Theatre practitioners have often had a rather paradoxical relationship with performance spaces. On one hand, we tend to assert that performances can (and do) occur everywhere; yet, on the other hand, theatre buildings are seen as a privileged site: an artistic home, a place for “serious” works and often a visible indicator that a theatrical company has come into its own professionally. It is perhaps ironic that, at the very historical moment that theatrical tropes seem to be everywhere — in the marketing of the urban as a performative identity or in the new “experience economy,” where “work is theatre and every business a stage” (Pine and Gilmour) — the number of viable, affordable spaces for actual theatre productions and rehearsals has dwindled rapidly.

La presente investigación, producto de un trabajo de maestría de la Escuela superior de administración pública, en sinergia con la Fundación Universitaria Comfenalco Santander, establece en primer lugar una caracterización de las principales empresas de servicios públicos de acueducto, aseo y alcantarillado del Área Metropolitana de Bucaramanga (AMB), desde sus capacidades de prestación de servicios en la actualidad. La segunda parte muestra el comportamiento económico de la empresa de servicio público con proyección triple A del AMB, en un posible escenario a futuro de conformación de distrito metropolitano. La tercera parte, desarrolla la prospectiva de la empresa de servicio público, con la capacidad de convertirse en triple A, suministrando servicios continuos con cobertura del AMB, en sinergia con otras entidades, permitiendo hacer frente al crecimiento poblacional, el desarrollo territorial y la proyección a distrito metropolitano, definiendo las variables estratégicas sobre las que se deben actuar en el largo plazo, las cuales tienen una alta influencia en el sistema y los posibles escenarios a futuro de la organización, de forma que sea una guía para el proceso de planeación y toma de decisiones, que incluya los posibles cambios en el entorno producto de la dinámica regional. This research first establishes a characterization of the main aqueduct, cleaning, and sewerage public service companies of the Bucaramanga Metropolitan Area (AMB), from their current service provision capabilities. The second part shows the economic behavior of the public service company with triple A projection of the AMB, in the territorial development and the projection to the metropolitan district. The third part develops the prospective of the triple A public service companies of the AMB, in front of the territorial development and the projection to the metropolitan district, defining the strategic variables on which they must act in the long term, which have a high influence in the system and the possible future scenarios of the organization so that it is a guide for the planning and decision-making process, which includes possible changes in the environment as a result of territorial development. Finally, the study could become an input for the Bucaramanga Chamber of Commerce proposal on the feasibility of establishing a cohesion alternative in the public services area for the municipalities that make up the Bucaramanga Metropolitan Area.

Financial statement analysis is used to determine the company's financial performance as a consideration in making decisions and evaluating the company's financial performance for the next period. However, the financial statements prepared by each company do not fully meet the applicable accounting standards and principles. For this reason, the accounting process requires Financial Accounting Standards (SAK) that contains guidelines for every transaction made by the company. This standard allows interested parties to interpret and compare its financial statements with other companies. PT Metropolitan Kentjana Tbk has been able to present information about the basis for preparing financial statements, providing information that has not been presented in the financial statements including displaying the general description of the company, accounting policies, and an overview of accounting policies, and others. This shows that the financial statements of PT Metropolitan Kentjana Tbk for the notes to the financial statements have met the existing standards. The financial statements presented by PT Metropolitan Kentjana Tbk have met the requirements in PSAK 01

Cultural enterprises are today an important component in the development processes of many territories. In urban centers—particularly those located within metropolitan areas—cultural companies constitute a main element of the economy, due to their ability to activate new production chains and revitalize local regions. The objective of this work is to examine the traditional cultural sector (subsectors 18, 59, 60, 90 and 91 of NACE-09) of small and medium-sized cities from the perspective of the financial conditions of the particular companies involved. The use of multivariate techniques for reducing dimensions enables the specification of key factors within the financial structures of companies to assemble homogeneous groups of firms, in order to then determine which factors influence their profitability in both intra- and extra-metropolitan contexts. The results of the applied method indicate heterogeneity in the financial situations of these cultural industries in the activities and cities analyzed. Differences are marked in the financial profiles of cultural companies in intra-metropolitan environments in terms of business profitability, debt quality, financial stability, investment capacity, and costs of personnel. On the other hand, the economic-financial structures of companies in extra-metropolitan cities are determined through efficiency in the allocation of economic-financial resources, profit margins, and investment capacity. Belonging to one cultural sub-sector or another and a particular location within an intra- or extra-metropolitan urban environment also play some part in a company’s economic and financial structure. Hence there is a need to differentiate the design of intervention strategies (instruments) aimed at promoting the system/environment to which the company belongs as well as the company itself.

Reflecting a commitment to public service and an interest in abiding investments, life insurance companies after the Second World War were responsible for the construction of an unprecedented number of housing developments across the United States. They were able to help alleviate housing shortages, elevate the standards of postwar housing, and offer new forms of modern living. This article examines the practices of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and its developing of Parklabrea (now Park La Brea) in Los Angeles during the 1940s. As the largest housing community west of the Mississippi River, Parklabrea stands prominently in the center of the city, though it is elided in histories of California housing. Against the backdrop of postwar public housing, which failed in part due to a disregard for urban context, Parklabrea’s history reveals how life insurance companies were increasingly attuned to the social, physical, and economic contexts of postwar cities.

Cell phone technology has advanced rapidly with the start of 5G being rolled out across the networks. To keep up with this demand, cell tower companies have responded by erecting numerous towers. Engineers and researchers analyze the network topography to make recommendations for cell tower locations. Cell tower companies evaluate these recommendations using a host of other factors. In this research, a model was developed to help a regional telecommunications company predict throughput for locations using competitive and demand factors. Model results represented a large improvement over internal key performance indicators.

The Tokyo Expressway, opened to traffic in 1959, was constructed by a private company which has managed it ever since. It leases floor space underneath the road to shops and offices. Without concern for heritage, the motorway was built on land created by filling in sections of centuries-old canals. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government was responsible for this infilling; its prime concern about motorway construction seemed to be about profiteering. Local traders' opposition to the motorway forced the Metropolitan Government to conclude a conciliatory agreement mainly to save face. Consequently, for almost two years, the Tokyo Expressway was a thriving shopping centre which barely catered for motor traffic.

Ride-hailing services, which are provided by companies such as Uber and Lyft, are increasingly common in many American cities. Several cities are now regulating or considering regulation of these services. However, regulation has not been well documented across jurisdictions, and city planners and policy makers often want to understand what regulations are being put in place in comparable metropolitan areas. Therefore, the objective of this research was to provide a qualitative comparison of the regulations of ride-hailing companies between major American cities. This goal was accomplished through the evaluation of five driver-related and three company-related types of ride-hailing regulations in 15 major American cities. The driver-related regulations included requirements for background checks, driver’s licenses, vehicle registrations, special licenses such as business licenses, and external vehicle displays. The company-related regulations included requirements for the number of ride-hailing vehicles operating in a metropolitan area, providing a list of drivers to the city, and sharing trip data with the city. The results of this qualitative analysis reveal significant variation in the number of driver-related regulations imposed in the cities that were evaluated. Another key finding is that ride-hailing companies may be less likely to operate in cities where fingerprint-based background checks are mandatory. As ride-hailing regulations continue to evolve, this research can help planners and policy makers better understand the current state of local regulations by providing a systematic comparison across major metropolitan areas in the United States.

STCP is the main bus operator in the Porto Metropolitan Area. The experimental phase of using fleet tracking and management systems fitted on public transport vehicles began in the late eighties, but only in 2002 the current system (SAEI) covered all the buses of the company. Nowadays, these systems are integral company management systems. In this paper, the experience of the past six years or so is presented. The main reasons for the use of such systems are detailed, the architecture and functionalities are described and the importance of accessing real-time information together with subsequent analysis of the data obtained is underlined.

This paper examines the changing perception of consumers towards Nepalese insurance products. Descriptive and causal-comparative research designs are used to achieve the objectives and data are collected through a structured questionnaire from 400 respondents of Kathmandu valley and Parsa district. Descriptive statistics, as well as multiple regression models, are used to analyze the data. It is found that consumer perception (dependent variable) is positively correlated with independent variables (company loyalty, service quality, satisfaction level, company image and ease of procedures). Company image, company loyalty and satisfaction level are the most dominant factors that influence the perception of consumers towards insurance products in the context of Nepalese insurance companies. This study is an endeavor to extend the literature of changing the perception of consumers towards insurance products and it is the first to report the evidence from the combination of Kathmandu valley and Birgunj metropolitan city of Parsa district perspective.

During the 1670s and 1680s, the English East India Company pursued an aggressive programme of imperial expansion in the Asian maritime world, culminating in a series of armed assaults on the Mughal Empire. With important exceptions, most scholarship has viewed the Company's coercive imperialism in the later seventeenth century and the First Anglo-Mughal War as the results primarily, if not exclusively, of political and economic conditions in South Asia. This article re-examines and re-interprets this burst of imperial expansion in light of political developments in England and the wider English empire during the later Stuart era. The article contends that the Company's aggressive overseas expansion was pursued for metropolitan and pan-imperial purposes as much as for South Asian ones. The corporation sought to centralise and militarise the English presence in Asia in order both to maintain its control of England's trade to the East and in support of Stuart absolutism. By the eve of the Glorious Revolution, the Company's aggressive imperialism formed part of a wider political project to create an absolute monarchy in England and to establish an autocratic English empire overseas.

Abstract Democracy demands a capital city that represents a country and is not removed from it. If the government is to be of the people and for the people, then the capital must be able to relate to the people—and the people to the capital. In the United States, democracy struggles not just because of what happens outside of and comes to Washington, but because of what happens inside Washington. The federal government, in other words, faces democratic problems because of the type of place that Washington is. There are many factors to consider in deciding where a country should be governed from, but the ability of the capital to understand the country it governs is certainly one of the most important of these factors. The goal of this symposium article is to consider the contemporary democratic crisis in these geographical terms. Washington was initially a rural area meant to govern a rural country. It has gradually turned into a dynamic metropolitan area meant to govern a country featuring many—and many different—dynamic metropolitan areas. During its entire history, though, Washington has remained dominated by a single company: the federal government. A company town will struggle to attract and to cultivate the large range of people featured in the United States. Given that a company town struggles to satisfy the democratic demands of a capital, the question then becomes whether other types of places would better satisfy these democratic demands.

A special importance in the stimulation of the public transport use, is the increase of the informing degree of travellers with regards to the transport networks. The paper presents technical data regarding the making of the digital map of the public transport in the metropolitan area of Cluj. The digital map was created by the authors, using data from Open Street Map site and data collected with the help of GPS, made available by Public Transport Company Cluj-Napoca S.A. The digital map created for public transport in the Municipality of Cluj-Napoca and Metropolitan Area of Cluj, with detailed maps routes, offers to users, information on public transport which leads to the efficiency of services and passengers’ safety, increasing mobility and sustainability of Cluj-Napoca city.

The paper empirically evaluated the impact of the degree of metropolitan digital economy growth on the total factor output of businesses using panel data from manufacturing listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen A-shares from 2011 to 2019. It has been discovered that, first and foremost, urban digital economy growth can greatly improve business total factor output. After replacing the explanatory factors and central explanatory variables, the benchmark regression findings stay robust. Second, the impact mechanism test shows that metropolitan digital economy growth promotes company technological innovation, thereby increasing enterprise total factor output. Third, the sample is split into three samples in the eastern, central, and western regions, and the regressions are run independently in each. According to the analysis findings.

The second part contains an analysis of the level of socio-economic development of rural communes, in which enterprises included in the study are located, against the background of all non-metropolitan communes. Although English language is considered an essential requirement to find a position in the Brazilian work market, little do we know about what proficiency level is expected from workers by companies and how language assessment occurs at work. This investigation was developed in an automation company located in São Paulo metropolitan area. It is a case study which aimed to better understand the language use expectations and analyze the assessment process to identify: the assessment tools used in the company, its language view and if the assessment process meets the company’s language use expectations. This study uses questionnaires, interviews and documents analysis for data collection and triangulation of sources. The company is a place where English is used in daily tasks due to international partnerships and taught in an in-company course. The results show a mismatch between the proficiency and achievement tests applied in the company and its language view. In addition English language is a gatekeeper in recruitment process only for some positions. The language use expectations for workers vary according to their position and department but are not assessed likewise.

AbstractEncompassing events from 1680 to the mid 1750s, this article examines the organization and adaptation to capital and credit crises of East Indies trade participants in two metropolitan locales – one whose core bounded the North and Baltic Seas, and the other centred around the South China Sea. It shows that in both locales commercial and governmental actors relied not only on state or company, but also on decentralized, port-based practices, institutions, and networks to solve problems and support a shared information culture. Thus, the rules of what I term ‘commercial commons’, rather than an imperial conflict, characterized many East Indies endeavours of this era. East India companies operated in multiple transnational, distributed, and port-based metropolitan locales for their access to capital and credit, and to police financial failure.

Arriving at the Maratha court of Poona in the 1790s, British artists struggled to integrate metropolitan aesthetics into the business of imperial expansion. "Costume" lay at the heart of this conflict, pitting an aesthetic concept against an early ethnographic tool of the East India Company. By focusing on British representations of the Maratha durbar, this essay argues that "costume" tested the ideological limits of Western aesthetics and imperial representation at the turn of the century.

ABSTRACT: The present descriptive quantitative research tries to find out which machine learning model is the most efficient to predict the utility of a bulk liquefied petroleum gas trading company in Metropolitan Lima. To determine daily profit, which will be a variable dependent on the output model. This dependent parameter has five independent variables: sale price, quantity sold, purchase cost, transportation cost and kilometers traveled, as well as the values with the highest correlation coefficients. There are several machine learning models, for this research the Artificial Neural Networks, Multiple Linear Regression and Random Forest models will be used, which estimated the utility through their own mathematical algorithms. To simulate the algorithms of the mentioned models, the Python program was used. These models were trained to learn and validate 70% and 30% of the database, that is, of the 235 data collected, 165 data were used to calibrate and 70 data to validate. When making the comparison between the automatic learning models for the estimation of the daily utility of the trading company, the Random Forest model was obtained as the best option, obtaining an R2 of 0.959 and also having the lowest statistical error rates with respect to the models. of Artificial Neural Networks and Multiple Linear Regression. In companies organizing urban public transport, passengers’ feedback is usually collected personally, by phone, by e-mail, or via the Internet. Business Intelligence tools enable this process by automating the data flow between systems used to collect, process, and analyse data by applying analytical Business Intelligence tools. The most important advantage resulting from implementing the tool is facilitating contact between the company and passengers, which allows for an immediate response to the information reported by passengers by introducing the changes in passenger service offered by the company. Another advantage of the discussed tools is the ability to analyse the collected data quickly and easily. Due to the low implementation costs, the developed tool is dedicated mainly to the companies organizing urban public transport. The article presents an example of the use of Power BI tools in the Metropolitan Transport Authority, a company that is the largest organizer of public transport in Poland.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the influence of perceived CSR and its influence on customer satisfaction and loyalty in the hotel industry. Design/methodology/approach Personal surveys of hotel guests were carried out in three metropolitan cities of India. The survey resulted in 327 valid responses which were further analyzed. To test the proposed model, structural equation modeling was applied. Findings The findings show that consumer perception of CSR activities positively influences consumer identification with the company, and identification positively results in customer satisfaction and loyalty. Research limitations/implications Findings of the study have important implications for hospitality companies as they suggest that hotel managers should invest more in socially responsible initiatives since consumers tend to support those firms that are perceived as socially responsible by developing a sense of loyalty towards them. Originality/value This study provides a comprehensive framework that integrates social identity and social exchange perspectives towards building customer satisfaction and loyalty.

The earliest sickness survey of the US Public Health Service, which started in 1915, was the Service’s first socioeconomic study of an industrial community. It was also the first to define illness as a person’s inability to work. The survey incorporated the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company’s definition of illness, which, instead of sickness rates, focused on duration of illness as a proxy of time lost from work. This kind of survey took place in the broader context of the reform movements of the Progressive Era and the social surveys conducted in the United States, which led to the creation of the Federal Commission on Industrial Relations, where the Service’s sickness survey originated. The Service’s focus on the socioeconomic classification of families and definition of illness as the inability to work enabled it to show the strong link between poverty and illness among industrial workers. The leader of the survey, Edgar Sydenstricker, and the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company came up with new ways to measure the health of the population, which also influenced the Service’s studies of the effects of the Great Depression on public health and the National Health Survey of 1935–1936. Keeping good professionals has been one of the main objectives of companies, especially those who add value and dedicate their time and efforts to achieve the company goals. In order to retain these professionals, companies have looked for new remunerations, besides the traditional one, known as strategic remuneration, along with a wide fringe of other benefits. In this way, the present study aims to identify the satisfaction level of its operational employees concerning the types of strategic remuneration and the package of benefits adopt by a multinational company in the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre. The methodology presented in this monograph was based on a case study in the company mentioned before, which prefers not be identified. Theinformation was raised through some descriptive research of qualitative nature, through a semi-structured interview with an employee from the human resources area who clarified the key point for the study development and for the quantitative research. This research was applied through a questionnaire with operational employees and aims to identify if they know the strategic remuneration programs and the package of benefits offered by the company and also identify if they are used to participating in some of them.

This article explores the significance of RED Production's location in the north-west of England, analysing the complexities of its positioning as a ‘regional’ company contextualised within the broader issues surrounding regional television production created by the politics and regulation of UK broadcasting. The article contends that recent analyses of creative clusters have privileged economic factors over cultural ones and provides a counter argument that demonstrates the importance of historical evolution and cultural traditions in understanding why RED has been so successful. It examines the significance of an anti-metropolitan discourse of northernness as a broad cultural tradition that shapes RED's identity and production strategy, and, more specifically, the profound legacy of the Manchester-based Granada Television. The article explores the reasons for and consequences of RED's move to MediaCityUK in 2013 and its acquisition by the European conglomerate Studiocanal. It also discusses the ongoing problem of the vexed relationship between London and the regions in British broadcasting, and the impact of an increasingly international orientation on how television production companies position themselves in a changing marketplace.

Cement is a major construction material used in civil engineering works due to which its demand is very high. A proper cement brand selection is a tough task. Different brands have different pricing and quality because they are from different origin and industries. The consumers and suppliers of the cement market may feel that every brand they are buying and selling is of good quality. Most of the cement may conform to the minimum standard for use. The study has been focused to assess the consumption of different cement brands available in the Pokhara metropolitan city. To carry out the research, cement supplier’s data and field data were collected. Consumers within the study area were considered during the survey. Visual inspection of maximum sites was done. The different brands of cement in use at the site were examined by field survey and analysis was done on SPSS software to obtain the results. Maximum cement consumers choose Shivam (30%) in OPC type and Brij cement (25%) in PPC type. During the selection of the cement, consumers are mainly affected by contractors with (35%) without any quality test of cement. 15% of the cement consumers don’t know about the brand of cement they are using in their household construction. 77.50% of the consumers don’t do quality assurance with engineers during household construction. 70% of the cement consumers are unknown about the concrete ratio in structural members. 97.5% of the cement consumers are unaware of the manufacturing date. Only 12.50% of the cement consumers are affected by advertisement of cement. 80% of the RMC company uses Shivam cement and 20% uses Argakhachi cement. A positive increasing trend of annual cement consumption is seen from 2070 BS to 2076 BS. Cement consumption forecasting for 2080 BS would be 289942.089 metric ton with upper bound and lower bound consumption being 209742.725 metric ton and 370141.450 metric ton respectively. Cement consumption from RMC suppliers in the study area in 2080 BS would be 49125.005 metric ton with upper bound and lower bound consumption being 59572.830 metric ton and 38677.190 metric ton respectively.

Pharmaceuticals and hormones (PhACs) enter the aquatic environment in multiple ways, posing potential adverse effects on non-target organisms. They have been widely detected in drinking water sources, challenging water companies to reassure good quality drinking water. The aim of this study was to evaluate the concentration of sixteen PhACs in both raw and treated drinking water sources in the Metropolitan Area of Turin—where Società Metropolitana Acque Torino (SMAT) is the company in charge of the water cycle management—and evaluate the potential human health risks associated to these compounds. Multivariate spatial statistical analysis techniques were used in order to characterize the areas at higher risk of pollution, taking into account the already existing SMAT sampling points’ network. Health risks were assessed considering average detected concentrations and provisional guideline values for individual compounds as well as their combined mixture. As reported in the just-issued Drinking Water Directive 2020/2184/UE, in order to establish priority substances, a risk assessment of contaminants present in raw drinking water sources is required for monitoring, identifying potential health risks and, if necessary, managing their removal. The results showed negligibly low human health risks in both raw water sources and treated water.

O texto apresenta e analisa as mudanças na estrutura industrial das Regiões Metropolitanas de Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro e São Paulo, decorrentes das novas condições de competitividade em que se insere o País no presente. No levantamento empírico elaborado, utiliza-se o emprego formal como indicador da estrutura industrial. Os dados foram extraídos da Relação Anual de Informações Sociais – Rais, Ministério do Trabalho, em relação ao período 1986-1996, e sua interpretação baseia-se nos campos de análise da localização industrial, das cadeias produtivas, da competitividade empresarial e, ainda, da organização espacial da produção. O que se procura mostrar é que a maior abertura internacional e a fragmentação das cadeias produtivas têm fortalecido especializações regionais geradoras de focos dinâmicos, mesmo em áreas tidas como regiões-problema. As novas localizações, contudo, só se verificam nos segmentos mais leves da indústria, de menor densidade de capital e mais intensivos em mão-de-obra. Abstract: The text details and analyses the changes in the industrial system of the metropolitan regions of Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo arising from the new competitive conditions which this country is currently subject to. For the purposes of the empirical study carried out, formal employment was used as a measure of the industrial system. The data came from the Annual Report on Social Information (Rais) of the Ministry of Labour relating to the period 1986-1996. Interpretation of the data was based on analysis of industrial location, production chains, company competitiveness and the geographical organization of production. The intention was to show that greater openness to international connections and the fragmentation of chains of production has strengthened regional specializations, creating dynamic nuclei, even in areas said to be problem regions. This reorganisation, however, has taken place only in light industry which is labour intensive and has a lower capital concentration. This article examines the colonial activity of French East India Company, which was a commercial enterprise engaged in international trade founded in 1664. The goal of this research is to determine the prerequisites for its establishment, conditions for the formation of capital and administrative branches, perspectives on expanding the network of trading stations and trade routes. An assessment is given to the directive formation of capital and work of the officials (patrons). The article employs the methods of analysis of the historical documents, testimonies of travelers, synchronism, diachrony and cognitive symbiosis. Attention is given to unattainability of levelling off the profit margin French East India Company through trading exchange and work of transnational corporations. The scientific novelty consists in revealing the causes of unstable situation of French East India Company and insufficient development of market relations within its metropolitan territory, which led to a series of rearrangements and speculations, poor equipment of ships and shipwrecks. The results can be used ib studying trade companies of the early Modern Age, particularly with regards to Iberia and colonization of the West Indies. The conclusion is formulated on the prerequisites for the establishment of a powerful French East India Company that were not implemented; and the unstable economic situation resulted in annulment of the company during the Great French Revolution.

Se administró el MBI-GS1 a una muestra representativa de cada grupo de trabajadores (permanentes y eventuales) que se encontraban laborando en esta empresa. In this article Jane Turner explores the trilogy of works titled Re-placing Texts, together with Epilogue, devised and performed by the innovative group Plane Performance, now in its tenth year. The trilogy – Three Degrees of Frost, SET and Round-about – are rewritings of Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard, David Lean's film Brief Encounter, and Rogers and Hammerstein's film musical, Carousel. The article examines the strategies adopted by the company as acts of ‘creative vandalism’, both in terms of current understandings of theatre practice and in terms of their treatment of the original texts. Jane Turner argues that the dramatic texts have become ossified by cultural usage and that the radical stance taken by the company allows for a counter-cultural position to re-emerge. The author is a Principal Lecturer in Contemporary Arts at Manchester Metropolitan University. She has recently published work on Eugenio Barba and applied theatre practice.

This study describes a collaborative modeling process deployed at the Cantareira Water Supply System (CWSS) in São Paulo City Metropolitan Area, Brazil. The CWSS faces challenges for meeting the increasing water demand, while land-use and climate change and their combined effect on its water cycle and balance have created a complex water resources management problem. Through a stakeholder engagement process—involving scientists and policymakers, the water utility company, and state administration—environmental simulation models were developed to elicit and represent multiple environmental, economic, and policy perspectives, developing a mutual language to communicate and establish common goals of water resources management. Study outputs include estimation of biophysical and economic benefits associated with prioritized native vegetation restoration activities in the source watersheds. These outputs are deployed in support of landscape planning and the decision process integrating multiple stakeholder perspectives in São Paulo state administration, the water utility company, and municipalities.

This essay explores the ways in which employees of the East India Company (EIC) used the subversive form of satirical poetry during the early decades of the nineteenth century as one way of undermining orientalist bodies of knowledge that had guided previous policies of governing British India. Moreover, it will also be examined how these satires made use of widely known formal arrangements and poetic conventions of neoclassical poetry in order to undermine or break with previously accepted orientalist values of governance and related bodies of knowledge that were central to the education and training of new company officials during the latter decades of the eighteenth century. The specific case of the EIC will be used as a springboard for further discussions about whether similar instances of adapting metropolitan poetic conventions in colonial settings were common in other European imperial spaces on the subcontinent, such as Portuguese India.

ABSTRACT Shortly after William Caxton had established his printer’s shop in Westminster, he described himself as a citizen and conjury—the latter a term he seems to have coined in order to describe how seriously he viewed his role and activities as a sworn member of the London Company of Mercers. A generation later, the London Grocer and copyist Richard Hill demonstrated an affinity with the Caxton view on metropolitan citizenship and mercantile values. The survival of a varied collection of Hill’s transcriptions in a single manuscript provides a range of evidence to support this conclusion. Across a thirty-year career as copyist, Hill retained an interest in preserving material he had begun transcribing as a London apprentice and young man. As his career progressed, he augmented his collection with songs, carols, and other miscellaneous informational, didactic, and polite reading materials. Such varied texts represented (for Caxton, Hill, and many of their contemporaries) the metropolitan mercantile tastes and values that Hill wished to preserve, as a citizen and conjury in his own right.

Millennials have an important role in the growth of the company nowadays and in the future where the workforce will be majority by the millennial generation. Employee engagement has become a potential factor for organizational performance. Many leaders or practitioners of human resource management still using the old method and have poorly understanding on how to engage their millennials which lead them to many difficulties in managing millennial which results in organizations failing to keep them working within the desired time period and also failed to engage them for their best contribution to the company. The purpose of this case study is to understand the strategies and methods used by a company located in Jakarta, the largest metropolitan city in Indonesia, in order to engage its millennial employees to get more contribution of organizational productivity. This case study uses triangulation which is a multimethod approach when collecting and analyzing data, to ensure the correctness of data or information obtained from a variety of different perspectives. In this study data was obtained from interviews, online data searches through the internet regarding the company and 2018 quarterly reports from the HR Department. The findings revealed that the HR Department used specific strategies for career growth opportunities, good communication between superiors and subordinates, pleasant work environment, positive image of the company in the community. The results obtained are very beneficial to the organization growth and company’s success.
