We present a brief review of the combined pairing mechanism mediated by phonons and lochons (local charged bosons) for the high temperature superconducting materials (mainly cuprates). The phonon contribution (λ p ) being weak, the lochon part (λl) dominates to give higher critical temperatures (T c ). The combined mechanism along with the variation of λl with carrier concentration (x c ) gives the right variation of T c and the oxygen isotope exponent on doping. The superconducting gap Δ(0) at T = 0, its ratio with T c , the condensation energy, gap anisotropy, pseudogap, etc. are also discussed. With reasonable agreement with available experimental data, the combined mechanism emerges as a strong contender for an acceptable model for oxide superconducting materials.

Objective: We hypothesized that subcutaneous tunnelling will be more efficacious in preventing epidural catheter migration in the postoperative period. To compare three different fixation techniques for migration of epidural catheter in the postoperative period. Methods: Patients undergoing elective surgery with planned postoperative analgesia with lumbar epidural were included. They were divided into 3 groups based on catheter fixation – Group I: transparent adhesive dressing tape, Group II: fixator device (Locklt Plus® ) and Group III: catheter subcutaneously tunnelled vertically. The catheter mark was noted during insertion and on removal at the end of second day. The primary outcome measure was epidural catheter migration; the secondary outcome measures were complications and patient satisfaction scores. Results: Of the 170 patients recruited, 150 patients were included. The Likelihood Ratio (LR) of migration of group I in comparison to group II was 13.28 (p<0.001) while with group III was 7.06 (p=0.007). There was no significant difference between groups II and III (LR 1.12, p=0.29). The satisfaction scores were comparable among Groups II and III. There was no difference in complications among groups. Conclusion: Epidural migration is significantly reduced by both tunnelling and Lockit plus® methods in comparison to a transparent adhesive dressing in patients on continuous lumbar epidural analgesia in the first two postoperative days. The subcutaneous tunnelling method is as safe in terms of migration as the LockIt plus® method of fixation. This paper proposes a novel peer-to-peer communication framework to implement geographical location oriented networks, called G-LocON. Location-based services have been gaining in popularity, as proven by ridesharing and mobile games. Although these services have to construct geolocation oriented networks based on their users’ geographical locations, they completely rely on client/server models to communicate with neighboring terminals. G-LocON provides geolocation oriented device-to-device communication only with the current wireless technologies, such as LTE and Wi-Fi, cooperating with the global positioning system and peer-to-peer overlay networking. G-LocON will serve as a type of a mobile ad-hoc network in which devices located within the focusing area are capable of communicating directly. We developed a primitive Android application to implement the GLocON framework. Evaluation of the solution’s performance has verified the usefulness of the proposed system that offers an admissive transmission delay. Moreover, to confirm the application-related potential of the G-LocON framework, we also show a practical map software in which all neighboring mobile devices present in the focusing area are displayed.

The conventional standard for object detection uses a bounding box to represent each individual object instance. However, it is not practical in the industry-relevant applications in the context of warehouses due to severe occlusions among groups of instances of the same categories. In this paper, we propose a new task, i.e., simultaneously object localization and counting, abbreviated as Locount, which requires algorithms to localize groups of objects of interest with the number of instances. However, there does not exist a dataset or benchmark designed for such a task. To this end, we collect a large-scale object localization and counting dataset with rich annotations in retail stores, which consists of 50,394 images with more than 1.9 million object instances in 140 categories. Together with this dataset, we provide a new evaluation protocol and divide the training and testing subsets to fairly evaluate the performance of algorithms for Locount, developing a new benchmark for the Locount task. Moreover, we present a cascaded localization and counting network as a strong baseline, which gradually classifies and regresses the bounding boxes of objects with the predicted numbers of instances enclosed in the bounding boxes, trained in an end-to-end manner. Extensive experiments are conducted on the proposed dataset to demonstrate its significance and the analysis is provided to indicate future directions. AbstractIn this study, the anti-loosening characteristics of a precision flank-locking locknut fabricated under various machining processes and tested in different dynamic environments were investigated. The control parameters considered include the tightening torque and thread pitch of the set screw, machining process on the end plane of locknut, and vibration amplitude and frequency of dynamic loading in service, etc. Their sensitivities on the axial force ratio and anti-loosening ratio of the locknut were evaluated using Taguchi method. It was found that the pretension of locknut, the tightening torque and the pitch of set screw, and the machining process of the nut's end plane were the significant control parameters for the anti-loosening performance of the locknut. Moreover, the results of experimental measurements were employed in the regression fit on the performance of the locknut. The regression model was able to predict the anti-loosening ratio with 4.42% average error comparing with the measurements. Furthermore, the optimized design of the locknut through the Taguchi method was able to increase the axial force ratio and anti-loosening ratio by 20.4% and 16.8%, respectively, comparing with standard locknut.

Purpose – The analysis of the optimal production and preventive maintenance with lockout/tagout planning problem for a manufacturing system is presented in this paper. The considered manufacturing system consists of two non-identical machines in passive redundancy producing one type of part. These machines are subject to random breakdowns and repairs. The purpose of this paper is to minimize production, inventory, backlog and maintenance costs over an infinite planning horizon; in addition, it aims to verify the influence of human reliability on the inventory levels for illustrating the importance of human error during the maintenance and lockout/tagout activities. Design/methodology/approach – This paper is different compared to other research projects on preventive maintenance and lockout/tagout. The influence of human error on lockout/tagout as well as on preventive maintenance activities are presented in this paper. The preventive maintenance policy depends on the machine age. For the considered manufacturing system the optimality conditions are provided, and numerical methods are used to obtain machine age-dependent optimal control policies (production and preventive maintenance rates with lockout/tagout). Numerical examples and sensitivity analysis are presented to illustrate the usefulness of the proposed approach. The system capacity is described by a finite-state Markov chain. Findings – The proposed model taking into account the preventive maintenance activities with lockout/tagout and human error jointly, instead of taking into account separately. It verifies the influence of human error during preventive maintenance and lockout/tagout activities on the optimal safety stock levels using an extension of the hedging point structure. Practical implications – The model proposed in this paper might be extended to manufacturing systems, but a number of conditions must be met to make effective use of it. Originality/value – The originality of this paper is to consider the preventive maintenance activities with lockout/tagout and human error simultaneously. The control policy is obtained in order to find the solution for the considered manufacturing system. This paper also brings a new vision on the importance of human reliability during preventive maintenance and lockout/tagout activities.

Background After a total hip arthroplasty (THA), standing and walking balance are greatly affected in the early stages of recovery, so it is important to increase the weight-bearing amount (WBA) on the operated side. Sometimes, traditional treatments may not be enough to improve WBA and weight-bearing ratio (WBR) on the operated side in a satisfactory way. To solve this problem, we came up with a new weight-shifting-based robot control system called LOCOBOT. This system can control a spherical robot on a floor by changing the center of pressure (COP) on a force-sensing board in rehabilitation after THA. The goal of this study was to find out how rehabilitation with the LOCOBOT affects the WBR and balance in a static standing position in patients with unilateral hip osteoarthritis (OA) who had a primary uncemented THA. Methods This randomized controlled trial included 20 patients diagnosed with Kellgren–Lawrence (K–L) grade 3 or 4 hip OA on the operative side and K–L grade 0 normal hip on the nonoperative side. We used the minimization method for allocation and randomly assigned patients to either the LOCOBOT group or the control group. As a result, 10 patient seach were randomly assigned to the LOCOBOT and control groups. Both groups received 40 min of rehabilitation treatment. Out of the 40 min, the LOCOBOT group underwent treatment for 10 min with LOCOBOT. The control group performed COP-controlled exercises on a flat floor instead of using LOCOBOT for 10 of the 40 min. All theoutcome measures were performed pre-THA and 11.9 ± 1.6 days after THA (12 days after THA). The primary outcome measure included WBR in the static standing position. Results After12 days of THA, the LOCOBOT group exhibited significantly higher mean WBR and WBA (operated side) values than the control group. Furthermore, the LOCOBOT group exhibited significantly lower mean WBA (non-operated side) and outer diameter area (ODA) values than the control group. From pre-THA to 12 days after THA, the LOCOBOT group exhibited a significant improvement in mean WBR and WBA (operated side). Moreover, the mean WBA (non-operated side) and ODA significantly decreased. From pre-THA to 12 days after THA, the control group showed a significant increase in total trajectory length and ODA. Conclusions The most important finding of this study was that patients were able to perform the LOCOBOT exercise as early as the second day after THA, and that WBR and ODA significantly improved by the 12th day after THA. This result demonstrated that the LOCOBOT effectively improves WBR in a short period of time after THA and is a valuable system for enhancing balance ability. This expedites the acquisition of independence in activities of daily living after THA and may contribute to optimizing the effectiveness of medical care.

Light is an important environmental signal that governs plant growth, development, and metabolism. Constitutive photomorphogenic 1 (COP1) is a light signaling component that plays a vital role in plant light responses. We isolated the COP1 gene (LoCOP1) from the petals of Lilium ‘Siberia’ and investigated its function. The LoCOP1 protein was found to be the most similar to Apostasia shenzhenica COP1. LoCOP1 was found to be an important factor located in the nucleus and played a negative regulatory role in floral scent production and emission using the virus-induced gene silencing (VIGS) approach. The yeast two-hybrid, β-galactosidase, and bimolecular fluorescence complementation (BiFC) assays revealed that LoCOP1 interacts with LoMYB1 and LoMYB3. Furthermore, light modified both the subcellular distribution of LoCOP1 and its interactions with LoMYB1 and MYB3 in onion cells. The findings highlighted an important regulatory mechanism in the light signaling system that governs scent emission in Lilium ‘Siberia’ by the ubiquitination and degradation of transcription factors via the proteasome pathway.

Failure to apply lockout procedures for the control of hazardous energies is one of the main causes of machinery-related fatal and serious injuries in North America. The absence of audits of lockout or the lack of proper tools for auditing lockout is prevalent, and thus the application of lockout is often not fully in compliance with standards and regulations. A self-audit tool for the application of lockout procedures for machinery was developed on the basis of the current standards and regulations, and previous research. The tool was then tested for content validity through experts’ opinions and qualitative feedback from six organizations in the province of Quebec in Canada. The developed audit tool defines the actual procedures to audit, as well as the surrounding conditions that are needed and the prerequisites based on standards, regulations, and findings from previous research. The results showed that the tool displayed a high content validity index and demonstrated that the usability, applicability, and comprehensiveness of the tool were adequate. This self-audit tool helps organizations monitor the application of lockout on machinery for the safety of workers and to ensure that the actual practice of controlling hazardous energy is in compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

This study investigated the wear characteristics and anti-loosening characteristics of flank lock type precision locknut in the dynamic percussion vibration test. The experiment was conducted by using horizontal realistic dynamic percussion vibration test machine. The objective is to simulate the loosening condition of the locknut which was assembled in ball screw and machine tool spindle. Through this study, the wear resistance and anti-loosening characteristics of the precision locknut under the dynamic test were investigated by closely observing the roughness, flatness and tooth angle, seat surface and surface morphology before and after the test. The test results were used to calculate axial force ratio and anti-loosening ratio to understand the wear properties and anti-loosening properties of precision locknut under the dynamic conditions.

The article describes the structure of low voltage lockout over current protection system and working state of it.The simulation results indicate that the system can correctly reflect the working state of protection, and it is conducive to understand the working principle of low voltage lockout over current protection . So, the system has practical application value.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to analyze the 2011 National Basketball Association (NBA) lockout and collective bargaining agreement (CBA). Design/methodology/approach Using a bargaining game model, the authors show that asymmetric information via owner revenue shifting and financial non-disclosure caused the conflict between owners and players (growth of player salaries) to result in a lockout. Findings The bargaining game also demonstrates the lockout to be a rational response to asymmetric information: by restricting the growth of player salaries, owners improved their competitive position. Other factors motivating the lockout include the indirect benefit to the median owner of repressing player salaries (i.e. greater expected competitive balance) and a principal agency problem within the players’ union. The lockout concluded with a ten-year CBA, a mutual opt-out in 2017, and revenue sharing between 49 and 51 percent of basketball-related income. The league salvaged a shortened 2011-2012 season, but created an economic framework more favorable to owners. Originality/value This paper is novel in its analysis of the bargaining aspects of the current NBA collective bargaining agreement.

AbstractThe study attempted to observe the surface characteristics of the flank lock type precision locknut which was assembled in a vertical type and operates under different tightening speed. The speed setting was in according with the specifications of 4rpm, 6rpm and 8rpm conditions to set up this experiment. A type of 2TML lubricant was used. The experiment investigated the surface characteristics of a locknut, including contact surface flatness, contact surface roughness, and thread surface roughness before and after the designed test. According to the contact surface flatness of the locknut obtained from this study, it was found that the surface of the locknut contacting with the bearing resulted into a deterioration of the surface flatness and surface roughness during the tests. Furthermore, the thread surface roughness has been changed at different thread for different tightening speed during the test, especially at threads 1, 2, 7 and 8. The study found that some of variations occurred in the values of Ra, Rz and Rmax at different thread of a locknut. The variation of Rmax is the most among them.

ABSTRACTThe influence of combined corrosion and vibration to the anti-loosening performance of a precision locknut used in a machine tool is investigated. Firstly, the locknut was submerged in 5% NaCl solution according to ASTM B895 standard for corrosion testing. The locknuts, after submerged in 1-hr, 2-hr and 4-hr periods, respectively, were then installed on the rotating spindle in a vertical dynamic impact tester for performing anti-loosening test. The initial installed pretension was 9800 N and the spindle was rotating in a constant speed of 1000 rpm. Turmogrease Li 802 EP lubricant was used on the contact surface between spindle thread and locknut. The set screws on the locknut were tightened sequentially and evenly in three-stage of torque: 1.96 N-m, 3.92 N-m and 5.88 N-m. Its real-time pretension variation with the periodic transverse impact and its final loosening torque were measured. Accordingly, the axial force ratio and anti-loosening torque ratio were calculated and discussed. It was found that corrosion treatment had similar influence on both the axial force ratio and the anti-loosening torque ratio. More corrosion on the locknut with longer submersion in NaCl solution deteriorated its anti-loosening characteristics. The result could serve as the reference for evaluating the fastening performance of precision locknut and guide the design and manufacturing for the application improvement.

A randomized, double-blind, left-right study to compare the therapeutic efficacy and the cosmetic acceptability of the new hydrocortisone 17-butyrate (Locoid®) 0·1% fatty cream application form with desonide (Apolar®) 0·1% ointment was performed in thirty patients suffering from moderate to severe atopic dermatitis. The medications were applied to symmetrical, bilateral skin lesions twice daily for 4 weeks. Both treatments effected highly significant reductions of the score values for the severity of all clinical skin parameters assessed. Score reductions were, however, more pronounced on Locoid-treated sides than on Apolar-treated sides both after 2 and 4 weeks of therapy. It appeared further that clinical efficacy of treatment at completion of the study was also in favour of Locoid-treated sides, indicating that Locoid fatty cream is more effective than Apolar ointment. No serious side-effects were reported during the study. The expressed patient preferences with respect to cosmetic acceptability of treatments were significantly in favour of Locoid fatty cream, indicating that patients preferred the use of this new galenic formulation over an ointment formulation. It is concluded that the new application form of Locoid, a fatty cream, is a useful and beneficial addition to topical corticosteroid therapy, which will promote patient compliance in a wide range of corticosteroid-responsive skin diseases.

Abstract It is important to assess firms’ financial health in the harsh construction market of developing countries. This study seeks to achieve this by assessing locally owned construction firms’ (LOCOFs) financial performance through evaluating firms’ bill of quantities (BOQ) contract sums and bid unit rates of common building items. Accessible 60 BOQ of the 79 BOQ of building projects awarded to various LOCOFs from 2007 to 2015 by federal universities and federal universities teaching hospitals in Southwest Nigeria were obtained from the institutional archives. Regression analysis of the contract sums and bid unit rates of common building construction items of works such as concrete, sandcrete block, iron, mortar and floor tiles were carried out. LOCOFs’ bid unit rates were compared with published unit rates and Nigeria consumer price index (CPI) within the study period and inferences bothering on firms’ pricing pattern and financial viability of firms based on items of work unit rates were highlighted and discussed. The results showed that 119 out of a total 461 unit rates values representing 25.81% of the LOCOFs bided unit rates were higher than the published unit rates. LOCOFs unit rates trend decreased within 3 to 4 consecutive years while the Nigeria CPI trend increased all through the years considered in the study. This implies that LOCOFs common items of work bids unit rates were not always influenced by the prevailing prices of goods and services in Nigeria. A possible reason for this is the lowest tender selection criteria which influences LOCOFs’ bided unit rates thereby leading to the acclaimed compromise in the quality of construction output and stunted financial performance.

Purpose – The optimization of production imposes a review of facility maintenance policies. Accidents during maintenance activities are frequent, sometimes fatal and often associated with deficient or absent machinery lockout/tagout. Lockout/tagout is often circumvented in order to avoid what may be viewed as unnecessary delays and increased production costs. To reduce the dangers inherent in such practice, the purpose of this paper is to propose a production strategy that provides for machinery lockout/tagout while maximizing manufacturing system availability and minimizing costs. Design/methodology/approach – The joint optimization problem of production planning, maintenance and safety planning is formulated and studied using a stochastic optimal control methodology. Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations are developed and studied numerically using the Kushner approach based on finite difference approximation and an iterative policy improvement technique. Findings – The analysis leads to a solution that suggests increasing the “comfortable” inventory level in order to provide the time required for lockout/tagout activities. It is also demonstrated that the optimization of lockout/tagout procedures is particularly important when the equipment is relatively new and the inventory level is minimal. Research limitations/implications – This paper demonstrates that it is possible to integrate production, maintenance and lockout/tagout procedures into production planning while keeping manufacturing system cost objectives attainable as well as ensuring worker safety. Originality/value – This integrated production and maintenance policy is unique and complements existing procedures by explicitly accounting for safety measures.

This study discusses the composition of the type and structure of vegetation in the habitat of the black dare monkey (Macaca Maura) at the Lejja Nature Tourism Park, Soppeng Regency, which aims to determine the composition of the type and structure of the vegetation and habitat of Macaca Maura in the Lejja Nature Tourism Park. The research is located in the Lejja Nature Tourism Park Conservation forest area, Soppeng Regency. The method used is observation, purposive sampling, literature study, and documentation. At the same time, the Pole level found 12 species with a total of 35 individuals and 12 families. And Sapling found 17 species with a total of 69 individuals with 17 families. At the same time, the Semai level found 20 species with a total of 50 individuals with 20 families. The Angsana tree and the highest LBDS at the tree and pole levels, with a value of 9040.69%, while the lowest is owned by the Campenong tree, with a value of 92.85%. Meanwhile, for the highest sapling level of plant species, the Arungganga tree has an LBDS value of 393, 69%, while the lowest LBDS value is owned by Locong-Locong with a value of 13.19%.

Background According to previous studies, the addition of ketamine to morphine for intravenous patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) may be beneficial. The authors developed and applied a new model to optimize the combination of morphine, ketamine, and a lockout interval for PCA after lumbar spine and hip surgery. Methods One-hundred two patients undergoing lumbar spine or hip surgery participated in the study. The analgesic effect of PCA during 48 h after surgery was optimized under restrictions dictated by side effects. Initially, eight combinations of morphine, ketamine (expressed as drug concentration in the solution administered), and a lockout interval (i.e., minimal allowed time between two consecutive PCA boluses) were empirically chosen and investigated. To determine subsequent combinations, an optimization model was applied until three consecutive steps showed no decrease in pain score. Results The authors analyzed 12 combinations with an allowed morphine and ketamine range in a PCA solution of 0-2 mg/ml and a lockout interval range of 5-12 min. During the optimization procedure, a reduction in mean pain scores with a low incidence of side effects was observed. The procedure converged to a morphine-to-ketamine ratio of 1:1 and a lockout interval of 8 min. Conclusions Using a novel method to analyze drug combinations, the study supports combinations of morphine with ketamine in a ratio of 1:1 and a lockout interval of 8 min for postoperative PCA following spine and hip surgery.

ABSTRACT Locknut is a critical component used in the precision machinery and its stable service performance over a long period of time in a variety of different environments presents a crucial challenge. In this study, a flank-locking precision locknut was pretreated in an immersion corrosion of 5 wt% NaCl solution to simulate the possible corrosion effects. The tightening and loosening of the locknut after 0-, 1-, 2- and 4-h corrosion treatments, respectively, was tested according to the ISO 2320 Standard. An in-house test setup with horizontal configuration was employed in measuring the torque–axial force characteristics under loading–unloading cycles. It was found that the corrosion of the locknut accelerated after 1-h immersion. The corroded specimens after 2- and 4-h treatment demonstrated more variance in measured tightening and loosening torques than their less corroded counterparts. However, after five loading–unloading cycles, the variance in measured torque decreased and the associated torque constants became more stable. Moreover, the torque constants were ∼10% higher for the 2- and 4-h corrosion-treated locknuts than their pristine counterpart. The surface morphology after corrosion and friction wear was closely related to the measured testing results.

A novel and fun exercise robot (LOCOBOT) was developed to improve balance ability. This system can control a spherical robot on a floor by changing the center of pressure (COP) based on weight-shifting on a board. The present study evaluated leg muscle activity and joint motion during LOCOBOT exercise and compared the muscle activity with walking and sit-to-stand movement. This study included 10 healthy male adults (age: 23.0 ± 0.9 years) and examined basic LOCOBOT exercises (front–back, left–right, 8-turn, and bowling). Electromyography during each exercise recorded 13 right leg muscle activities. Muscle activity was represented as the percentage maximal voluntary isometric contraction (%MVIC). Additionally, the joint motion was simultaneously measured using an optical motion capture system. The mean %MVIC differed among LOCOBOT exercises, especially in ankle joint muscles. The ankle joint was primarily used for robot control. The mean %MVIC of the 8-turn exercise was equivalent to that of walking in the tibialis anterior, and the ankle plantar flexors were significantly higher than those in the sit-to-stand motion. Participants control the robot by ankle strategy. This robot exercise can efficiently train the ankle joint muscles, which would improve ankle joint stability.

Objective: Addictive sexual behaviors are being identified with increasing frequency in the practices of psychology and psychiatry, and are gaining more and more attention from researchers. There are actually 25 different questionnaires for assessing the level of loss of control over sexual behaviors (LoCoSB). None of them have been adapted and validated in a Polish language version. The aim of our work was to make such an adaptation of the Sexual Addiction Screening Test – Revised (SAST-R). Design and Method: For the purpose of psychometric features examination and validation of the Polish version of SAST-R for males (SAST-PL-M), we recruited 116 heterosexual men receiving psychological treatment due to LoCoSB and meeting the criteria for hypersexual disorder. The control group consisted of 442 heterosexual males using internet pornography but having never looked for any psychological help due to LoCoSB. Psychometrical characteristic of SAST-R for females (SAST-PL-W) was examined in the study with 423 women. Validation was performed on the group of 34 females (17 women receiving psychological treatment due to LoCoSB). Results: Both SAST-PL-M and SAST-PL-W have high reliability (α = .904 for SAST-PL-M and α = .762 for SAST-PL-W), and good filtering characteristics for identification of people who are potentially experiencing difficulty with control over sexual behaviors. Conclusions: SAST-PL can be used as an efficient screening test for symptoms of LoCoSB in clinical and research setups. Results below 6 points indicate a high probability of no problems, while more than 5 points can indicate the need for additional clinical interviews.

Objective. To assess the duration of the therapy needed for complete eradication of clinical manifestations of allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) and evaluate how patients perceive cosmetic properties of Locoid, and to assess etiological factors of ACD based on the medical history. Materials and methods. The authors performed an open multicenter prospective observational program of observations of ACD patients receiving treatment with Locoid (in the form of Lipocream or Crelo). As many as 149 patients were involved. The patients received treatment with Locoid according to the routine practice until complete eradication of the lesions but for not more than 30 days. Prior to the onset of treatment, the etiological factor that caused ACD was evaluated. Upon the completion of the therapy, patients completed questionnaire forms to assess the cosmetic properties of the drug. Results. The authors demonstrated high clinical efficacy of the drug: ACD symptoms were eradicated in 96.64% of the patients; the median treatment duration amounted to 7 days. Cosmetic properties of the drug and general satisfaction with treatment were high regardless of the drug form (Lipocream or Crelo). In the sample under observation, the use of different cosmetic products was the most frequent reason of ACD. High safety of Locoid was demonstrated: adverse events were observed in one patient only. Conclusion. The duration of the therapy needed for complete eradication of clinical manifestations of allergic contact dermatitis is 7 days (median: quartiles of 5-9 days). The perception of cosmetic properties of both Locoid drug forms (Lipocream or Crelo) is positive; general satisfaction with treatment is high and does not depend on the drug form.

Should Australian lockout law be reformed? Lockouts in Australia are legally the formal equal of strikes and the legal treatment of lockouts is the most `de-regulated' in the OECD. The notion that strikes and lockouts should be treated equally is intuitively appealing. However, other OECD nations have rejected an equal right to strike and lockout, reserving lockouts for exceptional circumstances where employers suffer from an imbalance of bargaining power so as to reconcile lockouts with other legal principles such as freedom of association and the right to strike. Australian employers, it will be argued, have been given too much freedom by policy makers at federal level to use lockouts that should legally be reserved as a weapon of genuine `last resort'. However, instead of repositioning Australian lockout law back towards the international mainstream, WorkChoices will produce a legal framework that, uniquely, positively discriminates in favour of employer lockouts against strikes.

Background and Objectives: The cutoff values were analyzed for providing the ideal intravenous patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) that could reduce rescue analgesics or antiemetics requirements, based on the grades of postoperative pain intensity (PPI). Materials and Methods: PCA regimens of 4106 patients were retrospectively analyzed, and they were allocated into three groups with low, moderate, and high PPI grades (groups L, M, and H, respectively) based on numeric rating scores obtained 6 h postoperatively. Opioid and non-opioid analgesic doses were converted into fentanyl-equivalent doses (DOSE-FEN-OP and DOSE-FEN-NONOP, respectively). The primary endpoint was the cutoff values of these parameters. Results: With respect to the PCA settings to reduce rescue analgesic and antiemetic requirements, group L required a background infusion rate (BIR) of 1.75–3 mL/h, bolus volume of 0.5–1.25 mL, and lockout interval of ≤12.5 min. Group M required a BIR of 1.75 mL/h, bolus volume of 0.5–1.75 mL, and lockout interval of ≤5 min. Group H required a BIR of 1.75 mL/h, bolus volume of 0.5 mL, and lockout interval of ≤5 min. In assessments of the analgesic doses to reduce rescue analgesic requirement, the DOSE-FEN-OP was at least 950 μg of fentanyl regardless of group, while the DOSE-FEN-NONOP was ≥250 μg, ≥550 μg, and ≥700 μg for the L, M, and H groups, respectively. In assessments of the analgesic doses to reduce rescue antiemetic requirement, DOSE-FEN-OP was ≤950 μg for groups L and M and ≤850 μg for Group H, while DOSE-FEN-NONOP was ≤50 μg, ≤450 μg, and ≤700 μg for groups L, M, and H, respectively. Conclusion: The ideal PCA for reduction in rescue analgesics or antiemetics can be achieved by adjustment of PCA settings and drug dosages carefully with these cutoff values depending on the expected grades of PPI. Especially, the ideal PCA can be provided by adjusting the lockout interval and bolus volume rather than BIR and by applying smaller bolus doses and shorter lockout intervals with an increasing PPI grade.

Purpose – This paper aims to adapt Simons’ (1995b) theory of the role of information technology (IT) in shaping and facilitating the levers of control (i.e. the Levers of Control Applied to Information Technology – LOCaIT) as a framework for investigating how eBay’s business strategy was realized through its management control system (MCS) in the first 10 years of the online auction market. Design and method – The qualitative method uses data from public record interviews, teaching cases, books, Securities and Exchange Commission filings and other archival sources to longitudinally trace the realization of eBay’s strategy through its MCS and IT. Findings – Realizing its strategy through the eBay MCS necessitated a diagnostic control system unlike any previously seen. This system created a close-knit online community and enabled buyers and sellers to monitor one another’s performance and trustworthiness. Research limitations and implications – The LOCaIT theory facilitated understanding the core aspects of the realization of eBay’s strategy through its MCS and IT. However, LOCaIT largely omits the strong linkages evident among elements of the MCS, the importance and necessity of building a core IT infrastructure to support eBay’s strategy and the central role of building consumer trust in the realization of this strategy. Practical and social implications – eBay’s MCS is now, perhaps, the world’s most widely imitated model for creating online trust and user interactions (e.g. Yelp, TripAdvisor, Amazon). In addition, eBay’s MCS was “sold” as a consumer product that was instrumental in facilitating consumer trust in the online auction market. Originality/value – Contributions include: tracing the creation, growth and evolution of, perhaps, the world’s largest and most widely imitated MCS, which redefined the boundaries of accounting systems monitoring; and testing the range, usefulness and limitations of Simons’ LOCaIT theory as a lens for understanding eBay’s use of IT in their MCS.

Applying lockouts during maintenance is intended to avoid accidental energy release, whereas tagging them out keeps employees aware of what is going on with the machine. In spite of regulations, serious accidents continue to occur due to lapses during lockout and tagout (LOTO) applications. Few studies have examined LOTO effectiveness from a user perspective. This article studies LOTO processes at a manufacturing organization from a situation awareness (SA) perspective. Technicians and machine operators were interviewed, a focus group discussion was conducted, and operators were observed. Qualitative content analysis revealed perceptual, comprehension and projection challenges associated with different phases of LOTO applications. The findings can help lockout/tagout device manufacturers and organizations that apply LOTO to achieve maximum protection.

Impact-generated hydrothermal systems have been suggested as favourable environments for deep microbial ecosystems on Earth, and possibly beyond. Fossil evidence from a handful of impact craters worldwide have been used to support this notion. However, as always with mineralized remains of microorganisms in crystalline rock, certain time constraints with respect to the ecosystems and their subsequent fossilization are difficult to obtain. Here we re-evaluate previously described fungal fossils from the Lockne crater (458 Ma), Sweden. Based on in-situ Rb/Sr dating of secondary calcite-albite-feldspar (356.6 ± 6.7 Ma) we conclude that the fungal colonization took place at least 100 Myr after the impact event, thus long after the impact-induced hydrothermal activity ceased. We also present microscale stable isotope data of 13C-enriched calcite suggesting the presence of methanogens contemporary with the fungi. Thus, the Lockne fungi fossils are not, as previously thought, related to the impact event, but nevertheless have colonized fractures that may have been formed or were reactivated by the impact. Instead, the Lockne fossils show similar features as recent findings of ancient microbial remains elsewhere in the fractured Swedish Precambrian basement and may thus represent a more general feature in this scarcely explored habitat than previously known.

Several species are redescribed, or the previously unknown sex is described, and the literature for all the known taxa is given, including original author's descriptions if specimens were not available. Two new species, namely, fascia and loconti are described. Allacta basivittata (Bruijning), previously a junior synonym of Allacta bipunctata (Walker), is considered to be distinct. Allacta montaguei Chopard is transferred to Balta Tepper. Allacta raapi Hanitsch is transferred to Sundablatta Hebard. Allacta variegata (Brunner) is placed in Margattea Shelford. Allacta crassivenosa (Bolívar) is retained incertae sedis. The species are placed in 3 groups and a key is presented to distinguish the adults.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the efficacy and toxicity of three patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) morphine regimens. DESIGN: A prospective, randomized, pilot study of three PCA morphine regimens: (1) 1 mg with 6-minute lockout (n=10), (2) 2 mg with 12-minute lockout (n=12), and (3) 2 mg with 20-minute lockout (n=12). SETTING: Large teaching institution. PARTICIPANTS: Thirty-four patients undergoing cholecystectomy or hysterectomy. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Pain scores (0 = no pain, 1 = mild pain, 2 = moderate pain, 3 = severe pain), sedation scores, analgesic consumption, and patient attempts (patient activation of PCA device) and injections (doses actually delivered) were evaluated using analysis of covariance. Distribution of pain and sedation scores and adverse effects were assessed using Fisher's exact test. RESULTS: Data on 24 patients were evaluable. Six patients withdrew for poor pain control (2 in group 1, 1 in group 2, and 3 in group 3). Three other patients withdrew because of adverse effects and 1 withdrew because of pump problems. Mean morphine consumption did not differ significantly among the groups. Distribution of pain and sedation scores and the number of patients with nausea were similar across treatment groups. The mean injection to attempt ratio was significantly smaller in group 3 (0.71 ± 0.11) compared with groups 1 and 2 (0.9 ± 0.06 and 0.83 ± 0.09, respectively; p=0.001). Adverse events occurred similarly among treatment groups. CONCLUSIONS: No significant differences in the efficacy or toxicity of the three morphine PCA regimens were identified.

Distributed quantum information processing protocols such as quantum entanglement distillation and quantum state discrimination rely on local operations and classical communications (LOCC). Existing LOCC-based protocols typically assume the availability of ideal, noiseless, communication channels. In this paper, we study the case in which classical communication takes place over noisy channels, and we propose to address the design of LOCC protocols in this setting via the use of quantum machine learning tools. We specifically focus on the important tasks of quantum entanglement distillation and quantum state discrimination, and implement local processing through parameterized quantum circuits (PQCs) that are optimized to maximize the average fidelity and average success probability in the respective tasks, while accounting for communication errors. The introduced approach, Noise Aware-LOCCNet (NA-LOCCNet), is shown to have significant advantages over existing protocols designed for noiseless communications.

Based on the calculation of the frequency dependences of the group velocities and the values of the path of quasiparticles for one period of oscillation, the frequency intervals are established at which: i) phonons propagate freely along all directions of reciprocal space—the propagon zone; ii) phonon propagation along some directions is impossible—diffuse zone; iii) phonons are localized at the nodes of the honeycomb lattice—the locon zone. A comparison is made with a similar classification of phonons in a three-dimensional crystal of cubic symmetry.

The study investigated the variation of friction coefficient of a vertical assembly of flank lock type precision locknut at the different tightening speed by a torque and axial force test machine. The tightening speed is set at 4rpm, 6rpm and 8rpm, respectively. The lubricant is a type of 2TML. Surface morphology was observed before and after the test via an optical microscope. The experiment proceeded to five preloads to test and took the sixth as the experimental setting through the ISO 2320 specification. The study observed the variation of friction coefficient at the different tightening speed under a preload. The results show that the friction coefficient tends to be smaller when the tightening speed becomes faster. The increase of friction coefficient associates with the increase of anti-loosening ratio. For the surface morphology, it was found that the seat surface and the thread surface of the locknut generates the reaming, scraping and fatigue damage after the repeated tightening and loosening test.

This paper addresses Weakly Supervised Object Localization (WSOL) with only image-level supervision. We model the missing object locations as latent variables, and contribute a novel self-directed optimization strategy to infer them. With the strategy, our developed Self-Directed Localization Network (SD-LocNet) is able to localize object instance whose initial location is noisy. The self-directed inference hinges on an adaptive sampling method to identify reliable object instance via measuring its localization stability score. In this way, the resulted model is robust to noisy initialized object locations which we find is important in WSOL. Furthermore, we introduce a reliability induced prior propagation strategy to transfer object priors of the reliable instances to those unreliable ones by promoting their feature similarity, which effectively refines the unreliable object instances for better localization. The proposed SD-LocNet achieves 70.9% Cor-Loc and 51.3% mAP on PASCAL VOC 2007, surpassing the state-of-the-arts by a large margin.

Queue is a situation that happen to people, goods, and components that need to wait to get a service. The good quality of service will satisfy the customers and decrease the queue line. Queue often happens in a station especially in weekdays. A long queue line happens in the station is one of the problems that need to be solved. Instead of manual ticket purchasing that served by the operator, today PT KAI Commuter Line also serve ticket purchasing using THB machine. The purpose of this study is to compare the performance of queuing model that happen in Bogor station locket and to determine if the queuing model is efficient by comparing the service standard, between the manual and the one that used THB machine. The method used in this research was descriptive method by using queuing theory calculation. The model of locket queuing using THB machine in Bogor Station is Multi Channel-Multi Phase, in ticket purchasing using THB machine. Besides, in the operator locket service, the queuing model is Single Channel-Single Phase. Both s ticket purchasing service use First In First Out (FIFO) disciple. The maximum amount of the queue line and the source of customers’ arrival are infinite. Based on the value of system performance can be concluded that queuing system and the service given already great and effective (based on the performance measure and probability or passengers’’ chances), passengers who are waiting to buy tickets, either manual or using machine less than 1, or assumed 1 person. From the observation, the use of THB machine decrease the queue line, but need to be socialized because passengers does not know how to use THB machine to buy ticket independently.Keywords: queue, queuing model, commuter line ticket purchasing, Bogor station

Consumer points of view determine economical value of fabrics. Fabric luster plays a momentous role in attracting people's attention, especially for clothing and domestic purposes. Luster is defined by intensity of both specular and diffuse light reflection off of a surface. There are various methods for measuring surface luster. Gloss. Luster is described as the ratio of specular reflection in one angle to diffuse reflection in another angle. Two-bar warp knitted polyester fabrics such as Tricot, Locknit, Satin, reverse Locknit and Sharkskin in three different densities were provided. A mini gloss apparatus was applied to measure fabric specular reflection in the angle of sixty degrees, before and after disperse dying with different colors of white, blue and yellow. Results suggest that luster is a function of knitted fabric type, color and density. Enhancement of technical back luster resulted from longer underlap of the front bar. However, it did not change the technical face luster significantly. Density increased in all knitted fabrics and caused the luster to decrease. Dark color fabrics showed lower luster compared to light ones.

The result, for the patient who tried it, was excellent.

Indoor scene recognition is complex due to the commonality shared between different spaces. Still, when it comes to robotics applications, the uncertainty increases due to illumination change, motion blur, interruption due to external light sources, and cluttered environments. Most existing fusion approaches do not consider the uncertainty, and others have a high computational cost that may not suit robots with limited resources. To mitigate these issues, this paper proposes a reliable indoor scene recognition approach for mobile robots with limited resources based on robust deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) feature extractors and neuro-fuzzy inference to consider the uncertainty of the data. All CNN feature extractors are pre-trained on the Imagenet dataset and used in the manner of transfer learning. The performance of our fusion method has been assessed on a customized MIT-67 dataset and for real-time processing on a Locobot robot. We also compare the proposed method with two standard fusion methods---Early Feature Fusion (EFF) and Weighted Average Late Fusion (WALF). The experimental results demonstrate that our method achieves competitive results with a precision of 94%, and it performs well on the Locobot robot with a speed of 3.1 frames per second.

A structure-based nomenclature system for monocyclic and polycyclic organic macromolecules is presented. Single-strand mono- and polycyclic macromolecules as well as spiro macrocyclic compounds are covered. However, rotaxanes and catenanes, which contain interlocked rings, and rings or ring systems formed by noncovalent bonds are excluded. Also, polypeptides and carbohydrate polymers are not included. The nomenclature of cyclic macromolecules is based on the existing nomenclature of regular and irregular macromolecules, which in turn is based on the nomenclature of organic chemistry also published by IUPAC. The procedure for naming a cyclic macromolecule consists of transforming it to an open-chain regular or irregular macromolecule in such a way that naming of units proceeds in descending order of seniority but otherwise follows the rules established for these types of macromolecules. For polycyclic macromolecules, the same principles are followed after the main ring, bridges, and branch units are identified and locants for branch units as well as bridges are assigned. The complete names are assembled by citing the component names and locants in the appropriate order according to the rules in this document. Wherever possible, examples for illustration of the naming procedure have been chosen from the literature.
