Повний текст джерелаInadequate information availability, combinatorial complexity, subjective and uncertain preferences, and cognitive biases of decision makers often hamper the procurement of a superior layout configuration. Consequently, it is desirable to develop an intelligent decision support system for layout design that could deal with such challenging issues by providing efficient and effective means of generating, analyzing, enumerating, ranking, and manipulating superior alternative layouts.
We present a research framework and a functional prototype for an interactive Intelligent System for Decision Support and Expert Analysis in Multi-Attribute Layout Optimization (IDEAL) based on soft computing tools. A fundamental issue in layout design is efficient production of superior alternatives through the incorporation of subjective and uncertain design preferences. Consequently, we have developed an efficient and Intelligent Layout Design Generator (ILG) using a generic two-dimensional bin-packing formulation that utilizes multiple preference weights furnished by a fuzzy Preference Inferencing Agent (PIA). The sub-cognitive, intuitive, multi-facet, and dynamic nature of design preferences indicates that an automated Preference Discovery Agent (PDA) could be an important component of such a system. A user-friendly, interactive, and effective User Interface is deemed critical for the success of the system. The effectiveness of the proposed solution paradigm and the implemented prototype is demonstrated through examples and cases.
This research framework and prototype contribute to the field of layout decision analysis and design by enabling explicit representation of experts? knowledge, formal modeling of fuzzy user preferences, and swift generation and manipulation of superior layout alternatives. Such efforts are expected to afford efficient procurement of superior outcomes and to facilitate cognitive, ergonomic, and economic efficiency of layout designers as well as future research in related areas.
Applications of this research are broad ranging including facilities layout design, VLSI circuit layout design, newspaper layout design, cutting and packing, adaptive user interfaces, dynamic memory allocation, multi-processor scheduling, metacomputing, etc.

Ship and submarine design is a very complicated process that requires many trade-offs in design parameters in order to obtain the optimal vehicle effectiveness at the best cost. The number of potential designs is infinite, and the ship designer needs a tool to assist in searching this design space. This thesis uses an evolutionary program to determine the optimal designs of Large Scale Vehicle II, a one-quarter scale submarine model used for propulsor development. A set of designs is randomly generated and represented by binary strings. Each design is treated as an individual in a biological population and evaluated for total ownership cost and two measures of effectiveness. Measures of effectiveness obtained through expert opinion and computer modeling are explored. The designs with high effectiveness and low cost are chosen to produce offspring while the designs with poor effectiveness and high cost are removed from the population. Over many generations, the designs that yield high effectiveness dominate the population. No single design is identified as the optimum. Instead, the information is presented to the decision-maker on a two-dimensional plot that represents the frontier of all non-dominated designs. Each axis represents one of the measures of effectiveness and each level of cost is plotted on a separate curve. This process allows the decision-maker to choose one or several of the non-dominated designs to continue through feasibility and detailed design.

This thesis aims at the landing sites for the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) concept for commuting passengers in Northern California (17 counties), Southern California (9 counties), and Dallas-Fort Worth (12 counties) region. The aircraft for this service is designed to be an all-electric advanced multi-rotor aircraft with autonomous navigational and Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) capabilities. The commuting trips considered is focused on passengers traveling to work from home and back. This thesis presents the land area requirements of these landing sites, which are calculated from the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Advisory Circular 150/5390-2C using ground-taxi configuration for a typical representative aircraft of an equivalent rotor diameter (RD) of 43 feet. The landing sites are then split into smaller sites and consolidated into larger sites. This thesis also presents a list of plots of land located within the 0.5 statute-mile boundaries of the landing sites for relocation. This entire analysis is based on the availability of land from the Zillow Transaction and Assessment Dataset (ZTRAX). The results presented in this thesis are for 75 and 200 landing sites set in the study area for a passenger Cost-Per-Mile (CPM) of $1.2 and $1.8, respectively. The results show how the availability of land changes for different CPM for a set of landing sites and affects the splitting, consolidation, and relocation of landing sites for each region. In the end, the thesis presents conclusions and recommendations unique to each region.

Повний текст джерелаAuctions are secular institutions used in the commercial relationships among individuaIs and organizations. They provi de greater flexibility to the processes of determination of prices and allocation of goods, increasing the space for negotiations among buyers and sellers. In the Internet, they have been used, in a growing way, in B2B and G2B electronic commerce, mostly through the model of reverse auctions. However, its unidimensional aspect reduces the negotiations to the variable price, producing, many times, bad results. In the Brazilian case, the Federal Government launched Comprasnet, an Internet public emarketplace, through which public organizations acquire goods and services from registered suppliers. Considering alI the available bidding modalities, 'Electronic Pregão' stands out, as an unidimensional reverse auction, based on price, through which suppliers dispute for contracts of the public administration. In the present work, the author proposes a multicriteria decision-making approach, based on Multi-attribute Utility Theory, as an alternative for the adoption of multi-attribute reverse auctions, adding value to Brazilian Public Buying Organizations.

Coastal and marine ecosystems are some of the most heavily exploited with increasing degradation. This alarming situation appeals for urgent and effective actions. The optimal balance between use and conservation of ecosystems theoretically requires all costs and benefits to be considered in decision-making, including intangible costs and benefits such as non-market use and non-use values. The broad aim of this PhD is to examine how these economic values associated with coastal and marine ecosystem services can be measured, and how the economic valuation exercise may be considered and influence management decision- making. The first analytical part of the thesis focuses on assessing non-market use and non-use values, through econometric methods. The characterization and estimation of non-use values are complex and controversial, especially when the valuation exercise is focusing on individuals who are users of the ecosystem services being considered. An original approach based on a stated preference method, namely choice experiments, is developed then empirically applied in quantifying non-market values for marine and coastal ecosystems in two areas in New Caledonia. It allows the estimation of non-use values for populations of users in an implicit way. An in-depth analysis of the individuals’ choice heuristics during the valuation exercise is also conducted, with a focus on payment non-attendance. This issue is dealt with by comparing multiple modelling approaches in terms of: (1) inferred attendance, in relation to stated attendance; (2) attendance distribution according to several socio-economic variables; and (3) welfare estimates. After noting that the potential influence of economic valuation in decision making is unclear and largely unexplored in the literature, the second major component of this PhD aims to examine if, how and to what extent the economic valuation of ecosystem services, including measures of non-market values, influence decision-making regarding coastal and marine ecosystems management in Australia. Based on two nation-wide surveys, the perceived usefulness of the economic valuation of ecosystem services by the general public and decision-makers is studied, and the reasons why decision-makers may or may not fully consider economic values are elicited. Using a multi-criteria analysis, a part of the surveys also aims at examining the relative importance of different evaluation criteria (ecological, social and economic) when assessing the consequences of a hypothetical coastal development project on commercial activities, recreational activities and marine biodiversity

Background: Epidural analgesia (EA) is an effective and safe method to relieve labor pain. Although the prevalence of epidural labor analgesia has been increasing in most countries, it is still infrequently in Taiwan compared with most west countries. Most studies in relation to labor EA focused on its benefits and drawbacks. Little is known about the factors associated with decision on EA. In order to propagate the labor EA, the elucidation of decisive factors related to labor EA is of paramount importance. Aims: We applied multi-attribute utility (MAU) theory to ascertain possible factors on which we based to predict whether parturients would receive EA or not during their labor. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional survey was therefore conducted by enrolling all parturients with spontaneous delivery or non-elective cesarean section in Taipei Veterans General Hospital from Jan 18 2006 to Apr 8 2006. A hierarchical questionnaire based on MAU theory was designed by experts to include individual attributes, knowledge and attitude toward EA and cue factors. The experts also performed the weighting process and calculated the scores in different levels according to the MAU theory. The behaviors of parturients were also predicted by the application of MAU model. Sensitivity, specificity, and receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curve by different cut-off points were also evaluated to assess predictive validity of the MAU model. Result: There were 205 parturients recruited in our study. Among them, 167 parturients, consisting of 84 and 83 parturients in the EA and non-EA group, returned the questionnaire, respectively. Of 167, 151 subjects completed all questions. The only differences of individual attributes between the two groups are the parity and education level. More parturients have bachelor degree or above in the EA group compared with the non-EA group (85.7% vs. 66.3%, p=0.003). Besides, there are also more primipara in the EA group (76.2% vs. 47.0%, p<0.001). For items in MAU model, 12 of 20 items revealed significant differences between the two groups. Among these items, “Fear to side effects”, “Fear to severe complications” and “Fear to needle” had the most significant differences. Among the 10 sub-concepts, only 7 of them had significant differences. All sub-concepts under two concepts of “benefit” and “barrier” showed significant differences. In contrast, only 1 sub-concept in “cue to action” concept had significant difference. All 3rd level concepts showed significant differences between the two groups (all p<0.001) and the final decision also showed significant differences. The mean difference in final MAU score between the two groups was 0.38 (p<0.001). The best cut-off point of our model was 0.2 and the sensitivity and the specificity of pre-labor decision were 0.84 and 0.79, respectively. The sensitivity and specificity of final decision were 0.84 and 0.72. The area under ROC was 0.91 (0.86-0.96) for pre-labor decision and 0.83 (0.76-0.89) for final decision. Conclusion: The most influential individual attributes related to labor EA were parity and education level. MAU model can be used to evaluate the relative importance of items associated with knowledge and attitude toward EA and cue factors. Our MAU model can predict pre-labor decision and final decision.

With the rapidly advances of technology, Smartphone has become a necessity in the modern life. Due to the phenomenon of low fertility and the improvement of medical treatment, the aged population must to be increased. In other words, the demands of senior toward Smartphone will increase too. The aim of this study is to analyze the senior''s demands of Smartphone. This study hopes to find a new group of consumer for the phone market which is invariably to compete in function and technology, and to provide a reference for enterprises. In order to understanding the demands of senior toward Smartphone, we use the consumers'' viewpoint through the three stages of questionnaires to interview the consumer of seniors. After finding out the criterion which the consumer value, this study uses a hybrid Multiple Attributes Decision Making (MADM) model which combines Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) and Analytic Network Process (ANP) to derive DEMATEL-based ANP (DANP) which can obtain the correlation and weights between the criteria. Finally, a case study is provided by using Gray Relational to compare the performance at each criterion on current market share rate of the top three Smartphone manufacturers. The empirical example illustrates the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method. The results show that "image of the brand", "after-sales service", "size of the display", "solidity" are the most important criteria for seniors consumers. This study provides some improvements for the three Smartphone manufacturers to meet the needs of senior citizens.

In order to get higher return on investment, real estate investment projects might be executed immediately or deferred after the construction company acquires the land. However, the two development strategies will generate development schemes which are combined by different expected benefits and investment risks due to different planning and deferred time limit. That’s why it’s difficult to make the best decision. Therefore, this study uses the concepts of Multi Attribute Utility Theory and Efficient Frontier to create a Multi Attribute Utility Analysis model. This model can consider both expected benefits and investment risks to reasonably measure the multi attribute utility value for decision makers. In addition, the model analyzes the most investable development scheme from Efficient Frontier concept and the investors’ risk preference. By using the model, the decision quality of investment project could be better. Finally, this study combines Multi Attribute Utility Analysis model and Real Estate Investment Benefit and Risk Evaluation model to build a computer analyzing system(PDS). By applying PDS system decision makers can compare different development schemes by Trade-off analysis to choose the best development project. Additionally, by case study, this model could sieves the best investment project and make decision makers clearly understand the meaning of analyzed results.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the performance of mutual funds. "Treynor Ratio", "Sharpe Ratio", "Jensen''s Alpha" and "Information Ratio" are four commonly used indices for evaluating the competing mutual funds. However, it is not clear which measure is the most robust. This study has a different focus not only on investigating the four criteria separately but also combining all the indices at the same time in making a final ranking of the mutual funds. This study found that Jensen''s Alpha outperforms the rest indices of both uni-criterion and multi-criteria. Although multi-criteria indices are not noticeably better than uni-criteria indices, the index using CRITIC weight method under City block distance measure is recommended if the correlation between the rankings is concerned. Even though the new indices are not noticeably more accurate than uni-criterion indices in ranking the mutual funds. But a good and informative index should be able to chart aggregate changes in market levels. Those uni-criterion indices only justify the risk or a mutual fund manager''s ability partially. Multi-criteria indices are another choices which can be used to evaluate the mutual funds and can take all the criteria into consideration simultaneously. That''s the main contribution of this research.

The condensation process is one of the most used methods in the chemical reaction which takes an important rule in the petrifaction industry. There usually are several quality characteristics in the condensation processes. The optimization of parameter is a very important and complicate work in the condensation processes. In this research, Taguchi method is applied to find the optimal level of parameters (temperature, pressure, freezing water quantity, process backflow quantity)in condensation process for water purity content and the heavy quantity individually. The grey relational method is used to obtain the synthetic index of combined index for two quality characteristics. Then, the synthetic index is analyzed by ANOVA to find the best level combinations of factors for two quality characteristics altogether. The results showed that the best level for each parameter are the freezing water quantity controlled 52.0(ton), the temperature of condensation 13.0 (C), the process backflow quantity 20.0(ton/hr), the pressure of condensation 0.70(kg/cm). By using the best level for each parameter, the objective of reducing water content and the heavy quantity are achieved.

Huge amounts of information is sent to all kinds of network platforms, and the spread of the Internet from the traditional site operators into users. Online customer reviews are helping manufactures to decide marketing strategies, and consumers used to watch online reviews before they buy products. However, the network information is complex. Consumers search keywords in the use of evaluations that from a large number of links in the page one by one, and then read the article carefully to find out the comments, which is a lengthy process for the consumer. This study present a prototype which automated collect and classify consumer reviews based on multi-attribute products. Through the topic model and sentiment analysis, consumers can quickly extract the results and the product evaluation that do not need to read the entire content. In this study, 2837 reviews were collected from PTT. Through the topic analysis of LDA to build feature lexicon, the reviews would be automatically classified into marketing and non-marketing category, and then the sentiment polarity would be analyzed by marketing 4C category. Experiment result showed that classified as marketing 4C category the average of accuracy was 93.84% and the average of F1-Measure was 93.08%. For the category of sentiment polarity of consumer reviews the average accuracy was 91.74% and F1-Measure was 90.68%. It was proved that the sentiment polarity of this machine classification has good accuracy, so that consumers have reliable and correct reference when searching for articles without having to spend too much time browsing the contents of the article.
