additional modalities to sound can provide the missing information to improve the adaption. In this work, we review additional modalities to sound in HIs and present a prototype of a newly developed wireless multimodal hearing system. The platform takes into account additional sensor modalities such as the user?s body movement and location. We characterize the system regarding runtime, latency and reliability of the wireless connection, and point out possibilities arising from the novel approach.

Multimodal biometrics technology has recently gained interest due to its capacity to overcome certain inherent limitations of the single biometric modalities and to improve the overall recognition rate. A common biometric recognition system consists of sensing, feature extraction, and matching modules. The robustness of the system depends much more on the reliability to extract relevant information from the single biometric traits. This paper proposes a new feature extraction technique for a multimodal biometric system using face–iris traits. The iris feature extraction is carried out using an efficient multi-resolution 2D Log-Gabor filter to capture textural information in different scales and orientations. On the other hand, the facial features are computed using the powerful method of singular spectrum analysis (SSA) in conjunction with the wavelet transform. SSA aims at expanding signals or images into interpretable and physically meaningful components. In this study, SSA is applied and combined with the normal inverse Gaussian (NIG) statistical features derived from wavelet transform. The fusion process of relevant features from the two modalities are combined at a hybrid fusion level. The evaluation process is performed on a chimeric database and consists of Olivetti research laboratory (ORL) and face recognition technology (FERET) for face and Chinese academy of science institute of automation (CASIA) v3.0 iris image database (CASIA V3) interval for iris. Experimental results show the robustness.

The article deals with the main factors influencing the formation and development of the multimodal transport system of Ukraine in modern conditions. The object of the research is the process of formation of the domestic multimodal transport system. The purpose of the work is to determine the necessary measures for the formation of the multimodal transport system of Ukraine. In Ukraine, multimodal transportation is at the initial stage of development. Among the main factors hindering the formation and development of multimodal transport systems in Ukraine, is the imperfection of regulatory legal regulation of multimodal transport issues; absence of own environmentally friendly rolling stock of different types of transport, especially on road transport, which carries out transportation on long distances; imbalance between levels of capacity of objects of multimodal transport infrastructure and volumes of cargo flows; high risks of multimodal carriers at significant distances with two or more modes of transport; political situation in Ukraine; information provision of all parts of the multimodal logistics chain, etc. To solve these problems, measures have been proposed that will allow the formation and development of the multimodal transport system of Ukraine. The results of the work can be applied for the formation of a national multimodal transport system. Abstract: Smartphones have become a crucial way of storing sensitive information; therefore, the user's privacy needs to be highly secured. This can be accomplished by employing the most reliable and accurate biometric identification system available currently which is, Eye recognition. However, the unimodal eye biometric system is not able to qualify the level of acceptability, speed, and reliability needed. There are other limitations such as constrained authentication in real time applications due to noise in sensed data, spoof attacks, data quality, lack of distinctiveness, restricted amount of freedom, lack of universality and other factors. Therefore, multimodal biometric systems have come into existence in order to increase security as well as to achieve better performance.[1] This paper provides an overview of different multimodal biometric (multibiometric) systems for smartphones being employed till now and also proposes a multimodal biometric system which can possibly overcome the limitations of the current biometric systems. Multimodality in dialogue systems has opened up new frontiers for the creation of robust conversational agents. Any multimodal system aims at bridging the gap between language and vision by leveraging diverse and often complementary information from image, audio, and video, as well as text. For every task-oriented dialog system, different aspects of the product or service are crucial for satisfying the user’s demands. Based upon the aspect, the user decides upon selecting the product or service. The ability to generate responses with the specified aspects in a goal-oriented dialogue setup facilitates user satisfaction by fulfilling the user’s goals. Therefore, in our current work, we propose the task of aspect controlled response generation in a multimodal task-oriented dialog system. We employ a multimodal hierarchical memory network for generating responses that utilize information from both text and images. As there was no readily available data for building such multimodal systems, we create a Multi-Domain Multi-Modal Dialog (MDMMD++) dataset. The dataset comprises the conversations having both text and images belonging to the four different domains, such as hotels, restaurants, electronics, and furniture. Quantitative and qualitative analysis on the newly created MDMMD++ dataset shows that the proposed methodology outperforms the baseline models for the proposed task of aspect controlled response generation.

1. Analysis of the activity of single neurones in the gustatory pathways in primates (cynomolgus monkeys) shows that the tuning of neurones to the four prototypical stimuli 1.0 mol l-1 glucose, 1.0 mol l-1 NaCl, 0.001 mol l-1 quinine-HCl and 0.01 mol l-1 HCl becomes sharper as information progresses through the taste system from the first central relay in the brainstem, the nucleus of the solitary tract, via the thalamus to the primary taste cortex in the frontal operculum and insula to reach a secondary cortical taste area in the caudolateral orbitofrontal cortex. 2. Feeding monkeys to satiety with glucose has no effect on the gustatory responses of neurones in the nucleus of the solitary tract, the frontal opercular taste cortex or the insular taste cortex, but decreases the magnitude of the neuronal responses of orbitofrontal cortex taste neurones which respond to glucose to zero. 3. The responses of orbitofrontal cortex taste neurones decrease to foods on which the monkey is fed to satiety, but continue to foods which have not just been eaten, that is, they reflect sensory-specific satiety, the phenomenon in which the pleasantness of the taste of a food and its acceptability, but not those of of other foods, is decreased by eating that food to satiety. 4. It has been found that the orbitofrontal cortex taste area or areas receives inputs from different modalities: single neurones with unimodal responses to taste (47%), olfactory (12%) and visual (10%) stimuli are found in close proximity to each other. Moreover, some single neurones show multimodal convergence, responding, for example, to taste and visual inputs (17%), taste and olfactory inputs (10%), and olfactory and visual inputs (4%). Some of these multimodal single neurones have corresponding sensitivities in the two modalities: they respond best to sweet tastes (e.g. 1 mol l-1 glucose), and respond more in a visual discrimination task to the visual stimulus which signifies sweet fruit juice than to that which signifies saline; or they respond to sweet taste and, in an olfactory discrimination task, to fruit juice odour. These results suggest that multimodal representations are formed in the orbitofrontal cortex secondary and related taste areas.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 400 WORDS)

Recommendation systems, the best way to deal with information overload, are widely utilized to provide users with personalized content and services with high efficiency. Many recommendation algorithms have been researched and deployed extensively in various e-commerce applications, including the movie streaming services over the last decade. However, sparse data cold-start problems are often encountered in many movie recommendation systems. In this paper, we reported a personalized multimodal movie recommendation system based on multimodal data analysis and deep learning. The real-world MovieLens datasets were selected to test the effectiveness of our new recommendation algorithm. With the input information, the hidden features of the movies and the users were mined using deep learning to build a deep-learning network algorithm model for training to further predict movie scores. With a learning rate of 0.001, the root mean squared error (RMSE) scores achieved 0.9908 and 0.9096 for test sets of MovieLens 100 K and 1 M datasets, respectively. The scoring prediction results show improved accuracy after incorporating the potential features and connections in multimodal data with deep-learning technology. Compared with the traditional collaborative filtering algorithms, such as user-based collaborative filtering (User-CF), item-based content-based filtering (Item-CF), and singular-value decomposition (SVD) approaches, the multimodal movie recommendation system using deep learning could provide better personalized recommendation results. Meanwhile, the sparse data problem was alleviated to a certain degree. We suggest that the recommendation system can be improved through the combination of the deep-learning technology and the multimodal data analysis.

Multimodal dialogue system, due to its many-fold applications, has gained much attention to the researchers and developers in recent times. With the release of large-scale multimodal dialog dataset Saha et al. 2018 on the fashion domain, it has been possible to investigate the dialogue systems having both textual and visual modalities. Response generation is an essential aspect of every dialogue system, and making the responses diverse is an important problem. For any goal-oriented conversational agent, the system’s responses must be informative, diverse and polite, that may lead to better user experiences. In this paper, we propose an end-to-end neural framework for generating varied responses in a multimodal dialogue setup capturing information from both the text and image. Multimodal encoder with co-attention between the text and image is used for focusing on the different modalities to obtain better contextual information. For effective information sharing across the modalities, we combine the information of text and images using the BLOCK fusion technique that helps in learning an improved multimodal representation. We employ stochastic beam search with Gumble Top K-tricks to achieve diversified responses while preserving the content and politeness in the responses. Experimental results show that our proposed approach performs significantly better compared to the existing and baseline methods in terms of distinct metrics, and thereby generates more diverse responses that are informative, interesting and polite without any loss of information. Empirical evaluation also reveals that images, while used along with the text, improve the efficiency of the model in generating diversified responses.

Optimisation of organisation of transportation technological process, in the context of digitalisation and technological progress, is currently an urgent task following its significant impact on efficiency and competitiveness of transportation business. Currently, development of the economic environment requires a significant restructuring of organisational aspect of activity of the transport industry. An efficient transport and logistics process allows us to reduce time associated with cargo handling, cargo delivery, paperwork, etc. Automated storage systems can be mounted at facilities of different area, from largest warehouses of enterprises to compact storage premises. Favourable conditions created so allow to increase attractiveness of the transport industry. Though, the full implementation of information technology requires a systematic and scientific approach to organisation of transportation. Given the trend towards growth in international container transportation, expansion of global distribution networks, as well as development of scheduled transportation systems and the length of routes, which is particularly relevant for Russia, the issue of tracking positioning and controlling over the current state of the cargo becomes an important condition for improving safety and quality of transportation. The objective of the study was to develop a systematic approach to organisation of transportation technological processes for a multimodal transport system based on information technologies. Based on the study of organisation, engineering, technological, infrastructure factors, including those related to transition to electronic document exchange and electronic cargo positioning tracking, the paper offers a basic systematisation of more promising factors. The introduction and use of innovative and effective methods of organising cargo transportation will reduce time required to process cargo transported in a container, and to promptly pass the container through control and supervisory procedures.

Abstract Information and communication technology (ICT) and the technology of coupling points including power-to-gas (PtG), power-to-heat (PtH) and combined heat and power (CHP) reshape future energy systems fundamentally. To study the resulting multimodal smart energy system, a proposed method is to separate the behavior of the component layer from the control layer. The component layer includes pipelines, power-lines, generators, loads, coupling points and generally all components through which energy flows. In the work at hand, a model is presented to analyze the operational behavior of the component layer. The modeling problem is formulated as state and phase transition functions, which present the external commands and internal dynamics of system. Phase transition functions are approximated by ordinary differential equations, which are solved with integral methods. State transition functions are nonlinear algebraic functions, which are solved numerically and iteratively with a modified Newton–Raphson method. In a proof-of-concept case study, a scenario shows the expected multi-sector effects based on evaluated models.

Logistics activities are an important source of energy consumption and environmental issues. Research conclusions and practical experience show that promoting the development of container multimodal transport is an effective way to reduce the level of carbon footprint. The key to influencing the development of container multimodal transport lies in the cooperation of all participants and links (modes of transport, transport businesses). Evaluating the synergy degree is a key step in this development process. This paper takes the whole process of container multimodal transportation as the research perspective, analyzes the operation process, and treats the process as a production system composed of four subsystems: facilities and equipment, organizational management, business operations, and information interactions. Through in-depth interviews and an analysis of the academic literature and policy documents, we establish a synergy degree evaluation index system and measurement model of container multimodal transport based on synergy theory and case studies. The research results are consistent with the actual situation. From 2015 to 2018, the synergy of container multimodal transport system of China’s G port developed slowly, but generally moved in a more orderly direction.

The recent advancements in multimodal dialogue systems have been gaining importance in several domains such as retail, travel, fashion, among others. Several existing works have improved the understanding and generation of multimodal dialogues. However, there still exists considerable space to improve the quality of output textual responses due to insufficient information infusion between the visual and textual semantics. Moreover, the existing dialogue systems often generate defective knowledge-aware responses for tasks such as providing product attributes and celebrity endorsements. To address the aforementioned issues, we present a Transformer-based Multimodal Infusion Dialogue (TMID) system that extracts the visual and textual information from dialogues via a transformer-based multimodal context encoder and employs a cross-attention mechanism to achieve information infusion between images and texts for each utterance. Furthermore, TMID uses adaptive decoders to generate appropriate multimodal responses based on the user intentions it has determined using a state classifier and enriches the output responses by incorporating domain knowledge into the decoders. The results of extensive experiments on a multimodal dialogue dataset demonstrate that TMID has achieved a state-of-the-art performance by improving the BLUE-4 score by 13.03, NIST by 2.77, image selection Recall@1 by 1.84%.

Abstract Background The rapid spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 or SARS-CoV-2 necessitated a scaled treatment response to the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Objective This study aimed to characterize the design and rapid implementation of a complex, multimodal, technology response to COVID-19 led by the Intermountain Healthcare's (Intermountain's) Care Transformation Information Systems (CTIS) organization to build pandemic surge capacity. Methods Intermountain has active community-spread cases of COVID-19 that are increasing. We used the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Pandemic Intervals Framework (the Framework) to characterize CTIS leadership's multimodal technology response to COVID-19 at Intermountain. We provide results on implementation feasibility and sustainability of health information technology (HIT) interventions as of June 30, 2020, characterize lessons learned and identify persistent barriers to sustained deployment. Results We characterize the CTIS organization's multimodal technology response to COVID-19 in five relevant areas of the Framework enabling (1) incident management, (2) surveillance, (3) laboratory testing, (4) community mitigation, and (5) medical care and countermeasures. We are seeing increased use of traditionally slow-to-adopt technologies that create additional surge capacity while sustaining patient safety and care quality. CTIS leadership recognized early that a multimodal technology intervention could enable additional surge capacity for health care delivery systems with a broad geographic and service scope. A statewide central tracking system to coordinate capacity planning and management response is needed. Order interoperability between health care systems remains a barrier to an integrated response. Conclusion The rate of future pandemics is estimated to increase. The pandemic response of health care systems, like Intermountain, offers a blueprint for the leadership role that HIT organizations can play in mainstream care delivery, enabling a nimbler, virtual health care delivery system that is more responsive to current and future needs.

Email services are among the services most frequently utilized by smartphone users. However, setting up a smartphone email service is very frustrating for ordinary users as the process requires knowledge of complicated email server protocols and types of security. To eliminate the inconvenience, a method in which web mail setting information is preconfigured within an app has been applied to representative smartphone email accounts. However, it is not practical nor realistic to store all web mail setting information in the app; furthermore, private server setting information for schools, working areas and so on, has to be separately established by users. In this paper, we propose a system that removes these inconveniences faced when setting up smartphone email services. The proposed system automatically downloads setting information preconfigured on the email server for users.

House price prediction is an important problem for individuals, companies, organizations, and governments. With a vast amount of diversified and multimodal data available about houses, the predictive models built should seek to make the best use of these data. This leads to the complex problem of how to effectively use multimodal data for house price prediction. Moreover, this is also a context suffering from class imbalance, an issue that cannot be disregarded. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for addressing these problems: the imbalanced multimodal attention-based system (IMAS). The IMAS makes use of an oversampling strategy that operates on multimodal data, namely using text, numeric, categorical, and boolean data types. A self-attention mechanism is embedded to leverage the usage of neighboring information that can benefit the model’s performance. Moreover, the self-attention mechanism allows for the determination of the features that are the most relevant and adapts the weights used according to that information when performing inference. Our experimental results show the clear advantage of the IMAS, which outperforms all the competitors tested. The analysis of the weights obtained through the self-attention mechanism provides insights into the features’ relevance and also supports the importance of using this mechanism in the predictive model.

Object. The authors present the use of cortical sulci, segmented from magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, and functional data from functional (f)MR imaging and magnetoencephalography (MEG) in the image-guided surgical management of lesions adjacent to the sensorimotor cortex. Methods. In an initial set of 11 patients, sulci near lesions were automatically segmented from MR imaging data sets, then MEG and fMR imaging examinations were performed. Relevant functional information was preoperatively interpreted and selected from MEG and fMR imaging and subsequently transferred to the navigation system for selected sulci. A neuronavigation system consisting of a surgical microscope with enhanced reality overlay display was used. Data were displayed as contours on the cut-plane images of a stereotactic workstation and as contours on the overlay screen of the head-up display within the optical path of the right eyepiece of the surgical microscope. Conclusions. This method, in which both sulcal and functional mapping are used for surgery planning and neuronavigation, provides helpful information. It is a promising procedure for the treatment of patients who harbor lesions in areas around the eloquent cortex.

Operators in military C4ISR environments are required to rapidly assess and respond to critical events accurately while monitoring ongoing operations. In order to assist in designing complex display systems to support C4ISR operators, it is critical to understand when and why information displayed exceeds human capacity. Common metrics for evaluating operator overload are subjective report, which rely on self-reporting techniques (e.g., NASA/TLX, SART). A new design tool, the Multimodal Information Design Support (MIDS) system, predicts times of operator overload and offers multimodal design guidelines to streamline cognitive processing, thus alleviating times of operator workload and optimizing situation awareness. This paper empirically validates MIDS” predictive power in determining situations which may cause operator overload by comparing MIDS output to subjective reports of workload and SA during C4ISR operations. Future studies will validate MIDS” design capabilities through redesign and evaluation of performance, workload and SA on the optimized C4ISR task environment.

Modern optics offers several label-free microscopic and spectroscopic solutions which are useful for both imaging and pathological assessments of biological tissues. The possibility to obtain similar morphological and biochemical information with fast and label-free techniques is highly desirable, but no single optical modality is capable of obtaining all of the information provided by histological and immunohistochemical analyses. Integrated multimodal imaging offers the possibility of integrating morphological with functional-chemical information in a label-free modality, complementing the simple observation with multiple specific contrast mechanisms. Here, we developed a custom laser-scanning microscopic platform that combines confocal Raman spectroscopy with multimodal non-linear imaging, including Coherent Anti-Stokes Raman Scattering, Second-Harmonic Generation, Two-Photon Excited Fluorescence, and Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy. The experimental apparatus is capable of high-resolution morphological imaging of the specimen, while also providing specific information about molecular organization, functional behavior, and molecular fingerprint. The system was successfully tested in the analysis of ex vivo tissues affected by urothelial carcinoma and by atherosclerosis, allowing us to multimodally characterize of the investigated specimen. Our results show a proof-of-principle demonstrating the potential of the presented multimodal approach, which could serve in a wide range of biological and biomedical applications.

Multi-modal displays that allow the locomotive engineer to delay safety-critical dispatches in high workload scenarios offer the promise of reducing the cognitive distraction that occurs when the locomotive engineer must listen to a dispatcher’s communication. In an effort to determine whether locomotive engineers could delay safety-critical information from the dispatcher in high workload scenarios, we developed and evaluated such a multi-modal display system. It was hypothesized that locomotive engineers, when provided with the ability to postpone the delivery of information from the dispatcher, would perform better than locomotive engineers who were not provided that capability. Contrary to the above hypothesis, an analysis of the eye tracking measures indicated that the engineers performed more poorly in the multi-modal display system condition, indicating that the system as designed did not allow the engineer to safely delay dispatch messages. We conclude that aspects of the new system that seemed to increase distraction should be redesigned to modify how and when the engineer uses the system to access information and allow for a safe delay of safety-critical information.

Multimodal neuroimaging analyses are of major interest for both research and clinical practice, enabling the combined evaluation of the structure and function of the human brain. These analyses generate large volumes of data and consequently increase the amount of possibly useful information. Indeed, BrainArchive was developed in order to organize, maintain and share this complex array of neuroimaging data. It stores all the information available for each participant/patient, being dynamic by nature. Notably, the application of reasoning systems to this multimodal data has the potential to provide tools for the identification of undiagnosed diseases. As a matter of fact, in this work we explore how Artificial Intelligence techniques for decision support work, namely Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) that may be used to achieve such endeavour. Particularly, it is proposed a reasoning system that uses the information stored in BrainArchive as past knowledge for the identification of individuals that are at risk of contracting some brain disease.

Music carries emotional information and allows the listener to feel the emotions contained in the music. This study proposes a multimodal music emotion recognition (MER) system using Indonesian song and lyrics data. In the proposed multimodal system, the audio data will use the mel spectrogram feature, and the lyrics feature will be extracted by going through the tokenizing process from XLNet. Convolutional long short term memory network (CNN-LSTM) performs the audio classification task, while XLNet transformers performs the lyrics classification task. The outputs of the two classification tasks are probability weight and actual prediction with the value of positive, neutral, and negative emotions, which are then combined using the stacking ensemble method. The combined output will be trained into an artificial neural network (ANN) model to get the best probability weight output. The multimodal system achieves the best performance with an accuracy of 80.56%. The results showed that the multimodal method of recognizing musical emotions gave better performance than the single modal method. In addition, hyperparameter tuning can affect the performance of multimodal systems.

Multimodal travel planning services allow travelers to plan their journey by combining different transport modes: air, rail, waterborne, coach, public transport, demand responsive transport, walking, cycling, etc. The European Union is fostering the development of cross-border multimodal planning services by establishing a regulation framework for their coordinated and coherent deployment across Member States (under the Directive 2010/40/EU). This EU regulation gives precise requirements on travel data formats (DATEX II, SIRI, NeTEx, etc.) and on fundamental and recommended system-level services, such as discovery and linking services. However, it does not (yet) pose constraints on how to implement them. In this paper, we devise and test a system architecture, named Bonvoyage, which proposes an innovative solution implementing such services. For discovery purposes, it federates nation-wide NoSQL databases that contain travel information by exploiting a novel telecommunication paradigm, Information Centric Networking. As regards linking purposes, it orchestrates the use of autonomous monomodal or multimodal routing services provided by small/big stakeholders to compose the best door-to-door journey.
