Анотація:

A job description document is a formal document that exists in the organization that usually has a formal social structure. Whether it is a small-scale organization to a large-scale organization, every formal organization usually has this document. The study presented in this paper tries to present the summary of the research related to the job description document. In the previous research, there is less attention has been given to explore the role of a job description in the various aspects of decision making in the company. Therefore, the importance and the role of the job description to the company, especially in supporting decision-making in the company, is explored in this study. In this study, we reviewed 43 papers published between 2001 and 2021. Several aspects related to job description such as 1) Definition of the job description; 2) Development of job descriptions; and 3) Benefits of job descriptions based on four reviewed papers are explained. The selected articles are taken from the article database engine: Emerald Insight, Semantic Scholar, Proquest, Science Direct, Elsevier, Springer Link with the keyword "Job Description". The intention of this review is to address the following questions related to (i) in what aspect the research related to job descriptions are conducted; (ii) what the contribution of job descriptions document to the decision-making in the company.

Анотація:

This article contains a meta-analysis of representations of the main models of recruiting women into the field of professional business in European, English language and Russian periodical press. The aim of this study is to systemize the theoretical-conceptual and practical aspects of reproducing certain means of recruitment into the economic elite, as well as the restrictions which women face when choosing a professional development trajectory. A meta-description of the career paths of those women who established themselves in the entrepreneurial field allows for reconstructing women’s scenarios of choosing and forwarding their career in business, as well as for constructing a typology of narrative strategies which affect women’s choices in professional development trajectories in the context of different countries. The empirical basis for this study consists of full-text articles from periodical and serial publications in leading foreign and domestic academic journals. Using critical discourse analysis of articles and open data allows for reconstructing the significance of gender aspects when it comes to choosing a career in business, as well as for tracing the influence of the context of developing female entrepreneurship on recruitment mechanisms in various countries. The results of the empirical study show that the representation of mechanisms for recruiting women into the professional environment is differentiated in different ways in English language and Russian periodic press. Peculiarities inherent to different countries are one of the factors which affect the development of business trajectories specific to certain regions. In Europe a discourse-system education prevails as the most adequate means for establishing oneself in the economic field. Eastern Asian countries mostly focus on the immigration process. In Russia we see gender labeled strategies in leadership positions. The manner in which recruitment mechanisms are pitched also varies: European articles mostly focus on positive trends and representing the discourse of successful business cases, while Russian periodical press concentrates on the obstacles and restrictions women have to deal with when choosing a career path. The narratives used for reconstructing the mechanisms for recruiting women into the realm of business, together with the terminology chosen by the authors of this article, confirm a positive representation of female entrepreneurship in Europe, an ambiguous nature of the business environment in countries of the Far East, and a certain degree of underdevelopment in Russia’s segment.

Анотація:

Literature reviews allow education professionals to identify effective interventions and assess trends in research and practice. However, issues with transparency and the specific methods used in conducting literature searches have the potential to limit the utility of reviews. This study evaluated the description of article search procedures and selection processes appearing in literature reviews and meta-analyses published in special education journals from 2004 to 2016. Findings reveal a considerable increase in the number of published meta-analyses and systematic reviews over this time period. Nonetheless, the validity of reviews is potentially undermined by incomplete descriptions of methods. Reports of inclusion criteria further suggests the results of many reviews may be biased. A discussion of implications follows a description of findings.

Implementation of the Scheduling Domain Description ModelThis paper presents the problem of auniform scheduling domain description. It was established that the algorithm used for scheduling is general, disregarding the type of scheduling domain. On the basis of five different scheduling domains, a general description model was developed. The research is focused on the programming application of the resource scheduling model, presented as a UML class diagram. Diverse meta-languages for the model description were considered. Of these XML, an EAV model and object oriented languages have shown to be the most effective. Even though Java is not widely used as a description language, it has proved effective as a meta-language for the description of the extensible scheduling model.

AbstractBackground: Business Process Modelling (BPM) is one of the most important phases of information system design. Business Process (BP) meta-models allow capturing informational and behavioural aspects of business processes. Unfortunately, standard BP meta-modelling approaches focus just on process description, providing different BP models. It is not possible to compare and identify related daily practices in order to improve BP models. This lack of information implies that further research in BP meta-models is needed to reflect the evolution/change in BP. Considering this limitation, this paper introduces a new BP meta-model designed by Business Process and Practice Alignment Meta-model (BPPAMeta-model). Our intention is to present a meta-model that addresses features related to the alignment between daily work practices and BP descriptions. Objectives: This paper intends to present a metamodel which is going to integrate daily work information into coherent and sound process definitions. Methods/Approach: The methodology employed in the research follows a design-science approach. Results: The results of the case study are related to the application of the proposed meta-model to align the specification of a BP model with work practices models. Conclusions: This meta-model can be used within the BPPAM methodology to specify or improve business processes models based on work practice descriptions.

Анотація:

The autobiographical character of Solzhenitsyn’s oeuvre, inseparable nature of ethical and aesthetic views, have shaped the author’s unique aesthetics. From the point of view of the author of this article, eliciting the meta-poetic principles defines the way of comprehension of Solzhenitsyn’s artistic world, of his ‘phenomenon’. The article presents the analysis of two of Solzhenitsyn’s significant meta-poetic principles: self-meta-description and self-psychologism. The research is based on Diary R-17 which should be introduced into the readers’ and researchers’ circulation as an important key to understanding Solzhenitsyn’s artistic method. An insight into the French edition of the Diary has allowed the author of this article to trace the stages of working on The Red Wheel, and to regard Solzhenitsyn’s ‘creative laboratory’ as a whole. At the same time the diary records broaden the readers’ understanding not only of the ways of creating a historical novel, but of the writer’s biography, of his reading range and literary context, of his predecessors in the genre of historical narrative, of the writer’s techniques and methods. The article turns the spotlight on the fact that Solzhenitsyn does not bestow his biography on characters close to him, he imparts to them the train of his thoughts, the capacity for Tolstoy’s ‘soul dialectics’, making them the author’s self-psychological counterparts. This article is a part of a substantial research of Solzhenitsyn’s system of meta-poetic principles, including the ‘world vision’ on the functions and the responsibility of the artist and the art to the world; on the judgement on the creative work of other authors. The author of the article has an objective to understand the writer’s aesthetics, that was formed under the influence of a vital aspiration to record the history of the Russian revolution, to tell the hidden truth about the history of Russia.

Анотація:

The article discusses the semantic aspects of ekphrasis and meta-ekphrasis in Julian Barnes’s essay “Géricault: Catastrophe into Art” from the cognitive poetics perspective. In his essay, Barnes dwells upon the history and interpretations of Géricault’s masterpiece which represents the survivors of the wreck of a French frigate in 1816. The aim of the study is to reveal the semantic integration of ekphrastic contexts (those parts of the essay which provide description of a painting) and meta-ekphrastic contexts (those parts of the essay which are not descriptions of a painting per se, however they only develop their meaning in connection with ekphrastic contexts). The article suggests using the term meta-ekphrasis to account for the textual contexts which while being semantically related to ekphrasis, do not offer a painting description but a narration about some events related with the painting or ideas inspired by looking at the painting. Used in this meaning, the term meta-ekphrasis is utilised in the paper to reveal the development of Barnes’s original idea about tragedy and art in his essay. The research is grounded in cognitive poetic approach to ekphrasis and employs cognitive poetic instruments of analysis. It presents the results which demonstrate that the main cognitive poetic means that ensure semantic interaction of ekphrastic and meta-ekphrastic contexts in Barnes’s essay are the following: dialogism, hypothetical modality and conceptual metaphors with the source domain of SEA NAVIGATION. It is the semantic integrity of ekphrastic and meta-ekphrastic contexts in Barnes’s essay that allows the writer to present his unconventional treatment of tragedy as being purposeful since it produces art. The article can be of interest to the scholars of sematic interaction between verbal and visual texts as well as cognitive poetic facets of prose texts.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to test the theoretical proposition, put forward by Yukl et al. (2002), that the leadership constructs of transformational and transactional leadership, laissez-faire, consideration, and initiating structure can be arranged into three meta-categories of leadership, namely, relations, task, and change-oriented leadership. Design/methodology/approach After a comprehensive literature search, 1,402 correlations from 286 sources were obtained which referred to the above mentioned leadership constructs and outcome criteria of effective leadership. Findings It was found that three meta-categories of leadership (i.e. relations, task, and change-oriented leadership) were sufficient to explain the leadership constructs of transformational and transactional leadership, laissez-faire, consideration, and initiating structure. Moreover, it was also found that change-oriented leadership was most effective in predicting the job satisfaction of followers. In contrast, relations-oriented leadership accounted for most of the variance in both commitment and job performance. Research limitations/implications In combination, these results allow for a more comprehensive, integrative description of effective leadership behavior. Practical implications The results have implications for leadership assessment and development as well as leader selection and feedback. Originality/value Applying Occam’s razor, and in contrast to the majority of prior leadership studies, the present meta-analytical study provided evidence that three categories of leadership behaviors allow for a precise and comprehensive description of effective leadership behavior.

AbstractTruss-like shapes can occur in topology optimization described by an assembly of finite elements or its boundary represented as a polygon mesh. Such shape description does not cover a common engineering parametrization like the lines of a frame structure and its corresponding cross-section. This article addresses the truss-parametrization of such optimization using curve skeletons and Meta Balls. While the curve skeleton is common in the truss-parametrization, including Meta Balls can lead to an overall implicit and smooth shape description.

In the process of requirements modeling based on ontology, the obtained model description is based on application ontology; which is not easy for designer to understand and cannot be converted into requirements specification documents for design. UML is actual standard for object-oriented modeling. For this issue, this paper creates the UML meta-model, and establishes mapping rules description language for application ontology to UML meta-element, which implements the generation of UML class diagrams based on rule, use case diagrams, state transition diagram models and requirements specification documents based on UML.

Digital information retrieval has been as a problem, and at the same time a research interest for information scientists in recent years. They have planned some solutions to solve problems manifested during the 1990s. Designing meta‐tags and applying them to HTML documents was a remedy in this direction. Meta‐tags can help authors, publishers and indexers of Web pages to analyze intended content more precisely and efficiently. The aim of the present survey is to measure meta‐tags of the Iranian Web sites in accordance with an international criterion. To carry out the research, 346 Iranian Web sites were selected among 3,342, which represented a sample of all Web sites existed in Iranhoo, an Iranian Web directory. The source codes of the sample home pages were reviewed in terms of the presence of keywords and description meta‐tags. The findings of the survey showed that 31.5 percent and 24.6 percent of the Iranian Web sites have keywords and description meta‐tags respectively. The paper concludes that the Iranian Web sites are lower than non‐Iranian Web sites in terms of the use of meta‐tags.

Chinese train control system is abbreviated as CTCS. And there are five levels in CTCS, and CTCS-3 is used for the high speed railway which includes the long rail lines, the different regions, and the rich variety of scenes. It is very important to describe efficiently the relation of the objects for the design and the modeling of the railway visualization. This paper proposes the multi-resolution modeling of CTCS-3 visualization based on meta-model, and introduces the formal description of this meta-model by XML. The formal description examples have certified that this method can provide the enough grammar rules for the reusability of CTCS-3 visualization model.

Summary Objectives: Research and decision support require patient data to be structured. Flexible data representation, to cope with expansion and new recording demands, can be achieved through abstraction of the data model. Such a model, however, does not include explicit information for the support of structured data entry (SDE), i.e. the definition of what is relevant to say in a specific context. The objective of this paper is to provide considerations for an intuitive conceptual representation of such meta-data for domain experts. Methods: The content of meta-data for SDE is compared with that of controlled medical terminologies in the context of its purpose. Results: Upon analysis of medical descriptions, a network and a tree both emerge as an intuitive structure to represent meta-data for the support of SDE. The pros and cons of a tree versus a network are dominated by the challenges of representing multiple contexts for description. Meta-data for SDE only partially overlap with the content of controlled medical terminologies. Conclusions: Integration of meta-data for SDE and controlled terminologies would benefit standardization and retrieval, but the requirements for flexible data entry are at odds with the rigidity and limited granularity of a standard. The preferred strategy seems to be a mapping between the concepts from a terminology standard and meta-data for SDE.

Abstract Meta-learning is becoming more and more important in current and future research concentrated around broadly defined data mining or computational intelligence. It can solve problems that cannot be solved by any single, specialized algorithm. The overall characteristic of each meta-learning algorithm mainly depends on two elements: the learning machine space and the supervisory procedure. The former restricts the space of all possible learning machines to a subspace to be browsed by a meta-learning algorithm. The latter determines the order of selected learning machines with a module responsible for machine complexity evaluation, organizes tests and performs analysis of results. In this article we present a framework for meta-learning search that can be seen as a method of sophisticated description and evaluation of functional search spaces of learning machine configurations used in meta-learning. Machine spaces will be defined by specially defined graphs where vertices are specialized machine configuration generators. By using such graphs the learning machine space may be modeled in a much more flexible way, depending on the characteristics of the problem considered and a priori knowledge. The presented method of search space description is used together with an advanced algorithm which orders test tasks according to their complexities.

Анотація:

This paper presents an approach to GWS (GeospatialWeb Service) discovery through the semantic annotation of WPS (Web Processing Service) service descriptions. The rationale behind this work is that search engines that use appropriate semantic-based similarity measures in the matching process are more accurate in terms of precision and recall than those based on syntactic matching alone. The lack of semantics in the description of services using a standard such as WPS prevents the use of such a matching process and is considered a limitation of GWS discovery. The GWS discovery approach presented is based on the consideration of semantics in the service description method and in the matching process. The description of services is based on a semantic lightweight meta-model instantiated in the WPS 2.0 standard, extending the description of the service through metadata tags. The matching process is performed in three steps (functionality matching step, I/O (Input/Output) matching step and non-functional matching step). Its core is a semantic similarity measure that combines logical and non-logical matching methods. Finally, the paper presents the results of an experiment applying the proposed discovery approach on a GWS corpus, showing promising results and the added value of the three-step matching process.

Анотація:

Informal description of design patterns was adopted to facilitate their understanding by software developers. However, these descriptions lead to ambiguities limiting their successful use in real applications. Recently, several formal methods have been employed to guarantee precise specification of design pattern elements without insisting on their behavior. The main goal of this article is to propose a rewriting logic-based framework for enhancing formal description and reasoning on design patterns composition. The proposed model is integrated and executed under Maude using K-Maude tool. It allows first to associate a meta model notation, according to MDA approach, to all design patterns elements and then, a Maude semantic basis for specifying both their structural and dynamic aspects, is given. In particular, it will be shown how the authors' combined modeling approach is exploited for defining a set of operations on patterns, and how it will be used to formal analyze patterns composition.

Abnormal brain connectivity or network dysfunction has been suggested as a paradigm to understand several psychiatric disorders. We here review the use of novel meta-analytic approaches in neuroscience that go beyond a summary description of existing results by applying network analysis methods to previously published studies and/or publicly accessible databases. We define this strategy of combining connectivity with other brain characteristics as ‘meta-connectomics’. For example, we show how network analysis of task-based neuroimaging studies has been used to infer functional co-activation from primary data on regional activations. This approach has been able to relate cognition to functional network topology, demonstrating that the brain is composed of cognitively specialized functional subnetworks or modules, linked by a rich club of cognitively generalized regions that mediate many inter-modular connections. Another major application of meta-connectomics has been efforts to link meta-analytic maps of disorder-related abnormalities or MRI ‘lesions’ to the complex topology of the normative connectome. This work has highlighted the general importance of network hubs as hotspots for concentration of cortical grey-matter deficits in schizophrenia, Alzheimer's disease and other disorders. Finally, we show how by incorporating cellular and transcriptional data on individual nodes with network models of the connectome, studies have begun to elucidate the microscopic mechanisms underpinning the macroscopic organization of whole-brain networks. We argue that meta-connectomics is an exciting field, providing robust and integrative insights into brain organization that will likely play an important future role in consolidating network models of psychiatric disorders.

Abstract Until this study, Metellina Chamberlin et Ivie, 1941 was unknown in Africa and adjacent islands. A survey of the literature revealed that among nine species of Meta C. L. Koch, 1836 described from the region, two were misplaced in Metainae and actually belong to Tetragnatha Latreille, 1804: T. maculata Blackwall, 1865 (originally placed in the genus Tetragnatha) and Tetragnatha vacillans (Butler, 1876), comb. n. Meta meruensis Tullgren, 1910 misplaced in this genus, most likely belongs to Leucauge White, 1841 or a related genus. Six species are transferred from Meta, and new combinations are established for them: Metellina barreti (Kulczyński, 1899), comb. n., M. gertschi (Lessert, 1938), comb. n., M. longipalpis (Pavesi, 1883), comb. n., M. merianopsis (Tullgren, 1910), comb. n., M. minima (Denis, 1953), comb. n. and M. villiersi (Denis, 1955), comb. n. Metellina haddadi sp. n. is described from the foothills of the Table Mountain near Cape Town. The distribution of all species treated in this paper is mapped.

Meta-ethnography is an interpretive method that provides a way to synthesize the findings of two or more qualitative studies concerning a similar research question or topic. Going beyond the traditional literature review, which looks at individual studies, meta-ethnography facilitates generalizations through extracting concepts, metaphors, and themes. This paper provides a thorough description of the seven steps of meta-ethnography as defined by Noblit and Hare (1988). Implications for this method and the field of Library and Information Science (LIS), especially in the area of theory building, are discussed. Appropriate examples of actual and potential applications within LIS and related disciplines are given to illustrate the potential for the meta-ethnographic method.

Анотація:

Distributed software systems often intertwine the handling of application functionalities with distribution related issues including location transparent access to services, workload allocation among different hosts, adaptation to changing conditions of the network. In the paper, a computational reflection based distributed query model is proposed. The model uses computational reflection to divide the distributed query system into two levels: the meta level and the base level. Meta objects that existed in the meta level are responsible for control and description of the base level, hence the state change of the base level could be captured by the meta level and be controlled according to the meta level’s reaction. The advantages of the model are that adapt different changes such as data resources in the network, network conditions, query plan, and provide the capability of fault tolerance.

The program I will present tries to enrich learning encounters of gifted children with literary texts. These encounters are assumed to combine emotional factors with cognitive ones connected to the production of knowledge and its organization. The proposal emphasizes the interaction between these factors through sharpening children's awareness of their involvement in the reading process. The current research proceeds from a general hypothesis that states that intensive and personalized care is needed in order to promote an appropriate balance of cognitive and affective/emotional traits in the gifted child's personality, and to reduce stress, uneven development, and lack of personal contentment, all of which are problems common to the talented. The approach presents the meeting between reader and text as a personal encounter that allows the young reader to fashion his own instruments of textual analysis, basing himself on affective experience and intellectual abilities related to the production and organization of knowledge. The process of reading itself, aside from adult support and aid, develops the reader's awareness of the motivational, attitudinal, intellectual and other factors involved in skilled reading, permitting him to transform personal and subjective foci of interest into more abstract and defined tools of text-analysis. The approach is organized around three foci, which emphasize different aspects of the text-reader interface: Reading materials are developed through expanding “core ideas” which reflect a personal focus of interest The role of the reader is stressed through the improvement of his awareness to his use of meta-cognition, insight and vital self-instruction. Adult involvement is particularly significant in planning the steps that will permit transforming a casual experience into a personal and meaningful life-experience. The most salient characteristic of this program is its holistic nature, and its commitment to the creative aspects involved in reading. In the long term, in addition to the design of tools for text analysis, the program encourages the development of different kind of awareness: 1) of cognitive styles, that influence learning styles and its results; 2) of the meta-components of thinking, and 3) of “occurrences” and random feelings that give color and nuances to cognitive components and serve as a motivational background when “meeting” the text.

This article investigates the role of meta-design digital tools for the facilitation of distributed systems of creative agents, formally trained and informal amateurs that collaboratively design and produce artefacts. It documents a research study organised for testing a digital meta-design platform with users and the researcher as meta-designer: the results provide insights for improving the platform but also for building a comprehensive research through design framework that connects meta-design research and practice for exploring the role and nature of meta-design and meta-designers in facilitating collaborative design processes starting from their description with digital ontologies.

Summary: This paper presents a meta-analysis of published job analysis interrater reliability data in order to predict the expected levels of interrater reliability within specific combinations of moderators, such as rater source, experience of the rater, and type of job descriptive information. The overall mean interrater reliability of 91 reliability coefficients reported in the literature was .59. The results of experienced professionals (job analysts) showed the highest reliability coefficients (.76). The method of data collection (job contact versus job description) only affected the results of experienced job analysts. For this group higher interrater reliability coefficients were obtained for analyses based on job contact (.87) than for those based on job descriptions (.71). For other rater categories (e.g., students, organization members) neither the method of data collection nor training had a significant effect on the interrater reliability. Analyses based on scales with defined levels resulted in significantly higher interrater reliability coefficients than analyses based on scales with undefined levels. Behavior and job worth dimensions were rated more reliable (.62 and .60, respectively) than attributes and tasks (.49 and .29, respectively). Furthermore, the results indicated that if nonprofessional raters are used (e.g., incumbents or students), at least two to four raters are required to obtain a reliability coefficient of .80. These findings have implications for research and practice.

Decision support system (DSS) aims to provide effective support to solve unstructured, ill-structured or wicked problems as its initial claim in the late 1960s. Great as those technology achievements, "people problems" are key reasons of unimplemented goals of DSS, and sometimes increase uncertainties to decision making process. Meta-synthesis system approach (MSA) is oriented to complexities in those problems. In this paper, we adopt a paradigm of decision making in a DSS context, which emphasizes the synthesis of perspectives towards problems description and analysis, to explain the meta-synthetic support to unstructured problem solving. After very brief introduction of basic ideas of MSA and its testbed, Hall of Workshop on Meta-Synthetic Engineering (HWMSE), which is regarded as a knowledge creating ba, we address computerized supports to expose problem structure by collaborative activities for qualitative meta-synthesis. A practical tool and its visualization of humans' ideas are introduced.

Abstract Theoretical density functional theory (B3LYP/6-31G**) was used to study the intra- and intermolecular interactions of nitrobenzene, aniline, and meta and para nitroaniline in various solvation models. The studied molecules were solvated by one or two water molecules in the presence of continuum solvation (the PCM model) or without it. Finally, the studied molecules were surrounded by a cluster of water molecules. For comparison, calculations were also made for separated molecules. Geometries, energies, hydrogen bonding between solutes and solvent molecules, atomic charges, and aromaticity were examined. The analysis was based on the Atoms in Molecules methodology and the Harmonic Oscillator Model of Aromaticity (HOMA) index. As a result, an extensive description of the solvation of nitro and amino groups and the effect of solvation on mutual interactions between these groups in meta and para nitroanilines is provided. It was found that in general, the PCM description of the hydration effect on the electronic structure of the studied systems (substituents) is consistent with the approach taking into account all individual interactions (cluster model).

Given this increased production and consumption, a need exists to educate both producers and consumers of systematic reviews, with or without meta-analysis, on how to conduct and evaluate high-quality reviews of this nature in nutrition. The purpose of this paper is to try and address this gap. In the present manuscript, the different types of systematic reviews, with or without meta-analyses, are described as well as the description of the major elements, including methodology and interpretation, with a focus on nutrition. It is hoped that this non-technical information will be helpful to producers, reviewers and consumers of systematic reviews, with or without meta-analysis, in the field of nutrition.
