Мета: полягає в аналізі та виявленні засобів формування освітлення міста та саду. Велике значення має декоративне акцентне освітлення елементів ландшафтного дизайну: рослинних груп, елементів геопластики, водних пристроїв, малих архітектурних форм, декоративної скульптури, декоративного покриття. Методологія. У статті використано порівняльний та історичний аналіз. Результати. Виявлено, що світло-кольорове середовище формується на основі комплексного проєктування. Цей процес включає три рівні: формування художніх вражень від архітектурного та світло-кольорового середовища, створення емоційно-образних характеристик і властивостей; розроблення інженерних пристроїв і світло-технічного обладнання з різними експлуатаційними характеристиками; формування власного стану світло-кольорового середовища для певного впливу на людину, забезпечення візуального комфорту. Виявлено потребу оволодіння мистецтвом освітлення, яка вирішується архітекторами та дизайнерами на стадії проєктування міста та міського середовища. Комплексний підхід до вирішення цієї задачі не тільки диктується економічною рентабельністю, але і визначається соціальною стороною справи.Наукова новизна. Систематизовані засоби комплексного підходу до формування освітлення міста та саду, застосовувані для покращення безпечності архітектурного середовища різного призначення в темний період доби, організації позитивного емоційного впливу елементів ландшафтного дизайну завдяки гармонійності колірного рішення, стильовій єдності з архітектурним простором та створення індивідуального художнього образу.Практична значущість. Виявлені закономірності можуть бути застосовані в практиці ландшафтного дизайну при створенні штучного світового простору міста та саду. The article describes the analysis and identification of the means of forming the lighting of the city and garden. Decorative accent lighting of landscape design elements is of great importance: plant groups, geoplastic elements, water devices, small architectural forms, decorative sculpture, decorative coating.Methodology. The article uses comparative and historical analysis.Results. It was found that the light-color environment is formed on the basis of an integrated design. This process includes three levels: the formation of artistic impressions from the architectural and light-color environment, the creation of emotional-figurative characteristics and properties; development of engineering devices and lighting equipment with various performance characteristics; the formation of their own state of the light-color environment for a certain impact on a person, ensuring visual comfort. The need for mastering the art of lighting is clarified, which is solved by architects and designers at the stage of designing a city and urban environment. An integrated approach to solving this problem is not only dictated by economic profitability, but also determined by the social side of the matter.Scientific novelty. Means of the complex approach to formation of lighting of the city and a garden are revealed. The means used to improve the safety of the architectural environment for various purposes in the dark, the organization of a positive emotional impact of landscape design elements through the harmony of color, stylistic unity with the architectural space and the creation of individual artistic image.Practical significance. The identified patterns can be applied in the practice of landscape design in creating an artificial world space of the city and garden.

The effective and smart façades that are designed to adapt the environmental conditions date back when windows and ventilators were designed carefully in response to the site conditions. In the last few decades, the emphasis on energy consumption and reduction has increased drastically, as technology has evolved and more new materials are used in the buildings than ever. Due to the numerous significant roles that a facade plays that are the thermal comfort, aesthetics, acoustics, lighting; high-performance building facades have become one of the main focuses for researchers and designers. This study is based on intersection of 2 main subjects of interest; (i) focusing on the importance of the jali/screens, as decorative architectural elements along with their functional significance, (ii) integration of this knowledge with parametric design methods to achieve new design solutions in façade design. As a result, to demonstrate the basic understanding of the concept of a kinetic façade through a jali, two design exercises that have been carried out and explored their kinetic systems, with the potential of a simple geometric design used as a module to generate the skin and its kinetic response. The investigations from this research opens a gateway for further explorations in the field of jali design, using parametric tools for the development of kinetic responsive skins.

Анотація:
The ecological tendencies of forming of architecture of modern exhibition and educational buildings for revealing of ways of creation of ecological design decisions of this type of structures and expedient use of leading principles of eco-design of interior spaces are highlighted. The analysis of architectural decisions of existing ecological exhibition and educational institutions is carried out. It is revealed that the main task in designing buildings of this type is to ensure speed, ease and accessibility of human perception of information to initiate the process of thinking, analyzing and invoking positive feelings, as well as ensuring the predicted impact of contemporary art on the subconscious, while creating eco-safety of visitors and environment. This is achieved through the rational design of the building's multifunctionality, the use of environmentally friendly materials for construction and decoration, energy conservation, the use of alternative sources of energy, energy-saving and advanced technologies, environmental waste management, efficient use of natural lighting, design and phyto design, the location of the building on the site, to create an unbroken connection between the interior and exterior space, etc.

In recent years, LED with high brightness or ultra-high brightness has appeared. Because of its low production cost, it has been widely used. Compared with other display media, LED has the advantages of rich display content, wide dynamic range, vivid picture, no pollution, long life, etc., so it is used in building curtain wall facade decoration. This research designs LED curtain wall control system, the use of SD600 chip dimming control of LED, the use of absorbing current mode LED drive, further design of single SD600 chip application circuit, multi-SD600 chip application circuit. LED curtain wall display text need to design the corresponding graphic processing hardware, the hardware is composed of ARM microprocessor LPC2210 and its related peripheral circuits. The core chip of the LPC2210 processor chip needs 1.8 V working voltage, and the I/O interface voltage is 3.3 V, so it is necessary to design the corresponding power circuit; The system clock is adjusted through the internal PLL circuit to make the system run faster and design its crystal oscillator circuit; The power monitoring chip CAT1025JI-30 is adopted to build reset circuit, 20-pin interface type JTAG interface circuit; It is considered that the UARTO interface can’t be directly connected with the RS232 interface of PC, the MAX3232 chip is introduced for level conversion, and the serial interface circuit based on LPC2210 is designed. In the experiment, the new technology is used for outdoor lighting LED curtain wall construction, and the development tool uses the ADS1.2 provided by ARM company. The μC/OS-II embedded operating system is introduced to control the graphic processing hardware resources, reading the file from the SD card, and writing the text file and BMP file into the three-dimensional array, the corresponding text and pattern effect are displayed in the LED curtain wall.

Introduction. The light played a big role in Byzantine culture. It was an integral part of the original architectural, artistic and symbolic design of the temple. For additional lighting inside the temple, polycandyla, lampadophoroi and candlesticks were used. Lighting devices are depicted on Byzantine mosaics, frescoes, icons, textiles and in manuscripts. Information about lighting devices is also contained in the typicons. Method. In 1930 and 2019–2021, during the excavations of the basilica erected by the Byzantines at the end of the 6th century on the Eski-Kermen plateau, fragments of Byzantine bronze candlesticks and a polycandylon were found. Their study is important for the reconstruction of the interior decoration of the once rich main city temple. Analysis and Results. These candlesticks and a polycandylon are only a small part of the lighting equipment of the main basilica of the city on the Eski-Kermen plateau. The considered lamps give an idea of the complex of church lighting, which was known only by mentions in monastic inventory inventories and typicons of the late 11th – 13th centuries. The increase in the value of candles in the artificial lighting of churches is a characteristic feature of the Komnenos period, which is intensified under the Palaiologoi. Apparently, a new set of lamps began to be used in the main basilica after its reconstruction.

Semantic and spatial changes in the options for using daylight compared to tradition are presented, based on the analysis of the architectural solutions applied in a number of modern Christian churches. According to popular belief, sunlight is used in most modern temples only as an architectural technique proving the skill of an architect, and as a means of interior decoration. The study showed that behind the abstract modern methods of illumination a temple, there is a deep connection with the earlier cultural tradition. Sunlight was one of the key means used for decorating interiors of Christian churches. The light pouring from windows of the dome drum or cutting through the twilight of the extended naves, highlighting an apse with the altar, or emphasizing the beauty of the sculpture, was the conductor of the Divine on earth. The quintessence of the presentation of “divine light” in architecture, which clearly shows the connection between God and man, are the Gothic monuments. From the end of the 19th – the beginning of the 20th century, temple architecture was rapidly changing. Renowned innovator architects of the 20th century offered their own vision of a modern temple. The extreme degree of individualization of the new objects of cult was based on a common principle: the rejection of the symbolic language traditional for Christianity. The architects were not tied to metaphors and images of biblical subjects. They boldly changed both the external appearance of a temple and the construction of its internal space, hence, its system of daylighting. Traditionally, sunlight was the semantic filling of the temple space. As a result of the present study, it has been shown that in the newest Christian churches, daylighting techniques, in their essence, replace the pictorial filling of the temple space with religious content. At the same time, the same techniques function as a modern interpretation for a number of traditional architectural methods used for lighting design of the temple space. By the examples of the works by Studio Zermani e Associati, Mark Cavagnero Associates, Vicens + Ramos, Königs architekten, modern interpretation versions for the themes of retablo, glowing cross, highlighting the altar space, and illumination of gilded surfaces are shown, and the upper and side illumination features of the newest temples are revealed.

Commercial space features essential characteristics of attracting clients and creating profits; thus, the exterior and interior designs of conventional commercial space were often made to look grandiose and overdecorated. Over time, according to commercial attributes, operator preferences, and style of the designer, commercial spaces have constantly undergone renovation into varied styles. However, the physical renovation processhas caused multiple and composite types of environmental pollution, such as waste and noise pollution caused by breaking of walls or partitions, anddecorative paint pollution, as well as the use of high-energy-consuming lighting equipment, air-conditioning systems, and decorative materials. Global pollution has caused climate change, endangering living organismsand human life. Furthermore, no effective method exists to control the problem of high greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, this study used energy-saving design concerns of a garden-type commercial space to propose an energy-saving evaluation model. The study combined three methodologies, the Delphi method, analytic hierarchy process, and fuzzy logic theory, to construct a multi-criteria decision support system for designing green commercial spaces, and used the green spatial design of a garden café as an example to illustrate the high objectivity and adaptability of the proposed model in practical application. The study also used an international award-winning case to validate that the proposed model had practical value as a reference to support key design decisions.

The article is devoted to the methodology of modeling in the design of the urban environment based on the identification of the uniqueness and identity of the territory. Rules and changes in the design code of the city, unnoticeable at first glance, contribute to the creation of a comfortable, harmonious urban environment. This article contains information about artistic and professional skills that form the idea of color harmony, the influence of color on the psychophysiological state of a person as one of the key tools for creating a balanced environment, as well as harmony, territoriality and environmental friendliness. For the administrative center of the Belgorod region – Belgorod, modeling the issue of the design code of urban space should be based on three basic principles: harmony, territoriality and environmental friendliness. The correct design of the design code includes several directions: color solutions of facades (the main color scheme of buildings is brown-beige. The color was not chosen by chance because it has a symbolic meaning in this context), the decoration of the first floors, the placement of signage, colors-lighting of buildings, festive decoration of buildings, as well as the formation of a unique architectural and landscape environment. The opportunity to use landscaping and features of the natural landscape, as well as local natural materials for construction will emphasize the naturalness of the coloristic solution returns material colors to the palette of the designer and architect. The formation of the design code of the urban environment through the semiotization of color provides for the formulation of research tasks, which consist in the analysis of modern urban planning theory and practice in order to improve the urban environment at the regional level

The creation of lightscapes in colleges and universities are of great significance in enhancing the perception of the campus environment, improving physical and mental health, and shaping humanistic connotations. This research aims to examine lightscape perceptions and impacts of different campuses. At Chongqing University A and B Campuses, lightscape walking experiments, subjective questionnaires, objective luminance measurements, and HDR picture processing were used to examine lightscape perception and factors. The relevance and differences in the perception of circadian lightscapes in the two campuses were analyzed using SPSS software. The study found: (1) natural lightscapes such as sky light, cloud shadow, and lake water reflection were the most popular during the daytime, while artificial lightscapes, such as decorative lighting of buildings, were positively evaluated at night; (2) the frequency of visits by a crowd directly impacts the ambiance of the environmental area; (3) males showed strong emotional awareness and social interaction skills in daytime, leading to increased social activity and stronger emotional responses, but no differences in nighttime; (4) optimal nighttime luminance enhances the overall perception satisfaction of the illumination; (5) the amount and arrangement of outdoor space, vegetation, minor landscape design, and service facilities all affect the perception of circadian lightscapes. In conclusion, design concepts and proposals of landscapes were suggested to optimize college and university lightscapes.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to find common ground between the theory of crime prevention by means of architecture and environment design and between the theory of sustainable development. The importance of creating a visually and environmentally friendly urban environment is shown as a means of involving people in the urban infrastructure, and, consequently, increasing the safety level.Methodology/approach: The interdisciplinary approach based on knowledge of urban studies, architecture, town planning, criminology and sociology. The analysis of safety of the urban environment and foreign experience. Exploration of approaches and techniques for creating a safe urban environment based on foreign experience. Modern methods include architectural means, planning and environmental design: lighting, gardening, anti-vandal measures, safe building construction.Research findings: The urban development indicates criminogenic and a relatively safe areas. The use of eco-friendly materials and architectural means is aimed at energy conservation and their positive impact on the urban environment as a whole. The identified aspects of the public safety, sustainable development, ecology and architecture include use of local natural materials or composites that can accumulate energy or respond to environmental changes; vandal-resistant materials; landscaping not only as a decoration, but also as a defense against criminal encroachments and en- vironmental improvement; more intensive planting in the urban structure to improve the environment.Practical implications: Multi-storey apartments are more typical for large Russian cities like in South Korea. Due to their high density, such areas do not experience problems with accessibility and developed infrastructure, but control and security are more important. The reconstruction of existing or creation of new objects (building, park or area) consists of the following algorithm: collection of information about the site, analysis of analogs, the implementation of the selected principles, selection of appropriate tools and materials, and postproject research for quality assessment. The discussed examples can help in the building design and reconstruction. The proposed algorithm for assessing the safety of the urban environment can be introduced into the design process.Originality/value: The value of research lies in the comparison of different concepts of safe built environment. A study of the foreign experience in the urban places and living environment. The paper makes an attempt to draw analogies between different types of multi-storey urban development and identifies the greatest criminality of this or that type of development. The paper provides an overview of the latest studies of the urban environment. For the first time, an attempt is made to adapt the principles of decriminalization to the specific features of the Russian cities. The paper suggests the reconstruction algorithm for the urban areas, taking into account the requirements of criminogenic safety, and proposes the principles of decriminalization.

If illumination is used correctly in architectural designs, it makes positive contributions to human health. Electric lighting can contribute to human health in environments where there are architectural restrictions and daylight is not sufficiently used (for example, in prisons). In this study, the illuminance level from the sun was simulated with dynamic electric lighting. By using direct, semidirect, and diffused illumination, human centric lighting concept can be used in environments where daylighting is not sufficiently used. In this way, illumination suitable for human biology was made with lowcost dynamic electric lighting arrangement without changing the architectural design. In this study, equivalent melanopic illuminance values in WELL standards in the concept of human centric lighting are provided in a simulation environment for different illumination types in a prison environment.

Light Emitting Diode (LED) is widely used in garden landscape decoration because of its small size, low power, concentrated light, and the capability of showing more vivid colors. While designing the LED lighting system, considering that a single Advanced RISC Machine (ARM)-based control system cannot achieve large-scale LED display, and a single Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA)-based control system cannot control the lighting system well, an LED system with the combination of ARM processor-FPGA is proposed. In this system, the ARM processor is used as the major control component. The Linux system realizes remote monitoring and intelligent management of image data. In addition, FPGA is used for LED data output. The lighting system consists of a major control node and a lighting node. The nodes are connected in parallel through a chain network. The major control node uses an ARM Cortex processor and is equipped with a Linux operating system. The lighting node uses ARM + FPGA hardware architecture. During the experiments, the LED lighting system is tested first. The results show that the reading and writing speed is fast. The LED display screen meets the lighting requirements. This LED lighting system is used for night lighting of garden landscapes. During the brightness test, the brightness of lighting objects and the background is used as research objects. Experiments have proved that the ratio of the lighting object brightness to the background brightness between (Yu, M. and Li, X., 2012. A little current k-factor method for measuring junction temperature of aviation lighting power led. Guangxue Jishu/Optical Technique, 38(3), pp.371–375; Monas, A., Verma, A., Gawari, A. and Paswan, R. S., 2016. Portable network monitor using arm processor. Procedia Computer Science, 92, pp.493–497.) is suitable for night lighting of garden landscape decoration, which will not bring discomfort to people who enjoy night scenery.

The correction of heat- transferring coefficient of envelope is related not only to the direction, but also to the selected external decorative materials of buildings. In this paper, the method is to establish thermal gain or loss model of architectural envelope, to analysis the influence of solar radiation of different external decorative materials on heat consumption of buildings. Aim to provide the reference for the selection of external decorative materials in architectural design, and to improve indoor thermal comfort and reduce architectural energy consumption.

Malay Traditional houses were classified based on roof design, spatial organization, construction method, geographical setting and decorative elements particularly at every state in Malaysia. This article analyzes decorative elements on the traditional Malay houses in two states; Perak Limas' House (PLH) in Perak and Johor Limas' House (JLH) in Johor. The research aim is to establish the architectural characteristics of both PLH and JLH. This can be achieved by identifying the existence of decorative elements and carrying out a comparative study on both PLH and JLH on the decorative elements as the main architectural characteristic. Twenty-five of PLH and JLH were selected for the study. The study found similarities and dissimilarities that contribute to the extension of aesthetical theory of the Malay traditional house in Malaysia. The findings established the architectural attributes of traditional houses in Perak and Johor through decorative elements.

The problem of development of the new profession of light designer primarily resides in development of the training methodology, cooperation of architects, lighting engineers, psychologists, colourists, social scientists in the sphere of education and their common understanding of importance of both artistic and technical design of lighting. Since the beginning of the 2000’s, the methodology for light design training has been created in Vladivostok, and the results of this work are presented in student projects and some theoretical projects, methodological and training guidelines and scientific articles. The methodology is based on contemporary examples and theory of light design in Russia and abroad; studying of media facades and light surfaces, lighting installations, light design of architectural ensembles; modelling of light panoramas of the city and areas of esplanades; training in the basics of light composition. The article describes the logic of the training process, which starts with creation of a light composition for modelling of the light panorama and lighting ensemble and forming of night time architectural and environmental spaces of the city, and methodology for light design in the sphere of architectural environment projects and education of light designers.

First, it analyzes the denotative aspects of these patterns, including their stylistic forms, structural frameworks, and craftsmanship techniques. Second, the paper classifies the traditional architectural decorative patterns of the Temple of the Three Sus based on the types of sources of these patterns and interprets the implied meanings of each. Finally, the paper explores the application of these traditional decorative patterns in modern urban design, specifically in Meishan City, discussing the inheritance and innovation of these patterns in contemporary urban design and emphasizing the importance of integrating tradition with modernity.

The goal is to develop a relief surface of jewellery elements based on architectural structures and jewellery design based on them. As a result of the study, a project of a multifunctional product “Palace Bridge” is proposed based on architectural forms of the city of St. Petersburg. The possibility of obtaining wire blanks with the required rigidity and thickness, which has both decorative and technological properties, has been clarified. The result of the transformation of architectural forms into products that attracts the attention of consumers is conceptually substantiated.

This study summarizes the results of the analysis of three dozen architectural objects in Lviv based on which presents architectural school in Lviv and its transition towards postmodern stylistics. The article considers the analysis of the phenomenon of postmodern architecture, in particular one of the key issues of the discussion with modernism - the possibility and nature of decorating the facades of buildings. Firstly, the role of geometric-decorative ornamentation as an indicator of the emergence of the so-called "Carpathian style," considered a proto-postmodernism, into a full-fledged postmodern architectural language was identified. Subsequently, the gradual disappearance of this ornamentation served as an indicator of the return to modernist paradigms, albeit in a significantly distinct form from the late Soviet neoclassicism. Additionally, the presence of such decorative elements in the Lviv context suggests that the same fundamental factors contributing to the development of postmodernism in North America and Europe were at play in this region. Secondly, the artistic and compositional peculiarities of postmodern decorative motifs in the Lviv architectural school were investigated. It was found that the architects from Lviv occupied a complex and ambivalent position concerning their search for alternatives to modernism. While their fundamental design principles and concepts displayed clear contrasts, on the level of details, particularly in decorative elements, they actively drew from modernist culture, specifically abstract art. Finally, potential directions for further research on the phenomenon of postmodernism in Lviv were outlined, with a specific focus on evaluating the decorative language of buildings from that era. The study proposes the hypothesis that during the 1990s to the early 2010s, a distinct system of geometric-decorative ornamentation might have begun to take shape within the Lviv architectural school. However, this development did not progress further due to the shift in design approaches and the adoption of neo-modernist architectural language. Further exploration of this aspect may shed light on the unique architectural developments in Lviv during that period.

Currently, the sales of decorative lighting products are very low because the design of decorative lights are less attractive to consumers. Therefore, the company must develop the product to produce quality products that are updated and attractive to consumers. This research aims to develop the decorative light products using value engineering. Value engineering was used to increase benefits withoutt increasing costs, reducing costs without reducing benefits, or a combination of both. This research was conducted to find out the level of efficiency that can be achieved from several recommended alternatives. Research results showed that the value of the initial design (Product A) was 3,48 x 10-7; product B was 3,16 x 10-7; and product C was 8,83 x 10-7. The use of raw materials has also changed from its initial design which was using a mixture of copper and brass with a thickness of 0,8 mm to an alternative design by using a mixture of copper and brass with a thickness of 0,5 mm. In this article, a method for assessing the characteristics of architectural lighting of buildings is graphically demonstrated, based on the example of architectural lighting of a public building in the city of Voronezh. The proposed method involves the identification of qualitative indicators of the expressiveness of architectural lighting of facades and their quantitative assessment using an integrated approach from the standpoint of the selected characteristics and criteria. Thanks to this method, the strengths and weaknesses of the studied architectural lighting of the building are clearly identified for its subsequent modernization or the creation of promising conclusions for the design of new construction objects.

The concept of adaptive lighting suggests architectural lighting designs that adjust and react to the living practices of inhabitants and variations in the environmental conditions. Current developments in lighting technologies, such as LED light sources and IoT infrastructures, open for new opportunities with adaptive lighting, where the control of the lighting possibly operates as an IoT service rather than build into building management systems. The dynamic flux in lighting changes the experiential presence and brings focus on change and variation rather than states, levels and structures. The suggestion is to enable adaptive intertwinement through an expanded field of dynamic flux in the artificial lighting, and couple between the daylighting and the artificial lighting through an integration of ambient contexts. The project develops experiential prototypes, with which the dynamic design parameters of adaptive lighting can be investigated, analysed and scoped into architectural programming processes. The staging’s are full-scale architectural scenography’s, which situate investigations into how the experience parameters of fluctuating artificial lighting, integrated with daylight flux in an architectural space, are experienced to influence the experience of architectural space, social situations and everyday activities.

By using artificial lighting in AMFI classrooms where there are architectural constraints and daylight cannot be adequately benefited from, it can contribute to the visual comfort and indirectly to the health of the students. In this study, point-based analysis of the Equivalent Melanopic Lux values of artificial lighting and learning environments in schools was made according to the criteria of WELL standards specified in the Human Centric Lighting concept. By using direct lighting, without changing the architectural design, optimum lighting suitable for human biology is provided with low-cost artificial lighting arrangements. According to the Human-Centered Lighting concept, an architectural lighting design was made in accordance with the WELL standards criteria. As a result of the improvement of visual comfort and optimum circadian effects in the learning environments of the students studying in AMFI classrooms, it is predicted that the success and participation of the students who use these learning areas will increase.

There has recently been a great interest in the outdoor lighting that is energy-efficient and does not intensify a light pollution phenomenon. In architectural lighting, these demands are difficult to implement and rarely analyzed. However, it is possible to introduce and use certain parameters based on the utilization factor for the quantitative assessment of floodlighting design in terms of both light pollution and energy efficiency. This paper presents the definitions of new parameters and the results of their calculations for several typical architectural objects. Different lighting concepts were created for each object together with appropriate computer simulations. The research shows a high potential for usefulness of new parameters in the design process. The floodlighting utilization factor is characterized by relatively low values of around 35%. In addition, obtaining the recommended lighting power density value below 2.2 W/m2 does not sufficiently determine the correctness of the design implementation considering the natural environment. This determines a great potential for opportunities to improve the implemented designs and provides a basis for redefining the currently used approach in architectural lighting. In order to create high-quality, sustainable solutions, all quantitative parameters should be analyzed simultaneously in addition to the esthetic visual effect issue.

Abstract Although lighting is a theme usually loved by architects, there are few studies about appropriate pedagogical strategies focusing on its teaching in architectural undergraduate courses. This subject rarely is present in conferences, symposia, and similar events regarding architectural education. Due to historical mistakes, lighting education is often conducted in such courses with no link to the architectural design process. Regarding daylighting, it not always goes beyond solar geometry and insolation control, and electrical lighting is addressed to the discipline of electrical installations, strictly based on a calculation approach. It urges to present lighting to students as an integral and indissociable part of the architectural space itself. Also, it is essential to support a process of learning based on observation and laboratory experimentation. This paper discusses these issues and presents a pedagogical proposal favouring drawing with light, both daylighting and electrical lighting, since the first steps of the architectural design process. An electronic tool yet under development and destined to help in decision-making related to daylighting in the initial phases of design development is also presented. For a sustainable and safe future in a world in rapid transformations due to technological advances and pandemic events, lighting education deserves to be exhaustively studied by educators and architecture schools worldwide. Sharing knowledge in a network seems to be the best way for such an objective.

Architectural lighting design is generally believed to have visual and psychological consequences on humans, and has been investigated either as an artistic or a scientific endeavour. This paper explores the possibility that these two viewpoints are not mutually exclusive with a poetic approach. It builds upon two arguments: the first is that poetry, being an inherently compositional system like language, impacts the perceived meaning of lit environments; the second is that humans seek qualities with experiential richness when interacting with lit environments, which is very much aligned with poetry. This reasoning is supplemented by reflections on the poetic possibilities within realised projects used as simple artistic and scientific case studies to demonstrate this complex visual and psychological interplay. Opinions from academics and professionals from the field of architectural lighting design are sought on these poetic possibilities, the appropriateness of these realised projects in expressing their respective qualities, and on the role of poetics in architectural lighting design in general.

Daylight variability throughout the day makes it an ideal light source for the stimulation of humans’ circadian systems. However, the key criteria, including proper quantity, quality, and hours of access to daylight, are not always present inside the built environment. Therefore, artificial light is necessary to complement the human’s visual and non-visual needs for light. Architectural design parameters, such as window area, orientation, glazing material, and surface reflectance alter the characteristics of both daylight and artificial light inside buildings. These parameters and their impact on lighting design should be considered from the early design stages to attain a circadian-effective design. In response to this need, a design approach called Human-Centric Lighting (HCL) was introduced. HCL places humans, and their visual and non-visual needs, in the center of the design process. It manipulates the light-related factors, such as spectrum and intensity, within the built environment for circadian benefits. The effect of HCL on lighting energy efficiency is still not clear. This paper reviews essential architectural design parameters and their impacts on circadian lighting design, considers the HCL design process and explores the most widely used circadian lighting metrics and standards.

Aromatherapy decorative lights can bedeveloped into other functions that can support the activities of human needs in the interior, some of which arefor health and comfort. This artistic research is intended to make lighting products using wood that has notbeen utilized to the full. This artistic research is also trying to develop other materials which are still rarely usedoptimally, namely ultra violet lamps and essential oils. Essential oils are available in many tropical environmentswhile this is only used by the community as a medicinal ingredient and cooking spice. This artisticresearch activity begins with product discovery until innovation results are obtained in the product designprocess. The first stage in this published research is to determine the objects needed then conduct analysisand synthesis, then carry out the planning process in accordance with the needs of recovery, health andcomfort. This artistic creation is also trying to utilize the pallet wood waste that is commonly found at loadingand unloading locations of freight forwarding which is then combined with sonokeling wood as the main materialof the lamp. The results of this artistic study consist of several designs of Aromatherapy Decorative Lampsthat are used as room lighting elements, decorative elements and as aromatherapy media. The results of thisartistic research are also expected to provide sifting on the material for the MK Interior Design and MK. InteriorAccessories Design in the Interior Design Study Program at the Indonesian Art Institute in Surakarta.

The article describes the method of abstract modelling of architectural plasticity. It includes the identification of its general compositional principles and artistic characteristics, united by the concepts of “natural” and “free” and correlated with the stylistic systems of modernism and postmodernism. The demonstration of how various electrical lighting techniques influence the architecture perception is also provided. The authors of this paper reveal peculiarities of the operation of lighting parameters and optical effects in relation to each type of model, including the interaction of external and internal spaces. They also formulate principles of creating dramaturgy and scenario of lighting solutions, and test methods of assessing the emotional perception of illuminated objects. The methodological material presented in this article provides the solution of such tasks as: the perception of architecture as an integral composition, acquaintance with the features of architectural plasticity of different times, the role of light in the perception of an architectural object, the evolution of the use of lighting techniques as a material for creating a work of art. It also describes how some masters work with electrical lighting and daylighting, as well what methods they use to create the dramaturgy of electrical light in experimental lighting solutions and to assess the emotional perception of objects under electrical lighting. The presented methodological approach allows the student to form a professional skill of working with lighting objects and spaces based on the formative properties of composition construction. This, in its turn, increases the quality of designing the architectural environment and reproducing its artistic features by means of electrical lighting.

The article presents the results of research work on the selection and justification of technological parameters for the production of highly decorative architectural and building products from local mineral raw materials, including technogenic mineral formations. Experimental work has been carried out to obtain new building materials that enhance the decorative and artistic design of architectural objects. Structural and technological parameters are substantiated and a prototype of a new large-format ceramic facing-bearing block is obtained. A search for new architectural forms using crushed natural stone was carried out and a design of a new plinth cladding block with the “saytash” texture was developed. A recipe was developed and prototypes of building products for masonry walls (lego brick and aerated concrete) were obtained, characterized by ease and convenience of masonry with equal strength characteristics. The results of the research are recommended to be implemented for the improvement of architectural objects in the city of Osh.

The article examines light as a tool of architectural and lighting design and a mean of artistic expression, which creates new social messages and influences environmental objects and the architectural environment. Within the scope of the tool, techniques of artistic lighting are researched and formed, traditional and innovative lighting tools of emotional and figurative formation of the urban and architectural environment from the standpoint of artistic design are determined. Traditional means and devices are lenses, optics, developer, LED and craft lamps. Innovative means and equipment are projectors, lasers, video mapping, theatrical elements, musical accompaniment, interaction through websites and mobile devices, management of the cloud environment using system controls, copywriting based on social messages and senses. As a result of the study, light methods of artistic design were considered, specifically transformation, digital art, emotional disclosure, city landmark, keeper of history, optical metaphor, fusion with nature, and types of artistic lighting were formulated. The analysis of the examples also allowed us to determine specific types of artistic lighting and light artistic effects: functional, atmospheric, optical, media or digital, combinatorial type with shadow and caustic effects. For each type of lighting, unique techniques and means of environment organization are formulated for each of the three levels: urban, architectural and object-spatial. The usage of methods, techniques and tools is possible both combined and separately. Their harmonious implementation and usage form an emotional interactive lighting architectural and urban planning environment with its own atmosphere and rules of perception. Successful operation of certain methods and means within each of the formulated types of environment lighting could express emotionality and social messages. Their organic interaction is possible applying an artistic approach based on the combination of philosophy and social messages with aesthetics and modern technologies and that encourages social responsibility and self-organization.

The article is devoted to the second stage of architectural and design activity of Hector (Hector) Guimar (1867–1942), during which his unique style was finally formed. During the period from 1900 to 1912, following the traditions of «total design», the architect was engaged not only in the design of residential and public buildings, but also in the decorative design of their facades and interiors, furniture, tableware, elements of technical equipment. He compiled a catalog of metal decorative elements for their serial production, published a set of advertising cards of his best works. The most well-known architectural designs are made in Guimard’s style, such as the house Jassede at Versailles (1903), Hotel Deron-Levent (1907), Castel d’Orgeval (1904–1905), Villa Surprise (1903-1907), Hôtel Guimard (1909–1912), Hôtel Mez-zara (1910–1911).

In this study, the lighting design of a building in the Organized Industrial Zone, which was converted from a warehouse to a commercial kitchen, was designed according to the Human-Centered Lighting concept. Point lighting calculations were made for commercial kitchen environments with artificial lighting. In order to reduce the negative effects of lighting on human health, lighting that will not disrupt the circadian rhythm should be provided. By using direct lighting, without changing the architectural design, it has been tried to provide optimum lighting suitable for human biology with low-cost artificial lighting arrangements. According to WELL standards, an average of at least 500 lux conditions should be provided in the relevant work area on counters and other food preparation or production areas in Commercial Kitchen Lighting. This area, which was designed as a warehouse for this purpose, was designed as a commercial kitchen in terms of lighting. As a result of the design, a lighting design was made in accordance with the WELL standards according to the Human-Centered Lighting concept. In this way, the visual comfort of the working personnel is improved and optimum circadian effects are provided.

The shortcomings of solar LED lighting concentrators and divide and conquer power module are analyzed, and a new set of solar LED lighting devices is proposed. From the aspect of concentrating solar energy, the device redesigns the structure of the existing symmetrical inner wall lens composite parabolic concentrator (SLCPC) by comprehensively using the principles of solar photovoltaic power generation and light transmission lighting. With the assistance of an optimized coating strategy, a part of the incident solar energy is introduced into the indoor lighting (TSLCPC) to realize energy complementary without affecting the optical performance of SLCPC. Meanwhile, it adopts a bidirectional synchronous rectifier DC-DC converter with Buck-Boost as the main topology. The lighting device takes single-chip microcomputer PIC16F887 as the main control chip, which has high-performance and low power consumption. A bidirectional synchronous rectifier DC-DC converter is adopted to realize MPPT control and LED drive. The hardware design of the device is also given. In the test, although the waveform of the bidirectional DC-DC converter has some burr in forward and reverse operation, the measurement accuracy remains stable, which verifies the feasibility of the device circuit. TSLCPC has the same optical efficiency as SLCPC, and it uses escape light to improve the utilization of solar energy. The effective light-receiving angle of TSLCPC and SLCPC ranges from −30° to 30°. When the system is introduced into the buildings in Hefei, it is found that the installation angle exerts a significant impact on lighting performance of TSLCPC, and then affects the lighting performance to a certain extent. However, it is generally acceptable.
