In recent years, advances in medicine have increased life expectancy and quality of life for people over 55. They feel much younger than their actual age and engage in activities that would have been unimaginable a decade ago. In the case of mature women, interest in fashion has also increased significantly. This study aims at investigating the relationship between women’s cognitive age and their emotional responses towards fashion advertising. A survey with 164 women aged 55 to 70 evidenced that mature women´s self-perception is in accordance with their cognitive age and that they identify themselves mostly with photographic models of their own age. In doing so, their positive attitude towards clothes shown by an advertisement also increases. This knowledge could be used by the marketing sector so as to direct more effective publicity campaigns to the market of mature women.

Повний текст джерелаApis mellifera Linnaeus (1758) order Hymenoptera family Apidae, is a eusocial insect widely known for its role in pollination, a fundamental ecosystem service for plant biodiversity and ultimately for the planet. During flight and foraging activity, the honey bee can collect airborne particulate matter (PM) on their own body, especially on the forewings, and can also contaminate bee products as pollen and honey. Particulate matter can originate from natural or anthropic sources, and is characterised by size (e.g., PM10, PM2.5, PM0.1), chemical composition, and morphology. In this thesis, honey bee, pollen and honey were used as bioindicator of PM – from coarse to ultrafine – in industrial areas of the Po Valley, Italy (Chapter 2 and Chapter 3). The (sub-lethal) effects of Titanium dioxide – a widespread airborne PM1 pollutant – on the honey bee through oral exposure was then investigated (Chapter 4). The technique used to analyse the PM contaminating bees and bee products is the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) coupled with X-ray spectrometer (EDX). EDX spectra allowed us to obtain chemical information from specimens, while backscattered-electron (BSE) imaging and elemental mapping provided both compositional and topographic information of PM.

In today's social environment where age structure, life course structure and marriage culture are gradually changing, the past view of middle-aged women is no longer appropriate. The purpose of this study is to explore the connotation of life experiences of middle-aged women in Taiwan today, and to explore the life course of middle-aged women through interviews, such as: changes in the relationship with others, changes in their own moods. Through words that women talk about their life experience, we hope we can reveal the situatedness of middle-aged women. The phenomenological research method used in this study is the hermeneutical phenomenology analysis developed by Wei-Lun Lee (2004a) on the situatedness of a person. Three middle-aged(age betweem 45 to 60 ) and have kids women that were interviewed for this study. The results showed six discourses that summed from these women’ s descriptions : (1) about "I am no longer what I used to be" premarital life; (2) about " women should played as family caregivers"; (3) about "work life and its extension"; (4) about "the reduce/loose of the burden of caregivers"; (5) about " physical health in middle-age" and (6) about " refreshing mature age ". Under the intertwining of these six discourses, the universal situatedness of Taiwanese middle-aged women can be described as: living in a state of downward care and loosening, looking back at the life as a caregiver, reflecting on the role of the caregiver continuation or not, there is also a future-oriented, refresh life discussion. This study also shows that middle-aged women are in this position, facing the intertwined interactions of the above several discourses, and the contradictions and dilemmas that may be experienced. Through the revealing of this research, the possible space for women to speak and understand their own experiences has been opened, and a new perspective and discussion on the life experience of middle-aged women has been given. In addition, this study takes Taiwanese middle-aged women as an example, revealing the new possibility of aging/mature age, that is, the possibility of refreshing life.

In recent years, Taiwan’s social structure has been changed dramatically due to low birth rate and aging, among which the mature age cause widespread public concern. Mature age refers to the population of 46-65 years old which constitutes one-third of Taiwan''s population, and they have more than fifty-five percent of Taiwan''s wealth. They are retiring and hence pay much attention to the lifestyle and demand of retirement. The purpose of this study is to find out the potential demand of rural living for mature age. The study used mature age living in Taipei and Taichung as the sample for the empirical analysis. In this study, the rural living is divided into four kinds of attributes including morphological aspects, functional aspects, residential aspects, and price aspects. By using choice experiment of conjoint analysis, the study designed four possible rural living styles for mature age to choose from. On the basis of random utility model, multinomial logit model is used to estimate the relative importance of types of the rural living for mature age, and then into measure WTP of the rural living for mature age. The empirical results show that there are more than seventy percent of mature age preferring the rural living, especially consisting of vegetable garden, holiday villas, and centralized residence. The kind of rural living can bring the highest WTP to mature age. But the rural living consisting of animal-raising, runnung a farm, and scattered residence can not attract mature age. It also brings the lowest WTP to mature age. In addition, the samples of mature age are divided by gender, living area, and education. The empirical results show that the groups of mature age prefer vegetable garden and holiday villas, but don’t like runnung a farm and animal-raising.

Many countries are going to enter the aged society, and maturing market become more important. Previous research found that the age appearance and similarity of the model affected the purchase decision of mature females. If we want to understand more about the reasons for the impact, we need to further explore the factors. We designed two age-appearing apparel models (matured and young) to explore the consumer emotion and advertising effectiveness of mature women under the condition of levels of perceived similarity. This study is based on the method of survey, and is aimed at Taiwan mature women who were over 50 years old and focused on fashion information. A total of 185 valid questionnaires were collected. The results show that the comfortable and friendly advertisements for mature apparel gives mature women a good consumer emotion. In addition to the age appearance of the model, style characteristics are also an important factor in the evaluation of consumer purchase decision when mature women purchase buy fashion apparel. It can be seen that if the apparel industry wants to get the support of mature market, when designing mature apparel advertisement, they should adopt models that look similar to mature female consumers and present a relaxed situation in order to attract the attention of mature female consumers, let mature women have positive emotions, and trust the apparel advertisement to make purchasing decisions.

Повний текст джерелаAdult women who return to study after a period of absence have a particular set of problems, some of which present as barriers to the successful achievement of their academic goals. The aim of the present study was to identify the barriers which mature-aged women faced who were enrolled in a course of study at a metropolitan secondary college. The literature on this topic identified some barriers which were supported by the present study, but in addition, several barriers were unique to the situation at The College. Using educational ethnography as a methodology, the researcher used a questionnaire followed by interviews and a focus group discussion to identify the barriers the women were facing. Results indicated that in addition to expected barriers such as conflict between study and family responsibilities, feelings of poor self-worth, a lack of information and social class, women at The College also found that work commitments, time management, different teaching methods used by some teachers, the level of difficulty of some subjects, assessment policies, and younger students in the same class, also presented as barriers to their success. The results of this study provide new information, concerning barriers to further education for the adult female student. These new barriers have implications for further research.

With the rapid development of mobile commerce, the financial transaction mode has been changed, and this makes mobile payment a new trend of payment. Under the trend of no cash, the future action payment marketing focus will be shifted to promote the strongest consumption power in the market. However, the past research on action payment focused on the degree of non-grouping users accepting new technology and exploring perception, usability, perceived ease of use, and usage behavior. Therefore, this study takes Technology Acceptance Model(TAM) model as the theoretical basis and adds the variables of self-ability. The purpose of the study is to explore and verify the cognitive behavior of the mature age group. In this study, a questionnaire survey was conducted. A total of 210 valid questionnaires were collected between the ages of 45 and 64 who had used credit cards and mobile payments in Taiwan. The SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 18.0 statistical software were used for analysis. The empirical results show that self-ability affects the ease of use but does not affect the usefulness of perception. The user's attitude of conversion is affected by perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. The user's attitude of conversion further affects the actual usage behavior. Finally, the paper presents research conclusions and recommendations based on the results of the study. This will be used as reference for action payers and follow-up researchers.

The study aims to find out the current condition and relationship between aging-attitudes and well-being of the teachers in elementary school of Taichung City, compared the diversities of aging-attitudes and well-being from different teachers’ background, and to investigate the predictive power. Practical recommendations are provided according to the results. The objects of this tests were teachers aged 50-64 (including current serving teachers and retired ones) in the academic year 2015-2016. A self-developed “Aging-attitudes and Well-being of the Teachers in the Elementary Schools Questionnaire ” was used to collect the data. 401 valid copies of questionnaires were retrieved from 61 schools and 3 social institutions by convenience sampling. ANOVA, Pearson Product-Moment Correlation and Regression Analysis were used to analyze the data and the results are summarized as follows: 1. Aging-attitudes of mature-age-population teachers response positively, and “aging cognition” was ranked as the highest. 2. The feelings for well-being of mature-age-population teachers is great, and “ relationships” was ranked as the highest. 3. About aging-attitudes: it showed significant difference of teachers from various teacher backgrounds in the following aspects: gender, age, education, serving years, serving position, retired years, self-awareness of health situation and aging related curriculum participating. 4. About well-being: it showed significant difference of teachers from various teacher backgrounds in the following aspects: gender, age, education, serving years, serving position, retired years, self-awareness of health situation and aging related curriculum participating. 5. Aging-attitudes and well-being of retired mature-age-population teachers scored higher than current serving ones. 6. Aging-attitudes were positively related to well-being among mature-age-population teachers. 7. Aging-attitudes of mature-age-population teachers is able to predict well-being significantly.According to the research findings, recommendations are suggested as follows: 1. Mature-age-population teachers should develop positive attitude toward aging, participate aging related curriculum actively, and contact with retired teachers more often in order to raise the feelings of well-being. 2. Education department should strengthen executing elderly-respecting-ethic curriculums and aging-experience activities. 3. Government related departments should develop “center of art-heritage ” to activate talent intelligence to pass down the experience.

With the growth on people's average lives, the potential business opportunities lying in the senior citizens have become important ever. In fact, this generation of “mature age”, referring to those who are now in their fifties to mid sixties and who were born after World War II, has gone thru the various phases of mass society changes including at war, implementation of martial law, economy growth, and removal of martial law. It is a generation consisting of multiple characteristics such as success, confidence, wealth, dedication, but also tradition. It is a generation that is healthy, vital, rich, and free to experience life. It is astonishing, according to the recent studies, that this generation represents the important consumers of luxuries. For, in the past, marketing strategies and approaches were often focused on the youth, substantial market hidden in the generation of “mature age” was over-sighted. This study, therefore, concentrates on the media use and consumer behavior of the “mature age”. The “preference matrix” method was deployed to analyze the differences between the “mature age” and the other generations, in terms of the media use and consumer behavior. The study intends to profile the “mature age” by ways of the consumer psychology and life styles. The author hopes that new perspectives can be provided to the industries who are marketing in this generation in order to help setting up effective marketing strategies. It is also hoped that the studies on the “mature age” can be further developed in due course. The study was based upon the raw data of 2004 Shih Hsin Communication Database. Factor analysis and cluster analysis were adopted to develop the characteristics of the “mature age”. The “preference matrix” between the “mature age” and the other generations was compared in order to discover the trends and changes of consumer markets among various groups. Results of this study could be valid to the professionals involving marketing strategies, media planning, and product development. Besides, this study might be helpful to generate more marketing creativities and so do the business opportunities.
Wan, Ahmadul Badwi Syarifah Azizah. "A cross sectional study on the relationship between age, white matter lesion, brain atrophy and cognitive function." Thesis, 2014. http://hdl.handle.net/1959.13/1051206.
Повний текст джерелаScope: the present study was designed to examine the relationship between structural brain changes, involving macrostructural and microstructural white matter changes, brain atrophy and cognitive function. Purpose: Cognitive deterioration is generally thought to be due to structural brain changes as part of the aging process. The present study sought to determine how age- related structural brain changes at the macrostructural and microstructural levels correlate with cognitive function among a cohort of reasonably healthy elderly. The study also explored the possible link between white matter damage and cognitive dysfunction, and examined whether this relationship was also influenced by age- associated loss of brain volume i.e. brain atrophy. Last but not least, the study examined the level of the usefulness of a global cognitive measure in comparison to specific neuropsychological subtests assessing executive function, working memory and episodic memory domains. Methodology: the volumetric measures were utilised to account for brain macrostructural changes, while the Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI)- based measures were used to examine microstructural properties of white matter disruptions among seventy reasonably healthy elderly recruited from Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) Volunteer Register and specialised neurovascular clinic. The Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) was used to assess global cognition and twelve neuropsychological subtests were administered to measure specific deficit associated with subtle cognitive dysfunction in white matter pathology. The Pearson correlation coefficient and hierarchical multiple regression were utilised for data analyses. Results: the MoCA has captured variation associated with brain volumes and DTI- based changes, not fully accounted by specific cognitive tests administered in this study. Even after adjusting for age, FSIQ, and brain atrophy separately, the independent association between the MoCA and radial diffusivity remained stable. Interestingly, the MoCA is a brief, yet powerful tool that even accounts for global cognitive deficit for which white matter pathology and brain atrophy are not sensitive markers. White matter macrostructural and microstructural changes are associated with age- related cognitive dysfunction, characterised as subtle, varied and diffuse in nature. Brain atrophy not only linked to age, but also influenced the association between global cognition and white matter pathology on the volumetric measure; and partially explained the relationship between white matter microstructural disruption and specific deficit in visual working memory and visual episodic memory. In addition, the hierarchical regression analysis revealed that the MoCA was the strongest predictor of radial diffusivity (ℛ² = .476, 𝜌<.01) even after controlling for age (ℛ² = .392, 𝜌<.01), and cerebral atrophy was not a significant predictor of radial diffusivity. Conclusions and Implications: age- related white matter macrostructural and microstructural changes are not benign, even among reasonably healthy elderly by which their future functioning may be compromised. The so-called ‘healthy’ elderly appear to be a more vulnerable population, as the nature of the dysfunction can be very subtle and diffuse. Early detection thus, serves as a main preventative measure for this population. Since our findings strongly point to the MoCA as a beneficial screening tool for cognitive dysfunction at the early stage of white matter disease, we therefore recommend this brief, easily accessible tool for frontline clinicians to incorporate into their investigation protocol.
