Повний текст джерелаThe object of our research concerns a subject which touches the daily the life of the individual; it is that of social representations of illness and of health. The theoretical framework of my work was supported by a vast mainly Anglo-Saxon and French literature. This research was aimed at providing sociological reading of the social representations concerning health and illness. The objective of our research consisted in updating the representations of the illness and health at two groups of young students coming from different social environments, from different cultures. The principal hypotheses concern represented them of 400 young students French and Syrian old from 18 to 30 years on the attributed meanings to the illness and to health. The instrument used is a questionnaire included 116 closed questions. The analysis was performed with the aid of software SPSS 10, and SAS 9, 1. Data (cross sorting flat and sorting) are presented in form of tables and of graph. We also accomplished factorial analyses of correspondence [AFC] adapted to the character of data. This study tried to give a photograph of the social reality of the illness and health in two different cultural universes, in France and Syria. This research performed on a comparative mode, explored the concepts of illness and health, the type of causal attribution emitted for the illness and the health, causative attribution of health and of illness, the representations of the behaviors of hygiene, the care behaviors, the role of the family and medical progress

For this purpose, are successively described and analysed the cosmogony, the ceremonial complex and the social organization of these river Indians. Comparisons are made on various points with the main representatives of the macro-ge family, particularly the Bororo. So are pointed out the affinity and the singularity of the Karaja dualistic morphology in comparison with the binary models of the Central Brazil. The non macro-ge features of the Karaja society are also emphasized so as to give rise to new comparative approaches within the South America lowlands societies

Повний текст джерелаOur thesis is entitled: "Traditional discourse on disease and death among the Kongo Niari: ethical questions, theological confrontation". The expectations of Christian populations on issues of healing allow us to catch attempts to reconstruct the imaginary around a mythical reading of the Bible within the conflict between tradition and modernity. When the latter takes place, it is an invitation to reflect on inculturation in the symbolic modern African universe. The objective is to move from one mythical reading to a hermeneutic dynamic reading, which affirms the similarities between the bible and cultures, but which poses disruptions which occur when the word of god is addressed to any culture. The universal Church is invited to re-read about its origins, its tradition. Salvation in Jesus Christ brings to completion all the expectations written at the heart of the history of each people. God's salvation in Jesus Christ took flesh in the historical context of men, but it still comes from above. It also depends on the cross. The latter is interpreted in the Kongo and more generally African context, governed by the power of the sorcerer, as an emergence of humanity in which relations between men are no longer controlled by the balance of power or by the manipulation of mystical forces, but by salvation, resurrection and superabundance of life which give different healings. The proclamation of salvation brought by Christ, dead and risen, calls us to find more appropriate ways to tell the solidarity of the Savior with the poor, the sick

Повний текст джерелаDuring the last decades, a part of psychology focused on happiness and several measure instruments have been developed. World-wide surveys and series of cross-cultural studies show that the level of happiness differs from a nation to another. The authors suggest that the level of happiness can be largely explained by the variations in social qualities like wealth, equality, freedom, etc. Happiness is higher in the countries where social qualities are higher. However, Brazil seems to have a level of happiness higher than France whereas social qualities are higher in France. Other variables would play a role in happiness. Psychosocial variables, differing between cultures and having a positive impact on happiness, could explain a part of the Brazilians 'higher happiness. In order to understand better why happiness differs between Brazilians and French, we observed the influence of psychosocial variables on happiness which levels are likely to be higher in Brazil than in France. In the current study, we examine the impact of religion, social relations and extraversion on happiness average between 102 Brazilian students and 104 French students. We also compare the levels for each variable between our two cultures. The data show the complexity of the relation between culture and happiness. Results suggest that the influence of religion, social relations and extraversion on the level of happiness is moderated by the culture. Religiosity and social relationships have a stronger impact on happiness in Brazil than in France whereas extraversion seems to have a stronger influence in France than in Brazil

These strategies keep us from the feeling of shame which puts on alert our modesty. The attacks whose target is the modesty belong to the same field, whereas the way we have to thwart them move a great deal all along centuries. The modesty strategies form our viewpoint to read the 18th and 19th centuries. This work embodies a link not only between two centuries but also between two types of source-books (fiction and egodocument). What are the divergences and convergences between these two centuries ? What is the influence of literature master pattern relevant to human behaviour ? We endeavour to set a perspective between the representation imposed by the society and their eventual applications. In the public field, the modesty strategies turn into politeness and civility to allow the individu to live peacefully in society. In the intimate field, the 18th century will build up the modesty strategies from the libertine figure in order to settle a received sexuality in the society. The aestheticism will be its form of sublimation. The 19th century leans on the two faces of the woman to lead to the « double standard » conceit : on the one hand the romanticism set between love and grief as a « modesty voucher », and the other hand the prostitution with the use of « fugitive figure »

Повний текст джерелаThis study, which is based on a corpus of telephone conversations and radio interviews in French and Farsi, sets out to describe, analyses and contrast a number of French and Iranian communicative practices in their sociocultural contexts and, in particular, to examine certain functions of the verbal component in interactive discourse. In order to take into account a range of cognitive, social, cultural and linguistic phenomena, various theoretical and methodological approaches are adopted and illustrated in volume 1, including ethnolinguistics, conversation analysis and discourse analysis and the ethnography of communication. As well as communicative acts and practices, topics dealt with include pragmatic failure and the address system. In volume 2, classes of functions are established and systematically contrasted within and between the two languages in question. The study shows how the sociocultural context and speakers' intentions and background knowledge determine different aspects of the speech event, including communicative acts and strategies, and fully confirms hymes's hypothesis that communication requires more than purely grammatical competence

The study of past and present custom (adat) enabled a perspective in the long duration and in a global view, hence respecting the internal logic of the community. The maguindanaon are settled in a wide valley in the western of the east of the island of Mindanao and they came to control most of this big island. In spite of the scarcity of sources, the evolution of the organization and of the functioning of this society has been reconstructed accordingly to two main axes: one is political and the other one is spiritual. Doing so we have been able to go back to the origins of the state and follow its development until its decline and its incorporation in the republic of the Philippines. Through the notion of the prince, we have been able to study the empire with the regions under its authority, the institutions of the state and their officers, the councils of elders, the stratas of a highly stratified society, the income of the prince and the economy. Islam gave its structures to the political organization. It penetrated almost all practices and moment of life. The depth of the islamization, which occurred in a discontinuous way. It had an effect at various degrees on maguidanaon custom and concepts. Because it took centuries to spread, it did not have a uniform influence in the different places of the area accordingly to the action of the missionaries. These religious and political notions are still part of contemporary actuality with autonomy which has been offered to the Muslims Filipinos in 1990, through which they obtain recognition of their political identity distinct from the population of the country which is mainly Christian

In the first part of this research, we present the populations examined, their social structure and the conditions of the study. The second part deals with the meaning and the evolution of excision in the societies where modernity is marked by the development of the mass-media and population mingling ; and with the rush of excision in the immigration surroundings where it had never been practised before and where it is producing a culture schock. The last part emphasizes reflections about changes and prospects in the practice of excision

Повний текст джерелаThe analysis of law and different legal norms, both traditional and modern in the central african republic requires a study of legal anthropology (social and cultural), because the past explains the present. The existing family law comprises a set of rules by which central african society can function. This is the result of a blending of ancient laws and those imposed by europeans and moslems over centuries. In present day society, the central african law has evolved so that the two co-exist due to a process of adaptation and compromise. Transformation of the family over the last few decades has been accompanied by a diversification in the way it is treated by the law. Whether looker at from an anthropological or sociological point of view, research has shown that the choice of one or other form of family law has resulted not only from factors within the legal system itself, but also from outside factors such as the conception of the family, social relationships or the political organization of society. In any event, protection and emencipation of women and children remain a constant concern of the modern legislator

Повний текст джерелаOur objective is to understand what is the part of individual choice in change ; how does an individual select between many possibilities and act to modify his positions when one part of his whole activities is interfered with. It it is also to understand the role of social interactions in the choices individually. Made. As our basis we have taken the theory of "activities system" (cnrs 259) to show that when the subject adopts a strategy (choice of organizing his activities in such a way as to respond to the disturbance and to build a new equilibrium) this is his "model if living" which intervenes because it constitutes taking a stand in relation to practices conflicts (modern traditional). The results obtained through statistical computation questionnaire send to 80 breeders allow us to say that : - it is by the interpersonal exchanges (coopera- tive or conflict ridden) that the subject manages to take a stand in relation to pratices conflicts and transforms his "model of living" ; - this taking a stand is made easier, is speeded up by some interactive situations produced in the midst of the "local professional group" (j. P. Darre) ; - it is according to the sens he gives to the innovation that the subject make an effort or not of his "appropriation". So the innovation can't be perceived as a simple process of adaptation and, because it arouse an activity of "intersignification", the technical change can no longer be studied independantly of the others

Повний текст джерелаThe province of North-East Tôhoku, in Japan, is considered by most of Japanese people to be a conservatory of tradition, especially Iwate prefecture which is far about 500 kms from Tôkyô. In this remote and backward region, people are very attached to their way of life. We study here a popular tradition of ritual dances called "divine amusements" kagura which materialise this attachment in the villages of Take and Ôtsugunai, respectivly located on south slope and at the foot of the Mount Hayachine. Kagura belongs to "folkloric arts" called geinô. The term kagura refers to dance and music of the shintô cult, i. E. "the path of Kami, "the path of gods" or "superior beings". But, as a whole, "divine amusements" belong to a very heterogenous category, as well religious and theatrical category. They are made of an archaical type of simple and complex ritual dances with music, songs and poems, which classifies them among dances of immemorial tradition. The majority of existing studies try to put up a truth of the tradition from an historical or religious point of view. This method, which cut off the ritual fron dancers' reality and sociological context, serves to build up theories which tend to fossilize it. We wanted to understand the meaning the actors give to their tradition today and get how it operates, allowing to redefine a local identity. This identity has been built in the context of a dualism which has been continuously emphasized by the autochtons. Therefore, we conducted our inquiry from a double point of view, not only concerning forms and contents of the ritual, but also touching the expressions of this dualism in social reality. By the analysis of ancient texts, of their exegesis, and comparaison with the local thought and the lessons we drawned from our own experiment on the spot, we confirm our first hypothesis : the dichotomy between those two ways of interpretation is corresponding to two ways of transmission, only the second operates in favour of the living perpetuation of the tradition

A fieldwork within a Congolese community in Paris and its suburbs, direct observations (collection of the body, funerals, Divine Mercy masses, end of the mourning period, birthdays, wedding celebrations), as well as the analysis of images (photos and videos) and view on death, revealed a more complex reality. Although on the one hand, practices and views describe a triple trend towards a simplification, an individualisation of bereavement and a desacralisation of the dead, on the other, the postmortem visual production analysis demonstrates a new ritual focused on remembrance, as well as individual and collective memory. It confirms familial postmortem image as a new means of paying tribute to the dead and to sacralise it again

This new ethic, as a product of the modern political and judicial "ethos", allows the creation of the "homoaestheticus" myth. For this purpose, our choice was the Brazilian region colled Sertao and its Iberian heritage through the work of ariano suassuna as well as the armorial movement. The idea of armoriality taken from suassuna's writings, will be illustrated by the analysis of the Caretas festival, at Jardim (state of Ceara). First are presented the spacial context, especially the historical specifities and the situation of women in Algeria. The analysis begins on the provate domain with explaination of the different places by using the concepts of urban anthropology. Gender difference is higher in the city than in rural country. The patterns of sociability are more conservative and controlled according to the age and the matrimonial position. Then, the public spaces of the city, which an maled dominated are investigated. Woman can leave easily their house to visit their relatives or to go the doctor but they must negociate to go to school or to a working place. In a changing society, the public spaces are supporting a social conflict. The sexual division is reproduced in spite or the regular mixity. The anology with the theories of separate development is confirmed: if women are using strategies to widen their space, the gender segregation is increasing

Повний текст джерелаThanks to linguistics, we have a model for describing a language. So you can consider politeness as a language to understand the structure. To understand a behaviour in a foreign culture, it is necessary to distinguish three levels : * the acts : the expressive part organised with basic elements structured by rules of order and selection. By comparing the notions of politeness in the american and japanese communities expatriated in paris, we have selected forty basic elements to analyse the representations of time, space, language, body language, rituals and relations ; * the intentions : the content of the message ; * the values : organised in a hierarchy and which is the ideological part. Teaching cross cultural communication consists in giving a method to distinguish and give access to these three levels, to identify the significant elements thanks to observation and questions, to challenge the immediate interpretation, to understand the content of the acts and to give access to the values. The main aims are to be able to translate behaviours in different semantic systems and to be able to adapt the messages to the receptor's system. This approach permits also to know your own system better and be able to explain it. That's why it is so important for a teacher of foreign culture and language

Brother-sister relation is dominant both when expressed in terms of same sexe (eb-yb; ez-yz) and in terms of opposite sexe (b and z), in the first case, eb encompasses the others, while in the second, b represents the totality. Intermariage shows that bz relation becomes a crossing of relations and mouvements which composes kinship and society. Thoughter mariage, a sister leaves her brother's group : she is a "true" in her husband's house ; meanwhile she is an "outsider" in her father's house, through his mariage, a brother is classified as an "outsideer" in his wb's house; meanwhile he is a "true" in his father's house. It means that bz relation is both structured by separation and union. The rituals use the same kinship classes and structures to establish the relation between the living and the dead, the "true" class represents the totality and brings offerings to the dead while the class "outsider" prepares the ritual, rithual in general. The central hypothesis of the research is that the more the subjects have contac t with french society, the weaker their integration into islam. On the other hand, the closer they are to this society, the more they adhere to the religious values of their own countries. If the results of these investigations have largely confirmed the previous statement, it is necessary, never theless, to point out that connection between change in religious behavior and level of sociability is not mecanichal. En effect, it necessary to distinguish certain beliefs and religious practices of a communal and normative type, that are resitant to acculturative situations, from other beliefs and practices of a peripheral and individual type, that are, by constast, more prediposed to change. To this, it is necessary to add that beliefs are more resistant than religious practices. But globally in an acculturative situation, weak religious practices are linked to a weak beliefs and vice versa. In the same way that exis t a correlation between the level of beliefs and vice versa. In the same way that exist a correlation between the level of belief and the level of religious practice, a firm connection appears between subjective identity (the feeling of belonging) of the subjects and their objective identity and religious practices). One must state, in addition, that subjective identity is also influenced by the ambient milieu; this identity sometimes takes defensive or rational postures when faced with the stigmatisation of islam in france

Повний текст джерелаThe hammam is a social and architectural organization whose sociology makes it possible to open a space with the reflexion. The Art hammamien in Morocco is a manner of building the culture of time and female, indissociable body of urban sociology and phenomenologic comprehension of the everyday life. It is a social order which harmonizes the City arabo-Moslem woman and gives an account of her urban space without reducing this type to detached formal invariants of their social or historical origin. It allows an anthropology of the space whose subtle division draws the contour of a collective behavior and presents the identity and the cultural history of the Moroccan cities. An ethnological presentation (ritualities and myths) shows the reality of the imaginary Morrocan where the tradition perdure but reconsidered to preserve the arbitrary one. Therefore, this space allows the conjunction of the various potentialities and the forms of subjectivitys mainly nudity which return to the freedom ofthe individual

Повний текст джерелаAs no etruscan historiography has reached us, our sources on the history of ancient tuscans are drawn essentially from greek and latin texts. These texts deal with the problem of etrurians people only in a fragmentary, and very often biased way. Thus, from those graeco-latin literary sources, one can witness the emergence of several images of the ancient tuscans, whose origin already puzzled the ancients; beside the image - a positive one - of the most religious of all peoples, one has to acknowledge the negative images of cruel barbarians, pirates or debauchees. It is the latter aspect, traditionally called truphe, according to the term used by ancient greek authors, that the present study aims at analysing. The first chapter, after an historical account of the question, endeavours to provide a definition for the concept of truphe - luxuria in latin sources -,that is to say a soft and voluptuous way of life, to determine its conditions of appareance and evolution. It then presents a corpus of greek and latin texts in relation with this image of the tuscan people. The second chapter is devoted to one of the essential sources of the etruscan truphe: a long fragment of theopompus of chios, centred on the etruscan woman and on the banquets of ancient tuscans. One can note the ethnographic character of the text, which follows along the lines of herodotus, and the realities of etruscan society in which it could find its origins, and of which it offers a distorted echo. The third chapter is a study of a long fragment of diodorus of sicily, which follows posidonius of apamea and reveals information on etruria which is of an essentially roman origin

Повний текст джерелаDedicated to the study of cultural identity in the Mixtec highlands of Southern Mexico, this thesis shows that the local peasants, whether considered "indians" or "hestizos", have maintained a common prehispanic heritage from which they draw their ability to change. Since the peasants define themselves as people "who work the land", their cultural identity is approached through the ethnoscientific and diachronic analysis of agroecological and alimentary systems. This approach goes beyond the peasant's ostensible self-deprecating discourses to understand the indigenous cosmovision, which is based upon the necessary alternation between a series of complementary poles: domesticated wild, hot cold, dry humid, life death, self-identity otherness. The study of plants, environmental spaces, agricultural and culinary instruments demonstrates that the categories of "Indian" and "mestizo" signify social status more than identity. Cultural identity, in fact, is based on kinship, community and land. It is not a static concept since the notion of alternation is constantly integrated in the indigenous way of thinking

Повний текст джерелаThrough the sociological observation of a mystic environment, we dreaded a comparative study, in which we examined what makes closer or differentiates the ritual meetings of some brotherhoods soufi in the northeast of Morocco. Oujda constituted a representative sample with branches of the brotherhoods chadilia, kadiria and gnawia. The headmaster's status in these meetings is evaluated by three symbolic criteria : a genealogy, the charisma and a skill in the esoteric and exoteric sciences. Concerning this last point, the intellectual knowledge of the headmaster rests on studies of Sunna and the Koran, generates two managers models of meetings (majma'), namely a committed model and the other one non-engaged. The majma' is a social organization and a way to build the culture'time and body of the soufi. It is inseparable of the sociology of the customs. The collective behavior within the majma' is limited by an outline which presents the historic and cultural identity of the headmaster and the member. The duties and the rights of the relation which is established between the headmaster and his follower is defined by traditions and customs of the society, lived differently according to their commitment. The follower makes an irrational and symbolic journey. This imaginary allows to understand concretely the coherence of majma' committed and non-engaged with the society and the universe

The number of learning of the Japanese language does not cease increasing. The Counter of manga to increase in the bookshops even in big supermarket. For what this appreciation? How this culture is represented? And which is even the position of the Japanese official organization or government? Especially from which this cultural inspiration comes? The two principal questions which are essential on our spirit and which we will try to examine in this thesis are as follows: which are the means to which to resort to include/understand a culture far away from his and how to communicate with people which do not share the same culture? At one time of globalization such as that that we do know today, which is the role of the training of a Japanese language which is, to date, the best solution to know and penetrate another culture? And do the Japanese, go or with their culture posts modern?

Повний текст джерелаAmong the rituals of commensality, the greek symposion takes an outstanding position. The collective consumption of wine is accompanied by numerous entertainments. Music, dances, love and kottabos are the four leading entertainments drawn by the painters and are to be found in attic and italiot symposia yet in a slightly different way. The prevailing ascendancy of the dionysiac eschatology can be detected in the scenes drawned in southern italy. If music, dances and love are mainly lavished by women to a male gathering, the game of kottabos is first and foremost played by the symposiasts. While the imagery allows us to determine the different components of the game - vases, gestures, players - and its symbolic system, the old texts, the etymology, the archeology for their part provide a considerable informative contribution, thus completing the figurative document. Theses different entertainments, at once related to life here on earth and to life beyond, reveal a funerary and play dionysus, the master of the symposion and of its imagery, the guarantor of an after death bliss for the initiated. The latter, freed by the wine god are granted access to the entertainments of the symposion of the ones who are blessed

Повний текст джерелаA detailed examination of the kalash of Pakistan and in particular, their religious thought, via 3 studies and 4 articles. The kalash, 3000 goatherds and farmers, speak an Indo-Aryan language and are polytheists in a Muslim world. 1980: "kalash, the last pagans of the Hindukush" presents the kalash through their unique religion. 1984: "pagan solstice, winter festivals among the kalash in northern Pakistan" is an ethnological account which describes and analyses the alliance rituals, the feasts of merit, funerals and the scenario of the winter solstice festival. It is a study of social and political organization, an examination of the bipolar concept of pure impure as well as an insight into symbolic thought, through the analysis of the stories of the shamans. 1990: "shamanism among the kalash of Pakistan - polytheistic mountain people faced with Islam" is a study of kalash religious syncretism: inherited Indo-Aryan values, aboriginal beliefs linked with hunting and shamanism, modified by Muslim influences. An analysis of the roles of successive shamans who, in a trance, laid down custom and the way of the world; smoothed over the problems both of individuals and groups, sometimes acting as healers. The study includes a comparison with the shamanism of neighboring groups, converts to Islam. An article (1984) is devoted to the funerary statues of the kalash, an element in their ancestor cult. Another article (1984) considers kalash thought through the mythical and sacred relationship with the animal world

Повний текст джерелаThis thesis is about funeral rites and songs of the Western moaaga area (Burkina Faso). Considered as belonging to the rog-n-miki field (literally: “what we found when we are born”, that is what is “traditional”) and often involving masks called sukoomse, these rituals take place in the contemporary context of the region, characterized by the cohabitation of several religions and by some migratory phenomena. The funerals are first considered according to the articulation between the substitutes of the dead, the way the living go through the mourning, and the ritual performances which are simultaneously sung. The part of the speech that is sung and the status of its performers are first analysed from a point of view that gives priority to the performance and the context of enunciation within the rite. Secondly the analysis of a corpus of extracts from three funeral wakes allows a semantic approach which complements the one regarding the context of enunciation in the rite. The reconstruction of the dead images in ancestors, and the way the living ones are linked together by particular nodes of relationships are central in the discourses of the singers, with speech being part of the ritual process because it participates in making this double work of reconstructing the dead image and reformulating the social relations
