The focus of this research is to create a production schedule that will increase capacity while staying within business constraints of shelf life and warehouse space in a industrial food processing environment. The results support that product wheels maximize process responsiveness by lengthening production runs, and increasing safety stock inventory. In doing so, it maintains acceptable customer service levels and minimizes overtime costs. This study develops a model that simulates the relevant variables impacting the performance of the operation. The results show significant cost reductions are achieved by eliminating changeovers, increasing line capacity, safety stock levels protect against 99% of order variation, and warehouse space is available to house increased cycle stock and safety stock. Given the results on this line, I recommend expanding the model to other food processing locations within the business to further increase capacity and decrease overtime expenses.

The relevant measurement of the reacting loads on the wheels for a vehicle during driving is extremely important for the development and design of new vehicles. The measured reacting loads are used for the basis of dimensioning documentation and for control programs for uniaxial or multi-axial fatigue tests on components, assemblies and complete vehicles. They are also used for input data in numerical simulation for finite element analysis, for multi-body analysis, and for the investigation of the functional capability tests on breaks, gears, and handles . The purpose of this study is to design a wheel-shaped six-component force sensor and relevant data-acquisition as well as calibration components in order to directly measure and register the road loads on the wheel for a vehicle during driving. The dimensions of wheel-shaped force sensor manufactured by Aluminum alloy are determined by finite element analysis, which involving safety factor. Six Wheatstone full bridges with strain gages bonded on the elastic sensor body are employed for the acquisition of the six force and moment components. The wheel-shaped force sensors are then housed between the wheel rim and wheel disk. A slip ring uses to transmit the six signals from force sensor on the rotating wheel to the inside of the vehicle which data acquisition system placed. The six signals registered in the rotating wheel coordinate system can be converted to the vehicle coordinate system (reference coordinate system) by using the angular signal which can be obtained by employing an encoder. Every component force or moment measured from the wheel-shaped six-component force sensor and corresponding angle measured from encoder are input into the LabVIEW data acquisition software with analysis and process to precisely measure the reacting loads on the wheel.
