The article proposes an apparatus of logic and linguistic modeling for extracting knowledge from electronic text documents. Different types of forms of logic and linguistic models have been singled out for the formalized representation of complex sentences of natural language. The author formulates the rules and carries out the classification of separate forms of logic and linguistic models depending on syntactic constructions of sentences natural language. Such separate forms of logic and linguistic models are templates with certain logical operations, which are used depending on the punctuation marks and connecting words applied in sentences. The specific order of simple predicates depends on the logical connections between simple sentences in the structure of the complex one. This allows to develop an algorithm for further analysis of textual information and its recovery from formal models of knowledge representation. Figs.: 1. Refs.: 12 titles.

Negative-positive-neutral logic provides an alternative framework for fuzzy cognitive maps development and decision analysis. This paper reviews basic notion of NPN logic and NPN relations and proposes adaptive approach to causality weights assessment. It employs linguistic models of causality weights activated by measurement-based fuzzy cognitive maps? concepts values. These models allow for quasi-dynamical adaptation to the change of concepts values, providing deeper understanding of possible side effects. Since in the real-world environments almost every decision has its consequences, presenting very valuable portion of information upon which we also make our decisions, the knowledge about the side effects enables more reliable decision analysis and directs actions of decision maker.

The article outlines the problem of finding meaningful units in electronic text documents and analyzes the main shortcomings of existing approaches of extracting knowledge from textual information. The article is devoted to the study of the peculiarities of the process of construction of logic and linguistic models of electronic text documents, in particular the description and research of the peculiarities of knowledge bases of the system of automated construction of logic and linguistic models of Ukrainian- language text documents. The author proposes a scheme of formalization of textual information based on the construction of a logic and linguistic model of an electronic text document. The first stage of construction is the formation of logical and linguistic models of natural language sentences, which uses a specially developed method of automated formation of logical and linguistic models. This method is based on parsing sentences of natural language, using words of natural language as a thesaurus database and using a database of rules to identify logical connections. This in turn is made possible by the author’s developed knowledge base 1, which is used to determine the role of each word in an electronic text document and serves as a production model with formalized rules of the Ukrainian language for forming phrases that can form members of sentence of natural language. The knowledge base 2 was created by the author to find connections between sentences that are part of an electronic text document and is a set of productions that reflect the principles of synthesis of logic and linguistic models of sentences of natural language, ie the rules of combining and replacing structural components of logic and linguistic models of sentences of natural language. The knowledge base 3, used to build the linguistic component of the logic and linguistic model of a text document, is a set of productions that contains the rules of forming of transition networks to interpret the thematic progression of the text. The application of the developed formalized rules was demonstrated on specific text fragments. Applying the developed knowledge bases allows to trace the process of formation of logic and linguistic models of electronic text documents.

In real conditions, when the task of formally describing the control process of a rather complex process arises, it is necessary to take into account several external factors (parameters) and their values, which potentially tend to Infinity. At the same time, the system's response is not limited to just one control action. To automate the process of composing all possible combinations of linguistic descriptions of variables at the stage of fuzzy conditional statements and the decision-making mechanism on the use of control actions in the development of control and decision-making models, it is proposed to use fuzzy logical models. Ways to construct algorithms for converting input perturbations of complex systems into conceptual relations for automating the control process and supporting decision-making are considered. The fuzzy logic apparatus relation is used to formalize, process, and make decisions about the use of system control signals in response to external disturbances. Fuzzy control systems combine information from human experts (natural language) with measurements and mathematical models. Fuzzy Systems will turn the knowledge base into a mathematical formulation that has proven very effective in many applications. When designing a fuzzy system, many questions need to be answered, in particular in creating linguistic models to describe the functioning of complex systems, in particular radar mapping systems with recognition of objects on the ground and making decisions for controlling unmanned systems. Thus, at the stage of composing a set of fuzzy instructions (statements), it is of interest to formalize the following processes, such as determining all possible combinations of terms of linguistic variables and making a decision on the application of control actions, depending on external factors. In the process of formalizing the process of determining all possible combinations and terms of linguistic variables, it is necessary to create fuzzy instructions (rules) for managing a system or object for fuzzy-logical control models and decision-making in the process of developing models for the functioning of complex systems.

AbstractThe paper introduces fuzzy linguistic logic programming, which is a combination of fuzzy logic programming, introduced by P. Vojtáš, and hedge algebras in order to facilitate the representation and reasoning on human knowledge expressed in natural languages. In fuzzy linguistic logic programming, truth values are linguistic ones, e.g., VeryTrue, VeryProbablyTrue and LittleFalse, taken from a hedge algebra of a linguistic truth variable, and linguistic hedges (modifiers) can be used as unary connectives in formulae. This is motivated by the fact that humans reason mostly in terms of linguistic terms rather than in terms of numbers, and linguistic hedges are often used in natural languages to express different levels of emphasis. The paper presents: (a) the language of fuzzy linguistic logic programming; (b) a declarative semantics in terms of Herbrand interpretations and models; (c) a procedural semantics which directly manipulates linguistic terms to compute a lower bound to the truth value of a query, and proves its soundness; (d) a fixpoint semantics of logic programs, and based on it, proves the completeness of the procedural semantics; (e) several applications of fuzzy linguistic logic programming; and (f) an idea of implementing a system to execute fuzzy linguistic logic programs.

The purpose of this study was to determine student achievement in the TAI and Jigsaw cooperative learning model in terms of multiple intelligences. This research method is a quasi experiment. The population of this study was students of Class VIII Middle Schools in the city of Banjarmasin, while the sample was VIII Class students of SMPN 1 Banjarmasin, SMPN 7 Banjarmasin and SMPN 14 Banjarmasin. Data analysis was performed inferential statistics. The results of the study indicate that (1) There are significant differences in student achievement in each of the TAI and Jigsaw cooperative learning models before and after treatment; (2) there is no significant difference in student achievement between linguistic intelligence, mathematical logic and others; (3) there is no significant difference in student achievement between linguistic intelligence, mathematical logic and others in the implementation of the TAI type learning model; (4) there is no significant difference in student achievement between linguistic intelligence, mathematical logic and others in the implementation of Jigsaw type learning models; (5) There is a significant difference between students' learning achievement and linguistic intelligence between learning models type TAI and Jigsaw

<p>Interactions between genes and the proteins they synthesize shape genetic regulatory networks (GRN). Several models have been proposed to describe these interactions, been the most commonly used those based on ordinary differential equations (ODEs). Some approximations using piecewise linear differential equations (PLDEs), have been proposed to simplify the model non linearities. However they not allways give good results. In this context, it has been developed a model capable of representing small GRN, combining characteristics from the ODE’s models and fuzzy inference systems (FIS). The FIS is trained through an artificial neural network, which forms an Adaptive Nertwork-based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS). This network allows to adapt the membership and output functions from the FIS according to the training data, thus, reducing the previous knowledge needed to model the specific phenomenon.<br /> In addition, Fuzzy Logic allows to express their rules through linguistic labels, which also allows to incorporate expert knowledge in a friendly way. The proposed model has been used to describe the Lac Operon in E. Coli and it has been compared with the models already mentioned. The outcome errors due to the training process of the ANFIS network are comparable with those of the models based on ODEs. Additionally, the fuzzy logic approach provides modeling flexibility and knowledge acquisition advantages.</p>

Do state-of-the-art models for language understanding already have, or can they easily learn, abilities such as boolean coordination, quantification, conditionals, comparatives, and monotonicity reasoning (i.e., reasoning about word substitutions in sentential contexts)? While such phenomena are involved in natural language inference (NLI) and go beyond basic linguistic understanding, it is unclear the extent to which they are captured in existing NLI benchmarks and effectively learned by models. To investigate this, we propose the use of semantic fragments—systematically generated datasets that each target a different semantic phenomenon—for probing, and efficiently improving, such capabilities of linguistic models. This approach to creating challenge datasets allows direct control over the semantic diversity and complexity of the targeted linguistic phenomena, and results in a more precise characterization of a model's linguistic behavior. Our experiments, using a library of 8 such semantic fragments, reveal two remarkable findings: (a) State-of-the-art models, including BERT, that are pre-trained on existing NLI benchmark datasets perform poorly on these new fragments, even though the phenomena probed here are central to the NLI task; (b) On the other hand, with only a few minutes of additional fine-tuning—with a carefully selected learning rate and a novel variation of “inoculation”—a BERT-based model can master all of these logic and monotonicity fragments while retaining its performance on established NLI benchmarks.

Modeling of financial, socioeconomic and integration indicators of fishing enterprises in conditions of uncertainty and constant transformation requires the development of an economic and mathematical model for studying the emergent state, which would be based on a set of main factors of influence of qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the dynamics of functioning. To create an expert modeling system for multi factorial analysis of the processes of functioning and management decisions of industrial enterprises, a mathematical apparatus based on the theory of fuzzy logic and a linguistic variable was used. This economic and mathematical method is a computer of mathematical algorithms, models and formalized methods and is based on the stagnation of expert linguistic information for predicting indicators of development or decline in order to form the basic mechanism for detecting latent properties of an emergent state. To develop an economic and mathematical model expert assessments and the results of analytical and experimental scientific studies of a qualitative and quantitative nature are used. Fuzzy logic modeling allows you to combine quantitative and qualitative factors and allows you to identify latent signals of emergent properties and determine the level of emergent state of industrial enterprises

In this study, we propose a hierarchical fuzzy system for human in a driver-vehicle-environment system to model takeover by different drivers. The driver's behavior is affected by the environment. The climate, road and car conditions are included in fuzzy modeling. For obtaining fuzzy rules, experts' opinions are benefited by means of questionnaires on effects of parameters such as climate, road and car conditions on driving capabilities. Also the precision, age and driving individuality are used to model the driver's behavior. Three different positions are considered for driving and decision making. A fuzzy model calledModel Iis presented for modeling the change of steering angle and speed control by considering time distances with existing cars in these three positions, the information about the speed and direction of car, and the steering angle of car. Also we obtained two other models based on fuzzy rules calledModel IIandModel IIIby using Sugeno fuzzy inference.Model IIandModel IIIhave less linguistic terms thanModel Ifor the steering angle and direction of car. The results of three models are compared for a driver who drives based on driving laws.

The objective of this paper was to develop fuzzy models for asphalt pavement performance. The fuzzy logic can convert linguistic or qualitative variables into quantitative values. This feature makes it possible to gather experts’ experience about the knowledge they have on factors that affect the pavement performance and its state condition. Forms developed in an organized way were applied for acquiring the knowledge from experts on pavement construction and maintenance. The variables pavement age, traffic, International Roughness Index (IRI) and Flexible Pavement Condition Index (FPCI) were associated with numerical scales and linguistic concepts such as new, old, light, heavy, good, fair, and poor. From the information obtained through the application of forms, variables were modeled with the aid of software InFuzzy and fuzzy models were developed for IRI and FPCI. For validating the model, a straight line adjustment was used to relate the predicted to the observed data. Also, the corresponding correlation coefficient (r) was calculated and residuals were analyzed. The developed models fitted to observed data and correlation coefficient r = 0.71 and 0.70, respectively.

The paper generalizes scientific and methodological approaches to the development of economic and mathematical models based on the theory of fuzzy logic and linguistic variable. Forecasting and decision support using fuzzy mathematical models allows to summarize and concentrate expert information, to predict the course of processes in various fields, taking into account quantitative and qualitative factors. In comparison with known expert methods, the theory of fuzzy logic has a number of advantages, the main of which are the automation of calculations through the use of mathematical packages, such as Matlab, Scilab; the ability to learn models, use quantitative and qualitative properties of the object of modeling, obtain solutions for various related problems on the basis of one knowledge base filled with expert, analytical and experimental information, and others. It is substantiated that the construction of membership functions is one of the main stages in the construction of fuzzy mathematical models. The main ways in which you can build membership functions depending on the method of obtaining information are considered. Two methods are used to construct membership functions: the involvement of many experts and the involvement of one expert. The method of constructing membership functions involves fassification of fuzzy estimates of influencing factors. The phase of fasification involves the choice of fuzzy terms for the linguistic assessment of the influencing factors given on the corresponding universal sets. The most common membership functions are generalized, which include triangular, trapezoidal, Gaussian, sigmoid. An example of an expert questionnaire is given, which should be used when building a mathematical model based on information from a group of experts. An example of constructing membership functions for a conditional linguistic variable is given. Calculating the eigenvector of a matrix of pairwise comparisons significantly increases the complexity of using a mathematical model. Therefore, we propose to use consistent pairwise comparisons. Despite the fact that in mathematical packages the construction of membership functions is automated, the primary choice of form and characteristics should be carried out by calculation methods considered in the work.

The problem of development of the method of identification of complications arising in the process of drilling of oil and gas wells, which operates under the conditions of a priori and current uncertainty under the influence of various perturbations based on methods of fuzzy set theory and fuzzy logic, is considered. A methodological approach to the estimation of the level of complications in the drilling of oil and gas wells, based on the principles of linguistic parameters of the drilling process, linguistic and hierarchical knowledge about the complications in the drilling of wells is proposed. Mathematical models of a controlled object have been developed that, unlike deterministic mathematical models, allow to describe in natural language the cause and effect relationships between the parameters of the drilling process and the possible complication. These models reflect the logic of the operator's reasoning with the involvement of non-numerical and fuzzy information from an expert to formalize Fuzzy Logic decision-making procedures using the parameters and indicators of the oil and gas drilling process. The structure of the decision support system for controlling the drilling of wells in the conditions of complications is proposed. The results of simulation modeling of the developed methods of modeling of complications based on the methods of fuzzy set theory and fuzzy logic are presented. Their advantages over the well-known in accuracy of the tasks of identification of an estimation and control in the conditions of uncertainty concerning structure and parameters of object are shown. The real complications have been identified, the elimination of which will increase the level of safety of the drilling process. It is shown that the developed methods and models can find application for modeling and identification of a wide class of complications on drilling rigs operating under the conditions of a priori and current uncertainty regarding their structure, parameters and geographic environment.

(1) Presented models are proposed for analyzing the resilience of an economic system in a framework of a 4 × 6 matrix, the core of which is a balanced scorecard (BSC). Matrix rows present strategic perspectives, matrix columns present strategic maps. (2) Resilience assessment models are based on fuzzy logic and soft computing, combined with systemic-cybernetic approaches to building presented models. The simplest models are Zadeh linguistic variables that describe key performance indicators (KPIs). The BSC model is an acyclic graph with fuzzy links that are calibrated based on special rules. The information obtained during the simulation is aggregated through a matrix aggregate calculator (MAC). (3) The BSC model was used to assess the economic resilience of a small electrical enterprise in Russia, numbering 2000 people with revenue of approximately 100 million euros per year. The BSC model included about 70 KPIs and 200 fuzzy links. Also, the presented MAC model was applied to obtain linguistic classifiers in five basic industries, using the example of a comparative analysis of 82 international industrial companies. (4) The proposed models allow not only to describe the economic system and its external environment, but also solutions aimed at increasing resilience, within the unified framework.

Accurate pavement performance estimation is very important for the managing and maintaining of surface transportation infrastructure. In the present study, a new model for the prediction of present and future performance of flexible pavements is developed using the fuzzy logic approach. The database of the model is able to use numerical measurements and also linguistic statements. Many models developed in the literature neglect the parameters that have little bearing on performance. However, it is a well known fact that these parameters do have an effect on performance to some degree. Different parameters were considered in the model as accepted by the authorities, and as having little bearing on performance. For each parameter, a certain weight was appointed, and the parameters that affected performance were assigned greater weights while the others were assigned smaller weights. As a result, the current model in the fuzzy logic approach is more flexible than the current Pavement Serviceability Index (PSI) and Pavement Condition Index (PCI) models. The model is different from previous fuzzy logic based models. Two stages of the fuzzy logic approach were used in these models. Since this new methodology does not need any mechanical tests, the model can be adopted by the Pavement Management System (PMS) of developing countries.

The author examines, using the example of a concept-proposition, multiple manifestations of the connection between a mental unit and units of a language system, argues that the principle of structuring knowledge, characteristic of a proposition, is found in the semantic structure of a sentence, a word-formation nest, in the logic of lexical metonymy, in the logic of transferring definitions, as well as in the ability of a noun to represent knowledge of a propositional nature in speech, concludes that there is a deep commonality of mental and linguistic activity. The semantic structure of the sentence and the structure of the syntactic proposition are isomorphic to the structure of the mental proposition. The vectors of the transfer of the definition from one term of the sentence to another, as well as to the designation of the entire situation, often have propositional logic and are closed by the framework of one sentence. Propositional logic is observed in many word-building nests, especially consistent with the structure of nests organized by a polyactant verb. Among the verbal derivatives in the nest, the percentage of lexemes that name the components of the corresponding situation is significant, in some cases - all the main components of the situation. At the lexico-semantic level, the projection of a proposition on the phenomenon of metonymy is described. Among the models of transference, a variety is highlighted, called propositional metonymy. It includes transfers of the name, the vectors of which (shift of the focus of attention) reflect the structure of the proposition. Another manifestation of the connection between a proposition and linguistic units, considered in the article, is the facts of using a single noun in speech of any lexical and grammatical semantics to represent all situations of any structural complexity. The realized perspective of the research (from the mental unit to linguistic units and processes that reveal with it a certain isomorphism in the logic of categorization and conceptualization of knowledge) allows us to reveal an important line of interaction between the mental and linguistic levels.

The language of art could not be studied by a simple transposition of linguistic models, as Jakobson and certain structuralists still insisted. Parallel with concept of intertextuality, Lotman elaborated a notion of art as a „secondary modeling system”. Based on natural language, art is evertheless of another, „superstructural” order: it redistributes the primary logic of language according to new logical rules, conferring on humanity new mental (or, as one would say today, new cognitive) possibilities, different principles of logic for the reconstruction of the self and the world. The aim of the article is to show relevant relationships between aesthetics and advertising.

The potential field method primarily deals with the repulsive forces surrounding obstacles, while fuzzy control logic focuses on fuzzy rules that handle linguistic variables and describe the knowledge of experts. The design of a fuzzy controller—advanced fuzzy potential field method (AFPFM)—that models and enhances the conventional potential field method is proposed and discussed. This study also examines the rule-explosion problem of conventional fuzzy logic and assesses the performance of our proposed AFPFM through simulations carried out using a mobile robot.

Decision makers usually prefer to express their preferences by linguistic variables. Classic fuzzy sets allowed expressing these preferences using a single linguistic value. Considering inevitable hesitancy of decision makers, hesitant fuzzy linguistic term sets allowed them to express individual evaluation using several linguistic values. Therefore, these sets improve the ability of humans to determine believes using their own language. Considering this feature, in this paper a method upon linear assignment method is proposed to solve group decision making problems using this kind of information, when criteria weights are known or unknown. The performance of the proposed method is illustrated in a numerical example and the results are compared with other methods to delineate the models efficiency. Following a logical and well-known mathematical logic along with simplicity of execution are the main advantages of the proposed method.

Route choice plays a vital role in the traffic assignment and network building, as it involves decision making on part of riders. The vagueness in travellers’ perceptions of attributes of the available routes between any two locations adds to the complexities in modelling the route choice behaviour. Conventional Logit models fail to address the uncertainty in travellers’ perceptions of route characteristics (especially qualitative attributes, such as environmental effects), which can be better addressed through the theory of fuzzy sets and linguistic variables. This study thus attempts to model travellers’ route choice behaviour, using a fuzzy logic approach that is based on simple and logical ‘if-then’ linguistic rules. This approach takes into consideration the uncertainty in travellers’ perceptions of route characteristics, resembling humans’ decision-making process. Three attributes – travel time, traffic congestion, and road-side environment are adopted as factors driving people’s choice of routes, and three alternative routes between two typical locations in an Indian metropolitan city, Surat, are considered in the study. The approach to deal with multiple routes is shown by analyzing two-wheeler riders’ (e.g. motorcyclists’ and scooter drivers’) route choice behaviour during the peak-traffic time. Further, a Multinomial Logit (MNL) model is estimated, to enable a comparison of the two modelling approaches. The estimated Fuzzy Rule-Based Route Choice Model outperformed the conventional MNL model, accounting for the uncertain behaviour of travellers.

Drawing on Deleuze's early works of the 1960s, this article investigates the ways in which Deleuze challenges our traditional linguistic notion of sense and notion of truth. Using Frege's account of sense and truth, this article presents our common understanding of sense and truth as two separate dimensions of the proposition where sense subsists only in a formal relation to the other. It then goes on to examine the Kantian account, which makes sense the superior transcendental condition of possibility of truth. Although both accounts define sense as merely the form of possibility of truth, a huge divide cuts across a simple formal logic of sense and a transcendental logic: transcendental logic discovered a certain genetic productivity of sense, such that a proposition always has the kind of truth that it merits according to its sense. In pursuit of this genetic productivity of sense, Deleuze applies different models of explanation: a Nietzschean genealogical model of the genetic power of sense, and in The Logic of Sense a structural model combined with elements of Stoic philosophy. This article follows Deleuze in setting up a new and very complex notion of sense, which he radically distinguishes from what he terms ‘signification’, that is, an extrinsic, linguistic or logical, condition of possibility. Rather, sense has to be conceived as both the effect and the intrinsic genetic element of an extra-propositional sense-producing machine.

This paper has implemented nonlinear control strategy for the single tilt tri-rotor aerial robot. Based on Newton-Euler’s laws, the linear and nonlinear mathematical models of tri-rotor UAVs are obtained. A numerical analysis using Newton-Raphson method is chosen for finding hovering equilibrium point. Back-stepping nonlinear controller design is based on constructing Lyapunov candidate function for closed-loop system. By imitating the linguistic logic of human thought, fuzzy logic controllers (FLCs) are designed based on control rules and membership functions, which are much less rigid than the calculations computers generally perform. Effectiveness of the controllers design scheme is shown through nonlinear simulation model on each channel.

Fuzzy logic controller is one of the most prominent research fields to improve efficiency for process industries, which usually stick to the conventional proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control. The paper proposes an improved version of the three-term PID-like fuzzy logic controller by removing the necessity of having user-defined parameters in place for the algorithm to work. The resulting non-parametric three-term dissimilarity-based clustering fuzzy logic controller algorithm was shown to be very efficient and fast. The performance study was conducted by simulation on armature-controlled and field-controller DC motors, for linguistic type and Takagi-Sugeno-Kang (TSK) models. Comparison of the created algorithm with fuzzy c-means algorithm resulted in improved accuracy, increased speed and enhanced robustness, with an especially high increase for the TSK type model.

Urban population in India has increased significantly from 62 million in 1951 to 378 million in 2011 in six decades. It is estimated to reach 540 million by the year 2021. This reflects on likely pressure on urban transportation system. The situation necessarily calls plans for balanced personal and public transport system. Mandatory trips bear more importance in this regard owing to their higher share in urban trips. Mode share and their choice behaviour in estimation of such trips play vital role in analysing and boosting sustainable transportation. Logit modelling approach is the conventional method generally adopted for analysing mode choice behaviour, which is based on the principle of random utility maximization derived from econometric theory. However, such models cannot address uncertainity prevailing in the choice decisions. On the contrary, fuzzy logic bypasses the binary crisp derivations of the inputs and accepts multivalued inputs in linguistic expressions, which make possible to resemble the human behaviour closely. Therefore, the attempt here is to develop fuzzy logic based mode choice model for education trips, which constitutes a good share in mandatory trips by covering various income groups of Indian society.

The decision-making process on investing in financial markets is a very complex and difficult task, mainly due to the chaotic behavior and high uncertainty in the development of the prices of investment instruments. For this reason, financial markets are increasingly using means of artificial intelligence, namely fuzzy logic, which is able to capture the nonlinear behavior.Fuzzy logic provides a way to draw definitive conclusions from vague, ambiguous, or inaccurate information.However, there are some drawbacks associated with type-1 fuzzy logic, so the type-2 fuzzy logic comes forward, which can work with greater uncertainty. Type-2 fuzzy logic works with a new third dimension fuzzy set that provides additional degrees of freedom and allows to model and process numerical and linguistic uncertainties directly. The paper applies type-2 fuzzy logic to the stock market with the aim to create a simple and understandable model for deciding on investing in investment instruments, which is important for investors in this area. The proposed type-2 fuzzy model uses return, risk, dividend and total expense ratio of ETF as input variables. The created system is able to generate aggregated models from a certain number of language rules, which allows the investor to understand the created financial model. Using type-2 fuzzy logic can lead to more realistic and accurate results than type-1 fuzzy logic.

The purpose of this study is a rule-based fuzzy logic approach is proposed for determining model difficulty in manufacturing top clothing for ladies. A decision framework concerned with different scenarios (main pattern types and material types) is proposed for determining the model difficulty. Each scenario modeled as a Mamdani type fuzzy inference system which is known as one of the best approximator fuzzy logic models. The fuzzified input variables are unit operation time, second quality rate and fabric weight. Moreover, two different defuzzification methods which are centroid and middle of maxima are compared for finding best fuzzy logic structure over the six different test instances. According to the results, both deffuzzification methods find similar model difficulty determinations. A graphical user interface of the proposed decision framework is designed in order to apply this to real-life applications. Finally, six different clothing models are identified to be simple, medium-hard, hard and very hard. The results of this study showed that defuzzification methods is not significantly effected the model difficulty decisions off is systems regarding different test instances. The model difficulty values range between 0-10. In order to find a useful difficulty assignment (linguistic), the model difficulty is determined by using the closeness to center value (a2) of membership functions. This research offers a solution to determine the difficulty levels of the garment models.

The title of the volume reflects one of the main points of the book: that “stories both have a logic and are logic in their own right” (p. 22) because they constitute a powerful instrument for understanding the world. The more general objective of the analyses presented in the volume is to work toward a cognitive approach to narrative in which narrative understanding is explained as a process of creating and updating mental models of particular storyworlds. Thus, Herman looks at language theory and narrative theory as theoretical frames that not only can enrich each other, but that also constitute a resource for cognitive science in general.

The current state of construction and design of an apartment building in terms of comfort does not cover all the necessary aspects for the residence of future residents. Quantitative criteria are usually used, an excessive number of which, unfortunately, cannot improve the substance of the case between all the actors involved. This paper discusses the method of fuzzy description of uncertainty to assess the comfort of an apartment building using software products to find results over fuzzy values. A comparative analysis of quantitative and qualitative indicators of comfort, which are determined in conditions of uncertainty, which makes it difficult to make the optimal decision. Therefore, when evaluating all the influencing factors that affect the comfort of housing, it is proposed to apply fuzzy logic and choose a function that at certain input parameters corresponds to the representation of formalized terms in the study of membership functions. The theory of fuzzy logic makes it possible to reflect various methods of constructing fuzzy sets for the needs of the subject research described below. Fuzzy set theory is used to describe the comfort of an apartment building by calculating fuzzy numbers. Subjective logic is also a non-additive theory of uncertainty, namely its theory of possibilities, as well as a universal tool for modeling, on the basis of which the subject research is built. In addition, fuzzy sets have strong logical foundations in multitasking logic. The application of this fuzzy set to this topic has influenced the multi-criteria assessment of the quality of comfort of a high-rise building, and also helped to bring optimization methods to the needs of users. Therefore, a fuzzy set can take on any meaning of a linguistic variable, which includes certain terms to describe the comfort of a residential apartment.

The interpretation of the ZF set theory reported in this paper is, actually, part of a wider effort, namely, a new approach to the foundation of mathematics, which is referred to as The Cybernetic Foundation. A detailed exposition of the Cybernetic Foundation will be published elsewhere. Our approach leads to a full acceptance of the formalism of the classical set theory, but interprets it using only the idea of potential, but not actual (completed) infinity, and dealing only with finite objects that can actually be constructed. Thus we have a finitist proof of the consistency of ZF. This becomes possible because we set forth a metatheory of mathematics which goes beyond the classical logic and set theory and, of course, cannot be formalized in ZF, yet yields proofs which are as convincing—at least, from the author's viewpoint—as any mathematical proof can be.Our metatheory is based on the following two ideas. Firstly, we define the semantics of the mathematical language using the cybernetical concept of knowledge. According to this concept, to say that a cybernetic system (a human being, in particular) has some knowledge is to say that it has some models of reality. In the Cybernetic Foundation we consider mathematics as the art of constructing linguistic models of reality.

The neural network designer must take into consideration many factors when selecting an appropriate network configuration. The performance of a given network configuration is influenced by many different factors such as: accuracy, training time, sensitivity, and the number of neurons used in the implementation. Using a cost function based on the four criteria mentioned previously, the various network paradigms can be evaluated relative to one another. If the mathematical models of the evaluation criteria as functions of the network configuration are known, then traditional techniques (such as the steepest descent method) could be used to determine the optimal network configuration. The difficulty in selecting an appropriate network configuration is due to the difficulty involved in determining the mathematical models of the evaluation criteria. This difficulty can be avoided by using fuzzy logic techniques to perform the network optimization as opposed to the traditional techniques. Fuzzy logic avoids the need of a detailed mathematical description of the relationship between the network performance and the network configuration, by using heuristic reasoning and linguistic variables. A comparison will be made between the fuzzy logic approach and the steepest descent method for the optimization of the cost function. The fuzzy optimization procedure could be applied to other systems where there is a priori information about their characteristics.

Existing inventory lot-sizing models assume certain demand and sufficient supply, which are not practical for industry. Dynamic inventory models can serve uncertain demand, but supply is assumed to be available. However, in the real world situation, supply is not always offered. So, the method that can deal with both uncertain demand and supply should be developed. Fuzzy logic control is now being the effective methodology in many applications under uncertainty. Therefore, a fuzzy logic approach for solving the problem of inventory control under uncertainty was proposed for a case study factory. In the proposed Fuzzy Inventory System (FIS), both demand and availability of supply are described by linguistic terms. Then, the developed fuzzy rules are used to extract the fuzzy order quantity and the fuzzy reorder point continuously. The order quantity and reorder point are both adjusted according to the FIS system. In this research, the suitable ranges for the inputs of the FIS model are justified for the case study factory. Moreover, the effect of trend demands for both increase and decrease are also analyzed with the proposed range. Inventory costs of the proposed fuzzy inventory system are compared with the existing model based on historical data of the case study factory. It found that the proposed range can obtain lower cost than the previous research FIS lot-sizing model, which is better than conventional approaches.

Introduction. The paper continues a series of publications on linguistics of relations (hereinafter R–linguistics) and is devoted to questions of the formation of a language from a linguistic model of the world. Moreover, the language is considered in its most general form, without taking into account the grammatical component. This allows you to focus on the general problems of language formation. Namely, this allows us to show why language adequately reflects the model of the world and what are the features of the transition from model to language. This new approach to language is relevant in connection with the formation of an understanding of the common core in all natural languages, as well as in connection with the needs for the formation of artificial intelligence subsystems of interaction with humans.Methodology and sources. Research methods consist in the formulation and proof of theorems about language spaces and their properties. The materials of the paper and the given proofs are based on the previously stated ideas about linguistic spaces and their decompositions into signs.Results and discussion. The paper shows how, in the most general form, the formation of language structures takes place. Namely, why does language adequately reflect the linguistic model, and what is the difference between linguistic and language spaces? The concepts of an open and closed form of the language are formulated, as well as the law of form. Examples of open and closed forms of the language are shown. It is shown that the formation of the language allows you to compensate for the lack of real signs in the surrounding world while maintaining the prognostic properties of the model.Conclusion. Any natural language is a reflection of the human world model. Moreover, all natural languages are similar in terms of the principles of forming the core of the language (language space). Language spaces standardize the models of the world by equalizing real and fictional signs of categories. In addition, the transition to language simplifies some of the problems of pattern recognition and opens the way to the logic of natural language.

Non-parallel text style transfer has attracted increasing research interests in recent years. Despite successes in transferring the style based on the encoder-decoder framework, current approaches still lack the ability to preserve the content and even logic of original sentences, mainly due to the large unconstrained model space or too simplified assumptions on latent embedding space. Since language itself is an intelligent product of humans with certain grammars and has a limited rule-based model space by its nature, relieving this problem requires reconciling the model capacity of deep neural networks with the intrinsic model constraints from human linguistic rules. To this end, we propose a method called Graph Transformer–based Auto-Encoder, which models a sentence as a linguistic graph and performs feature extraction and style transfer at the graph level, to maximally retain the content and the linguistic structure of original sentences. Quantitative experiment results on three non-parallel text style transfer tasks show that our model outperforms state-of-the-art methods in content preservation, while achieving comparable performance on transfer accuracy and sentence naturalness.

World experience shows that intelligent information systems for decision support are an integral part of modern society functioning. The basis of many tasks that lies in the development of decision support systems is the presentation of knowledge of a particular subject field. Each decision-support system, depending on the application field, has its own characteristics that characterize the main objectives of this subject area, among which, for example, the presentation of knowledge of multi-level administration systems for decision support purposes. In modern conditions, mathematical modeling is the most effective for the formal representation of knowledge in decision support systems which can be used to represent declarative knowledge of land relations. Therefore, urgent scientific practical problem is relevant now that lies in the representing contradictory knowledge in multilevel administration systems. The scientific and practical task envisages the transformation of declarative knowledge of the subject field in the form of mathematical and informational models using elements of set theory. The task envisages the transformation of declarative knowledge in the form of mathematical models with using set theory. The research used methods: analysis, set theory, mathematical modeling, corpus linguistics, ontological engineering. The results of the study are important for organizing activities in a variety of industries using a large body of documents and laws. Methods for the development of fuzzy and linguistic models of technological objects, which are characterized by the fuzzy output parameters and linguistic values of the input and output parameters of the object are proposed. The hydrotreating unit of the catalytic reforming unit was investigated and described. On the basis of experimental and statistical data and fuzzy information from experts and using the proposed methods, mathematical models of a hydrotreating reactor and a hydrotreating furnace were developed. To determine the volume of production from the outlet of the reactor and furnace, nonlinear regression models were built, and fuzzy models were developed in the form of fuzzy regression equations to determine the quality indicators of the hydrotreating unit—the hydrogenated product. To identify the structure of the models, the ideas of sequential inclusion regressors are used, and for parametric identification, a modified method of least squares is used, adapted to work in a fuzzy environment. To determine the optimal temperature of the hydrotreating process on the basis of expert information and logical rules of conditional conclusions, rule bases are built. The constructed rule bases for determining the optimal temperature of the hydrotreating process depending on the thermal stability of the feedstock and the pressure in the hydrotreating furnace are implemented using the Fuzzy Logic Toolbox application of the MatLab package. Comparison results of data obtained with the known models, developed models and real, experimental data from the hydrotreating unit of the reforming unit are presented and the effectiveness of the proposed approach to modeling is shown.

Abstract Classical discrete mathematics could not model complex and uncertain systems effectively. These discrete mathematical equations can be replaced by a method of fuzzy logic systems wherein the operational laws are expressed in linguistic terms. Fuzzy logic means it is the form of knowledge acquisition to be suitable for notions that cannot be defined as precisely as discrete mathematics would do. But it depends upon their context, knowledge acquisition to enable the computerized devices to think like humans. The Matlab was employed to develop the operation model of the Vaigai reservoir which is in South India. Fuzzy logic control was successfully found to be a logical way for mapping between input and output variables of the operation of a reservoir. The objective of the study was to capture the experience gained over past years of operation of the Vaigai system so that the experiential knowledge was made available to the operator for assisting him inefficient management of the reservoir. The data mining helped to develop an improved database for heuristic models such as the non-crisp model for deriving an effective monthly operational policy for Vaigai reservoir.

Theorists have oversold the usefulness of predicate logic and generative grammar to the study of language origins. They have searched for models that correspond to semantic properties, such as truth, when what is needed is an empirically testable model of evolution. Such a model is required if we are to explain the origins of linguistic properties by appealing to general properties of linguistic engendering, rather than to the advent of genotypes with the propensity to produce certain brain mechanisms. While the latter sort of explanation has a place, no theory can be considered an ‘evolutionary’ theory without the former. We introduce a general notion of engendering, whose primary virtue is its freedom from assumptions regarding the nature of colloquial change. We use it to frame a conjecture about the evolution of centre embedded clauses; one which makes the fewest possible assumptions about the neural requirements upon individual brains. This article discusses the application of methods to enhance the knowledge of experts to build a decision-making model based on the processing of physical data on the real state of the environment. Environmental parameters determine its ecological state. To carry out research in the field of expert assessment of environmental conditions, the analysis of known works in this field is carried out. The results of the analysis made it possible to justify the relevance of the application of analytical, stochastic models and models based on methods of enhancing the knowledge of experts — experts. It is concluded that the results of using analytical and stochastic objects are inaccurate, due to the complexity and poor mathematical description of the objects. The relevance of developing information support for an expert assessment of environmental conditions is substantiated. The difference of this article is that based on the analysis of the application of expert methods for assessing the state of the environment, a fuzzy logic adoption model and information support for assessing the environmental state of the environment are proposed. The formalization of the parameters of decision-making models using linguistic and fuzzy variables is considered. The use of information support for environment state assessment is shown on the example of experts assessing of the land desertification stage.

Over the past 20 years, scholars have expanded upon subsistence-driven models of indigenous labor and exchange by tracing out the dynamic social, economic, and political systems created by Native people. While current research has highlighted indigenous agency, especially in response to Western colonialism, these approaches have largely ignored the cultural and linguistic meanings behind key economic concepts. Through a case study of the Comanche, this article develops a culturally grounded approach to nomadic economics. The Comanche offer a compelling case for indigenous empire building, a case which points to the need to develop a revised understanding of imperialism. Drawing on documentary and archaeological evidence, this article traces the logic and logistics of Comanche imperialism in New Mexico. Specifically, I argue that during the 18th and early 19th centuries, Comanche people created a nomadic empire rooted in decentralized political power, kinship, and inter- and intra-ethnic exchange. This case study provides a glimpse into the priorities and practices of Comanche entrepreneurs and points to the important role of internal social dynamics in structuring indigenous forms of imperialism.

We investigate the development of pre-time signal intersection operating systems for isolated intersections using Fuzzy Logic models. The traffic signal system setting in Indonesia has been using the Indonesia Road Capacity Manual model 1997, for example it is installed at the intersection in large cities in Indonesia. The development of the Fuzzy Logic model is focused on improving the performance of the signaled intersection, using a combination of numerical variable analysis used by IRCM 1997, and the linguistic or traffic behavior variable as the basis of the Fuzzy Logic model study. The combination of the two variables in the Fuzzy Logic model analysis is expected to improve the intersection performance. The Fuzzy Logic model process involves the Membership Function theory as the basis for the confidence level of the traffic variable to be surveyed, and the Fuzzy Inference Engine to measure the choice of combinations of variables that will be selected to make the best performance of the intersection. The geometric of intersection must be control as it involves the input of research data, especially on the condition of the intersection legs and markers of motor cycle-special stopping places, which is a potential of a traffic violation by traveller. The model is verified with fuzzified data from 2017 traffic research survey in Bandung. As an illustration of the majority of intersection setting with an isolated pre-time operating system, there are 60 intersection points or 85% of the total 71 intersections available. This would be a potentially major problem when performance improvements is not carried out. The final analysis shows that the number of vehicles queues decreases while the traffic flows passing through the intersection increases, therefore fuzzy logic model is expected to contribute and to give alternative handling for intersection performance with pre-time operational.

The monitoring utilization and workloads of computer hardware components, such as CPU, RAM, bus, and storage, are an ideal way to evaluate the effectiveness of these components. In this paper, we surveyed the basic concepts, characteristics, and parameters of computer systems that determine system performance, and the types of models that provide adequate modeling of these systems. We investigated and developed the applied aspects of the theory of fuzzy sets’ principles and the Matlab environment tools for monitoring and evaluating the state of computing systems. The idea of the paper is to identify the state of the computer infrastructure by using the models of Mamdani and Sugeno FIS (fuzzy inference system) to evaluate the impact of RAM and storage on CPU performance. With this approach, we observed the behavior of computer infrastructure. The results are useful for understanding performance issues with regard to specific bottlenecks and determining the correlation of performance counters. Moreover, the model presents linguistic results. Hereafter, performance counter correlations will support the development of algorithms that can detect whether the performance of a given computer will be affected by a reasonable priority. The performance assertions derived from these approaches allow resource management policies to prevent performance degradation, and as a result, the infrastructure will be able to serve safely as expected. These methods can be applied across the entire spectrum of computer systems, from personal computers to large mainframes and supercomputers, including both centralized and distributed systems. We look forward to their continued use, as well as their improvement when it is necessary to evaluate future systems.

The acquisition of competencies (knowledge and skills) necessary for a modern professional is impossible according to known models in the context of the formation of a new humanistic paradigm of higher education. The purpose of the study is to highlight the problems of introducing academic writing as an element of academic integrity and as a basic component of academic culture in a modern university, as well as to propose a model for the development of linguistic and extra-linguistic competences while working on the writing of scientific texts in English on the basis of the textbook “Introduction to academic writing” as a way of solving the above-mentioned problems. The article contains an analysis of the scientific fund for updating the methods and forms of organizing the educational process, which involves the acquisition of certain linguistic and extra-linguistic competences by the applicants for higher education. The prerequisites and possibilities for the development of such competences derive from the orientation of education towards the full development of the personality of the future specialist and the support of the principles of academic integrity, paying attention to the mastery of high-quality academic writing skills. It has been established in the study that academic writing is an element of academic culture and is a system in which language is a means of forming a multidimensional set of skills, including both linguistic (syntax, stylistic, etc.) and extralinguistic competences such as logic, objectivity, analysis and synthesis, respect for the ideas and texts of others. The study also identified the essence of the need to observe ethical standards in the institution of higher education and to learn how to formulate and prove one’s own hypotheses and conclusions, to structure the academic text according to the norms of the English language. The essence of the concepts of academic integrity, and academic writing as well as the concepts of linguistic and extra-linguistic competences is also defined. The study provided is supplemented by a structured teaching manual which was developed taking into account the experience of authors of foreign linguistic literature, where among the skills and abilities required by the English-speaking academic environment, the competence to effectively use the various methods of writing essays, describing graphic information, writing scientific article and thesis is indicated. It is noted in the article that the mentioned skills and abilities are within the most challenging area for applicants and require an approach to learning in which written competence is a key one and the overall learning process is based on the active use of written speech.

An integrated route assessment approach based on cloud model is proposed in this paper, where various sources of uncertainties are well kept and modeled by cloud theory. Firstly, a systemic criteria framework incorporating models for scoring subcriteria is developed. Then, the cloud model is introduced to represent linguistic variables, and survivability probability histogram of each route is converted into normal clouds by cloud transformation, enabling both randomness and fuzziness in the assessment environment to be managed simultaneously. Finally, a new way to measure the similarity between two normal clouds satisfying reflexivity, symmetry, transitivity, and overlapping is proposed. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed route assessment approach outperforms fuzzy logic based assessment approach with regard to feasibility, reliability, and consistency with human thinking.

The subject of the science of law constitutes the category of changing mental, linguistic and conceptual forms of its existence and expression. The development of the science of law is subject to the cultural and historical logic of evolution both as a phenomenon of law and the language of reasoning regarding law. The evolution of the phenomenon of law and the evolution of the science of law take place in a complex and dynamic environment of institutional and conceptual changes and mutual influences. Legal reality as a social fact and the concept of the fact exists within the cultural and historical boundaries of the interaction between the language of legal practice and the language of legal theory.Understanding of legal reality as a linguistic reality (phenomenon) requires the development of mental models (epistems) that allow us to identify the most significant aspects of manifestations of legal reality in a variety of socio-cultural contexts of its linguistic — institutional (practical) and conceptual (theoretical) — expression. The current agenda covers the formation of the general body of the theory of jurisprudence per se, or jurisprudence of the judiciary. Its analytical basis forms theoretical history of the legal science presented in various cultural and historical forms and expressions of the legal knowledge.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the current state of the categories ―linguistic identity‖ and ―national archetype‖ in correlation with the socio-cultural environment. The national and cultural values of any ethno psychological group are reflected in the language serving a real-life community of people. National archetypes are the semiotic basis of linguistic identity, which is formed within a certain socio-cultural context, an inalienable instance of the psychophysical structure of a person. It is argued that the essential characteristics of the national linguistic identity can be detected already at the level of identifying the semantic features of the language units of the utterance in discoursing. The next steps to reconstruct the linguistic personality are associated with modelling the logical-semantic structure of the utterance, due to the presence of ethnocultural traces at all levels of the subject's discourse behaviour. The discourse behaviour of an individual is the essence of his communicative activity and worldview. It was found that behavioural models, modal and nominative ways of reflecting reality are ethnoculturally determined not only by language, but also by immanent preferences in accordance with the logic, semantics and pragmatics of the communicative act. It is suggested that the verbalization of Russian identity (the magic of Russian vocabulary) is preferably carried out within the framework of contact strategies (direct means of expressing thoughts) and in correlation with the values of the national community, and the intellectual parameters of the French language are implemented in line with distant communication strategies (indirect means expressions of thought) and the priority of individual values. Prospects for the application of the method of reconstructing new knowledge in the mainstream of identifying the dominant features of a national linguistic personality in languages of different structures are outlined.
