The paper presents and discusses a hitherto overlooked text in Wangerooge Frisian, a short birthday invitation written in 1934 by the native speaker Louwine Luths. The text was first published in the members’ bulletin of a local genealogical society, which is currently only available in print in a few German archives. In the paper I re-publish the birthday invitation – along with another short fragment of Wangerooge Frisian from the bulletin – and discuss a number of salient linguistic features. The two short texts are of particular interest because they were written down by native speakers of Wangerooge Frisian.

Pregnancy carries substantial risk for developing lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTSs), with potential lifelong impacts on bladder health. Little is known about modifiable psychosocial factors that may influence the risk of postpartum LUTSs. We examined associations between depressive symptoms, perceived stress, and postpartum LUTSs, and the moderating effects of perceived social support, using data from a cohort study of Expect With Me group prenatal care (n = 462). One year postpartum, 40.3% participants reported one or more LUTS. The most frequent LUTS was daytime frequency (22.3%), followed by urinary incontinence (19.5%), urgency (18.0%), nocturia (15.6%), and bladder pain (6.9%). Higher odds of any LUTS were associated with greater depressive symptoms (adjusted odds ratio (AOR) 1.08, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.04–1.11) and perceived stress (AOR 1.12, 95% CI 1.04–1.19). Higher perceived social support was associated with lower odds of any LUTS (AOR 0.94, 95% CI 0.88–0.99). Perceived social support mitigated the adverse effects of depressive symptoms (interaction AOR 0.99, 95% CI 0.98–0.99) and perceived stress (interaction AOR 0.97, 95% CI 0.95–0.99) on experiencing any LUTS. Greater depressive symptoms and perceived stress may increase the likelihood of experiencing LUTSs after childbirth. Efforts to promote bladder health among postpartum patients should consider psychological factors and social support.

ObjectiveThis study aimed to systematically investigate the relationship between immune-inflammatory indexes with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTSs).DesignCross-sectional study.SettingNational Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) (2005–2008).ParticipantsA total of 2709 men with complete information for immune-inflammatory indexes and LUTSs were included from NHANES 2005–2008.Outcomes and analysesAutomated haematology analysing devices are used to measure blood cell counts, and LUTSs were presented by standard questionnaires. Non-linear and logistic regression analyses were used to estimate their association after adjustment for confounders.ResultsMultivariate logistic regression showed that pan-immune-inflammation value (OR (95% CI)=1.60 (1.14 to 2.23)), systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) (OR (95% CI)=1.82 (1.21 to 2.73)), neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR) (OR (95% CI)=1.81 (1.31 to 2.49)), derived NLR (dNLR) (OR (95% CI)=1.91 (1.35 to 2.70)) and C reactive protein (CRP) (OR (95% CI)=1.71 (1.05 to 2.79)) was positively associated with LUTS. Additionally, composite immune-inflammation markers exhibited a stronger association with LUTS than any single index, with the ORs for high SIRI+high CRP, high NLR+high CRP and high dNLR+high CRP being 2.26, 2.44 and 2.16, respectively (all p<0.05). Furthermore, subgroup analyses revealed that age, smoking status and hypertension have different effects on the relationship between immune-inflammatory markers and LUTS.ConclusionsThis study indicated that high levels of immune-inflammatory markers were associated with an increased risk of clinical LUTS. The combination of CRP with SIRI, NLR and dNLR, respectively, showed a stronger positive correlation with clinical LUTS compared with any single index.

This study aimed to investigate the correlation between lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTSs) and falls considering places where falls can occur in adult males. We analyzed 101 862 males in the 2011 Korean Community Health Survey. LUTSs were assessed using the International Prostate Symptom Score system. The rate of total and indoor falls significantly increased with the LUTS severity, respectively. After adjusting for age and other confounding variables, the odds ratios (ORs) for total falls were significantly high for the mild (OR = 1.63, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.54-1.71), moderate (OR = 2.35, 95% CI = 2.16-2.56), and severe groups (OR = 2.83, 95% CI = 2.49-3.22), relative to the normal group. Indoor fall experience was the same for the mild (OR = 1.56, 95% CI = 1.36-1.79), moderate (OR = 2.37, 95% CI = 1.97-2.85), and severe groups (OR = 3.77, 95% CI = 3.00-4.72). Nocturia, hesitancy, and urgency were significantly associated with indoor falls. The association between falls and the degree of LUTS was observed in both the young and the elderly. Therefore, further studies are needed to determine the effects of treatment of LUTS on the risk of falls and the effectiveness of the fall prevention program.

It remains uncertain to what extent lower urinary tract (LUT) symptom (LUTS) is a comorbidity of myasthenia gravis (MG). We prospectively administered a LUTS questionnaire devised for detecting neurogenic pelvic organ dysfunction (not validated) in an MG group and a healthy control group and compared the results. The MG group comprised 21 patients: 15 women and 6 men, with age range 22–73 (mean 47) years, illness duration range 0.2–8 (mean 3.5) years, median Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA) grade 2, all walking independently. Therapies included thymectomy in 17, predonisolone 5–20 mg/day in 10, and pyridostigmine bromide 60–180 mg/day in 9 patients. The control group, who were undergoing an annual health survey, comprised 235 consecutive subjects: 120 women and 115 men, with age range 30–69 (mean 48) years. The questionnaire had 9 questions. Each question was scored from 0 (none) to 3 (severe) with an additional quality of life (QOL) index scored from 0 (satisfied) to 3 (extremely dissatisfied). Statistical analysis was made using Student’s t test. Compared with the control subjects, the frequency of LUTSs in the MG patients was significantly higher for daytime frequency (43%; p < 0.01), nocturia (24%; p < 0.01), and urinary incontinence (43%; p < 0.05). The LUTS-related QOL index for the MG patients was significantly higher for MG patients as a whole than that for all control patients (29%) (p < 0.05). In conclusion, our study results showed that MG patients had significantly more LUTSs (overactive bladder) than healthy control subjects and had worse LUTS-related QOL; therefore, amelioration of LUTS in MG is important.

Tai chi exercise has been recommended as suitable for the improvement of health in the elderly. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of tai chi on lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTSs), quality of life (QoL), and sex hormone levels in patients with benign prostate hypertrophy (BPH). The elderly patients with BPH were randomized to receive tai chi or usual care. Fifty-six participants were randomized into either the tai chi group (n=28) or the control group (n=28). After 12 weeks of treatment, the tai chi group showed significant improvement in LUTS and QoL. There was a significant effect of tai chi on testosterone but no significant effect on insulin or glucose. No serious adverse events were observed during the study period. In conclusion, our results suggest that 12 weeks of tai chi may improve LUTS and QoL in elderly patients with BPH.

Objetivos: Objetivo desta pesquisa bibliográfica é apresentar e discutir duas propostas de ensino das lutas, artes marciais e esportes de combate (LAMECs): a primeira propõe o ensino por similaridades e a segunda a partir dos princípios operacionais de cada modalidade. Métodos: Esta investigação é de cunho qualitativo e do tipo propositivo por apresentar alternativa na elaboração de ações, oferecendo exemplos de atuação implantados tanto em componente curricular Lutas, quanto em um programa de extensão universitária que oferece Judô para crianças e jovens. Resultados e discussão: Foram apresentados dois tópicos de discussão. O primeiro disserta sobre o ensino das lutas a partir de suas similaridades e no segundo propomos por meio de exemplos práticos o ensino das LAMECs por suas dinâmicas operacionais. Considerações finais: Conclui-se que as propostas podem ser complementares, abordando-se primeiramente os aspectos comuns e similares das lutas em geral e posteriormente, as dinâmicas operacionais de qualquer modalidade específica a ser tratada, aprofundando-se em suas questões táticas, técnicas, históricas e sociais.

The current literature indicates that lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTSs) related to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) have a heterogeneous pathophysiology. Pressure flow studies (UDSs) remain the gold standard evaluation methodology for such patients. However, as the function of the detrusor muscle depends on its vasculature and perfusion, the underlying causes of LUTS likely include abnormalities of detrusor oxygenation and hemodynamics, and available treatment options include agents thought to act on the detrusor smooth muscle and/or vasculature. Hence, near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), an established optical methodology for monitoring changes in tissue oxygenation and hemodynamics, has relevance as a means of expanding knowledge related to the pathophysiology of BPH and potential treatment options. This methodological report describes how to conduct simultaneous NIRS monitoring of detrusor oxygenation and hemodynamics during UDS, outlines the clinical implications and practical applications of NIRS, explains the principles of physiologic interpretation of NIRS voiding data, and proposes an exploratory hypothesis that the pathophysiological causes underlying LUTS include detrusor dysfunction due to an abnormal hemodynamic response or the onset of oxygen debt during voiding.

A partir das narrativas audiovisuais, penso nos afetos possíveis em relação à epidemia de HIV/aids em diálogos entre a década de 1990, na qual o filme se passa, e a contemporaneidade. O filme é visto como território que engendra pedagogias e currículos menores e desviantes, abrindo brechas ao criar conexões entre HIV/aids, potência de vida e desejo, fugindo das educações maiores que estigmatizam as vivências com HIV/aids e participam da manutenção de políticas de silêncio, exclusão, como também morte civil e biológica.

To analyze the urinary biomarkers in men with lower urinary-tract symptoms (LUTS) and identify interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS) from the other lower urinary-tract dysfunctions (LUTDs) by the levels of characteristic urinary biomarkers. In total, 198 men with LUTS were prospectively enrolled and urine samples were collected before intervention or medical treatment. Videourodynamic studies were routinely performed and the LUTDs were diagnosed as having bladder-outlet obstruction (BOO) such as bladder-neck dysfunction, benign prostatic obstruction, or poor relaxation of external sphincter (PRES); and bladder dysfunction such as detrusor overactivity (DO), hypersensitive bladder (HSB), and IC/BPS. Patients suspicious of IC/BPS were further confirmed by cystoscopic hydrodistention under anesthesia. The urine samples were investigated for 11 urinary inflammatory biomarkers including eotaxin, IL-6, IL-8, CXCL10, MCP-1, MIP-1β, RANTES, TNF-α, NGF, BDNF, and PGE2; and 3 oxidative stress biomarkers 8-OHdG, 8-isoprostane, and TAC. The urinary biomarker levels were analyzed between LUTD subgroups and IC/BPS patients. The results of this study revealed that among the patients, IC/BPS was diagnosed in 48, BOO in 66, DO in 25, HSB in 27, PRES in 15, and normal in 17. Patients with BOO had a higher detrusor pressure and BOO index than IC/BPS, whereas patients with IC/BPS, BOO, and DO had a smaller cystometric bladder capacity than the PRES and normal subgroups. Among the urinary biomarkers, patients with IC/BPS had significantly higher levels of eotaxin, MCP-1, TNF-α, 8-OHdG, and TAC than all other LUTD subgroups. By a combination of different characteristic urinary biomarkers, TNF-α, and eotaxin, either alone or in combination, had the highest sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value to discriminate IC/BPS from patients of all other LUTD subgroups, BOO, DO, or HSB subgroups. Inflammatory biomarker MCP-1 and oxidative stress biomarkers 8-OHdG and TAC, although significantly higher in IC/BPS than normal and PRES subgroups, did not have a diagnostic value between male patients with IC/BPS and the BOO, DO, or HSB subgroups. The study concluded that using urinary TNF-α and eotaxin levels, either alone or in combination, can be used as biomarkers to discriminate patients with IC/BPS from the other LUTD subgroups in men with LUTS.

Phytotherapy for lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTSs) due to benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) is progressively demanded by patients and trusted by physicians. The aim was to assess the efficacy of a mix of pumpkin seed extract, soy germ isoflavonoids, and cranberry (Novex®) in the management of mild to moderate LUTS in BPH patients. Male patients aged ≥40 years, who had had mild to moderate LUTS for >6 months at screening, with no previous therapy or who are still symptomatic despite current use of alpha-blockers, were recruited. Exclusion criteria were an IPSS >19 and an age >80 years. The mixed compound was administered orally, daily, for 3 months. Patients were evaluated by means of IPSS, urological quality of life (uQoL) index, and International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF-5) at 3 visits: baseline (visit 1), 30 days (visit 2), and 90 days after treatment (visit 3). Among 163 screened patients, 128 patients (61.8 ± 9.9 years) were recruited. IPSS improved from 15 (Q1 : 12–Q3 : 17) in visit 1, to 11 (Q1 : 8–Q3 : 14) in visit 2, and to 9 (Q1 : 6–Q3 : 12) in visit 3 (p<0.001). uQoL improved from 4 (3–4) in visit 1, to 3 (2–3) in visit 2, and to 2 (1–2) in visit 3 (p<0.001). The patients had an IIEF-5 score of 15 (12–18.7) in visit 1, 15 (12–18) in visit 2, and 17 (13–19) in visit 3 (p=0.99 visits 1 vs. 2, p=0.004 visits 2 vs. 3, and p=0.001 visits 1 vs. 3). Treating mild to moderate LUTS/BPH patients with Novex® might therefore relieve symptoms, improve the quality of life, and have a mild beneficial effect on erectile function.

Objectives. To examine the feature of men who benefit from dose escalation of naftopidil for lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTSs).Methods. Based on the IPSS, men reporting LUTS were prospectively studied using 50 mg/day of naftopidil for the first 4 weeks; satisfied patients continued its 50 mg/day (), and those reporting unsatisfactory improvement received its 75 mg/day () for the next 4 weeks.Results. The 75 mg group showed improvement in the total IPSS and QOL score in a dose-dependent manner (at 4 weeks: , at 4 weeks versus 8 weeks: ). In the 50 mg group, both scores reduced at 4 weeks, thereafter unchanged. The baseline slow stream score alone was higher in the 75 mg group (). The rate of change in the QOL score during the initial 4 weeks (ΔQOL) and Δnocturia was smaller in the 75 mg group ().Conclusions. Men with high slow stream score and unsatisfactory improvement in nocturia may benefit from dose escalation of naftopidil.

By exploring a cross-textual reading from leading Muslim interpreters in Indonesia, Hamka with Al Azhar Juzu Commentary, Quraish Shihab with Al Misbah Commentary and interpretation of the Ministry of Religion, this article unveils the hidden meaning of Luth’s story, which today’s readers often overlook, especially concerning the text of the Qur'an, namely Surah Asy-Syu’ara 26: 166-175, Surah Al-Naml 27: 54-59 and Surah Al-Ankabut 29: 28-30. Through a cross-textual reading, the article unveils the new meaning of the story, i.e., the crimes of the Sodomites not only related to sexual violence and hostility, but also, with the terms al-fahisyah (abomination), al-sayyiat (crime), al-musrifun (people who are excessive), al-’adun (people who transgress), al-jahl (ignorance), and alkhaba’is (bad deeds), which are the accumulation of various kinds of crimes, crimes, and abominations degrading humanity. The cross-textual reading between the interpreters of the Qur’an and the Bible provides the viewpoints, insights, and values in the cross-textual hermeneutical encounter of different religions, traditions, and scriptures. Keywords: Story of Luth, Christian and Islam, Cross-textual, Homosexuality, Hermeneutic Abstrak Kisah Luth (baca: Lot) biasanya menjadi rujukan untuk berbicara tentang homoseksualitas baik di dalam agama Kristen maupun Islam. Dengan eksplorasi pembacaan secara lintas tekstual dari mufasir Islam terkemuka di Indonesia yaitu Hamka dengan Tafsir Al Azhar Juzu, Quraish Shihab dengan Tafsir Al Misbah, dan Tafsir Kementerian Agama, artikel ini akan menggali makna tersembunyi dari kisah Luth yang sering kali terlewatkan dari perhatian pembaca masa kini, khususnya berkaitan dengan teks Al-Qur’an yaitu Surah Asy-Syu’ara 26: 166-175, Surah Al-Naml 27: 54-59 dan Surah Al-Ankabut 29: 28-30. Makna baru dalam tulisan ini adalah kejahatan kaum Sodom tidak hanya menyangkut soal kekerasan seksual dan ketidakramahan (inhospitality) saja, tetapi juga berkaitan dengan istilah al-fahisyah (kekejian), al-sayyiat (kejahatan), al-musrifun (orang yang berlebihan), al-‘adun (orang yang melampaui batas), al-jahl (kebodohan), dan al-khaba’is (perbuatan buruk), yang merupakan akumulasi dari berbagai macam kejahatan, kriminalitas dan kekejian yang merendahkan martabat kemanusiaan. Dari pembacaan lintas tekstual antara mufasir Al-Qur’an dan Alkitab, kita mendapatkan cara pandang, wawasan, dan nilai-nilai yang membangun dalam perjumpaan cross-textual hermeneutic antara agama, tradisi, dan kitab suci yang berbeda. Анотація:

Este artigo propõe um diálogo entre duas abordagens; de Marx, por um lado, e da antropologia de P. Clastres e Viveiros de Castro, por outro. Trata-se de trocas acerca do Estado, a partir das respectivas concepções de abolição e recusa deste. Inicia-se com uma apresentação e justificativa desse diálogo, além de explanar também acerca de que Marx se está falando. Após colocar de modo inicial ambos os conceitos-chave e seus elos, tal encontro ganha outros desdobramentos, graças aos Mil Platôs de Deleuze e Guattari. Enfim, a análise de certas lutas, antigas e contemporâneas, que ambas as perspectivas trabalham do ponto de vista teórico, permite aprofundar tal proposta.

O trabalho parte da análise das relações entre governamentalidade e lutas de resistência, procurando saber se ainda é possível entender o papel das lutas agonísticas e das lutas libertárias no mundo democrático atual, gerido por uma máquina burocrática que teria por função a regulação e controle da vida social. Por outro lado, o que seria democracia em países periféricos como os que estão situados nas Américas? Como seria o caso do Brasil? Resumo Este artigo versa sobre a reconfiguração do sentido de justiça das lutas trabalhistas frente à terceirização. Tais reconfigurações foram identificadas por meio da análise de conteúdo de pronunciamentos de representantes do trabalho em uma audiência pública sobre terceirização, promovida pelo Tribunal Superior do Trabalho em 2011. Por meio dessa análise, identificou-se que, além das tradicionais reivindicações por direitos sociais e regulação da economia pelo Estado, de modo a garantir uma redistribuição mais justa de bens e oportunidades nas sociedades capitalistas, face à terceirização, as lutas trabalhistas enfrentam o desafio de articular demandas pelo respeito à dignidade humana dos trabalhadores terceirizados. A denúncia é que a terceirização cria uma subclasse de trabalhadores que são sistematicamente impedidos de acessar seus direitos, estão endemicamente sujeitos a maiores riscos de acidente e morte no trabalho, são discriminados nos ambientes de trabalho e são colocados na posição de mercadoria nos processos de intermediação de mão de obra. Conclui-se que, ao ter que argumentar sobre a igual humanidade entre trabalhadores diretos e terceirizados, as lutas trabalhistas aproximam-se da lógica das lutas minoritárias. Essa aproximação significa uma expansão do conteúdo de justiça das lutas trabalhistas, que ultrapassam as demandas redistributivas e representativas, tradicionalmente atribuídas a elas, trazendo a questão de classes para o domínio simbólico da moral.**, ***

O presente artigo tem como escopo compreender a passagem de um constitucionalismo do comum – já proposto anteriormente – para o campo das lutas cosmotécnicas, no sentido de que não seria mais possível pensar e constituir um projeto cosmopolítico a não ser a partir das mesmas. Para tanto, o que se propõe, a partir dos limites e crises do Estado e do constitucionalismo que o acompanha, buscar a construção de projetos cosmopolíticos através do redimensionamento do constitucionalismo, proposto isso no trabalho pelo viés do comum e dos direitos humanos, é imprescindível constituir o comum para além dos limites do constitucionalismo – estatalista ou não – pois, a constituição do comum na atualidade se dá em um campo em disputa por práticas tecnopolíticas através de lutas cosmotécnicas e processos de insurreição, tendo como pano de fundo os impactos das globalizações neoliberais e da disrupção da era digital.

A entrevista com Ana Paula Oliveira, fundadora do Movimento Mães de Manguinhos – favela situada na zona norte da cidade do Rio de Janeiro, BR – traz o relato de seu sofrimento enquanto uma mãe que perdeu seu filho pela ação violenta do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, em 2014. Todavia, não se trata tão somente do relato de uma tragédia individual, mas da transformação do luto em luta, rompendo com a condição de vitimizada e de silenciamento. A entrevistada compartilha a força de quem resiste, de quem não se intimida e utiliza o próprio sofrimento para acolher e prevenir o sofrimento de outras mães que passam por situações de luto semelhante em várias regiões do Brasil. É se juntando a outras mães e a outros movimentos sociais, com a força de quem tem coragem de aprender e transformar, que encontra algumas respostas à sua pergunta: “Porque a polícia matou meu filho?”

A partir das pesquisas com o pensamento de Deleuze e de Guattari, o artigo centra-se na investigação do conceito de Urstaat para sustentar que as formas antidemocráticas atuais não passam de atualizações do próprio Urstaat. Ao desenvolver o que é o Urstaat e o seu avanço como arquétipo de um Estado primordial, apresentamos a hipótese de que a democracia é uma produção de relações subjetivas que necessariamente vão na direção contrária dos sensos e dos consensos do Estado. Para tanto, o artigo se vale do pensamento político de Rancière para defender o registro singular da democracia face a política universalista do Urstaat, já que se tratam dos lugares da multiplicidade e da máquina de guerra para se pensar as lutas democráticas contemporâneas. O presente artigo tem como tema a uberização na fase do capitalismo neoliberal, tendo como escopo delinear as lutas dos motoboys a serviço de plataformas como Ifood, Uber, em tempos de Pandemia, com o fim de identificar o que é necessário para garantir direitos humanos fundamentais relacionados ao trabalho. Nessa direção, buscar-se-á, a partir do movimento dos motoboys, avaliar em que medida essas novas formas de relação no mundo do trabalho, anunciadas como resultantes de empreendedorismo, representam uma nova forma de exploração, especialmente em um momento no qual esta categoria tornou-se essencial para a sobrevivência de vários setores da economia. Analisar a uberização, as lutas sociais em tempos de Pandemia, e como podem os motoboys se emanciparem frente a Plataformas que se apropriam de parcela significativa do seu trabalho, sem garantir seus direitos é o objetivo geral desse trabalho. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de natureza teórico-exploratória, pautada no método de levantamento de dados por meio da técnica de pesquisa bibliográfica e como método de abordagem, o dedutivo.

No Brasil, a luta pela terra tem sido liderada por famílias sem-terra, indígenas, quilombolas e comunidades tradicionais (seringueiros, extrativistas, quebradeiras-de-coco, ribeirinhos, etc.), que demandam acesso e/ou controle da terra com significações distintas dos direitos de propriedade privada. Apesar dessas lutas sociais terem conquistado quase 26% do território nacional, os conflitos e a concentração fundiária ainda são uma realidade, agravada pela expansão do agronegócio e da fronteira agrícola. O presente artigo investiga a dinâmica histórica e jurídica das lutas sociais por terra e direitos territoriais. Objetiva analisar os regimes de posse e propriedade como materialização das noções de território, que transcendem a terra apenas como meio e local de produção.

O objetivo deste artigo é descobrir como os profissionais de educação física escolar desenvolvem os procedimentos de ensino e aprendizagem das lutas (Karatê-do, Judô, Taekwondo, lutas associadas) na diretoria de ensino Público do Governo do Estado de São Paulo (Santos, Bertioga, Cubatão e Guarujá). Assim o presente estudo tem como objetivos específicos: a) identificar os conhecimentos para as aulas de lutas; b) se trabalham junto com os PCNs nos blocos de conteúdo; c) quais são as maiores dificuldades. Participou deste estudo um total de 112 profissionais graduados em educação física. Os dados foram obtidos por meio de questionário estruturado com perguntas fechadas e de observação de aulas de Educação Física. Através da análise dos resultados obtidos, pode-se entender como é apresentado às lutas aos alunos na educação física escolar.
