Анотація:

The problem of mathematical models' adequacy in assessing seismic risk is considered. It is demonstrated that the currently used methods of testing such models make it possible to assess only the consistency of simulation and real data by counting the number of earthquake epicenters that appear in the areas with increased values of the fields with various indicators. The paper proposes a fundamentally new approach to testing adequacy of the seismic risk assessment models based on examining statistical hypotheses. Application of this approach is considered in a seismic risk assessment model for the territory of Armenia and the adjacent regions. Practical implementation of the proposed approach and the results obtained convincingly confirm that the tested mathematical model is adequate. Normality of the seismic risk values general set distribution calculated by the probabilistic model for Armenia and the adjacent territories is presented. Correlation coefficients of theoretical and empirical frequencies distribution are 0.75--0.99. It is shown that adequacy of the seismic risk assessment probabilistic model should be checked taking into account the earthquake abyssal levels. Conclusions are provided on operability and possibility of further use of the considered method in checking adequacy of assessing the seismic risk mathematical models

Анотація:

This paper takes Unit Commitment with Wind Power Electric Systems for instance and studies the application of relevant indicators in the short run adequacy decisions. It first conducted running adequacy assessment of the RBTS system, and then given unit combination solutions in the ample index constraints. The results show that the relevant indicators can be more accurately to depict the influence of random factors on system operation adequacy, and Unit Commitment decisions based adequacy index is able to give a unit commitment program at different adequacy levels. The research results provide a set of assessment indicators and assessment methods for short running adequacy problems of random fluctuations power accessing to large-scale power systems..

Purpose. Modeling today is one of the popular research methods related to increasing the efficiency of the functioning of rail transport units, because the model is a substitute for the original object that helps to study its properties. Compliance with the results obtained by model, the behavior of a real object is an important issue for modeling, so the adequacy verification is an integral part of this process. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to present a method for verifying the adequacy of the model of determination of rational investments in terms of sustainable development. Methodology. For models of dependence of the function of elasticity of investments in the directions of sustainable development on the characteristics of demand for services, checking for the adequacy on the basis of Fisher's criterion was carried out. For what zero hypothesis was formed on the equality of dispersion of inadequacy and dispersion of the experiment. Findings. The verification of models on adequacy has shown that the dependence of the functions of elasticity of investments in the areas of sustainable development from the parameters of demand for services adequately describes experimental results. Practical value. The performance of the adequacy of models confirmed the expediency of practical use of models in the management of railway transport depending units of the functions of elasticity of investments in the directions of sustainable development on the characteristics of demand for services of departments.

Rainfall-runoff models are frequently used by hydrologists to estimate runoff from rainfall and climate data, with the model adequacy assessed by comparing the level of agreement between flows simulated by the model and the recorded flows. This paper describes simple methods (visual plots, statistical parameters and dimensionless coefficients) which are commonly used to compare estimated and recorded streamflow time series and discusses their advantages and limitations. Results of a survey conducted to ascertain the required quality of flow estimates before they are considered to be satisfactory, as well as to identify preferred methods used by hydrologists in Australia to determine the adequacy of streamflow estimates, are also discussed in this paper. Information from the survey is also used to suggest objective criteria based on dimensionless coefficients that can be used as guides in assessing the adequacy of flows estimated by rainfall-runoff models. In particular, the coefficient of efficiency is a very useful indicator in assessing model adequacy.

Research Question: This paper presents a simulation model aimed at improving total adequacy calculation for performance indicators of the first phase of production management. Motivation: Defining a set of adequate performance indicators that are specific and highly important for the observed planning phase has a significant impact on the effectiveness of the production process management. The result of the developed model is the value of selected performance indicators adequacy. Consequently, it can be concluded whether defined performance indicators are essential for the observed phase or other performance indicators should be selected. The monitoring of defined performance indicators should provide complete information about the observed phase and improvement of the planning phase management. Idea: The main idea of this paper is to develop a user-friendly simulation model, in accordance with the basic principles of spreadsheet engineering, for improving the selection of adequate performance indicators. This model is intended for use in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) for the improvement of production management. Data: The data used in the paper are grounded on the scientific articles, reviews and empirical studies, related to the performance and performance indicators in production management. The set of most adequate performance indicators based on a relevant literature review and used in the model, represents performance indicators for the planning phase that are the most suitable for SMEs. Tools: The simulation model is developed in a spreadsheet environment. The use of spreadsheet applications enables simple data entry, processing, editing, analyzing and output reports compiling. Findings: Simulation results show the overall efficiency of the developed model in the determination of adequate performance indicators. They influence overall adequacy of performance indicators on the observed phase. Contribution: The main contribution of this paper lies in the model developed to maximize the adequacy of the performance indicators, suitable for use in the production management of SMEs.

Assessment and Reporting of Model Adequacy is an important step in the simulation modelling process. It stipulates the level of precision and accuracy, which are important features of the model predictions. In an academic research activity, an important step for model development is the process of the identification or accepting whether the model is wrong. The evaluation of the adequacy of developed models is not possible through a single statistical test. This paper delineates a technique to implement model adequacy. A live case is demonstrated on the proposed methodology by evaluating a simulation model which was designed by us to simulate a well-established mathematical model. A step by step methodological approach is delineated in this paper along with a case study of investigation of a simulation model with a mathematical model is used to demonstrate this methodology. The paper concludes with an Algorithm and a flow chart for performing model adequacy for assessing the adequacy of the developed model with existing models.

Анотація:

The objective of this study is to provide more empirical evidence on the impact of the capital adequacy ratio, as well as control and micro variables, on the financial stability of commercial banks in emerging markets such as Vietnam. The study analyzes the impact of the capital adequacy ratio on the financial stability of 18 Vietnamese commercial banks in the period 2010–2020 using the Generalized method of moments (GMM) model. Empirical research results show that the capital adequacy ratio has a positive correlation with the financial stability of Vietnamese commercial banks during the study period. Besides, the study also uses control variables such as Profitability through ROA and ROE, Bank Size (SIZE), Loans to Assets Ratio (LTA), Deposits to Assets Ratio (DTA), and Loan Loss Ratio (LLR), to analyze their impact on the financial stability of Vietnamese commercial banks. Based on the above results, the study proposes some policy implications to enhance the financial stability of Vietnamese commercial banks using the capital adequacy ratio and the control variables from the GMM model that are statistically significant. The paper also pointed out four limitations of the study in terms of data, research samples, methods and research models, so that further research can be more complete. International direct-to-participant (DTP) genomics research involves the use of mobile technology to recruit, consent, and study participants remotely. This model can facilitate research across broad geographies and many countries, but must also comply with the norms of multiple recruitment jurisdictions, with each jurisdiction typically requiring at least one local research ethics review. Each additional research ethics review increases bureaucratic hurdles without necessarily strengthening the protection of participants’ rights and interests. For DTP genomic research, obtaining a review may in fact be impossible in the absence of a local research partner. This paper proposes an “adequacy” approach, inspired by data protection law, to coordinate the regulation and oversight of international DTP genomics research. This involves one country voluntarily assessing whether another country’s research ethics reviews are equivalent to its own, in terms of objectives and effectiveness. Ethics-approved projects led by researchers from countries recognized as adequate are deemed to comply with local norms, eliminating the need for a duplicative local review. Adequacy preserves the sovereignty of countries to determine their own regulatory aims and which other countries to trust. It therefore provides a voluntary, incremental path towards greater global coordination of health research oversight.

Анотація:

Adequate cardiopulmonary resuscitation is an important predictor of survival, however, obesity provides a significant physical barrier to thoracic compressions. This study explores the effect of morbid obesity on compression adequacy. We performed a prospective randomised controlled crossover study, assessing the adequacy of thoracic compressions on a manikin modified to emulate a morbidly obese patient. Participants recruited from critical care departments were randomised to perform continuous compressions for two minutes on each manikin. Accelerometers were used to measure thoracic wall movement. The primary endpoint was a composite measure of compression adequacy (rate, depth and recoil). Secondary endpoints were the individual components of the composite outcome and measures of perceived effectiveness, fatigue, and pain. One hundred and one participants were recruited. There was a significant difference between the obese and control groups in the composite endpoint (4% versus 30%, P <0.001), as well as the individual components of adequacy (P <0.01 for all). Quartile data showed significant deterioration in adequacy of depth and recoil in both groups, and this occurred significantly earlier in the obese group (P ≤0.001). Participants’ perception of effectiveness was significantly lower (P ≤0.001) in the obese group, and levels of fatigue (P ≤0.001) and pain (P ≤0.001) significantly higher. Morbid obesity impairs the adequacy of thoracic compressions for trained rescuers in a simulation-based model. Participants were not fully aware of how ineffective compressions were. There is evidence of earlier fatigue further reducing effectiveness. These findings have significant implications for the training of rescuers in a clinically relevant population and the planning of future research.

Анотація:

Objective - The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of capital on bankruptcy banks. The hypothesis of this research is that capital has an effect on the bankruptcy of a bank. Methodology/Technique - This research examines financial reports between 2005-2014. An econometric model with a logistical regression analysis technique is used. In this study, capital is measured by CAR, taking into account credit risk; CAR by taking into account market risk; Ratio of Obligation to Provide Minimum Capital for Credit Risk and Operational Risk; Ratio of Minimum Capital Adequacy Ratio for Credit Risk, Operational Risk and Market Risk; Capital Adequacy Requirements (CAR). Findings - The results show that the capital adequacy ratio for market ratio and capital adequacy ratio for credit ratio and operational ratio support the research hypothesis and can form a logit model. The test results of CAR by taking into account credit risk, Minimum Capital Requirement Ratio for Credit Risk, Operational Risk and Market Risk and Minimum Capital Provision Obligations do not support the research hypothesis. Novelty – This paper contribute to bank bankruptcy prediction models based on time dimension and bank groups using financial ratios which are expected can influence bank in bankrupt condition. The Hybrid system (Ambler et al. 2002b), implemented within Isabelle/HOL, allows object logics to be represented using higher order abstract syntax (HOAS), and reasoned about using tactical theorem proving in general, and principles of (co)induction in particular. The form of HOAS provided by Hybrid is essentially a lambda calculus with constants.Of fundamental interest is the form of the lambda abstractions provided by Hybrid. The user has the convenience of writing lambda abstractions using names for the binding variables. However, each abstraction is actually a definition of a de Bruijn expression, and Hybrid can unwind the user's abstractions (written with names) to machine friendly de Bruijn expressions (without names). In this sense the formal system contains a hybrid of named and nameless bound variable notation.In this paper, we present a formal theory in a logical framework, which can be viewed as a model of core Hybrid, and state and prove that the model is representationally adequate for HOAS. In particular, it is the canonical translation function from λ-expressions to Hybrid that witnesses adequacy. We also prove two results that characterise how Hybrid represents certain classes of λ-expression.We provide the first detailed proof to be published that proper locally nameless de Bruijn expressions and α-equivalence classes of λ-expressions are in bijective correspondence. This result is presented as a form of de Bruijn representational adequacy, and is a key component of the proof of Hybrid adequacy.The Hybrid system contains a number of different syntactic classes of expression, and associated abstraction mechanisms. Hence, this paper also aims to provide a self-contained theoretical introduction to both the syntax and key ideas of the system. Although this paper will be of considerable interest to those who wish to work with Hybrid in Isabelle/HOL, a background in automated theorem proving is not essential.

AbstractA polynomial is defined on signed matroids which contains as specializations the Kauffman bracket polynomial of knot theory, the Tutte polynomial of a matroid, the partition function of the anisotropic Ising model, the Kauffman–Murasugi polynomials of signed graphs. It leads to generalizations of a theorem of Lickorish and Thistlethwaite showing that adequate link diagrams do not represent the unknot. We also investigate semi-adequacy and the span of the bracket polynomial in this wider context.

Although Neural Machine Translation (NMT) models have advanced state-of-the-art performance in machine translation, they face problems like the inadequate translation. We attribute this to that the standard Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) cannot judge the real translation quality due to its several limitations. In this work, we propose an adequacyoriented learning mechanism for NMT by casting translation as a stochastic policy in Reinforcement Learning (RL), where the reward is estimated by explicitly measuring translation adequacy. Benefiting from the sequence-level training of RL strategy and a more accurate reward designed specifically for translation, our model outperforms multiple strong baselines, including (1) standard and coverage-augmented attention models with MLE-based training, and (2) advanced reinforcement and adversarial training strategies with rewards based on both word-level BLEU and character-level CHRF3. Quantitative and qualitative analyses on different language pairs and NMT architectures demonstrate the effectiveness and universality of the proposed approach.
