<p>This research is motivated by the attitude of Muslim ambiguity in facing modernity which its existence is necessity and can not be rejected in any way. The product of modernity has roiled throughout the joints and pulse of human life without any rebellion. Because he is present with a friendly and pragmatic smile, so able to lull and make forget the impacts. The author formulates this research on the concept of modern education Mahmud Yunus and its relevance to modern education now and how its contribution to modern educational institutions in Indonesia. This study aims to get a picture of modern educational thinking Mahmud Yunus and its relevance to the birth of modern educational institutions in Indonesia. This research is library research, where the data obtained through primary data sources and secondary data, either through the source books of Mahmud Yunus figures directly or from reading materials and internet searching and interviews that the author describes by arranging them according to the theme and issues, especially issues related to the modernization of Islamic education in Indonesia. The concept of modern education Mahmud Yunus is a radical renewal of the education system by taking into account the needs and demands of society, without destroying the existing order. So the offer of modernization of education Mahmud Yunus, in the application of its implementation does not get opposition from anyone, both internal and ekster-nal. While his contribution to the birth of modern educational institutions in Indonesia; In the first place, institutional modernization, Mahmud Yunus is among those who pioneered the need to change the teaching system from the individual ones as applied in the pesantren using the sorogan or weton method. Secondly, the modernization in curriculum where Mahmud Yunus was the first to pioneer the existence of an integrated curriculum, a curriculum combining religious knowledge and general science in Islamic educational institutions, especially in developing Arabic teaching. Third, modernization in the field of learning, Mahmud Yunus is recognized by educational experts as a way hacker for the birth of new methods of Islamic education in Indonesia and he made a new teaching method that he introduced with the name al-thariqah al-mubasyarah (direct methode) that teaches various components science of Arabic. From the thought of Mahmud Yunus is found a new concept, namely; "ICT-based Modern Madrasahs" from the elaboration of the modernization concept both from the institutional side, the curriculum, the method of learning and producing a reliable educator in the hope of becoming a new paradigm for the world of Islamic education in the world and Indonesia in particular.</p><p class="keywords">Keywords: modern education, islamic education institution, integrated curriculum</p>

The research aims to analyze and understand the vision and mission of E-Da'wah, sources of content that are used as a reference, selected preaching content, and language style displayed in Islam Digest Republika.co.id. The research uses a case study method, a qualitative approach, using new media theory, and information dissemination theory. The research results show that the vision carried out by Republika.co.id's Digest Islamic Digest is modern, moderate, Muslim, nationality, and populist, with a mission as an advanced, intelligent, and civilized new online media. While the sources of the Islamic Digest news are taken from the primary causes of the teachings of Islam al-Quran Hadith and the works of classical and contemporary scholars. Likewise, the selected content around aqidah, sharia, Sufism, history, and others, by displaying popular language styles that are interesting and easy to read.Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan memahami visi misi E-Dakwah, sumber-sumber konten yang dijadikan rujukan, konten-konten dakwah yang dipilih dan gaya bahasa yang ditampilkan dalam Islam Digest Republika.co.id. Penelitian menggunakan metode studi kasus, pendekatan kualitatif, dengan menggunakan teori media baru dan teori penyebaran informasi. Hasil Penelitian menunjukan bahwa visi yang diemban E-Dakwah Islam Digest Republika.co.id adalah modern, moderat, muslim, kebangsaan, dan kerakyatan, dengan misi sebagai media online masyarakat baru yang maju, cerdas, dan beradab. Sedangkan sumber-sumber berita Islam Digest diambil dari sumber pokok ajaran Islam al-Quran Hadits dan karya-karya ulama klasik dan kontemporer. Demikian pula konten-konten yang dipilih sekitar aqidah, syariah, akhlak tasawuf, sejarah, dan yang lainnya, dengan menampilkan gaya bahasa populer yang menarik dan enak dibaca.

Research Purpose: The purpose of this study is to propose a plan that will effectively integrate a 3-years foreign language program of Arabic-English-Japanese in three different Islamic schools, “Madrasah Ibtida’iyah, Madrasah Tsanawiyah, and Madrasah Aliyah” in Cipadung Sub-District, Cibiru District.
Research Method: The study utilizes a mix of both qualitative and quantitative research approach with a detailed analytical method. The research gathered its primary data by the school (madrasah) statistics, for example, curriculum activity assessments, student’s involvement in the lecture, test scores, sample questionnaires, and some sample exercises. However, the data is analyzed by organizing the primary data in charts or graphs.
Principal Findings: The main findings obtained from this study is, the implementation of smart and creative learning methodologies will create a student’s engaging and enjoyable learning environment. A properly designed curriculum developed teaching strategies, utilization of audio/visual resources boosts the student’s interest in learning foreign-language courses. Thus, the effective implementation of foreign-language-programs can create better growth opportunities for the youngsters of Indonesia.
Application: The integration of three different foreign languages into a single curriculum is although very difficult, but once it is embedded in the course, it has several applications as well. This study is an inherent part of most academic research, which is based on creative curriculum designs for schools and colleges. This is also impactful and suitable in modern technological based teaching and learning research activities.
Novelty/Originality of this study: The novelty that makes this study more prominent as compared to the previous ones is the blend of technology in the traditional way of teaching. The use of audio/visual gadgets firmly grasps the interest of students of all ages throughout the lecture. Similarly, the smartly planned curriculum based on student’s caliber has ultimately helped in advancing the existing knowledge of each understudied student.

This study presents the thought and the role of Prof. Zakiah Daradjat, a modern female Muslim leader with multitalents in Indonesia. She is an expert in psychology of religion and mental health, both in theory and practice. Amazingly, she masters the western and eastern psychological theory, and then constructs them into her own theory which is linked to primary, middle, and high educational level. Practically, she achieves her expertise and skill in psychotherapy and counseling by teaching, writing, preaching, and opening a private counseling practice. Her main source is the fundamental doctrine of religious teachings: prayer, charity, fasting, and pilgrimage in which she thoroughly analyzes by revealing the dimensions of mental health in them. By using descriptive analysis on her books and translated works as primary sources, and applying interview technique with teachers as well as observation technique on cases that exist at Ruhama Islamic Educational Institution, under the auspices of the Prof. Dr. Zakiah Daradjat Foundation Jakarta, some interesting findings are discovered. Scientifically, no one has previously comprehended mental health and psychology of religion before Zakiah. In turn, both disciplines are applied at Colleges for Religious Studies (Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan- hereinafter called PTK) in the form of an academic supervisory. Initially, it was counseling, but has now evolved into coaching and training. Meanwhile, the implementation of her thought in Ruhama focuses on guidance and counseling. At last, this study shows Zakiah’s thought does not only influence the concept of psychology of religion and mental health, but also affects the practice of counseling in primary, middle to high educational institutions. Penelitian ini menyajikan pemikiran dan peran Prof. Zakiah Daradjat, seorang pemimpin Muslim wanita modern dengan multitalent di Indonesia. Dia adalah seorang ahli dalam psikologi agama dan kesehatan mental, baik dalam teori dan praktek. Hebatnya, dia menguasai teori psikologi Barat dan Timur, dan kemudian membangun ke teori sendiri yang terkait dengan pendidikan dasar, menengah dan tinggi. Secara praktis, ia mencapai keahlian dan keterampilannya dalam psikoterapi dan konseling dengan mengajar, menulis, berkhutbah, dan membuka praktek konseling pribadi. Sumber utamanya adalah doktrin fundamental ajaran agama: doa, amal, puasa, dan haji di mana ia benar-benar menganalisa dengan mengungkapkan dimensi kesehatan mental di dalamnya. Dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif pada buku-buku dan karya-karya terjemahan sebagai sumber primer, dan menerapkan teknik wawancara dengan guru serta teknik observasi pada kasus yang ada di Lembaga Pendidikan Islam Ruhama, di bawah naungan Prof. Dr. Zakiah Daradjat Yayasan Jakarta, beberapa temuan menarik yang ditemukan. Secara ilmiah, tidak ada seorangpun sebelumnya memahami kesehatan mental dan psikologi agama sebelum Zakiah. Pada gilirannya, kedua disiplin yang diterapkan di Sekolah Tinggi Studi Keagamaan (Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan- selanjutnya disebut PTK) dalam bentuk pengawasan akademik. Awalnya, itu konseling, tetapi sekarang telah berkembang menjadi pembinaan dan pelatihan. Sementara itu, pelaksanaan pemikirannya di Ruhama berfokus pada bimbingan dan konseling. Akhirnya, penelitian ini menunjukkan pemikiran Zakiah ini tidak hanya mempengaruhi konsep psikologi agama dan kesehatan mental, tetapi juga mempengaruhi praktek konseling di SD, menengah hingga di lembaga pendidikan tinggi.

This study aims to determine the effect of the whole language approach to the ability to read and write in English in early stages of children aged 5-6 years in one of the kindergartens in the Yogyakarta Special Region. The population in this study were 43 children who were in the age range of 5-6 years in the kindergarten. Twenty-nine participants were included in the experimental class subjects as well as the control class with posttest only control group design. Observation is a way to record data in research on early reading and writing ability. The results of Multivariate Anal- ysis of Covariance (Manova) to the data shows that 1) there is a difference in ability between the application of the whole language approach and the conventional approach to the ability to read the beginning of English; 2) there is a difference in ability between applying a whole language approach and a conventional approach to writing English beginning skills; 3) there is a difference in ability between the whole language approach and the conventional approach to the ability to read and write the beginning in English

Abstract: Development of PAI Learning with Islamic Wasatiyah Insight: Efforts to Build Moderation Attitude Religious Learners. The human dignity of the Indonesian people has fallen to the deepest abyss, the violence and crime that occurred is an indication that our society has shifted into a society that has lost national identity. The motive for terror is carried out over and over again about jihad fisabilillah in order to achieve a degree of martyrdom, which is a noble degree in upholding the religion of Allah. The meaning of jihad is understood literally-textualist, that is only limited to war (qital) in the physical sense by taking up arms aimed at people both individually and institutionally. Such a textual-literary understanding implies rigid, exclusive and intolerant social-religious attitudes and behaviors to people who are different from them so that there is some kind of belief that people who are outside their group are not right (kafir) and are required fought. Our religious education seems to still be trapped in the teaching of the cognitive dogmatic realm which is teaching the knowledge of rules and religious law with fiqh oriented (fiqh oriented), so the fiqh is considered as religion itself. Departing from these problems, it is necessary to reconstruct a scientific-doctrinaire-based modern learning approach. The students are allowed to inner and intellectual encroachment, so they will find maturity in religion, both in terms of their religious affections and intellectual dimensions. This research includes library research, therefore the steps to be taken are the exploration of a number of data from various literature, both primary data, and secondary data. The method of data collection is done by collecting books, articles, journals, scientific opinions in which it reveals and examines the wasatiyah. The data analysis techniques using descriptive-analytic methods. The data that has been analyzed presented with the deductive method which departs from general theory to lead to conclusions to answers to the research problem. The results of the study show that applying a contextual scientific approach is a must because the approach touches three domains: attitudes, knowledge, and skills. The result is an increase and balance between the ability to be a good human being and have the skills and knowledge to live properly. Learning about Islamic wasatiyah insight is expected to be: first, students become more aware of their own religious teachings and aware of the reality of the teachings of other religions. Second, students are able to develop an understanding and presentation of other people's religions. Third, encourage students to participate in social activities which involve various adherents of different religions. Fourth, students can develop all of their own potential including their diversity potential, so they can control their own lives and more empowered.Abstrak: Pengembangan Pembelajaran PAI Berwawasan Islam Wasatiyah : Upaya Membangun Sikap Moderasi Beragama Peserta Didik. Martabat kemanusiaan bangsa Indonesia sudah terpuruk ke jurang paling dalam, kekerasan-kekerasan dan tindak kriminal yang terjadi merupakan sebuah indikasi bahwa masyarakat kita telah bergeser normanya menjadi masyarakat yang kehilangan jatidiri kebangsaan yang ramah. Motif teror yang dilakukan lagi-lagi soal jihad fisabilillah dalam rangka mencapai derajat syahid, yang dalam agama merupakan derajat yang mulia dalam menegakkan agama Allah. Makna jihad dipahami secara literalis-tekstualis, yakni hanya sebatas perang (qital) dalam arti fisik dengan mengangkat senjata yang ditujukan kepada orang baik secara perorangan maupun kelembagaan. Pemahaman yang tekstual-literal semacam itu, berimplikasi kepada sikap dan perilaku sosial keagamaan yang rigid, eksklusif dan intoleran kepada orang yang berbeda paham dengan mereka, sehingga ada semacam keyakinan, bahwa orang yang diluar dari kelompok mereka adalah tidak benar (kafir) dan wajib untuk diperangi. Pendidikan agama kita nampaknya masih terjebak dalam pengajaran ranah kognitif dogmatis yang sibuk mengajarkan pengetahuan peraturan dan hukum agama dengan disiplin ilmu fiqh yang menjadi orientasinya (fiqh orientid) sehingga fiqh dianggap sebagai agama itu sendiri. Berangkat dari problematika tersebut, Maka perlu melakukan rekonstruksi pendekatan pembelajaran modern berbasis scientific-doktriner dengan demikian, peserta didik dibiarkan melakukan perambahan batin dan intelektual, sehingga kelak menemukan dalam dirinya kedewasaan dalam beragama, baik dalam hal afeksi religiusnya maupun dimensi intelektualnya. Penelitian ini termasuk library research, karena itu langkah-langkah yang akan dilakukan adalah eksplorasi terhadap sejumlah data dari berbagai literatur, baik data primer, maupun data sekunder. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan mengumpulkan buku-buku, artikel, jurnal, opini ilmiah yang didalamnya mengungkap dan mengkaji wasatiyah. Adapun teknik analisa data dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif-analytic. Data yang telah dianalisis kemudian dipaparkan dengan metode deduktif yang berangkat dari teori umum untuk menuju pada kesimpulan yang merupakan jawaban dari rumusan masalah penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa menerapkan pendekatan saintifik kontekstual merupakan suatu keharusan, karena dengan pendekatan tersebut menyentuh tiga ranah, yaitu sikap, pengetahuan, dan keterampilan. Hasilnya adalah peningkatan dan keseimbangan anatara kemampuan untuk menjadi manusia yang baik dan memiliki kecakapan dan pengetahuan untuk hidup secara layak. Pembelajaran PAI berwawasan Islam wasatiyah diharapkan dapat: pertama, peserta didik menjadi lebih sadar terhadap ajaran agama mereka sendiri dan sadar terhadap adanya realitas ajaran agama lain. Kedua, peserta didik mampu mengembangkan pemahaman dan paresiasi terhadap agama orang lain. Ketiga, mendorong peserta didik untuk berpartipasi dalam kegiatan sosaial yang di dalamnya terlibat berbagai penganut agama yang berbeda. Keempat, peserta didik dapat mengembang seluruh potensi mereka sendiri termasuk potensi keberagaman mereka sehingga mereka dapat mengontrol kehidupan mereka sendiri, dan dengan cara demikian mereka lebih berdaya.

This study intends to explain whether or not emotional exhaustion and organisational commitment of Catholic primary school teachers in Merauke regency correlate prospectively. This study was guided by one research question: ‘Does the Catholic primary school teachers’ emotional exhaustion and organisational commitment correlate significantly negatively?’ To answer the research question, two survey questionnaires were disseminated to 157 teachers. Employing the SPSS programme version 21, the study shown a significant negative correlation among the surveyed research variables. The findings may be authoritative for the Catholic primary school leaders and the Chief of the Catholic Foundation for Education in Merauke regency, Indonesia, to take major efforts to eliminate emotional exhaustion of teachers in order to foster the organisational commitment of teachers at the Catholic primary schools to teaching the youth.

Monitoring the interest in Russian language learning constitutes a significant direction regarding supporting and promoting the Russian language abroad. The relevance of the study is attributed to the scarce amount of contemporary research on the status of Russian in the academic realm of the Republic of Turkey. This study aims to explore the dynamics and trends regarding teaching Russian as a foreign language in undergraduate programmes in Turkey over the last 5 years and identify the primary factors determining the choice of Russian as a major or as an additional skill. Within the scope of this study we have obtained quantitative information regarding Russian undergraduate programme quotas from governmental Internet resources (Council of Higher Education); additionally, evidence was collected via an anonymous questionnaire targeting L1 Turkish L2 Russian learners. The data were analyzed using statistical methods. The obtained results suggest steady and positive dynamics on the state level: the number of quotas for Russian undergraduate programmes in Turkey is gradually increasing; and on the individual level: a genuinely positive attitude towards Russian language and culture is observed among university students. The crucial factors determining the students choices are mainly related to instrumental motivation (job opportunities, etc.), whereas integral motivation also plays considerable importance (interest towards Russian language and culture, etc.). The results of the study may prove useful in developing educational materials and setting new directions in intercultural policies.

The authors emphasize that information and communication pedagogical technologies help to implement a student-centered approach to learning, provide individualization and differentiation of learning, taking into account the abilities of younger students, their level of education. And also modern pedagogical technologies as a systemic holistic means of restructuring activities make it possible to improve the quality of the educational process, to solve the problems of personality development. Purpose – analysis of modern educational technologies used in English lessons. The current system of training primary school teachers requires a revision of its structure, organization, relationship with school practice and innovative processes in the education system. Therefore, the article proves that an important part of the educational process should be the use of new pedagogical technologies in improving the quality of training of specialists at the university, providing the possibility of self-development of the teacher's personality, increasing his creative abilities and improving the educational process. The study used a descriptive method, analysis and synthesis methods. The authors of the article call the development of the student's personality (moral and cognitive) and the complex of abilities for successful interaction with the polycultural and multilingual world around him as the goal of foreign language education in primary grades. Therefore, it is important that the future primary school teacher, in accordance with the requirements of the state educational standard, has formed the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for the application of modern pedagogical technologies. At the present time, when a new education system was created, focused on the world educational space, changes in the educational process changed the paradigm of education, updated the content of education, formed a new approach, new relationships.

The quality of education in Indonesia is still far from being expected. It is different from Taiwan. The government and people realize that a strong commitment to build and develop a national education system is a key determinant of the success of the state to maintain students’ achievement. The purpose of this study is to respond the correlation of teacher teaching experience (TTE) and instructional delivery on teacher’s competence (TCC), classroom curriculum (CC), and personal competencies (PC) by examining teachers in the primary schools from Taiwan and Indonesia. This study explores the differences between Taiwan and Indonesia cohort in TCC, CC, PC and correlation between TTE and TCC, CC, PC to bring learners` achievement. The results shown that the TCC, CC, PC are different from Taiwan and Indonesia. Then, TEE is statistically significant on TCC, CC, and PC. The techno teaching of each country is compiled by the ministry of education, and then the primary school is given the authority to develop techno teaching or students’ achievement in accordance with the conditions of each region and students’ demand in Indonesia which includes a teacher’s competencies that are supported to succeed the education especially in primary school.

AbstractThis article illustrates the importance of teaching Roman numerals, a component of a Latin language programme, as part of a Maths curriculum in a Spanish primary school. The aim is to contextualise the topic with concrete examples, supported by ancient Roman objects such as the milestone. The author discusses the relevance of a more integrated cross-curricular lesson to teach Roman numerals so that students better understand their use and make comparisons between ancient Roman and more modern traditions and culture, and to understand Roman influences on the modern age. Lastly, the author describes a teaching experiment in a Spanish primary school using some ad hoc materials to fulfil the aim of the study. The study outlines the positive results of integrating Roman numerals within the Maths lesson and shows that the students gained a richer and more valuable learning experience as they made reference to the concrete objects.

Finding a unique way to help students better accept between traditional Chinese Painting and Modern and Contemporary Art is an increasing concern in primary school art teaching. The purpose of this study is to investigate fine art education field according to analyze the current situation of Chinese traditional painting and calligraphy together with Modern and Contemporary Art in the art curriculum of primary schools: shallow embedded curriculum, shortage of Class Hours and relatively simple teaching method. Based on the key competence of the disciplines, it discusses the value of integrating those two in art teaching of primary schools, proposes a Bridge to connect the Chinese painting and calligraphy& Modern and contemporary art and provides a curriculum construction model that connects the artistic language with the concept of disciplines. This study takes the work of artist A.R.Penck as the theme, starting from the big idea, looking for basic problems, designing a curriculum with the integration of two kinds of art forms, and teaching practice at The China Soong Ching Ling Science & Culture for Young People. This study not only answers the feasibility of the curriculum construction model but also gives some critical thinking about it.

English teachers in Indonesian primary schools are often in doubt about the ‘what’ and the ‘how’ to teach because most English teachers training colleges do not provide them with specialized training in how to meet the needs of primary school students; TEYL is a new and highly dynamic field; the status of English in the curriculum of primary schools in Indonesia is a local content, and thus the National Education Ministry does not provide English syllabus for primary school. Since the objective of teaching English in primary school is to provide a good basis for communicative competence as a foundation to study it in secondary school; the development of the four language skills should be made the focus of all learning activities. This paper provides some guidelines, which are adapted from some publications and discussions concerning TEYL for teaching the four language skills in primary schools.

The study takes rural primary school English teachers in Leshan City, Sichuan, China as the research object, taking advantage of approaches like questionnaire survey and interviews, etc. Based on the analysis of the status quo and the influence factors of information-based teaching ability of rural primary school English teachers, the study aims to put forward strategies in order to improve the development of information-based teaching ability of the rural primary school English teachers.

This study aims to discuss modern sociolinguistic theory as the latest Arabic language learning model offering in the context of developing foreign languages in Indonesia. The results of the discussion are expected to expand scientific knowledge in the Arabic learning process in Indonesia. Some Arabic studies currently pay less attention to the study of Arabic culture. Formal learning in the classroom is just quiet theoretical learning of the language itself. Even though studying culture in language learning is very important to do. These two things are inseparable so both must be hand in hand. Everything that can be found in a language contains the culture of its language origin, as well as culture is one of the elements that can shape language. This is called macro linguistics, which is one of the scientific trends in examining issues in learning Arabic in Indonesia. For research design, this study uses a research library which operationally the library data the authors get from books and articles that have relevance to the subject matter. The stages of Arabic language learning based on sociolinguistic theory can be done through three stages, namely describing the concept of sociolinguistics, synchronizing sociolinguistic with teaching material, and implementing sociolinguistics in Arabic instruction. Thus, learning Arabic will be easier for students to understand. The results of the study reveal the results of a fantastic study.

The role of culture, ethnicity, race, belief and religious sects cannot be separated from the individual and social interaction and communication that often due to the conflict of thought and interest such in the political, social, and education. Thus, this study aimed at exploring how the implementation of Islamic teaching in a multiculturalism society at three of modern pesantren schools in Makassar, i.e. pesantren IMMIM, Pondok Madinah, and pesantren Darul Arqam Muhammadiyah Gombara. This study applied qualitative approach using a case study design by conducting the in-depth observation and interview to the teachers, stakeholders, and students. The data collecting were analyzed descriptively using three-stage models of Miles and Huberman. The results found that the pesantren educational policy, teaching methods, pesantrenenvironment, stakeholders and teachers’ control, and the evaluation were the dominant factors of the successful of Islamic teaching due to the strict of reward and punishment applied by pesantren to rehearse the students’ awareness earlier to be well-behaved in a multiculturalism society.

Teaching for active learning is an instructional strategy that has been promoted for some time in Indonesia through various government educational reform initiatives and international development efforts. These efforts, however, have tended to target teachers in public primary schools (SD: sekolah dasar) or public junior high schools (SMP: sekolah menengah pertama) rather than equivalent schools in the Islamic education sector (madrasah ibtidâ’iyah and madrasah tsanawiyah). Utilizing data gathered from focus group discussions, individual interviews, and classroom discussions, this action research study examined the specific challenges faced by Islamic Studies teachers in teaching for active learning in two public Islamic primary schools (MIN: madrasah ibtidâ’iyah negeri) in the district of Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. Our article goes on to describe the difficulties Islamic Studies teachers have in applying active learning teaching strategies learned in demonstrations of teaching for active learning in science, mathematics and other secular subjects to Islamic Studies. ABSTRACTIn Indonesia teaching English at primary schools aims to introduce English language as a foreign language. The policy of Departemen Pendidikan Nasional, No.0487/14/1992, Chapter VIII and Undang-undang Sistem Pendidikan Nasional, No.060/U/1993 explains that English can be incorporated into the curriculum of local content at primary schools. The English proficiency of primary school graduates should be appopriate and useful to prepare the to learn English at the higher level. Students of primary schools are young learners who have their own characteristics. Young learners take great pleasure in playing games. Therefore, teaching English for primary schools students must be well designed in accordance with the characteristics of the students. This study is a survey that aims to investigate teachers’ perspectives of teaching English to young learners in Kudus. Further, it inspects their problems in teaching English in their schools. A questionnaire is distributed to the targeting primary school teachers in Kudus. The result reveals that there are 67% of the teachers who agreed that English is appropriately taught at primary schools, while 33% of the teachers disagreed. Teachers’ problems in teaching English to primary schools students, among others are the limited time allotments, students’ proficiencies in vocabulary and pronunciation, students’ interests, limited facilities, textbook, media and learning materials, and too many students in the classroom. Besides, the primary school students are young learners who are very active and like to break the rules.

Bodily-kinesthetic intelligence model refers to a person's potential to body fact system via hand and physique movement, control, and expression. This model is still rarely known in Indonesian primary school. The aim of this research was to determine the current bodily-kinesthetic intelligence model in physical education teaching for primary schoolers. Descriptive research was conducted with a qualitative and quantitative approach. The sample of this study was physical education teachers and primary school students. Literature review of the documents, questionnaire, observation, video recordings, photography and diary were used to explore the level of the student mind and fitness body. The result showed that the current Bodily-kinesthetic intelligence model in Physical Education Teaching did not allow the appearance of increasing the maximum of their physical and mental abilities. In conclusion, this study gives the assessment model of student human kinetic in order to fix the current issue of competence evaluation. Physical education teachers need to improve their teaching methods to allow students to reach physical and mental performance.

In many cases lecturers fail to transfer knowledge to students effectively despite personally having sound technical knowledge in the subject area. However, the challenge that faces the education environment has always been to ensure that the teaching and learning process takes place effectively in a classroom environment. This paper focuses on the author s experiences in implementing an active method in Ara- bic language teaching to promote effective student learning. It ex- plores speciDc pedagogical theories combined with school resources to improve the quality of teaching and student learning. A simpli- Ded educational method for improving the quality of the teaching and learning process is presented. The method called “Teratai sug- gested that the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process is depend on the effective facilitation of communication, involvement and interaction among students, teachers and course content. The article is intended to explore episthemological consepts, assump- tions, approaches, constructions, and applications of Teratai method in Arabic language teaching. The purpose of this discussion is to build the awareness of a variety of effective teaching ideas and tech- niques that a lecturer may consider in light of their current teaching styles and personalities. Good organization, innovation and new tendencies in the development of the science can raise the quality of the teaching process, thus enabling the student to study fully and rationally. Innovations should help students develop a dialectic way of thinking when explaining objects, phenomena and processes in nature and society, as well as enable them to notice cause and effect relationships. The application of new methods should provide maximum activity of the students in terms of their research and independent work. Computers are used in many different ways therefore they can be used very rationally in different segments of the teaching process.

2013 curriculum of Indonesia has amended English as an extra-curricular or a local content subject at primary schools. There are no standards to achieve and the teachers have to find the appropriate strategies to its delivery. It triggers the teachers’ lack of confidence in terms of content and methods. On the other hand, cognitive domain with the test as achievement standard regardless providing the experience of using the language for communication has been practiced. Integrating the thematic units of primary schools’ thematic lesson seems possible to carry out because the teacher can use its themes or sub-themes as a topic for Teaching English to Young Learners (TEYL). This exploratory case study employs in-depth interviews with three teachers from well-established schools using a semi-structured interview, observations for field notes, and focus group discussion. The findings reveal that all teachers developed the materials for their teaching based on the regular class thematic lessons and a book provided by the local government. As for teaching practice, they have implemented the CLIL principles although they did not realize it. Ultimately, CLIL adaptation is appropriate for TEYL as that representative area in as much as teacher’s English language proficiency and pedagogical competency are upgraded.

Teaching English to Young Learners (TEYL) should provide the young learners opportunities to use the English language contextually.
Soft CLIL does not require a high level of achievement in language but it provides the students simple language instruction with simplified materials.

The study deals with the determination of the theoretical platform of Fröbel’s theory of education and its congru-ence with the constructivist theory of learning and education. Through expert analysis, it clarifies and justifies the essence of Fröbel’s edagogical system as a basis for a modern concept of education that lean towards active and agile process of learning of the children of young school-age. It presents the potential of play and manipulation of didactic material as an eminent activating method that support the authentic cognitive process and leads to the correct interpretation of the surrounding world. This work also examines the value of Fröbel’s theory of education for contemporary primary education. It also documents the contribution and evident influence of Fröbel’s views on the development of modern pedagogical thinking, the implementation of which reflects the need to study and learn the history of pedagogy as an effective way to find effective didactic methods for current education.

<p>Teaching is a noble profession to educate the youth of nations facing today’s global challenges. Teaching, at the same time, has become a highly challenging profession and occasionally a draining work, especially for those who are working in the remote areas. A high-level of teacher absenteeism in the primary schools of Southern Papua has blown some societal alarm for conducting studies focusing on emotional exhaustion as a latent predictor for low-performance. This study attempted to describe the eventual correlation between the emotional exhaustion and organizational commitment of teachers working in the primary schools of Merauke, Indonesia. A survey approach was employed to collect data from a total of 243 primary school teachers in Merauke, Papua, Indonesia. Data were examined statistically by employing Pearson’s correlation model. Results of analysis showed that the emotional exhaustion and commitment of primary school teachers in Merauke, Indonesia, are significantly negatively correlated. This result may be useful for the teachers to benefit from the information of how they may interact with all the school elements and the extent to which these emotions directly affect their organizational commitment. The result may also be advisable for the school leaders to take some tactical efforts of securing teachers’ emotion to promote a high-level of teachers’ organizational commitment and, in turn, improving students’ capabilities in reading, writing, and arithmetics.</p>

The target of managing `ustāż (Islamic Educators) at the Ummul Quro Al-Islami, Modern Islamic Boarding School (PMUQI) is not clearly defined. Teachers who teach are often not in accordance with postgraduate qualifications. Teacher salaries are often deducted. This study aims to reveal the processes of recruitment, selection, placement, training, assessment and salary/compensation of educators in PMUQI Bogor, West Java, Indonesia. The research method used is a qualitative method. The results of the study show that (1) the recruitment of educators always considers the increase in the number of santri and the number of classes each year, prioritizing alumni; (2) selection is done by collecting administrative files and interviews. There is no test in the selection of teaching staff; (3) placement non test is adjusted to educational qualifications and the ability of educators; (4) training and development are carried out in Islamic boarding schools and madrasas; (5) performance appraisal is carried out by establishing an Honorary Board of Teachers (HBT) and giving performance assessment report cards from foundations and pesantren, (6) giving salary to educators based on length of service, structural positions, teaching hours and educational qualifications.

Expand and deepening of detailed researches into the problems of training future primary teachers in physical education is very necessary under modern conditions. Scientists pay special attention to the creation and introduction of active methods of study, the skilful use of which would contribute to increasing efficiency in the acquisition by students of professional knowledge, skills in the organization of physical education process of pupils.
Physical culture lessons in their modern format are insufficient in themselves to maintain health of children, because they are often carried out unskilled, uninteresting, which creates an additional study load, negative attitude of pupils to school physical culture is produced as a kind of secondary educational subject. There is a hopeless situation under such conditions, at first sight. Therefore, the way out of the situation that now has developed is to review fundamentally tasks, essence, functions, forms and technological foundations of physical education at school. First of all, it is necessary to go beyond the traditional perception of physical culture as means of conducting only appropriate lessons. Physical culture should be considered a key component of human culture and not only as the development of individual physical qualities of the body, as universal means and prerequisite for the formation of all qualities of the individual - ethical, emotionally and strong-willed, intellectual and creative, permissive-entertainment, spiritual in general.
The activity components of the organizer of sports and mass work at primary school, listed in the research, are interconnected, constitute the main content of the structure of his abilities, although they are constantly improved in the processes of their manifestation. Also our observations convince that each individual teacher is most often dominated by some one of the components just named. One teacher is well produced with organizational tasks, another with Gnostic, and another with communicative tasks. This is the individual style of activity and the development level of his pedagogical abilities.

This paper focuses on a mapping study of the development of Qur'anic and interpretation study generally in Indonesia. It aims to see how far the map of development of the Qur'an Study in the region of Indonesia. Previously, it is important to trace the beginning of the historical entry of Islam, the pattern and system of teaching the Koran, along with its development by looking at the work of commentary scholars and commentary on the interpretation of scholars. The method used is bibliography with supported documentation of related works. The results are the study of the Qur'an in Indonesia from classical to contemporary times evolved from the conventional pattern of the class (learning al-Qur'an in pesantren, madrasah, and home), a ceremonial event and even in competition (model reading al-Qur ' in various events such as One Day One Juz, STQ, MTQ, and others). On the other hand, the growth of interpretation and translation of the Koran in Indonesia is somewhat slower than the writing of interpretations in the Middle East. In this case the author traced the period of history of writing al-Qur'an interpretation according to Nasharuddin Baidan: Classic Period (7-8 H./15 CE); The Middle Period (16-18 AD); Pre-Modern Period (19th Century); The Modern Period (The 20th Century (1900-1950, 1951-1980, 1981-2000, 2001-present) At first glance, it appears that at first the interpretation became an integral part with other religious teachings propagated by the wali songo (such as the teachings of Molimo and also Lir Ilir) .Then began writing the interpretation with Arabic script in the local language (ex melayu, madura) .The work that appears like Tafsir Tarjuman Al-Mustafid.In this period style of writing interpretation is still influenced from the interpretation of Arab lands, such as Jalalain, al-Baidlawi, etc. The modern period is a period of Indonesian interpretation, not only of tahlili but also maudlu'I (thematic themes) .The themes are carried on are social, political, economic, gender, ecological, multicultural , and others.

Education teachers play a significant role in increasing educational quantity and quality. This study aims to analyze and describe the development of Islamic religious education teachers that covers the implementation, evaluation, and impact on improving the performance of primary school teachers in North Lampung. This study employed the qualitative approach that utilized observations, interviews, and documentation as data collecting techniques. The results of this study are related to the implementation of the human resources development of Islamic religious education teachers at SD MuhammadiyahSoekarnoHatta, SDN 4 TanjungAman, and SDN 1 Kali Balangan through KKG or KelompokKerja Guru (Teacher Work Group) activities, training, and workshops organized by the City Education Office and LPMP (Educational Quality Assurance Council). The evaluation of human resources development for Islamic religious education teachers was performed by the principals through supervision activities, routine meetings, and the provision of motivation and encouragement so that the teachers continue to develop and improve their competencies. The human resource development affected Islamic religious education teachers to be creative in teaching by applying varied teaching methods. The researchers recommend every educational unit develop human resources as an investment in improving the productivity and the capacity of Islamic religious education teachers who have religious pedagogic competencies, religious professionalism, religious social, religious personal, and literacy competencies.

This research aimed to investigate whether or not there was an effect of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model towards the improvement of students’ learning creativities. A total number of 40 students of 4th grade of Public Primary School Lengkong Karya, South Tangerang, Indonesia, participated in this study. This was a quantitative research with descriptive quantitative method. The hypothesis of the study stated that there was an influence of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model towards 4th grade students’ learning creativities improvement. The results of the research revealed that there was a significant influence of CTL towards students’ learning creativities in which in the significant level of 5%, there was a significant correlation between variable X and Y. Additionally, in the significant level of 1%, rtable was lower than rxy (0.376<0.468), hence, at this level, there was a significant correlation between variable X and Y. Based on the statistical test, it was concluded that learning model of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) had significant influence towards the learning creativities of 4th graders of Public Primary School Lengkong Karya. This research used qualitative method. The data collection techniques were observations, interviews, documents, and focused group discussions. The results are (1) Spiritual intelligence is developed through preparatory learning, learning in the class, and outside of the class, (2) There are four similarities that are preparation of teaching, learning in the class, connection of learning in the class with outside of the class, and the systematic planning between learning in and out of the classroom, (3) There are six differences in the separation of male and female students in classroom learning, as well as separation of learning activities outside of the classroom, the role of teachers in classroom learning, the use of applications to monitor classroom and outside the classroom, management of learning outside the classroom, and the implementation of learning in and out of the classroom (4) The causes of the similarities and differences are the initial background of the boarding schools’ founding, the founders’ point of view, the boarding schools’ developmental process, the management system, and the influence of stakeholder policy.

<p>Literacy is one of life skills that cannot be separated from an individual. Starting from the low literacy ability of elementary school students in Indonesia, especially the ability to read, researchers try to find alternatives that can help students in making literacy activities into fun activities. One of the causes of the low literacy in Indonesia is the difficulty in obtaining fun teaching materials, so that students have assumed that literacy is only limited to school assignments. One of the efforts that the writer did was to use literacy-based teaching materials. The purpose of this study is to find out how the application of literacy-based teaching materials especially big books and whether literacy-based teaching materials can improve students' reading skills. In addition, teachers are expected to be able to make improvements in planning and implementation of learning activities and researchers are expected to be able to collaborate with practitioners in the field, thereby increasing insight and input for teaching in LPTK. This study uses a quantitative approach. The results showed that big books can improve students' reading skills in elementary school.<em></em></p>

After the implementation of the 2013 national curriculum which excludes English from the primary school, many primary schools in Indonesia keep offering English to the students despite the uncertainty of the status of English for the primary school. However, the state of the practice of English currently in primary schools is barely unknown. This study is an attempt to portray the teachers that strive to teach English in the primary schools in one of the regencies that are still implementing English education. This survey study involved 44 randomly selected Primary English teachers (PETs) in the regency. The research instrument was a set of online (google format) and offline questionnaires. Results show that the majority of the teachers have English teaching qualification, however only very few ever attended pre-service or in-service training for teachers of young learners. The teachers also deal with employment uncertainty as primary English has no formal legal government policy. The findings bring about the issue of gaps and opportunities for professional developments of PETs and inequality in professional supports for PETs. Penelitian survei ini melibatkan 44 guru bahasa Inggris SD yang dipilih secara acak dan instrumen yang digunakan adalah seperangkat kuesioner daring (googleform) dan luring (cetak). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas guru memiliki latar beakang pendidikan bahasa Inggris, namun hanya sedikit sekali yang pernah mengikuti pelatihan pengajaran bahasa Inggris bagi anak-anak. Guru-guru tersebut juga menghadapi ketidakjelasan status kepegawaian yang disebabkan tidak adanya aturan pemerintah yang jelas tentang bahasa Inggris di SD. AbstractThe interpretation of disaster through a religious lens has produced diverse theological perspectives regarding disaster. This article seeks to analyze the theology of disaster from a Protestant perspective, which may be combined with local knowledge and modern science to create disaster response strategies. This study is based on field studies and related literature analysis with qualitative method using an ethno science approach to see disaster phenomena in the context of Indonesian society, using primary data and secondary data. This study finds out that within Christian theology and among its followers disasters can be seen as the means through which God glorifies His creation while punishing those who have sinned and abandoned His teachings. It concludes, first, that God – the Creator – shows His love and mercy even through disaster. In the Protestant perspective, God seeks to honor His creation by mercifully creating balance. Second, disaster, as part of a natural cycle, should also be understood through local knowledge and modern science; as such, a holistic approach is necessary to understand and respond to disaster.

<p class="06IsiAbstrak"> Every curriculum change in Indonesia impacts other components in the national education system, including the learning material. However, main material changes have not been discussed completely. This article presents the analysis result about the impact of 2013 curriculum for Primary School (PS) and Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) in Indonesia on the subject materials. This study used a literature review which examined various applicable 2013 policy documents and textbooks as a representation of the core materials. The findings of this study indicate that the change from the 2006 curriculum to the 2013 curriculum in PS/MI level has an impact on changes in teaching material. The structure and method changes are more structured, hierarchical and not overlap among levels, due to core competencies. The presentation is thematic and from concrete to abstract. Material content also changes. Teaching materials in the 2013 curriculum in PS/MI level are contextual, integrative and focused on character and soft skills. Teaching materials in the 2013 Curriculum also covers critical and creative thinking, communicative, and collaborative learning.</p>

The research aimed to understand ways of implementing multicultural values in Indonesia primary schools. This case study attempted to discover the multicultura values in primary school curriculum documents and teacher's perspective on how to promote the multicultural values in primary shcool students, by interviewing primary school teacher in Makassar and examining primary school curriculum documents. The investigation showed that teaching the values of tolerance, respecting diversity, acknowledging similarities and maintaining native languages and local identy should be done gradually by initially introducing the symbols of multicultural values through picture, videos, and observations, then teaching children through modeling and attitudes of inclusiveness. More importantly is teachers' knowledge on multiculturalism so that they could behave equally towards students and colleagues in school setting. Finally, multiculturalism should be embedded in the schools through celebration of cultures, ethnics and language diversity, through cultural festivals, food exhibition, local art and dance shows, music contests, drama, and literature.

Introduction. The article is devoted to the enhancement of quality of teachers’ skills in Indonesia. Qualified teachers do not happen by themselves, it requires conscious, planned, continuous efforts to improve their knowledge and competencies. This research aims at examining the contribution of the Indonesia Cahaya Method to fostering teachers’ skills, including motivation in teaching, learning management skills, presenting effective learning materials, preparing interesting and fun learning, developing teaching aids; creating a dynamic learning atmosphere. The Indonesia Cahaya Method is one of the most popular learning methods for early childhood education system in Indonesia. This method was developed through a longitudinal study conducted by Dr. Masnipal, M.Pd. and Onyas Rohayati, which aims at determining the contribution of the Indonesia Cahaya Method to improving teaching skills of early c hildhood teachers. Materials and Methods. The study was conducted as follows: giving a pre-test to teacher before the training began; carrying out training (treatment) for 8 hours (2 x 4 hours) with the help of the team, applying the method into learning in their respective schools in 6–8 weeks (minimum 30 and a maximum of 40 classes); and conducting a post-test by a colleague (one of the teachers at the primary/elementary school) with observations and interviews. Results. The research findings conclude that the Indonesia Cahaya Method has contributed to the improvement of early childhood teachers’ teaching performance. The improvement of teachers’ teaching skills can be seen in: teachers’ motivation in teaching, skills in managing learning, skills in presenting effective learning materials, interesting and fun learning packaging skills, and ability in creating an atmosphere dynamic learning. In addition, the improvement of teachers’ teaching skills was followed by an increase in students’ participation in learning. Discussion and Conclusion. The training method is considered feasible to be followed, studied, developed and implemented in learning by early childhood education teachers. The results of this study add new references to various parties that the Indonesian Cahaya method can be an alternative in developing the competence of early childhood teachers and open up opportunities for further researchers to develop this method, especially at the elementary school level. The article targets primary school education managers and teachers.

Learning Arabic in Indonesia has experienced the ups and downs along with the dynamics of education in Islamic educational institutions. It gives good attention in Arabic teaching is Islamic boarding school. The Islamic boarding school students have not been able to master language skills well, like Arrisalah concerns with speaking skill and Al amin Hudatul Muna 1 concerns with reading skill. This research focused on three aspects: the materials, the instrutions process and the kinds of languages activities in Arabic teaching in modern and salaf Islamic boarding school for class two. It is kind of qualitative study design to describe the results and collecting the data.The results of this study are: (1) the Arabic teaching materials in modern Islamic boarding school consist of 7 subjects, and salaf consist of 5 subjects. (2) the instructional method in modern Islamic boarding school are used grammar translation method, direct method, audio lingual method, reading method and inductive method. The instructional method in salaf islamic boarding school are used grammar translation method and deductive method. (3) the kinds of language activities in modern Islamic boarding school devided into two kinds namely language activities inside the class and language activities outside the class.

As related to the rate of business scale fast growth and the very tight competition in the business world, the needs of society also increase by degrees from time to time. The existence of traditional market in Indonesia is dealing with tight competition from modern market, on which the rate of modern market growth is out of control. The position of traditional market has been eliminated by slowly due to the conducive situation within modern market by which the price of goods including service offered to consumers is very competitive. That’s the fact that most of consumer prefer to go shopping to modern market instead of traditional market. Traditional market throughout Indonesia continue to make an effort to survive against the more and more aggression carried out by modern market in offering all of the goods to be selled. The government has full responsibility to protect the existence of traditional market which is a backbone of government economy especially in establishing the full employment and contributing to local government income. The analysis in this research is traditional market merchant who has established their business in Pasar Blimbing Kota Malang. This research involved the 50 respondents which were sampled by simple random sampling method, among others: direct observation, interview, scrutinize documentation, distributing questionnaires to collect primary data. While secondary data was collected indirectly from the other parties. The aim of this research is to find out more how far the active role of the government in protecting the existence of traditional market against the more and more aggression carried out by modern market in offering all of the goods to be selled.

The arrival of foreign cultures due to globalization will be able to fade the culture of local communities if there is no selection process. Selection process can be done if a nation has a strong character foundation The 2013 curriculum as a reference for education in Indonesia has been emphasizing eighteen characters derived from local wisdom that need to be integrated in the teaching and learning process. The current study intended to explore the believe of primary school teachers on integrating Balinese local value called Tri Hita Karana in teaching character education. This study was a survey study followed by 94 elementary school teachers. The results show that elementary school teachers in Buleleng, Bali are aware of the significances of inserting the values of Tri Hita Karana in the learning process, they believe that the Tri Hita Karana concept is very much in accordance with the values of character education, and the integration of Tri Hita Karana values into the teaching and learning process will strengthen the students’ character and national identity.

The presence of well-known universities outside Indonesia has attracted sig-nificant interests, not only from Indonesian residents but also from residents of other countries. Particularly, western universities are highly demanded and the competition is rather fierce when students attempt to register and take on the entrance tests. Only the top percentile of students seems to be accepted. Because of limitations in space and personnel, those western uni-versities decided to expand their market base into developing countries by getting closer to their potential customers. With the technological advance-ment and push toward the use of the internet and online learning, undoubt-edly, international universities, including Indonesian-based universities with mixtures of curricula across countries, have become a new trend in Indone-sia’s higher educational institutions. With the growing numbers of students applying to international programs at various universities in Indonesia, it is apparent that Indonesians are more assertive to receive internationalized standards. Thus, matching consumer behaviors, and expectations in the local market would be indispensable in trying to ensure the smooth running and operational activities of the international universities in Indonesia. This pa-per attempts to focus on lecturers/professors, as the pool of human re-sources/capital in the everlasting competition within the international uni-versities in Indonesia. The focus on lecturers includes issues on human skills, ability in teaching, and teaching delivery, perhaps including research skills and research ability. It is uncertain whether the lecturers’ capacity, ability, competence, skills, knowledge, and all attributes of the lecturers to handle international classes are sufficient and fit to the consumer expectations. Re-search is conducted by gathering data from primary and secondary sources in several locations of international universities in Jakarta, such as lecturers, students, and parents. It is expected that such research would eventually the importance of lecturers’ competencies in handling international classes with international standards.

This research aims to describe the studies of the Muhammadiyah movement. Scholars have condukted research, observations, and discussions of the Movement. This research is not limited the Muhammadiyah as an Islamic movement, but also its role as economic,educational, and socio-political movement. Research and discussion on the various dimensions of Muhammadiyah are called "Muhammadiyah Studies". By hitoriographical approach, there are three stages of development in the Muhammadiyah Studies. First, study of the fundamental of islamic teaching (1912-1950). Sceond, the preriod wich the Muhammadiyah Studies as a part of modern islamic studies (1950-200). Thrid, after 200s, Muhammadiyah Studies is Characterized by new themes as a part of papular culture.

Based on the new technology initiative in Serbian education, we explored primary school teachers? attitudes toward Computer Assisted Learning (CAL) in biology teaching, as well as the relationships between the teachers? attitudes and four independent variables: age, teaching experience, teachers? competence to use modern teaching aids and their professional advanced training in the field of computer applied learning. Fifty-four elementary school biology teachers from Novi Sad participated in the study. The findings suggested that the teachers generally had positive attitudes toward CAL in biology teaching. Correlation analyses revealed significant relationships between age, teaching experience, teachers? competence to use modern teaching aids in the teaching process, professional advanced training in the field of computer applied learning, and the teachers? attitudes toward CAL. We offer suggestions for further research in this field.

The Classics in Communities project (http://classicsincommunities.org/) is a partnership between members of the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge and the Iris Project. It was set up in response to the primary curriculum reforms which were implemented in England from September 2014. In the Key Stage 2 (KS2) Languages curriculum policy, for the first time, Classical Greek and Latin can be chosen for study by pupils aged 6-11 in place of a modern language. The project particularly targets schools where Classical languages have not previously featured on the curriculum. It has twin aims: to equip teachers in primary schools with the skills and knowledge necessary to teach these languages; and to conduct parallel research to determine the impact of Classical language learning on children's cognitive development.

Teacher development program (TDP) will only be effective when it answers the teacher's need. This study aims to find out how important the training content that has been delivered in the TDP. The training contents listed in this study drawn from the Teacher Working Group, the School of Master Teacher program organized by Sekolah Guru Indonesia Dompet Dhuafa and teacher development at Sukma Bangsa School. A total of 327 primary school teachers have participated in the study which was designed based on survey model. The study was limited to primary school teachers due to different teacher needs of other school levels may be occurred. The data of this study were obtained by using a questionnaire comprised of 13 close-ended items in the form of the rating scale. Descriptive statistics include the percentage, frequency, mean, and standard deviation for data analysis. According to the study results, 84,1% of respondents chosen classroom management as the most important training content to learn. Another indication of the result is that the teachers also need to learn teaching and learning models, developmental psychology, teaching motivation, teaching and learning evaluation, teaching and learning media, technology-based learning, lesson plan, 2013 curriculum, classroom display, public speaking and literacy-based learning that more than 50% teachers defined them as very important to learn. However, only 47% of respondents mentioned Classroom Action Research is very important to learn. Based on the results of this study, the designer of TDP suggested considering classroom management as the first priority to deliver in the TDP followed by teaching and learning models, developmental psychology, teaching motivation, teaching and learning evaluation, teaching and learning media, technology-based learning, lesson plan, 2013 curriculum, classroom display, public speaking and literacy-based learning. In addition, it has to pay more attention to the teacher's need level of Classroom Action Research that is still very low due to improving their motivation to do research.

Even though study concerning Islam and politics has been conducted by many researchers, few of them investigating about compatibility of Islamic political thoughts, which originated from the classical and medieval periods that have been influencing Islamic political movements and thoughts in Indonesia, with Indonesian context. Thoughts of Imam al-Mawardi (lived in the 12th Century) and Taqiyuddin al-Nabhani (lived in the 20th Century) are some of them that should be mentioned in this regard. Islamic political thoughts of al-Mawardi become the main reference for Sunni Muslims who are majority in Indonesia, while Islamic political thought of al-Nabhani become the main guidance of HTI (Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia) movement of which its members and followers are many in Indonesia. This article investigates about the political thoughts of al-Mawardi and al-Nabhani concerning the relationship between Islam and state as well as their compatibility with Indonesian context. This study uses the library research in which its primary resources are books written by al-Mawardi entitled Al-Ahkam al-Sulthaniyah and al-Nabhani entitled Ad-Daulah al-Islamiyah. By utilizing qualitative content analysis, data were collected and analyzed. This article argues that the Islamic political thought of al-Mawardi has been adopted by majority of Indonesian Sunni Muslims with some adjustments with Indonesian context, so that his thoughts become compatible with the concept of modern nation-state of Indonesia. On the other side, Islamic political thought of al-Nabhani which developed within a spirit of resistance to Western (European) colonialism has been adopted and campaigned by HTI without adjustment with Indonesian context. This causes al-Nabhani’s thought clashes with the concept of modern nation-state of Indonesia.

The experimental article presents the results of a study of methods of teaching reading to primary school children in Poland. The author describes the methodology and results of an experimental study involving certified teachers with relevant professional experience working in rural and urban schools. Respondents had to 1) choose from a list of methods that they know; 2) refer teaching methods to the names of their creators and its corresponding description; 3) determine the reasons for choosing one or another method of teaching reading; 4) name the frequency of use of reading exercises and their types; 5) provide information about the sources from which the interviewed teachers receive knowledge of the methods of teaching reading.The author emphasizes that primary school teachers in vocational education study and have at their disposal many methods of teaching reading to primary school children (color and sound method, composition method, good start method, an alternative method, natural reading method, early reading method, reading instruction and writing using the phonetic letter-color method, etc.). However, most often only one of them is used - analytical-synthetic, and the others are used sporadically. It has been experimentally proven that teachers do not see a connection between the low reading competence of many younger students and the limited methodological tools they use. Research results indicate routine and stereotypical exercises to improve reading, which may also be the cause of low effectiveness of reading instruction. It is necessary to raise the issue of the determinants of the analyzed pedagogical situation and look for effective methods of teacher training.
