Анотація:
A generalized algorithm for the verification of functional models and the rules for the verification of diagrams related by levels of detail were developed in this paper. The algorithm is based on the analysis of a tree which describes the decompose relations in functional diagrams. At each step of the algorithm, a pair consisting of a parent diagram and a functional diagram is selected, and the correlation of the arrows and their roles is checked for both. The formalization of the verification rules was based on the set-theoretic representation of functional diagrams in the form of labeled oriented graphs. The rules make it possible to map the position and roles of the arrows associated with the detailed function block of the parent diagram to the arrows of the child diagram. The following rules for each of the possible arrow roles were established: “input”, “output”, “control”, “mechanism”. The use of the logic programming language PROLOG was proposed for the implementation of the algorithm. A knowledge base structure comprised of 3 interrelated predicates to describe the tree of diagrams, nodes and edges of the graphs was suggested. A query to check the verification rules was formed, and methods of binding variables and fixing roles were considered. The analysis and verification of a fragment of a functional model for the production of vinyl acetate from ethylene was conducted as an example. The functional diagrams for the processes “Condensate separation” and “Vinyl acetate isolation” connected by a decompose relation were developed, their set-theoretic models were constructed, and the use of rules for the verification of each type of arrow were considered.

Анотація:
In this paper, we propose an autonomous material and logistics optimization system model for JIT flexible jobshop. The proposed system consists of a Material Planning subsystem (MPs), a Distribution Planning subsystem (DPs) and a Logistics Control subsystem (LCs). In the proposed system, all subsystems repeat their own optimal decision making as well as exchange production data with others. This mechanism made the whole system a closed-loop information and control system for material and logistics optimization. The unified model constructed up a framework for integrating of the production management, optimal and control in JIT flexible jobshop, through feedback of static materials management information and dynamic logistics information. Unified modeling language (UML) was used as the modeling tool, and several diagrams, including a use cases diagram, a interaction diagram and a sequence diagram, were presented to illustrate the details of the proposed model.

Анотація:
The technique for the formalized description of functional models of chemical manufacturing is developed. The technique is based on graph theory. The model is described as a set of oriented labeled graphs that are hierarchically organized by the decompose relationship. First we describe the conversion of a single diagram to a labeled graph, including adding new nodes and edges. The nodes of the graph correspond to boxes, borders and branching points of the arrows at the diagram. The edges of the graph correspond to the arrows at the diagram. The graph descriptions of the model of base functional relationships such as output-input, output-control, output-mechanism are represented. We develop procedures to convert the border arrows and branch arrows. Conversion of branch arrows is performed depending on changes of the labels of branches. Branching of each arrow corresponds to a subgraph including several edges and perhaps additional nodes. Oriented labeled graphs are described by set-theoretic notation that contains the labels of the edges and the roles of nodes. The hierarchy of diagrams is specified by a decompose relationship, which includes the parent chart, the child chart and the decomposed box. As an example, we present the set-theoretic description of the functional model of vinyl acetate manufacturing. The application of mathematical apparatus built within the framework of graph theory for verification and analysis of functional diagrams based on the proposed formal description is an area for further research.

We study the Hausdorff Voronoi diagram of a set S of polygonal objects in the plane, a generalization of Voronoi diagrams based on the maximum distance of a point from a polygon, and show that it is equivalent to the Voronoi diagram of S under the Hausdorff distance function. We investigate the structural and combinatorial properties of the Hausdorff Voronoi diagram and give a divide and conquer algorithm for the construction of this diagram that improves upon previous results. As a byproduct we introduce the Hausdorff hull, a structure that relates to the Hausdorff Voronoi diagram in the same way as a convex hull relates to the ordinary Voronoi diagram. The Hausdorff Voronoi diagram finds direct application in the problem of computing the critical area of a VLSI Layout, a measure reflecting the sensitivity of a VLSI design to random manufacturing defects, described in a companion paper.13

Continuous cooling transformation (CCT) diagrams are widely used when heat treating steels and represent which type of phase will occur in a material as it is cooled at different cooling rates. CCT diagrams are constructed on the basis of dilatometry measurements on relatively small testing samples (cylindrical shape with diameter of 4mm and length of 11 mm in this study). The main aim of this work was to demonstrate the possibility of evaluating the tensile test properties using mini-tensile tests from miniature volumes (1.4 × 10−7 m3 for one sample) subsequent to determination of the CCT diagram and to extend a standard CCT diagram with information about strength, ductility and the estimated value of the work-hardening coefficient. Mini-tensile tests (MTT) were recently developed due to the low availability of experimental material and have already been successfully used for local mechanical property characterization of metals. CCT diagrams were constructed for 42CrMo4 steel prepared by the laser-directed energy deposition (L-DED) process, for commercially available 42CrMo4 steel conventionally manufactured (for comparison of traditional processing and AM preparation) and for H13 tool steel deposited by the selective laser melting (SLM) process.

Abstract This paper presents the developed software for processing parameter simulation and optimization of powder bed additive manufacturing by concentrated energy beams. The simulations are realized by implementation of a normalized processing diagram and analytical model simulating heating of powder layers by a moving linear heat source. Their implementation is demonstrated for electron beam or laser additive manufacturing of industrial alloys. The developed software and the processing diagram provide a useful reference and methodology to support the selection of appropriate processing parameters during the early development stages of concrete powder bed additive manufacturing technology, building production digital twins or development of integrated process management system.

The thesis proposes a method for introducing lean manufacturing using string diagram in an operating CNG high pressure storage tank manufacturing job shop at Jayfe Cylinder Ltd. Haryana. By applying lean manufacturing using process layout diagram to produce part families with similar manufacturing processes and stable demand, plants expect to reduce costs and lead-times and improve quality and delivery performance. The thesis outlines a method for assessing, designing, and implementing lean manufacturing using process layout diagram, and illustrates this process with an example. A manufacturing cell that produces high pressure steel tank container for commercial & automobile customers is implemented at cylinder tank Machining Centers. The conclusion of the thesis highlights the key lessons learned from this process.

PurposeDisclosure research has argued that visuals are increasingly used in annual reports as a way to increase readability of the annual report, but comparatively little is known about of diagrams compared to graphs and photographs. The purpose of this paper is to provide a historical account of visuals use in corporate disclosure, with an emphasis on diagrams, to show changes from the 1940s until present-day reporting.Design/methodology/approachVisual research methods were applied to analyze how diagrams, photographs and graphs were used in 69 annual reports of the Swedish telecom company Ericsson.FindingsPhotographs have been used with increasing frequency since the 1950s. Graph and diagram use has increased significantly since the 1990s while photograph use remained stable, suggesting that graphs and diagrams increasingly complement photographs for visually representing the organization in corporate disclosure. Factors explaining the case company’s development include both internal (performance, individual preferences, shifting from a manufacturing-based strategy to a service-based strategy) and external (legislation, transformation of the telecom industry).Originality/valueVisual elements in annual reports are increasingly oriented toward immaterial representations of the organization’s standings and identity and diagrams are increasingly used and contribute to this. This finding motivates further research about diagram use in corporate communication, such as how different diagram types convey accounting messages, and whether diagrams serve as impression management devices. For regulators, it will be important to follow the emerging trend of diagram use, since it is becoming part of reporting practice.

Experimental and computational approaches were used to study the microstructure of IN718 produced via powder bed fusion additive manufacturing (PBF-AM). The presence, chemical composition, and distribution of stable and metastable phases (γ′′, δ, MC, and Laves) were also analyzed. The information obtained from the microstructural study was used to construct a tailored time–temperature transformation (TTT) diagram customized for additive manufacturing of IN718. Experimental techniques, including differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD), were employed to establish the morphological, chemical, and structural characteristics of the microstructure. The Thermo-Calc software and a Scheil–Gulliver model were used to analyze the presence and behavior of phase transformations during heating and cooling processes under non-thermodynamic equilibrium conditions, typical of AM processes. Unlike conventional TTT diagrams of this alloy, the diagram presented here reveals that the precipitation of γ′′ and δ phases occurs at lower temperatures and shorter times in AM-manufactured parts. Significantly, the superposition of γ′′ and δ phase curves in the proposed diagram underscores the interdependence between these phases. This TTT diagram is a valuable insight that can help in the development of heat treatment processes and quality control for IN718 produced via PBF-AM.

As an important data source of complex product design and manufacturing, 3D assembly model has accumulated a large number of 3D assembly models in various manufacturing industries under the background of widely used digital design technology. In order to make better use of reusable common structure information about 3D assembly model, reduce repetitive labor, and shorten product development cycles, a common structure mining method of 3D assembly models was proposed. Firstly, based on the attribute neighbourhood diagram of individual parts of the 3D assembly model, the information of the assembly feature attributes is maintained and the nonassembly feature attributes are simplified to form an attributed assembly feature neighbourhood diagram; then, based on the assembly relationship between the parts of the 3D assembly model, the attributed assembly feature neighbourhood diagrams of the parts are combined to form a 3D assembly model attribute neighbourhood diagram. Secondly, the common structure of the 3D assembly model is extracted by the frequent subgraph mining algorithm. Finally, a set of fixture models is used to verify the results, which show that this 3D assembly model common structure mining method can accurately and effectively explore the common structure information of the product and has good results.

Abstract The consistency in logic between a stationary, process-oriented description of the system and its state-oriented counterpart is an important requirement imposed by automated manufacturing systems. In the late 1980s, computer-aided software engineering tools were developed to work with complex software systems. With these, the focus was on immaterial flows such as data and information. In searching for a method that could graphically describe complex systems, we developed our new methodology, Process- Oriented Analysis (POA). We have enriched the basic static diagram types of Structured Analysis with value and resource flows, and introduce consistent rules for the handling of resources, costs and data. The dynamic diagram types serve to describe the behaviour of the system, and lead to the programming of simulations and machine controls. The static diagram types reveal the structure of the system as flows and processes. The diagrams are hierarchically structured on several levels of detail, allowing an in-depth analysis of complex systems with numerous sub-systems. A system optimisation is possible based on costs or on energy. The dynamic diagrams support plant simulation, real-time monitoring and control systems, and sustainability models. The dynamic diagrams are consistent with the static diagrams, and simplify program design and coding.

This article describes the use of statistical methods of quality control and management in the manufacturing metal bridge structures, such as: – cause and effect diagram (Ishikawa diagram). Causal factors affecting the quality of welded joints were established; – checklist. The form of the control sheet for registration of types of surface defects of butt welded joints were developed; – pareto Chart. The most common types of surface defects of butt welded joints were identified; the types of surface defects of butt welded joints, leading to the greatest losses were determined. ABC method – analysis of Pareto diagram of internal defects of welded joints. General conclusions on the results of their application were made.

Digital manufacturing is widely used in the production of automobiles and aircrafts, and plays a profound role in the whole supply chain. Due to the long memory property of demand, production, and stocks, a fractional-order digital manufacturing supply chain system can describe their dynamics more precisely. In addition, their control and synchronization may have potential applications in the management of real-word supply chain systems to control uncertainties that occur within it. In this paper, a fractional-order digital manufacturing supply chain system is proposed and solved by the Adomian decomposition method (ADM). Dynamical characteristics of this system are studied by using a phase portrait, bifurcation diagram, and a maximum Lyapunov exponent diagram. The complexity of the system is also investigated by means of SE complexity and C0 complexity. It is shown that the complexity results are consistent with the bifurcation diagrams, indicating that the complexity can reflect the dynamical properties of the system. Meanwhile, the importance of the fractional-order derivative in the modeling of the system is shown. Moreover, to further investigate the dynamics of the fractional-order supply chain system, we design the feedback controllers to control the chaotic supply chain system and synchronize two supply chain systems, respectively. Numerical simulations illustrate the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed methods.

The paper presents the analysis of the steps and stages of designing process equipment for traditional manufacturing. The features of building process equipment using energy flows and consumables are studied. Structural synthesis of mechatronic systems in digitalized manufacturing make it possible to add new stages to the process of creating process equipment for both traditional automated subtractive and new additive manufacturing. The processes of manufacturing parts without forming equipment described by the algorithms according to the proposed structural diagram of connections provide an opportunity to analyze the existing equipment and develop new equipment for laminate synthesis of products. The paper illustrates the use of methods and procedures for laminate synthesis and fabrication of parts from composite materials using process equipment based on the application of energy flows and material components for new additive and traditional subtractive manufacturing. Also, methods and diagrams for automation and computer-aided process control over product manufacturing are shown.

Abstract In addressing the phenomenon of chatter during the machining of thin-walled components, a machining strategy involving the implementation of a continuous non-uniform toolpath has been proposed as a remedy for chatter suppression. The methodology commences with a meticulous determination of machining allowances, accomplished by utilizing fitting functions. Subsequently, the stiffness coefficients and natural frequencies inherent to the workpiece-tool system are extracted through modal analysis. A stability lobes diagram is formulated, employing the principles of regenerative chatter analysis. This diagram encompasses both uniform toolpath scenarios and non-uniform continuous toolpath scenarios, with the latter established via the least squares method. The resultant stability lobes diagram effectively delineates the boundaries within which chatter remains stable, under varying depths of cut. The stability lobes diagrams substantiate the effectiveness of the non-uniform continuous toolpath constructed via the least squares method in significantly augmenting the inherent stiffness coefficient of the workpiece-tool system, thereby mitigating chatter. This approach serves as a valuable guide for the manufacturing of intricate curved thin-walled components.

Continuous improvement is the prime requirement for all industries to sustain and grow in the competitive global market. This paper is a case study of a manufacturing industry in Taiwan, facing the problem of rejection in the brushless motor product. The DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) cycle was used to improve processes to reduce the rejection rate. In the Define phase, anything related to processes, products, suppliers, customers, and customer needs related to good quality products were determined. SIPOC diagrams (Supplier, Input, Process, Output, and Customer) and Critical to Quality (CTQ) were identified. The Measure phase focused on data collection by determining the baseline of the process and determining the root causes of the process. DPMO and the Control Chart were applied in this phase. In the Analyze phase, the causes of production process failures that result in defective products were identified. Tools like Pareto Diagram, Fishbone Diagram, and FMEA were used in this phase. In the Improve phase, the improvement solutions in overcoming priority problems were determined by using the 5W + 1H tool. Several improvement solutions were implemented, such as improvement in inspection methods, re-selection for the supplier, increasing the number of workers, providing training to workers, and others. In the control phase, the Six Sigma values were improved. In January–May 2022, the Six Sigma level increased from 5.11 to 5.44.

Probabilistic influence diagrams are a useful stochastic modeling tool. To calculate probabilities of interest relative to a probabilistic influence diagram efficiently, it will be helpful for us to use an associated decomposable-directed graph. We first explore and discuss some graph-theoretic and conditional independence properties of decomposable probabilistic influence diagrams. These properties are helpful in providing an efficient algorithm for obtaining a posterior decomposable probabilistic influence diagram given the state of one or more observed nodes. The connection between Shachter's “sequential creation of conditionally barren nodes” concept and Lauritzen and Spiegeihalter's “moralization and triangulation” algorithm for calculating probabilities relative to a probabilistic influence diagram is made explicit. We also discuss how to use wisely the concepts of “sequential creation of conditionally barren nodes” and “merging nodes” together with the graph-theoretic properties of decomposable directed graphs to compute probabilities relative to probabilistic influence diagrams.

Continuous cooling transformation (CCT) diagrams of base metals are common in welding. They can be built using physical or numerical simulations, each with advantages and limitations. However, those are not usual for weld metal, considering its variable composition due to the dilution of the weld into the base metal. Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) is a distinctive case in which the interest in materials comparable with weld composition raises attention to estimating their mechanical properties. Notwithstanding, this concept is still not used in WAAM. Therefore, the aim of this work was to address a methodology to raise MC-CCT (Multiple Cycle Continuous Cooling Transformation) diagrams for WAAM by combining physical and numerical simulations. A high-strength low-alloy steel (HSLA) feedstock (a combination of a wire and a shielding gas) was used as a case study. To keep CCT as representative as possible, the typical multiple thermal cycles for additive manufacturing thin walls were determined and replicated in physical simulations (Gleeble dilatometry). The start and end transformations were determined by the differential linear variation approach for each thermal cycle. Microstructure analyses and hardness were used to characterise the product after the multiple cycles. The same CCT diagram was raised by a commercial numerical simulation package to determine the shape of the transformation curves. A range of austenitic grain sizes was scanned for the curve position matching the experimental results. Combining the experimental data and numerically simulated curves made estimating the final CCT diagram possible.

Abstract. In statistics, one of the tools that can be used in process control is the control diagram. A control diagram is a graph that gives an idea of the behavior of a process. On the control diagram can detect any changes in the process that may affect the quality of the product. Product quality characteristics measured numerically or numerically are called variables. If there are more than two quality characteristics, simultaneous control of the related variables is required using a multivariate control diagram. The multivariate Shewhart control diagram (T2-Hotelling) is a frequently used multivariate control diagram. This control diagram will quickly detect if there is a large shift from the average vector of the process. Multivariate control diagrams that can quickly detect small average vector shifts include the multivariate cumulative sum control diagram (MCUSUM). There are some MCUSUM statistics. In this thesis, we will discuss MCUSUM statistics made by Healy and Crosiers, namely SH and SC. Application to control the aluminum turning pin manufacturing process with five quality characteristics shows an uncontrolled process with an out of control signal given in the 4th period by the MCUSUM SH control diagram, while according to MCUSUM SC it was detected in the 5th period, and for the application of the control graph T2 Hotteling was detected in the observation period 6. Abstrak. Dalam statistika, salah satu alat yang dapat digunakan dalam pengendalian proses adalah diagram kontrol. Diagram kontrol adalah sebuah grafik yang memberi gambaran tentang perilaku sebuah proses. Pada diagram kontrol dapat mendeteksi setiap perubahan dalam proses yang dapat mempengaruhi kualitas produk. Karakteristik kualitas produk yang diukur secara numerik atau angka disebut variabel. Jika terdapat lebih dari dua buah karakteristik mutu, pengendalian secara simultan terhadap variabel-variabel terkait tersebut diperlukan dengan menggunakan diagram kontrol multivariat. Diagram kontrol Shewhart multivariat (T2-Hotelling) adalah diagram kontrol multivariat yang sering digunakan. Diagram kontrol ini akan cepat mendeteksi jika terjadi pergeseran besar dari vektor rata-rata proses. Diagram kontrol multivariat yang dapat dengan cepat mendeteksi pergeseran vektor rata-rata yang kecil salah satunya adalah diagram kontrol multivariate cumulative sum (MCUSUM). Terdapat beberapa statistik MCUSUM. Dalam skripsi ini akan dibahas statistik MCUSUM yang dibuat oleh Healy dan Crosier yaitu SH dan SC. Aplikasi pada pengontrolan proses pembuatan turning pin aluminium dengan lima karakteristik mutu menununjukkan proses tidak terkendali dengan sinyal out of kontrol diberikan pada periode ke-4 oleh diagram kontrol MCUSUM SH, sedangkan menurut MCUSUM SC terdeteksi pada periode ke-5, dan untuk penerapan grafik pengendali T2 Hotteling terdeteksi pada pengamatan periode 6.

The research was to find the simple effect of a graphic organizer which is one of the cooperative learning strategies by using Venn diagrams to improve reading comprehension of descriptive texts in English class for Law IAIN Bengkulu. The Venn Diagram has a positive effect on students. The research is Quays experimental with a non-equivalent control group design in English Specific Purpose for Law. The populations were second-semester students of the Faculty of Law. They are class A consisting of 16 students as an experimental class (international class) and class B consisting of 16 students (international class) as a control class. The totality sample is used, the researcher took the sixth step, namely; first, students were given Pre-Test for both classes to determine the experimental and the control class. Second, giving treatment for three meetings in the experimental and control classes. Third, the researcher conducted a Post-Test, in the experimental and control classes to determine the effect of the Venn Diagram. Fourth, the researcher analyzed the test using the assessment criteria. Fifth, the researcher used the t-test formula to determine the significance of the use of it from the experimental class. Sixth discusses conclusions based on the data. The results indicate that Venn Diagrams can improve students' understanding of reading descriptive texts. It can be seen after being calculated by the T-test formula that the T-Count is higher than the T-table (2.25 > 2.0423) and the average value of the two classes increased by about 9.68 points for the experimental class and 2.19 points for the control class that it has a positive effect on students' law. Furthermore, suggested that the Venn diagram is applied by students for reading comprehension.

SP Aluminum is engaged in the manufacturing industry by producing cooking utensils. In its application, SP Aluminum has tried to produce quality products to satisfy consumers. However, there are still defects that appear in its products. Another problem is the product defects have not been handled seriously by the company. Based on these problems, this study utilizes 5 quality control methods from seven tools: flowchart, check sheets, p-chart, Pareto diagram, and fishbone diagrams. This research is a quantitative qualitative with direct data collection through observation and interviews. The data taken is the product defect in Super Wok Number 12. There are 49 defects data that have been processed. From the results of the check sheet analysis, it was found that the intensity category of the product defects occurrence was obtained. Furthermore, control chart analysis show that there are some data that are out of control. Then, Pareto diagram analysis show the most dominant types of defects are holes, dregs, and pores. Finally, the factors of the absence of written SOPs, less thorough and less competent employees, poor working environment, lack of machine maintenance, poor handling of raw materials and inappropriate material handling processes were common causes of product defects.

The paper provides examples of negative changes of mechanical properties of metals, including 20L cast steel, that are used in manufacturing of bearing elements of bogies for freight cars, which are manifested with growth of cyclic operating time. In order to study relationship of mechanical properties the authors have carried out a mathematical description of processes occurring at uniaxial quasi-static stretching in representative volume of fragile and viscous steel for car manufacturing with various cyclic operating time. Well known models of structural steel are supplemented by the Mironov - Yakushev model that considers a softening stage in separate microstructural seeds and that is useful for studying fragile and viscous steel. The authors have studied damage of steel by a method of preventive unloading on a stage of poet-failure deformation with a construction of full tensile stress-strain diagrams at stretching of studied volume of metal and have compared with results of tests of full-scale samples. Results of modeling show a decrease of all mechanical properties of metals after operating time and an interaction with the tensile stress-strain diagram.

Electronic cams are used for different manufacturing systems, but in terms of displacement diagrams, they have common characteristics. The emphasis is usually placed on maximum accuracy, minimum machine cycle time and the displacement diagram has a simple shape. This paper addresses a completely different case, which shows that the use of electronic cams is very diverse. An Omron’s electronic cam was used to control kinetic art sculptures. It was necessary to develop an implementation that would be able to accommodate a large number of very long and complex displacement diagrams. Some sculptures contained up to 147 interpolating axes and their programs took up to an hour. The proposal builds on the basic animation and designer’s demands, but it must comply with all the limits of the mechanism (maximum speed, torque, etc.). For this purpose, an independent software tool was developed. The final displacement diagram is composed from polynomial of the 5th order by defining the 0th, 1st, and 2nd derivatives at the key points. This method of design has proved to be very effective, and in addition, this implementation brought a significant saving of memory and reduction of computational complexity.

The conceptions and characteristics of structural formula, structural net and speed diagram were discussed. The expected targets of the automatic generation technology were put forward. The technical principles of automatically generating structural net and speed diagram were respectively analyzed. Based on these, the automatic generation software of structural net and speed diagram was designed and developed. The development environment and implementation methods of the software were proposed. It is proved that the software can play an important role in improving the teaching effect and quality.

The article uses the unified UML modeling language to visualize production elements. To show some of the advantages of the proposed approach, the main components of the production system are defined: technological machines, operators, materials, products and the production process. A class diagram is used to represent the components. Defined attributes and methods of each class: attributes and methods to each class that define its properties and behavior. The Machine class can have attributes such as machine ID and Destination, and methods such as start() and stop(). Relationships between classes are established: association, aggregation, and composition to represent relationships between classes. The Production Process class can have an aggregation relationship with the Machine class, indicating that the production process consists of multiple machines. This work contains UML diagrams and description tables that make it possible to structure the activity of the technological process in production. The technological process of manufacturing products is shown, which is presented in detail on the state diagram.

Abstract A titanium composite alloy (Ti –Al –Si – Zr) manufacturing process using eutectic solidification was studied by simultaneous thermal analysis up to 1480 °C. Phase transformations predicted by sections of the phase stability diagram (ThermoCalc optimisation) have been observed. The structure of the alloy was also studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), light optical microscopy (LOM) and X-ray microanalysis. Several patterns, unexplained on the basis of the stable phase diagrams of the system, are revealed to be associated with metastable phase transformations. The results can be used for a determination of composite applications and the optimisation of its casting technology.

Lately, this competitive advantage is facing significant challenges from globalization reversal, trade wars, and the technological revolution. Relative to anti-globalization and trade wars, however, the most profound challenge facing China's manufacturing industry is the rise of the Industrial Internet of Things and smart manufacturing. In this paper we address the L∞ Voronoi diagram of polygonal objects and present application in VLSI layout and manufacturing. We show that L∞ Voronoi diagram of polygonal objects consists of straight line segments and thus it is much simpler to compute than its Euclidean counterpart; the degree of the computation is significantly lower. Moreover, it has a natural interpretation. In applications where Euclidean precision is not essential the L∞ Voronoi diagram can provide a better alternative. Using the L∞ Voronoi diagram of polygons we address the problem of calculating the critical area for shorts in a VLSI layout. The critical area computation is the main computational bottleneck in VLSI yield prediction.

The manufacturing of expanded polystyrene is a multi-stage process. In each stage the number of technologic parameters is very high, they are intercorrelated and influence the quality of the end product. The improper combination of parameter quantitative values causes defects – deterioration of mechanical and heat insulation properties, product deformation and cracking. The planning of experiments for parameter discrimination and afterwards optimization is not practicable due to the high number of variables. That is why we used the cause and effect diagrams for the identification of the most essential parameters. After analyzing the regulation of the technological process a cause and effect diagram (the so-called”fish-bone”) was created for each stage. Further on, after having analyzed the literature data and using the experience gained in the real manufacturing process, the set of eventually most essential parameters was defined. Also the number of these parameters is quite high, however it already gives a possibility to perform purposeful experiments and make an analysis of the experimental results.

Delay delivery on Fadhila Aqiqah distribution process occurred frequently. The problem was there’re waste in their production process. In islam, it called tabdzir. Tabdzir can minimized so the production process being more efficient. The purpose of this research is to find out how to minimize waste by analyzing the lean manufacturing approach. The research method used is a qualitative approach, namely lean manufacturing with tools in the form of value stream mapping and fishbone diagrams. Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to describe the flow of the production process from raw materials to finished products. VSM is depicted with symbols representing activities, then grouped into value added and non value added. Tabdzir or waste is identified by finding the root of the problem through a fishbone diagram. The implication of this research is that the company is able to know how to minimize the occurrence of waste in the production process.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat sistem informasi koperasi pada KSP. BAKTI HURIA. Penelitian ini bersifat analisis deskriptif kualitatif yaitu penelitian yang meliputi analisis sistem dan dilanjutkan dengan perancangan sistem informasi. Perancangan sistem informasi dibuat dengan menggunakan UML yang meliputi Use Case Diagram, Activity Diagram, Class Diagram dan Sequence Diagram. Prosedur simpan pinjam pada koperasi KSP. BAKTI HURIA ditemukan beberapa kelemahan diantaranya adalah dokumen pencatatan transaksi simpanan maupun pinjaman, serta laporan yang dihasilkan. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk membuat perancangan sistem informasi koperasi, dengan tujuan untuk memperbaiki sistem informasi koperasi

With the increasing era of globalization today, competition in the industrial sector is becoming increasingly fierce and competitive. With the development of modern technology for the better but on the other hand raises problems for the environment. Every business actor who wants to win the competition must pay full attention to the quality of the products or services produced, at a low cost, the right time and quantity, and safe conditions. This study aims to analyze and reduce waste of packaging waste at PT XYZ, a manufacturing company engaged in the manufacture of medicines and vaccines. In the last 7 months, there were 1,906 pcs of defective packaging out of a total of 204,940 pcs used. The defects were caused by mold, misprinted information, faded colors, and lack of glue on the packaging. The methods used in this research are Pareto diagram and fishbone diagram. Pareto diagrams are used to identify dominant product defects, while fishbone diagrams are used to identify the causes of defects. It is expected that the results of this research can help PT XYZ reduce packaging waste and improve the quality of their products. By reducing packaging waste, PT XYZ can also contribute to reducing negative impacts on the environment.

A system dynamics model was developed with the primary purpose of visualizing the behavior of a supply chain (SC) when it adopts a disruptive technology such as additive manufacturing (AM). The model proposed a dynamic hypothesis that defines the following issue: what is the impact of the AM characteristics and processes in the SC? The model was represented through a causal diagram in thirteen variables related to the SC, organized in two feedback cycles and a data flow diagram, based mainly on the three-essential links of the SC and the order display traceability: supplier–focal manufacturer–distribution Network. Once proposed, the model was validated through the evaluation of extreme conditions and sensitivity analysis. As a result, the dynamic behavior of the variables that condition the chain management was analyzed, evidencing reduction times in production, especially in products that require greater complexity and detail, as well as reductions in inventories and the amount of raw material due to production and storing practices from AM. This model is the starting point for alternative supply chain scenarios through structural operating policies and operating policies in terms of process management.

"Understanding" requires elucidation of facts and corroborating theories that can explain those facts in a coherent manner. "Overcoming" requires self-development to suit the environment. In this paper, a case study about how a manufacturing process is improved in terms of productivity and quality using evolutionary improvements is explained. Here "Understanding" is achieved through use of Shainin Technique, PM analysis, Affinity Diagram, and the engineer's ingenuity, along with Relations diagram. "Overcoming" is achieved through Geometrical Analysis and Designed Experiments. The Study has set a new benchmark in the Stator riveting process by proving it can yield the desired results, and the need to adapt welding process is avoided.

This work analyzes the current situation of engineering education in India, especially technical universities characterized by low-quality infrastructure, inflexible curricula, and poor teaching resources including faculty, usually resulting in low student learning and very low graduate placement rates, and identifies the root causes of these problems, summarizes the methodologies adapted by previous researchers in the lean area, and applies the lean manufacturing philosophy to engineering education. This paper applies a value stream map to analyze the current state of engineering education. This technique identifies eight wastes and is given in form of a current state diagram. A future state diagram is presented that recommends solutions to eliminate these wastes. These recommendations make learning processes responsive to needs and provide long-lasting value to students. Overall, it is beneficial in developing a policy for engineering education.

Abstract Additive manufacturing (AM) processes are becoming increasingly important alongside conventional processes. As a result, the consumption of materials is also increasing. The most widespread process in polymer AM is Fused Layer Modelling (FLM). Today, the FDM process often uses synthetically produced materials based on petrochemical processes. However, there is little knowledge about which bio-based and recycled polymer materials are suitable for sustainable polymer AM. The aim of this paper is to carry out investigations of eight selected materials, which are already commercially available, to gain insights into their suitability as materials for polymer AM. These materials are divided into four categories: conventional, recycled, bio-based and fibre-reinforced thermoplastics. The evaluation model consists of a point system in which the materials are evaluated according to various weighted criteria. For technical, economic and ecological evaluation meaningful criterions were developed and applied. Based on the evaluations, three two-dimensional strength diagrams were developed, from which the results of the materials, on two of the evaluations in each case, can be read. These results are combined in a three-dimensional diagram. This representation provides the ability to make a precise selection of bio-based or recycled materials for polymer AM.

Sausages are among the most common processed meat products in the world. The optimization of the manufacturing conditions makes it possible to reduce and determine the optimal conditions for manufacturing the sausage. For this fact, a material balance, a determination of the nutritional, physicochemical and sensory characteristics and the relationship that binds these different parameters have been. Two manufacturing technological diagrams have been adopted, namely the technological diagram for manufacturing local cooked chicken sausage with cooking in water (T5-1) and steam cooking (T5-2). The results showed that approximately 25% of losses are recorded grouping the bones and the aponeuroses in the two cases of technologies. At the end of the embossing, about 3.5% loss stuck in the machines and no significant difference (p˃0.05) is observed at the level of the two cooking methods. After cooking, part of the sausage is deformed due to the increase in temperature. This loss is more remarkable (7.83%) for steam cooking (T5-2). At the end of the process, the yield is 94.46% for the T5-1 technology and 88.40% for the T5-2 technology. As for the nutritional and physicochemical results of local chicken sausages, they vary from one technology (T5-1) to another (T5-2).
